Tifa backed away until she was as flat as she could against the wall on the opposite end of the room. Sephiroth had been the man that set everything in motion; their enemy. Yet, here he was; a hand placed protectively before her being the only thing between a door -- a portal to who-knows-where and her. Her mind raced - how could she trust a promise from a man who's done against everything they've strived to protect.

Her knees trembled, but she wouldn't lose her footing, especially before him. When her body had been dragged towards the door, he was the reason she didn't get sucked in with the rest of her party. A knot in her throat as the gust from the portal lashed at them. Why had he protected her?

"W-What is that!?" The monk managed, hardly able to keep her distance from the swordsman. How had he gotten there in the knick of time? Was he connected to it somehow?

Watching Hazbin Hotel with vague knowledge of angelic lore and having been raised Catholic is so wild. Like I can vibe with most of it, the writing is cool and shit, but then I crash into “why the fuck is Adam an Angel?!” And it’s like… fuck this is a different view on Angels and Heavenly bodies than I’m familiar with and mostly cartoon shit, but I’m still like.

Adam and Eve are guilty of Original Sin, and IF he’s in heaven he has to be proof of redemption, in some way. This was way easier to bullshit when we were exclusively in Hell dealing with demonic entities. Heavenly Bodies is bringing in questions of “what isn’t a sin, and what is forgiven, what does allow someone into Heaven” and my fucking Catholic Trauma brain is starting to go a little obsessive with what that means.

Where’s Eve? How does all this add up? How do human souls become angels? Is Adam just built different? How accurate to biblical lore is it? Which biblical lore? Saint Peter guards the gates of heaven, which is technically not canon to any biblical scripture, but I think Catholicism is the only one that has “Saints,” and I did take a like 30 minute wiki skim to check for sure that it was Saint Peter who does that because my brain seriously blanked on whether it was Peter or Paul who did that. But it makes sense it’s Peter given the whole… “Peter, born Simon, named by Jesus as the rock, foundation of the Christian Church” which is like. *An* interpretation of the translation. But the one I learned. I know it’s potentially incorrect and up for interpretation and I know neither Hebrew nor Greek nor Latin so please don’t get mad at me lmao. I know there’s like four alternative names like Simeon and Petros and Cephas but that isn’t applicable to like. This current conversation. I’m *raised* Catholic, not Catholic anymore. It’s been a while since I went to bible study. And it’s hard to find a non-theistic bible study that isn’t… so condescending I want to commit violence. (Literally, what the fuck is up with Atheists who have to be assholes about it? Like. You do not make recovery from religious trauma easier by making the outside world the most hostile and unpleasant place possible.)

That was a fucking tangent and a half but like. Yeah. I am definitely maybe asking too many questions about the biblical lore of Hazbin Hotel, and I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be like this. I just maybe like. Am fascinated. In weird ways. Due to my own weird history. Oops.

Alto did you know there are actually people in the fandom getting mad at ecpeeps saying that Zack and Angeal look alike?

That's...a really weird thing to get mad about.

Honestly, getting mad about people coming to those conclusions doesn't actually make any sense. Angeal and Zack are two characters narratively tied together as mentor-student. Not to mention Zack is positioned as Angeal's living legacy, a physical representation of Angeal's teachings, even carrying his own trademark weapon. Both characters also serve as companions for Sephiroth in both FS and CC respectively, serving a similar purpose in evoking a sense of connection and positivity. And then there's obviously the intentional physical resemblance between young Angeal and Zack---black hair, blue eyes, similar posturing with their art, etc.

Like yeah, obviously they have different distinct features to distinguish them--different face shape, skin tones, etc. But I would not blame ANYONE for assuming that the narrative intent is to have them resemble each other. It ties into their bond, the role they serve in the narrative, and the intrinsic themes that guide both their character arcs. I 100% see this. And I wholly believe it's intentional.

Additionally, just as a final bit, the concept of non biologically-related characters resembling each other, whether physically or via personality, isn't anything NEW. It's an extremely popular trope in fiction and is more than often present across various forms of media, including movies, tv shows, manga, anime, folk stories, etc. Angeal and Zack looking so similar is probably a nod to the idea that Angeal was once a lot like Zack. And that Zack is ultimately a representation of his ideals, his lighter half.

Idk man it's just a really weird thing to complain about. I can understand people getting annoyed at Glenn constantly being called Cloud's father because they both happen to be blond. Or even people who don't like the Vincent-Dad Theory just because he and Seph both happen to be attractive men. But in this case, these two characters are specifically connected to each other on a narrative level and serve similar roles. Fans seeing them as looking similar to each other is often centered in the narrative connection that the characters share along with intentional physical callbacks from the devs. Simple as that.

Thirsty Thursday: Issue 2: Reconciling love with a new identity

This is the second part of the Thirsty Thursday posts I want to do today. I have been thinking hard on how to make the One-Winged Angel accept that he actually does love Bianca, since I like to keep the canon characters in my work as close to canon as possible.

With that in mind, I thought I would try to work out how Sephiroth accepts his love post-Nibelheim with his plans. One thing to keep in mind for this is that he did try to purge his love for Bianca when he was in the Lifestream, as well as his other positive emotions. Their soul-bond, which links them through dimensions, refused to let him do this.

Again, this only applies to Fantasy Worlds Collide. It is not meant to be an in-depth analysis of Sephiroth.

