AITA for encouraging my son to keep going with karate training?

I (90M) come from a long line of accomplished martial artists, and we are all very proud of it. Personally, I have mastered karate, and back in my day I competed in lots of high-level tournaments and even acted in a few martial arts films. I am trying to pass my knowledge and enthusiasm for my sport to my son (55M), just like my own father did with me, however he seems ungrateful and unwilling to master karate. I have kindly given him a place to live, in the basement of our house, and I have dedicated a lot of my life to providing him with the highest-quality training I can, however he is nothing but tired and frustrated with me.

I admit that my methods may be rather unconventional, however I believe that they are the best way to help him master the sport, as they worked well for me when I was learning. I have spent vast amounts of money on various objects, mainly flowerpots, barrels, lightbulbs and cooking pots, which I throw in his direction in order to train his punches, kicks, combos and overall sense of rhythm. I even invested in a few bombs to really test his reflexes and help him overcome his fears, however my son was afraid and confused rather than excited and grateful for the challenge. I additionally found an old soccer ball which he had in the basement and repurposed it to use as a punching bag, however he was also upset at me for this, for some reason. I just wanted to put it to good use in his training, after all! No matter how much training I give him, he is still yet to master karate, and he is improving much more slowly than I hoped.

This all came to a head the other day when my son told me that he was fed up of the training, my house and even complained about my cooking! He mentioned that he was thinking about finally moving out, however I reminded him that we agreed years ago that he must master karate before he moves out of the house. This only seemed to anger him further, and he said that he didn't even want to do karate, and all he wanted to do was to be a soccer player. I found this extremely ungrateful - all I wanted to do was to pass down a family tradition and my love for karate, but he wanted to go and play soccer, of all things? I don't understand why he doesn't get my point of view and why he isn't happy to have all this training from a master like myself? Anyway, he seems to be pretty upset, so I'm wondering if I maybe was a bit too much of an asshole.

they meet completely by accident because This Space Kicker In Particular (who I'm calling SK) gets a try again in space soccer and crash lands outside the karate family residence. he's fine though, probably because he's subject to cartoon physics or something (might rewrite this bit of the lore bc it's kinda goofy but it's the first thing I thought of).

v predictably they start out playing soccer together, like they take a ball to the park or whatever n just having a kick around. but they move on to hanging out in a non-soccer context pretty quickly. i imagine sk's really curious to see what earth is like (it's probably his first time there), like he's filled w whimsy and joy just to go to the cafe n stuff :) joe is meeting him behind seniors back!

sk isn't joes only friend - hes friends w yuka n the wandering samurai n a few others, but i don't know if he's actually close with them? partially because he's busy training, partially because he's quite a reserved person, n to me at least I think he struggles a lot with self-doubt/feeling inadequate for anyone around him (partially as a result of the way he was raised). not to get Angsty on main but I think he ascribes wayyy too much of his self worth on his training... I think he has a tendency to try and isolate himself from others, both physically and emotionally

sk is the opposite (tropey ik lmao) - he's v outgoing, silly n carefree almost to the point where he gets on people's nerves sometimes (he's cowboy sk's "annoying little brother" to me). I don't think he fully gets/realises exactly why joe is v reserved but I think he manages to grow close w him in spite of that... idk how to word it. but I think he's such a ray of sunshine he's able to break through whatever exterior joe has put up for himself (ik how cheesy that sounds but yeah)

ive made a post about this before but joe is v v v affection starved (because Basement) and does a terrible job at hiding it to the point where he just melts over the smallest things. sk meanwhile is suuuuuper physically affectionate so yeah

I haven't worked out exactly when this happens but I think they just kinda fall for each other over time, it takes a while for both of them to realise its mutual tho....

joe alsooo gets flustered veryyyy easily (source: karate man 2 ds superb screen). sk probs picks up on this right away lmao

im thinking sk is out here dropping the most obvious hints... but joe refuses to believe that sk would see him in that way. idk he probs does the wildest mental gymnastics assuming that sk is just being nice or it's like,,, a social norm up on his planet lmfao.

but yeah he eventually works it out too in the end... probably partially because he begins to learn to be a bit more confident in himself over time. i think they get to a point where they both v much know it's mutual but r too awkward to do anything about it/don't wanna mess up their close friendship/are too worried about the logistics/implications of living on other planets n senior. so they don't like acc Say anything or whatever for a while. but it's obvious n only gets worse over time lmfao. see the pic above the cut

in my mind palace they end up going to the battle of the bands (joes a huge fan of the rockers but he's never been able to see them live before). and ummm after the concert they end up sitting outside live house ogu watching the stars together,,,, and u kno,,,, they kith.... woaw,,,,, but yeah I think because botb is the 1 time in game they "meet" (if u can even call it that) I thought it would be cute if it's where they end up getting together as a couple :)

hmmm like inconsequential shit unrelated to the main story but they find remix 9 cat as a stray kitten at some point during all of this n joe takes it in... i think I could do a follow up post about what happens next in the lore after botb because this is already mega long but they eventually end up living together on sk's planet and the cat comes w them :)

oh adding this on acc after I posted it, but I think when joe meets sk it's like,,, the first time in his life where he hasn't felt lonely...

"I'm sorry." Van cups a hand around her ear. "You want to give that to me again?"

"It's not that I don't think your job is hard," Taissa says smoothly. "It's just, y'know, pretty sedentary."

"Sedentary," Van repeats.

"Comparatively. Yeah. You're in a--" Tai motions with her hands: parallel vertical lines squared in by parallel horizontal ones. "Little box."

Van stares at her. Her cheeks are growing pink, her eyes wide. "Little. Box."

Taissa grins. "Come on. I'm out there sprinting my tits off, and you're--"

"Little. Box." Van is slowly shaking her head. She reaches out, grabbing Taissa's arm. "Okay, come on, get up."

Taissa's more than a little drunk. They both are, having wandered away from Homecoming to loiter on the field with a filched bottle of Jack between them. It's the flavor equivalent of getting karate-chopped in the throat, but so long as Van keeps nipping from the bottle, Taissa has no choice but to keep up.

No choice, too, but to totter to her feet and let Van haul her into goal.

