i don’t watch episode eight like ever but old man Rust, full of manic contempt for technology, standing over Marty patiently narrating what he’s doing on a computer and Rust trying to direct the magic box to the information he wants, pacing while Marty actually finds it is so fucking funny
#old grandpa who yells at clouds and the kid who reminds him how to log into his email#I know when they got computers at the station Rust read the entire user manual so he never had to ask anyone for help#but you can’t convince me he touched a keyboard other than the one at soldotna public library#oh god i had an idea#when will it ennnd#true detective#rust cohle

Bless be upon Alaska. I've been lucky enough to have visited twice for 2 weeks, then 1 week. I'm from Texas, so Alaska was genuinely the first place I ever went where I encountered boomers actually acknowledging and arguably grieving about climate change. It was the year of our Lord 2015 and I had barely encountered anyone over 40 who'd even say it's real, let alone be concerned.
They don't have a choice up there. They're watching the glaciers recede, they see less snow sticking to the mountains every summer, they get a thunderstorm and they KNOW it's rare enough to be concerned.

Two Alaska troopers attacked a Native man with an extensive K9 mauling, taser, then discovered they had the wrong guy. | IncarcerNation.com
Two Alaska State Troopers from the Kenai Peninsula are facing assault charges for using excessive force — including a Taser and a lengthy attack by a police dog — while arresting the wrong man, according to rare criminal charges filed against them this week.
Trooper Jason Woodruff and Sgt. Joseph Miller are accused of pulling a 38-year-old Soldotna resident out of a parked GMC Denali SUV at a Kenai park on May 24 after breaking out a rear window and pepper-spraying him inside the vehicle, according to a charging document filed Wednesday and signed on behalf of Alaska Attorney General Treg Taylor.
They then allowed a police dog handled by Woodruff to bite the man for more than a minute as the man attempted to comply with commands, screaming and begging for the dog to stop, the document said. Miller also shocked the man with a Taser twice, punched him and stepped on his head, it said.
The man’s injuries included a fractured scapula, muscle lacerations including a torn triceps, and an open bite wound on his upper left arm, according to the charging document.
The case appears to be the first in Alaska involving criminal charges filed against on-duty troopers for using too much force, state law officials said.

A high school friend of mine went on a trip to Virginia with her parents and someone asked them if they had indoor plumbing back in Oregon.
didnt wanna add this to the post about europeans + usamericans being bugfuck stupid about Ukraine and considering it like. some kind of supermarket-and-electricity-less wasteland HOWEVER i just wanna point out that some people are just fucking Stupid.
i moved out of texas when i was young (around the first year of middle school) and the first question one of my fellow students (over the age of 10) asked me was whether or not we had tvs in texas. i legitimately had her convinced (for several hours) that no, we didnt, and we didn't have cars either, and all of the technology we produced was put into texas instrument calculators and none of the rest of us were allowed to have anything more complex than an electric oven
now okay, i forgive her because she was in fact a literal child

finally got around to blocking this! I was really hyped for it but it… looks bad. The neckline is not fitting at all, it’s like the ugliest turtleneck you’ve ever seen. Maybe the bust is too small and it can’t fall down far enough? Maybe I needed to knit a size up? Maybe I needed to have kept using the small needles between the neckband and the colorwork? I can’t decide if I want to rip the whole top off and reknit it? Or just like fold down the ribbing to hide it completely? I was so excited for this ): not happy about having to put in extra effort
