seeing a speedrun of botw all dungeons and even like that .... its so strange how soulless totk feels to me when botw didnt, allthough it feels much flatter to me now since i know there wasnt any thought put into the things i thought were meaningful and that it will go nowhere in the end

and yet still it feels like its got soul that totk just hasnt; botw is far from perfect, like everything really, but totk to me really feels like a clunky grind game with no trust in the player at all, be it puzzles or 'story', and a fundamental missunderstanding of why botws world design and structure worked well as a whole in the end

i honestly still cant quite understand how on earth botw got totk as its 'sequel', all the things that needed work in botw where neglected or made worse totk while it also failed to follow up on literally anything in a meaningful way- when i still think the changes it needed where so OBVIOUS and the directions to follow up and expand on things to enhance not just the sequel but also botw in retrospect where so plenty and ready for the taking, it hurts me still even to think about it not being done and everything really being actively thrown away for NOTHING or things that make it AND botw WORSE in retrospect instead

i wont ever be able to forgive that, and some part of me hopes that this is the worst that they will ever do so at least we will get better games again in the future

I find the Scholars' Strife to be extremely interesting, I didn't initially pay attention to the actual story when playing but re-reading up on it I think it depicts my thoughts on Ratio's issues with both the Intelligentsia Guild and the Genius Society.

It's stated on the wiki that: "It was decided that whoever possessed the most valuable research and could solve greater problems would own the Scepters." which, essentially, is another way of saying 'Whoever is decided to be the smartest gets both recognition for being selected and additional resources.' The existence of the Scepters sparked various 'attacks' from one school to another in order to prove that they deserve to be considered for owning more.

This, to me, sounds similar to people trying to join the Genius Society. Although I don't believe it's meant to be a direct representation (nor does this event mention Ratio anyway) but it seems to me that they fit. The data bank on the Genius Society states: "There are also those who rejoice, thinking they have already reached greatness and had created priceless asset of civilization with their diligence and wisdom. They were sure that their life's achievements deserve Nous's approval." Which fits directly into the Scholars' Strife of 'thinking they deserve what they don't, but could, have.'

The data bank also states in regards to the Scholars' Strife that: "The Guild's knowledge and ideals were no longer pure, leaving only ugly conflicts behind." Which, to me, perfectly encapsulates what I believe to be Ratios issue with both the Guild and the Society. Every party is entirely focused on themselves and what they can gain that they simply don't care for actually spending knowledge and truth.

Back at RNM with bf for desserts!! I cannot believe entrance fee is $8 now... it's SO insane. I brought so much cash thinking I could eat everything I had on my list but the reality is that everything is a HUGE portion that I got full after buying 3 food items... smh. First thing I ate was brown sugar iced jelly with a shit ton of toppings ($12) - very yum, it was the best thing I ate all day. Followed up with a cup of sugar cane juice ($10) - super delicious and refreshing, I love sugar cane. Next was two "deep fried skewers" from Kai's Skewers and it was SO... BAD!!!! ($12). I never talk shit about food but this was so bad I couldn't even swallow it. Hard to chew... the flavour was weird... IDK I got hella scammed. No wonder they had no business lol. At that point I was super full but after walking around a bit more I got mango pomelo frozen yogurt ($15... can't believe it's so expensive lol) and it was yum but once again the portion was too huge so I chucked the last two pieces because I had to go on skytrain and it was too cold to eat more anyways... Overall nice to try everything I did try but wish I could have gotten rotato.. by the time I was hungry again they were already closing LMAO their business always too good but I haven't had one in YEARS.