"Not exactly dressed for it, am I?" Taissa twirls in place, letting her dress fan out around her legs. Van looks at her for a long time--eyes rooted to the sleek muscle of her thighs, Tai notices--before blinking rapidly. In trousers and a now much-wrinkled button down, Van at least can pretend she prepared for this turn of events.

And Tai can pretend she isn't appreciative of how well Van cleans up, how appealing she is with her collar open and her sleeves rolled above the elbows.

"Right," Van says. "Don't move from your little box."

She darts off into the dark. She's gone just long enough for Taissa to weigh the possibility that she has been abandoned, and then she's back, preceded by a clean soccer ball.

"Heads up!" is all the warning Tai gets before Van reels back and punts. The ball sails over Taissa's shoulder, thwapping into the net.

"That proves nothing!" Taissa calls back. She's glad she already kicked off her heels. Glad, too, for the bars of the goal, which she reaches for to ward off a wave of vertigo. Drunk. Yes. Very.

Still capable of grabbing the ball and tossing it over her head, though, watching it bounce a good measure down the field. Van gives chase, granting Taissa a convenient--and less than furtive--look at her ass in very nice pants as she sprints away.

"Okay, hotshot. Go again!" Van calls. Her ball-handling skills aren't quite up to Taissa's personal standards, but she isn't half-bad, either. For a drunk goalie, she's actually pretty--

The ball sails by again. Taissa lets out a sharp breath.

"What are we doing here?"

"Well," says Van cheerfully, "you're failing to protect your little box. And I'm kicking your ass."

Fuck it. "Switch," Taissa commands, and before Van can protest, dribbles the ball expertly out of the net. Van charges in, making as if to steal possession, and Taissa twists around her.

Van backpedals into goal. "Give it to me, Turner."

"In your dreams, Palmer." In her dreams, too, but Van doesn't ever need to know that. Doesn't need to know how much time Taissa's dedicated to watching her tend goal.

Doesn't need to know how the fluid grace with which she moves sits with Tai long after the game is over, her mind replaying the dexterity of Van's hands on an endless loop.

Van makes a come-on gesture with one of those hands now, grinning ear to ear. Taissa hitches her dress in one hand, freeing up her legs, and tears forward. She holds nothing back, caring little for the slide of her bare feet on the grass, and when she aims, it's for the high-left corner.

Van dives. Taissa's still moving, unable to stop her own drunken momentum. She crashes into the net, laughing hysterically, bowling Van into the grass.

"Cheating!" Van proclaims around giddy peals of her own amusement. "Fucking red card, ref! She's attacked the goalie!"

"The goalie deserved it!" Taissa cackles. The ball is nowhere to be found; she truly has no idea if she just scored on Van or not. All she knows is the dew-damp grass under her shins, and Van's body underneath her own. Van's braided hair over one shoulder, and Van's hand lighting on Taissa's hip.

"You're in my little box," Van says--not quite as sardonically as Taissa expects. Her eyes are flitting from Tai's eyes to her mouth, her smile achingly charming.

"You put me here," Taissa informs her. Van purses her lips thoughtfully.

"A prime-time goalie, you are not, lady."

Taissa can't argue that point. Nor can she bring herself to stand up. The world is still spinning around her, the only points of stability Van's sprawled legs and the heat of that one firm hand.

"I don't usually play drunk," Taissa tells her.

"Soccer?" Van asks. "Or...?"

She's leaning up, off her elbows. Taissa's breath catches, her body sinking down against her better judgment. Van's lips graze hers, and she finds herself bracing both hands against a soft jawline just to stay upright.

"Okay." Her lips move gently against Van's with every word. Her thumbs trace Van's cheekbones. The world is spinning, and Van's eyes gleam under the brilliant field lights. "Show me how a real goalie does it."

"It's not," Van says, grinning, hands bracketing Taissa's waist, "fucking sedentary."

“Two Timing LaRusso- But Literally Two” (1/2)

Ever since they got to California the LaRusso twins hated it. Between the heat and sun, the new school, trying to make friends. It was a mess. But what really did it in was all of the karate stuff that ended up happening with the oldest twin.

Daniel decided to get involved with the girl on the beach, her name was Ali.

It all started with that stupid night on the beach. When the Franky kid from the apartment complex told the two of them about the party on the beach. Reader didn't really want to go but Daniel did, so she went along for the ride.

She didn't actually want to go but she didn't want to leave Daniel on his own for the night in a brand-new place. Plus she had to admit she was a bit lonely and didn't want to stay in the new apartment all by herself. When they showed up on the crowded beach it was nice. There where dozens of kids around their age just having fun and dancing, chatting and playing games.

While she hung back on the sidelines and just enjoyed the people-watching, Daniel managed to wheeze his way with the blond-haired girl. They were both laughing and talking while messing with a soccer ball. She just rolled her eyes at the two and kept watching.

When the motorcycles pulled up on the hill her stomach stomach started to flip in a bad way.

Then the fight between a blond boy named “Johnny” started. It was stupid, over the Ail girl. Turns out she was Johnny’s new ex and he didn't like the fact that Daniel was making a move on her.

“Daniel please let's just go!” Reader tried to pull her twin away from the scene. After watching her brother get his ass kicked she just wanted to leave and go home. Daniel had to put up a fight with her. Making a big argument out of the whole thing.

She didn't take notice of how some of the boys in Johnny’s little gang looked at her. Eyeing her up as she tried to pull Daniel away. They gazed at her from the sidelines.

The two twins went home with no clue.

The first few weeks of school were weird to say the least for the two twins. Things escalated between Daniel and the other boys. He could try and hide it from their mom but he couldn’t hide it from his twin. She grew more and more worried by the day. Watching her brother get messed with, when he came home covered in bruises and cuts, bleeding all over their sheared room. She cried and he just told her not to worry.

Time went on and Daniel grew stronger, trained with Mr Myagi and learned karate.

It wasn’t until after the all-valley tournament that things really changed and things got better. Well to a point that is.

“I can’t believe he’s going after Ali when he has THAT all over him all the time.”

“You know I never liked Daniel in the first place but I didn’t see him as the kind of guy to cheat.”

“He does it right in public too. Gross.”

