Some interesting text found on the code: Part 1 - Leftovers from DQB1
Context: The stuff that appears in <> are control codes. I will translate what text they turn to in-game for ease of reading, so don't worry. Some of them have pretty obvious names though.
Note: I'm just one person, and I have no idea of anything ever, so if I get something wrong please tell me. please please please.
1:
Tumblr media
<Cap> = Capitalize the next word. <def_sgl_string(lstrl)> = Basically 'give me the name of this thing' <IfPlrNoun(fall, falls)> = present verb conjugation depending on if its singular or plural ['it' falls/'they' fall] "[Object] fall/falls apart!"
This is for when the equipment breaks, but they removed item durability in the second game so it goes unused. Scary thinking it was planned originally though.
Here's the line in the first game:
Tumblr media
(I also marked the training line- because I have no idea where that's even from honestly...)
2:
Tumblr media
<pname> = player name "[Player] is prevented from using items!"
This is a status effect from the first game. As far as I'm aware this is a 'final boss' thingie only. And I guess when they imported the status mechanic from the first game they didn't remove it, even though it's not used in the second game I think. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Here's the equivalent line from the first game. Mild spoilers for the final boss of the first game, although it's a decades old boss at this point...
Tumblr media
(I think the line differs slightly because of translation stuff.)
3:
Tumblr media
<pname> = player name <key> = waits for player input before continuing "[Player] will put the MAGIC CARPET away and leave everything where it is. Is this okay?"
Call me crazy, but I think there are no Magic Carpets on the second game...
Tumblr media
4:
Tumblr media
<pname> = player name <string(lstrl)> = 'give me the name of the base' <morf(he,she)> = Gender <morf(his, her)> = More gender <key> = waits for player input before continuing "[Player] will warp back to the base, but they will lose some of their items on the way. Are you sure you want to do this?"
This is the 'oh shit, I trapped myself in a hole and broke my hammer and have no items to build myself out of it' option in the first game. Speaking from experience. (Instead of waiting forever to starve you have a 'kill me faster please' option) It's completely removed from the second game, because you can always warp away, hammers don't pull a BotW, and you get to keep the expanded inventory throughout the whole game (you should always have access to some blocks...). The button screams 'bad game design too'. Why would you build a system where the player can just get stuck somewhere? That's not fun.
Tumblr media
Here it is in-game.
5...?
I had something else here, but it spiralled out of my control so I'm splitting up this post into 2 for clarity's sake. oops

I like the idea of asriel taking the knock off control but only in the context if he did it because That's What A Good Older Brother Would Do
In undertale chara and asriel were about the same age so asriel never really felt much responsibility for them
But in deltarune is an older brother with there seemingly a decent age gap between him and kris, combined with the fact that it's implied that asriel has a bit of an issue around what's good and what's bad in deltarune (him confessing for supposed sins despite the hometown faith having no concept of sin and more importantly him confession on behalf of kris, which personally if i had an older sibling and they did that to me it would feel pretty uncomfortable)
I feel like while asriel/flowey was a bit selfish and a bit of a sore loser in undertale, in deltarune I think he would have bought into his own image as a golden boy and because of that he'd do a lot of things because they're Good to do, rather than any kindness out of his own heart
Anyway I think deltarune asriel he's a loser but a loser because he's bought in into the idea that he's a Good person and because of that he does Good things, which im very excited to see him if true because that would mean I can definetly see him doing something bad or rude or just plain mean but refusing acknowledging it as Bad because he's a Good person, and Good people only do Good things
Basically because of life circumstances unlike flowey who's like "who cares about morals, I do what I want", asriel in deltarune would be like "I'm a Good person therefore I don't do Bad things" *proceeds to do Bad things and simply not acknowledge them as such*
Hopefully I'm making some sense here
no yeah i can see that kind of like, weird fixation on that happening, esp w undertale how he divides off good perfect asriel and fucked up evil flowey in ways i've talked about many times. he absolutely has a sense of himself that's very much like, following a checklist for goodness like i said, where he does the right things in the right order, etc.
i think why the controller confuses me in that vein is it's the sort of thing that Could have been one of those moments where he doesnt even realize hes doing anything wrong, bc he doesnt actually ever do any kind of self-analysis or any real checks of his morals. like, youre the older brother and the console is yours, and kris doesnt mind the knockoff (or doesnt say anything), and this is how it's always been, and why reevaluate when you know youre always being good?
but maybe kris did manage to assert themself, just once, over this tiny thing. maybe asriel realized he'd done something off, outside his framework. that he'd missed some wrongdoing he'd had.
and then he fixed it and added 'give kris turns on the good controller' to the checklist and that resolved it and he was good again :) no further introspection that reveals the yawning gap of "do i even have an identity" at his center :)

Armand thoughts:
Show-Armand is not nearly half as evil and gremlin-like as people make him out to be.
I feel with all his 'scheming' he merely goes with the flow of what is happening. He's smart and manipulative, but it isn't 3d chess he's playing.
I wanted him portrayed as truely unhinged in the last ep for one reason:
He would have had actual agency.
Yes, Louis is the manipulated one, but Armand still appears freakishly passive despite being the manipulator.
Armand needs to be connected to someone/something or he loses it. So he needed 'the old rituals' and he needed his coven.
Louis was this shiny new thing he felt drawn to but Louis didn't treat him with much love.
He didn't want to define their relationship or acknowledge it in front of others, didn't take him seriously and I'm not even sure he really did love him un the end.
That 'yeah I love him, but don't tell him, it will get to his head' comment, yeah. It was meant as teasing but didn't sit right with me. Especially given Armand's backstory and various traumata.
So Armand chose his coven for opportunistic reasons. Louis wasn't a sure thing. The coven was.
Which made him direct the play. But that wasn't a big plan, to me it was just what the coven expected, so he went all in (unless I missed smth there).
And when Louis took out Armand's security net- the coven, Armand went back to Louis, since he was out of options.
Also opportunistic. And yes, he lied. What else was he supposed to do?
During the confrontation with Lestat Armand stood around like a prop. Let himself be used in a humiliating way (that kiss in that context was gross).
And yes, at that point he had tried to get Louis killed, which doesn't make the whole scene more evil in my eyes, but actually pathetic.
He was just desperatly jumping from one to the other and back in hopes of belonging/connection.
In the very end Armand was just shocked, desperate and lost.
I don't feel anger regarding what he did.
I pity him and I want somebody to truely appreciate him.
Which wont happen.
Maybe I'm books-biased knowing his messed up backstory, he does have his wires crossed the wrong way (and acknowledges it).
Anyways in the show context (taking into account that most characters are messed up monsters) he is not more evil to me than others. And in no way a villain or antagonist.
I know Louis had horrible things happen to him because of Armand and yet it still feels to me like Armand is simply collateral damage in the Louis/Lestat drama.
At least he took action in turning Daniel, which might also be out of desperation.
He tied himself to the person, who took his last security net, like he always does. But since there isn't a deeper connection between them yet, Armand bailed (for now).
I'm not entirely happy with what the show did here, but Assad's phenomenal acting definetly makes up for it.

"Also yeah, Korra being very distinctly brown is part of why she's masculinised so much. And I also want to note that, from what I've seen, hyperfeminity in woc is still mocked and talked down to and dismissed as trashy. Too many times have I seen a fashion trend be applauded on the white girlies when its critiqued on the women of colour whom the trend originated from." - this is the real tea. As a WOC who was (and still is ) heavy into more girly aesthetics, when I tell you that WOC were getting dragged by both white girls and girls from their own community (for "acting white/weird" )...........the coquette wars of 2020-2022 in particular was a wild time. Because we can't ever seem to "girl/woman" correctly.
Yeah, the I salute the femmes of colour out here in the trenches. I mostly see this on the Internet, as Poland is still a mostly white country (though ofc there are growing numbers of Poles of colour), so I'm not extremely well versed on the nuances of the topic, so please feel free to correct me if I say something wrong/tone deaf, I am trying to be respectful.
But it's always pissed me off that there is some weird, narrow margin of "correct girling" and most folks do not make the cut. And frankly, for those of us who don't fit into the boxes to a T, that perfection is unnatainable. And the standards shift all the time, with different body types and clothing styles moving in and
Of course, this hits women of colour especially hard, because acknowledging their femininity is terribly inconvenient for a lot of people. Throughout history, femininity and women have been seen as worthy of protection (albeit that "protection" is questionable at times) and WOC are one of the most attacked demographics out there. Which is why I assume so much effort in media and social structures is placed into keeping history's favourite punching bag away from that prized podium of femininity.
Which, circling back to Korra, who began this whole discussion, definetly fits into why people are more comfortable percieving her as masculine. It makes it easier to dunk on her or call her mean things, or not have to acknowledge how hurt and victimised by multiple parties she's been, and not acknowledge that she is 💕just a girl💕.
Its a sad phenomenon, but sometimes it feels like if you don't perform femininity correctly and are a "failed woman", you lose a bit of humanity in the eyes of those around you. Which is bloody unfair, as per the aforementioned unnatainably narrow margin.
Sorry to sound like the woke joker for a second lol
I can't speak on experiences of folks of colour, ofc, but being queer and growing up in a mostly conservative enviornment was also rough and I was surprised by how much critique and criticisms my presentation drew. In preschool and the begining of middle school, I was a tomboy purely because I was athletic and played with legos, despite wearing skirts often and playing with dolls in equal amounts. Through the tail end of middle school and high school, I was very into the Lolita aesthetic, which was considered Too Girly and Showy for me at the big age of 13. I remember my grandmother repeatedly berating me for tying my hair back with ribbons for some reason lol.

