A.N: h IM BACK!! With a Senku Ishigami fic!!! He has been plaguing my mind for a month so ermm ywah

★I've rejected affection, for years and years.

At this point everyone knew Senku ishigami was a man of science, he had no time for such illogical things like love. but fate disagreed.

★Now I have it and damn it, it's kind of weird.

When you had first told Senku the words, "I Love You" he was quite shocked, in a good way, of course. a feeling of warmth and affection rose from the dark, mechanical depths of his heart. No one had ever told him that directly, though he knew from their actions and and body language, everyone had their own way of saying I love you, be it platonic or romantic.

It was only natural that he'd be tongue tied when he heard the words "I Love you." Come from your lips. He was hesitant to say it back, the three words feeling foreign 'n weird in his mouth. Never would he have thought he'd say them.

★He tells I'm pretty,

He however, is indifferent to to looks. He doesn't care about the way someone dresses, or how he dresses for that matter. He knows he looks fine.

But for some reason, whenever you were around, he found himself more conscious of his looks and mannerisms. At first he thought it might've just been hormones but never had he felt that way before, so his second thought was you. At the beginning, when you two had first met, he was... Uninterested, to say the least. But as time grew on, he found himself hyper aware and overly embarrassed whenever he did something even just slightly off character Infront of you.

★Dont know how to respond.

When you complimented his knowledge in science, it... Made him feel better, more confident. It wasn't the first time someone had complimented him before but hearing it from you just sounded better, sweeter in his ears. So much so that whenever he'd finish his projects or experiments, he'd always look for your opinion first, his first thought when making something amazing was you.

★I tell him that he's pretty too,

So it was only natural he'd start reciprocating, after all. He isn't some self centered prick, he knows feedback and constructive criticism is important. Though he was a bit hesitant of saying it out loud at first.

"Yo. Y/n." He greets you from behind. Looking at the project you had finally finished. It wasn't overly amazing or perfect, it was fine, it was... You. (In his own words.)

"Heya, Science Guy." You looked over your shoulders to greet him, smiling softly as you wiped your sweaty forehead.

Senku stood beside you, examining it for a while before turning to look at you, hesitating for a while. "Good job, N/n. I'm ten billion percent sure you're getting an A."

★Can I say that? don't have a clue.

He was patiently, (nervously, though he'd never admit it) waiting for your answer. It wasn't usual for him to give out compliments or anything of the sort.

But the way your eyes lit up, the upward curve of your lips, and the way you puffed out your chest and stood straight with confidence?

Yep, he'd have to start complimenting you more often.

"Thanks! Senku."

★With every passing moment, I surprise myself.

At first he doesn't notice it, all the acts of service and words of affirmation he gives to you completely fly over his head. It was only when Gen pointed it out that he finally realised.

"Isn't it so strange?" Gen nudges at Senku with his elbow.

Senku looks up at him in confusion. "What's strange?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Mmm, I don't know. Maybe the way you're a lot more affectionate towards Y/n-Chan than towards anyone else?" He teased, feigning innocence and curiosity.

"Dunno what you're talkin about." Senku shuts him off bluntly.

Gen has an evil smile on his face. "Oh? Then what about that gift you gave them two days ago?Or the week before that? Or when you complimented their technique despite everyone else doing just as well?" He smiles wider.

Senku facepalms, looking at Gen with an uninterested expression. "That's because it's important to reward people for their hard work, Gen."

"And it's because they have been working harder than others."

"Hmmm, is that so~?"

★I'm scared of flies, I'm scared of guys.

When Senku first acknowledged his feelings, they were small, like the bud of a flower waiting to bloom.

But when the petrification happened, the dark void gave his feelings time to ferment and grow stronger. Aside from counting every individual second, you were constantly plaguing his mind, despite his best efforts, sweet images of you and Him constantly threatened to reset the count. But somehow, he managed.

★Someone please help..

And as he broke out of the stone prison, his condition only worsened, (by condition; I mean him wanting to see you again so badly) the many memories you both had together had been modified by his feelings for you and turned sweeter, overly romanticised, if you will.

★Cause I think I'm falling inlove this time,

And it didn't help with the fact that practically everything reminded you of him.

Whenever he needed flowers for dye, boom bam a million memories of the few times he touched your soft skin.

Whenever he saw the sunrise, it reminded him of your smile, the way your eyes would shine whenever he complimented you.

