(This set marks the first batch of photos I took with my new phone's camera. So, I played around with things a little bit)

(For comparison, I also took the same photos [as close as I could, anyway] with my old phone to see if there was any appreciable difference. I mean, other than the fact that I hadn't really figured out the aspect ratio settings stuff yet. The widescreen shots below are from my old phone)

The bunker’s kitchen is quiet, save for the faint sound of clinking bottles as Dean rummages through the fridge and the rustle of pages as Sam reads at the table. You sit nearby, legs tucked under you on the couch, with a small bottle of nail polish in one hand and a brush in the other.

The sharp, familiar scent of polish wafts through the air as you carefully paint your nails a deep, glossy black. You stick your tongue out slightly in concentration, eyes narrowing as you perfect the stroke on your pinky.

Dean glances over, beer in hand, raising an eyebrow. “Y’know, I’ve always wondered,” he says, leaning against the counter, “why don’t you just get someone else to do that for you? Like at one of those fancy salons or whatever.”

You snort, not looking up. “Why would I, when I can do it better myself? Besides, it’s relaxing.”

Sam lowers his book, glancing over the top of it. “It’s kind of impressive, actually,” he says, his voice soft. “Your lines are always so clean. I don’t think I’d have the patience for that.”

You glance at him, grinning. “Thanks, Sammy. It’s all about the brush angle and steady hands. You’d probably be good at it, considering how careful you are with research.”

Dean snickers. “Yeah, I can totally see Sam sittin’ here with sparkly pink nails. Real intimidating for the next hunt.”

Sam rolls his eyes, but there’s a faint blush creeping up his neck. “I wasn’t saying I’d do it, Dean. Just… appreciating the skill.”

“Uh-huh,” Dean teases, taking a sip of his beer.

You finish your last nail, setting the brush down and holding your hands up to admire your work. “Perfect, as always,” you say smugly.

Dean saunters over, leaning against the back of the couch to get a closer look. “I’ll give you this,” he says, nodding appreciatively, “they do look good. Guess I’d trust you more than some stranger with sharp tools near my hands.”

You laugh, nudging his arm. “Don’t worry, Dean. If you ever want a manicure, I’ll take care of you.”

i find it funny that mil*vens always repeat that "they're not breaking mil*ven up, they've been building them up for 4 seasons!!!" argument like a bunch of robots. they're parroting that as if it's a legitimate point and not complete bullshit. no, they've not been building up mil*ven for 4 seasons, they've been developing their relationship. there's a fundamental difference.

build-up implies characters and arcs going from point A to point B, gradually approaching the climax and resolution. mil*ven's point B happened back in season 2, in the 353 days and the snow ball scenes. that's it, the build-up has paid off and now it's over. in season 3 they are established at their point B. from then on, they've been developing their relationship and setting up their point C.

a build-up existing doesn't always mean it's going to be positive. characters slowly approaching divorce is a build-up. a character fostering resentment that leads them to betray a friend is a build-up. a character going from healthy to terminally ill is a build-up. as long as it's done slowly, brick by brick, and results in a climax, it's a build-up.

mil*ven being a pair throughout all seasons doesn't mean they have a singular overarching arc. that's the problem with the "for 4 seasons!!!!!" argument, since it's simply not applicable to mil*ven. it's almost like their shippers describe a completely different, a will-they-won't-they couple, and that was never the case. no, mil*ven's story isn't linear, as there was another conflict introduced. after getting from A to B, they're going to C now — from season 3, they've been building up a new arc in their relationship: their breakup.

but you know what has been built-up for 4 seasons and will conclude in season 5? will's sexuality arc. mike's internalized homophobia arc. and yes, mike and will's relationship.

Prompt 21 - First Flat/House

“You have to jiggle the lock, and the door sticks, but it’s ours,” Sirius said proudly as he jammed the key in the lock, twisted it at an odd angle until it clicked, and then put his shoulder against the door, shoving it hard. It shuddered on its hinges as it swung open and revealed the slightly rundown flat. “Look, I know it needs a bit of love, but we can make it our own,” Sirius darted forward and spread his arms out. “We can put a sofa here, and a bookcase here. Monty said we could have his old wireless, plus we can put my record player next to it so we can have the best of both worlds. 

There are two bedrooms, so James and Lily can stay over, and the bathroom has this amazing claw foot bath and the kitchen has an actual muggle oven in it.” 

Sirius led Remus all over the small flat. He looked at Remus hopefully once the tour was over, waiting for his verdict. 

“Sirius,” He said fondly. “It’s perfect,” Sirius leapt into his arms.