“LaRusso is just a two timing little bastred.”

All five boys glared in the direction of Daniel’s lunch table. It wasn’t even about the stupid tournament anymore. It was the fact that he was a prick who was trying to mess around with two girls at ones, one of them being on their radar for months now.

She was cute, chubby and thick, unlike almost any of the girls at west-valley. She had curves that filled her out in the perfect ways. Pretty eyes and the biggest smile they had ever scene. She even had the most prettiest hands they had ever seen, something Jimmy had pointed out at some point. They looked soft from a distance.

Yes a distance because they had yet to even try and make a move on her because of how close she was to Daniel.

Because with the way they acted, they where definitely in some kind of relationship. It pissed all of them off every time they saw the two together. Both in and out of school. The way she hugged him, laughed at his corny ass jokes, followed him everywhere. She was like a puppy.

Following around a big fat cheater. He openly cheated on the girl with Ali and was getting away with it. She acted like she had no idea from the looks of it.

“She’s cute, it's not fair that Daniel gets to be with a girl like that and get to two time her.” Bobby said as he poked at his food with a fork. Bobby was the first one to admit he was catching feeling for the girl a few months back. Dutch gritted his teeth as he watched Daniel. He tenses up next to Johnny saying “Fucking dick, leave it to a guy like LaRusso to get a hot chick and then treat her like trash.” Johnny rolled his eyes.

Johnny tried to keep it to himself these days about his feeling on LaRusso. He didn’t hold much grudge against him after the tournament, he won, that’s it.

“I think we should say something, to her at least. It’s not right that he’s doing this and for this long at that. It doesn’t even matter that we like her, she should know before he causes her more damage when she finds out.” Jimmy said with confidence. He was trying to think rationally. Tommy laughed as he patted the boy's back.

“After school today, we finally go in for the kill. We tell her what LaRusso has been doing, that he's been playing her for weeks now, and then we ask her out. Perfect timing.” Johnny smirked. He's eyes glazed over as he watches the girl.

The rest of the day went by quickly. All five boys grew more and more anxious though out the rest of the day.

They all meet up outside of the school after the bell rang. All of the stud around their bikes waiting for the girl to come out. They knew she usually we out though the front doors of the school and walked over the Daniel’s stupid yellow car.

The boys talked for a while, they watched as Daniel came jogging out of the front doors to his car, where he met Ali. They huddled close together talking and flirting for a while. Dutch clenched his jaw as he watched, Johnny’s fist’s itched to punch the punk in the face. Suddenly Ali and him parted and went their separate ways, Daniel went and sat in the front seat of his car.

Suddenly the doors of the school opened once again and the girl walked out. Backpack on her back with books in her arms.

Johnny made the first move as he caught her arm with his hand. She gasped and whipped around to face him, her eyes big.

His cheeks felt warm as he finally got a good look at her. She was just as pretty close up.

“Hey, we just want to let you know that Daniel LaRusso, that asshole, is cheating on you.”

Bobby said “Yeah we caught him multiple times getting all close and friendly with Ali.”

“He's been doing it for months now! It's tucked up that he's leading you on like that.”

“Yeah that's messed up man.”

“He doesn't deserve to two-time a pretty girl like you!” Tommy spoke up, his usual grin gone.

Her face was flushed as she pulled her wrist from Johnny’s grip. She huffed, her brows knit together as she looked at them. They couldn't tell if it was from embarrassment or annoyance.

“Your kidding me right!”

“Hey we just wanted to let you know before-“

“He’s my twin brother not my boyfriend! You guys are sick, real sick. Fuck off!”

She stomped away and ran off towards her brothers car. She threw her stuff into the back seat before hoping into the front seat.

All five of the boys paled at the realization.

“She has to be joking with us-“

“Maybe it makes since, kinda-“

“Man there is no way she is actually his twin-“

“My head hurt’s-“

“WE ALL LIKE A LARUSSO?!? AND SHE’S HIS TWIN AT THAT!?!?”

I now present: Dave!! It's been soso long since I've updated him as well so this was super nice to draw too!

Wispy's room mate, co worker, and (sorta reluctant) friend, Dave Fitzgerald is a deadpan, stony, stoic, and overall quiet "Eeyore" personality type that had decided to be room mates with Wispy due to convenience since they both already knew each other prior to living together

His mother is a rabbit while his father is a goat, making him a hybrid with high speeds, agility, climbing, vertical jumps/leaps, and having a very strong kick, but he never seems to use these skills very often due to only needing them for certain situations

He does find Wispy to be obnoxious, annoying, loud, and an overall disruption and obstacle in his life, but due to knowing him so long and having actually been protected and aided by Wispy on more than a few occasions in the past, he chooses to tolerate all of shenanigans he's put through with a blank face

Dave and Wispy also share the exact same shift as each other in the Millenni-Yum, so a lot of the actual work like cleaning, stocking shelves and looking over security cameras lands on him while Wispy either just stays at the counter or out goofing off with Emmett outside. Dave puts up with this to (to an extent) due to not wanting Wispy to be fired (along with himself ofc) since if they work the same job at the same time, that means there's twice more money for them and their needs

He eventually wants to open up his own carnival food truck that would be nomadic depending on where the fairs he's following would take him, serving his specialty fried foods such as the one of his own invention: The Deep Fried Pizza Cone (deep fried cone shaped pizza slices that holds in whatever savory dish you'd like (such as mac n cheese, bits of chicken such as sweet n sour or buffalo, and even alfredo). But due to life circumstances (living with Wispy lol) and being overall a broke 23 year old who gets paid minimum wage

Notes:

Wispy and Dave have been friends since childhood ever since Wispy stood up to a bully for Dave when he was a new student who had moved to Bright Light City that year and also was two grades below Wispy

He's a very skilled cook who has been into it as a passion and hobby ever since his childhood, since he and his mom would spend a lot of their time cooking together as a bonding experience

In high school, he used to be in lots of sports, such as soccer, football, track and many many others, after graduating high school, he grew disinterested in them and never did them much again. The only ones he still does are rock/mountain climbing, hiking, martial arts (especially karate and capoeira), and vertical jumping

He has a side job of creating recipes and cooking up prototypes of said recipes for Lime Ricky's Pizza, he and Lime Ricky (the owner) as a result get along pretty decently. It's just that Lime Ricky is an extremely stinky and greasy (literally and metaphorically) person so it's hard to work in person with him

He has been mistaken several times as being part demon/imp by strangers or people he just met due to the shape of his horns being demon-esqe

I’ve been thinking about this for the past couple of days. A more mature Scooby-Doo series can be done, and it can be done well. I’ve seen a lot of proposals for an adult Scooby-Doo series, so here’s mine.