★i blinked and suddenly I had a valentine. (Valentine)

It was all so surreal to him, how he managed to fall in love. someone like him, falling inlove? If you told the Past Senku he woulda laughed in your face, and then go on a rant about how illogical love is blah blah yada yada yada.

But he wasn't complaining, who would complain about having a valentine?

★What if he's the last one I kiss?

You remember it like it was yesterday, the first time you'd have kissed Senku. Though it wasn't hot and steamy like how the forbidden part of your brain thought it'd be. It was more or less, awkward. But sweet nonetheless.

"Sseeeeeeeennnnnkkkuuuuuuuuuu. . ." You poked at his face, trying to pry his attention off of his experiment.

"aaaaaaAAAAAAAAA. What is it now, N/n." He groaned exasperatedly. Carefully setting down the glass jar.

"I have a question." You smiled deviously.

Senku groaned even louder, glaring at you with the most uninterested face ever. "No a car will not pull itself if you attach a magnet Infront of it, My hair-"

"No— Senku that's not—"

"—my hair stands up because I style it that way, and—"

"sENKU" you shout exasperatedly, finally getting his attention.

"What?" He stares at you annoyedly.

"Can I kiss you?" You finally ask, suddenly seeming very serious, as if you were playing mario cart with Senku's competitive ass.

Senku's eyes widened in shock, though he immediately resumes his calm, uninterested expression. "Mmmmh.. Nah." He turns back to focus on his work with a smug smirk on his face.

Already imagining the dumbstruck expression on your face, nearly doubling over laughing as he can basically hear you pout through your voice.

"wHy not?" You ask, nudging his shoulder until you get his attention.

"Because I'm busy." He deadpans.

"Too busy for just a little peck?" You tap on his shoulder to get him to look at you, then using the most girly voice you could muster:

"Pretty pleaseeeeeee??" You put your hands together to seem more convincing.

It's effective! Senku ishigami loses -10 billion willpower! (Cmon now we all know he's soft on the inside)

Senku Inhales deeply before letting out the most obnoxious exhale you've ever seen. "Fine." He grumbles. He turns his body to face you, still slightly hesitant.

He leans in slightly, waiting for you to reciprocate. When you finally get over your inner fan-girling, you lean in a little too fast and end up bumping foreheads with Senku.

He rubs the place where you two bumped in a an attempt to sooth it.

"I—im sorry! I didn't mean to. ." You look down shamefully. Little did you know that, as soon as Senku recovered, that awesomely big science brain of his conjured a devious plan. (His words not mine)

When you least expected it, he brought his hands up to your cheeks, gently making you look at him. Before he leans in and kisses you softly on the lips.

It was short but sweet. When he leaned away, he took a moment to admire your starstruck expression, smirking at his accomplishment.

Before you could respond, he tries to lick his lips as sneakily as possible so you wouldn't see. (You saw it)

"That good enough for you?"

★What if he's the only one I'll ever miss?

You knew what love felt like, (mostly from TV shows but anyway) and it was nice. But, you'd never chase it, yeah sure it makes you feel all nice and warm and cozy. You'd miss it for a little while, all the affection n sappiness. But life goes on,

That is, until you met Senku.

As you grew closer to him, you had the strong urge to be near him, closer to him. He plagued your thoughts 24/7, him and his stinky, unique, Leek hair, it was quite obvious you loved him. How could you not?

The way his eyes lit up whenever he talked about science, the determination in his eyes to finish some project of his, his... Brash and oftentimes rude personality, though you knew better. He only cared.

★Maybe I should run? I'm only 21.

Sometimes it was hard, Loving Senku. Not because he made it hard, No No, in fact it was all too easy to love him. Before you confessed to Senku, thoughts of rejection constantly plagued your mind.

Senku was a man of science, no way he'd reciprocate your feelings, right?

And so you thought just blocking them out was the right way to go, though it only allowed your feelings to get stronger and stronger until it overpowered you.

★I don't even know who I want to become.

Senku was a straightforward guy, that's one thing you admired about him. This feeling only cemented when he proudly and confidently declared he was gonna revive the human race. Despite knowing Senku for a long time, it still shocked you. Though, it would throw off anyone really.

★I've lost all control, with my heartbeat now.