“You mean it? You really like it?” 

“Yes,” Remus chuckled.

“Brilliant!” Sirius beamed. 

They were interrupted by a knock at the door. Remus turned around and pulled it open, with Sirius still clinging to him. Two burly men were standing on the other side holding a bed between them. 

“Delivery for a,” The man looked down at his clipboard. “For a Mr Black,” He looked back up at them. “Either one of you, Mr Black?” Sirius let go of Remus and handled the delivery. Remus watched as item after item was brought up the stairs and into their new flat. Once everything was set up, Sirius made sure to give the men a good tip, with help from Remus to pick out the right notes, and shut the door on them. 

“So, party?” Sirius asked. Remus laughed and pulled him close for a kiss. Something he could do whenever he wanted now without the prying eyes of others. It was a heady feeling and one he hoped never went away.

"…the adrenal gland is made up of two glands: the cortex and the medulla. These glands produce hormones in response to stress and regulate blood pressure, glucose metabolism and the body's salt and water balance." James reads aloud as he absentmindedly runs his fingers through Regulus' hair, his head resting in his lap.

They have been studying for end of term exams non-stop for the last four hours and are intending to pull an all-nighter. At this rate, Regulus senses that he will be dreaming about the endocrine system as soon as he gets a chance to sleep.

Even though they are not studying the same major and have different part-time jobs, they try to spend as much time together as possible. If studying is one way of doing it, then so be it. Regulus loves when his boyfriend reads for him anyway.

"Baby, wanna take a short nap?" James says, caressing his cheek when he notices that he has closed his eyes.

"Hm, you know if we sleep now, we won't be up again to keep studying." Regulus says as he sits up properly and stretches his arms.

"I'll stay awake, don't worry about that."

"But you are tired too."

"Maybe, but I know how important it is for you to keep studying even when you know almost all of the contents."

And oh, Regulus could cry at how seen he feels right now. Instead, he lets himself be manhandled to bed, leaving pecks in every part of James's body he can reach.

"I'm only going to sleep for 20 minutes, okay?" the younger man says, hiding his face in his boyfriend's chest.

"Okay, alarm set."

"And James."

"Yes?"

"I love you." he can feel James' breath hitch for a second.

"I love you too." he replies sincerely, holding him closer and Regulus smiles.

It's the first time they've said it and he probably should be freaking out right now, but he falls asleep easily.

In the end, he doesn't dream about the endocrine system, but about James whispering sweet nothings to him.

But it might not be a dream at all.

Do you have a list of how many lines each chaaracter has of dialouge? Like a total number for each silly!! Im curious of who has the most lines and least lines

Thank god nobody can see how i monologued to the draft post. Anyways.

The Probably Most Accurate Way I Can Think Of to do this that also isn't total agony is to count the combined number of how often a certain character's portrait appears (Which means searching the game files for something like "M_" for Mirabelle) + how often the voice macro for text without a portrait appears (same example, this would be scanning the files for "\m[vmnp]" for Mirabelle).

For Siffrin I searched for both their voice macros. His dialogue is weird because all of it is legally a dialogue options, so I Think the voice macro has to be set every time.

(To clarify a voice macro has to be set every time the text beeps change. So every time there is a character switch or no beeps for Sif monologues. Meaning the number of voice macros is always gonna be Less than the actual amount of lines, since characters often have multiple lines in a row.)

The flaw of this method of course is that if a line has portrait variations, that line gets counted twice, but idgaf. so. and YES i did remember to exclude the japanese translation file from the search.

again. these are Rough Numbers, please only treat them as an estimate, and not as absolute fact.

These are ordered as voice macro + number of portraits

As for Sif Monologues, my best attempt came up with 4433 results (Searching ["( in the files, as that includes nearly all sif monologue lines, while also excluding some system stuff). So. The highest line count goes to Siffrin's internal monologue, actually.

Matt's friends are the types that are always on the lookout - ones who try their hardest to protect him and guide him in the right direction. Though, with Matt, that isn't always easy.

When it came to dating, Karen and Foggy were often wary about their friends' choice of partners. They knew very little about his previous flings and girlfriends, though there would be one that always came to mind first, the one who had caused him the most damage. The one he dated in college - the one who chewed him up and spat him out. Elektra.

So, as a result, Matt's friends often injected themselves into his love life, wanting to guard him and steer him - wanting to save him from even more harm. They would disapprove of Matt's poor choices in romantic partners, often shaming him for his casual hookups and one-night stands - reprimanding him for his refusal to settle down with someone decent. 

