First post, of course I had to do one of the main protags of this au and the ship that kinda started it all - Silvamy, aka the Rose family! (yes all the kids have amy's last name, more on that later.) Lets get into this sweet yet spicy fam. Silver T. Hedgehog

Age: 42

Occupation (Disaster Relief Specialist/ Timestone Guardian)

Extra Notes - still not fully satisfied with silver's older design, I think its because he's supposed to feel out of place amongst the present day sonic cast to really sell the futuristic aspect, i scrolled through a ton of silver au fanart to get inspo because i was stumped and didn't want to just slap some scruff on him and call it a day, especially since he joined the guardian of powerful gems club with blaze and knuckles (still working on the kinks but basically eggman nega survived his entrapment in the chaotic inferno, found out about the timestones and made little big planet the new holding ground for an infantile infrit, slowly working on "raising" it so he can subjugate the past, present and future and accomplish what his forefathers have always lacked - world domination and an another race against time to save the future ensues.) - Silver is now the guardian of the time stones and got an boost in psychic power and I wanted to give him an indicator similar to knuckle's crescent mark or blaze's forehead gem hence the teal markings. He has pulled an captain america and now safely stays in the past with his wife and kids and works similar to the zone cops of the archie comics but way more powerful and freelance. he also helps out with natural disasters like earthquakes or tsunamis thanks to his upgraded psychic powers. To end on an literal fluffy note, his wife and kids love the extra chest fur.

Amy Rose

Age: 40

Occupation: Event Planner/Fitness Trainer (Part-Time)

Extra Notes - pretty happy with amy's design, wanted to do something different from the long-haired cottagecore amys for sonamy fams, not knocking them - they work well for that dynamic but amy has an trio of very unique kids to parent, an time traveling husband and spends her days dealing with picky customers for all sorts of events and still find time to occasionally teach self-defense class and yoga to young women, she needs to be ready at all times. I wanted to go for an more casual and classic feminine nicole watterson vibe (yes, she is hiding muscles under that sweater dress :P.) - kudos to anyone who can get why she has 

glasses! I think the half-moon ones really suit her!

Zenia Rose

Age: 15 (Born May 23rd)

Powers: Enhanced durability, Enhanced senses, telekinesis, minor chaos energy manipulation, empathetic sensing/linking/inundation, minor telepathy 

My precious cinnamon roll! Zenia was the first serious sonic oc I ever made so I wanted to do her justice! She leans alot more towards her father in terms of appearance, power set and personality being a bit of an socially awkward and humble overthinker but she has her mother’s big heart and very caring and optimistic outlook on life, her parents nurtured her powers and her emotional capability in equal measures and thus she’s pretty well rounded in expressing and understanding the feelings of herself and others, though she tends to get more overbearing with those she’s close with, all round an very feminine girl next door archetype. As far as design goes, I wanted silver’s vibe but amy’s coloring and clear fashion influence with a dash of zenia’s more natural and graceful preferences, so pastels, frills and flower motifs were a go. I’m pretty proud of the idea of how to mimic her dads - lets say, “unique” quill style but make it more feminine so I took the spines at the back of silvers head and moved them to the front to be curtain-like bangs to always give her an demure look and then enlarged and curled his crown of quills and pushed them back behind an headband to give an bump it style, the rest is an homage to those long haired amy designs I mentioned earlier! She looked a lot like amy’s original design when she was an bab. Also her powers are a spring green instead of a teal like her dads because they are weaker and more emotion based. Silver personally made her energy cuffs and couldn’t say no when she asked for an flower design as the insignia. 

