Their apartment is small. But it’s cozy and, honestly, they don’t need more. They’re on the second floor and when you come into theres the kitchen to your left and to your right there’s a little door in the wall to a sort of storrage room and next to it the entrance to the living room. Up ahead are two doors to the bedroom and the office. In between there’s the toilet and the bathroom. The hallway has a wooden drawer with a mirror above and the living room and the bedroom are connected by a little balcony with a door on each end.
Albert got to furnish it all. They agreed he has the best taste. Basically, Spot keeps it clean, Al keeps it pretty and Race keeps it existing.
The living room is cozy. Its small and full of pillows. And stuff. Next to the entry a the dinnertable is set into the room with the short side at the wall. They barely use it because its allways full of paperwork. Race’s paperwork because he’s the one who handles their finances since he’s the only one who’s sort of good with maths. It usually has a pink rose in a vase on it. They have a tiny, blue couch that barely fits a person, a cozy corner with one of those hanging thingys and a little wooden rustical table which is where they eat instead. Theres a lot of fairylights and hanging plants in that room. Spots electric guitar is in the corner that he doesn’t even know how to play. Its white. They have a little liquor cabinet with fancy glasses and a carafe. However they mostly use it for cofee and stuff. The second part is full of discs for the recordplayer thats on a little white chair on the opposite of the room. Speaking of chairs; they are very mismatched. Race uses a barstool, Albert has an office chair and Spot has a folding chair. They also have a hamburger “pillow” for Race and an armchair that only Spot is allowed to use. Albert has a beanbag. Theres also a little yellow pillow chair in the corner. A lamp stands next to the sofa and there’s a cat-tree behind it. They also have a little birdcage hanging around there but it’s always open so the bird can fly out whenever it wants. It’s not actually their bird but it flew in there one day and completely freaked then out. It took them a while to get it back out and it just showed up on their balcony again the next day. It kept coming back and they’ve grown quite fond of it. The cat and the dig get along with it too. They call it tweety because they don’t own a single creative cell in their body. They have a lot of candles and the three bigger christals that don’t fot in the shelf are on the windowsill, the dinnertable and the drawer that the TV stands on. Above the TV theres a little ikea shelf with another plant on top. Thats also where the rest of Racer’s christal-collection is. A little salt lamp accenting it. On top of the shelf there’s each of their childhood stuffed animal: Race had a simple teddy bear, Alberts was a bunny and Spot had a little spotted dog. Albert also has his guitar on the wall here.
Their kitchen is something else. Spots coffee machine is his whole pride and joy and its also the only place in there thats sort if clean around. You can barely move in there and no one knows how they find stuff in there, but they somehow do. Davey fainted the first time he saw it. That place is fucking loaded. With the most random stuff too. And when i say random i mean random. Most of they stuff they don’t even know where they got it from or, honestly, that they even have. That may or may not be related to the fact that half of it isn’t even theirs. It sort of replaces a storage room. Dont get me wrong; they have a storage room. Right next to their door to be exactly. But they also have a kitchen so theres that. They have two refrigerators for whatever reason. Both are always either so full they barely close or empty to the last crumb. The only thing thats never missing is grapes. They love grapes. And they always have grapes at all costs. Their toaster is really fancy and their microwave is one of those that looks like an old TV. They have a sort of concerning mug collection. Albert is only allowed to use the kitchen when they’re having chilli and Race is banned completely. It took them two years of procrastinating to clean it until they cave up and just accepted that this is just how it is. They have one of those old stoves that works with gas and actual flames.
They haven’t even installed a lamb in their office. Its just a single light bulb. They have a wall with fairy lights and photos, polaroids and memories. On another walk the have their future plans; a world map with all the cities they wanna travel to ine day and a globus on the drawer at that wall with little flags on it, possible baby-names, designs for a house to move in, rings they would want should Poly-Marrige become legal one day and hotels to stay at for their next vaccination. Their office is also where the rats live, the cat and the dog also each have their bed there and the cat has another (bigger) cat-tree.