I think you’re in the wrong here. I’m Jewish, I don’t think you’re Jewish but correct me if I’m wrong. I think you’re missing a lot of cultural context here and it’s not your place to go after a Jewish author for how they portray a Jewish character. I don’t think the author cares if you apologize or not, their post was just clarifying that they’re Jewish and Julian’s sweater in that fanart is something they own. But to me your comments felt pretty fucking insensitive so bragging about refusing to apologize only hurts other Jewish fans.
Okay, before i get into anything i wanna say that nowhere did i brag about not wanting to say sorry? I don't want to say sorry to the creators cause i genuinely don't feel sorry. I know i was in the wrong for assuming stuff, i acknowledge that.
I am not Jewish, but i don't think that means that i can't comment on stuff like this. And just because they are Jewish doesn't mean they can't represent a Jewish character in a weird way (I'm not saying they did, it's just a general thing)
When it comes to the sweater, in the image i saw the sweater was cut out weirdly so, again, i assumed it was Christmas related because, again, it wouldn't be the first time i saw someone in the fandom put Julian in a Christmas sweater. I assumed, i was wrong for assuming
I didn't think me saying that Dorian and just in general the Arcana fandom tends to forget the Devoraks religious backround and that I'd like seeing more of their traditions represented in the popular stories, especially around the holidays, was antisemetic or insensitive, it was critical if anything (which i said in later posts not in the original one). I am sorry to you or anyone else if you felt that way, i know i could be a lot nicer when i talk about dorian and maybe just think a bit before i post. I never expected the creators to actually see the post and if i did, i probably wouldn't have said anything or at least i would've worded it differently.
Also, side note, if they didn't want me to respond or apologize or whatever, they didn't have to screenshot only my reply and post it while having me blocked, just saying (i am kinda bitter about that)
I don't think I'm gonna respond to any more stuff like this if i can help it, mostly cause I'll just be repeating myself. In short, I'm sorry to people who found my comment insensitive as i meant it in more of a "i wish people explored this part of Julian more" way then anything. I'm not sorry to the creators, i think they kinda suck from both this and past expiriences. I definetly was wrong and I'll think more about what i post next time.

I totally agree with some of your opinions there, specifically I don't believe you can blame the lighthouse incident solely on Satomi or Yuko, and of course I don't blame Keita or Yutaka for ruining Shinji's plan.
For the lighthouse, the girls did have an agreement that they wouldn't bring any boys in, so I'm not surprised it would bring more of them on edge (even if he was injured). Especially Yuko, who 100 % believed she saw Shuya murder someone before. If Shuya had just been a master manipulator (like Mitsuko for instance), Yuko would have been a hero for trying to save them all. She was convinced she was about to save everyone's lives! And Satomi hadn't slept at all and just watched one of her friends die, knowing someone else in the room had poisoned her... I can't blame her for freaking out either. In regards to Shinji's plan, you're so right that the only one who ruined it was Kazuo. All Keita did was show up and beg for (who he thought was) his friends to let him join them, after being scared and alone for days. And Yutaka can't exactly be blamed for just dropping something either. That could happen to anyone! Thanks for sharing your ships too! I agree with most of them, but I got really curious about Kazuo/Satomi. Why? I'd be interested to hear more about that one! It's nice to see someone else ship Izumi/Toshinori too (even if it's a fandom one, I've grown so fond of it. Not as fond as of my OTP Mitsuru/Izumi, but very fond!). Like you, I like Tadakatsu/Yuka, Yukie/Haruka, Yuichiro/Mitsuko, and Shinji/Chisato lots too. And I could get on board with the KF in almost any pairing, so Ryuhei/Hiroshi is a good one too. I can totally see the appeal of Hiroki/Shinji, and I've definetly seen some fan art of it on Pixiv, so you're not alone!
I think the lighthouse situation can come off as hypocritical in Yukie’s part as well.
They have decide to not include boys and Yoshimi so that they won’t face any potential danger, but then Yukie want to bring Shuya in just because he is injured and she loves him.
In AB manga it have her saying “We are here together because share hope, but if we refuse to help an injured person right in front of our eyes then our hope are nothing but a fraud.” This line is good but still they have let go so many of their classmates: Boys and girls. We refuse to help them because we need to save ourselves. Why Shuya is the one you want to “share hope” with outside of group? Even Yukie acknowledge she was bringing her personal feelings into it.
That’s what I feel like the first crack among the lighthouse girls, As in my headcanon, that’s the moment Satomi lost all her respect for Yukie. She is a close friend of Yukie so she know latter love Shuya and Satomi is also a logical person so she possibly see through Yukie’s speech is just a cover for her to bring Shuya inside.
Satomi already can’t sleep due to fearing that she will die, having Yukie so recklessly bringing people inside just because she want isn’t helping anything either. That is what I think why she is so hostile towards Yukie after Yuka dead.
I guess that’s mostly fans doing, both Shinji and Kazuo have a lot of fans while Keita just a minor character who was too scared to help Shinji back then, he is the perfect scapegoat. And for some fans they have to drag Yutaka into the same category so that Shinji can be painted as the one who doesn’t do anything wrong. But nowadays these kind of fans slowly decline so this is good. (Still why no one blame Kazuo back then is still a mystery to me…)
(Also I suspect manga might play a factor in it? As Kaita was adding way more asshole quality than the novel while Yutaka is the one who cause Keita to find the place but in the novel it was Shinji. And some fan likes to mixed these things together and voice their opinion. It’s just my thought though.)
As for the Kazuo/Satomi ship, I first seen it in a fanfic called “Iceberg” in FanFiction.Net, I really like it, it’s very in character and I am interested in this ship.
If Satomi ever gonna fall in love to a boy then it must be those smart and elegant type, which Kazuo fit. But consider Kazuo is the leader of KF, Satomi would struggle a lot about her feelings… it’s just have so many interesting idea that could happen between them!
It doesn’t have to be romantic since you know Kazuo is Kazuo, it’s just one-sided Platonic on Satomi’s side and Kazuo might respond to it based on his coin.
Yes, I remember seeing those! They are also the ones that inspire me to ship them, but compare to other it’s still a rare ship though. But hey, at least I am not alone! So that’s good.

Hi! I'm here for the favorite animal reading, it'd 🦒
Thank you~
Hello friend! Thanks for your patients, been going through up and downs so I’m glad to finally be able tot give you your reading ❤️
Tumblr media
Oh wow play and magic, super interesting. Let’s see, so off the bat for me I see dolphins as extremely carefree so if you need that kind of energy of free loving play they are definitely helping you out with it. I know how life can get boring! But besides the obvious of what dolphin energy can bring into your life; you may relate to the animals that lay before you. With the dolphin you may have a playful side, personal jokes and silly humor, if this is more about what they are helping you out with I can see they are helping to make the waters less bumpy, especially during this intense time. Go with the flow sticks out to me, you will get through it. Paired with the owl I can’t help but find you extremely wise. Even though dolphins are more known for their silliness/playful nature, they are also extremely intelligent (I feel like you already know that though). The owl is a really analytical card and I can’t help but be reminded of Athena goddess of wisdom and her owl companion, this is what I see. The owl I believe is a key to your observational mind and they definetly are around you much longer than the dolphin. (Maybe your life long animal guides say if that resonates)
These animals are helping your out with getting through a hard time and to also see the good things you have done already; you are beautiful and have much to offer to the world. It may be rocky right now but both animals are sending you a lot of loving yet logical energy that will help you stay leveled even in a hard or charged situation. I’m sorry if you’re going through something very rough, you may not feel really helped at the moment but they are trying and reaching out to assist you. Confidence is also a big thing they are assisting with. I’m not sure what you need confidence on specifically but you have some powerful guides being really loud in my ear. They keep saying how you see things deeply and from different angles. Please believe me when I say they want you to give yourself credit more often and acknowledge yourself even if others don’t. You are pretty tough from what I can see even if you do not see it.
I hope this kinda makes sense I know how it can feel wrong to get compliments when you don’t see it yourself but I can say that from a different angle you may see these as true. Extremely wise people can get to stuck in their heads sometimes but I really hope these encouraging words reach you. Have a beautiful night of day wherever you are and I recommend looking into these animals further, you are intuitive listen to your gut!