Content Warning: manipulation, emotional dependency, emotional suppression, exploitation, psychological complexity, self-destruction, themes of godhood, toxic relationship dynamics, violence, and references to cosmic destruction.

This quote has been living rent-free in my head for the past few months. I wanted to keep the theme of this to Sephiroth's personality in any fan fiction that I wrote about him. With this in mind, he does several things to make sure that she is not a 'relic' or 'tether' to his past.

Sephiroth tends to reframe his love for Bianca not as a weakness tied to his humanity but as a testament to his superiority. In Fantasy Worlds Collide, he views their bond as something beyond mortal constrains: an eternal connection that transcends the boundaries of a normal relationship. Bianca's unwavering loyalty and shared vision for dominance allow him to justify her place in his life, seeing her as a asset and a partner in his ascension rather than a tether to his past.

As mentioned above, Sephiroth also attempted to purge all emotions, including those feelings he has for Bianca. However, their soul bond -- amplified by the threads of destiny, Jenova and S-cells, and telepathic link -- made her presence in his memory unavoidable. Instead of continuing to waste his energy fighting it, Sephiroth accepts this connection now as an unshakable part of himself. Her existence became one of the few emotions that he allows himself to retain, not as a relic of his humanity but as a manifestation of his new self. His fallen celestial and her identity is deeply intertwined with the chaos he sees himself creating.

He also does not see her as a reminder of his humanity but as a reflection of his godlike nature. Although Bianca was born in a human host, she is not human. Her celestial and demonic heritage, her devotion to him, and her willingness to embrace his darker path elevated her in his mind to something far superior then the humanity he despises. To Sephiroth, loving Bianca doesn't diminish his rejection of humanity, but it reinforces his believe in their shared purpose as beings destined to reshape existence.

Although he rejects vulnerability, his bond with Bianca forces him to confront his emotional dependency. He reconciles this by viewing her presence as inevitable and inescapable -- much like the Jenova cells that define him. He accepts her as part of the new Sephiroth, a constant chaos, rather than a visage of who he once was. In doing so, he can compartmentalize the emotional aspects of their bond, justifying his feelings as an extension of their shared power rather than a weakness.

Although I tend to portray their relationship as loving, there are times where he manipulates her love to ensure she remains aligned to his plans, reinforcing that their bond serves his goals rather than detracts from them. However, please know that this manipulation is not devoid of genuine affection. Despite his attempts to suppress his emotions, the connection between them is often too profound for him to deny completely. He convinces himself that allowing her to remain in his life when he is the One-Winged Angel is a calculated decision, even as his actions might betray some lingering humanity.

And, finally, Sephiroth is a very intelligent man. He saw her own descent into darkness as a mirror to his own path, which makes it easier for him to reconcile her place in his life. Her willingness to embrace her corruptive nature now and her role as his partner in chaos aligns with his rejection of his former self. He views her transformation as proof that she, too, has transcended humanity, making their bond a strength rather than a weakness in his eyes.

Also, I don't think he would pass off someone who can cast a kilo-nova to destroy the Omniverse and rebirth it into what he wants Creation to be.

since we got angeal and seph making gen blush, how about gen flustering both of them?

- genesis will sometimes cuddle with or hug sephiroth and gently whisper words of care and praise, and then gets all giggly and happy when he pulls away and sees the faintest bit of pink lightly dusting sephiroth’s pale cheeks

- sometimes when angeal does something very well, like makes a particularly good meal or has a particularly good training session, genesis will go overboard on praising and complimenting angeal, which makes angeal blush, to which genesis starts laying on the praise even more and teasing angeal about getting so flustered, which in turn causes angeal to blush even more

- genesis teases them both a lot, and sometimes he’ll get lucky and make them super flustered

- when angeal and genesis were kids it was always easy for genesis to make angeal blush because angeal had such a big obvious crush on genesis, but as they grew up and became boyfriends, angeal knows how to suppress it more so its harder for genesis to make him blush, but a lot of times genesis is still able to manage it just because no matter what angeal is still head over heels for genesis all these years later

- soft innocent touches always make sephiroth blush because its not something he’s used to, and genesis uses that to his advantage all the time

- genesis occasionally goes a little overboard with caring for angeal and sephiroth, sometimes fretting a lot over small little things like making sure their wearing appropriate warm clothes in the cold, making sure they have umbrellas on rainy days, making sure their shoes are tied, little things of that nature, and sometimes that excessive care flusters angeal and sephiroth

- genesis does not hesitate to flaunt sephiroth and angeal off to absolutely everyone they meet, borderline even bragging about them, and sometimes it embarrasses them but most times it just makes them blush and their hearts flutter

- genesis is the most shameless of them all when it comes to pda, making angeal and sephiroth blush frequently

IN QUITE A FEW VERSES, PERSEPHONE'S HAIR is the only truly supernatural thing about them. it is the singular manifestation of a small shard of the void contained within persephone and her twin brother. in him, it manifests in different ways depending on the version of him i'm writing against (i like to give my friends a blank slate for twin and see what they come up with :D there are three versions of him so far and i love all of them to death.)

glossy, pin-straight and ink-black, persephone's hair is far too lightweight for its length. in its darkest parts — the shadows cast underneath it especially — one can just catch an array of faint and glimmering stars.