One thing was for sure though, you both loved eachother. Despite Senku being a bit stiff about affection sometimes, it was clear he loved you in other ways.

whenever he looks at you, so softly, so lovingly. And that smile you knew was reserved for you and you only. It never failed to make your heart race. Whenever he complimented you, or, use the teasing banter you two always had to indirectly say "I love you"

★Got caught in a romance with him, somehow.

It was all so surreal to you, Senku? Loving you back? If you told anyone that they'd look at you as if you were insane, probably because it was an insane statement by itself. Never thought it'd say Senku and Love in the same sentence unless it was "Senku loves science".

You weren't complaining however, a life without Senku would be utterly, thoroughly, mundane.

It was already late at night, you were both laying on the grass, enjoying the stars in the sky that were previously covered by light pollution 3700 years ago. You and Senku were laying down silently against each other, enjoying this brief moment together before the morning came and Senku had to go back to his duties as the chief.

"Hey, Senku." You turn to look at him, he sighs quietly as if to prepare himself for your shenanigans once more.

"Hm?" He hums, still staring at the sky,only tilting his head ever so slightly towards you to let him know he was listening.

"Why is it that love makes you "dumb"?"

"Because, N/n, the feeling you get around someone you love is actually the brain producing the hormones called, 'serotonin', 'dopamine', 'oxytocin', and 'endorphins'." He turns to look at you to see if you're still listening, instead he finds you staring at him Intently, with the most loving gaze ever.

He freezes for a moment before continuing, a tiny of pink on the tips of his ears.

"So when the brain inevitably gets accustomed to releasing chemicals around that person it will do nearly everything to be around them, making the person do or think irrationally and illogically."

"No wonder why I'm so "Stupid" around you." You smile cheekily.

Senku scoffs before looking back up at the sky, "nah, I'm pretty sure you're just stupid in general."

"Not nice, You leekhead!"

"Since when was I nice? And stop calling me leekhead."

★I still feel a shock, Through every bone.

It still shocks Senku to his core that he managed to fall inlove, someone like him? Inlove? He even took such serious measures to insure he'd never fall inlove.

But he's glad he's let his guard down this time, cause if he didn't? He would never have gotten to Love you.

★When I hear an "I love you" cause now I've got someone to lose.

When he first (directly) said I love you, it nearly short-circuited your brain. He rarely said it, usually because he saw no reason to since he knew you knew he loved you already.

Despite it only being three words it held a deep meaning in both of your hearts, a reminder that no matter what happens you're both there for eachother.

★The first one to ever like me back,

It wasn't the first time you've had a crush before, though you haven't been through alot of romantic relationships, or any at all.

So when you decided to finally confess to Senku, him accepting the confession was the last thing you'd thought he'd do.

★I'm seconds away from a heart attack.

It never failed to catch Senku by surprise whenever you'd outwardly state you loved him,

Not to say he didn't enjoy it, of course he did. Though he'd rather die than admit it.

All those times you'd randomly bombard him with affection and praises, it sent butterflies to his stomach.

"Bill Nye the science guy! Whatcha doin?" You'd exclaim as you walked towards him.

He sighed before looking back at you, "was "Science leek", "leekhead", or "leek-haired" not enough?" He stares at you with the most tired face ever, though it was actually quite the opposite of what he was feeling.

"Shshhshhhhhsh, anyway, whatcha doing?" You playfully put a finger over his lips to shut him up. Chuckling when he sends a glare your way.

He slaps the hand away before finally talking, "I'm making a robot from scratch. It's ten million percent hard and ten billion percent exhilarating." He smirks.

He rants about all the parts and materials he's gonna need and all their uses, what they do, and how exhilarating this is.

"And then-" he gets briefly cut off when you place a soft kiss on his forehead, then his nose, and his cheek. As his brain slowly starts realising, he can feel his face heating up. Though he immediately recovers and instead the tips of his ears become red.

"Oops, my bad. You're just so cute when you rant yknow?" You smirk smugly, aware of what you just did. The smirk on your face only grows wider as you take in Senku's confused face.

As you were lost in the blinding bliss of finally managing to catch Senku off guard, he suddenly leans in close to you and presses a soft kiss to the edge of your lips, missing your lips entirely.

He mirrors the expression you had as he gives you a taste of your own medicine. "Oh sorry, you're just so adorable when your all confident and proud like that, couldn't help myself."

"You're lucky I love you, Leek boy."

"I must be the luckiest Leek in the world then."

★How the hell did I fall inlove this time? And honestly I can't believe I get to call you mine.

