Sonic Together Halloween Special 2024: Pumpkin Hillraiser

Silver travels back in time to prevent a terrible disaster from happening. There's only one problem- It's Halloween, and everyone is too busy dressing up and partying to help him prevent the end of the world. Meanwhile, a mysterious bat who lives in Pumpkin Hill yearns to explore the rest of the world, only to have Amy Rose's Halloween party turn up right at her doorstep.

This is the first part of my new Halloween Special, and also the first episode of Sonic Together the feature the wonderful Silver the Hedgehog! Displaced Together and another project I'm working on gave me a good practice in writing him, and I really like how this episode turned out!

ROUGE You look worried, Silver. What’s getting you down?

SILVER This is just- my first Halloween, is all. I’m not used to the crazy costumes.

ROUGE guess that’s why you’re not wearing one yourself, then.

SILVER …Yeah. I feel kinda out of place.

ROUGE Oh, you needn’t worry. That’s who Halloween is for. The misfits. Those who people call weird.

SILVER People call me weird?

ROUGE The point is, it’s a time for people who… aren’t normal, to relax, and embrace who they are. And goodness knows none of us are normal.

AMY appears at ROUGE’s side, buzzing with excitement.

AMY Silver, I’m so glad you could make it!

SILVERAmy!

SILVER breaks a small smile, Amy’s joy infectious.

AMY Usually I organise these parties all by myself, but having Rouge help me out here was so refreshing! Her cool and mysterious attitude really helped with the vibe… just like yours!

SILVER Cool… and mysterious?

AMYTime traveller from the future, back on a mission! To save a doomed time, but from what? Only he knows… it’s so spooky!

SILVER I… guess I didn’t think of it like that.

AMY So, tell me! Did you come back just for this? Or are you here for another mysterious purpose…?

AMY, excited at the mere thought of an unexpected turn of events on Halloween, leans closer to SILVER. He backs away instinctively, bumping into the table behind him.

SILVER I- Well, it’s kinda- It’s just that-

ROUGE Amy. You’re coming on strong again, dear.

AMY Oh! Sorry.

AMY backs off.

AMY I just get excited about holidays. Plus, this armour makes me feel powerful! Like I could slay a dragon.

ROUGE Maybe the dragon can be the cleanup afterwards. For now, we mingle. 

ROUGE drifts away, AMY in her wake.

AMY Nice to see you, Silver!

SILVER Y-you too.

Look what came in the mail for me today!!! Yeah, I got it online, but it came protected, so it's in perfect condition! Can't wait to read it!

Also bought a couple of other IDW one-shots yesterday at a comic book store I like! I got the 900th adventure special as well as the endless summer special too! But do excited that the Halloween special finally got here!!