Their bedroom is a bit more modern compared to the livingroom. At the corner to the window they have a little piano with a little soft chair. Albert loves watching Race and/or Spot play. Above the piano is another shelf with one part full of perfumes, bodysprays and Deodorants. Underneath is a big canvas of a coffee bean and the dresser next to it. The bed is opposite that wall; the far wall to the door on the windows side. Two nightstands that you may or may jot find their three champagne classes on in the morning infront theres a ting white polstererd bank. Above the bed is an LED sign reading “sex” in plain letters, they generally have a lot of led’s. A standing shelf parts their bed from a little sofa sort of thing thats right opposite the door. They have a hanging chair and some more beanbags and pillowchairs in there. The wall that’s on the end to the office has a mirror and a little table for them to get ready. Between the piano and the bed, under the window theres the cats bed and Alberts longboard hangs above the couch like a trophy. The room has a lot of plants because let me tell you, three men sleeping in one room starts to smell fast. They also have a little wooden table with a single candle on it that they never lit once because its really fancy. That table also has lights in it as to make the rustical look maych the rest if the room.
The balcony is small, even smaller than the bathroom. Its full of fairylights and they somehow made it into a little lounge. There’s another place for tweety to sit and kets be honest, Race probably hang up a “Jazz Cafe” sign. It’s perfect to view mannhattan and the brooklyn bridge.

CIVIC — New Vietnam & Singles (ATO)
Where to start with CIVIC? The Melbourne fivesome made its inroads outside Australia early in 2023 with a second album, Taken by Force. Produced by Rob Younger of Radio Birdman and, not coincidentally, brought out the band’s hard proto-punk surf sound in a clean, clear way. Yet if you want to really understand the primitive force of this hard-knocking, straight-up rock ‘n roll band, maybe you go back to the beginning, round about 2018, when, fresh out of the woodshed, they produced New Vietnam, their earliest EP, and a string of singles.
This reissue from ATO is the first look for most of us at CIVIC’s undiluted Aussie punk fury. Rough throated Jim McCullough is a dead ringer for the Saints’ Chris Bailey in battering proto-punk assaults like “New Vietnam” and doomed romantic epics like “Street Machine Dream.” That original line-up had only one guitarist, but Lewis Hodgson takes up space for two or three, ratcheting up tension with tight, fast, disciplined strumming, then blowing it up with unhinged solos. Gutty bass cadences anchor the chaos—that’s Roland Hvlaka holding down the maelstrom in “Call the Doctor” and the drums bang hard, without frills, brutal but never boring.
This reissue splits right down the middle, the first seven tracks from the debut EP, the backside an assortment of roughly contemporary material, including four from the later-in-2018 EP Those Who Know, two from the Selling, Sucking, Blackmail, Bribes single and one live version of “New Vietnam” recorded for PBS in 2018. Thirteen of the tracks are originals; the lone cover is a faithful but wall-shaking take of Brian Eno’s “Needle in the Camel’s Eye.”
This earlier material is both heavy and fast. You don’t think of sludge going this hard, but here on cuts like “Nuclear Son” and, especially, “New Vietnam,” the band pursues punk speed through a hard rock murk, held together by relentless drumming and sheer force of will. These couple of tracks are, perhaps, the most Stooge-like of the bunch, but a Motor City diesel haze hangs over the whole endeavor.
Birdman is another clear influence, especially on “Satellites,” with its clear, flaring guitars and arena-sized, not-quite-sung rhythmic chants. “What a time to be alive,” indeed. And the palm-muted, wrecked lyricism of “Street Machine Dream” taps directly into the Saints at their most epic, “This Perfect Day,” for one.
You can hear this band taking shape even within the limited time frame that this disc covers. “Flick the Station,” recorded about six months after “New Vietnam” operates on a larger scale than the debut EP, with gigantic power chords and serrated anthemic hooks. “Heat” wallops just as hard but with more melody than the earlier material. Signs of softness? Hardly. “Selling, Sucking, Blackmail, Bribes” howls and crashes and makes no compromises. And the live version of “New Vietnam,” again six months out from the debut, goes right up to off-the-rails but pulls it off, blur speed and unhinged.
