"i promise youre safe now," you whisper into dustins hair as his arms tighten around your neck.

"the demogorgon, it was there and-"

"shhh, im right here, now." you draw circles into your brothers back. hes only just woken up from his nightmare, you can feel his heart beating wildly in his chest. hes still shaking and you have to tell yourself you cant cry yet. not yet. dustin needs you right now.

"can you tell me a bedtime story?"

his voice still trembles with fear and your heart aches for him.

"of course, dustin. any requests?"

he thinks for a moment, his heartbeat calming slowly. "the one with the dragon."

the dragon that will drew for you.

you smile. "thats a good one."

"its my favorite." dustin mumbles, his voice already sleepy.

"its mine, too."

and so you begin the tale, the one youve told a million times now, and you softly whisper dustin the story until hes limp in your arms and snoring against your ear.

you kiss his forehead.

"im sorry i did this to you," you whisper, before falling asleep yourself.

Imagine Eddie teasing Steve while they plan their wedding.

“Don’t worry, babe - I’ll have the tissues on standby for you,” he says, grinning.

Steve, who already knows he’s probably gonna cry, just rolls his eyes like “yeah yeah, laugh it up. Hardy har har.” But he’s smiling too. How can he not? He’s marrying the love of his life.

The ceremony happens. And for what it’s worth, Steve is actually pretty okay. Sure, he might have let a few tears escape, but nothing major. Not enough to even redden his eyes or cheeks. He’s fine.

Eddie, meanwhile, started bawling his eyes out as soon as he saw Steve in his tux, and did not let up even after they were pronounced husbands. How could he not? He married the love of his life.

(catch Wayne in the front row, alternating between rolling his eyes and wiping the tears away from them. He loves his boys, but damn are they silly sometimes.)

it's probably totally inconsequential that this season opened by showing us Dr. Martin Brenner, at his house, picking up the Hawkins Post newspaper thrown by the Hawkins Post newspaper delivery boy to illustrate Brenner Living In Hawkins.

and then "sacrifice" brought me here:

I don't know why this never struck me as weird until right now because. sacrifice? is that what you did? because you don't usually sacrifice victims to.. yourself. it's just, you know. murder.

Apparently, the last hurricane didn't do enough damage to my area, so a second one has it out for you.

Really just hoping my power doesn't go out for long. The last time it happened, a candle broke and we struggled to put the fire out.. everyone and the house came out of it fine, but the fire extinguisher was not where it was when we moved in.

On the bright side, the flowers are about to be absolutely stunning.
