one of my favorite dan and phil moments is by far the dune bucket present during dan’s birthday livestream.
Like it was so genuine. You could see it in Phil’s eyes how excited he was to give Dan the present. And then Dan’s immediate JOY like he wasn’t playing it out for the camera it was a look of “my boyfriend remembered this ridiculous niche thing that i wanted months ago and love it”
and the fact that phil wanted to share that moment with US 🥹🥹
honestly that entire livestream feels like a collective fever dream but THAT MOMENT stole my heart.

thinking about what was going through L’s mind as he lay in bed, the same night that light and him were in the helicopter.
after insisting at every turn that the brilliant teenage boy smiling before him had to be kira, was — no, is forever kira, he finally can look into light’s eyes and see what he always knew was there.
a murderer, a sociopath, a villain, a liar. yes, everything has gone to plan. light is kira; kira is light.
the boy he has spent the last few months monitoring, mapping, and mythologizing, is kira.
kira is the boy who has watched L type genius nonsense on his computer in the dark, shared a fourth of the key lime tart that watari served after misa and matsuda returned alive, listened to L babble 19th century french poetry when progress had slowed to an unbearable crawl.
yes, light is all that and a million other dirty things, packed tight and wound up in the shape of a classical greek statue, an eighteen year old boy, japan’s top student.
kira.
that thought should bring him joy. satisfaction. relief, even, that his deductions would never miss their mark. and it does. elation lights L up on the inside, or perhaps on the outside going in, like being doused in water and feeling it sink into his bones.
it’s wonderful, it’s horrible; he didn’t know warmth could feel so cold.
because at the quite literal end of the day, this is what he’s been chasing, isn’t it? his culprit, his criminal, his killer.
so why, when sharing a bed with him, inches from his skin and from exposing the truth, does L want to see light within those eyes again?
he reminds himself its ridiculous. they aren’t separate entities, like a parasite and its host. rather, one incorrigible unit, a package deal, something he signed up for at the start. a plant with rot already spreading through its roots that L simply had to deliver back into the soil.
he’s never really had a green thumb, anyways.
gnawing on his nail, L rolls over in their bed, observing the light-shaped god slumbering in total darkness. kira is so pale that his skin brightens the night. his breathing shakes the earth and breaks waves beneath L’s skin.
so the world’s greatest detective decides to shift a little closer. and recites heart attack symptoms in his head until he falls asleep.