No question that CIVIC’s latest album Taken by Force is cleaner and clearer, with a stronger dose of surf rock thrown into a volatile punk-and-hard-rock mix. But these early songs are rough-crusted gems, the fire glinting out of corrosive settings.

Sliding into a new body was like putting on a brand new coat, if the coat weighed a buck-fifty and had its own muscle memory and fought against being worn. So not very much like putting on a coat at all, but Harlow Beck had been doing this–inhabiting scraped bodies–for so long now that it might as well have been the same. Step one: squash the repulsion the body experienced when it realized Beck wasn't its real self. Step two: extend her own control all the way down to pinky fingers and little toes, if the body was lucky enough to still have them all. Step three: make the body's muscle memory Beck's muscle memory, so she wasn't surprised when her new feet knew which stair squeaked and her new hands opened a door that otherwise stuck.
It was easy now that she'd done it a few dozen times.
This body was new, recently scraped. Maybe its old self was being prepped for bodiless stasis. Even though Beck was an old hand at this now, reentering stasis was like being submerged deep in the ocean–dark, heavy, suffocating. She recovered quickly, but those first few moments were never fun. The more likely scenario for the body's consciousness, though, was that it had been popped into a temp machine and interrogated until the disc the consciousness was on wore thin. People didn't get scraped and slotted for being good people.
It was a young man, thirty at the very oldest, with knobby limbs and sharp ribs and pale, lank hair; bloodshot eyes and patchy facial hair greeted Beck when she looked in the mirror. Whoever had been in charge of the body hadn't cared for it properly; even freshly scraped bodies were given a month or so to flush out any narcotics and alcohol, so while the body looked like it had been through the ringer, the most likely explanation was that its caretaker was slacking off. Even its mouth was dry. How hard was it to remind a nonautonomous body to drink water?
Luckily, the tiny room Beck woke up in had an even tinier en suite bathroom that was well stocked. She took off the paper gown she'd woken up in and crumpled it up and tossed it in the bin. A funny little piece of modesty the higher-ups insisted on, as if this wasn't Beck's body until they decided she was done with it, and if they didn't want her to stink or her kidneys to fail she was going to see it all eventually. The body had a single tattoo, a big flower under the left pectoral, warped slightly by the way its ribs stuck out. Body hair dark and sparse. Narrow hips, knobby knees, ten toes. Nothing unexpected, like third nipples or a hemipene.
Beck inhaled and exhaled deeply. It felt good to breathe again. It felt good to scratch an itch on the body's stomach, to raise its hands up into the air and stretch its arms. Her arms, now. That was always difficult to get used to, thinking of every new body as herself. She could scarcely remember what her original body was like.
The shower was an automatic, sprayed her with lukewarm water as soon as she stepped in and made her jump. Beck cranked the temperature up until it scalded, then down just a little. Her new skin was already turning pink. She took the bottle of 3-in-1 shampoo off the tiny shelf–spare no expense–and let the body get to work. Cleaning itself was an easy way to see how much of the body's muscle memory still functioned, and it meant Beck could let her mind–herself, really, wander. Wonder. The body lathered shampoo into its hair and scratched sharp nails into its scalp. Patted a rag gently over the flower, even if it wasn't newly tender anymore. Did the flower mean something? It had long, thin, colorless petals–a lily, maybe, but Beck didn't know a lot about flowers. She'd grown up on a station, middeck; decorative vegetation had been hard to come by.
Where she was now wasn't much better than a station: a ship in some planet's thermosphere, belonging to either a company with no finances or run by a cheapskate, with the way the dodgy gravity drive made Beck's stomach swoop every once in a while and the water hitting the tile under her feet bounced back up and floated for a second or so before splashing back down. Not to mention the barebones accommodations–not that Beck planned to stay long once debriefed, but a cup of coffee or even strong tea would've been nice to wake up to. Her mouth tasted like paper.
She let the body finish up, and when its routine stopped at getting out of the shower, she made it go back to the sink and shave and rinse its face. It took initiative again to brush its teeth with a hard-bristle brush and tasteless paste, and when it was done it lowered its chin and looked into the mirror with its big, doleful eyes. Its roots were showing. Beck almost laughed–that was as clear a request as anything.
