Sirius: He took the dirty ball from me when I gave it to him...
James: Yes, you were a dog
Sirius: He took the ball AND thanked me...
James: Yeah, because you were a dog
Sirius: He thanked me and gave it back...
James: Still, don't see anything
Sirius: I'm going to jump at him and lick him across his face just for doing that
James: Still as a dog, right?
Sirius: ...
James: RIGHT???

Hey gorg!!!
I saw the post about wanting pregnant reader/ dad marauders prompts and I literally ran here.
I’ve got two ideas, so whichever gives you the most inspiration/ whatever you like best 😂
1- pregnant!reader who just hits her limit for the day- overwhelmed and overstimulated with everything to the point she jsut wants to sit and cry- all because of something silly
Or!!
2- reader on their first day away from baby with the girls- leaving dad!marauders to it, coming back to a baby who’s very excited to be free from the chaos of the boys.
Lots of love!!
-🥟
eeeeeeeek I went with #2!!! thank you my love <3
dad!marauders x mum!reader who saves their daughter from the boys' tyranny [522 words]
CW: kid fic, fem!reader, you have a daughter but I avoided assigning her a name (let me know how ya'll prefer that: do you want me to name the kid? or do you want me to leave it ambiguous? I feel like it would probably read easier/more naturally with an assigned name, but I understand if you like making that up yourself)
“Oh thank gods you’re home.” Sirius pushed out all in one breath as he hastily stood from the couch with your daughter in hand.
You clicked the door shut behind you as you took your shoes off, furrowing your brows at a frazzled looking Sirius and an equally frazzled looking baby in his arms.
“You have to help us.” He begged quickly. “They’re driving us mad.”
“What?” You laughed carefully, though you had to admit that your child had a nearly identical pout on her lips as her papa, and you were quite sure babies her age didn’t have the ability to conspire.
Though, you were sure if any baby could conspire, it would be a baby Marauder.
“They haven’t stopped all day.” Sirius enunciated, whispering at you and looking over his shoulder as if some invisible threat was going to attack at any given moment. “Jamie got up this morning on a warpath; first we went on a family walk to feed the ducks some corn. Fine, I’ll let it slide. We no sooner got home, and Moony set up the sandbox in the yard. Great. But then, James insisted we go to the park! Which - okay, that was fun, because I got to run around as Padfoot. But then after a mere 20 minute nap, Remus had us out at the stream catching and releasing frogs!”
You awed in sympathy as you brushed some fine hair away from your baby girl’s forehead who was using her two pudgy hands to rub at her eyes.
“You tired, lovie?” You asked the child, but they both whined a yes in response.
“Okay.” You murmured as you accepted the sleepy child’s grabby hands, only for her to immediately rest her head on your shoulder and melt into your embrace.
“Pads? Where’d you guys run off to?” James called from the other room, and Sirius’ paled. “We’ve got the water table set up.”
“Oh gods,” Sirius whimpered, “they’re coming.”
“Sirius,” you started to chide, but he simply turned and started pushing you towards the hall that led to the bedrooms.
“Go, save yourselves. I’ll hold them off.” He whispered theatrically.
“Sirius!” You squealed, laughing as he pressed a kiss to the side of your head - taking a deep breath as if he was trying to memorise your scent like he may never get the chance to do it again - and pat at your hip.
“Make sure our baby girl grows up knowing the sacrifices her brave, brave papa made for her.” He offered solemnly, walking backwards as he held your gaze. “Go! Nap! Rest! Waste the day away in ways many of us only dream!”
You giggled at him as he disappeared around the corner, hearing Remus murmur “what the hell was all that about?” only to hear a grunt, a chuckle, and a theatric “I won’t let you tyrannise our sweet girls any longer!”
“What do you say, sweetheart? Time for a nap?” You murmured as you made your way towards your bedroom; a nap did sound appealing, now that you thought about it.
An answer never came, however; she was already fast asleep.