Teens of Style for that album ask game!
[I just found this in my drafts, sorry for the delay and I haven't added anything so this may be incomplete]
thankss
The best song on the album
Suburned shirts, maybe. or Something soon.
My favorite song on the album
These two are kind of very similar, but ok. Something soon probably. It's definetly the one I've listened to the most. It has got me through some tough times. It's encouraging, acknowledges one's own pain and taught me a new coping mechanism (biting clothes).
My least favorite song on the album
maybe no passion. or psst, teenager take off your clo.
The most overrated song on the album
I suppose the would have to be Maud Gone, the most popular song on the album. It has 14.5 million plays.
and you might wonder, what criteria do I, "the love songs are wrong"*, have to think a song is overrated? yeah. So it's a slightly plain love song. It's short.
*that used to be my url, for those new here
Most underrated
Times to die maybe. Itt's so gooood. And is among the lesser known on the album (though the least known is "stranger" on spotify). It's on like 4 of car seat headrest's albums for a reason. I guess it's not that underrated but it's great so yeah.
Rate from 0-10
8.7 I suppose.

ok so listen. In the grand scheme of things, none of this matters, its just a video game and I shouldn't get this worked up about it. But my god do I need to talk about this.
Like I am not surprised that a white man from north america, who has gone on record to call the qunari "islamic borg" and back pedalled on saying that the dalish are definetly not inspired by indegenous people at all, would say some shit like this.
But its still BAFFLING to me to come out here and say that the group of people who are *taken from their homes as children*, who are abused and raped, who are not allowed outside contact with the world, who cannot hold lands or titles, who can get their identity erased (hello 'anders is not his real name'), who can get their own personality and personhood stripped from them is somehow, a story not about oppression but about gun control. 🤡🤡🤡
Don't get me wrong. I think thedas having a prejudice against mages makes for an unique world and interesting storytelling. but what is the goddamn point then, if you refuse to actually engage with what that means.
This is why they couldn't actually fucking adress the goddamn templar and mage war in DAI. Because that would require understanding why the mages are revolting and to do that, you'd have to acknowledge that YES, the chantry IS wrong in how it treats mages and that it needs to change. But I guess that's too fucking radical, and DA does not seem to ever be actually interested in changing the status quo.
Its just INSANE to me because like how can you add something as cruel as the rite of tranquility. something as cruel as the stories of mages being dragged away from their homes, and not think its about opression. to be SURPRISED, even, that most people would disagree that mages are dangerous. Because to me, the mages being at risk of posession was always a lame excuse, considering that heightened emotions seem to attract more demons and guess what? being constantly abused would definetly heighten certain emotions ( PROPS to dorian in that one VG ocdex entry for poiting that out).
How are we NOT supposed to think its about opression when you have examples, IN THEDAS, of mages who live outside of the chantry and who aren't dangerous? Hello, seers of Rivain? The Avvar? Tevinter is filled with mages and you don't hear stories of 'random mage gets posessed and kills 70 people'.
Its just baffling to me that it feels so much of what I find interesting in regards to this whole mage thing is apparently unintentional or intentional in the WORST way possible. For example, I was thinking about how mages are very dehumanized within andrastian socities, to the point where they are treated like they're not even citizens of that nation. I felt that when Meredith talks about "protecting the people of kirkwall" and my first thought was well, the mages are also citizens of kirkwall so how is that fair. Another point is the fact that mass murdering mages is fucking a-ok. In ANY other situation, killing a bunch of people would be wrong, but because mages are seen as not-human (and i say human in the sense of person), its fine to kill all of them.
And now I'm thinking that yeah all of this is happening bc the fucking writers themselves also don't see the mages as people.
This is why the topic of blood magic keeps running in circles. Because the writing is on the wall: so many blood mages that we meet in the games turned to blood magic as way to fight back against the templars. They're doing it OUT OF DESPERATION. Even fucking Anders can point out as such, when you're looking for grace he says "They raised the bloody dead. they must be desperate" because guess fucking what.
It doesn't matter how powerful mages are. It doesn't matter that they can lit things on fire with a snap of their fingers and this or that. Because even with all this power, THEY ARE STLLL NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO FIGHT AGAINST GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TEMPLARS. WE GET TOLD THAT REPETEDLY; Wynne tells us the mages won't survive the right of annulment, Orsino says the thing. Its almost like, if you have a heavily militarized group that has the ability to cancel out the magic, SUDDENLY they are actually stronger than the fucking mages.
like david, you wanna take a fucking wild guess as to why people don't see the mages as dangerous as you put? BECAUSE YOU MADE THEM OPRESSED. YOU DID, EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T MEAN TO. HOW CAN YOU BE SO FUCKING BLIND TO THE OWN SHIT YOU WRITE.
its just....gah. I shouldn't be worked up about something from 2020 but its just so. incredibly. baffling.
I FOUND IT. I FOUND THE FUCKING THING I WAS LOOKING FOR.