"Sure, sure," she said, pulling its–her head back up to make sure she hadn't missed a spot shaving. Her new voice was soft, huskier than she'd imagined, a little put-on like it'd been made that way out of practice and was now a habit. Her real voice, the one that belonged to Harlow Beck only, that she thought in and carried with her through every slot and stasis cycle, was by comparison orative, though not much higher in pitch. It would still take some getting used to.
Back in the tiny bedroom, someone had come in during her shower and laid out clothes on the bed. A simple outfit: sleeveless undershirt, matching powder-blue sweatshirt and pants, briefs, crew socks and slippers. They were much softer than she expected, and there was a little emblem stitched just above the hem of the sweatshirt: three upside down triangles, one inside the next. Beck didn't recognize it; likely it was the symbol of whoever her current employer was. Right as she pulled on the second slipper, the room's only other door slid open with a crisp ssst sound.
The first thing Beck noticed about the person who entered was how purely red their suit was, not crimson or ruby or wine, just #FFOOOO red. The second thing was that their triple-triangle insignia was part of the suit jacket's design rather than just a small emblem; the bold, horizontal line of the outermost triangle made their shoulders look broader, and the inner triangles were double lapels. The third thing was the rest of their appearance: round face, small eyes and ears, flat nose. A cloud of black, curly hair. Warm brown skin and a constellation of freckles. When they smiled, it deepened their crow's feet.
"Good evening," they said. Their voice was a little nasally but not unpleasantly so. "My name is Devin Shrike. I'll be your handler while you're cooperating with the Blue Skies For All Campaign."
Suit's a little red for that, isn't it?
"It's nice to meet you," said Beck, and shook Shrike's hand when it was offered. A common enough greeting–some people wanted her to bow or kneel or tap her forehead three times, but those were rarer every time she slotted.
"Is there anything I can do to help you acclimate?" Shrike asked, and Beck immediately pointed at her own hair, the smudge of black above the bleach.
"Cut and color, please," she answered. It was best to be polite with handlers; even ones that started out nice could get real mean when results didn't spring up fast enough for their employer. "Oh, and something to drink, too, please. My mouth feels like sand."
"Of course." The lines at the corners of Shrike's eyes deepened further. "Would you like to come with me? I can show you the ship on the way."
Beck didn't see much point to that. Once her hair was fixed and she had a drink, she'd go right to debriefing, and from there she'd hop into a pod and get dropped out of the ship's belly like a bird laying an egg. She'd be planetside in minutes, and then work started for real. She said, "Sure," to be polite.

A Review of Trainspotting (1996)
A nuanced dark comedy/coming of age/addiction movie exploring what it's like to be young and so reluctant to grow up when the idea of adulthood serves little joy. The movie opens with Mark's speech: "Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers...Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?". The opening monologue has become identifiably iconic as it shows the character's nihilistic outlook on life, a key ingredient in the massive success of the film.
In a way, Mark represents every single teenager, angry and hopeless about the future awaiting them. This is even more relatable in the 21st century world of raising house prices, little jobs, climate change etc. So Mark, is the version of every pissed off teenager who wishes they could say "fuck it" and utterly destroy their lives (because what's the reason not to anyway?). Regardless, I found myself wishing the best for him, wanting him to stay clean, leave the world he knows and find joy elsewhere. It was so frustrating every time he picked up the needle again.
The movie itself can be hard to watch at times, including several bloody scenes, a dead baby, and so many scenes of needles (hard to watch if you're scared of them). But, the mega humour, the british-garage music reminiscent of other coked-up teenage movies, and the broken but beautiful boys, leaves this movie stuck in your head, to the point where you start a tumblr blog to rant about it from your room. I'm not a film critic, but this easily gets a five from me.

How to Polish Your Marble Floors like a Pro in Gurgaon
Marble floors add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any space. However, maintaining their sheen and luster requires regular care and attention. In Gurgaon, with its mix of urban lifestyle and varying climate conditions, marble floors are prone to accumulating dust, scratches, and stains. If you’re wondering how to polish your marble floors like a pro, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you out.