Sorry for rambling but I can't just thinking about this and I need people to listen to me I see Wanda smut fics all the time but I can't find post about analyzing and appreciating her character ( I see other fandoms do it with their fav characters I want one with Wanda too) Everything about Wanda's character is making me so freaking sad like i hate that half of her fans only care about her powers and that she's hot... she's more than that..I know it's fiction and it's not that serious but she makes me insane
She has every reason to be angry and be a Villain. because she didn't ask to suffer she didn't ask to be powerful and when she try to do something good and she did, the government put her in the raft everyone acts like she throws the bomb on the building on purpose when it's the only way to save Captain America and everyone around them. People blamed her for her own suffering and blamed her for a tragedy she didn't even cause, She can never come home because the house where all of her happy memories is made doesn't exist. She tried do everything to prove to everyone that she is good and it's not enough. The girl who only wanted people to accept her, the girl who only wanted to be love, the girl who wanted to be good, wasn't good enough
Her and Pietro is trapped under the rubbles of her own house for 2 days, no cause I can't imagine what that must be like? They know their parents are dead. They don't know if they are going to survive. They don't know if someone is going to come rescue them. And when they got rescued. They probably did not have given the chance to grieve their parents. Her parents body are probably unrecognizable and were buried in a mass grave, They are force to grow up too quickly and they have no choice but to accept it.
The reason she ends up so checked out of reality is probably that horrible things keep happening to her, and she has no choice but to go "ok" and move on from that. The moment she first appeared, the way she behave and act it's obvious she have aggression issues and emotional maturity. She used to go to rallies and protests because the government of her country sucks, (shown in aou) and she grew up with her brother, who probably tried to do everything to stop both of them from starving to death. She joined Hydra because she thought she'd be doing something that would help her and her brother, she didn't join them because she agreed with them. ( It's literally implied that hydra is pretending to be shield and is recruiting volunteers)
She did not throw that bomb on that building on purpose; she's trying to save Steve and the people around her. She literally saved a lot of people's lives there, but people keep focusing on her mistake.
Wanda had done so many good things because she was good despite every reason not to. If she is "evil" from the beginning she would have not side with the avengers and just run away after learning Ultron's real plan
She would have not tried so hard to stop the bombs in Lagos if she did not care about other people's life. she save Natasha's and okoye's life, She did everything she could to stop thanos, she did everything the team ordered her to do.
She doesn't want to kill vision because she's afraid of being alone. Westview happened because she couldn't take it anymore. If She is evil she would have not the of people of that town go
"Why didn't she go to therapy?"
Girl, I don't think therapists in the "M*rvel" can help her. You know how people there react to her. If she goes to a therapist, it will probably make her worse. She wants Vision back because he's the only one who understands and truly loves her, and he treats her better than most people there.
She wants her sons back because they make her feel normal and human. They probably reminds her of her life when she is young before everything went horrible. And I don't want to her that "ThEy ArE nOt rEaL" bullshit, They are real to her, she gave birth them. She feels them kicking in her stomach, she touch them she cooks for them, change their diapers, made memories with them, they are not just objects or toys to her, they are her children, she gave life to them, they have souls, they just don't have a physical body
No cause Wanda is happy in Edinburg with vision, those are probably the times where she feels real happiness and thanos ruined everything.
If thanos didn't come, Wanda and vision will be have a real marriage and probably have adopted real children.
Wanda only want people to accept her, she only wanted to be treated like a human being, she doesn't care about being powerful. All of the crimes she committed happened because ever since she's a little she suffered, and I don't care if there are other people who suffers than her, people process trauma differently.
the way Wanda is influenced with something dark and evil and all of she ever wanted is to hug her sons again, she did not want to rule the entire universe she didn't want anything all she ever wanted is to be with her family
Wanda realize she have the power to do everything she wants (darkhold influ.)
that she has a will and that she can make her self happy and I love her for trying.b and I do think she makes stupid and horrible decisions, but so do I, and that's okay;
She's been a hero, a victim, and a villain. because the writers and the shitty universe she's in, don't know what to make of her they accidentally created a character with so many potential and they don't know what to do next and they just killed her off because they think she's not as important like the rest, and majority of her fans just cares about her powers, they only care that she can "solo" people hated Wanda's character because of that. People won't look deeper into her character because the people that claimed to love her also weaponized her. She is doomed by the narrative, ruined by her some of her "fans" and we might not see her again because the universe she's in sucks.
rahhh I am losing it over a fictional woman who has been dead for (?)2 years :(
sorry again for yapping to much I just love this woman so much, my English is not that great sorry if some words are use incorrectly and I am half asleep while typing this so sorry for typos... goodnight

I THINK SOMEONES SAID THIS BEFORE BUT!! IMAGINE THE (GREEK) GODS CHILDREN ARE CURSED BY THE STYX. HEAR ME OUT.
obviously, zeus + poseidon + hades all swore on the styx to have no more kids… but they did. and i was thinking what if their kids are cursed because of it (because obvi the gods are gods so they won’t be effected).
SO:
thalia grace, daughter of the god of the skies → has a fear of heights
percy jackson, son of the god of the sea → has a fear of drowning
nico di angelo, son of the god of the underworld (where it’s basically always night) → has a fear of the dark
ANYWAYS I WAS THEN ALSO THINKING ABOUT THEIR ROMAN COUNTERPARTS AND THEIR KIDS!
are jason and hazel cursed too? obviously jupiter + neptune + pluto didn’t swear that they’d stop having kids so does it count for them as well? BECAUSE
jason grace, son of the god of the gods → has a fear of leadership and making important choices / he’s indecisive (or something like that.)
hazel levesque, daughter of the god of underworld (where the river lethe is, which is related to memories) → has a fear of her past