Clingy?
Pairing: Chris Sturniolo x Fem!Reader
Contains: explicit language/mentions of sex/angst?
Tumblr media
Should I buy this one or this one?” You ask Chris, presenting two tops. The static music of the H&M dressing rooms proves prominent over your voice. Chris shrugs and languidly points to the brighter one, seeming indifferent. You sigh, grabbing what you’ve already tried on. Leaving the rest on the rack. “Sorry I know you don’t like it here, I'll check out fast.” You say, discarding both the tops in hand and making a bee-line for the register.
Chris looms behind you, engrossed in his phone. Normally he’d show interest, tossing a dirty joke into your conversation about how he likes you better without clothes, at least maybe humming along the stores indie beats, but his time on his phone stays consistent.
“Your total is sixty-seven ninety-nine ma’am.” The clerk drawls, shoving the T’s in a bag with no regard for the neatly folded stacks they were formerly in. You swipe your card quickly and clutch the bag, hurriedly wishing the clerk a nice day before locking your hands with Chris’.
“Sorry, I know you don’t like H&M.” You atone. He lets go of your hand, as if you wouldn’t notice if he let go leisurely. He replaces your hand with his pocket and shrugs. “S’fine.” He mumbles, keeping his head down whilst he walks.
You continue walking, sitting in an awkward silence Chris had assumed for the two of you.
Why did he drop your hand? You try to brush it off not wanting to be dramatic. Maybe his hand was getting sweaty? Maybe it was cold and his pockets warmer?
You walk past the food court and Chris walks towards the nearest McDonalds barely acknowledging you.
“Hey!” You claim, grabbing his wrist light-heartedly to stop him from continuing. “What’s wrong?” You ask, sincerity lace in your tone. Chris frowns, shrugging out a casual “nothing.”
You cross your arms, wondering what has your boyfriend so moody all of a sudden. “Okay..” you hesitate hoping he’ll decide to open up, but to your dismay you know when Chris doesn’t want to talk he won't talk. “Fries then home?” You suggest. “Yeah,” Chris whispers in response. You snake your arms around his neck, going in to peck his lips, his movement is subtle but notable. Especially for the one going in to kiss him. He moves his head slightly to the side so you kiss his cheek - not his lips.
You pull back quickly, wide eyed, cheeks burning with embarrassment. He looks at you like nothings wrong, like he didn’t just completely contest your kiss. You purse your lips, blinking rapidly to stop a flood of emotion.
“Go get your fries.” You say, offering a small smile.
The Uber ride back was eerily silent. The drivers' crappy music is the only thing on blast. You're on your phone the entire ride, lost in thought.
He didn’t want to hold your hand and he blew off your kiss. Is he mad? You think.
Your mind burns with thoughts, mostly wild thoughts. You think for a second he’s cheating on you, but shove that thought away when you meet eyes with him. That’s stupid. Then you think maybe he’s horny and your touch was setting him off too much but drop that thought too. He definetly would’ve fucked you in a bathroom stall if he was that worked up. You sigh lightly, trying to escape from your rapidly escalating thoughts, deciding you’ll ask him what’s wrong when you two are alone inside.
Any acquisitions of anger are lost once you step in the door. Placing your crinkled bag on the countertop you inspect the shirts you bought. Chris stands behind you, hugging your waist from behind, letting his head fall to your neck. “Your shirts are nice.” He hums.
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Yeah..” You voice, skepticism in your tone. “I thought you were mad at me?” You question, turning to face him. Chris shakes his head, “Why do you think I’m mad ma’?” He asks, biting his lip. “Well at the mall you were acting like something was wrong, you didn’t hold my hand and you blew off my kiss.” You say, trying to keep emotions from flooding your voice. Chris pauses for a second, shoving his hands back in his pockets, “That’s just how I want to be in public.” He deadpans.
“What?”
“I mean, you're always so clingy and P.D.A shit is so cringy, I don’t want you to be all over me all the time it’s embarrassing.” He scoffs.
You blink, taken aback by all he’d said. You never really asked if you could be touchy with him. You'd assumed he was okay with it mostly because of how much he’d initiate physical contact. Now you felt like a complete asshole for invading his space. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know I was making you uncomfortable.” You confess, feeling your stomach drop.
Chris nods, appreciative of your apology. “I think I’ll go to my room now” You stammer. Chris nods again. Watching you walk away.
Chris was growing more and more irritable every time he saw you. It wasn’t you - no - you were his lovely girlfriend. It was your lack of affection towards him. At first, he thought you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, maybe your period. So he ran out to get you a chocolate milkshake. But when he’d brought it to you and you said a meek, “thanks” before closing the door on him again he was dumbfounded. What was wrong?
The three of you sat on the living room’s lengthy couch. You, closer to Nick than Chris. Chris is painstakingly irked by your division, scooting closer to you, trying to scan your face for expression but you just smile at him. “Hi.” You say leaning up for a kiss but quickly halting yourself. It took a lot to break your habits. Chris blinks, taken aback by your action.
You sink back into yourself, arms folded in your lap, and legs crossed slightly. Chris knows this as your “nervous position”. It how you sit in the doctors office, or when there’s a weird old man next to you on the subway. Not how you sit when your on the couch with him,
Tension rises in the room, none of you audacious enough to say a word. Nick's curious eyes dart between the two of you trying to meet one of your expressions. Both of you avoid his gaze, knowing what his eyes will ask: What’s wrong?
“Fresh love in twenty minutes!?” Matt yells storming into the room excitedly breaking the tension. Chris’ brand planned to drop in twenty.
“I don’t really have to do anything,” Chris admits. “The team runs the site for me so we just get to watch what happens.” He laughs a wide grin of excitement across his features. “Woohoo! Fresh Lovee,” Nick sang, performing a clapping motion with his hands.
Chris was watching his sales like a kid. Smiling every time he got a notification. “Jesus Christ! I sold out in three minutes!” Chris yelled, throwing his hand in the air. “What!” Matt calls peeking over Chris’ shoulder. “That’s crazy.” He pats Chris’ back, then backs away. Chris waits for your congratulations. All he really wanted to hear.
Every time something big would happen. A subscriber milestone, brand deal, and occasionally a Fortnite win. You’d jump into his arms. Clinging to him like a Koala, whispering in his ear how proud you were. It made him strive for milestones, your affirmations being something he craved.
Chris smiles widely, his eyes meeting yours. You move from the spot you're situated in to meet him. “I'm proud of you.” You hum. Chris stands frozen a second, awaiting your movement, but you perk your arm up. A high five? He’s more taken aback than he’s been the entire morning.
What. The. Fuck.
He taps his hand with yours and you walk away. “Did she just..”
He wanted you to pay more attention to him but all you did was offer small smiles and short answers at his attempts to spark conversations. He was beyond fed up.
“She just gave you a high five!” Nick laughs. “Shut up you stupid fuck!” Chris huffs. Storming after you his initial idea bursting into your room and demanding you tell him what's wrong, but ending up retreating to his own bed and posting on his Instagram story.
From Chris Sturniolo: You guys are crazy. Can’t believe Fresh Love sold out in three minutes. Love Y’all <3
Your demeanor was chipping away. You sit on your bed, knees pulled to your chest. Chris was angry today. Maybe still angry at you, but you were trying your best to make him happy. That didn’t mean it wasn’t hard. It was weird to see your boyfriend and not coddle and kiss him like you have for the past year. but when you think of that it just makes things worse, knowing he’d gone an entire year letting you make him uncomfortable with your affection.
So you stayed locked in your room, thoughts of going back to your apartment clouding your mind. It was weird to be around Chris and not kiss and touch him, you just had to distance yourself a bit. Just to adjust. To make him happy you reminded yourself.
“Okay, what the fuck is wrong,” Chris yells barging into your room. His voice is loud but sincere. You're at a loss for words, confused by your boyfriend. “What do you mean ‘what’s wrong’” You chide.
Chris sighs, throwing his hands against his thighs. “What do you mean, ‘what do you mean what's wrong?” Chris whines. “You’ve been acting weird all day!” You hear the serious undertone in his voice and click your phone off. “Is there someone else?” He whispers fear of losing you laced in his words. He didn’t want to believe you were falling out of love with him. He couldn’t let you go - he’d never date again.
“No! There’s no one else what are you talking about!” You chide. You’re completely lost, wanting to hug him, console him, hell maybe even high-five him again, just to feel his touch. You can tell he’s frustrated by the way his voice raises in pitch. “C’mon Y/N, just tell me what's wrong so I can fix it.” He begs. You blink, tilting your head in confusion.
Chris flops onto your bed, groaning loudly, when he’s down with his mini temper tantrum he rests his head on your stomach, nesting into you. “Are you breaking up with me?” He whispers tears fogging his waterline.
You glance at him briefly, briskly wiping his tears away, not wanting your hands on him too much. His heart sinks, you didn’t kiss away his tears, didn’t hug him, didn’t tell him you loved him or how proud you were.
“No, I’m not breaking up with you.” You laugh. Chris breathes a sigh of relief, cozying into the crook of your neck.
You sigh against his touch, hesitating to wrap your arms around him, leaving them to lay awkwardly at your sides. Chris fixes this himself, grabbing your hands and manhandling himself into your embrace.
You clear your throat, breaking the silence, “Where are these thoughts coming from baby?” Chris sniffles slightly, shaking his head against your shoulder, “If you don’t want to break up with me why are you acting like you want to break up with me? Like you don’t want to be around me?”
You freeze in place, moving your head down to place a kiss on his temple. Chris melts to your touch when he finally feels your hands in his hair. “I was giving you space Chris, I don’t want you to think I'm clingy.” You sigh.
Chris pauses, his mouth falling slightly agape. Clingy. He called his sweet loving girlfriend clingy and she stopped being affectionate because she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.
“I'm the worst.” Chris claims. You laugh. “No you're not, if my touch makes you uncomfortable I’ll be less affectionate, that’s what a good girlfriend would do.” you gulp. “I’m sorry I didn’t know.” You apologize. Letting your hands fall from his hair. “We can be like bros or something,” You ramble. “Bros that’s fuck - unless you don’t want to fuck, oh god, have you not wanted to"
Chris cuts you off. “Your overthinking's going to kill you one day ma’.”
He felt guilt eat him up, he loved when you babied him. When you’d hug him, ask if he’d had any water to drink, occasionally spoon-feed him when he was exhausted. He felt like a terrible boyfriend, a letdown of a person. Hearing his heart drop with your apology.
You look down at him, pruning your lips. “I'm the biggest asshole ever,” He starts, “I was mad at Matt and Nick yesterday and I took it out on you, you're not clingy, and even if you were clingy I’d love it because I want you with me every hour of every day.” You blush, feeling the weight on your shoulders dissipate.
“You're not mad?” You ask timidly.
“I'm not mad.” He confirms.
“Thank god.” You breathe. Tackling him in a hug.
“I'm sorry ma’, I’m so sorry I made you feel like that,” Chris whispers.
You and Chris are at top golf two days later. You go back to your affectionate self - for the most part.
The two of you hadn’t been out in public since his outburst. You still semi-doubting his words decided to steer clear of public affection for the night.
Chris was not having it.
He kept hinting that he wanted to hold your hand, subtle enough to slip past anyone not perceptive. He was growing more and more agitated with the minute.
You knew he wanted to hold your hand. You picked up the hints but didn’t comply. He had missed your affection in private but you were in public this time, you didn't want to stress him. After a few more attempts, each one becoming more and more obvious Chris was spent, refusing to let down his ego and simply ask to hold your hand. “Why don't you want to hold my hand?” He frowned.
“Oh-I-uh were in public… you don’t like P.D.A…?” You stammer, tilting your head.
Chris furs his eyebrows, his golf club hanging loosely in his hand. “I want to hold your hand.” He mumbles against your ear, “I want to kiss you and show you off. Hand in your back pocket like they did in the 80s if you won't let me do either of those.” He rasps.
You're taken aback finally interlocking your fingers with his. “You want to kiss me? In front of all these people?” You squeak.
“In front of all these people,” Chris confirms. Pulling your lips to his.