1. Understand Your Marble Type
Marble comes in various types, such as Carrara, Calacatta, and Indian marble. Each has unique characteristics and care requirements. Before you start polishing, identify the type of marble in your home. This helps in choosing the right cleaning agents and methods to ensure optimal results.
2. Gather the Right Tools and Materials
To polish marble floors effectively, you’ll need the following:
A pH-neutral marble cleaner
Microfiber cloths or mops
A polishing powder or compound designed for marble
A single-disc floor polishing machine (optional for professional-grade results)
Marble sealer for long-term protection
Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the marble surface.
3. Clean the Surface Thoroughly
Start by removing all dust and debris from the marble floor using a soft broom or vacuum cleaner. Next, mop the floor with a pH-neutral marble cleaner diluted in water. This removes any surface grime and prepares the floor for polishing. Allow the floor to dry completely before proceeding.
4. Polish the Marble
For small areas or light polishing, sprinkle marble polishing powder on the surface and buff it using a damp microfiber cloth in circular motions. This helps restore the shine and remove minor scratches.
For larger areas or professional results, consider renting a single-disc floor polishing machine. Use the machine with a suitable marble polishing pad and compound. Work in sections and ensure consistent pressure to achieve an even finish.
5. Rinse and Buff
After polishing, rinse the floor with clean water to remove any residue from the polishing powder or compound. Dry the surface with a clean microfiber cloth and buff it to enhance the shine further.
6. Apply a Marble Sealer
To maintain the polished look and protect your marble from future stains, apply a high-quality marble sealer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application. Sealing is particularly important in Gurgaon’s humid climate, where marble can absorb moisture and stains more easily.
7. Regular Maintenance Tips
Daily Cleaning: Use a soft, damp mop to clean the floors and prevent dust accumulation.
Avoid Spills: Wipe up spills immediately to prevent staining, especially from acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar.
Place Mats: Use mats or rugs at entrances and high-traffic areas to minimize wear and tear.
Professional Services in Gurgaon
If you’re short on time or lack the necessary equipment, consider hiring professional marble polishing in gurgaon. These experts use advanced techniques like diamond polishing and crystallization to restore your marble’s natural brilliance.
Conclusion
Polishing marble floors doesn’t have to be daunting. With the right tools, techniques, and a little effort, you can keep your marble floors looking as good as new. Whether you opt for DIY polishing or professional services, regular maintenance will ensure your marble floors remain a stunning feature of your home in Gurgaon.

How Gold Coins Are Minted: The Process Behind Your Investment
Gold coins have long been a staple of the precious metals market, with their appeal to both investors and collectors alike. But have you ever wondered how these shiny coins are made? The minting process for gold coins is a precise and fascinating procedure that combines artistry, technology, and metallurgy. In this post, we will take a look at how gold coins are created, from the initial design phase to the final striking of the coin.
1. Design Phase: Crafting the Image
The creation of a gold coin begins with the design. This is where artistry meets functionality, as the coin’s design needs to represent both the country’s history or culture and the value of the coin. In the case of bullion coins, such as the American Gold Eagle or the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf, the design may also reflect national symbols or historical figures. For numismatic or commemorative coins, the design can be more elaborate, often commemorating significant events or people.
The design process typically begins with an artist or engraver who creates detailed drawings of the proposed design. These drawings are then scaled to the appropriate size for the coin. In some cases, these designs are made digitally, using advanced software, while others may still rely on hand-drawn sketches. Once the design is approved, it’s time to move on to the next stage: engraving.
2. Engraving the Master Die
Once the design is finalized, it is transferred to a master die. The master die is an essential tool used in the minting process, as it is the template that will imprint the design onto the gold coin. This process is done by hand or using advanced machinery, depending on the mint’s technology.
Historically, master dies were engraved by hand, a meticulous and skilled process. However, today, many mints use laser engraving or computer-controlled machines to carve the design into the die. The master die is usually made from a durable material, such as steel, and is polished to a high shine before the design is etched into it. This ensures that the image on the coin will be crisp and detailed when struck.