All berating from his friends stopped when he mentioned someone new he was dating. And that was you. He wasn't usually one to share details of his new partners, but there was just something so uniquely special about you, something so different to all his past partners. 

He knew he didn't need their approval or blessing, but he found it almost oddly comforting to hear their genuine excitement for him, for them to be intrigued and finally pleased with his choices. 

Things were still new and foreign and scary between you, but it was the good kind. And although you were only two proper and official dates in - you each had a positive feeling about where things were heading. 

When your third date rolled around, unbeknownst to the pair of you, Matt's friends had set up shop in a corner booth at the back of the restaurant, essentially spying on your date. They listened in on your conversations and watched your body language - noticing lingering hands and earnest smiles. 

And as they watched from a near distance - for once, they had finally approved of who Matt had decided to date.

Okay, so, now that my month has restarted for mobile data, I'm back up and running...ish.

Supposedly, the new wifi home kit is on its way. After nearly a month of them not responding with more than useless chatbots that ignored everything we said and closed the support tickets the second we looked away (Seriously, if you have any other options, go with someone other than starlink, because it might quite literally take an act of calling down the regulatory authority in your area to get them to actually do their jobs).

While I might not have wifi again yet, I've got enough data that I feel like I can run updates, catch up on some youtube and post extra pictures and stuff. Y'know, when the mobile data signal isn't throwing some sort of tantrum. And even then, it's pretty unpleasant and inconsistent to rely on.

Sets 353-358 have finally arrived!

Yes, four of them are chessex lab sets from the latest batch (Borealis Cosmos, Festive Hydrangea, Nebula Fluorite, and Marble Calcite)

The other two sets were ones that looked neat when I was placing the order - On the left is "Grey with White Irregular Pattern" (I'm just gonna call it "Grey Irregular"); On the right is "Multi-Colour Mix" (I'm calling it "Multicolour Splats")

Haven't done a full photo session yet - Not like I was able to post anything for a bit, there. Not like I'm gonna post a whole ton of photos right now anyway.

Plus, after this whole fiasco with relying on mobile internet and my mobile device, I've realized that I definitely should upgrade my phone - It probably won't fix network issues, but might have better hardware for maintaining a signal and whatnot.

So, I'll probably wait until I have the new camera in that new phone to do the full photos (and I may or may not be strongly considering getting more dice from amazon because I saw I really good deal on the wiz dice series 4 line)

I am so lucky that I love writing essays and that I do not do it for the notes or the clout, because this post took me like two seconds to create and was my most popular of the year.

I am so sad about the trajectory of my enjoyment of The Sign because I was having fun writing essays about it at the beginning. But by the end I was strongly contemplating writing a fix-it fic, though I quickly decided I did not have the brain space to write that whole thing out. ANYWAY...I really enjoyed writing this essay because lighting is my favorite part of theater performances and something I really love seeing and talking about in all visual mediums, but I have far fewer opportunities to do so in television because a lot of the time the lighting is more dedicated to looking realistic. The Sign gave me the opportunity to talk about lighting choices for the first time in forever.

ALL THESE END OF YEAR POSTS ARE REMINDING ME THAT @lurkingshan AND I OWE THIS SHOW THE RE-WATCH WE SAID WE WERE GOING TO DO. I was definitely a little skeptical going in to this show about the premise of this man being in a video game, but it had one of the smartest uses of that setting I've seen and I really enjoyed all the subtle ways that they used the world around them to deepen the story at hand and I'm really glad so many people seemed to enjoy this essay as well!

Here is a great example of @lurkingshan demonstrating that I can and will take essay requests for shows I am watching. I cannot begin to explain in words the chokehold this show had on me, so hopefully ya'll will just see the fact that I wrote ten essays about only six episodes of this show as evidence of how much back rent this show owes me for living in my head. 5. Parallels in Unknown Episode 9 essay- 329 notes - Apr 14 2024

It appears like Unknown fever was taking hold of a hell of a lot of us on this website considering that literally half of my most popular posts of 2024 were from this show. I think a really important aspect of this show and why I enjoyed it so much was that it was really taking its time demonstrating how much history Wei Qian has to overcome in order to take on that mental shift of viewing Wei Zi Yuan as a romantic partner instead of as his brother. Which is why I was so sad that they fucked up the sex scene in Ep 11 and did not spend as much time as they really should have cementing Qian's shifted feelings after the confrontation at the stairs at the end of Episode 10. EITHER WAY I do think the use of parallels was a really smart way of showing that recontextualization.