trick or treat
(this is painfully American and no I'm not taking any criticism about that because frankly I don't care)
---
“Daddy, when is Harry coming?”
Sirius glanced at the clock. “In one hour, bug.”
“How long is that?”
“That’s as long as one nap.”
Teddy pouted. “That’s a long time.”
Sirius grinned. “It’s not that long, I promise. Do you have your costume laid out?”
“Yes!”
“And you’ve got your bucket?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Where are your shoes?”
Teddy pointed at the door, where he had carefully placed his shoes.
Sirius wiped his hands on a towel. “Do you want to go to the park while we wait?”
“Yeah!”
The least Sirius could do, he figured, was to try to run off some of Teddy’s energy before letting Harry take him for the night. He bundled Teddy into his coat and whistled for the dogs. They came running, and Sirius clipped on their leashes.
“I wanna walk Bowie!” Teddy demanded, and Sirius handed over the red leash. He had had several stern talks with the dogs as Padfoot when Teddy was a baby, telling them how fragile a human child could be and how they weren’t ever to jump on, pull, or knock Teddy over. The lectures were probably unnecessary, as all his dogs were intelligent and well-behaved, but it made him feel better about the whole thing. Bowie was larger than Teddy, but he walked calmly down the street, not even running after a squirrel when it darted in front of him.
They played for half an hour in the park before walking back. Well, Sirius and the dogs walked, while Teddy ran ahead of them. So much for burning off his energy.
Harry was already waiting for them at the house when they returned, and Teddy shouted in excitement.
“Harry!”
“Hi, Teds.” Harry dropped into a crouch as Teddy ran at him, catching the boy in a hug. “Are you ready to go?”
“No! I need my costume!”
“Let’s go put it on then, shall we?” Harry straightened. “Hi, Sirius.”
“Hi, love. Thanks for doing this.”
“It’s no problem.”
Teddy dragged Harry off to his room, chattering at him a mile a minute. Sirius’s heart swelled as he listened to his kids, to Harry’s questions and Teddy’s excited answers. He fed the dogs while Harry helped Teddy with his costume, and then finished cleaning up the kitchen from dinner.
The doorbell rang, and he went to answer it.
“‘Lo, you two,” he said, standing back to let Ron and Hermione in. “Teddy’s already got Harry captive.”
Feet pounded down the hallway, and Teddy ran into the room. Or, rather, a pteranodon with Teddy’s face ran into the room.
“Ron!” he cheered. “Hermy!”
“My goodness,” Hermione said, taking in the elaborate costume that Sirius had spent hours magicking into existence using some clothes Teddy had grown out of. “What kind of dinosaur are you?”
“Not a dinosaur,” Teddy said, sounding offended. “‘s a flying reptile, Hermy.”
“And what’s it called, Teds?” Sirius prompted.
“A ter-an-don.”
“Pteranodon,” Sirius said.
“That’s what I said!”
They went outside so Teddy could stretch out the wings of his costume and Sirius could take pictures.
“Alright, Tedster.” Sirius knelt in front of the little boy. “You have fun tonight, okay?”
“I will.”
“Good. Can I give you a hug?”
Teddy allowed a hug and a kiss, and then he ran to Harry, taking his hand and tugging him down the street.
***
Sirius never visited James and Lily’s graves on Halloween.
He visited the cottage instead.
He knelt in the entryway where he had found James’s body. He climbed the stairs to the nursery where he had found Lily’s, where he had scooped a bleeding and sobbing Harry from the wreckage of his crib. He sat in the kitchen, where he’d spent countless afternoons having Sunday lunch with his best friends. He lingered in the living room, where he’d played with Harry on hands and knees while James watched fondly from the sofa.
He wandered the cottage like a ghost, haunted by the lives that had never unfolded here, by all the futures they could have had.
After, he returned home, lit a fire in the fireplace, and sat on the sofa with a glass of wine. The dogs joined him--Bowie draped across his lap, Sasha and Zephyr curled up on either side. Demeter wandered out of Teddy’s room and leaped on the back of the sofa, purring as she rubbed her head against Sirius’s cheek. It was the only day of the year she ever paid him any attention.
By the time Harry, Ron, and Hermione returned with Teddy, Sirius had had a good cry, finished his wine, and made a batch of hot cocoa for everyone. Teddy was only wearing half his costume, and Harry carried the other half while Ron carried his candy bucket.
“Daddy, look what I got!” Teddy exclaimed, running up to Sirius. Sirius hoisted him onto his hip and inspected the bucket.
“Very nice, Teddy,” he said. “Did you have fun?”
“Yeah, I wanna go again.”
“Next year, bug.” Sirius kissed his cheek and set him down again. "Let's get you some hot cocoa, you're freezing."
The kids then settled on the floor in the living room in a circle, Teddy on Harry’s lap.
“Okay, Teds, let’s see what you got.”
Teddy upended the bucket on the floor, and sweets scattered everywhere. The dogs all lifted their heads, eyeing the sweets curiously. Sirius flicked his wand, and the candy all gathered in a neat pile.
“Three pieces only tonight, Teddy,” Sirius said.
“Five?”
“Three.”
“Four?”
Sirius dragged a hand down his face, trying to suppress a laugh. “Teddy.”
“We can choose three,” Harry said. “Come on, Teds, we’ll help you pick out your three favorites. Then we’ll put the rest away for other special occasions. You remember how sick you got last year? That wasn’t any fun, was it?”
“No,” Teddy said sullenly. He heaved a great sigh. “Fine.”
Harry, Ron, and Hermione spent the next half hour sorting through Teddy’s candy with him, separating out the toys and trinkets that some houses had handed out instead, and discarding the candy Teddy wouldn’t eat. Sirius retreated to his study but left the door open, warmed by the joy emanating from the other room.
“Teddy, where did you get all this licorice?” Ron asked at one point, laughing. “You hate licorice. Here, we’ll throw them out--”
“No, Ron! Those are for Daddy.”
“Sirius does like licorice,” Hermione said, and Sirius could hear the shrug in her voice.
“Yeah, an’ Daddy’s sad. So he gets licorice.”
There was a beat of silence, and then Harry said, “You think Daddy’s sad?”
“Yeah, Halloween makes ‘im sad,” Teddy said. He lowered his voice and added, “I think it’s ‘cause he’s scared of the costumes.”
“Maybe you’re right, Teds. Why don’t you go give him his candy to make him feel better?”
“Okay!” Teddy scampered into the study, holding a handful of licorice. “Daddy, I have presents for you.”
“Thank you, Teddy.” Sirius absolutely was not going to cry again. He pressed a kiss to the crown of Teddy’s head. “I feel better already. Why don’t you go eat your treats, and then have Harry help brush your teeth? It’s almost time for bed.”
In the end, Ron helped Teddy with his bath, Harry brushed his teeth, and Hermione read him a bedtime story. Sirius almost felt guilty about letting the kids take over so much tonight, but Harry had given him a stern talking-to two years ago when Teddy first started trick or treating. For one night, he and his partners could handle Teddy while Sirius gave over to his grief.
Teddy was half-asleep when Sirius went to say goodnight to him. Demeter was curled up at his side. She flicked her tail lazily when Sirius came into the room, but otherwise didn’t acknowledge him.
“Good night, Teddy,” he whispered, drawing the dinosaur-patterned blankets up to Teddy’s shoulders. “I hope you had a good Halloween.”
“Daddy,” Teddy said sleepily, “will you come next year?”
Sirius stroked Teddy’s curls. “You want me to come with you?”
“Mmhmm.” Teddy snuggled into his pillow. “You can dress up.”
“Oh? And what would I dress up as?”
Teddy blinked open his eyes and gave him a perfectly innocent look. “Stubby Boardman?”
Sirius huffed. “Your big brother has been putting ideas into your head again, I see.”
He leaned down and kissed Teddy’s cheek. “Sure, baby. I’ll go with you next year.”
---
(Remus isn't in this because I didn't feel like writing him. He's probably dead, but you can imagine they're divorced and this is Sirius's week with Teddy if that makes you feel better. Also Harry is definitely dating both Ron and Hermione okay bye).

marauders headcanons
- james keeps hair ties on his wrist, it started with sirius but at this point everyone knows that if they need to pull their hair up james has got them covered
- james’ parents are stupid powerful, effie especially, but they prefer a quiet life and a peaceful little home. that’s why sirius’ parents let him leave. they aren’t necessarily afraid of effie, but they know trying to fight her would not end well
-the woman is insanely protective of her family, the second james set his eyes on sirius he was effie’s son, she would do anything to protect him
- james is also weirdly good at braiding hair, if regulus is seen walking around with intricate braids in his hair the group can assume that he and james were studying together
- james does not study, he just enjoys sitting with regulus, regulus has learned if he gives james a task he is more likely to keep quiet and therefore he lets james play with his hair
-they mostly all prefer red gummy bears so they just buy the red ones in bulk (pete likes the clear ones and marlene likes the green ones) (they have their own bags)
-sirius is not at all picky about music, one might assume that he listens to alt rock or anything similar, but he will truly appreciate anything
- sirius and regulus listen to a lot of classical french music and french rock, james listens to lots of spanish pop
- remus and lily swap books once they have finished reading them, fully annotated and marked up. it turns into somewhat of a book club within the entire group but pete is dyslexic and james, sirius, and dorcas have adhd so it takes them months to get through something. ( they just wanted to be included) (they all share an audible account) the larger book club reads one book every six months. lily and remus swap at least once a week.
- regulus and pandora have their own secret greenhouse where they grow flowers and fruits and vegetables, they use it as a art studio and a music studio. if regulus can’t be found he is in the greenhouse, despite being a ‘secret’ all of their friends know this. dorcas is not allowed in the greenhouse, neither are wormtail or prongs as their animagus forms
- sirius has a third nipple on his abdomen, he claims that it is a mole. Regulus was born with extra fingers that their parents had surgically removed. (inbreeding genetics)
- when sirius is stressed he goes for runs as padfoot, do not ask how many strays he has brought back with him (effie and fleamont have a dog, two cats, and a bird) (the rest of them are taken in by random families of friends or marlene’s grandparents who own a farm)
- peter hates cheese
- lily is a rock girlie, for absolutely not reason, but she will absolutely stop in the middle of a busy parking lot to pick up a random pebble because she liked it’s shape
- james and regulus have collections of rocks that she has gifted them
-they all wear remus’s jumpers, all of them. sirius steals one, james gets ahold of it, and from there it is untraceable. circulating throughout the friend group until remus or sirus forcefully take them back. james makes up for it by knitting him more.
- lily, remus, and james have “eat the rich” t-shirts (i am well aware that james is incredibly wealthy, so is he)
- regulus experiments a bit with eyeliner - james has a moment where his brain promptly shuts down as he considers if and how he might have died and gone to heaven
- regulus is COVERED in tattoos, barty bought himself a tattoo machine and he never got all that good at using it, regulus though is an artist. he has so many tattoos that he has lost count, and most of them he designed himself, pandora has drawn him a few and one is a doodle remus drew in the margins of a book
- sirius does not know where regulus gets his tattoos and has been begging for years for the name of his artist
-sirius is SO supportive of james and regulus’ relationship. he loves them both so much and he is glad that they make each other so happy, he is glad that regulus has found a home.
-this does not stop sirius from nagging about it, if the marauders have a group vote about something and james and sirius are on opposite sides sirius will say “you’re shagging my baby brother, you get no opinion” and james will usually relent

