i like to imagine that as soon as the words "someone arrived today, they said they're taking you away" left calypso's mouth, odysseus "sat at the beach every day for 7 years crying for his wife & son" of ithaca immediately jumped up wiped his tears away

then swiftly (without a glance at calypso), walked over to a bush/foliage near the beach and grabbed all the stuff he had been accumulating for 7 years during his prison stay, ready for the day he can leave this place.

Anyways thinking about the last instrumental in Would You Fall in Love with Me Again having the music from Just a man, Odysseus' 'I am' song at the beginning, when he's realizing that however much he's changed he's still the same man Penelope fell in love with, despite everything up til that point saying he was not the same man she knew, no longer him.

"I'm just a man, who's fighting for his life, deep down I would trade the world to see my son and wife" is exactly what he did and what he was always willing to do.

Ugh it's so narratively satisfying that that riff shows up again for the last time when he's accepting that Penelope loves him and she tells him he is the same person, even after everything he's done and all the development he's gone through.