It's so fucked up that Edward thinks of Carlisle as his dad rather than as his brother or something. Imagine being 23 and adopting a 17-year-old
Hey!
First, this made me laugh, thank you.
Second, yeah, that age difference always made me feel a little funny. I suspect that the casting crew for the movie felt the same way and that's why they chose some older actors to play 20-something year olds.
Now, as I acknowledge how silly it is for a 17 year old to view a 23 year old as his father figure, I also think this is very in-character for Edward Cullen.
He is just a sad little emo boy on the inside, which is totally fine and there is nothing outwardly wrong with being a little sad and emo.
Imagine this sad little 17 year old boy, his parents just died. He is now a demon walking among mortals, destined to kill for sustenance until the day he eventually meets his end (which also is a little improbable). Then, he gets this man telling him that he doesn't have to constantly view himself as a demon, that he has more worth than he perceives. This feels quite similar to a parent telling a sad middle-schooler than their pimples aren't that big of a deal.
It's this consoling behaviour, the constant reassurance that Carlisle doesn't believe Edward is the devil on earth, that he believes Edward is good and moral, that explains why Edward views him as a father figure.
While there is definetly a funny little physical age difference, mentally they are in completely difference ball parks. And, socially/connection-wise, Carlisle seems all to willing to step into the fatherly role of providing emotional support to this sad emo child.
Now, if we want to talk about how Alice or Jasper view Carlisle as a father figure, I will happily sit here confused and a little disturbed. I think that Edward viewing Carlisle as a father figure is more understandable than Jasper viewing Carlisle as a father figure.
Anyways, that's a conversation for another day!
Thank you, Anon, for sending in the ask! I look forward to hearing from you!

I think something twst does really well is show the characters improving in a realistic way. No one can change overnight which makes the aftermaths of the overblots so interesting. I think it’s shown the most through Riddle during Book 2 you get to see him changing, trying to adapt now that he’s acknowledged what his mom did. You see him slowly improving and of course he isn’t perfect none of them are, but you get to see them make active efforts to better themselves- 🦭
YESSS YOU'RE SO RIGHT ONCE AGAIN 🦭 ANON!!!
I had a conversation with Gabi about Riddle in the reblogs of one of my oneshots (see here, just scroll down to the end) in which we mention a chapter of the anthology that makes this change very clear (this one!) and as you mentioned yourself in the Floyd ask, there's one chapter in which we get to see it more! in my Azul brainrot I also mention how I like the change in his acts and how he puts some efforts into being better. in my writing I love to explore this aftermath and their inner thoughts on it, especially in this Azul oneshot in which his overblot ends up a little differently!
I have individual thoughts on how each character reacts and improves after their overblots, so I'll go over them really quickly!!
first I just wanted to go over the concept of an overblot on itself. it's mentioned at the beggining that's a rare and dangerous occuring, but at NRC it happens every other month after MC's arrival, so that must be shocking. an overblot also leaves them sore and exhausted, both physically and mentally, as it's the result of the dangerous combination of too much magical usage and too many negative emotions due to years of distress. it's truly interesting how MC and/or Grim seems like a trigger of sorts to these overblots, as I believe there wasn't any before they suddenly appeared, getting involved in the middle of each of them. it's definetly not a coincidence how some of the most powerful and influential students suddenly overblot on the same time period, almost as if there was some higher force making it happen on purpose, for some reason. I hope it gets more explained in the future, perhaps after chapter 7!
as stated, I feel that Riddle, for being the first overblot, has gotten more time to show how much he's changed. from the tyrant from the start of the game to an actual dorm leader worthy of his title! he hasn't dropped his appreciation for rules entirely, but he won't go around cutting other people's heads for minor things. he's still strict with proper conduct and Heartslabyul's students' grades, but in a less overwhelming way, as he's seen how the way he's been taught to do things was wrong. during the second chapter, Riddle is much calmer and more rational, he helps MC solve the mystery even when he didn't have to do so. he was a great help at Leona's fight, and it's due to his quick thinking that no one was hurt at the stampade stunt. even when it's hard and causes him some mental turmoil, Riddle has reflected upon his actions and does his best to change for the better! having Trey, Cater and Che'nya by his side, lending him support, is probably a big motivator, as well as Ace's judgment and sharp words, as he's not afraid to speak his mind and call out people who are in the wrong. Deuce's admiration for him also contributes to it all, as he'd like to set a good example for his underclassmen to follow. all in all, Riddle has improved a lot in his behaviour and I'm very proud of him!
Leona is a complicated case, in all aspects. before his overblot, he had such an intense inferiority complex he didn't put effort in anything, thinking he wouldn't be recognized either way. not only that, he stays stagnant at NRC, most likely because he didn't want to have to go back to his kingdom where he's always second place. it's due to this that he tries to win against Malleus, spelldrive is one of the things he's best at and he used to be recognized for it before Malleus appeared and took his spot. for someone as smart as Leona, I feel that the plan from chapter 2 is kind of... half assed? him and Ruggie appear scheming all smug, but it's a pretty shitty and obvious plan, honestly, and he had potential to do something better. maybe, some part of him couldn't bring himself to care, since he was so used to being second place, it's not like that would change anytime soon. and that's why Lilia's words are so important, to make him realize: he wasn't second place because the world is against him and won't recognize anything he does, but because he can't bring himself to put an actual effort into things and get over his pride and ego to do what's best. I could go on about that but I didn't even get to the point yet, so I digress.
going back to the main topic: after Leona's overblot, I don't think I see him changing that much? while in Riddle's case it's plain to see how he's been trying to be better, Leona seems the same as before. he doesn't go to classes nor starts taking an initiative in things, much less apologize for hurting Ruggie and putting so many people in danger. (not that I expected him to actually say "I'm sorry", but maybe show in his own way that he regrets what he did?) even in chapter 3, he doesn't help because he wanted to, he begrudgingly does as MC suggests only because it benefits him too. I don't believe for a minute that Grim and MC posed any threat to his sleep, as he could easily beat them up and get it over with. no, Leona went along with MC's plan an destroyed the contracts because it was what he wanted all along. in the previous chapter he had made a deal with Azul in order to get Ruggie's potion, so he must have wanted to stop beind indebted with him and/or get back whatever it was that he bargained.
don't get me wrong, I do like Leona a lot! when I first started playing, he was on my top3 characters, and even though he isn't anymore I'm still rather fond of him. it's just... disappointing to see how much potential he has and how he doesn't do anything to reach it. one way for him to change would be to drop the unbothered attitude and actually start making an effort. there's still a long way for him to go, and only he can take the first step. I do like how his problems aren't all solved after a little motivational talk (and being beat up), since his overblot doesn't change his depression, nor his country's political state, nor his family issues, nor his complexes.
Jamil's and Kalim's relationship is a major theme of chapter 4 and very connected to Jamil's overblot in the first place. I like how Jamil becomes more open after it, even if he's blunt and rude, possibly making him seem worse than before. the thing is, before he only hid what he was thinking and kept it all to himself, bottling up his emotions to the point that they end up exploding. afterwards, even if he voices his annoyance and is pretty harsh with his words, not trying to spare Kalim's feelings, it feels better that he's being honest for once. the work his family serves under Kalim's family creates a very complex relationship between those two, as there is a power balance, no matter how much Kalim tries to treat him like an equal. Jamil should always present himself as less than the heir of the Al Asim family, should always follow along his heat of the moment decisions and make sure to keep him safe between the sea of shady students that could take advantage of his naivety and positive thinking. the way Kalim's childhood molded him into such a different person, almost the complete opposite, from Jamil also aggravates their dynamic's problems.
anyways! as I discussed in Azul's post, I like how we can also see a change in how he does things post overblot. while he still might do some shady deals, his focus goes into his business and ways of improving it, showing his change of perspective. he no longer tries to hoard other people's powers, as he finally recognizes his own merits and learns to be proud of them. he's still cunning and witty, not losing the interesting parts of his personality, but he's changed on how he uses those traits. he isn't suddenly one of the "good guys" and he doesn't do things out of the kindness of his heart, as he wants people to believe, but he's improved a lot from how he used to deal with things, even helping MC on chapter 4. (he also had other interests, but he didn't necessarily have to help MC, even if he felt indebted to them for the help during his overblot fight)
I throughly enjoy how the consequences of a change in their careful and fragile balance are explored in chapter 5, with Jamil finally putting himself out there and letting his potential show, not holding back, and Kalim feeling frustrated for the first time for not getting what he wants, and how it makes him understand better where Jamil is coming from and be more considerate to his feelings. all in all, even if Jamil doesn't become a good person in the traditional sense, as he's still sassy and deceitful at times, it serves to help him improve himself in a more internal sense, to try to be more open with Kalim and to break some of the old patterns he's been taught to follow.
Vil is quite interesting, as he's the only character that overblots that I liked a lot straight away. I didn't pass through the phases of "I hate his guts he's so annoying" to "alright he's not that bad" to "wait I think I might like him" like I did with the others. and I'm not saying he didn't do a lot of wrong things, since besides almost poisoning an innocent person, there were also times when he acted out of line and showed his arrogance, such as when he fought with and made Epel cry only to prove a point, without much respect or care for his feelings. still, he also felt more reasonable than the other overblot characters, as he's more down to Earth, shows his hard work and efforts, and is up with social causes like gender equality and not conforming to toxic masculinity.
by the end of chapter 5, he expresses regret (as he "wishes they hadn't seen him in such an ugly state") and keeps his head high as he performs with Neige after losing. he doesn't seem to particularly feel sorry about almost hurting Neige though, and maintains his feelings of animosity. I have yet to see how he behaves in chapter 6 and how he might have changed, perhaps by trying to find compromises when things don't go the way he wants them to and by praising people's efforts rather than only criticizing their errors.
so! I agree anon, TWST does very well show that things don't change overnight and that there must have some effort put into these changes. the characters' problems aren't magically solved by the power of friendship (and violence), but they can get started on working on them. acknowledging your mistakes and trying to improve is rather hard, but a very necessary part of personal growth. with each passing chapter, I hope we get to see more about how the overblots have changed them and how they have improved themselves!