roughly three quarters of the way through, it begins to dissolve into dark wisps of odorless smoke, which is cool and misty to the touch. the smoke reacts normally to wind and solid matter passing through it, dissipating and separating around the interference.

her hair's temperature (slightly colder than room temp) is completely static & unaffected by the environment, which makes it an excellent tool for temperature regulation in extremely hot or cold seasons.

it also interacts uniquely with different elements of the world around it. in deep shadow, the smoke spreads into the space, which in turn causes the shadows to darken unnaturally. it helps them camouflage in unlit spaces, obscuring their body in nearly-tangible darkness. in water, first it spreads an oil-slick of smoke over the surface. then it spreads downward, pools like ink under the surface and does not stop until the entire body of water is pitch-black.

persephone loves her hair. she always has. the only trait that they dislike — strongly, especially now — is that its growth is not affected by time, but strong fear. it is a protective mechanism. the reason she keeps it so long is that it refuses to grow any further than her knees, so there is no way it can be used as a tell for what she's feeling.

most of the time, seph leaves it down or ties it into a ponytail. if they need it out of the way, they'll braid it. the only exception to this is verses where they need to hide their identity (such as fe:3h), in which case they will separate it into two braids and pin it close to their head, tucking in the ends to stifle as much of the smoke as possible. she still needs to wear a hood to obscure the rest (a safe enough option, as it blends into the shadows around it.)

There is a severe temptation to Rag on Genesis and make this crack, but I Im too much of a sucker for Angst and Hurt/comfort😅. I have accepted my role really, and I love it. Never come to me for Crack, I always just make it sad.

Angeal stares at the steam rising from the cettle as it boils. He's exhausted and if he's honest with himself he's terrified. This doesn't happen to them, they don't get sick! And even on the odd ocassions they do, it is never like this.

when Genesis had complained of a headache the afternoon before, Angeal had rolled his eyes at the man and sparingly suggested he rest his eyes from reading. when the complaints of it getting worse hadn't stopped he'd snapped at Gen to go lay down in a dark room if its so bad. Only to be shocked when Genesis had swayed like a stick of bamboo the wind unon standing up.

Gen had gone quiet after that, Lying on his own office couch with the lights off and not moving. By the end of the day, when Sephiroth had swung by both of their officed to collect them for dinner, Genesis had developed a cough... and then the cough got worse.

... and worse.

When Gena was little, Angeal remembered he was sick a lot. Flu, Scarlet fever, colds, migraines, it didn't really matter what it was Genesis seemed to get it. Usually he'd just complain and sneeze and be obnoxious. But other times ha remembered his mother being called for when Gen wouldn't get out of bed, wouldn't speak or move much except to cry or struggle to breath.

Now felt like one of those times.

They had been up all night with him, taking turns to whip his brow and sooth him through the endless coughing fits, vomiting and barly cognazent concious moments. Sephiroth had Tied up his own hair and then Gena's when the stress started getting too much, and angeal had winced when Genesis had whimpered at the preasure on his scalp... But it was better that then trying to sponge sick out of his hair.

After twelve hours of pure torture for everyone involved, Gena's fever broke and he gained a little bit more licidity. Now it was just making sure he made a full recovery.

Angeal made up a two cups of coffee and placed a clean rag over the bowl of Chicken noodle soup he'd warmed. He doubted Genesis would be able to keep all of it sown, but they at least needed to try. Placing it all on a tray he trecked back to the bedroom.

"How are we looking?" He asked upon entering. Sephiroth was sat in the squishy reading chair that usually sat in the Corner of Gena's room, looking only maginally less tired than Angeal felt. The man was used to insomnia.

"he woke up for only a minute or two. I managed to get him to drink some water," Seph whispered back, taking the cup that was handed to him.

Angeal sighed and sat on the end of the bed. "I never thought I'd say this but i think I need to hear him being dramatic,"

Sephiroth hummed and looked back at Genesis on the bed. He didn't look peaceful exactly, there was too much sweat and signs of distress about his person for that, but he he no longer seened to be in active discomfort and stress. angeal watched Seph scan his eyes over their lovers face and body, taking note of everything he could.

"What are you thinking?" he asked softly, placing a hant on Sephiroths thigh and squeezing.

Sephiroth twitched his nose slightly, a little stress tell they'd long ago realised he was considering variables that he didn't like. It was upsetting how often those variables were the truth.

"I'm thinking, we may need to pay a visit to Hollander once he is not in danger any more" Angeal blinked at him.

"You think Hollander did this to him?" he asked, with a note of scepticism to his voice. "Seph, babe, I know you have reason to mistrust scientists, but this is Hollander we're talking about here. He's not Hojo, he doesn't do things like this!"

"No? Angeal, consider for a second. Genesis goes down to the lab for a pre mission check up" Sephiroth bracketted the words with air quotes, and Angeal would have snorted at how very Zack the gesture was had he not started to feel sick himself. Sephiroth continues.

"And when he comes back from the lab he complains that he has a headache; something he has not complained of since he was a third, I know because I checked -"

"you accessed his medical records? seph tha-"

"Hush. complains of a headache and then all of a sudden the mission is cancled due to prioritising and Genesis does not even have the time to feel angered at any kind of usually percieved slight against his skill before he's going down - in a single afternoon Angeal- with a severe fever, sickness, apparent chest infection and the worst migraine he has had since he wat fourteen."