Auger Rose

Age: 8 (Born October 10th) Powers: Enhanced durability, enhanced senses, tarot card manipulation, minor precognitive ability (boosted when using tarot cards), minor chaos energy manipulation, acrobatics. Auggie! The quintessential middle child and only boy of the family - Auger’s family never makes him feel left out which he appreciates but he appreciates his own solitude and doing things at his own pace more. Silver initially worried that his own former solitary ventures in his once ruined timeline or even the powers hes gained from the time stones themselves has re-emergence in his son especially when auger revealed how he gets  flashes of the potential future sometimes but eventually amy and silver realizes thats just how their kiddo is, he’s not trying to be standoffish or emotionless, he just does and expresses things differently and thats okay, auger knows his family loves him and he shows the same affection in his own subdued way, plus his sisters keeps him on his toes and lets him shine when need be. Augers design is an mesh of forgotten concepts or concept arts of amy and silver, I always wanted to bring back amys tarot card abilities since thats what technically got her into the main cast plus they are an fun way to connect silver and amys dynamics and personal goals into their kid. I ripped off the hair design from my first actual sonic oc - Specs the hedgecat and tweaked it a bit to fit more inline with auger’s personality - ie tamed but not stuffy. Augers eyes are perpetually half-lidded for an myriad of reasons and he always has that waist belt with him as it carries his own special deck of tarot cards. Can’t remember how I came up with his fur color, He’s an autumnal baby with his twin sister so I just rolled with that I think.  Fun Fact - Auger is a tool with a helical bit for boring holes in wood and is an personal play on the word, Augur which is the ancient roman practice of observing birds to interpret omens! Maple Rose

Age: 8 (Born October 10th) Powers: Enhanced durability, enhanced senses, enhanced strength, piko-piko hammer, acrobatics, spindash, homing attack

The baby of the family, auger’s twin sister and probably the reason amy and silver stopped at three kids. Maple is the wild child of the trio and took all of her parents headstrong traits and cranked them up to 11, having a very strong sense of justice and action taking but oftentimes leaping before she looks. The type of child to constantly be sulking in the principal's office because she fought with another kid who was being a jerk, pouting not because she’s sorry but because she’s getting in trouble for something the bully started. An tomboy playground protector if you will with tons of energy to burn and big dreams to fill. Amy wonders semi-fondly if this is adorable karma for always wondering what a child with sonic will be like as her little girl looks up to the blue blur immensely and wants to be the next big hero of her generation. Amy severely regrets the day she let sonic teach maple how to spindash (fun fact - she’s the only one of her siblings who can do it successfully!) and both her and silver are still trying to figure out how to explain their decorated history with sonic without the girl jumping to fantastical conclusions, this coupled with the fact maple carries her mothers legacy of the piko piko hammer and well…knee pads, helmets and bandages are always running out at the rose household with maple playing hero. All in all however, Maple is an loyal friend and while she can be pushy at times, tell her to back off and she will, having two more soft spoken siblings has certainly helped tame her more out there ideas and tendencies. Design wise - maples coloring was to complement her brothers but I headcanon amy’s father as being an red hedgehog so took that and mixed it with silvers darker hue to make that maple sap color work and I takes cue from the classic rough and tumble troublemaker kids of old cartoons, tooth knocked out and everything as well as using silvers unique quill shape to have the excuse to emulate maple leaves for her hair, always has some form of bandage or dirt on her no matter how many times her mothers tries to keep her clean.

eggman literally went “huh having a family is kind of neat actually” and then just instantly made like sixty kids. at once. it’s infinitely funnier than what the canon explanation will inevitably be and therefore it’s in my heart. survived certain death and went to make five billion robot clones of your arch nemesis to raise. also the universe still is forcing him to be a girldad in this stupid au btw. they’re all individual beings And they’re all also separately some form of trans feminine. thankfully eggman has canonical knowledge on gender and he's also gay married so he can support all infinity of his daughters (he keeps making them. he is enjoying fatherhood).

Hello! I hope your week has been kind to you. May I inquire of your thoughts about IDW Eggman written by Ian Flynn? I noticed his reference in one of your posts, and i would like to know how you feel about the direction Ian is taking the Sonic characters in in the Sonic franchise. I would also like to know what you think about Surge and Kit, the product of Dr. Starline's unethical experimentations. Mimic, the traitorous mercenary as well if you don't mind. Remind yourself to eat your meals regularly and to maintain a limber body!