Once the master die is complete, it is used to create working dies. Working dies are used in the actual coin production process, while the master die is typically preserved as a reference or for creating additional working dies in the future.
3. Preparing the Gold Blank
The next step in the coin minting process is preparing the gold that will be used to make the coins. The gold used in coin minting is typically refined to a high degree of purity, often 99.99% pure, to ensure that the final product meets industry standards. Gold can come in various forms, including bars or pellets, and is melted down in a furnace to prepare it for shaping.
Once the gold has been melted, it is formed into thin, flat sheets or discs known as “blanks.” These blanks are carefully cut to the size and weight specifications required for the particular coin being minted. For example, a 1-ounce gold coin will have a specific diameter and thickness to ensure that it contains exactly one ounce of pure gold. These blanks are then cleaned and inspected to ensure they meet the required quality standards before moving on to the next stage.
4. Striking the Coin
The striking process is where the design of the coin is transferred from the working die to the gold blank. This is done using a coining press, which applies extreme pressure to the blank to imprint the design. The blank is placed between two dies—the obverse die (which contains the front design) and the reverse die (which contains the back design)—and the press strikes the coin, transferring the design from the dies onto the gold.
The coining press can exert thousands of tons of pressure to ensure that the design is deeply imprinted on the coin. In some cases, coins are struck multiple times to ensure that the design is crisp and clear. This process can take place in a single or multiple strikes, depending on the level of detail required for the design.
Once the coin has been struck, it is carefully inspected for any imperfections or defects. Any coins that do not meet quality standards are discarded or melted down and recycled.
5. Finishing and Packaging
After the coin has been struck, it goes through a final finishing process. This may involve polishing or adding a protective coating to enhance the coin’s appearance and durability. For bullion coins, this step is typically minimal, as the focus is on the purity of the gold. However, for numismatic coins or commemorative coins, additional finishing techniques may be used to give the coin a mirror-like shine or to highlight certain features of the design.
Once the coins have been finished, they are packaged in protective capsules or cases to prevent damage during storage or transport. Some mints also provide certificates of authenticity to confirm the coin’s weight, purity, and origin.
6. The Role of Technology in Modern Coin Minting
While the traditional methods of coin minting have remained largely unchanged, modern technology has greatly improved the efficiency and precision of the process. For example, many mints now use automated systems to monitor the weight, size, and quality of the coins during the production process. This helps ensure that every coin is up to standard and reduces the risk of human error.
Additionally, laser engraving and computer-controlled machinery have made it possible to create more intricate designs with greater precision. These technologies have also made it easier to replicate designs and produce coins in larger quantities, making gold coin production more efficient and cost-effective.
7. Types of Gold Coins and Their Minting Process
There are several types of gold coins that are minted for different purposes. The two main categories are:
Bullion Coins: These coins are produced primarily for investment purposes and contain a high percentage of pure gold. They are often mass-produced and feature simple designs, such as national symbols or figures. Examples include the American Gold Eagle and the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf.
Numismatic Coins: These coins are produced for collectors and often feature more intricate designs and limited mintages. They may be minted in various sizes and can include coins that commemorate significant events or historical figures. The production of numismatic coins typically involves more complex designs and a higher level of craftsmanship.
Conclusion
The process of minting gold coins is a fascinating blend of art, science, and precision. From the initial design phase to the final striking of the coin, each step requires skill and attention to detail. The result is a product that not only holds value in terms of its gold content but also represents the craftsmanship and tradition of coin minting. Whether you’re purchasing gold coins for investment purposes or as a collector, understanding the process behind their creation can deepen your appreciation for these valuable assets. Exploring the Versatility and Power of Tyrolit Concrete Grinders
The Essential Tool for Concrete Preparation
A concrete grinder is an indispensable tool when preparing concrete surfaces for new construction or renovations. These machines are designed to smooth rough surfaces, remove paint, tile glue, thin sets, adhesives, and even out floors. Tyrolit offers a comprehensive range of concrete grinders for various applications, from residential projects to large commercial undertakings. This blog delves into how these machines work, their applications, and why they are a crucial tool for anyone working with concrete.