to be fair I also hate simple hate. Sounds dumb, is logical. Mostly hate like this isn't born out of the need to criticize what is infront of someone but because of weird views.
Disliking something is always okay, where that stops is simply using said dislike to be weird, also hope this makes sense.
Here is my stuff. I love Arcane. I literally have an entire page dedicated to it, I still have Sevika as my pfp, I very obviously do not hate it. I stand in a place of disappointment and criticism with how Christian Linke and Amanda Overton especially handled season 2. I've seen videos going full on critic on season 2 that I found incredibly weird (some dude weirded me out so bad I swear)
So. I get it. I do.
I also agree that Arcane did push said limits successfully. In season 1. Season 2 missed the mark spectacularly. Though I think act 1 of season 2 still set up a lot of things in a good way, the fact that those things just either weren't addressed, thrown away or forgotten is weird. Though again, agreed with your take on what makes storytelling hard. The thing is in storytelling there is a god. As odd as that sounds
the god is the person creating the story, meaning that what happens is actually something that can be narrated as opposed to what happens for us humans in real life.
That's why calling CaitVi abusive can sound strange to people for "the creators said it only happened once and never again". Because that's the thing, the creators can say that. It is odd and misunderstanding how abuse works, but they can say it and make it canon. And that isn't a thing that only happened in Arcane, for some reason a lot of media creators do this. Why? I don't know.
Especially cause that doesn't work irl. And I think understanding that works for the critics as well as the people praising, if that makes sense. What they did there was an odd choice that leaves criticism and praise in a limbo because "the creators said" but "abuse works this way". The creators said it didn't happen again so generally speaking it isn't abuse but it did happen and in real life there isn't a creator who can say "it'll never happen again" so creators misunderstanding and using this wrong is weird and needs to exist as a take as well.
again I think season 1 did this well, especially with the dynamic between Silco and Jinx. Silco definetly loved Jinx and saw her as a daughter, and that didn't take away from how he still wasn't a good person and not a good influence on her etc. I also think what they did with Caitlyn in act 1 of season 2 was good. Not in a sense that I think it was positive but that it made sense for her.
They just weirdly enough didn't use that set up and that's what weirds me out and makes me say season 2 is just ugh, especially compared to season 1. Had they actually had the guts to make Caitlyn and CaitVi toxic, and I'll die on this hill, we and I especially wouldn't be here in this specific discussion because it'd make a lot more sense.
also thanks for acknowledging that using "nazi" in such circumstances is maybe odd, usually I'd also have to fight people here haha. But same, I also love history and true as of today there are similarities in what happens (it is insane here in germany right now) just not in fandom like this, it's just a very hard word that gets thrown around a lot when it shouldn't (though definetly don't stop calling out actual fucking nazis. they deserve nothing else.)
"Caitlyns redemption arc isn't very good."
Maybe she doesn't have a redemption arc.
May be Arcane isn't about redemption.
May be Arcane is about flawed characters who are neither good nor bad.
May be Arcane is a show that shows us that good people can do horrible things and how our society and the people we have or don't have as support can shape that.
Good people can become horrible. Not because it is innate within them. But because of their life experiences.

