Much scholarship on the representation of Black women athletes is focused on tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, who have long been prominent in a sport historically dominated by Whites. Spencer showed that the Williams sisters “have been characterized in terms of their physicality since their arrival within the popular imagery.” In an analysis of discourse surrounding the catsuit-style outfit Serena wore to the 2002 U.S. Open, Schultz found that muscularity often serves as a signifier for masculinity, which works in detriment to Black women athletes by conferring them a quasi-suprahuman status. The “convention of associating Black women with physical, mental and moral strength” can create a stereotype that implies that Black women possess characteristics normally associated with masculinity, and thus lie outside the boundaries of natural womanhood. If Black women’s bodies are thought to exceed “the boundaries of femininity,” then a dichotomy arises between Black sportswomen’s racial and gender identities. On the one hand, they continue to face the same stereotypes as their White counterparts, such as minimization of their athletic skills and emphasis on their lives outside of sports, but they also face racial stereotypes that position them as unfeminine. This necessitates a consideration of the complex interplay between the racial and gendered identities of Black women athletes. They are simultaneously portrayed as being “natural” athletes in the context of race and “unnatural” in the context of gender, where athleticism and muscularity fall beyond the bounds of hegemonic femininity.

Confessor Knox (WIP)

On meeting Confessor Knox, many people have the sudden and chilling realisation that the Apostatic Union must be growing increasingly desperate if they had to enlist the help of such an unrepentant heretic. Such realisations are either assuaged or exacerbated when her Cephalok spawn-turned-sky ship descends, filled to the brim with clearly stolen treasures. But for a pretty penny, she can sail you wherever you need to go, after all, no one questions a union member's business, nor the contents of her cargo hold.

Okay, so I got really into the game Dread Delusion. It's a retro-style open-world RPG with strange gods, cool lore, and sky islands!

I would really recommend it. It's one of the few games that really captured the joy of discovery for me, to the point that I could easily sink a few hours into just exploring the map and listening to the chill music.

Anyway, the more I have played, the more I imagined my character!