Layed out as plainly as Sephiroth had put it, it did seem awfully convenient that Genesis had not been sent away as this was developing. in fact Angeal could track Sephiroths logic almost perfectly with little room to suggest conicidence. But this was Hollander .The man was a bastard, that Angeal would fully admit, but he had never purposfully poisoned them before, not in the ways Hojo had done to Sephiroth.

"Could you two discuss the conspiricy of my death a little quieter please?" came a rough voice from behind him, and when he turned to follow Sephs redirected gaze he saw Genesis attempting to pull himself up into a sitting position.

He got up to help, but was flapped at irately when he went to support Gena's back.

"How do you feel?" he asked softly, and Genesis sighed.

"Like I went round for round with the Midgar Zolom and then decided to train with Sephiroth as a masocistic treat to myself," Sephiroth snorted as he moved to Gens other side, sitting on the bed with him and pulling the red head to lean against his sweater clad side.

Gen leaned into it with a comfroted hum, reaching for Angeal who came easily. winding his ams around the both of them and placing his chin on Gen's head.

"If you wanted to fight me like this, i would have been bored by your sloppyness." Sephiroth pokes fun and Genesis squawks indignintly. Angeal chuckled.

"So mean!" Gena weakly punches Sephiroth in the thigh. "I could have very well died!"

Angeal sobered a bit, and from the shit in Sephiroths posture, so did he.

"yes, you could have," he murmered and Genesis' anger Deflated. He coughed into his fist as he relaxed against them, and when his breath caught, the two sat him up straighter so that he could breath better as he Coughed harder.

"S-sorry" he weezed.

"It's fine love," Ageal whispered handing him the glass of water. Gen Gulped it down and sat back again.

"I have not missed being this ill." he commented. "Reminds me of of the time I had scarlet fever, though I confess I don't actually remember a lot of the experience. mostly the pain,"

They sat there for a while in silence, Seph playing with the promise ring on Gena's left hand while Angeal combed out some of the knots out from his hair. after about half an hour, Genesis spoke; his breath rattling in his chest a little.

"Do you truely think Hollander did this to me?" he asked, not looking at either of them.

"I do," was all Sephiroth gave him, and Angeal sensed that Genesis din't know what to do with that information. what were you supposed to say when the man in charge of you medically was suspected of trying to kill you?

There was nothing anyone could say that could ever make that okay.

"I made you soup, if you're up for eating?" he offered instead and Genesis seemed to welcome the distraction, making grabby hands at him, like a child, as he reached for the still warm bowl.

As Angeal and Sephiroth watched him eat, they glanced at each other, a silent agreement being made. It this was Hollander -and Gods above did Angeal hope it wasn't - Then they would do everything in their power to hunt that man down and end him before he had the chance to make Genesis suffer further.

2. Do they have any siblings? hows their relationship with family?

I love this question and I will get more into detail with all of my ocs in another post or in their character page (when i create one :3)

Sephtis has an older sister (three years older). They both have a good relationship with their mother, but a terrible one with their father. Their dad actually cut ties with them because they are both (according to him) "a disgrace to the company and family name" he ended up giving the company to their cousin because neither of them wanted to inherit their fathers company, nor cared about his business lol. Their father was never really there for them, their mother practically had a facade the entire marriage & fought so much for Seph and his sister to live "normal lives" as nepo babies (lol) they were pretty popular in school because of their bg which they hated. Their parents divorced Sephs senior year of hs and at that time is when his dad cut ties w him as well.

Izara is an only child. She has a good relationship with her parents. They're more on the traditional side & older people, so sometimes they dont see eye to eye, especially when she was in Junior High & High school. Izara's interests concerned them (literally just regular interests teenagers have that freak out ethnic parents bc they need theyre becoming demons or some shit lol) also didnt like that she loved art and wanted to be an artists/art curator. Eventually though, they understood that they cant control what their daughter does with her future and that is all up to her ( I think they left her alone more so because they realized she is successful in her art and modeling career).

Benny is the youngest of 4. He has 3 sisters. His relationship with his parents was really shitty growing up, sadly. He is gay & hes known that for his whole life. Having 3 sisters and being the only boy, he loved to play with dolls. His parents being very religious, seeing him play with dolls, was not something they liked. Even if he was just playing with his sisters. In school, he was bullied. There was name calling and rumors that spread around about him. His parents hated the rumors and name calling not because it hurt Benny, but because it makes them look like bad Catholics. Benny truly only had his sisters and other female friends by his side throughout school. It wasnt until high school where things seemed to change for the better. This especially were better because he had Sephtis. His parents have come around, but they def took their time to finally accept their son.

3.Where are they from? do they speak another language?

Sephtis is from Osaka, Japan (Mt. Komorebi) then moved to Los Angeles at age 4 (Del Sol Valley). He speaks English and Japanese!

Izara is from New York (San Myshuno), shes Ethiopian-American. She speaks English and Amharic.

Benny is from Quebec (have no idea what sim world would be considered Canada lol) He speaks French & English

What's their biggest (stupidest) fear?

Okay so Sephtis & Izara are afraid of movie characters LMAO Sephtis will forever be afraid of Kayako (The Grudge) movie he watched as a kid with his sister that scarred him as a child ksfkksfks. Izara specifically does not like the older Godzilla (model?? costume??) she thinks its ugly and creepy as fuck like literally nightmare looking ass creature. IS THIS NOT JUST CREEEPY TO U???