6. Fantasy v. Reality: The Sign Episode 7 essay- 328 notes - Jan 8 2024

I am such a huge proponent of talking about sex scenes in television not only because they are enjoyable to watch but because they are choreographed scenes that take a lot of planning and a lot of work and I think it is important to be able to see and approach conversations around intimacy on screen in such a way. Getting a chance to write about how the sex scene in episode 7 merged Phaya and Tharn's fantasies and also their lighting cues was really fun! I hope that 2025 grants me enough energy to get back on the essay writing wagon in full force because I miss doing it but also have felt incredibly uninspired by a lot of what I've seen in the BL sector the last couple months.

Hey there! What's your take on why Mike keeps his eyes open and just limply stands there when El kisses him at the end of ST season 3? Bylers claim it's because Mike doesn't love her and idk about that... that definitely wasn't my read. But I recently rewatched the whole show, and I can't really figure out what that moment is supposed to convey?? Like, watching that scene, there isn't the feeling of a great love being fulfilled, or of grief at losing her to the move. He just kind of seems... idk, confused? Perturbed? idk! I can't wrap my head around what I'm supposed to take away from that moment!

Ok. I almost didn't bother writing out a long, detailed post about this, because it's one of those things that (in my mind) shouldn't need to be explained, since (to me) it's presented so clearly in the source material already. So much of this show is so wildly misinterpreted all the time these days and it's getting to be exhausting-- half the time my reaction is just:

BUT! Why would I ever pass up an opportunity to yap about my favorite things, namely my dear my son my boy Michael Wheeler??

So! Let's consider all the context pieces going on here, shall we?

Things we know about Mike:

Struggles to say the Big L Word in general. Feelings are big and scary. (This is not a new concept, mind you. It's a very common romance trope. It's also a real thing that real people struggle with, especially among men and boys. Remember the cultural setting, everybody.)

he has low self-esteem and Big Insecurities about the validity of his feelings and his relationship with her (insecurities which are constantly reinforced by the people around him)

he is ALWAYS visibly startled/surprised when ANYONE expresses that they care about him to ANY extent (surprised that his mom empathizes with him and isn't angry about staying home from school when his best friend is missing, surprised when Dustin points out that he and Lucas are close best friends, surprised that Nancy runs out to hug him and says she was worried about him, surprised that El doesn't judge him for being bullied and says she understands, surprised when she tells him she was listening all 353 days, surprised when she tells him she missed him at the pizza shop, surprised when Will tells him that he's the glue that holds the party together and that they all need him, surprised when Karen goes on a mom tirade about how she was worried sick and never wants to let him go far away ever again, etc etc etc... idk what you expect at this point)

here, he is clearly bracing himself for saying goodbye and putting on nonchalant fronts to protect himself from experiencing that grief again (see my pinned post for more in-depth analysis of why Mike is scared of his feelings)

Also take into account: 

He TRIED to tell her he loves her in the supermarket, like really genuinely tried, but they were interrupted by ALL the shit hitting the fan. There is a LOT going on!! El's powers are gone and no one knows why! She's grieving the loss of her father! She's about to move across the country to somewhere entirely new and unfamiliar! Mike doesn't want to be selfish right now given what she's going through, making such a move now would be pretty tactless, and he's trying so hard to be a good respectful boyfriend (after literally everyone told him off for things like caring too much/spending too much time with her). Plus, if she doesn't reciprocate, well then fuck, some of his last moments with her will be stained by disappointment and guilt and awkwardness. And if she does reciprocate, well then fuck, now that just makes this goodbye even harder for both of them.

So yeah. He's fuckin shook. And, like the awkward noodle he is, Mike is slow to process it.

There are SEVERAL emotions going on right now-- the most apparent one being shock/surprise/confusion. Of course it's massively validating to hear "I love you, too", the same way it's massively validating to hear her say "I understand" and "I heard". But whatever happy feelings it brings are definitely overshadowed by the sinking realization that despite it all, he's still losing her. They still have to go separate ways. Remember that while we the audience know they're all going to come back to Hawkins and be reunited by the end of the story, the characters don't know that. As far as anyone knows in this moment, they're moving away for good. (And btw, distance is a lot bigger of a deal when methods of communication are limited-- remember the setting, everybody!! No instant messaging!! Letters take weeks to mail, no way to see each other's faces except through mailed photographs, only one landline phone per household and you have to factor in time zones and family members' working hours... long-distance relationships are hard now, imagine how hard they would be for teenagers in 1985!!)

Bottom line: He wasn't expecting her to say it. He wasn't prepared to hear it now. He wasn't ready for it to be such a mix of hurt and happy all at once. All he could do is stare in awestruck bewilderment.

His first love, the most important person to him in the whole world, truly reciprocates his feelings. And he's about to lose her forever again.

