"Schatz..." Klavier sighed, exhausted from lying and sitting around. Not to mention Apollo was just a little bit overbearing. Just a little. "I'm fine. You've seen me stand and walk just fine." With that, he tried to get up again.

Apollo felt the other tense, but didn’t think much of it. Although, he wasn’t exactly pleased with him playing the Uno Reverse Card™ on him, but he expected it.  “Ah, well, I’ve always wanted to, I’ve always dreamed about marrying someone as a kid.” Although, usually, it was a pretty girl, and never exactly a rockstar prosecutor, but he’d marry Klavier over any ‘super model’ any day.
“Aw, really?” Klavier cooed. He made himself more comfortable and took one of Apollo's hand to hold. "Tell me about those dreams. What is your dream wedding like? Is like one of a Disney prince?"
[legalbrats] [for Apollo's most recent from Khura'in]
Klavier laid his head on Apollo's lap, looking up at him with a soft, loving expression. He reached for Apollo's face and gently cupped it in his hands.
"I don't believe you have the slightest idea just how much I love you right now."
Apollo couldn't care less about whatever was on TV, because he'd just been watching Klavier the whole time. "Oh, I think I do." He smiled, warmly.

can just complain about 6-2 for a hot minute?
I hate hate HATE that they took a throwaway gag line in 4-4 where Phoenix is like "wait, were there actually MORE APPRENTICES??" and Valant is like "lol no that's dumb" AND THEN DID IT ANYWAY???
excuse me that is just. that makes me mad
also! I don't mind Apollo being afraid of heights, honestly, but like. Phoenix is already afraid of heights and they gave Apollo the new phobia of large bodies of water *why* must we endure Apollo also being *this* terrified of heights??
like the line in AJ has him scared but like. Not THAT scared. He still climbed his ass up there and all!! I do not believe SoJ Apollo would have done that ever. it feels like yet another point where they skimmed more than actually checked AJ's script
and THEN like, why didn't we get Mr. Hat as an evidence??? it would've proven without a shadow of a doubt that there was a goddamn sword up in the balconey!!
for that matter, WHERE'S ALL THE BLOOD?? if that man got stabbed by being zipped up to the roof, then WHERE'S ALL THE BLOOD??? Ema you're our forensics, pLEASE tell me where all this goddamn blood disappeared to!!!
great opportunity of having Trucy in the defendant's seat, totally wasted because all of Apollo's cases have a ridiculous amount of moon logic to them
also I know Reus is an asshole and that's the point, but how the hell did he manage to get everything in the Wright Agency slapped with a "repossessed" label in like less than a day??? I feel like that's the law thing I can't suspend my disbelief about there have to be more checks in place for that sort of thing
I'm also still mad about the whole "see that shadow in the bg that's *obviously* going upwards that we caught on tape?? yeah that's totally Trucy thrusting a sword downwards into the victim as if it could be anything else" like bitch!!!!
I feel so bad for Apollo my bud, my dude, just constantly handed cases that are like "you don't get all the evidence that makes sense, buckle up kiddo" and how much internal screaming he probably does because of it
I feel like it was only this case because, again, Apollo is *always* handed the cases with the most moon logic. dunno why, but it is consistent. he is cursed.
the weirdest thing that happens in later cases (at least, it set me off-balance) was not getting the murder weapons as evidence in your notes, but that's a gameplay thing because, like, not used for any of the puzzles, so why would they give you extraneous pieces of evidence hahaha