Ok I wouldnt say Benny's is stupid....hes afraid of bugs specifically roaches. I mean logically, hes bigger than them so he can step on them and kill them, but he just finds them super fucking gross that he cant bring himself to do that lol.

Sephtis' fave band is BUCK-TICK, Fave genre is Rock (I'll keep it broad because he loves a toe=ne of sub rock genres).

Izara's fave artist is PinkPantheress! For groups, she likes New Jeans, Aespa & Perfume (yes she listens to kpop/jpop). Fave genre is pop for sure!!

Benny's fave band are the cranberries!! fave genre is also rock, but he prefers alternative rock!!

Okay well, I want to share a little about Seph and Benny's relationship rq!! So they went to the same high school. Sephtis is a year older than Benny. Their paths didnt officially cross until Sephtis' senior year and Benny's junior year of high school. They met one day after school when it was raining, Benny didnt have an umbrella but sephtis did :) thats all ill say for now :3

7. Beach day! What will your characters wear to the beach, and what activities do they get up to?

well first of all nauti's hosting, she and tippi literally have beachfront property on parnithas, it's a vacation at nauti's place while the boys are at work, teia and nauti started planning it and then sephira messaged teia cause aephis is deployed and she's empty-nesting hard so she gets invited, and then sina gets dragged in too because of course teia knows nihlus's mommy and knows she gets lonely it's fine nauti has a huge house and it gets so empty when tippi and the kids are away

anyway.

teia's in a sarong and a big floppy sunhat and sunglasses and nothing else, turians don't care about toplessness and i will die on this hill. yes you can probably see her plates through the wrap no she does not care. nauti's in cargo shorts and shades, also topless, and also covered in water + sand in under five minutes because she is Not Normal about sunny days on the beach. sina is also in cargos, but she's actually wearing a top, a loose draped tank but a top, because she's self-conscious even among friends, and also has a glove on her prosthetic hand and something tied around the arm to protect the mechanisms. technically it'll be fine, but it'll be a bitch to clean, and nobody feels like listening to her complain about it the entire time she's cleaning it. sephira's the only one mostly covered up, long sleeves and a wrap skirt, all in loose breathable fabric to stay cool but covered up, because albinism. parnithas has more of a magnetosphere than palaven so she's safer, but at this point it's force of habit.

nauti, feral animal, is gonna go charge into the waves and have fun getting knocked over a few times before she gets some in her lungs and sputters a bit while she staggers over to the tide pools to climb on rocks and poke at things. teia's walking along the edge, enjoying the sand between her toes and the sea lapping at her feet, and eventually decides fuck it and tosses her hat and shades to sephira and goes to also get wet, has fun doing that, then retreats when she's tired to sunbathe. (sparky gets pics of every step of this process, naturally, to make him jealous and also a lil hot and bothered about it.) sina Does Not Like This Nature Shit, and is sitting curled up at the edge of the beach watching suspiciously for a bit until she gets bored and starts doodling in the sand. sephira brought a book, and is sitting under an umbrella reading, until eventually teia convinces her to come build a sand castle with her. at some point nauti finds her volleyball from last vacation and starts playing with it, convinces sina to join her, and then all four go on an adventure into the garage to find the net so they can play volleyball (nauti and seph vs teia and sina, to keep the jocks separated). once everyone's tired they're building a bonfire and having dinner cooked over it, and oops this was partially a plot on teia's part to get nauti worn out so she'd sleep at a reasonable hour and not be sad about tippi not being there.

10. Your characters are having a potluck. Where are they holding it? What do each of them bring?

probably having it either at teia's place on the citadel as the most central place for all of them to get to (sephira living on palaven, nauti also on the citadel when not deployed, and sina in terminus) or nauti's again, because beachfront. they may also be able to swing sephira's parents' house, which axilus moves into after the war as trierceo and orian are too old to live alone much anymore, it's huge and spacious and great for hosting people, but unfortunately there's a trierceo there. teia or nauti's homes are probably the safest bet.

i think of the four of them sephira and teia are the only ones who can actually cook. sephira goes mildly insane, three kinds of zouklian curry (which they are all legally required to say is better than invictan before they're allowed to leave the table), a basket each of bread and stew-bones, and two different desserts. she's used to feeding a whole entire large army officer and his equally large sons, plus herself, she doesn't even know how to cook for just a couple people anymore. they compensate for this by allowing the husbands to come, on the condition that ierian and aephis play nice or they go home without dinner. sina gets to bring nihnih to compensate for lack of marty. teia brings roasted dazduus and skarrit, fresh from verritana's farm and calvetana's nets, plus meat pies made with the dazduus meat that didn't make pretty roasts. nauti brings the only dish she can confidently make, Noodles With Meat In Sauce, in a couple different varieties to hide the fact that she kinda sucks at cooking. tippi can also only cook a few things but it's different things so they could still give their kids decent variety growing up, it was fine. sina cannot cook in the slightest and so is tasked with finding the fruit and veg platter and the drinks.

We don't really get to hear about aging SOLDIERs cause well, they're not really meant to survive so long, so I'd love to hear about thoughts about if they *did*

You’re absolutely right in that SOLDIERs unfortunately tend to lead very short lives. So what would a life look like post-ShinRa? What would it look like for our bestest buddies, had they had the opportunity to live the life they deserved….?