What Is a Concrete Grinder?
A concrete grinder is a robust tool for performing various tasks, such as levelling, cleaning, and polishing concrete surfaces. It uses rotating discs embedded with abrasive materials to grind concrete to the desired smoothness. Tyrolit’s concrete grinders, like the FGE280, are perfect for smaller residential jobs, providing precision and ease of use.
Understanding How Concrete Grinders Work
The effectiveness of a concrete grinder lies in its design and operation. Tyrolit machines use planetary rotating plates to perform various grinding tasks. Equipped with different segments or diamond tooling, grinders can remove up to a few millimetres of concrete in a single pass, depending on the model and setup. The heavier the machine and the more aggressive the tooling, the deeper it can grind.
For those tackling more extensive areas or needing to prepare edges more comfortably, the FGE331 makes it easier to do long edges without getting on your hands and knees, traditionally done with an angle grinder. This machine is especially useful for its versatility and ergonomic design.
Can Concrete Grinders Be Used on Different Materials?
While primarily designed for concrete, these grinders can be used on other materials like asphalt (although this is very rare). However, using the right type of abrasive for asphalt is important to avoid damaging the equipment. Additionally, while you can use an angle grinder for concrete, smaller areas and tougher jobs call for a more powerful machine like the FGE400, a single-head, three-phase grinder ideal for all concrete preparation tasks.
Applications of Concrete Grinders
Concrete grinders are versatile enough to address various tasks:
Removing Tile Glue and Paint: Specific models are equipped with tooling to strip away old paint and tile glue without damaging the underlying concrete.
Levelling Floors: Grinders can level out inconsistencies and prepare the base for projects that require a perfectly flat surface, such as before installing new flooring.
Removing Thinset and Adhesive: Grinders efficiently scrape away remaining adhesives after tile removal, preparing the surface for new material.
How to Operate a Tyrolit Concrete Grinder
Operating a Tyrolit concrete grinder involves several steps to ensure safety and effectiveness:
Choose the correct diamond tooling based on the specific application and material hardness.
Set up the machine, ensuring all components are securely attached.
Begin grinding the surface and moving the machine in smooth, overlapping passes to ensure even coverage.
For dust management, which is especially important in maintaining a clean work environment and reducing airborne particles, use a concrete grinder with a built-in vacuum like Tyrolit’s models linked with dust extractors.
The Best Concrete Grinder for Your Needs
Choosing the best concrete grinder depends on the size of the job and the specific tasks required. Tyrolit’s range of concrete grinders offers something for every scenario, from handheld units for small spaces to powerful floor grinders for large areas. While Tyrolit does not offer rentals, purchasing a dedicated machine ensures you have a reliable tool that is always available whenever needed.

The Benefits of Stump Grinding
Stump Grinding is a process that reduces tree stumps and their surrounding roots to a size where they can be removed by hand or used for mulch. This service is necessary for a number of reasons, some of which include: Stumps that remain from dead trees aren’t just unsightly, but they can also be hazardous to anyone who walks by them. They’re also the perfect home for a number of insects including termites, carpenter ants and wood bees. The best way to get rid of these pests and protect your property is to have a professional stump grinder remove the entire stump and root system. A stump grinder is a powerful machine with a rotating cutting disc that chips away at the wood of the tree stumps and the surrounding roots. They’re usually attached to a tractor or other powered vehicle and cut down the stumps to below ground level, making them easier to remove than removing them by hand. A good stump grinder will also leave behind a large amount of wood chips which can be used as green mulch in flower beds and other parts of the yard, or even poured back into the hole where the stump was ground out and allowed to decay naturally. There are a number of different types of stump grinders available on the market, each with its own unique specifications and capabilities. For example, some have an angled or tilting steering wheel that allows the operator to position the wheel to match their natural wrist angle, reducing stress on the joints when operating the machine over extended periods of time. Others have adjustable seating to allow the operator to fine-tune the seat position for optimal comfort and ergonomics. Other machines have a convenient lever-based drive system that puts the control at the operator’s fingertips for easy access, reducing strain on the wrists when maneuvering over difficult terrain. When comparing the various features of the different grinders, be sure to consider how easy it will be to maintain and replace engine filters and other parts that need regular attention. Machines with easy access to these components will be easier to clean and will have a longer lifespan than those that are more challenging to work on. Look for durable construction and strong welds as well, which will help to prevent the machine from breaking down prematurely. A company that’s known for their rugged and efficient stump grinders is Bandit Industries. Founded in 1983 in Remus, Michigan, they began producing hydraulic log splitter attachments for skid steers before realizing that contractors needed more efficient ways to clear debris from job sites. Since then, they’ve expanded their line-up of stump grinders to offer a wide variety of options for commercial and residential use. The company’s top-of-the-line 74 hp model cuts through stumps and their thick, twisted roots up to four feet in diameter with a single pass. Its wide swing and industry leading chip containment make it a standout performer in its class. via https://treeaestheticswa.wordpress.com/2024/10/26/the-benefits-of-stump-grinding/

An iconic song refrain.