hello everyone please enjoy the first post i've made in my writing blog in easily 6 months and it's just to yell about the fucking center venn diagram point for two big fixations
now you might be wondering "angeles when you start moving towards other fandoms will you still be nootboots" and the answer is yes, its my brand, but also ace attorney has a fucking vice grip on my neurodivergent mentally ill ass
as a side note i am too much of an idiot to remember to read the manga but i know Points Of Interest and when I can sit for a good bit and consume it I will, so bear with my anime main knowledge
Anyways consider the concept of family clans in JJK and the Sahdmadhis and their shit in SOJ. Obviously, we see how shit happened with maki her sister and how that works, and clearly the clans are structured differently depending on the family (what the fuck is going on with gojo. love that funky little manic twink but. What.)
And yes, AA and JJK get to hold hands because of Higuruma, which means I now get to think of both of them and daydream about crossovers, and y'know what? In the JJK verse, you can reasonably explain so much shit, especially w/ Khurai'inism and bloodlines, because Khura'in's designated holy figure being a super cool badass hundreds of years ago with an equally badass sister? Sorcerers who kicked ass. Hella sorcerers who kicked ass. would be special grades without a doubt if they were alive today.
and like cursed techniques having genetic tie ins ALSO FUCKING SLAPS because that's a huge factor! you can also explain why the feys and the sahdmadhis have spirit channeling because *it's the same fucking bloodline* and it's not a stretch to say someone was kicked out of the clan, fucked off, and then those traits started popping up again in later generations
that aside, clan hierarchy also gives a nice port over from an actual extra country that capcom decided now exists, because instead of a ruling kingdom family it's a Big Fucking Clan With A Lot Of Weight To It
(And also makes sense then why when the revolution starts up, nobody steps in to do shit. interfering with another clan's family drama? no fucking thank you. not my paygrade.)
also i just think nahyuta would be really fun as a sorcerer and their rosary beads would DEFINITELY be a weapon for cursed spirits and their title as "last rites prosecutor" would doubly fuck
Unrelated to SOJ but still on the AA train, this also means that Simon Blackquill is just. Always busting out cursed techniques. And since nobody can see it they think he just slices shit with his fingers. And that's fucking hilarious to think about, the idea that someone probably got after him for it and he went "Consider this though: who is going to ask questions with the everything else i have going on", because Simon "Definitely Uses The >:3c Emoji When He Is Texting" Blackquill refuses to fucking listen to people.
"You're going to expose sorcerer society to the masses" Wrong. Everyone is going to think he can cut shit with his fingers because he's a scary samurai man who went to prison for murder and clearly this is something that tracks for that persona.

would love to hear your thoughts on these characters:
hobie brown
miles (both aa and spiderverse i adore them both)
phoenix
maya
apollo
klavier
also do you have a list of the fandoms you're into? would love to send more for others we have in common
cracks my knuckles ok let's go.
tbh I don't have big thoughts on AA characters because they're too removed from the real world for me to impose real world context on them like I couldn't tell you if homophobia exists in japanifornia. some sort of Schrodinger's societal expectations exist there. you can be discriminated against for being a lawyer
anyways miles Edgeworth is gay it's the least interesting thing about him. you'd think he'd have a lot of issues about it but I think he's chill and normal. he's got a little pride flag in a cup on his desk
miles morales is like... as bi as any guy living in the world is? like he's got the potential but he's also not there yet. if he spends enough time in the spider verse with hobie and friends he'll definetly figure it out but atm he's like well all guys have seen a guy and thought they were hot right
hobie brown is too cool to have labels but he's got the gender the sexuality the whole acronym
uhh phoenix was told he was gay long before he figured it out because he's an art kid who cries a lot
I have no thoughts on Maya. she's not cishet
Apollo is gay and trans and very comfortable in it he does to gay bars he's very well adjusted
klavier... I don't have thoughts about klavier. he's a rock star
oh also fandoms. off the top of my head I'm into x men right now then there's doctor who the grishaverse all aa games cept investigations and soj persona five persona 2 innocent sin bat family uhhh there's surely other things that are on here if you look thru my most tagged I can't think

and ANOTHER au im gonna draw soon: ace assurance where eveythings the same but theyre all accountants
i think the prosecutors are in finance bc finance and accounting are posited as enemies, meanwhile trucy and all the magicians are marketing peeps bc marketing is directly seen as opposite to accounting
athena: audit, she uses her psychology learning and mood matrix to critically assess the intent behind errors or inconsistencies in forms, but mostly because she doesnt believe that simon would do something as basically unjust (👀) as insider trading
apollo: tax preparation, he tries to be as fair and honest with it as possible and doesnt appreciate people/companies trying to cheat the system (obviously he will advise but not to the extent klavier does). going into SoJ he starts diving into tax law (i think dhurke is probably straight up a tax attorney)
phoenix: starts off with simple bookkeeping roles like payroll, sorta just becomes well versed in most roles
edgeworth: personal finance??? like phoenix also a bit more general but he has a reputation for cutting costs without waiting for excuses for them
man what the fuck am i doing
franziska and manfred: also personal finance but way way WAY harsher, manfred probably included bs stipulations that instantly made him more money/less culpable for fucking things up
klavier: tax advising, like telling people how to get the best tax treatment (avoidance, not evasion, though apollo still dislikes it bc klavier finds more loopholes than hed like)
blackquill: investment. guy. i dont. know what its called rn. he reads companys financial statements and assesses how bs they are. was arrested for serious charges of massive insider trading (took the fall for athena who he suspected had been idly listening in on his and his mentors calls and telling people what she learned)
nahyuta: he is the sec
kristoph also did tax preparation but was found to have been doing illegal money shit with his clients tax returns (meanwhile the main incident irt phoenix losing his cpa was evidently having never sent his clients tax return even tho he DEFINITELY did, and with drew misham he set a long term tax trap knowing that vera was actually filing her fathers tax forms, so the moment he did it itd be flagged and he’d get caught for forging and shit)
everythings actually mostly the same tho there are less deaths but not NO deaths