Imagine regulus black as risk by Gracie Abrams (modern au)
Regulus freshly out of the Grimmauld Place just transitioned from female to male shows up to sirius' new apartment, but when sirius opens the door and doesn't realize the boy on his steps is actually his sibling reg lies saying he had the wrong apartment
(Look at me now
Said I wouldn't do it, but I hunted you down
Know you had a girl, but it didn't work out
Know you bought a house, but you had to move out and
I'm not proud
Guess I'm just scared of you shooting it down
You can just talk, and I'll stare at your mouth
It could be bad, but I wanna find out)
Reg, after having a nightmare about the night sirius left and how reg felt after his siri, his big brother had left him to die in their mother's grasp
(And I wake up
In the middle of the night
With the light on
And I feel like I could die
'Cause you're not here
And it don't feel right
'Cause you're not here)
Reg when a cute boy named James accidentally texted him instead of his friend padfoot but they continue to text anyway
(God, I'm actually invested
Haven't even met him
Watch this be the wrong thing
Classic
God, I'm jumping in the deep end
It's more fun to swim in
Heard the risk is drownin', but I'm gonna take it
I'm gonna take it
Isn't it fun?
Thinking I'm right when I'm probably wrong
Holding my breath like I met someone
Knowing damn well that I haven't been touched by you)
Reg after he agreed to meet james at a park and saw him across the car park. He walks over and hears James stutter for a second before speaking, and when he hears the voice, he feels at home for the first time.
(In my head
You're in the car and
You're coming to me and
You get to my door and
You can't even speak but
I think that it's sweet
Yeah, I think that you're sweet)
Reg realizing he's in love and having even more nightmares scared of losing James like he did sirius
(And I wake up
In the middle of the night
With the light on
And you're not here)
Reg when he got in James's car after James asked him to meet his best friends
(God, I'm actually invested
Haven't even met him
Watch this be the wrong thing
Classic)
Reg after seeing sirius hug James, tears flooding his face as he runs away from both James and sirius, thinking that everything with James had been a mistake
(God, I'm jumping in the deep end
It's more fun to swim in
Heard the risk is drownin', but I'm gonna take it
I'm gonna bend 'til I break and
You'll be my favorite mistake)
Reg being plagued with nightmares about James and sirius
(I wish you could hold me here, shakin'
You're the risk, I'm gonna take it
Why aren't you here in my bedroom?
Hopelessly boring without you)
Reg randomly showing up to sirius's place crying, telling him who he is and how sorry he was about their childhood
(Too soon to tell you "I love you")
Reg showing up to James telling him he was sorry for running away and that he was in love with him
(Too soon to tell you "I love you")
Reg 15 years later telling 13 year old Harry about how he and James got together after Harry told him he was in love for the first time
(God, I'm actually invested
Think I really want this
I'm not even kidding
No, I'm actually invested
Haven't even met yet
Wish that I was kidding
I'm not, and I hate it
God, I'm actually invested
Haven't even met yet
Watch this be the wrong thing
Classic
God, I'm jumping in the deep end
It's more fun to swim in
Heard the risk is drownin', but I'm gonna take it
I'm gonna take it
Heard the risk is drownin', but I'm gonna take it)
Reg telling Harry to confess to the person he liked because he would regret it if he didn't
(Too soon to tell you "I love you"
Too soon to tell you "I love you"
Too soon to tell you "I love you"
You're the risk, I'm gonna take it)

🎂Sirius' Birthday Week Day 4: His relationship with Harry
Alright, we all know what canonically happened on this date but in this instance FUCK CANON! (*Stede Bonnet voice*: No, not literally! STOP!!!)
So what if Harry got to grow up with godfather Padfoot?
This got a bit lengthy but I just had a bunch of thoughts about this. Good uncle Padfoot is very important to me.
I think Sirius would be sceptical about becoming godfather while Lily was pregnant. He wouldn't tell the happy parents and was of course overjoyed that they thought of him but he had his reservations. He just couldn't image he'd be good at that.
When Harry was born and he held him for the first time he was terrified he'd drop him. He was so scared he would do something wrong and hurt the child in whatever way possible and for that reason did not want to be around baby Harry all that much.
But James and Lily needed his support. With the grandparents out of the picture, he was their "village" and Sirius had sworn he would never let James down. So - Sirius being an all or nothing type of guy - he dove right in. Buried himself in parenting books - muggle ones, he has lost all trust in magical parenting due to his own upbringing -, buys one of these baby carries for his chest and takes Harry on little walks through the park when the new parents are close to a breakdown.
The two soon find their rythm and when Harry is three months old, Sirius is entirely smitten. He would murder for this child in a heartbeat. When he comes to visit and picks Harry up he covers his little head in kisses and Lily starts joking that he is fussing more about him than her (that is a lie).
As Harry grows older they keep bonding. Whenever Sirius leaves the country for work or vacation he always writes Harry postcards. At first James has to read them for him but when Harry is older he starts writing back. For the first year or so the cards and letters are entirely unreadable but Sirius still keeps all of them in a box in his wardrobe, together with every messy drawing he ever gave him.
Friday night is Padfoot night and Harry sleeps at Sirius' place. They always do something fun together: Watch a movie in a muggle cinema, play all the boardgames Harry has managed to carry in, go for a camping trip on a hill to look at the stars.
Harry loves Padfoot night.
He also loves Padfoot. He rides on the giant dog until he is too big and heavy. Then they switch to playing fetch. Harry is the only one Padfoot would ever fetch anything for.
When Harry goes to Hogwarts, Sirius gives him a reassuring talk that he is loved, no matter what house he will end up in. He means it.
During school years, there is no Padfoot night but instead Sirius will send Harry letters every week. At first Harry loves that but when he becomes a teen he is annoyed. The ususal way of life. Sirius is a little hurt but he understands and doesn't hold it against him.
When Harry starts playing Quidditch, Sirius will make a point to come to his games, sitting behind Lucius Malfoy and clapping loudly next to his ear whenever Griffindor scores. It has the desired effect.
Sirius would be a constant in Harry’s life, just as his parents intended. He is the fun wine aunt but at the same time he isn't. Because he is just as worried and concerned about Harry’s wellbeing as his parents. Maybe part of this is about proving to himself that he can do better than his own parents. That he can provide a child with love and care and safety. And he can. And he does.
When Harry moves into a new house, James and Sirius build his kitchen together.
When Harry gets married, Sirius is there and holding a speech. Padfoot brings the rings.
When Harry's first child is born, Sirius is just as involved as the actual grandparents.
They would be close, unbothered by the ups and downs of life. Even when they don't talk for a while, Harry knows he is alway welcome with Sirius. He will always greet him with open arms no matter what.