What if the Knox and Chris sub-plot had meaning?
WAIT NO GUYS IM SORRY PLEASE HEAR ME OUT I BEG PLE-
Okay I'm starting this post off by restating my downright hatred for Knox. I do not like his character, what he did was wrong, it's creepy and fucking disgusting. I will however like to talk about how his relationship with Chris could have potentially added to the story.
We all know (at least I hope) that practically everything in this film has meaning. I had spent ages wondering why they thought it was a good idea to include this frankly ridiculous sub plot to the story. And then I thought about it. Like really thought about it. I don't exactly remember what I was doing when I thought about it, but I do know that I had DPS playing in the background. (I initially thought about this on April 7th. It is May 29th when I am typing this up.)
So, here are all my reasons as to why I think they added the Knox and Chris sub-plot!
My first point is about this scene:
Tumblr media
I believe that this line could be a form of foreshadowing. Yes, it is Knox being a dramatic and insufferable prick but it also feels like it could be more. Obviously it isn't Knox who dies in the end, but the idea of not being able to have something leading to suicide feels very important to the story.
Neil is unable to achieve a career in acting because of his father. As well as this, he is being taken away from his family. His real family. By not being able to have this thing that he so desperately wants, he feels like there is no other solution than death.
Knox says that if he can't have Chris he will kill himself, Neil has practically everything he loves stripped away from him- he cannot have it. So... He kills himself. There is a lot of foreshadowing in this film that hints to Neil's death at the end of the film and I do truly believe that this is a part of that foreshadowing.
My next point is that it is used as a form of contrast.
We see that Knox is extremely open about his attraction to Chris... In a multitude of ways, repeatedly throughout the film. Whether his actions that show his attraction are good or not is a different matter (Knox... God how I hate you.)
Arguably this is used as a juxtaposition. Knox (and Chris?) are relatively open about their attraction to one another- while Neil and Todd are very closed off about it. It is never explicitly stated that Neil and Todd like each other in that way, but through subtext it is heavily implied.
Why might this be? Well, considering the film is set in 1959, it could be because homosexuality simply wasn't legal at this point in time. Neil and Todd weren't allowed to be open about liking each other. Being open about it could put them in danger, they had no choice but to stay quiet.
However, as well as a contrast, it poses similarities between Knox and Chris and Neil and Todd. By setting up this contrast, it only brings to the surface some quite significant similarities.
Because let's be real.
How can THIS be a look of true love...
Tumblr media
And THIS not be?
Tumblr media
Or falling in love or admiring one's beauty or WHATEVER you want to call it. That's not the point. The point is, they're not that different.
You can see similarities between Knox's behaviour towards Chris and Todd's behaviour towards Neil (and vice versa). One of the main similarities is, well, how they look at one another. I personally don't see how the way Knox and Chris look at each other is true love but the way Todd and Neil look at one another is just... Them being roommates.
The juxtaposition between the two sets of people (I didn't know how else to say this) just doesn't seem accidental. The constant mention of Knox's feelings and love towards Chris just makes the way Neil and Todd interact more obviously... Romantic? Loving?
Their love is stated to allow the audience to see how similar they are to Todd and Neil, while still sticking to one of the key concepts of the film - conformity. Neil and Todd having to conform to societal standards, not being able to share their love for one another.
Knox's feelings for Chris are explicitly stated, repeatedly, because Todd's and Neil's can't. It makes it more noticeable. Neil and Todd's feelings can't really be stated due to the law. So they do it with Knox instead. The similarities can be seen throughout the film in how Knox treats Chris and how Neil and Todd treat one another.
Because again, how can Knox look at Chris like that and that show that he is in love, but Neil look at Todd like that and that just be... Them being friends?
The answer is, it can't. Not really.
Although Knox is a lot more explicit with his feelings towards Chris than the other two are with one another, the feelings they have are the same. Whether it is portrayed in the same way or not, it's love.

