The voice of Frankie Valli filled the room, and James sat up erect in his seat, staring in Laurie's direction, eyes wide and eyebrows raised.

"Oh no."

"Oh yes." He stood up, grabbing Laurie and pulling her up with him. "Me and Laurie used to dance, still do I suppose. Our parents put us in lessons, ballroom dancing was the priority but we made do on our own, Laurie's mum would put on fun records and show us how to-um what was it? jive, or shimmy!" He was nodding his head along to the music, swinging both of their arms back and forth.

"Is this the norm for purebloods?" Sirius was watching in amusement and Peter snorted.

"Most definitely not."

"My parents forced me into ballroom dancing too. And ballet, but that's a story for another time."

"𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘵!?" Lily slapped her hand over her mouth.

"Mhm," Sirius nodded, unperturbed. "Quite good actually, though you'd have to get me drunk to see it."

James and Laurie were still dancing in the center of the room, James spinning her around, swaying to the music, laughing the whole while.

Laurie had gotten over whatever embarrassment she had felt and was laughing along as well, nodding to the beat, exaggeratedly.

"Come on." She gestured at the rest of the group and they got up, some less enthusiastic than others.

"You're just too good to be trueee." James and Remus were facing each other now, fists held up to imitate microphones.

"Can't take my eyes off youuu." Lily had her arms over Laurie's shoulders. "My parents love this song."

Peter and Sirius had joined the group in standing up, but weren't exactly familiar with the song; standing awkwardly.

Laurie was having none of it, and grabbed both their arms, pulling them in closer.