TSR was explicitly made to be canon and have important character information so I would put more stock into the original version made with that intent rather than the comedy localization written by the same guys that made Amy a horrible person in Free Riders.
I am not well-versed enough about the Japanese version and the differences the localisation made regarding TSR, so I cannot say anything about that, I'm afraid. Other than the "Silver and Sonic have a genuine talk about Silver's worries and Sonic mentions remembering '06" in Japanese versus "trash talk plus more trash talk and Silver is dumb bby in this scene" in English, I do not know what differences there are in the latter version. But since Japanese is quite an inaccessible language for many, I figure that most fans of the series and games are not going to search up fan translations anytime soon. Thus, many people won't even know that there are such differences in localisation to begin with, and the information the Japanese version provides is left entirely untouched upon by the Western side of the fanbase...
I would like for the West to get more faithful translations than what we usually receive, though of course localisation is highly difficult, especially from a language like Japanese. But I definitely do not appreciate how a lot of clarifying things and little details are just removed (I believe Forces had the same issue), and then especially if it's in favour of jokes and momentary character assassination. And as for what they are planning with Silver... we'll see, I guess. I truly would not be surprised if Sonic Channel gives us yet another means of time travel for Silver one day that does not match the one we got from Fast Friends Forever. I don't know how well SoJ and SoA are collaborating, but localisation-wise that does not seem to be going so smoothly on occasion. I find it rather baffling that Sonic Channel is solely Japanese despite featuring so much information about the characters, for example. And since Sonic is a lot larger in the West than in Japan, that might also influence what Sega decides to do for future games and what prior information to further incorporate. Furthermore, there is also an issue that Sega right now is not particularly doing a lot with the extended cast, let alone in a starring main character role where a thorough exploration of Silver's memories of '06 would be more in its place than if he just is a background character in a cast of other background characters. So whether or not they're going to expand on Silver... I have many doubts. I would love it if they did, for I would love it if they do anything even remotely big with him, but we'll really just have to wait and see where this ends up, I suppose. I'm not getting my hopes up just yet!😅

Okay, besides Greg's, who else's ghosts has Manfred seen? Why didn't he get to see his wife's ghost? You can't do Manny like this Tolp 😔🤌
He's definitely seen Mia, because Mia, it's been estabilished, is a ghost who hangs around and photobombs and confirms important handshakes. And Mia's been trying to walk Phoenix through Edgwroth's trial, which von Karma prosecuted, so von Karma definitely saw her.
Thing is, that AA outright tells you, through both Maya and Mia and if I understood the wiki right also through some SoJ cases that spirits generally don't just "hang around". When people die, their spirit passes on and experiences virtually nothing. Supposedly when spirits are channeled, it is for them as if no time had passed, so a lot of them reacts as if they just entered the afterlife, because only now they have the time to process that they died.
But we also have the evidence of Mia just being around as a ghost, Lotta Hart managed to get her in a photo and all. So ghosts definitely have to exists. But if they did, someone alive from the Fey family would definitely mention that, they'd be taught about this. So ghosts must be really, really rare and/or the gift/burden of seeing them must be even rarer.
So I have this headcanon how ghost-spirit distinction works in the AA verse. Spirit is the immaterial of a being, mind and soul combined (Pearl Fey mentions the existence of the soul and that it can shatter, and she mentions it happening with the wrong usage of the magatama, which when you screw up it takes down the health bar, so soul definitely has to to with being alive.) Ghost specifically is a description of a spirit not inhabiting a body which remains in the material world. Which sucks since ghosts are immaterial, and therefore can't actually interact with their surrounding.
The logical question is why would spirit remain in this position. Well, either they are somewhat spiritually trained and aware of being a spirit enough to actively choose to remain (for example spirits mediums such as Mia, but potentially also witches, priests of some religions, and esoteric suburb mothers who read up on something legit and kinda know and mostly don't what they are doing) or they have strong bonds to something or someone still in the material world (such as Gregory).
The latter case is practically a ghost which is haunting a person, an object or a location, because either the spirit couldn't let go or the person still alive refuses to let go.
Manfred had practically an obsession with Gregory Edgeworth. The way he screams his name during his breakdown (and c'mon, we know he means Gregory and not Miles) you could swear the man was in the room with the rest of us. And from Manfred's perspective he was. He dragged Gregory with him everywhere he went, he couldn't let go. Miles hadn't let go of his (perceived) guilt, but he did let his father go eventually.
Likewise, there was nothing weighting Manfred's wife to the material when she passed. He felt her loss, he mourned her, sometimes wished she was still there, but he didn't cling to her tooth and nail. Not seeing her ghost around is a good thing. In general, ghosts shouldn't be in the material world. I don't think Mia would hang around if she felt like she didn't have to, but she had some business to wrap up *cough cough* Diego, Dahlia and Morgan *cough cough*.