Fred doesn’t have family. His parents change from series to series. The only consistent thing about Fred’s family is that it is uncertain, so it starts like this: Something strange and unexplained happened to Fred’s parents when he was a child. He was five years old and ever since he’s been filled with only questions. So he grows up with a curiosity that can never be satisfied. He goes to college, and gets a degree in physics. All the moving parts of any kind of machine is have always fascinated him. As a little ten year old he’d stand for hours in Krispy Kreme watching the machine that makes the donuts. So he’s an inventor. His pride and joy is his old van he paid $100 for an fixed up himself.

The Blakes are old money. They haven’t known financial insecurity since the 1610s. So they’ve got houses, and planes, and helicopters, and cars. Old cars. But the head of the family, (picks name out of hat) Robert “Dick” Blake has no idea how to take care of them. He’s a business man. He finds Fred Jones, a genius mechanic, and hires him on the spot.

Now, Dick loves his daughters dearly. All six of them. He’s been grooming his oldest to take over the company when he retires. Unfortunately that means he gets to spend less and less time with his other daughters to the point where his youngest daughter, Daphne, only gets to see him on holidays and her birthday (he’s trying, he really is). But Daphne is fine with that. After being raised in the lap of luxury, silver spoon in her mouth, she has had access to almost every hobby imaginable. She got excellent grades at her fancy private schools, and in her free time she did Karate, Boxing, Kick boxing, Mixed Martial arts, gymnastics, Ballet, tap dancing, tennis, basketball, soccer, volley ball, skiing, knitting, crochet, baking, embroidery, sewing, synchronized swimming, you name it, she’s done it. She graduated college with a degree in marketing she didn’t really want, wondering what she was going to do with her life. So, she wonders into the garage one day and discovers Fred working on a car. So she asks him about it. She listens and she learns. Eventually, they stop talking about cars. Daphne asks about Fred’s inventions and Fred asks about Daphne’s hobbies. They are fast friends and once they get close enough, Fred tells Daphne about his parents. Daphne immediately pledges to help her friend (and now secret crush) figure out what happened to his parents.

Velma is Daphne’s genius best friend. They were roommates in college. The building Velma had all her lab classes in had Daphne’s last name on it. Velma worked hard to get her scholarship for her forensic chemistry degree, and she was not going to let some spoiled, rich, daddy’s girl, ruin it for her. But one night Velma was walking back to her dorm after dark. Everyone knows to be wary on a college campus after dark, but Velma had just studied her brain into mush. She got cornered by some drunk asshole. Velma in her fear and panic, froze. Her voice wouldn’t work, and she feared for her life, when suddenly, the guy gets punched in the face. By Daphne. The guy crumples to the ground, Daphne grabs Velma by the wrist, and they don’t stop running until they are safely back in their dorm. Velma never doubts her again.

Now, for all their skills and knowledge, none of the three of them, know how to cook. Which is where Shaggy and Scooby come in. I saw someone (on Twitter, I think) say that Shaggy could have diabetes (I don’t know anything about diabetes so I am really sorry about any inaccuracies) and Scooby is Shaggy’s low blood sugar alert dog. I really like the idea that Shaggy is a licensed dietitian, and the only one who knows how to cook. After every case, shaggy herds them all back home and makes a nice, home cooked meal for everyone. Lasagna, stir fry, curry, soup, idk food.

Shaggy is Fred’s roommate, after college. They have a deal, Shaggy cooks, Fred cleans.

In my mind, Scooby starts off as a normal dog. On the gang’s very first case together, they encounter the series’ over all villain, or maybe the first villain they face is an actual witch or something I don’t know, but this witch is caught and tries to put a curse on the gang, but it hits Scooby instead, and now he’s a talking dog. He’s still very much Shaggy’s alert dog, but I like to think he becomes concerned with everyone’s health at least a little bit. They do all that running around, and all these mysteries they solve are very high stress, so he likes to make sure they get plenty of rest.

I’m not really sure about their first case, but I think every episode would start with a grizzly murder. We are using the R rating for blood and guts and bones and death. Not sex or nudity. And Fred is the only one who gets to swear.

Now, Daphne is the one that talks to clients. If they’re particularly shaken up, Shaggy will make them a hot drink and maybe give them a blanket.

Being pregnant was proving to be one of the hardest things in your life. You’d had enough dizziness and nausea in your first trimester to last you a lifetime, enough achiness and swollen feet in your second than anyone should ever have, and now in your third, you’d discovered something brand new to put on your list of pregnancy woes.

False labor pains, otherwise known as Braxton-Hicks contractions (as Steve had very quickly informed you after a trip to the library that resulted in a pile of what to expect when you’re expecting-esque books residing next to his side of the bed). Paired with an extremely active baby girl with a horse strength kick who loved to make it known 24/7, this home stretch was your toughest one yet.

The telltale open and shut of the front door signaled Steve’s arrival, even before his voice. “Honey, I’m home!!!” He sang.

You made a vague noise of acknowledgement from your sprawled out position on the couch, waving your hand over your head haphazardly. You’d been stuck in the same spot for almost the whole day, seeing as every time you tried to get up, either another well placed kick or a false contraction dragged you right back down.

“How’re my girls doing?”

“Your daughter’s doing her daily karate routine against my organs, but other than that we’re great.”

“Oh so she’s gonna do karate now? I thought she was gonna be a tap dancer? Or a soccer player?” Steve teased gently, tossing his keys into the bowl on the table near the front door. He kicked his shoes off too, hanging his jacket on the hook next to yours before crossing the room to rub your shoulders with a kiss pressed to the top of your head.

“She can be all of them when she grows up, but I wish she’d stop it right now.”