I admittedly haven't gotten to sink my teeth in IDW- I'm currently following through @thankskenpenders' take on archie which I would like to finish before I start that. What I have seen is promising, but I don't consider myself educated to speak on those characters. I think Surge, Kit, and Mimic have very fun designs and seem to have a lot of potential, and I love the way the former two (and Starline himself) are nods to classic glitches.

As far as IDW Eggman, as I've said, I'm very interested in what Flynn and Stanley do with him! They're definitely a bit darker than I've always liked my take on Eggman- my formative Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 2, which featured Eggman as a protagonist in his own right, albeit a "dark" one. I've always liked the idea of him as half-honorable, and it's a balancing act to frame that with just how brutal and ruthless he can be. But I've grown to be fond of that- I think half-honorability stands out a little more when the other half is that... coldly efficient.

As I said in the post, I think it's interesting to take Eggman as someone who may have had noble intentions as a 'fixer' once but who's gone a good few strides further than that. In a warped way, he always 'helps'- but you may not appreciate his help. I think that plays well with him as a manipulator and a trickster who tends to play people against each other for his own profit and amusement- if he's always harmless or always terrifying that's a potentially fine character (there's much I like about SatAM Robotnik after all!) but it doesn't really hit me as Eggman in the same way.

Almost everything I've gleaned secondhand about the Mr. Tinker arc is fascinating to me because of that. Especially the way Sonic confronts Eggman afterwards, and makes it clear he isn't opposed to Eggman regaining his memory (Sonic is not someone who likes to take power or options away from even his worst enemies) but upset that Eggman threw away everything he had as Mr. Tinker, to which Eggman replies, almost wistfully, that that kind of life was "peaceful"- but he's got bigger fish to fry.

As I said in a previous post, at the end of the day, Eggman's meant a lot of things to a lot of people, and while I'll always have my own takes on the Sonic cast, the biggest thing I can hope for is that new versions of the story will experiment further. That willingness to try new things boldly is, in my opinion, one of the things that's kept the Sonic franchise as youthfully full of vitality as it is. I can't really find it in my heart to hate any version of Eggman- they've all got something going for them, from the silly to the horrifying to the aforementioned half-honorable to the completely vile.

now that i think about it, it's really funny that in the gameverse, sonic first encounters shadow after going on YEARS of adventures on his own. he'd already taken down death eggs, multiple metal sonics, entire badnik armies and eggman mechs, starting from when he was like 11yo max. and while he can hold his own p well, shadow can take him down in most canons but specifically has more than one route where he kills sonic in ShTH. he beat the entire squad in both boom and x, putting sonic in the hospital in the latter.

and then in the scu sonic has been on two (2) adventures, in both of which he almost fucking died. no wonder he's getting his ass beat immediately

sonic fans will be like "not everything should be connected to the gameverse" and then get mad when there's differences in lore/characterization/etc across iterations. like you can't have it both ways guys. sometimes things can have merit even if they're not 100% game accurate. a respectful or creative adaptation has just as much if not more worth than a painstakingly faithful adaptation. sonic prime giving sonic a very obvious character flaw so he could have an arc in a television show instead of being a static mascot character for the entire runtime is actually one of its better choices. in this essay i will

I had to draw something and decided to redraw this inspired by a scene from the movie and one of my favorite sections overall.

The hedgehog's heart was a maelstrom of emotion; he knew all this of course--well, not the family stuff. That was completely new to him. But as far as GUN went, he wasn't surprised. It was impossible to explain to anyone that Shadow used GUN as much as they used him. That he often was threatened for not taking missions or acting outside of orders on the missions he did take, or constantly had his access restricted and re-restricted because he'd snoop too often in the servers and go off on his own. Shadow was probably the only person in the world who could backstab GUN as much as he did and keep getting away with it simply because he was too powerful. They were a means to an end. Tails couldn't offer the same resources, he and his friends were too busy playing selfish, fun-driven, reason-less games with the powers they had to bother setting up proper information networks that even came close to a fraction of what GUN had to help Shadow in his personal quest to protect the world. Amy's Resistance was a farce now that she had properly disbanded it. The Freedom Fighters shells of themselves. But justify it to himself all he might, he knew what it looked like to everyone, and he had signed up for it.