Sephiroth was always uncertain about his future. It was almost impossible to imagine a life without being bound in the ropes that he had known since his first breaths. A life… without fighting? Without bloodshed? Without orders to follow and rules to adhere to? A life where he didn’t have to fill the contours of an already-existing poster? It was…. frightening, truly. And perhaps that’s why he never tried to leave.

Zack changes that though.

He takes Sephiroth by the wrist one day, tells him that they need to leave. They’re poisoning themselves by standing. Who knows how much longer they would be able to stay standing if they remained put? What if one of them crippled next? Sank into the shadow of Genesis and Angeal….? Zack vehemently states that he’s not willing to lose Sephiroth. Not another best friend. And he wasn’t going to wait around for that to happen.

Still…. there’s that flicker of hesitance in Sephiroth’s eyes. That fear. That uncertainly. Still tied to those ropes, seemingly forever bound. The overwhelming weight in his chest, the thundering thoughts, trying to process a world where he would… where he would be—

Zack squeezes his wrist tight.

“Don’t worry, bud. You will never be alone. I promise.”

And Sephiroth knows then that it will never be broken.

They both agree that leaving civilly, and safely, is the best course of action. Gaia knows they don’t need troops of SOLDIERs dogging them for the rest of their lives. So it’s up to the President’s Office they go. ShinRa is startled, for one thing—a reaction that quickly whets into a cold, angry denial of their request. Losing Sephiroth? Losing Sephiroth?

But the fortunate reality is that Sephiroth is a cosmic warrior with the strength of a thousand radioactive elephants, and there’s nothing ShinRa can truly do when he resorts to pointing Masamune at him. Tells him that he was to not come after him, or his treasured friend. Tells him to pass the message to Hojo. ShinRa has no choice, ultimately, lest he want to unwittingly mirror a much bleaker future. He lets them go.

Goodbyes are exchanged all throughout SOLDIER. Zack goes through a line, hugging all his buddies he made over the years. Promises Cloud that he will amount to amazing things, and he will be there to see it. Promises Aerith he will call every day. There’s a ceremony held for Sephiroth’s retirement, only about 1/3 of the SOLDIERs shedding tears—plus a mystery droplet shed by one of the Turks.

And then, after the final goodbyes, Zack & Sephiroth are off. Away from ShinRa. Away from the cage. They eventually settle in Gongaga, after several days and nights of travel and stargazing and campfires and sleeping bags, and Zack tearily reunites with his parents. Seph is initially awkward, feels out of place. But his parents welcome him with open arms. Not starstruck, not a trace of fright or anxiety. Zack had written countless letters home in the past, and the last several had only described his best friend in glowing light. How kind he was. How thoughtful. How much more he was than simply a face on a poster. He wrote about how much they had been through. How he become his brother…. family. And how he would one day be able to prove it to them.

Sephiroth is soon given his own room, just across from Zack’s—a fact that they are both very grateful for, Zack constantly coming into Seph’s room in the middle of the night when he can’t sleep and Sephiroth always able to check on him when he needs to. Disregarding these things, however, Sephiroth ends up spending much less time in it than he would have expected. It’s a clear-cut opposite from his more secluded time in SOLDIER, addled with days where he never left his room or the office. Here, he’s out in the sunshine with Zack almost every day. They fish for dinner, they take walks through the jungle, they fight off local monsters, they help the neighbors and their children and even check on the Reactor when they can (discovering a malfunction and thankfully tending to it immediately).

Weeks fade into months, months fade into a year, a year fades into several, and Zack & Sephiroth are still safe and sound in Gongaga. All of the initial awe that the residents once possessed, it had long withered away. Sephiroth is accepted as an official member of the village. Accepted as a person. A resident. People wave good morning to him when he leaves the house each morning, and he waves back. Zack can’t be any happier <3.

While most of their SOLDIER roots have been severed over the years, there are still threads of their lives that are simply too strong to be broken. Such as sparring, for instance; Zack & Sephiroth still enjoy getting their blood rushing with spars, clanging and clashing their old blades without any stakes or rivalry or competition. It’s all in good fun, for old times sake, as well as delivering some solid, riveting entertainment to the villagers. Still, even though their spars stayed alive, countless of other aspects of their old lives had long evolved and changed. It was a gradual process, getting Sephiroth to shift clothes. But ultimately he assimilated into much more climate-appropriate t-shirts and pants. He eats meals much more regularly, practically eating a healthy three every day. He is also sleeps sounder than he ever had in his life.

Life in the Fair houseshold changes a little as well. It becomes tighter. Closer. Like home. Sephiroth is treated like a true son, loved and looked after by Zack’s parents. And Sephiroth comes to love them in turn. It’s still magical to think about, sometimes, when he’s lying in bed with Zack by his side…. How he can be so lucky. To think he had once think he had nothing, in the early stages of his life. No mother. No father. No siblings to speak of. He clutches his friend tighter, resting his head against the bed of raven spikes.

And now he has the entire world in his hands.