He still can't believe he fell inlove, especially with you, no offense, he loves you and would probably die for you but he always thought he'd be most likely to date someone with more knowledge in science,

But, he'd much rather have your curiosity and enthusiasm to learn over someone who already knows.

★I blinked and suddenly I had a valentine.

He stands there in awe, wondering what he could've done to deserve you. He thinks about all the time you've done something for him even though you didn't have to. All those times you've listened to him rant during a phone call, all those times you'd help him carry some "heavy" stuff. Even though it was actually light and Senku just has the muscles of a twig.

He looks at the telescope and the gift you made personally for him, a little star carved out of wood. You two would spend forever in his room gazing at the stars through his old telescope. He smiles softly at the star before looking back up to meet yours.

"Happy birthday, Senku."

So you know how Xeno is Senku’s mentor? What if Stanley was our Mentor? He mentored us similar to Senku before the Stone Age and now we’re with the kingdom of science.

You’re originally from America and back in the old world, in your teenage years, you were a regular at a local shooting range near your school. You were very interested in the art of shooting a gun, so much so that you’re also a great FPS player. But you prefer the real deal.

One time, a competition was being held at your local shooting range, so naturally you signed up.

Your skills astounded everyone, even those who were older than you.

You naturally won the competition, and decided to stay back to get some more shots in.

That's when a guy with blonde hair stood next to you and shot all the targets with a bullseye before you could even blink.

You were shocked, and you looked up at the man

“Wha-” you stammered, impressed by this man’s marksmanship. You stared at him in awe, “I watched your game, you’re quite the natural” The man complimented, facing towards you. ‘Oh damn, he’s pretty’ you thought, “oh.. Uhm… Thanks, it's a hobby, I guess” you answered.

“Is that so…” He trails off, “Were you the one who shot those bullseyes in a flash? How’d you do it?!” you asked excitedly, getting over your shyness. “I’m in the US Military.” He answered, shocking you. A military officer just complimented your skills? “Wait, really? That’s so cool! Thank you for serving our country!” You exclaimed.

“I’m Stanley by the way, Stanley Snyder” He introduced, “I’m Y/N L/N, nice to meet you!” you replied. “I probably shouldn’t be doing this, but honestly, why not? Hey, want me to show you a few tips and tricks? You’ve got skills, it'd be a shame to not see them prosper.” He offered, making your eyes wide. You nod aggressively with a smile.

Whenever he had free time, he’d meet you at the range. Sometimes, he’d take you hunting or to paintball to test your improvement. He’s taught you about different guns, about how to properly feel for where the bullet will go by knowing how the wind affects it and all that other stuff. Since then, you’ve joined lots of tournaments and won.

Unfortunately, your family had to move to Japan, and Stanley was being deployed on a mission, so your time together was up for the meantime, however, you made him promise to you that he’d keep in contact whenever he can, and he agreed.

Fast forward to Japan where you met Senku, Taiju and Yuzuriha when you transferred to their school. Taiju recognized you as the famous junior marksman. You easily fit right into their small friend group.

The day of the petrification, you were in the science lab along with Senku, just playing a shooting game on your phone after Taiju barged in and did the whole Yuzuriha confession spiel, and that's when you noticed the green light.

You were revived by Tsukasa, after Minami said that your marksmanship can help with hunting, along with Ukyo’s.

As confused as you were, Taiju and Yuzuriha filled you in on everything that’s been happening, and obviously you sided with the Kingdom of Science.

Since then, your new weapon of choice has been a bow and arrow since no other projectiles were present. You aided the Kingdom with hunting for food. As well as in battle during the treasure island arc.

After the treasure island arc, Senku made you your own gun.

Background done, let’s move on to the New America City Arc.

You and your friends were just minding your business when Tsukasa asked everyone to get into cover because a plane was shooting at your boat.

Despite the initial fright, you grew excited, knowing that the big guns are back in the world, but grew scared again once you remembered that it's the enemy team that has them.

When you saw the plane flying a bit lower, you grabbed your gun and took a shot towards its engine. Hitting it and making it crash in the forest.

Now, this was your new friends’ first time seeing your gun skills since you’ve been using the bow and arrow. So they were shocked when you hit the mark.

“Y/N-chan?!” Gen screamed in shock, Yo’s eyes were bulging out, and Ryusui was laughing out loud. “Well done, marksman. That ten billion percent took out their engine” Senku exclaimed with a smirk.