Tails is one of the rare friends, if not the only friend, Sonic's met without it being tied to an Eggman scheme, and that extends to the movieverse: Tom met Sonic because the latter had to hide in the former's garage from Robotnik, Maddie met Sonic because the latter got hurt by Robotnik's mini bomb and the former was the only one capable of bringing him back to consciousness, Knuckles met Sonic because Robotnik tricked the former, and there's no doubt Shadow gonna meet Sonic because Robotnik's the one who uncovers the former. However, Sonic's loneliness blast was discovered by another lonely kid before any of that, and Tails didn't even decide to finally meet him because of Robotnik, but Knuckles.

In gameverse, Sonic met Tails because the chaos emeralds led him towards Westside Island long before Eggman even started any schemes there. And chaos emeralds don't just play around so to speak, they led him towards Tails

And in movie verse, Sonic's best friend found him the exact moment Sonic believed he would be alone forever

Even the universe itself guides these two towards each other. They are a Cosmic Truth, in every sense of the word

also like while i'm analysing metal sonic for fun neo metal sonic like existing is so interesting bc like. it’s a form made entirely by metal sonic. he can shapeshift in heroes he could look however he wants but neo metal sonic is how he chooses to appear (when he’s not actively trying to kill everyone). and that suggests so many interesting things i don’t even know where to start like. are the white stripes on him intentionally chosen to look like shadow? i mean, like, the whole shadow android thing suggests he definitely feels Something strongly about him. two, that means he chose the edgy ass spikes and shit and that’s both hilarious (metal sonic being wordlessly a drama queen is always fun) and also like… kinda sad bc like. it highlights the fact mentally he basically is a very angry and self loathing teenager like of course he’d go full coldsteel the edgehog on his very own sonic oc like Man. and third, it means that he gave himself a skirt. gnc king. metal sonic has canonically worn one piece of attire and it’s a fancy skirt cape thing good for him he should wear more skirts if he wants to he can be as gnc as he wants.

I actually really like the new lore they made for shadow in the movieverse, with him landing on earth inside a meteorite. It keeps his alien roots but also it feels a bit more grounded? It works for this different version of sonic. It makes more sense than Gerald creating him, because Mobians aren't commonplace on earth like in the gameverse. I do miss shadow being the cure for Maria's illness, but I'm very happy with the angle that the scientists were trying to create a new form of energy using Shadow's power. I'd love to see more of this version of Shadow's upbringing, because it's such an intriguing take. It also opens the door for Black Doom to enter the story... I think in a future movie/spinoff, ol' Black Doom's gonna try to manipulate Shadow using the whole "oooooooh I know where you really come from, trust me bro" angle, since shadow has no memory of his life before landing on earth.

(also kinda funny that he landed with the cool shoes and drip... Or did the scientists give him those later? Idk I'm so zonked lollll)

Can't wait until the film comes out on digital so I can analyze all the Shadow lore scenes.

I am a fan!!! I've been a very casual fan of sonic for years but only am just now actually trying to learn more about it. I totally support romanticey sonadow, but I think my personal fave interpretation of them is kinda closer to queer platonic. kinda like an in between of romantic and QPR. just like. soul bonded, a special relationship and they're important to eachother but not in the way just friends could be and they're kinda in love. u can tell I'm a bigger fan of movieverse than gameverse rn at least currently lol

these are some experiments I did trying to figure out a Gaia AU Tails redesign. changing the characters' species is kinda becoming a ~thing~ for this AU. I chose an island fox because of Tails's connection to Cocoa Island in the gameverse, which I equated to Costa Rica's Cocos Island because I love finding excuses to make Costa Rica relevant in my AUs. Cocos Island doesn't actually have any native mammal species, but island foxes are at least native to the same general area kind of. same hemisphere anyway. bonus sketches below