More years go by. A decade. Maybe two. Due to the Jenova cells still in his body, Sephiroth ages quite gracefully, his physical appearance hardly changing as he climbs into his 40s. Both Zack & Sephiroth begin to lose their energy and drive to spar, engaging in the activity less and less and less. But that is not to say it’s not made up by other activities. The two love to travel, frequently visiting Midgar to reunite with Aerith and Kunsel (outside the walls of ShinRa). Those two aren’t the only people they check up on, however. Zack eventually learns that Cloud has moved back to Nibelheim, and eagerly convinces Sephiroth to go on another trip across the continent—a trip that Sephiroth happily agrees to. Though Sephiroth has a lingering headache throughout the visit, everything is smooth-sailing; Zack is ecstatic to learn that Cloud has a girlfriend, Sephiroth sharing the same pride and happiness for his old cadet. They stay for a few days, resting at the inn. Eating local food. Laughing about how Sephiroth is finally wearing a shirt. And then it’s back home.

Home…. Sephiroth can’t help but say to himself, stepping back through the front door and shrugging his luggage off. He says it every time he enters. Every time he walks through that foyer. Every time his parents come to greet them back. Every time Zack slings an arm around his shoulder, thanking him for coming along. He says it every time…. because somehow the magic never fades away.

Home…. Sephiroth repeats to himself. I’m finally home.

FFVII Rebirth spoilers below the cut:

So theory time: Omni-Aerith (as Max dood has dubbed her) = the Aerith that Cloud did save in the branch divide formed in the clash w/ Sephiroth. The one that got to continue growing in power, knowledge, and control as a Cetra to rise to equal or greater than Sephiroth is. Basically she didn't get stopped at Cetra lvl 35 (or whatever the level would've been cause its been a few years since I played OG) but had the time to get all the way to Cetra lvl 99 (or maybe 999 xD). She's the one that pops up in the finale fight of Rebirth; the one that doesn't coddle Cloud with his hero complex choosing to risk telling him to leave things to her instead causing him to have a mental meltdown due to said hero complex being shaken; and will likely ultimately be the one that stops Sephiroth. Even more to this is that because of her arriving for the finale battle showing Seph her potential, which fits with his "I underestimated you." line towards her. It could line up with his motivation to seek her out from across the multiverse to stop any other "Omni-Aeriths" from happening.

This also plays into the checking off boxes idea as a branch version of Aerith did die at Forgotten Capital just like or maybe even is the OG timeline; while also delivering on the Remake's hope, new, bigger, and "fuck fate" ideas via the other branchline that has her living. I firmly stand in the camp of "fuck repeating the same damn 20+ year old story w/ its bad end route"; instead wanting to have a new long-waited for good end route. One that will overall balance things by giving the universe a much needed good ending, alongside not in replacement of the bad end route, w/ a message about "valuing and fighting for life" to go with "acceptance of death as a natural thing" to wrap up the complete story. Rather than a fatalistic half-story that everyone has already seen or can see. Also the idea of Sephiroth merging the worlds means the villain wins, which furthers the fatalism angle. So like truly there would be no aspect of hope or anything outside of "well the world is shit".

inb4 anyone tries to come in with assertions I'm a new fan: I've been following the game since probably 1999 or close to it and have gone through most if not all of the Compilation. I'm also someone that never joined the club that gets a tingle in the pants over Aerith's death or makes it out to be some "has to happen" thing, cause if one actually looks over the story it doesn't actually. I also don't put the darker elements of FF7 as the entire core of it ignoring the other parts. I'm someone that loves the multiverse grandness of Remake-trilogy; someone that has been wanting a good end route for 20+ years; and someone that knows FF7 has more light moments than dark where the light is what kept me in the universe. I'm also someone that thanks to OG FF7 will never kill a substantial character in any creative work I work on, cause fuck that.

Also this goes into a different game from the 99 era comes to mind that also canonically ran with its bad end route in Shadow Hearts. In its sequel that involved a time travel mechanic, it did an incredibly creative thing in also making the good end route canon too in a 2nd run. Namely: Shadow Hearts 1 = canon bad end where the main femme dies due to the male MC not knowing about her fate and as a result of something tied to him -> Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant = the MC from SH1 shutdown after the loss from the first game seeking death but also given a chance to see her briefly again to say share "I love you" then proceeds into the canon good ending that sends the MC back -> Shadow Hearts 1 (2nd run) the MC (and player from a meta perspective) know the bad end (and players have likely have looked up the criteria to get the good end) and while not shown does so to save the main femme this time around. So don't tell me this shit can't be done especially in a dark ass RPG cause Shadow Hearts is DARK af with some of its stuff.

What’s your opinion on how the Remnants represent Sephiroth in pieces? Watching AC, I feel like they suggest that Sephiroth is internally a chaotic storm of emotions and with a longing for his mother crowning it all. All three of the Remnants are so obsessed with their mother even though they vary in personality and that scene where Kadaj loses his mind over Jenova’s “death” is sooo poignant and painful. You can see how big of an issue it is for Sephiroth I guess.

They're all aspects of Sephiroth's insanity, as well as his feelings of maternal abandonment.

Kadaj represents his charisma, deviousness, and command, but is also incredibly petulant and unstable. He can be clever and resourceful, but is also very volatile. He's also the most in-tune to the idea of familial ties--whether that's Cloud, Jenova, etc.

Loz is Sephiroth's strength and skill, but is also his lack of emotional development, being the biggest blubbering baby of the three. He's threatening on the outside, but little more than an overgrown toddler on the inside, constantly crying and feeling lost without direction. He's good at taking orders, much in the way Sephiroth was good at taking orders.

