I'm still here, still floating about, and will make an art of some description happen in the not too distant future.

In addition to all those Twilight marathons, the Midnight Drive-In is also featuring The Lovely Bones until May 1st. This confuses a lot of people who are expecting a familiar adaptation and getting something much weirder. Also, it was produced in Ireland? No one recognizes the names in the credits.

Have you ever played Viva Piñata? Now you can in real life! Cute, colorful piñatas have become animated and are hopping around town. Some people are ecstatic to chase them, whack them open, and get all the goodies inside. Others not so much. They might explode all on their own, too, and they aren't all filled with candy.

The RP is celebrating its 1 year anniversary! We'll be posting some goodies this upcoming weekend, but in the meantime, enjoy the meta anons and content being posted to the main throughout the week.

Should Have Saw It Coming

Artica: For the New Moon Halloween dinner party, I’ve made my world famous macaroni and cheese with a cheese cracker topping I make with butter, thyme, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and paprika!

Meena: You really take spices seriously, don’t you?

Artica: Well, it’s like my grandpa always said, if you aren’t sneezin’, then it isn’t seasoned.

This is kind of a play off an old project I did a million years ago, but I'm currently rewatching the entirety of The 7D and taking note of certain things, for the sake of my own stories and OC stuff. Here's what I've got for the first 4 episodes so far, for those that are interested.

Episode 1

The Long, Long Winter

The Glooms freeze Jollywood Joe so he can’t end winter in the enchanted forest, forcing it to get so cold that Queen Delightful and the Jollywoodians have no choice but to move elsewhere

He keeps getting blasted away by Sneezy’s sneezes and ends up having to stay at the castle, till a solution can be found. 

The Glooms keep trying to get his beard hairs for a spell. He makes use of Sneezy’s sneezes to save the day.

Trying to figure out what keeps causing his huge sneezes that keep sending Grumpy flying. His sneezes are used to save the day.

The ruler makes pies that everyone in Jollywood then use in a village wide pie throwing fight

CONFLICT:

The Gloom’s are tricking to get some of Grumpy’s beard hairs, but keep getting thwarted when Sneezy’s sneezes keep blasting both him and them away. It happens frequently enough that they start to think Sneezy is allergic to Grumpy, not realizing he’s actually allergic to Bob the squirrel.

His sneezes when caused by an allergic reaction to squirrels are strong enough to blast Grumpy all the way around the globe

The Delightful Diamond Mystery

Supposedly, ghosts haunt Queen Delightful’s caslte

CONFLICT:

The Delightful Diamond (Queen Delightful’s favorite diamond) goes missing and they believe it’s been stolen. In the ends it’s discovered that it was no actually ‘stolen’, instead it was taken by Sir Yipsalot, because it’s ball shaped and Queen Delightful has been trying to teach him how to play fetch with a ball.

The conflict revolves around her being stolen

Hildy Gloom wants a magic mirror that will tell her she’s the fairest in the land, but when the mirror Grim buys her ends up being busted and obnoxious, he steals Queen Delightful’s magic mirror and replaces it with the busted one. The 7D then try to get the magic mirror back.

Bashful accidentally causes Queen Delightful’s special new sky bucket to crash into the stage, causing problems (in his eyes). He feels so bad that he’s too sad to show back up, but through a series of mishaps ends up saving her from the Glooms, though under the guise of the secret identity ‘The Big Bash’.

He is trying to do everything he can to keep Queen Delightful out of the castle until sundown and in the end it is revealed to be a surprise party for his birthday

CONFLICT:

The 7D are trying to put on a surprise party for Queen Delightful’s birthday and task Lord Starchbottom with keeping her out of the castle until sundown. In the end, it’s revealed to actually be a surprise party for Lord Starchbottom himself. Having listened in, Hildy then tasks Grim with providing her with a surprise party and spying on the 7D to figure out how to do so.

A dragon lives in the depths of the 7D mine, where they dump their rubbish

The Rock of Sages

Looks very different from and contradicts the lore shared in the episode ‘The Rock of Sages’

Could be seen as a false ‘Rock of Sages’ with a false lore, spread to keep people from discovering the truth of and putting back together the real rock

CONFLICT:

The Glooms pretend to be new dwarf neighbors to get in the 7D’s mine so that they can find the Rock of Sages.

i would like some answers to some weird questions from you, a writer!! specifically 1, 32, and 34(((:

what font do you write in?

It depends! I have one doc in calibri and one in arial and then there's another one in courier new haha. im all over the board, i use word so sometimes I'll slip back into times as well if im feeling nostalgic for school :')

32. what is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?

This is kind of long haha, so in the 9th grade, I took a creative writing class, and one of our units was about memoirs; during that section of the class, the teacher gave us examples of memoir style writing and she happened to give us this print out of a chapter from a book, and that chapter was called Notes.