(xmfxne)  🏥
Send 🏥 for your muse to visit mine in hospital.
@xmfxne gets to visit not one, but two of them!
Having been sitting on a bench in a hall, Klavier stood up with a wince once he saw who was walking towards him.
"Ach, Sch... Herr Forehead!" Klavier put on a small smile, hoping to soothe the other. "You've made it."
He wasn't in a hospital room as he didn't really need to occupy one. There were few bandages and bandaids on him. There were bandages on his right forearm as well as some bruises reaching his wrist. One bandaid was on his left cheek and another was just under his left shoulder. There were probably some bruises hidden under his clothes, if his dirty jeans and the earlier wince were anything to go by.
All in all, he clearly had been through something, but nothing he couldn't walk off.
"Prosecutor Sahdmadhi has already gone to see your uncle in his room. They've just finished patching him up."

Klavier fell with a yelp and a huff. It was the opposite of what he had been trying to accomplish.
But hearing Apollo laugh... It felt so long since he had heard Apollo laugh. Klavier couldn't possibly be upset. So, instead, he propped his chin on his hand, watching Apollo with a small smile.
"It seems like you don't really want to get up," he commented with a raised brow.
[legalbrats] Klavier for figure skating prompts: [ FALL ]
𝐅𝐈𝐆𝐔𝐑𝐄  𝐒𝐊𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒.  [ FALL ] ― your muse tries to pull my muse up but somehow they both fall on the ice.
Apollo's initial fall had been... graceful, somehow? It was very slow, almost subtle, as he merely got lower and lower to the ground until he finally slipped off his feet and bumped his chin to the ground. It was honestly hilarious to Apollo.
Then, when Apollo tried to get up, Klavier fell too. After the initial surprise had happened, and Apollo processed it, he laughed even harder this time. It was probably the first time since the discovery that he'd been able to soberly laugh about anything, and it was nice.

I was gonna structure this better but I think these rants express my point pretty well. (Spoilers ahead for aai games and DD)
Here's something that's been niggling at me since I realised it --
Possibly one of the biggest flaws in the new series writer's finales are that they have 2 climaxes. I think that's Trials and Tribulations' fault (it's ALWAYS T&T'S FAULT) (although T&T is the closest example I can think of as to why this happens), but it's also just an issue and I hope SOJ helped him learn to stop doing that.
Like, in T&T, the whole finale climax is when you exorcise Dahlia. Calling Godot out after that is technically part of the falling action / resolution, but I can see how it can be mistaken for a second climax since like, people care a lot about Godot
(none of the other Shu Takumi AA games do this as far as I can think of. They all have very clear climax points and then everything else is falling action)
Compare to the aai games, DD, and SoJ, all of which have 2 climaxes in their finales. Aai1 has the whole Calisto Yew capture (works as a climax), then the climax of catching the leader of the smuggling ring (can't be called falling action because it takes another goddamn 5 hours to catch this man). Then aai2 has the Sebastian standing up to his dad as the first climax, then the whole mastermind thing as the second climax (same problem as aai1 as well, can't be called falling action because it takes another like 5 hours to get there) (and these are both treated as climax and very much not the same as the whole Maya testimony to catch Godot. Like that is very much falling action and has a different feel than these other two things.)
Like sure the smuggling ring has a whole throughline for the entire game, meanwhile Calisto Yew was only brought up in case 4 of 5, but she actually gets better buildup than the smuggling ring?? Probably because of the emotional investment ties she has not just to Kay, but to Edgeworth and Franziska and Badd as well! (And Gumshoe haha)
It's insane how much more I am invested in Calisto Yew than like, the smuggling ring. Or the Phantom, who has basically the same thing in DD (and with somehow LESS buildup despite being a part of the game's story from the first case!!) (…retroactively since the first case, but y'know. DD is a fucking mess hahaha)
Tangent: I have so many gripes with the Phantom, from taking an actually fun and likeable character (Fulbright) and making him the LEAST INTERESTING THING when he could have been cool (master of disguise!! Seamlessly emulates literally anyone imaginable!! Very little emotions!! That's such a cool concept I can't believe y'all fucking wasted it!!) and never actually building him up so that he's an actual presence
He's technically in the story from the first case, but only because. He's the one that detonated the bomb
If case 5-1 didn't happen in-between 5-4 like it did, then he wouldn't be there until 5-4 and it'd SUCK (okay technically he's there since 5-2 because. Fulbright. But Fulbright is straight up a different character from the Phantom so. I don't want to count it.)
It feels like the Phantom replaces Fulbright in 5-4 because of how little they paid attention to placing any hint that he was the Phantom all along. Ugh. As Verse keeps saying, they should have killed Gumshoe, for real
And it's not like this writer does a bad job at Gumshoe!! Gumshoe is one of the better parts of the aai games!! (He has rocks for brains but he's endearingly stupid XD )
Anyway. Back to the whole two climaxes dilemma.
In DD it's the whole Athena and Blackquill thing as the first Climax, then catching the Phantom is the second. This one is interesting because it's two breakdowns in the same case / trial segment, which does happen in DGS! But in DGS it has more time between them and, again, are treated differently on the story timeline feel. DGS has rising peaks and moments of calm that add to the rising action leading to the climax, whereas in DD these are both treated as bombastic climaxes without much differentiation between them. At least, that's how it feels to me?
And then SoJ just straight up has two separate trials in its finale case (which aren't even like 3-2 or 6-3 in which one trial leads into the other) and does better about having two climaxes, but I think all the peaks in the rising action are oddly paced and it has a satisfying ending but the journey to get there is a bit muddled. It doesn't exactly feel like it has two climaxes at least, showing that there has been improvement here, but it's still very messy.
I really hope the writer for AA7 at least learns from all this so we don't keep having this problem. It's funny how much we take writing fanfiction for granted and then see how much skill it actually takes to write something that feels like someone else's characters.