Yazoo is Sephiroth's alluring nature and deceptiveness. He seems like the calmest and most stoic of the trio but goes absolutely apeshit whenever you least expect it. He seems unfazed by a lot of things, but it's just a ruse to hide a darker nature.

They're all angry, violent children that want their mother, and will do anything to reach her. There's something to be said at the fact that Kadaj dislikes Sephiroth--perhaps that's projection on some level. There's also a fun theory in the community that they also all resemble Sephiroth, Angeal, and Genesis, lingering shadows of Seph's old friend circle. But that's purely a coincidence hehe.

This was Al's first real homecooked meal since moving into this house a few days ago.

No... that wasn't quite it either. It would be his first home cooked meal ever. And it smelled better than any of the gross nutrient-dense and tasteless food the scientists fed him. It smelled even better than the pre-packaged and pre-cooked stuff he had eaten during the long trip here and during the long days before the kitchen was clean enough to use.

He settled at the low table they were using as a dining table in the living area. That too was strange to get used to. Sitting on the floor while at the table. But that was only temporary, until a proper dining table was in the kitchen. Though he didn't mind it. He quite liked it. He liked the little pillow he sat on.

Al took his spoon in hand and carefully scooped up the broth. Blowing on it a little to cool it before tasting it. It was warm going down. Settling in his stomach then spread out over his body. It tasted of both things he knew-- of chicken and noodles. And of things he didn't know. The tiny green veggies and seasonings. But it was good.

Suddenly, however, he was overwhelmed with feelings he didn't know how to name. It all welled up until it all spilled out in hot tears that blurred his vision. He tried to wipe at them but only more fell. He could feel hands on his shoulders and on his back, trying to sooth him.

But it wasn't sadness, not really. It all hit him at once in that moment. He was happy. This was his new home, and he was safe. He wasn't going to be locked in small rooms or tied down on cold metal tables in the lab being poked and prodded. He was wholly and completely safe here. And... he got to eat real food.

I actually have to resist trying out boy names on OCs because they’ll start developing Lore and soon it will be like “no I can’t have that name it is intrinsically tied to the idea of an entirely different life which is not my own.”

So like. I cannot actually take the name Kyle now because my OC Kyle has his own life now. And I would never be able to untangle that in my head. I feel like I would be lying, or like. Even if the character is my own character it would be like when people name their kids after their favourite characters in a show. Which isn’t bad but I feel like I’d have to be like “yeah I’m named after the character I designed when I was depressed” or something. Which is thinking too deep into it but whatever. Names are complicated.

I feel very complicated feelings about names okay. They’re very. Something. I’ve gone by a lot of names in my life honestly. Being an internet tween made me very prone to fake names. But now with gender involved it’s very like. What name do I have.

Who am I? Very deep. Very interesting. I am very bad at naming OCs. I don’t have any idea how to do it. How does one figure out how to have a name? Whether to be comfortable in an identity or not. My dad gave me my name, but I don’t think I can keep it. It hurts a lot. But it feels… absurd to change. But I’ve been known by many many things to many people… weird.

I just got done with his toyhouse profile a few days back! i already started working on Huen's as well! I wanna do profiles for at least 10 of the most important ocs i have :DDD

And what can I say, he's one of my main ocs, has extensive lore and a lot of the main plot is related to him, but here are some fun out of context tidbits abt them:

before he got extra traumatized by the plot, he was a big nerd, he esp loved history!

he doesn't really do well in crowds/loud environments.

because he has 2 types of very powerful magic (for plot reasons, too long to get into how), aside from the magic he was born with, he gets tired easily, has trouble with blood circulation and is more prone to fainting. not to mention he could barely use his magic up until he was like 14.

he doesn't really have any ties to his biological family? most of his relatives are either dead or god knows where.

he's aroace and after the story he also realizes he's agender (cuz doesn't have much time to reflect on his gender identity within the story lol, he's got a lot on his plate as it is). He usually goes by he/him and later starts using they/them as well ^^

he's part shapeshifter, but his powers are limited to only human forms + he can't change his body weight/mass. But it allows him to change his voice for example! (although because of his issues with magic and all, for a big chunk of the story he can barely shapeshift :/)

as it goes for his relations with other ocs: Ellie is his friend/sister, not related by blood, they start out very close and then grow apart, but eventually learn to be family again.

Angele is his friend, she used to have a crush on him when they were like 14, but he never reciprocated (duh) and then because of plot and other personal stuff they became kinda hostile towards each other for a while (but then they talked it out so its good).

David at first was the bane of Seph's existence, but then they bonded over being sadistic and became brothers (and then the plot happens and they hate each other for like 3 years because of something Seph did and later because of David's actions).

Huen manipulated Seph, he originally was facinated by her and they kinda got along (in a way of him thinking she's cool and interesting and her being mildly amused by this child who asks her a lot of questions), but then PLOT HAPPENS, he is "on her side" for a while and then MORE PLOT HAPPENS and he's absolutely terrified of her :))

i have no idea if this made any sense at all, but it should be more coherent on his TH profile. one thing i wanna stress about the profile though, the "summaries" of what happens in the 6 chapters are very vague/skip out a lot of detail, so take them more as a rough guide of how the character progresses, and not the whole story ^^