Unorignal Marauders FRIENDS AU 2
Related to THIS and I'm trying to figure out what jobs they would have
Sirius and Regulus stopped talking after highschool. For a moment, it got better but everything crumbled very fast when their parents tried to send Sirius off to a very private (controlling) college for family business and since then they stopped talking. Before that they never really got along, competitive household and all that abuse crap, but Regulus' own revelations about himself made them talk.
Jegulus -
The prom video where Sirius stopped by James' place before that with Regulus, still a girl, where they prepared a suit for him and all to make him as the boy HE IS. But Regulus' date doesn't show up and he starts to panic and James tries to comfort him before Euphemia suggests that he brings Regulus himself.
At first he planned to go with Sirius and Marlene (who faked dating just to be prom king and queen) as friends because James had this tiny HUGE crush on Regulus since forever and dating someone else has never helped. But he decides that's his chance and rushes to the bathroom to check on his looks just to be sure that he is the most perfect for Regulus.
Regulus' date (Barty who had to deal with his dad) shows up at the last moment and only James' parents know what he tried to there but arrived too late.
James never dated Regulus before because the Black family is a MESS. Sirius came to his place so many time beaten up and Regulus played by his parents' rules until the last years but never as clearly. James never found the right moment to tell him about his feelings because of how worried he was for them - plus Regulus RARELY talked to him.
James would mistake Regulus for Sirius at first when he doesn't wear his glasses, which makes a very awkward moment where he walks out of the bathroom naked to ask Sirius to check on his tattoo (trampstamp supremacy) if it's healing well. He and Sirius are not bothered by seeing each other naked, plus James is shameless, but Regulus IS NOT PREPARED FOR THAT.
Of course Regulus tells him WRONG BROTHER WTF ARE YOU DOING YOU MORON and James panics because that's not how he planned to woo Regulus, probably hits his face against the door's threshold because no glasses when he tries to walk back in.
Marlene, plus Remus, will walk on them and she will take a picture and send it to everyone she knows. 'James F. Potter welcoming new roommate'.
Wolfstar -
Sirius would definitely beg Remus to never date Regulus once his brother is around because he is very scared about that idea. It's already hard that Remus is dating other people, obviously (not) moved on from Sirius, but it would be the worst if he was into Regulus. It would imply that Sirius isn't attractive enough (that's his conclusion) because he and Regulus do look similar.
If Regulus and Remus starts dating then Sirius will be torn between breaking them up and wishing them to be happy together. Basically he will die if that ever happens. Remus has absolutely no view on Regulus and promises him that will never happen but Sirius is still very jealous because they bond so well at first.
Remus rarely takes Padfoot on big walks because of his chronic pain but he often goes to the park with him to let Padfoot roam free (well-behaved dog who knows all kinds of orders). Sirius often joins him and no one says how it's obviously dates, especially when Sirius starts to prepare picnics for them and the 'walk' becomes FULL-DAY hangouts.
They met through James, who met Remus in college, and at first it was awkward because both were 'holy crap why is he so attractive and charming' before getting along so well James had to third-wheel. Remus was very jealous of James at first because of how co-dependent they are and sometimes it still happens (because they really don't have any boundaries at times).
Their attempt at dating, which started unclearly because they just sort of started kissing and sleeping together but without clarifying that they are BOTH very commited, probably one year or two before Regulus bursts in. They weren't hiding it on purpose but it added up on the misunderstandings (both were scared to come off too strong so they tried to play it cool because they have been friends for at least 3 years now) and both think the other wasn't honest/flirting with someone else/messing around.
Peter absolutely knows but never said it. Remus roamed through the apartment like a lost soul and was very cranky but he tried his best to help.

What's your guilty pleasure headcanon for Prongsfoot? c:
Guilty pleasure headcanon....
Hmmm that sometimes, Sirius actually just wants to be Padfoot and a normal dog with playing fetch and having fun and pretending all is right in the world.
(After Peter's betrayal in canon related fics, Padfoots favorite toy us a squeaky rat).
So, James gives that to him. He'll take him on walks and to the dog park, and they have playful clean fun.
And then, go home and have decidedly unclean fun :)

Jily lives!Prompt:
Sirius: wow, being a new mom?
Lily: yes, it’s amazing! I love James and I especially love our Harry.
Sirius: cool. But seriously, how is it being a mom?
Lily: I’M SO TIRED! *bursts into tears*
Of all of the friendships that the Marauders could have seen coming, no one expected Lily and Sirius becoming as close as they were.
Sirius and Lily would talk about anything from boy problems to arguing about the best kinds of potions methods, and never had an awkward silence.
It was during one of their weekly brunches when Sirius realized the deep bags under Lily’s eyes.
As they sat chittering about their husbands and work, Sirius took a solid look at Lily.
“So… wow. You’re a mom now, Lils!”
“Yeah! I am! Isn’t that crazy? I love Harry, and James is working so hard to help out!” Lily said cheerfully.
“I’m glad you’re happy, Lils. But seriously… how is it being a new mom?”
Lily paused, and looked at Sirius. “I. Am. So. Bloody. Tired.” She whispered.
Sirius frowned, as he saw tears gather at the corner of her eyes. He quickly grabbed his wallet, threw a couple of muggle pounds on the table, and dragged a crying Lily out of the restaurant.
They ended up walking through the park nearby. Sirius had given Lily his leather jacket, disregarding her protests, and she was still occasionally sniffling, as she told him about how hard it was.
Having James still working in Hogsmeade and her being on maternity leave from Hogwarts, was taking a toll on her.
“A few more months, Lils, and you can get back to it!”
“Thank you, Padfoot,” she whispered and pulled him into a tight hug.

a part of him is worried -- worried that things won't actually turn back to their relative normality. of course, nothing will ever return back to normal with james and lily gone -- but the distance between them is something that's unbearable. he doesn't care about their arguments; he doesn't care about anything having to do with that anymore. the war is over -- for now, according to albus. the last of the death eaters -- that they were aware of -- were locked up. harry was alive -- and the last thing lily and james would have wanted was for them to continue to live...the way they have been. barely any words spoken between the two of them, unless they were arguing. an almost relieved smile grows on his lips when sirius agrees, nodding and carefully pulling on a light sweater before gathering the supplies for bowie for their walk.
"i figured we could go to the dog park and let them both run around a bit? get some fresh air for everyone. maybe -- even let padfoot join in?" he can't remember the last time sirius let himself run around as padfoot -- not even on full moons because they have harry that they have to take care of. he watches sirius embrace harry, swallowing thickly when he sees the tears in his paramour's eyes. he hates it -- knowing there's nothing he can do but just simply exist for whenever sirius needs it. whenever he decides to finally use his shoulder as a place to lay his head on for support. remus doesn't even know if he's even properly grieved their friends -- too worried about losing sirius and harry in the chaos of it. he tears his gaze away from him as he grabs the leash, hearing bowie bark excitedly when he takes it off of the hook on the wall. he crouches down, scratching behind her ears as sirius gets harry ready for their outing. he hooks her leash onto her collar and smiles as she bounces around excitedly. remus looks up when sirius speaks, letting his eyes flick over his face and his smile falters slightly when he sees those tears again. he swallows and nods, shoving his keys and wallet into his pocket and opening the door for him and harry to leave and following after him. he locks up behind them, and slowly begins the walk toward the nearby dog park. remus glances over and goes to reach for his hand -- but then stops to shove his hand in his pocket instead as they walk. "thank you," he states softly, looking up from the ground to look over at his partner, "for coming with. it's -- a beautiful day, and i would've hated going by myself."