He let out a snort of laughter, rounding the couch and kneeling in front of you. One hand came to rub your belly gently, the other coming to land on your knee. “Anything I can do for you?”

“Tell her to cut it out.” Another laugh from him. “How was work?”

“Pretty uneventful. Robin says hi though, wanted me to ask if you two were still on for lunch on Tuesday?”

“Oh my god, I totally forgot to call her back!” You gasped, hands scrabbling for purchase on the couch cushions as if you wanted to push yourself up.

“Hey, hey, slow your roll, sweetheart. Take it easy, I’ll give her a call later.” Steve eased you back down, shooting you a pointed look when you pouted up at him. “I promise, ‘mkay?”

“‘Mkay.” You sighed, slumping back into your previous position. Then, barely even taking a beat, you shot up straight again, this time moving to grab Steve’s shoulders as leverage.

His brows furrowed in instant concern. “What? What’s happening now? Are you okay?”

“Gotta pee.”

“Jesus, you really scared me for a second there,” He breathed, pressing a hand against his chest but going to help you up anyways.

The second you made it to your feet, you were hit with another Braxton-Hicks, this one so big that you would’ve keeled over at the strength of it if not for Steve still holding on to you. You squeezed your eyes shut, sinking back down on the couch yet again with a choked whimper. For something called false labor, the pain sure was really goddamn real. “Whoa, okay. Relax, I’ve got you. You’re alright, sweetheart, you’re doing great. Just relax.”

“Tell me to relax one more time and I’m gonna wring your neck, Harrington.” You said through gritted teeth, fisting his shirt in your hand as if it would help you ride out the pain.

Steve ignored your threat, because he knew you didn’t actually mean it. You’d been growing a whole tiny human inside you for the past eight months, the least he could do was stomach a few gripes here and there. “Squeeze my hands. Just squeeze my hands, it’ll help.”

You gladly took him up on the offer, borderline crushing his hands with a strength neither you nor him knew you had, but he’d never complain about it. A popped knuckle and temporary loss of blood flow was nothing compared to what you’d been having to endure nonstop.

Tears welled up in your eyes at the worsening spasm in your back and abdomen, like someone had taken your insides and was twisting them around in their grip.

“Just breathe. In through the nose, out through the mouth.” Steve soothed, mimicking the deep breaths he wanted you to take. “Like that, that’s it. There you go. Just like that, baby.”

“This is the cramp from hell, Steve, deep breathing isn’t helping anything.”

“Okay, alright, let’s try something else then. Didn’t the doctor say moving around would help lessen the pain?” He suggested, trying his best to rack his brain despite the numbness creeping through his hands. “Or maybe drink some water? I can get you a glass of—”

“Can you just shut up for a minute?” The sharpness in your words shocked you, and should’ve shocked Steve too, but he didn’t seem phased at all, instead just nodding, gazing up at you with wide honey eyes currently filled with concern.

Guilt pooled in you as soon as the contraction finally subsided, and somehow, the guilt felt worse. Steve had been nothing less than the perfect partner this entire pregnancy, and here you were snapping at him for being supportive. Again.

You inhaled a shaky breath, bringing his hands up and pressing a kiss to each of his palms. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Stevie, I don’t mean to be mean to you, I just—”

“I’m gonna stop you right there, okay? You can do and say anything you want to me, sweetheart, and you never have to apologize. You’re carrying our kid, you’ve got every right to be as mean as you want.” He assured you, cupping your face. His thumbs stroked across your cheeks featherlight despite the firmness in his grip. “I’m a big boy, I can take it. Never be sorry. You don’t have to be.”

“I love you,” You sighed miserably, melting against him like a popsicle on a hot summer day.

“I love you most, sweetheart.” He replied softly, leaning down to press his lips against your belly before adding something. “And I love you most too, baby girl, even though you’re giving your mom a tough time right now.”

“I swear, she’s bullying me more and more everyday.”

He chuckled softly, smoothing a hand down your back in light circles. “I’m sure that’s just her way of saying she’s excited to meet us.”

“I know. I’m so excited to meet her and I know she’s already everything we’ve ever dreamed of, but I’d kill to be able to sleep on my stomach again.”

“One more month, baby. Just one more month and then you can sleep on your stomach all you want.” He murmured, breath ghosting across your skin with each word.

“One more month.” You echoed, curling your hand around the back of his neck. One more month of discomfort for a lifetime of anything and everything with your baby girl. That, you were excited for. Slightly terrified, but definitely more excited. “I’m nervous. Are you?”

“Oh yeah. Nearly-shitting-my-pants nervous. All the time. I don’t think that feeling is ever gonna go away, honestly.” He snorted, nodding sharply. He pressed one more kiss to your belly. “But it’s worth it. As long as I have my two girls, anything is worth it.”

“I hate how perfect you’re being right now.”

“Just right now? I think you mean always.”

You pressed your lips together suddenly, scrunching your nose at him. “Stevie, you’re about to hate me.”

“I could never, but good try.”

“I still need to pee.”

Steve barked out a laugh, heaving himself to his feet and gearing up to help you in your endless attempts at standing up. “C’mon, preggers, let’s get you to the bathroom before karate kid in there decides to try out for a new belt.”

