Damian, handing Bruce a piece of paper with a very neat calendar on it: father, I will be taking a step back from my participation in our nightly patrols. I have carefully considered factors such as, but not limited to, school tests, most likely days for breakouts and when other people will be available. Here is my schedule.

Bruce: any particular reason you are stepping back from Robin?

Damian: I have reached an acceptable age and am by far mature enough, so I will be participating in Ramadan this year, father. Afterwards I will pick my duties up as normal, but with changed sleeping and eating patterns, this is the most logical step for now.

RobinHill Guardian Angel!AU where Robin is a guardian angel assigned to protect Boothill's daughter but Boothill gets seriously injured somehow and basically needs all the prosthetics from his canon version. And despite Boothill's best efforts he doesnt have the abilty to raise his daughter alone cause of his painfully slow recovery process, so Robin decides to step in and breaks the Do Not Be Seen and No Direct Interference rules to basically take over half the parenting duties. The familys life does improve and Boothill's daughter is happier but Boothill is half convinced that his home is haunted by a suspiciously friendly ghost that he can only see from the corner of his eyes and Robin tries her best not to get caught so she doesn't get in trouble from Heaven or whatever.

I think the ubiquity of the internet (and its associated linguistic cultural infrastructures) even in the imperial margins has made the erstwhile complete dehumanisation of colonised populations to those in the core impossible given everyone is basically on the same discursive plane and the American political elite whose brains are still in the 2000s at the latest are struggling to reconcile with that. they just cannot understand why “raining napalms on brown savages because they’re terrorist commies” isn’t working on current American 15-29 year olds and it’s in a large part because even the most racist 25 y/o American went to basically the same school as a 25 y/o palestinian (school being a Harry Potter fan forum). like I am in no way saying that Americans are less racist or imperialist but somewhere I think in those under 30 there’s a critical mass of americans who intrinsically believe people from the global south are human in part because they grew up playing counter strike with foreigners which is a very low bar to clear but it was never cleared before even 10 years ago.