You know what I would actually love to see? Productive liberal feminism. Because I have friends that I would call genuine liberal feminists, and I don’t think mainstream liberal feminism is at all what it should be.
In theory, right, if liberal feminism is feminist action through law, policy and regulation through existing institutions, it could do good things. Theorising about a feminist revolution and a perfect world, talk of culture and separatism is great and all, but we need to fix the world we currently live in so it’s friendlier to women as well, and i believe that’s what liberal feminism should be. There’s things to improve upon through law in the western world, but moreover there’s countless of things to fix and change in other countries to help women. I do honestly believe this kind of feminism is equal or even more important than radical/cultural feminism. I’ve considered shifting my own focus to things like this, considering I’m studying law and crime anyways.
A productive liberal feminism movement could help illegalize FGM worldwide, remove mandatory hijab or covering laws, have harsher punishments for offenders in honour killings. It could get more women into parliament, force law enforcement to take sexual crimes and hate crimes against women more seriously. It has done good in past, no doubt: such as laws surrounding what questions can be asked to the victim in sexual assault or rape cases, and what personal information of the victim the jury can be provided with.
But unfortunately, reality is that historically, liberal feminism has been extremely individualistic, and focused only on upper-class white women (See: Betty Friedan in the 1960s telling women that the solution to their problems (emotionally) is to get a job and get out of the house - whilst most working-class and WOC already had a job, or were working too much from home to consider a job. She came to this conclusion because she only talked to and researched upper-class white women)
Gail Dines often says liberal feminism operates on a basis of “If i’m happy then fuck you”. The fact alone that liberal feminism nowadays focuses on “Empowerment” rather than looking at the genuine struggles that even lower class women in their own countries face, let alone struggles and liberation of women in other parts of the world is telling of its intentions and individualistic view. Honestly i feel like liberal feminism should be a separate term, and this “empowerment” “feminism” should be called something else - and not be called feminism. I believe much of the “empowerment” movement is regressive and anti-feminist. In a sense, it’s even conservative, the way it wants nothing to change functionally, only to maintain current culture and systems, except without any criticism.
TLDR it’s an honest to god shame that liberal feminism is such a mess and is so individualistic, and it’s fucking weird when people say “radical feminism is white feminism” when we seem to be the only ones concerned with anyone but upper-class white people who have the privilege to seek “empowerment” rather than liberation from oppression

IM BACK, BYLER SHIPPERS (kinda, I might post again on Friday)
Anywayss, I've recently been like obsessed with the fact that Robin or Will might be a traitor in s5
Like, Robin could be a Russian spy (omg this theory is one of my faves 😍) and Will could just be done with everything and join Vecna (im still stanning him if he does tho)
But I also love the theory that Will is gonna be possessed by Vecna in s5 tho cause like holy shit i love it sm
And the theory that Will has powers is gonna be canonical idc what anyone says....until s5
(Also, reminder that Robin is Will's gay mentor, ty)
(Srry for the ramble)

his editing skills are the reason why he got so popular. He's so talented
the thing about dreams talents is that they’re so inherent and natural to him.
that's what makes him so different from everyone else, because his strengths can’t be easily taught or trained. it’s just a quality to him that can't be replicated by anyone else, why do you think the minecraft space is so dead during his inactivity?
nobody has the creative vision like he has, he can look at one thing and will be able to come up with a hundred ideas from it. it’s literally why his project is taking so long cause he keeps coming up with new things lol.
sapnap himself said that while he may not be the best coder, he’s creative enough to find a different way around a problem
dream's creativity is what gives him the ability to do whatever new things he wants and do them well
another thing is that dream is largely self-taught. from his coding to his writing to his editing, he didn't get formal training or education for them, he just worked himself to the ground until he got good at it.