Unfortunately Finn's face is kind of obscured from view during a lot of the actual kiss, which can understandably make it hard to read, but he is most definitely kissing her back-- it's very hesitant and subtle compared to El's confidence, but he does lean in to meet her.

Every single indicator (in the music, the blocking/camera work, etc) is purposefully framing this scene as a positive moment and the resolution to their relationship arc for the season.

Further conflict and further resolution that we see in S4 supports/confirms this as the correct interpretation. His confession monologue spells it all out word for word for christ's sake.

Narratively, the scene would make ZERO sense if that was meant to be a negative reaction. Their romance subplot goes through all the story arc steps and all the buildup, why would it fall so flat right at the final piece of the resolution? That would just be poor writing. (And frankly, that entire take is evidence of poor media literacy and comprehension. You just... you can't cherry-pick the details, guys, I'm sorry.)

If that kiss was meant to be a nail in the coffin, a realization that everything that the story has established and everything these two characters have expressed thus far is, in fact, not so... then we wouldn't have seen a moment like this with such intimacy right afterwards:

Tell me you can't read his face now. He's in tears and clinging to her. That is heartbreak! And just by looking at how she touches his face and presses their foreheads together, you can tell she feels it too and understands.

So yeah, that's my take on it. I hope this provides some clarity! <3

Snow was falling outside. The fire was crackling merrily, and Remus had a new book to curl up with on this perfect winter's day. The only thing missing was a nice mug of hot chocolate. 

He got the pan out to heat up the milk. He set it on the hob to heat and went in search of the tin of hot chocolate. He found it in the cupboard with the tea things. Opened the lid and nearly cried. It was empty. 

He growled as he turned to turn off the pan of heating milk. He would gut whoever put the empty tin back in the cupboard. His money was on James. That man was a disaster. 

He left everything as it was, too annoyed to put anything away and tried his hardest to relax with his book. Eventually, he gave up and watched the snow fall out of the living room window. 

He thought about going out and buying more hot chocolate. He’d have to get bundled up and go and find his muggle money, but he’d never settle without it. 

Remus had just hauled himself out of his chair when the front door banged open. Sirius walked into the house, covered in snow and wrapped head to toe in Effie's homemade knitted items.

“Hey, sweetheart,” Sirius’s voice was muffled by his scarf. He took it off, along with his coat, gloves and hat, before shaking his hair out. That’s when Remus noticed the carrier bag by his feet. 

“Did you go to the shop?” He asked hopefully. Sirius grinned at him. 

“Couldn’t find your hot chocolate, huh?”  

Remus rushed forward as Sirius plucked the familiar red tin from the shopping bag. 

“I love you,” He gushed, kissing Sirius chastely on the lips and rushing off to the kitchen to finally make his hot chocolate. 

“Make me one too, will you?” Sirius called after him as Remus busied himself with opening the tin and carefully measuring out far more of the chocolate powder than the tin said to use. He couldn’t wait to finally get to do what he’d planned to do.

“Can you please come and get me?” Those words played on loop in EZ’s head, he couldn’t get the sound of your scared voice out of his head. You didn’t tell him what happened or if you were hurt, only where to pick you up from.

Ezekiel was quick to jump on his bike and speed to your location. His heart was beating rapidly in his chest, mind racing a mile a second thinking about all the possible scenarios you could be in. By the time EZ finally found you on the side of the street, it was pouring rain and you had no rain coat or umbrella to shield you. As EZ took off his helmet and goggles, he noticed you were shaking and that’s when you immediately raced towards him, throwing your arms around his neck and clinging to him for dear life, not giving him the chance to get off his bike. EZ’s arms instinctively enveloped you in a tight embrace, his hand gently rubbing your back. Neither one of you cared that you were getting drenched and could possibly end up with a cold tomorrow. You needed him, his safety, his protection, and you needed him as close as possible. EZ allowed the hug to last a few more moments. “Let’s get you dry, okay?” He spoke softly, placing a kiss to the top of your head.

You nodded against his shoulder before pulling yourself out of his arms. As you did so, EZ caught sight of the state you were in, a busted lip, bruises decorating your arms, and a red cheek. EZ’s blood boiled more and more as he saw each bruise, scratch, and cut littering your body. “Who did this to you?” He blurted out, causing you to jump at his stern tone and clenched jaw. The movement didn’t go unnoticed. “I’m sorry, mi amor. I didn’t mean to scare you. Do you know who did this to you?” He apologized before asking again, this time in a calmer tone.

You knew exactly who did this, and you knew EZ would revel in setting the score.