PLEASE NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR ASKING TOO MANY QUESTIONS you have no clue how long ive wanted someone to ask me about this au In this AU, Johnny joined Cobra Kai at the same age he did in the series, and Daniel also learned karate from Mr Miyagi in his senior year. He ended up joining the soccer team at West Valley though, instead of getting kicked out like in the movie. Johnny and Daniel had a stupid, petty rivalry that never got as serious as it did in TKK. Even though Daniel still loves karate, he ended up pursuing soccer as a career after highschool. Since Johnny never fought Daniel in the All Valley, he won first place for the third year in a row and eventually started fighting internationally. The whole story starts because during an interview, Daniel gets asked about how he got into soccer specifically, yaknow, why not any other sport? And Daniel talks about how he used to play with his cousins all the time back in Jersey, and it reminds him of his dad because he taught him how to play when he was little. Then he starts talking about how he does karate too, ever since he was in highschool. The interviewer jokes a little, asks him if he's a fan of any specific people, and Daniel, little shit that he is, responds with "Oh yeah, sure I am. Ever heard of Johnny Lawrence? Big fan of his! I never miss a single match. Can't get enough of the guy :)" The somewhat niche soccer rpf fandom loses it over this. CONSTANT posts joking about Daniel's celebrity crush and how he was basically twirling his hair giggling kicking his feet over johnny in the interview. Johnny was already losing his mind when people started making jokes about shipping them but things are only made worse by the fact that during an interview before a pretty big match, they just won't stop asking him what he thinks of the memes about him and Daniel Larusso. He's so fed up he eventually just says that he and Daniel go "way back" and that they had a classic highschool rivalry, Larusso was just messing around in the interview! Somehow this only makes people more serious about shipping them?? People start talking about how they just give off the biggest bitter ex energy Daniel finds this all hilarious, even more so because he knows Johnny absolutely does not. He starts making jokes about it on his official twitter account, which obviously pisses Johnny off MORE. Meanwhile, Johnny's PR team (mainly Shannon and Bobby, obviously. don't ask me how.) start begging Johnny to let them start teasingly responding to speculation on social media for "publicity". As for whether they show up to eachother's games...ohohoho. I already had them hatewatching all of eachother's matches in mind but with the shipping only getting more popular, Johnny decides to actually buy tickets and go to one of Daniel's games. To tell him to quit making people think they liked eachother, obviously. Only, he gets...really really into watching Daniel play? There's something about seeing him move, so focused as he evades his opponents without any problem. Johnny gets so into it that he kind of forgets why he even came. the second Daniel spots him in the stands though? he stumbles, distracted, and trips over his own feet. he feels red in the face for the rest of the game. once almost everyone has left the stadium, and Daniel's on his way out, johnny stops him. they get into an argument in a secluded area, somewhere behind the seats, and that should be that right? except for the fact that the minute they both get home they see the most mortifying fancams of "johnny's face watching his bf play SCREAMS in love" and blurry pictures of them having an "intimate" conversation after the match.

Pokemon Vocabulary in Spanish

Because I’ve been playing Pokemon a lot lately I decided to throw together a vocab list. Keep in mind that a lot of the words are usually direct translations that work really well in English or they’re closer to the original Japanese. I’ll make notes where needed.

Some of these are a little different between the European Spanish version and the Latin American Spanish version. For example, “brick break” in Spain is demolición which is “demolition”, and in Latin America it’s karatazo meaning “karate chop”. Most of these are the same, but some are regionally distinct. I’m going based off of Spain because I’m consulting my game which is European Spanish.

Note: Any official names or names of moves will be Uppercase. Me explaining what they more literally mean will be lowercase so there’s no confusion

Some Pokemon moves have pretty clear patterns. You might see ígneo/a “fiery/igneous” for fire-related things or just fuego, you normally see umbrío/a “shady, gloomy, dark” for dark or shadow things, férreo/a or de hierro for “iron” for metal and steel moves, or you might see helado/a “icy” for others. Sometimes you see voltio “volt” or voltaico “electric”... things like that.

You can typically spot the patterns and figure out what type they’re talking about if you recognize any cognates in English. So if you know aéreo means “air”, then you can sort of piece together that Golpe Aéreo “Aerial Ace” will be a flying move, since it literally means “air strike”.

Alright so I know Literally Nobody asked for this but the idea of leaguers having differnt armor types, speeds, and strengths is so fascinating to me so here’s an entire post about my headcanons about it, staring the Main 7 since they’re the ones we see most and have the most evidence for. 

Also, please keep in mind that this is completely made based on memory alone and it’s been a bit since I last saw the show. If I missed something or remembered something wrong feel free to correct me or add your own thoughts.

Also also, I made a chart (the chart is based on the strongest for the leaguer, not out of all of them, ex: Top Joy’s strongest is different from GZ’s strongest)

First off, the leader of Silver Castle himself, Magnum Ace, a Baseball Leaguer. Right off the bat(hah puns) I immediately knew his arms would be the strongest points. He seems to have been created with him being a pitcher in mind and his 44 Sonic has clearly been shown to posses a lot of power which he would need the strength to handle. There’s also how he was shown to be a decent hitter in Gold Arm’s flashback, sending every ball into the outfield. As for his weakest points, they were also pretty easy. The joints are a bit of a constant with all of the leaguers I showed, but the fins are because they seem to be rather thin and probably can’t hold up very well under pressure. There’s also the shoulder joints, which I wasn’t able to put on the diagram, since as shown during the end of the series, if Magnum repeatedly pitches his 44 Sonic without rest the stress on his shoulders start to cause them to break down, to the point where he was forced to sit out for the next few days for repairs. Speed wise Magnum is nothing special and in my eyes pretty average amongst the team.

Next up, we have Mach Windy, a Soccer Leaguer. Similar to Magnum, I knew almost immediately his strongest point would be his legs since, y’know, soccer. Everything(physical) we see coming from Windy is almost always centered around his leg strength and speed. This is outright said when Silver Castle is resting after some baseball training and Magnum tells Windy(I shit you not) “We believe in your leg.” There’s also his Mach Spin which depends entirely on his ability to kick to ball at an extremely high speed. There’s also a scene when trying to help Gold Foot during the Forced Retirement Arc where his kicks a ball of solid rock without any issues. The scene also brings me to why his head is a strong point. Heading is also something Windy has been shown to be able to do, and referencing the Forced Retirement Arc again where he head butts the aforementioned ball of rock. For speed, as mentioned before, when it comes to running Windy seems to be the fastest amongst Silver Castle. The weakness I feel is pretty self explanatory since soccer doesn’t really require use of your arms unless you’re a goalie. There’s also how in the Jet Setter episode Bull sees Windy loose an arm wrestle almost immediatly with Ryuuken, but that might just be since Ryuuken is ridiculously powerful. As for durability, he seems to be not very strong, instead having lighter armor for more speed.