After that whole incident, you, Kohaku, Chrome, and Gen were sent to pursue the plane’s pilot. However, Gen asked Kohaku and Chrome to stand back, and asked you to come with him but to leave your weapons.

You eventually found the person, with Gen going into panic, but you just stared at the man in shock.

“Stan…ley?!” You whispered, although apparently enough for him to hear and set his eyes on you, which widened at the sight of his old student. “Ah, I didn’t expect our next meeting to be like this.” He said, “you know each other?!” Gen exclaimed in surprise, “He’s my mentor.” You answered.

“Well, I'll need you two to come with me. I got a whole heap of questions. Bet you’ve got some too. So, How about you come meet our leader?” Stanley said, walking towards their base. Gen looked at you, letting you know that this mission is a now or never deal.

He brought you to their base, where you met Dr.Xeno, who you remembered from before when Stanley would tell you about his childhood best friend. After threatening Gen, he looked down at you. “And you?” he asked. “Y/N L/N, pleasure to finally meet you, Dr.Xeno.” You said in a calm voice to help with your situation once you realised that you were being read on a Polygraph test.

“Oh? That name’s quite familiar.” Xeno ponders, looking towards Stanley. “My Mentee back in the old days” Stanley answered. “Ahh, is that so. Yes, I’ve heard quite a lot about you. In that case, this will make this whole thing easier.” Xeno said, a smirk on his face.

“You of all people should know how dangerous my dear Stan is, so it will be in your best interest to comply with us.” Xeno stated, his back towards us. “Yes, I understand. Although, I haven’t been with the group for long, so I don’t think I can give you much information” You answered calmly again, as if you were stating facts.

After the whole act Gen put on, with him revealing that Dr.Taiju was the lead scientist, you were let free to go for the time being while Xeno gets ready to talk to the Kingdom of Science.

“Yow, Y/N. It’s been a while, how’re you fairing?” Stanley approached you while you were with Gen. “I’ve been better, seem’s you’ve been enjoying life here recently, yeah? I mean, I see you’ve even got machine guns.” You answered with a smile. Although he is your enemy right now, It’s still a great feeling to reunite with your childhood mentor. “Heh, I’m guessing you’re the one who shot down my plane with a single bullet to the engine?” He smirked, looking kinda proud. “So what if it was me? I learned from the best, didn’t I?” you smirked back.

“A person who blindly trusts a person who double-crosses their own people needs an appointment with a head doctor. That said, Y/N, I don’t trust you one bit, we might’ve been Mentor-mentee in the old days, but until your little kiddy science team surrenders, you’re not off the hook.” He states, a serious look in his eyes.

“I knew that much, you’ve always been a cautious person. It’s fine, I’ll just prove myself to you perhaps.” You answered, you knew he wasn’t going to be buddy buddy with you just yet. But it’s worth a shot.

“Mhmm, you do that.” Stanley replies, walking away. As you look at his back profile, you’re reminded of the same person who you’ve bonded with since your childhood. A small smile appears on your lips.

You notice the man stop before the door, looking back at you, you see a small smile of his own, with a hint of pride in his eyes, are you imagining things? Maybe, but his next words shocked you.

“I might not trust you, but that doesn't mean I'm not glad to see you again.”

Hi! I'm Candy (it/its), welcome to my reader-insert and N-S-F-W blog! (Sorry for the dashes, I want to avoid the p0rnbots finding me 😔) Please only follow/interact if you're 18 or older! For Alphabet Requests:

For the sake of keeping what I do sustainable, I no longer write entire alphabets at once on request. Instead, requests for alphabets are limited to up to 4 letters per ask. You can send multiple asks for the same character, but please you send in - if I get too many (like more than 3) for the same character all at once I might ignore or delay some of them especially if I can tell they're from the same person. Please send in separate asks if you'd like to request for more than one character.

Please include in the ask: which character you're requesting for, which alphabet (SFW or NSFW) you're requesting, and the letters you'd like (up to 4). You can also say "dealer's choice" or "you pick" or something and I'll choose 4 letters myself instead.

1. Any NSFW or reader-insert shipping of characters who are minors. Characters must be canonically 18 or older for me to write NSFW or reader insert content of them. Characters who turn 18 over the course of the story are allowed if they spend the majority of the story as adults (so most Dr Stone characters are okay, but not, say, Suika because even though she's grown by the end, she's a child for most of the manga.) Just use your best judgement, really. I may also deny requests for characters who look very young, even if they're canonically adults, and/or have unclear ages (such as Chelsea from Dr Stone) for my own comfort. Platonic and familial requests for minor characters are okay.