Towards the end of the chapter there was this bit here: "I did not look on my work as therapy, and still don't. Yet when I received Norman Bowker's letter, it occurred to me that the act of writing had led me through a swirl of memories that might otherwise have ended in paralysis or worse. By telling stories, you objectify your own experience. You separate it from yourself. You pin down certain truths. You make up others. You start sometimes with an incident that truly happened, like the night in the shit field, and you carry it forward by inventing incidents that did not in fact occur but that nonetheless help to clarify and explain."

The true full circle really came around two years later, at a completely different school, when I checked a book out of the library called "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. I was hooked, it's a memoir style novel based in the Vietnam War and about three quarters of the way through the book, lies the exact chapter I'd read at a completely different school, in a completely different class, at a completely different time of my life. It was such a defining point in my life, I think. When I really realized the power that story telling could hold. Two years after that, I wrote a 30k+ fic to cope with my mother's death and I finally finally understood what Tim meant by the power of taking a story, even steeped in reality, and writing it out on paper.

And honestly, not a day goes by that I don't think about The Things They Carried and the two chapters about Norman Bowker.

Genuinely have no thoughts about it tbh, because I had to google exactly what it was and lmao I already use too many commas as it is in my writing so like. what's a few more? if you ain't sneezin, it ain't seasoned but for writing i guess :')

'TIS THE SEASON FOR THE SNEEZIN' - What causes dogs to sneeze and when should you be concerned?

sneeze /snēz/ (n.) the act of expelling air from the nose; (v.) to make a sudden involuntary expulsion of air from the nose/mouth due to irritation in the nostrils

Sneezing can be a perfectly normal behavior observed in our dogs, especially since they're constantly putting their noses to work. It's not uncommon for a dog to sniff up something once in awhile that might tickle their nose.

Dogs may also sneeze when they get happy or excited. Every now and then, a "reverse sneeze" can occur when air is inhaled rapidly. This can sound like a snort and sometimes look like an asthma attack, or like they are choking - although it can be scary, this is not at all what is happening and the reverse sneezing usually will subside after a few seconds. Here is an example below:

Common Causes of Sneezing

Allergies/Irritants - This includes plant particles, dust, or other substances in the air that can cause irritation in the nasal cavity.

Nasal Obstruction - Brachycephalic dog breeds (i.e. French Bulldog, Pug, Boxer, Pekingese, Shih Tzu, etc.) are more prone to frequent sneezing because of their flat faces and shortened muzzles, which cause compression to their nasal passages.

When to be concerned...

In some cases, sneezing - especially when severe or consistent - can be a sign of something more serious that needs to be addressed.

Foreign Objects - Some plant materials your dog may inhale can eventually get stuck. Foxtails especially pose a threat during the late spring-summer months, when their spiked leaves have dried out and hardened. Dogs often need to be sedated for foxtails to be extracted from the nasal cavity. (They also can get stuck under the skin, in between the paws, in ears, eyelids, or the throat. In worse-case scenarios, a foxtail can also travel to the lungs!)

Infectious Diseases - Other substances your dog may inhale could be bacterial or fungal spores. (See my previous posts about ASPERGILLOSIS and CANINE INFECTIOUS RESPIRATORY DISEASE COMPLEX.)

Nasal Mites - These parasites are reported worldwide. They can either be directly transmitted from other infested dogs, or otherwise found in the environment. An infestation of these in your dog's nose can cause constant itchiness, sneezing, and bleeding depending on the severity.

Dental Disease - Dogs who suffer from severe periodontal disease or a fractured tooth may develop tooth root abscesses. If left untreated, infection can spread to the surrounding tissues, sometimes causing significant facial swelling that erupt the nasal passages.

Nasal Tumor/Cancer - Statistically, about 1-2% of dog tumors are found in the nasal cavity - and about 80% of them turn out to be malignant. Because these tumors are hidden in the nasal cavity, they are more difficult to detect. By the time symptoms are noticeable by a dog owner, often the nasal cancer is already at an advanced stage - and due to the sensitivity of its location, surgery is often difficult. Prognosis varies by case, although the median survival rate for dogs that undergo radiation therapy ranges from 6-18 months. As with any type of cancer, the earlier it is diagnosed and treated, the better the chances are that treatment will be successful.

If you believe your dog's sneezing may be due to an underlying health issue, do not hesitate to consult with a veterinarian. Always be on the lookout for these additional symptoms if you ever think your dog is sneezing one too many times...

It's occurred to me lately that I have never written a writeblr intro. I should probably do that.

Hello there, my gorgeous readers.

I am a non-binary autistic author in a queerplatonic polycule with two lovely trans ladies, whom I nickname as "Beloved" and "Adorable" for reasons of privacy. I frequently battle with chronic bronchial asthma every spring and autumn - aka "Sneezin' and Wheezin' Season."

Sharing my primary residence are: two progeny [Chaos and Mayhem] and two cats [Pippi and Jolie], the felines might be turning up on my flash fiction streams on Twitch [ https://www.twitch.tv/bitzerk ].

I use the pen-name C. M. Weller and I have been writing stories since I became aware that I could do that. I've been writing flash fictions every day since 2013 as both mental exercise and "advertising budget". Like the short ones? Maybe go look at the novels and see if they're your flavour too!