James was mildly suspicious. There had been an increase in hushed giggling between Harry and Sirius over the last couple days, and that could only mean trouble. It had been awhile since any sort of prank war had broken out amongst the family, as Teddy had been struggling to sleep through the night again for awhile and James and Sirius had been exhausted. Teddy had slept through the night for 5 nights in a row now, finally, and James was getting suspicious that Sirius was cooking up some sort of plot with Harry. At three years old, Harry was already taking after Sirius' most mischievous side.
James started ducking when he walked under doorways and peeking around corners before cautiously entering a room, certain he would walk into a trap eventually. When Sirius announced that they would be cooking dinner and a special dessert of some kind, James really started to panic. Sirius had even brought Harry into the kitchen to help with "dessert" so James was sure this would be the trap. The prank war would surely start in earnest after dinner tonight.
All afternoon, while Sirius and Harry were occupied in the kitchen, James tried to distract himself by playing with Teddy. He even took Teddy for a walk in the park, just to get away from the sense of impending doom emanating from the kitchen. Eventually, time ran out. Harry came to the living room to announce in a very serious toddler voice that dinner would be served in the dining room, before breaking out into giggles and running back to the kitchen. James walked slowly, dread building with every step, carrying Teddy to his highchair and strapping him in.
Dinner was surprisingly delicious and James couldn't figure out what was going on. Harry had apparently helped mash the potatoes and James and Sirius were sure to give him lots of praise for his hard work. The only thing still giving James pause was that Harry couldn't seem to stop giggling every time he looked at Sirius. Nothing seemed odd about the food at all. James decided it must be something to do with dessert and tried to relax and enjoy dinner with his family.
Eventually, Harry declared himself "all done" and squealed "Dessert time Padfoot, please!"
Uh oh. James knew his time was up. What would it be? Something that would turn his tongue green for days? Maybe a pie enchanted to hit him in the face when he went to take a bite? Sirius walked back into the room and… wait was Sirius blushing? That didn't fit in with a prank…
The slices of cake looked surprisingly decadent for something a three year old supposedly helped bake. James watched Sirius carefully as they moved around the room and set both the boys up with their desserts. They seemed to be avoiding eye contact with James and the blush on their face was getting worse. James looked down at his plate as Sirius set it in front of him. Wait…that's not just cake. Is that…a ring?!
James jerked his head back to look at Sirius with a gasp. Sirius had finally turned to look at him and gave one last glance at Harry, who giggled some more, before they got down on their knee and looked up into James' eyes.
"Daddy you have to say yes!" Harry yelled out between his giggles.
Sirius laughed lightly and turned to Harry. "We have to ask the question first, remember Harry? Can you say what we practiced?"
"Oh! Yeah! Daddy, Padfoot and Teddy and me are all a big family with Mommy and Moony in heaven. And and now, Padfoot wants to marry you like how you and Mommy were married before and Padfoot and Moony were married because Padfoot loves you and me and Teddy so much and we all love Padfoot back!" Harry squirmed around and was practically jumping out of his seat while he talked.
James turned back to Sirius with tears in his eyes and a smile on his face growing so quickly it almost hurt. Sirius was still down on one knee and had grabbed the ring off James' plate while Harry was talking, and they looked back at James with tears streaming down their face.
"Did you practice that with Harry because you knew it would be too hard for you to talk while crying?" James teased Sirius gently. Sirius blushed again and nodded before managing to choke out a single word. "Well?"
"Yes, Sirius, of course I'll marry you." James pulled Sirius to their feet and kissed them soundly before turning to Harry who was cheering loudly. Teddy looked a little confused but happy enough to go along with anything that made his older brother so excited.
"I love you too." Sirius responded softly and drew James in for another kiss.
"Look at our family Sirius. You've given me the happiest family I could ask for. I love you."

Remus Lupin, 2021:
Retired secondary school teacher
Taught literature after getting a degree after Hogwarts
Got fired a few times for his "unorthodox" teaching methods
All of his students over the years loved him
Some of them even go visit him to listen to his stories and his advice
Has a small scar on his forehead from his and Sirius' 1st Pride in '81
It's the one scar he doesn't mind showing
Remained very politically active in muggle politics
Was the kind of teacher that gives his opinion without giving it (nods, raising his eyebrows, satisfied smiles)
So all of his students knew he was a raging leftist (yes remus is a leftist you asses)
Really liked oragnising debates in his classroom
His students always gifted him socks for Christmas
Sirius always brought him flowers on the last day of school and Remus complained that the students liked him better
Wrote a book on new teaching techniques and dynamics
Was the teacher the queer kids came out to
Accidentaly swore in class
Learned to crochet, learned it relieved stress, so Sirius and Jily's kids sport new hats and gloves every winter
Big fan of the Hunger Games after a student recommended it to him
Dedicates a whole week to thoroughly dissecating it in class
Uses magic only at home
The whole week before Halloween, he, Sirius, James, and Peter have a big prank event. Still going strong at 60
Smokes the juul thing and Sirius snobs him because he refuses to smoke anything other than prerolled cigs
"What flavor did you choose today, Moony? Mango? Strawberry shortcake? Pumpkin pastries?" "Fuck off." "Tobacco?"
Before the full moon he and Sirius go on long walks to keep a good shape
Thanks to Lily's work, the transformations aren't as bad as before
He still is a bit sore but that's just his bones getting old
He went full gray at 47 and Sirius teases him constantly
When Sirius gets in a mood he does the cooking
Meaning they eat pasta for two full days
He's the BIGGEST music snob ans refuses to listen to anything that came out after '90
Until he finds Hozier and his little lit nerd heart is full
Can't stand musicals but Lily and Sirius are the biggest Hadestown fans
He really likes TV sitcoms though
His favorite is Parks and Rec because he can make fun of Americans and their govt
(Although he cannot go one day without ranting about the bristish govt and the fuCKING MORNARCHY, PADS)
April 8th and 9th are his favorite days ever
Organized a party for each occasion
Had previously vowed he would outlive Thatcher and Prince Philip
Plans to outlive the queen and Boris Johnson too
"I swear that's the only bloody thing keeping him alive, Prongs."
He and Sirius got married under muggle law on June 12th 2014 in Wales
The only guests were Lily and James and ONLY because they needed witnesses
They live in a cottage in the Welsh countryside
The sea is just an hour away by drive
Remus has an old volkswagen that Sirius hates
(But that's fair because Remus hates Sirius' motorcycles)
The house is messy but it's cozy and Remus loves coming home to his husband
He still wears jumpers all year but finally agrees to take his top off at the beach and at James and Lily's pool
Easter is spent at theirs and for Christmas they go to James and Lily's
But they see each other for tea every weekend
Ever since his retirement he works at the local library
He got one tattoo and it's a small cat just to piss off Sirius
The story behind it is Lily's 40th birthday party where he got proper drunk for the first time in ages
He and Sirius had fought about a plate of broccolis forgotten on the couch
So to get back at him he got a cat tattoo on his forearm
It's small but Sirius didn't talk to him for a week
Now it has been nicknamed "Pissy"
He's the godfather of James and Lily's second kid
Harry's children love their great uncle Moony and their uncle Padfoot
(Sirius refuses to be called "old" in any way shape or form)
Remus really likes the title he wasn't expecting to make it this far