Speaking of Ryuuken, let’s talk about the Karate Leaguer. As you can see, his strongest part is his armor, aka almost all of him. As a karate leaguer, Ryuuken was probably created with the intent of being able to take a lot of hits. There’s also the running joke of a member of another team attacking him with all their power and him not budging and saying something along the lines of “I feel nothing.” Strength wise, we get a taste of his crazy power is during his first spotlight episode where he was practicing kicking with Windy, to which he accidentally broke the stone wall surrounding the field. He then unlocks more of his power when rescuing Ruri from the factory, but we don’t see his real power until the Forced Retirment arc. There we got to see when going to rescue Magnum, Windy, and the Gold Bros how he opened a literal chasm into the ground with a single punch, though I can’t remember if it was rock, metal, or both, but that’s still pretty impressive, and that was before he unlocked his Heart Kit in the Death Football Arc which only increased his power. And then during the OVA when the Fighter Brothers try to fight Windy’s new team and they use their pitch, a pitch that nobody had been able to hit before, Ryuuken straight up punches it with seemingly no backlash and getting a home run all because they made him mad.….maybe it’s a good thing Ryuuken is so innocent and calm. Speed wise, Ryuuken seems to be on the slower side of the team, however I do think Ryuuken(alongside Juurouta) would have the best reflexes. This one is completely headcanon and I don’t have much proof, it just makes sense to me.

Next up, we have Bull Armor, a Football Leaguer. His armor and helmet are easily his strongest parts, for mostly obvious reasons. Multiple times throughout the series he is seen tanking blows that would normally knock another leaguer to the ground, most notably when he’s Silver Castle’s goalkeeper in soccer and catcher in baseball. However, his durability seems to be different from Ryuuken’s since he is still moved by the attacks but can bounce back from more. His durability seems to be pretty tied to his strength too since he is one of the only leaguers who has been shown to catch Magnum’s 44 Sonic. There’s also how when he was first introduced he stopped and lifted a truck much larger than himself with relative ease in order to stop it from hitting a young boy. His speed however is admittedly a bit harder to figure out. He seems to be much larger and heavier, however as shown when he lost control in his past he still has the ability to charge down opponents at a speed in which they can’t properly evade, though it’s up for debate whether they were trying to properly evade or trying to reason with him.

Juurouta, a Kendo Leaguer, is next. His durability is more basic compared to the others, mostly focusing around his Armor Armor(no that was not a typo). Said Armor Armor also seems to be protecting the joints which may or may not be intentional, but I’m going with it. His fins share the same logic with Magnum, as do his joints with everyone else. His strength mostly seems to be localized in his arms, which makes sense since he is a kendo leaguer. His strength was first shown in comparison to the others when he was the first person to hit Gold Arm’s Genocide Screw with a hit(discounting Bull since he technically kicked it). There’s also how in the Arctic he was able to cut down the  blizzard machine, however that spent all his energy. Speed wise I think he’s in a similar i boat to Ryuuken: slow overall, but incredible reflexes.

Now, Top Joy, a Basketball Leaguer, was a fun one to do for no reason more than I like the character. Strength wise, nothing very impressive, he show much. Durability though….it’s not the best. The only points that seemed to be able to hold up were his arms(sort of) and feet, and they’re less based on actual proof and more on logical thinking but I digress. Hand and arms because he’ll need to be able to catch balls thrown his way, but they’re still relatively weak compared to other members of Silver Castle. I highlighted his feet because they would probably be needed to make they don’t break once Top Joy lands after jumping high. If they were weak the repeated slamming into the ground would cause them to break and then Top Joy(and any other basketball leaguer) would be relatively stuck. But where I think Top Joy shines is his speed and maneuverability. As he has demonstrated many times throughout baseball and soccer games alike, his spring legs can be used in a variety of situations, from avoiding attacking players to catching balls that would normally be too far out of reach. And there’s also the possibility of using the force from the spring to propel himself faster when running, thought it’s unclear if he does this already. However, they are not without weakness. As shown in the episode with Gebara, they are easily damaged when seemingly a single coil is damaged and prevents him from walking without assistance from his teammates. There’s also his recording equipment and speakers which, while functional, seem like they would also be damaged rather easily since as someone who has worked with recording/video equipment, I am all too aware of how fragile it can be. Also another note, Top Joy also seems to have an incredibly high pain tolerance. When the members of Section X give him a warning shock with the shock circuit, he pleads with them and says how he “doesn’t like punishment,” implying this has happened before. There’s also his questionable relationship with his past team and much later in the Death Football Arc when he flat out says “I’m used to pain,” which in concerning to say the least.

And finally, last but most certainly not least, we have GZ, a Hockey Leaguer. Similar to Ryuuken, GZ has been shown to be incredibly powerful and being able to take a lot. There are three times where his power is shown. First is barely a day after he joins their team when he defends his teammates from attacks that would normally knock them off their feet(sans Ryuuken). The second time is when he’s babysitting the kids and survives an avalanche that took out another group of hockey(?) leaguers with barely a scratch. And then in the OVA where he’s able to deflect almost all of Garret’s dive bomb attacks without took much trouble. This is undoubtedly a combination of some hockey leaguers being incredibly defensive(like Thunderbolt) and his reformatting which led him to be a mercenary. We don’t seem too much from GZ in terms of strength, so I’m going to say he’s just a little weaker than Magnum. Speed though, that one was a bit hard to figure out. Main because of his boosters. His boosters give him an enormous speed boost, fast enough to get ahead of Garret who was literally flying and dive bombing, and on the ice without as much friction it only increases his speed. However, the few times we see him running, he seems to be slower than the other Silver Castle members, likely because of his weight and how he was meant for ice, not land. 

TL:DR, From most to least

Durability: GZ, Ryuuken, Bull Armor, Juurouta, Magnum, Windy, Top Joy

Strength: Ryuuken, Bull Armor, Juurouta, Magnum, GZ, Top Joy, Windy

He eventually realized how badass you were and now, he had to make a move on you. 

At first, you were like ‘ no you can’t date him since he’s a cocky bitch’, but you didn’t listen to yourself. 

Which was probably one of the best decisions you’ve ever made. 

Today, you and Hawk have been dating for almost one year. 

Even though he is tough and rude to others, he has a huge soft spot for you. 

One day, you surprised Hawk at one of his karate practices. 

“Hey Eli,” you said to him with a fierce smirk on your face. 

