Conrad accepting Self-Loathing and her part to play in Elias’ mind? Her then being able to focus in on Elias’ actual wrongdoing and motivate him to take steps to make amends for it, instead of just focusing in on himself? Her being able to let go of spending her time focusing on his childhood passions, and letting them blossom? Definitely didn’t hit home at all, nope. 🥲

A. Tension for Mayor!

The image of Elias having fallen out of a window, shit himself, punched his boss and stolen a birthday cake, asking a woman out AND SUCCEDING- he did NOT need to worry about the dandruff so much.

The Fix and Pasha N. and their kids deserve the world. That reunion with Ichabod was so sweet- idk if hockey has low-stress leagues you can play in for fun, but I hope Elias found one if there is.

The idea of Danny and Conrad living together is amazing.

one of the things I love most about the madam loathing reveal is that of course the character that is cruel to children is the big bad of course

how many books and movies and tv shows aimed at children allow child abuse to be just a red herring or just something that the children have to get through on their journey and never even acknowledge that the abusers are genuine class A villains. not secondary challenges, not metaphors for the kid’s loneliness, but actual terrible villains.

In Mentropolis, I didn't think the fact that Madam Loathing was Self Loathing was a twist. I really thought it was obvious from the beginning and I didn't realise it was supposed to be something we didn't know. But saying that makes me feel big headed. I'm not saying it wasn't a good "villain" or character, it was, I was just confused that it was even supposed to be a twist.

I've read through a lot of posts talking about the implications of Madam Loathing's Home for Wayward Interests, both at the start and by the end, but there's a specific angle I've viewed it from (in part because of how The Fix would talk to Madam Loathing) that I haven't seen anyone else bring up yet.

Because, yes, there is the aspect of how the Loathing could be directed AT the wayward interests, especially with Ichabod being one of them and how much of a mess Elias is towards that whole part of himself, but I feel more like the Self-loathing is at Dropping the wayward interest.

"Magic/playing bass/learning about snakes was really fun, but where am I going to use it in life? I don't have time for any of that right now. Maybe I'll pick it up again once I finally have that free time back."

Except he doesn't, so he doesn't. But he still has those interests on his mind, because Madam Loathing is taking care of them. As much as she doesn't like them, and as much as she doesn't like the job, she's the only thing that kept them from simply being forgotten entirely.

It would be really nice if Madam (Self) Loathing came back from her vacation as Madam Self Awareness. A blooming sense of self awareness would be really appropriate for this stage in Elias Hodge’s life; let him really take inventory of where he was, where he is, and where he’s going.

I don't know if anyone has already said this but when you think about it Madam loathing and conrad are sort of opposites to each other.

Conrad is a kid who shrinks in on him self if an adult even talks to him

vs Madam loathing who grows taller and more dangerous when paid attention too

Conrad who collects lost memories and trinkets to keep safe

vs Madam loathing who collects wayward interests to hide and hate

Conrad who is so stunted he never got to grow up

Vs Madam loathing who, while being an old woman, is strong enough to threaten The Fix

I'm not sure where I'm going with this but I thought it was interesting and had to get it out of my head

Like I don't think Madam Loathing would have let them since she said she captured these children in episode 1 but do you think anyone ever tried.

I think some things are a twist for the characters, and others are a twist for the audience. Personally I hadn't realized that the two Loathings were siblings so I was satisfied. I also love the dramatic facial expression Brenna pulls when he's doing A Reveal™ even if it was something I'd already guessed. You can tell that he's in his element and the cast are amused every time

i'm making myself laugh thinking about this but I wholeheartedly believe madame morrible absolutely HATES the thought of glinda and elphaba being together like the mere mention of gelphie would probably send her into immediate cardiac arrest and it's not even because she's homophobic or anything I just fully believe she dislikes glinda so so much she's just like this is absolutely NOT happening in my house.

glinda and elphaba are having their gay ass moment and she's like "I sense a disturbance in the force; the wind is telling me those fucking lesbians are at it again."

like IK this woman hates to see glinda's fruity ass coming for several reasons but first and foremost I believe it's because she's so fucking ANNOYED by how much elphaba loves and cares for her, like this pink bitch is throwing a wrench in her plans just by EXISTING and being herself.