I just really think Remus Lupin is a ballerina okay AU
Remus Lupin has been doing ballet since he was four. He was exuberant and flashy at first, but after his first teacher, Greyback, molested and abused him, he is quiet and reserved. He prefers to dance by himself and does not speak to anyone inside or outside of the class. He wears pink material and is the best dancer in the school, but everyone is more terrified of him than they are jealous. He has sad eyes and soft hair, but prominent scars (both self-inflicted and from Greyback and accidents) cover his freckled skin. He’s a mystery, but no one wants to solve him.
He lives with his roommate and only friend, Severus Snape, who is a writer. He spins out films and novels and poems by the hundreds, especially inspired by the rain. Remus and Severus will often spend rainy days together in their apartment, with Severus typing furiously and scribbling while Remus dances to Hozier and Lana Del Rey off to the side. Sometimes when Remus will have nightmares, Severus will hold him and sing Russian lullabies until he falls asleep. Severus smokes lazily and wears subdued flower and gothic dresses that show off his jutting hips and collar bones. Having escaped an abusive father and a dead mother, he and Remus bond over their shit parents, with Remus’ father being neglectful and his mother kind but catatonic. Their neighbors think they’re witches, but they’re alright with that.
They both have to work to pay the bills, so while Severus works with preschoolers, Remus works as an assistant for a terrifying professor named Grindelwald at the university. He’s a reformed felon who’s always glowering, and there are rumors he’s Dumbledore’s husband, who is Remus’ mysterious ballet teacher with the twinkling eyes. But no one has the guts to ask him - it’s unknown what he was locked up for, and nobody wants to risk that it was irrational homicide. He mostly ignores Remus though, and doesn’t mind if Remus reads or dances while he works, so Remus doesn’t think he’s too bad.
One day Remus is grading some papers for Grindelwald when Lily Evans walks in, a vision in a white floral lace flowing vest and an across-the-shoulders dark blue dress, a brown belt around her waist and matching ankle boots coming up over creme knee-high knit socks, a black hat on her head. There’s a camera around her neck and her smile is beautiful, surrounded by her freckles, and she and Remus hit it off immediately. She asks if he can spare some time to be her model for the day, and he agrees. They’re hanging out in the park and laughing when Severus walks over, having finished work. The moment he and Lily lay eyes on each other, something happens, something magical, and Remus can see it in both of their smiles as they exchange shy hellos.
Lily starts to hang around them, her and Severus teetering on the edge of something. Remus nudges Severus until he’s brave enough to ask her out, and their first date is in the park where they met, sitting on a bench in the rain and watching the birds. Remus is pretty sure they’re gonna get married one day.
To keep himself busy while his two friends fall in love, Remus escapes to the dance school, dancing alone to Lana Del Rey in an empty room when the door creaks open and he hears, “Wow.” He turns around and smiles, taking in the sight of James Potter, an old school friend who left for Julliard and he hasn’t seen in years. James laughs, pulling him into a hug, and Remus lets him, tangling his hands in James’ curls and grinning when James presses a kiss to the corner of his mouth. James tells him he’s been enjoying a gap year before going to search for a job as a back-up dancer for Taylor Swift, to which Remus giggles and tells him he’ll be great. James beams, and pulls Remus along, saying he has to meet James’ best friend-partner-person. Remus agrees, and changes back into his flowing white dress decorated in bees and black flats, tucking spruce leaves in his hair before taking James’ hand and following him out.
At James’ apartment, he calls out, “Babe! I’m home!” Remus watches as Sirius Black comes skidding down the hall, dazzling in a sparkling black croptop with gold touches and a raggedy sheer maroon skirt that falls just above his spiky combat boots. With white and gold dahlias in his hair, he’s the most beautiful thing Remus has ever seen, and he stares as James pecks Sirius on the mouth, coming away with dark red lipstick stains. When Sirius looks up at Remus, his eyes twinkling, and Remus reaches out a hesitant hand, which Sirius takes. “Hi,” he breathes, and Sirius laughs, loud and bright. He leans in and kisses Remus’ cheek. “Hello, beautiful,” he says sweetly, wrapping an arm around Remus’ waist. “James has told me all about you, love.” Remus blushes, unable to stop smiling even as Sirius pulls away at James’ indignant “Oi!” and doesn’t touch him again. Sirius is the love of his life - he doesn’t know how, but it’s something he just somehow knows, the feeling taking root in his chest and sprouting flowers.
Sirius, as it turns out, is James’ roommate and queerplatonic partner. He ran away from his abusive home and is taking commissions as an artist. Mostly he draws wolves, dogs, rats, deers, doves, snakes, and cats. He affectionately calls Remus Moony, insisting his scars look like something were bit him and his eyes are the fierce amber of a wolf’s. Sirius in turn is called Padfoot, for his doglike energy and loving nature, while James is dubbed Prongs for being a dumbass who continually forgets he’s too big to fit in small spaces and gets lost in the woods almost every weekend. Remus never wants to stop hanging out with them, and learns to spend hours shopping at the vintage shop where Sirius works, the two of them falling for each other fast while James reclaims them as his partners in love as in life. And Remus is so, so happy.
While he’s busy falling in love with Sirius, Lily has moved in with him and Severus. Remus doesn’t mind, and tells Severus he’s thinking of making a home with Sirius and James. Severus hugs him and tells him he’s proud of him, suggesting they hang out that day just the two of them, like old times. Remus agrees, and lets Severus take him to the cafe where Lily works. In the corner of the shop is Regulus Black, a boy drenched in hoodies and coats that Remus and Severus buy free food and drinks for. Regulus thanks them profusely, and they all make small talk until Remus makes a comment that Regulus looks like Remus’ boyfriend Sirius, to which Regulus starts crying, explaining that Sirius is his older brother and he’s been trying to find him for years but gave up looking when their shit parents died and Sirius was nowhere to be found at the funeral. Remus offers to take him home, and Severus kisses Remus on the forehead before heading off to find Lily.
On the way there, they stop at the bakery and accept some free cupcakes from Peter Pettigrew, who owns the bakery with his elusive partner. Regulus, as it turns out, is homeless, and has been trying to make it on his busking money alone. But while he’s fairly lovely at singing, it’s not enough to buy anything concrete. As they eat, Regulus also tells Remus about Amir Levis, a librarian who lets him stay at the library. Remus exclaims that he already knows Amir, who helps Remus remember his pills and doctor’s appointments and always has a spare wheelchair and some tea for him just in case. Regulus admits to having a crush on Amir, but he’s too scared to do anything about it. Remus assures him he and Sirius will help him with it, and just like that they’re on their way.
At home, Remus smiles softly at the sight of Sirius and James entwined on the couch and says, “Look who I found.” At the sight of Regulus, Sirius shoves James to the floor in his haste to stand up, taking Regulus’ face in his hands and searching his eyes for answers. “You got out?” He says, breathless. “Really? You’re alright?” Regulus smiles sheepishly. “Of course I did, Siri,” he whispers. “You think I was gonna let you have all the fun?” Sirius tears up and tugs him close, rocking back and forth as the two of them mumble apologies and love confessions into each other’s necks and shoulders and hair. Remus gravitates towards James, kissing him with a smile before pulling him out of the apartment, saying they should leave the brothers alone.
Remus takes the opportunity to introduce James to Severus and Lily, who are immediately taken with him. They offer to watch him for the afternoon while Remus goes to therapy with Maxwell Needles, a counselor with magenta hair who talks to Remus about life, his accident, his trauma, Greyback, his suicidal tendencies, anxiety, PTSD, and depression. Remus also takes the chance to pick up Sirius and James’ ADHD medication, Peter’s OCD prescription, Lily’s bipolar medication, Severus’ schizophrenia suppressors, and a few books on autism (for Severus), Tourette’s (for Lily), and eating disorders (for James and, Remus suspects somehow, Regulus). Max is delighted to see him with so many friends, and says they’ll bring Peter over sometime for dinner. Though he’s not sure where that would happen since he’s torn between two homes right now, Remus agrees with a smile and bids the skater kid in the checkered jeans goodbye.
Back at school, Remus spends his afternoons in conversation with Mcgonogall, the waltz teacher who takes care of him. She’d adopted him when his parents died and he tries to stick around, asking advice about Sirius and James and whether moving in with them is a good idea. Mcgonogall says she thinks it is, and that she knows Sirius is a kind young man. As it is, he calls her Minnie, and knows her as a friend and a grandmother of sorts, since she helped him when he first ran away to James’ house. Remus is content with continuing the conversation but is interrupted by a phone call telling him Sirius, James, and Regulus have been jailed for a fist fight on the street.
Remus goes to pick them up, where he meets Bellatrix Lestrange, an abusive cousin of Sirius and Regulus who took particular joy out of torturing Sirius, who she almost killed once. She’s also been known to abuse children, especially those of the poor. Also in jail are Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, a couple married only in spirit who keep having miscarriages and take their abusive anger out on each other and strangers. Their landlord, Voldemort, had demanded unconventional payments and they’d been essentially enslaved to him for years, only escaping his cultist grasp by means of murder, which is why they’re here now.
Remus sees James holding Regulus close and whispering to him as he kisses the cuts and bruises on his face in the corner of the cell, but says nothing about it, kissing Sirius hello. The four of them go home together, and as soon as Regulus is asleep Remus tells James and Sirius that he wants to make a home with them someday, just not right now. They laugh and smile and tell him they’re ready when he is and that they love him, and Remus thinks, Things are good.

Ok but can we talk about Sirius and Lily's friendship???
Hear me out, I know people usually "group" James and Sirius, and Lily and Remus, which is awesome, I love these friendships but come on... Lily and Sirius would be sooooooooo cute!!!
Of course Sirius would teach Lily how to do her makeup (better)! And they would get ready together and share products and tips.
And Lily is totally a dog person so she'd love to take Padfoot out for walks in the park when he's restless/anxious.
Sirius absolutely borrows Lily's clothes (with or without her permission). He even makes James get her dresses he likes as gifts so he can wear them later.
Sirius and Lily are the best drinking buddies to each other! They're both prone to embarass themselves dancing and falling on their faces, and it's better if they get to do it together.
When Lily finds out she's pregnant she tells Sirius first so she can practice before telling James.
Sirius 100% was Lily's date to Petunia's wedding to capitalize on his ability to piss everyone off (even more than James).