I love it when people talk about things they're passionate about, tell me something cool!! Anything you want, just something you find interesting or want to talk about :D
hello anon my beloved, I am in a bad mood so you will be receiving a passionate, yet lowkey of pissy rant about why villainizing bakugou makes me wanna vomit and its NOT just because I'm a dumbass kinnie :)
tws: child abuse (emotional and physical), near death expierences, bullying, kidnapping, suffocation, lots of trauma in general tbh. if you've seen bnha then basically just keep all the general triggering plot stuff in mind incase i missed any warnings
also, note: I havent caught up on bnha in a minute, I'm at like the start of the war arc but I barely remember shit there tbh so like. probs missing new stuff. also bnha spoiler warnings lol
so, for starters, the homie bakugou has like,, a good handful of issues that come from his childhood that explain why he's an ass. he was always praised and never actually reprimanded for being a twat which led to him having a huge ego that ended up fucking him over majorly. this ego was something that his mother acknowledged him having, but literally didnt try to fix it with anything other than violence. see here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, instead of trying to help him, she hits and insults him, which is probably what led to his weird inferiority/superiority complex. being constantly told by others that you're outstanding and one day you'll be a top hero because you're rude and aggressive and then going home and being hit by your mother for those exact same behaviors is bound to fucking confuse a child.
so like, now that we've established that its definetly canon that his mother (parents? I think he said parents at some point but masaru doesn't seem like the type so 🤷) hits him though we don't know how much or how often (though if bakugou was as much of a little shit back then ((which as far as we've seen- he was)) then it was probably often), lets talk about how regardless of all that 1) hitting your kids as "discipline" not only doesn't work but is abusive lol like idc if it's spanking/popping them on the mouth for talking shit, slapping them across the face "on occasion", etc. shits not okay 2) hitting your kids!!!! does not work!!!!!!!! it is literally PROVEN not to work!!!!!!!! hitting a child who has done something wrong doesnt teach them to stop doing something it teaches them to be scared of you, which will cause the child to withdraw, removing part of their support system (assuming said abusive parents would even offer that up) and will most likely lead to them thinking they're a bad person, not that their actions were bad, which are two different things. so, ya know, that would clearly have an effect on a kid. like, as someone with a mother who reminds me all too much of mitsuki: I have acted like a complete shitbag and taken my anger out on people to feel better in the past because of the way my mother treated me. though it was nowhere near what bakugou did, I still know first fucking hand what a mother hitting and insulting her child will do, especially if they have no proper outlet for that (friends, a safe place to vent) which bakugou never fucking had.
theres also the fact that just talking to your kid the way mitsuki does (saying it's his fault he was kidnapped because he's weak, all while hitting him) is not??? okay?????? ive seen people arguing that this was just a joke in poor taste but like her son was KIDNAPPED and even if it was a "joke" there's literally NO WAY that would EVER?? BE FUNNY??????? she just sounds like the kind of parent who at the very least says shit without thinking that would traumatize bakugou (because being told right after being kidnapped it's your fucking fault by your mother is absolutely traumatizing) but it comes across as her being emotionally abusive.
mitsukis character as a whole comes across as a shitty mom who doesn't realize she's a shitty mom and thinks bakugou being an ass isn't at least partially her fault even though she's admitted to realizing he has always had an ego problem and doing nothing to fix it except for hitting and yelling which obviously did nothing but make him just as loud and violent as she is.
this is obviously not the entire reason why he's a dick but he was never properly taught that the shit he was doing wasn't okay and people not stopping it and/or praising him endlessly even tho he was a bully is basically the same as encouraging it, thank you very much.
moving on from that, let's talk about bakugous other traumas and how he naturally responds to them. hint: it's with either full blown panic or a fight response (verbal or physical, though usually physical. also sometimes it's the panic followed by the fight response.)
so far in bnha (keep in mind that I am not caught up, I've only read up to the beginning of the war arc and i barely remember those bits so) bakugou has...
nearly died via sludge villain (he was unable to move and was being suffocated to death- keep this in mind)
lost for the first time ever and against deku of all people (this nearly sent him into a full blown panic attack, likely because of that sexy little inferiority/superiority complex combo. think of this as like. gifted kid burnout lite. he has always been the best of the best and now suddenly he is being beaten by somebody who has always been weaker than him, which immediately makes him start thinking he was never actually that good, he's actually a fucking failure, a goddamn fraud)
won the sports festival by default (bakugou counts this as yet another failure because todoroki didnt try his best. had bakugou lost to todoroki full strength, he would've taken 2nd place with a bit of bitching, but he still wouldve taken it rather than refuse the medal as it would be a reminder that he failed. instead of accepting that like UA shouldve, the staff chained and muzzled him on live television and then had all might, his fucking idol, force the medal into his mouth. remember the sludge villain incident and how he couldnt move and was suffocating to death? yeah.)
been kidnapped because of the way he reacted to winning during the sports festival (he was aggressive and tried to refuse the medal because he felt he didnt deserve it and was then retraumatized by being chained up and muzzled. his "villainous attitude" was a fucking trauma response, do not tell me otherwise)
was then chained up once again by the LOV after being kidnapped,,, do we see the "retraumatize bkg" theme yet?
"ended all might" (he literally blames himself for all mights retirement because had he just not have been weak, all might wouldve had more time, right?)
my point with all of these is that bakugou has been severely traumatized and has then had his trauma responses (aggression, fight) used to further demonize him. not all people with trauma react the fucking same and the way the fandom just refuses to acknowledge anger as a valid form of trauma response is gross as hell.
moving away from that topic, bakugou has literally never had any actual friends, they all just used him and didn't care about him which absolutely will fuck up a kid, especially one who already has all that other shit going on. bakugou deadass never had a support system or people to help him grow as a person, let alone properly work through his fucking emotions so it's not surprising that he would take out his bullshit on the one person who tried to help him especially considering he saw dekus actions as him thinking he was weak. bakugou was raised to not seek help, he thought somebody strong shouldnt ever need it, so for somebody like deku (who bakugou percieved as weak and helpless already) to offer up help? deku must obviously think bakugou is even weaker than him, what other explanation could their possibly be!
speaking of which, there's his heaps of insecurities that he basically hid by being a twat and bullying others for most of his life. kid was so insecure he bullied deku for fucking years cause he thought deku looked down on him, thought he was better than him, etc. and that only got worse bc his idol then decided to take deku in, train him and even give him his quirk. there's probably some shit im missing but still he's got issues and always has had issues. that being said, he's actually improving and working them out now which is what makes him a really good, interesting character. it's also nice to see a character who is a dick without some tragic backstory (like his backstory is sad but its not the classic "my family was fucking slaughtered and i turned into a raging bitch who murders people" type shit) bc that rarely happens and it's like most assholes don't actually have a story like that they're just assholes lol
now lets talk improvement! lil bitch has been getting better since he got into UA and im so happy abt it!! he had a rough start what with deku suddenly having a quirk and all but like he is really improving now and it highkey shows that bakugou just mostly needed people who 1) didn't constantly praise him and actually criticized him instead 2) actually fucking punished him doing stupid shit and 3) some motherfucking friends
Since going to UA he's gotten actually feedback from teachers about his weaknesses and how to get stronger, he's lost against others, hes been told he has a shit attitude and is a dick, told he should be nicer and leave deku alone, etc etc. He hasn't gotten in trouble too much with teachers but others give him shit for what he does and aizawa has punished him too, while still acknowledging that bakugou is an amazing and dedicated student, something which no one else had done up til that point. and uh???? homie actually has friends who like,,, don't use him and also call him out when he's a dick. like specifically kirishima has done this shit and him and bakugous relationship is clearly very healthy and beneficial for the both of them. makes me feel all happy n shit, ya know
bottom line is: while it is absolutely valid to dislike or even hate bakugou because he is a massively flawed person who has been very cruel to others, villainizing him for the way he acts which in large part seems to be from a lack of guidance, a shitty mother and heavy amounts of trauma, is fucking awful. his actions cannot be fucking excused, he needs to apologize and continue to grow, but he is also a fucking teenager, who is just now being told that the way he acts is unacceptable by people who dont fucking abuse him (and I swear to god if any people who think mitsuki isnt abusive interact with this fucking post I will fullstop hardblock you, I do not fucking care) and actually treat him like a normal person instead of some prodigy child or someone who needs to be fixed.
people are free to debate my points or whatever bc I know some of this stuff is up to interpretation but like. dni if you're just here to say you hate bakugou for xyz reason or that he's irredeemable. also especially dni if you compare him to fucking endeavor yall bitches make me gag.
anyways thxs for the ask anon <33 sorry this is a kinda messy info dump lol