Some interesting background information about the song (mostly Wiki):
The song was composed by British songwriters Chris Thompson, Andy Qunta and Maggie Ryder in response to an anti-nuclear demonstration in London's Hyde Park in 1985.
Chris Thompson intended to attend the rally, but he overslept. (More than 100,000 people attended the rally.)
As his 'penance' (for missing the rally) he decided to compose a song emphasising the importance of personal choices/volition for political change.
Chris Thompson knew the singer John Farnham (as the teen idol Johnny Farnham), but was doubtful he could do justice to the required singing.
John Farnham at that time was in heavy debt ('very bad business decisions'). He had sold his house and car to pay debts, and was living in a rented house.
Hearing the demo, John Farnham knew this could be a make-or-break moment for his career.
In his basement, he recorded the song, changing the bass (from the demo) for bagpipes.
The song was heard by many studio executives and refined/improved every time.
BUT no label was ready to release the album, nor were radio stations keen to play the song, because of his "Johnny Farnham" image (he was a teen pop idol in his early years - 1967 to 1979). See Johnny Farnham's 1967 UK song Sadie (the Cleaning Lady): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0c55lXRAeg
It was ultimately released by his talent manager's (Glenn Wheatley's) label Wheatley Records in 1986 as a single before the album release.
Whispering Jack eventually went 24× Platinum, with sales of 1.68 million in Australia alone.
It was the third-highest-selling album of all time in Australia as well as the highest of any Australian artist.
Whispering Jack outsold The Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in Australia. (Source: https://facts.net/celebrity/22-astonishing-facts-about-john-farnham/)
It was the first Australian-made album to be released on compact disc within Australia.
Funny: Australia gave him the Australian of the Year award/honour in 1987. At that time, he wasn't an Australian citizen (I guess they didn't know, since he was around for so long). He (quickly) became an Australian citizen in 1988. [Had to dig on and on for 2 hours to verify what I had read years back. All chat AI initially only says he was already an Australian citizen.] And No - it doesn't change anything about him or the award. Respect.
A lot more trivia here: https://www.nfsa.gov.au/latest/interesting-facts-about-john-farnham
Completely unrelated: This wild goose chase on You’re the Voice started with the intent to find out more about Brett Garsed’s music.

Lyrics:
We have the chance to turn the pages over We can write what we want to write We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older
We're all someone's daughter We're all someone's son How long can we look at each other Down the barrel of a gun?
You're the voice, try and understand it Make a noise and make it clear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo We're not gonna sit in silence We're not gonna live with fear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo
This time, we know we all can stand together With the power to be powerful Believing we can make it better
Ooooh We're all someone's daughter We're all someone's son How long can we look at each other Down the barrel of a gun?
You're the voice, try and understand it Make a noise and make it clear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo We're not gonna sit in silence We're not gonna live with fear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo
Ooooh We're all someone's daughter We're all someone's son How long can we look at each other Down the barrel of a gun?
You're the voice, try and understand it Make a noise and make it clear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo We're not gonna sit in silence We're not gonna live with fear Oh-wo-wo-wo, oh-wo-wo-wo [4x]