“Hey babe,” Hawk said to you while grabbing your waist, deepening the kiss between you guys. 

Johnny didn’t want you there at first, but when he found out you were LaRusso’s daughter, he wanted you to show what you got. 

You had to spar with one of the flinchers

𝙾𝙱𝚂𝙲𝚄𝚁𝙴 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝙳𝙲𝙰𝙽𝙾𝙽𝚂.

WHAT THEY SMELL LIKE. This varies wildly depending on the moment one met Akiyama - during most of his childhood and teenage/young adult years, he was always impeccable with a crisp, clean smell (usually from his after-shave and cologne) - during his time at the Touto Bank, however, he picked up smoking and this would be the one thing that would end up accompany him for the rest of his life. Later, post the incorporation of Sky Finance, Akiyama smells mostly of cigarette smoke, a mix of spices and seasoning used by street food carts that are absorbed by his clothes, sweat and some citrus-flavored candy (he enjoys these but they definitely cannot hide the fact he loves smoking).

HOW THEY SLEEP. SLEEPING POSITION. SCHEDULE. ETC. This is also very different depending on the particular period of Akiyama’s life - as a child until the moment he was kicked out of the Akiyama family home, his schedule was fairly normal (from 11pm until 6am), and he favored large western beds with medium to soft mattresses and very peculiar types of pillows - he used to move a lot, occupying most of the room on his bed even when sleeping alone. Post his homeless era, however, Akiyama’s sleep schedule is fucked up at best - he lacks a routine and he often naps when possible at very weird hours during the day (a habit that he adopted following the hardships in the street and the fact he had to adjust to sleeping when he could rather than when he wished to). Currently, Akiyama also requires no specific material comforts and will, in fact, be able to doze off mostly anywhere (park benches, office chairs etc) - frankly, sleeping alone on a luxurious bed is something he can’t do anymore. Please see this post on how Akiyama’s homelessness period affected some of his daily activities.

WHAT MUSIC THEY ENJOY. Akiyama is not picky! He will listen to mostly anything - he has some classical pieces under his favorites (particularly romantic composers) from his musical training as a kid, but also likes classical western rock, disco, jazz and modern pop. Later, and in no small measure thanks to Haruka, he acquired a fierce interest in the idol/pop scene.

HOW MUCH TIME THEY SPEND GETTING READY EACH MORNING. Very little - as a result of his chaotic routine, he will merely shower/change clothes and grab something to eat on his way (if that much - he tends to forget to eat sometimes, and Hana has every reason to worry about his diet). There are almost no rituals involved for him - he aims to look (or at least smell) clean, but that’s it.

FAVOURITE THING TO COLLECT. Watches - one of the very few habits he has that matches the fortune he possesses, too. He likes collecting watches and he is rather fascinated by clocks and pocket watches, although he doesn’t actively collect those. Akiyama also has a rather nice wallet collection - those accessories (as well as belts) as probably the only real material things he has in abundance and that transcend his daily necessities.

LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED. Right-handed.

FAVOURITE SPORT(S). As a child, Akiyama was subject to a heavy training routine and he was an ice skater until his mid-teens, as well as a karate and taekwondo practitioner. Later, after becoming an investment banker, he golfed with co-workers and prospective clients, too - but none of these are really his favorite sport. If he could pick something for himself, he would choose swimming (he likes being in the water) and perhaps taekwondo second. In terms of following any sports as a fan, Akiyama is an average Japanese guy who enjoys soccer but he’s a casual watcher and doesn’t really support any specific teams.

FAVOURITE TOURISTY THING TO DO WHEN TRAVELLING. Talking to locals - Akiyama has a decent grasp of a fairly good number of languages and has no shame in attempting verbal communication, even if he has to talk with his hands. He really likes engaging into conversation with people whenever he goes.

FAVOURITE KIND OF WEATHER. Late spring and mostly early autumn, when it’s not too hot (or cold), without frequent showers and good hours of sunlight. He is aware of the pun involved in a person named ‘Akiyama’ enjoying autumn (he enjoys this, in fact).

WEIRD / OBSCURE FEAR THEY HAVE. It’s a silly one but Akiyama dreads the idea of one day starting to hiccup and then never stopping again. He’s heard about this and as someone who’s very vocal and obviously fond of speaking, he’s genuinely horrified at the idea of just hiccuping constantly.

THE CARNIVAL / ARCADE GAME THEY ALWAYS WIN WITHOUT FAIL. Rhythm games - Akiyama is freakishly good with timing given his long years tutored in both piano and the violin, and he’s also naturally fast and agile - as a result, Akiyama is a menace with these games and doesn’t hold back (Taiko no Tatsujin is a favorite).

He played soccer in elementary school, but probably fell out of love with it in middle school because he felt a little alienated (it still holds a special place in his heart though)

Maybe he tries to get back into it to find an outlet other than karate?

If he’s practicing kicks, punches, and other karate moves at home, he’ll have a certain number of reps for each move, but he always forgets what number he’s on (me too, Eli, me too)

Post script-flip and also after eventually evening out himself, he still kind of uses exercise to cope with things like anger and frustration, but in a more controlled way

In addition to the headcanon that he got super into birds/snakes upon joining Cobra Kai, I think that either after starting karate or after joining Miyagi-Fang, he went down a karate rabbit hole, so he ended up super well versed in the history of it. Maybe he accidentally bonds with Daniel over it like Demetri did with GOT?

Has definitely taken the whole accidentally-adopted-Bert-and-Nate thing a little too seriously. The Miyagi-Fang kids (lightheartedly) tease him for it, but little did they know that they were actually enabling him to commit to the bit. They end up comprising a whole chart of the little ‘family’ they have going on. (Daniel and Johnny are like a divorced couple trying to get along for the sake of their kids, Dem and Eli are obviously Bert & Nate’s dads, Sam and Miguel are the mandated emotional support aunt and uncle, Chris and Mitch are sorta like bickering cousins, and Moon and Piper are the Cool Aunts™️ that drop by once in a while)

The funniest motherfucker in the room. 100% would do stand up comedy despite not being the occupation he’s aiming for. (The Richie Tozier and Joey Rooney comparisons are scarily accurate. It’s the Vibes™️, man)