So long 🫡
I am trying to do some reading on the omepete/nicaroa, but I'm only getting surface level info. I even tried my university's library for some stuff and found a few good journal articles that I'm gonna set aside some time to read. But I'm having difficulty finding info on modern practices from this community. I'm sure I just haven't asked the right questions, and I am brainstorming on that. But like so far, I haven't seen anything about social issues about the people themselves, which is very important to me. I asked Google if the people are still around, and it says Nicarao as a tribal Confederation are now extinct :/ But that there are still around 20,000 people who still identify as nicaroa? But I can't seem to find anything on this identity in a modern context. Who are these people? What does it mean to be "nicaroa/ometepe" in a modern age? What practices do they continue to perform? Do they still practice their traditions? How has globalization impacted their community? How does one define this identity? Is it an ethnicity? Who can claim this identity? Do they face racism? Colorism? How has the government affected their indigenous lands? Do they face any environmental issues? What sets them apart from other Maya communities? I could go on and on, but clearly, this requires deeper research on my end than just a few google searches. I tried refining my search on my university's library page, but I still didn't get much. These are important components of an identity to consider in order to fully understand people. To understand and problematize their identity is our way as "outsiders" to respect another's culture. Hopefully, prodigy will dig a little deeper on this, but for the time being, I will conduct my own research and add to my chakotay headcanons :D. Also, if anyone is from Nicaragua, please help D: I am confused.
Sorry I just needed somewhere to write out all the questions I want to answer lol

I hope it's okay to pop in like this. I've seen others ask for little fun facts, and it made me really curious about some of the lesser talked about angels like Armoni and Dina.. (*´▽`) would you be willing to share some precious tidbits about them as well? They're some of my favourites
Hello! It's more than okay!! I'm happy you like Armoni and Dina! :) I think they're both fun.
First, something about the two of them is that, a little after the war, Armoni (along with Azazel) scared away the angels that were harassing Dina; this is how Armoni and Azazel adopted Dina, essentially. Armoni comes off as very tough-love-y with Dina, but he cares about him a lot. Armoni will fix up Dina's clothes and accompany him everywhere and fight for him whenever Dina gets into a confrontation with a sanctimonious "pure" angel. Armoni can be very gentle though, and sometimes he will literally tuck Dina into bed, kiss his forehead and all.
Armoni, as its said in A&M, never particularly liked Lucifer, though I do think he's exaggerating his dislike when he remembers it. I think at the time he wouldn't have been honest to himself about being jealous of Lucifer's beauty. I also think that, if he ever interacted with angel Lucifer, he was very polite, then went home with a big frown. Armoni wants to be the most beautiful but mostly lacks the confidence (and is more self-conscious than he'd like the admit) and understands he has an attitude problem. Armoni really loves Azazel as well and occasionally asks Azazel to practice cosmetics on him. Armoni also likes musics and grapes and gossiping, much like Azazel. He misses the old Heaven, but all his old friends have forsaken him, and he wouldn't trade his new friends for anything in the world. Also, he's sex-repulsed, if you didn't catch it.
Dina.... So Dina was "stunted" a bit by the war and is struggling to mature. In a sense, he's a lot like Lucifer in Part 1 of ABM! He cries a lot and gets overwhelmed easily and doesn't like to be stared at too much. Immediately after the war, Dina was berated for not just stealing but for other sins he didn't commit, and he was made to feel ashamed of his face and body, and he was ordered to hide his "seductive" face. Since then, he's been mostly wearing that veil over his hair and sometimes over his face. Though Dina was forgiven by God, he doesn't feel forgiven, and he will sometimes look for Phanuel and follow him around distantly, wanting to apologize. He may have even tried, but other angels won't let him approach Phanuel, and Phanuel himself has been mute since the war, so Dina knows he wouldn't be able to receive forgiveness anyway; Dina is very miserable about this. While the Watchers plot is happening, I think Dina spends a lot of time indoors and doing various things to try to discover his role/purpose, but nothing is really clicking with him. Also during A&M, Dina prayed often to God to make sure that Azazel and Armoni were safe.