Happy birthday, Lily. Note as to why I’m publishing this and what it means to me under the cut. This is an unpublished portion of Summer of ‘81.
xxxxxx
Two days after she finishes Potter’s snitch, July crashes down on Lily with a screech, a bang, and her own blood-curdling scream.
She’s stopped at the corner, impatiently waiting for her signal. Just as she’s about to bloody risk it and make a dash across, light be damned, Potter and Black pull up, looking smug and smarmy while straddling the motorbike.
Potter winks at her. Ought to be difficult, looking suave while riding pillion, but he manages well enough.
Black revs the engine, in a bid for her attention. When he’s got it, he nods at the road.
Lily immediately shakes her head. She’s fast on her skates, better than anyone she knows, but against a motorbike? Against that motorbike? She’s not completely bloody barking.
But then Sirius teases the throttle again, teasing her, and Potter flaps his arms like a chicken.
Pricks.
She isn’t a chicken. She knows this.
She has nothing to prove to them.
Really.
But when Potter clucks, she flips him her own bird and crouches, calves tensing as if an invisible starting block were behind her.
Both boys lean forward in unison on the bike.
She cheats, tearing down the sidewalk before the light releases them. She laughs at their shouts of fury, skates faster, hair whipping ‘round her face.
Then the motorbike roars, a beast released, and with a squelch of tires on pavement they outstrip her in three seconds. Black pops a wheelie as they ride past; Potter nearly loses his seat, but doesn’t.
Even after they’ve turned the next corner, she doesn’t slow down.
The bike echoes deafeningly against the buildings as the boys loop around the block. As they pass her again, Potter waves jovially. She gives him the finger, but she’s grinning. She would gloat, too, were she in their trainers.
They’re waiting for her at the end of the block. Her legs are shaking, threatening to buckle, but she refuses to give them the satisfaction of doubling over and bracing her hands on her knees, no matter how sharp the stitch in the side pulls.
“Fancy a ride?” Potter asks.
Before she can answer, Black chimes in with, “Wouldn’t normally give filthy cheats a ride, but you’re a bloody mess, Evans.”
“I’m good.”
“You sure?”
She eyes them. “Where would I sit?”
“We’ll make room,” Potter says, grinning like an idiot.
“Your laps?”
“Handlebars.”
“Right. How could I have missed something so obvious?”
The sad thing is, she’s sorely tempted. But she’s got two potions to brew tonight, so—
“No, thanks,” she says, throwing them a two fingered salute.
“Evans,” Potter replies. “You’re skipping a chance to ride on the sexiest thing you’ve ever seen.”
Sirius elbows his best mate in the gut. “Bike’s not bad, either.”
She hopes they write her flush off as exertion rather than embarrassment. When James punches him back, Lily laughs.
She shouldn’t do it.
But the engine revs again—a blood siren call—and Potter’s smirk sharpens, pulls one of her own. The familiar thrum in her veins, adrenaline mixed with recklessness and something else she can’t place.
Old Lily would jump.
“Dammit,” she says, dropping to her arse and tugging at her laces, “give me a ‘mo.”
It takes an embarrassingly long time to pull her skates off, then her socks, which she shoves awkwardly into her skates. When she looks up, Potter’s driving, and Black is standing on the sidewalk. This shouldn’t surprise her—they probably planned this. Still, hesitates for a fraction of a second. Only that, and then she straddles the bike before she changes her mind.
She’s fucking barefoot on a fucking motorbike with James-fucking-Potter.
Old Lily needs a healthy dose of common fucking sense.
She’s glad the still lingering smell of rubber on asphalt masks her stinky feet.
For her safety, Lily tucks her thighs against James Potter’s hips in a pitiful attempt to keep her toes from the scorching exhaust pipes. For her pleasure, she wraps her arms around his waist.
“You know what you’re doing, Potter?” she breathes in his ear.
He shudders. She doesn’t have to see his face to know he’s grinning widely.
“Not a chance in hell, Evans.”
With that vote of confidence, he revs the engine and shoots forward like an arrow down the street.
In hindsight, she’s amazed they lasted three and a half blocks. To Potter’s first credit, it’s not his driving but the cat that does them in.
Technically, it’s her seeing the cat, forgetting about the tattoo she’d just inked onto his bicep, and squeezing to warn him, the blinding pain of which causes him to lose control.
He’s apologetic as fuck. Embarrassed. Terrified, rightly so, that his mate’s going to kill him.
“I think we’re even again, Potter.”
“You grabbed my bicep.”
“You crashed the motorbike.”
“Creative stop with the aid of a few dustbins, Evans.”
“He’s going to kill you,” she says, inspecting the shattered mirror.
“Fuck,” he says, seeing her properly for the first time. “All right?”
She assesses. She’s not hurt. Well, not badly. She felt the pull of a Sticking Charm, so she kept her seat, and a Cushioning Charm prevented real injury. A scraped knee, a burnt ankle from the muffler.
Not bad.
Not great, either.
She can’t fix either of her injuries here, with him. She refuses to get back on the bike, and he won’t leave her there, barefoot, with shards of mirror on the sidewalk after James pulled the motorbike onto the sidewalk.
They settle on piggyback, with more glorious thigh squeezing, though less pleasurable than before, while cheerfully contemplate which method of murder Sirius will employ when he finds out about the bike.
The murderer-to-be meets up with them a block sooner than expected, her skates in hand and a dangerous look on his face.
She whispers “hot oil and feathers, I think” in Potter’s ear. He shudders, and she can’t tell if it’s from adrenaline or the deadly calm in Black’s voice as he says, “Prongs.”
“Padfoot.”
“Black,” she says.
Black ignores her, his eyes fixed on James. “Where is she, Prongs?”
Lily hops off, best not to be in firing range for this. James lets her go automatically, his eyes fixed on Sirius. If she weren’t here, Lily has the distinct impression James would already be tackled, hexed, or perhaps a mixture of the two.
“Prongs—where in the fuck is she.”
“I’m fine, Black,” Lily says, “thank you for asking.”
“Evans, you’re clearly fine or you would’ve killed my best mate here. And thank you for not, because I’ll have the pleasure of doing it unless my motorbike is in the pristine condition I left it in ten minutes ago.”
“Go easy on him, Black. He was trying to impress a girl.”
She picks up her skates by the laces.
“You going to be alright, Lily?” Potter asks.
“Nothing I can’t fix at home,” she says, stepping on the ball of her foot to keep from showing him the heel.
“Ta, boys. Thanks for the…er….thanks. I think.”
“’Night, Evans.”
“Good luck, Potter.”
She giggles, fucking giggles, as James goes in a flat run. Even limping, which she hadn’t noticed before, he’s faster than Black. Lily waits until they’re around the corner, then starts for home, skates in hand. Yes, it will take her hours to brew some salves for her burn, but perhaps old Lily wasn’t completely daft after all.