“ he told me i was an obligation ” (to maya. Fran talking about manfred?)
Poetry prompts
Tumblr media
“What a jerk! How can he say that to his own daughter?!” Maya hissed as she clenched her fists. She wouldn’t say it aloud, but she was glad he was gone forever. That way, Franziska won’t have to suffer anymore.
“Well, now that he’s gone, there’s no use dwelling on the past. Don’t let it get to you, Franziska. You’re not an obligation, I promise! You’re a prodigy who locks up criminals! Though... you’re not hung up on that ‘perfection’ thing now, are you? It’s been almost eight years since then.”

Ema still squinted suspiciously, having not decided on what the reaction might mean. Maybe Von Karma was surprised she got it right. Maybe she was surprised that Ema would even assume such a thing.
"I mean..." She looked away with an uncertain gesture. "Unfortunately, scientifically speaking, he can be charming. Women, and men I guess, fall for it. He can just-" She demonstrated as she spoke- "smile, flip his hair and get his way." Her final face was one of disgust. "I swear, if I could, I would accuse him of witchcraft and burn him on holy fire." She sighed. "But he isn't a witch, obviously, and people are just dumb."
"So, really." Ema turned to look at Von Karma again. "I can't imagine what he did to get you, of all people, to come here tonight."
legalbrats:
Ema grinned. “That’s what he is. He is shiny like a bottle of glitter, likes to look fashionable and is definitely not straight.” Vongole barked at that, as if agreeing. That got her a laugh from Ema and some more pats. “I’m just surprised that not that many people see it!”
She turned to look at Franziska, eyes judging.
“What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you fell for it.” After all, why else would Franziska Von Karma of all people come here, to Klavier Gavin’s house, to watch some shitty reality shows?
‘Shiny like a bottle of glitter’ - yes.
‘Likes to look fashionable’ - yes, indeed. Franziska nods along, smirking, assured that she’s doing this whole ‘hanging out with friends’ thing quite well–
‘Definitely not straight’ - wait– ?!
Franziska is caught in a demented half-grin, watching Ema and the dog laugh it up as horror rises in her chest. Her lips twitch - she actually recoils when the scientist fixes her with the sort of glare she’s certain is usually reserved for blood samples on a microscope slide.
Tumblr media
“F-…Fell for it? What on this great foolish earth do you mean by that?”
The question is entirely genuine. Had she been reading things wrong this entire time? So growingly certain that Klavier had been flirting with her, like a huge, absolute, moronic fucking doofus idiot FOOL?! How stupid to even consider such a thing! The little touches, the gifts, the honeyed words…that was what FRIENDS did?! How was she to know?! Her hands, rigid around her purse strap, clench harder, nails biting into the meat of her palm.