Handing Over the Mantle
HC of when the dorm leaders’ hand over their position to the first years au series
Heartslabyul ver
·       On the day of graduation, everyone was in the Garden of Roses, holding the grandest tea party that has ever been seen in  Heartslabyul Dorm
·       Ace and Deuce were seen arguing, this time over the fact they stole each other’s tart. First starting with pointing at each other, Deuce was now chasing after Ace after Ace snatched the tart he had just picked up
·       Riddle sighs and exasperatedly grumbles how those two never cease to fight causing Trey to chuckle. The now-retired vice dorm leader points out how it was their way of showing each other that they care for each other, while Cater backed Trey on the side, fondly saying that the fact they argue like this means that’s how close they were
·       Riddle’s eyes shut close while the skin between his eyebrows creases as he takes a sip of tea from his cup when Trey and Cater bursts out laughing when Ace tripped and caused the tart to land on the ground, leading to them arguing again
·       When their laughs finally came to an end, the trio shared a comfortable silence as they continued to watch the rest of the dorm members enjoy the tea party
·       It was Cater who breaks it, asking if Trey or Riddle had over told Ace and Deuce
·       Riddle replies no before he gets up and calls Ace and Deuce over
·       Cater, seeing where this was going, panics while Trey tries to calm Magicam king to call down and trust Riddle
·       By the time Ace and Deuce comes over, Trey and Cater were already standing a foot behind Riddle
·       Riddle tells the ADeuce duo to stand behind them before he starts tapping his spoon onto his cup to gain everyone’s attention
·       Out of habit, everyone immediately stops what they were doing and gives Riddle their attention though trading glances when they see Ace and Deuce at the front with the rest of the trio
·       Opening his mouth, Riddle starts a speech. He talks about how much Heartslabyul had changed to become a much more powerful dorm because not only the follow rules, but also put in the dedication to make the dorm as such
·       While Riddle talked, Ace and Deuce were giving each other looks, whispering quietly here and there as they asked why Riddle would want them to stand with him. Though, every time they did, Trey or Cater would nudge them and remind them to shush
·       And when did that ever stop them? Ace and Deuce hasn’t once listened to Trey and Cater unless it was about something serious which often led them to get yelled at by Riddle. So, when  Riddle shot the two a glare for a quick second, Ace and Deuce straightened up and stopped
·       Despite making neutral faces, Ace and Deuce were both sweating from head to toe. They were becoming anxious as only bad thoughts were crossing their mind. Heck they were thinking about all the recent rules they broke 5 minutes ago that might’ve became known to Riddle leading them to stand. And I mean, you can’t blame them when Riddle can detect a rule breaker 100 meters away
·       They didn’t expect to get their arms pulled by Riddle, being dragged to stand next to him
·       They DEFINETLY didn’t expect Riddle to proclaim Ace as new dorm leader and Deuce as vice
·       Ace and Deuce chorused with the rest in their proclaim of surprise while Trey lifts his hat in acknowledgment and Cater saying “Congratulations” to them
·       Deuce continued to stand there blankly while Ace quickly snapped out of it and asked Riddle what he meant
·       Turning his head towards Ace, Riddle gives him a look of “are you okay” before he answers the obvious
·       Ace face palms from the answer before he further clarified why Riddle was suddenly proclaiming that he and Deuce were going to be dorm leader and vice when they weren’t even told about it
·       Riddle continues to give Ace a judging look before he sighs and answered how if he had told Deuce and him, they would’ve freaked out and chose not to appear when their names get called
·       Ace tries to defend himself at least but the stares he was getting from everyone told him that no matter what he said, it would go unheard since they knew him too well
·       He sighs before he looks at Riddle again, further questioning Riddle. He and Deuce were rule breakers – they broke rules multiple times, caused chaos wherever they went, and argued nearly 90% of the time. Just from those 3 reasoning alone, there’s no way Riddle would approve of them for either positions
·       It took a minute for Riddle to process what Ace had said before he finally understood where Ace was coming from
·       Looking straight into Ace’s eyes, Riddle talks about despite those reasons (and how it often lead him and Trey to get an headache since they end up cleaning up their mess), the short red-head senpai started to talk about how Ace was someone that was easy-going, quick-witted, and someone who’s able to get along with everyone perfectly fine
·       Riddle mentions the OB event that now had taken place a year ago of how it was thanks to Ace, he was able to improve himself to become a better dorm leader to Heartslabyul. And it was because Riddle remembered that moment, it led him to believe that Ace was fit for the role. It showed Riddle that Ace was capable of being able to analyze like a great wizard and point out people’s flaws not to shame them but to get them fixed
·       Seeing Deuce finally getting himself back together, Riddle continued how the duo were always seen together, making the right decisions that would best benefit everyone, while having each other’s back. They’re both each other’s voice of reasoning and unhesitant to correct the other if they do or say something wrong. Something that was much needed and the biggest weakness he and Trey had when they were leading Heartslabyul
·       Deuce wasn’t good with befriending others like Ace, however his skills of making sure no one went over the line, doing his best to follow the rules,  and being there when it counted the most showed that Deuce was a strong support – a vice dorm leader that could hold Ace and the dorm
·       Trey and Cater gave their few cents here and there while Riddle was saying all of this, pointing out how the two were able to deal with most of the OBs when they couldn’t and continued to protect their dorm’s honor during the time they went against RSA
·       Seeing how no words were able to form from the ADeuce duo, Riddles gets Ace to come closer to him before he places the crown on Ace’s head, the cape around his shoulders, and finally the scepter into his hands
·       On the side, Trey gives Deuce a sheepish look and apologizes that he couldn’t give him something as cool as what Ace was given before affectionately places his hat on Deuce’s head
·       Cater continued to take pictures on the side, while Riddle gets Ace to face the rest of the dorm with him along with Trey who does the same with Deuce
·       When Riddle re-announces that Ace and Deuce are officially Heartslabyul’s new dorm leader and vice dorm leader, it finally sinks in the two that their senpais were now going to leave
·       They held their head down, trying to hide their tears as Riddle started the graduation farewell address
·       In their heads, they wanted to tell Riddle to repeat a year and retake 4th year since Riddle had chosen to skip 3rd year
·       Half way through the address, Riddle starts to tear up as he apologizes to everyone the pain they had suffered through during the first half of his leadership, telling them that he continues to regret hurting them as well as having a hard time to show he cared for them
·       At this point, everyone was crying including Trey, who was covering his eyes with one of his hands, and Cater, who kept on wiping his eyes every so often while filming the whole thing live on Magicam
·       By the time Riddle reached the end of the address, Riddle gives them the happiest and softest smile he has ever made as he finishes by stating that Heartslabyul had become his pride and he couldn’t ask for any better dorm other than this one
·       It takes a while to get everyone to stop sobbing including the five that were up the front
·       Ace and Deuce tears continued to hit the ground as they were getting patted on the head or shoulders by Riddle, Trey, and Cater – the 3 of them trying to convince the two to stop crying despite having tears rolling down their face
·       When things calmed down, the all stood up while Ace, Deuce, Trey  and Cater walked towards the front of the table before yelling out all together “Dorm leader Riddle – Thank you very much!” and bow
·       Ace and Deuce both swore to Riddle that they would make him proud by leading Heartslabyul into its most powerful state as Riddle covered his face to hide his tears that were falling again
·       The graduation tea party ends with everyone lifting their cups and sharing a toast as they celebrated the last day of Heartslabyul’s graduating seniors as Ace and Deuce clicked their cups with Trey, Cater, and Riddle all together as symbolism of ending the era of the Crimson Ruler and the starting of Heartslabyul’s Golden Age

Study Cuddles
First post! I don’t know what to say so just read this fluffy interaction with Belphie.
You had exams coming up. Not only did you have your daily tasks from being an exchange student, now you had exams on subjects vastly different from the university courses in the human world. Spellcasting was difficult, Soul-taking was unsettling, and even PE was way more extreme than you had hoped it to be. At least your culinary classes had helped you cook things not especially harmful to humans, or feed Beel when it turned out they were more harmful than you’d like. Math was at easier than all your other classes, as you had a few years to learn algebra before you even got to this hellish college. But this algebra question on your study guide had you stumped. You had been sitting at a table in the cafeteria for hours doing your assignments, studying for the exams only a few days away. Lucifer had been pestering you about it until you gave in. Your room would have felt too cramped with all the textbooks everywhere, so you moved to the cafeteria. You began to regret it, however, as your back began aching a few hours into the study spree. You had been so focused on your work and your pained back that you hadn’t noticed the footsteps behind you.
“What are you doing here?” You jumped ever so slightly at the sleepy voice and turned around to face violet eyes brimming with curiosity under a fringe of black and white. “You should be sleeping.”
“Why? What time is it?” You replied as you turned back around to check your D.D.D. It was 11:00 at night. So you had been studying for 9 hours straight. “Oh. I-i hadn’t realized-” You cut yourself off, flustered that Belphegor, of all people, had caught you this late studying. “Wait, why aren’t you asleep? You’re always sleepy, so why are you awake?
Your question had visibly caught him off guard, and he stumbled over his words while responding with “I...I couldn’t sleep.” Couldn’t sleep?! You’re the Avatar of Sloth, how can you not sleep? Your head was full of questions and claims contradicting his answer. Just as you were about to ask them, however, you noticed his puffy eyes and hesistated. He had been crying. That’s why he wasn’t asleep.
“What’s wrong?” You weren’t sure how else to ask him; you weren’t sure what else to ask him. All you knew in that moment was that he needed comfort. He stayed silent at your question and sat down to your left on the uncomfortable bench. He looked incredibly sad in that moment, and your heart ached for you to do something about it. It pained you to see him that way and not know what to do to help him. He leaned forward onto the table, crossing his arms and laying his head down. You could definetly see him shaking slightly, and your heart shattered.
“Well, I’m going to keep studying. You can stay with me if you want.” Belphie didn’t make any move to acknowledge you. He just sat there, unmoving and silent. You tried to direct your attention back to your textbook, but hadn’t even gotten through a few sentences before you glanced back at Belphie. He hadn’t moved a muscle. You reached up with your left hand and stroked his back, feeling him shake beneath your touch. His breathing evened out slightly, and he slowly calmed himself down as you tried to focus on your textbook.
“MC?” His voice was somewhat calm now, and you hummed in responce. “Can I stay here? Just for a while?” He turned his head to face you now, and you could see the pink on his cheeks. Giving him a warm smile, you nodded. He sat up suddenly and wrapped his arms around you, holding you close as if he never wanted to let go. You hesitated before returning it, and there you stayed for what must have been a solid 3 minutes. He finally released you and you could feel tingling where he had hugged you. He sat silent for a bit, his face a bright red for a few seconds. You couldn’t help but giggle at how flustered he was in that very moment. He stood up from his place at your side. “Scoot forward, I have an idea.” He said, facing away from you to hide his still pink cheeks. You raised an eyebrow, then shrugged and did as he asked. He sat behind you  with his legs outside yours and wrapped his arms around your torso, leaning on your back and placing his head on your shoulder.
“There, now I can sleep comfortably and you can study.” He said, smiling widely. You could feel your cheeks flush at his touch and leaned forward. You mind was racing, and you desperately tried to distract yourself with the textbook in front of you. He turned his head to the side and lay still as your mind raced. Your heart was thumping so loud you thought it might burst. How could he sleep so peacefully with your heart this loud? Surely he could hear it. Yet he still lay perfectly still, softly breathing. You could feel his chest rising and falling against your back, and before long your eyelids felt very heavy. It wasn’t long before you found yourself laying down on top of the textbook you needed to study, on the cusps of sleep.
Studying for that exam will have to wait until tomorrow.