Today I naysayed the idea of taking a walk, and then I remembered that old Lindsey--healthy Lindsey--never let something like the weather stop her from a good hike. Even if I can’t hike because health, I can go immerse myself in nature because I know it fulfills me. So I put on jeans and a sweater and my rain coat, drove the 20 mins to my favorite park, walked the half mile to my favorite bench and listened to the rain for forty minutes. Half froze to death, but it was great. Now I’m sat drinking tea and trying to warm up when I remembered this unpublished bit of “Summer of ‘81.” I have loads of unpublished fic and I think, if I do share them in the future, it will be in instances like this. This little piece of Lily—traumatized, disconnected, at a low point—that I wrote three years ago reminded me of myself today. We can make choices that honor our past selves even if we can’t go back and be that person. And that’s how we move forward, one oddball choice at a time. And as I published this, I realized it was her fictional birthday. So! Here you go.

park meeting, part 2. (muggle au)
Here’s part 1
The play date went fantastic; Marlene and Hazel were already at the park when Sirius arrived with Harry. The kid played with the dog the whole time and the other two had a really nice chat.
She told him about her work as a therapist and as a Psychology Professor in a prestigious university while Sirius told her about his fantasies of becoming a full time musician, but for now he was rather happy as a music teacher. He also mentioned that he used to be in band and that he played the bass, but when Harry’s parents died, he had to quit so he could take care of him.
Using his godson as an excuse, Sirius bought her ice-cream and walked her and Hazel home with Harry over his shoulders. Admittedly, he didn’t want the date to end, but all good things must come to an end. He was so startled when she kissed him so painfully near his lips that forgot to ask her number. However, he knew where she lived and, most important, he also knew that she went to the park every day.
“Don’t you think you are a little obsessed with her, mate?” Remus asked teasingly after taking a sip of his beer while lifting Harry with his leg playfully as he tried to climb it. Sirius hadn’t stopped talking about this girl for days now; he was getting not only repetitive, but bloody annoying too.
Sirius rolled his eyes; he wasn’t obsessed, he was just worried. Ever since the play date, Marlene hadn’t showed up to the park like she said she would:
“Yeah, I come here almost every day, I love this park and so does Hazel… don’t be surprised if you find us here, we kind of VIP members by now”
“I’m not obsessed, idiot, I think something happened… I went there almost every day and haven’t seen her, it’s been two weeks now” Sirius explained.
“Why don’t you call her?” Remus asked arching an eyebrow, it was kind of funny and definitely strange seeing Sirius worrying this much about a girl. He lifted his leg again, Harry giggling happily on top of it, and then put him down.
“I told you, I didn’t get her number” Sirius groaned exasperated and then ran his fingers through his hair with frustration. “I even went to her place once but didn’t know which apartment was hers” he sighed.
“And yet, you’re not obsessing over her” Remus pointed out sarcastically, picking Harry up and placing him over his lap. “I think uncle Padfoot is in love, mate” he smirked.
“What? Don’t be ridiculous, Moony, I’m just worried” Sirius replied, shaking his head fervently. He leaned back on the couch and sighed, maybe he was overreacting and she was just busy. However, he couldn’t stop thinking about her… what the hell was wrong with him?
Harry crawled across the sofa, grabbed Prongs and started playing with him. Both Sirius and Remus stared at him with a sad smile, he looked just like James. Except his eyes, he had Lily’s green eyes. In a matter of seconds, the toddler was fast asleep hugging his favorite stuffed animal.
“I need you to do me a favor” Sirius said after a while.
“Why do I have the feeling that is something mental?” Remus sighed, rubbing his face with both hands.
“Come on, mate!” he smirked. “Mental is what I did for you last year… remember that lovely bird you shagged on Peter’s birthday?” he pointed knowingly.
“You shagged her friend, how could that be mental?” He rolled his eyes while shaking his head in disbelief.
“She was a 6, Moony… you know my standards” Sirius replied simply. “Besides, I’m only asking you to go to the park tomorrow with Harry and see if she’s there… I’ve humiliated myself enough”
“Okay, first of all your standards are questionable to say the least. And second, I doubt a psychology professor would approve that way of referring to women… or people in general” he said knowingly. “Besides, I don’t even know how she looks like, how am I supposed to find her, anyways?”
Sirius rolled his eyes, he just wanted to see her again, what’s wrong with that? “Harry knows her, and she’ll be with a bernese mountain dog … oh and she has blonde hair and blue eyes; she’s gorgeous you shouldn’t have any problem on recognizing her” he said simply.
Remus rolled his eyes. “Fine, whatever”, he was only doing it because he was really curious about this mysterious girl.
-------
“I swear mate, he was just here… how the hell does he manage to escape with those tiny legs? I’m looking for him, okay? Yeah, I know, he couldn’t have gone that far… wait you’re coming? Bloody hell, Padfoot, I’m going to find him, there’s no need… there he is, for Christ’s sake!” Remus hung up and ran towards Harry.
“Why is it that we always meet like this, Harry?” Marlene smiled tiredly as she lifted him up and kissed his cheek. “Let’s go and find Sirius, okay?” she asked with her heart beating with excitement.
The toddler giggled happily, “Hazel?”
The dog barked and Marlene placed Harry on the ground, allowing the kid to pet her. She looked around trying to find Sirius, but he was nowhere to be seen. However, after a few moments, another man approached to them.
“Harry, mate, you can’t run away like that” Remus sighed heavily.
“Moony!” Harry giggled and then pointed at the dog, grinning happily. “Hazel!” he beamed joyfully.
“Well… if it helps, you’re not the first one” Marlene commented, smiling politely yet a bit disappointed to see that he wasn’t Sirius. “I’m Marlene, you must be Remus, am I right?” she asked, holding out her hand.
He blinked surprised and then realized she was the girl. Sirius was right, she was quite beautiful, and definitely his type. Remus nodded and smiled, “I can see Sirius told you about me”.
“Yeah, he did… but only good things, don’t worry” she teased and looked at Harry who was playing happily with Hazel. “Anyway, it’s nice to meet you, Remus” Marlene smiled tiredly.
The past two weeks had been a living hell: first, she had the flu and had to be in bed for, at least, five days but stayed only three because she started treating a new patient that required the 150% of her attention because he had a severe depression. If that wasn’t more than enough, she had tons of papers to correct.
“Is nice to meet you too… Sir- Harry hasn’t stopped talking about you” he commented, wondering if Sirius was on his way or not.
“Oh, he is a really sweet boy” she smiled. Remus seemed like a very nice guy, but she was exhausted and needed to get some sleep.
“There you are, mate!” Sirius arrived, panting heavily with both hands placed on his thighs as he tried to catch his breath. “We should try putting on a collar next time, little devil runs away every fucking time” he muttered in between taking deep breaths. He stood up straight and blinked with surprise, noticing the blonde therapist right there. “Well, hello stranger” he smirked.
Marlene’s lips curved into a wide smile and her heart started racing. “Hey, you” she mumbled and placed both hands on her back pockets.
“It’s been a long time” Sirius said with a mixture of reproach but also relieved to see that she was okay.
Remus’ eyebrows arched and had a hard time trying not to laugh; he was this close to making a scene. He smirked slightly, thinking on how he was going to tease him relentlessly for the next couple of days.
“I know… it’s been a tough couple of weeks. I had the flu, and then the papers to correct and my patients and… oh shit, I forgot” she gasped and took out her phone: her patient hadn’t called her yet. A sigh of relief escaped her lips. “Look, I have to go… why don’t I give you my number and we can hang out sometime?” she suggested, looking at Sirius.
“Sure” Sirius grinned and dialed his number on her mobile and called himself; when his phone started vibrating he hung up.
“I’m so sorry, I really have to go” she sighed before whistling softly. “Hazel, come on… it was really nice meeting you, Remus” she said and then looked at Sirius. “Call me” she muttered with a slight smirk and then, after checking that Remus’ eyes were focused on the kid and not on them, she pecked his lips briefly but intensely. Marlene bit her lower lip teasingly and then look at the toddler. “Bye Harry, I’ll see you soon” after saying that, she started running away with Hazel trailing behind her.
“Oh…It’s been so long” Remus teased him before bursting into laughter and, of course, earning a light shove. “Oi, no need for that” he complained and looked at his friend who was writing something on his phone. Curiously, he saw the screen and read:
DINNER TOMORROW 8:30, BLONDIE.