2. NSFW or shipping involving real people or personas/role-play characters closely based thereupon. If you know me, you know I'm in some YouTuber fandoms (Hermitcraft mostly), but I don't write about them here. Even if the creator is comfortable with it, I'm not, sorry. I might consider platonic requests for them? But no promises, I'm not sure yet.

3. No incest or p-dophilia; watersports or scat; omegaverse (I don't understand a/b/o dynamics and I don't want to learn)

Senku Ishigami is Aromantic and Asexual and here is why:

Because I'm sick and tired of Senku ships (yes, the queer platonic ones too because he's a loveless AroAce, and the x reader. Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble) and because AroAces deserve good representation where we’re not labled as heartless or boring (because Senku has a heart and is kind, as much as he likes to give snide remarks at times, and is an AMAZING character), I have gathered every instance where Senku shows clear disinterest (and distaste) in romance and sexuality to prove once and for all that he has been 10 billion percent Aromantic and Asexual since day ONE.

I will talk about his responses to romance and physical touch as well as look at his "romantic relationships" throughout the manga (We’re talking about the entire work, so spoilers ahead!!)

I've cited the chapters, as well as have included the panels to which I'm referring in this post so you all can look at the proof yourselves and added the various links too.

Also Happy Pride Month everyone, it’s finally the Aces' Day of it, so it felt right to make the post today!

Now then, get excited!!

On his Sexuality:

Unlike Taiju, Senku seems to averse the idea of romance, already seen in Chapter 1, as he mocks Taiju's interest in, but refusal to act on five year long crush on, Yuzuriha, even having created a "love potion" that actually was petrol and offering it to Taiju. His expression when Yuzuriha was revived in the same dramatic sense as would be in a cliché romance, points to Senkū being very nonplussed by the show of romantic acts as well (Chapter 5).

Senku seemed equally unamused when Tsukasa stated his admiration towards him “Senku, you are… an incredible man.” (Chapter 4), replying to Tsukasa “A man who’d praise another man to his face… is either flirting or scheming. What’re you really trying to say?” (Chapter 4), clearly showing that both the flirting and the scheming are equally unwelcome.

He also mocks Hyoga‘s mannerism during their battle, saying he behaved as if this was some sort of „awkward“ love confession and that he is not interested even if he is „divorced“ (Chapter 80).

Senku claims romance and love to only cause problems due to its highly illogical nature, „A brain clouded by love is the most irrational kind. It leads to nothing but trouble.“, as he explains to Kohaku (Chapter 17) because he mistook her interest in him as romantic. Even saying „Annoying crap like that makes me wanna curl up and die.“.

He instantly dismissed the idea of getting Garnet, Sapphire and Ruby any boyfriends, saying “Not a chance we’ll make one of those with science!!” (Chapter 22) with a very shocked and appalled face.

When it comes to inquiring about his type, he doesn’t give any actual answers, like when Ruby, one of the prettiest girls in the Ishigami Village, asked what his type of girl is and Senku replied, without even paying any attention to her “Girls who can pump tons of oxygen into an iron forge.” (Chapter 23), a blunt answer as Kohaku calls him out on using Ruby’s ‘interest’ for his personal gain with no sincerity or care for Ruby herself.

He also responses to Nikki’s exclamation of possibly falling in love with him with clear repulsion, kindly asking her not to do that and to “nip that bud” (Chapter 66) as he does not want people to have romantic feelings towards himself. As seen with Kohaku and Nikki, he is not afraid of telling people openly that their romantic feelings are not welcomed when directed at himself, trying to kill any aroused feelings towards him as soon as possible.

He also stays unaffected by Amaryllis love confession as she tried to fool them, looking absolutely baffled and repulsed by this advance and act (Chapter 105). Senku cuts Amaryllis off, saying “I’m the one for you? Blah, blah, whatever. Where’s the treasure?” (Chapter 105), showing not even a millimetre of interest in her and being his practical self in search of the Soyuz capsule. Kohaku add to it, saying that Amaryllis has finally “Met her match” (Chapter 105), which shocks Amaryllis, making her exclaim “Resisting my irresistible charms? Is that even possible?” (Chapter 105) as everyone else, including Soyuz and Gen found her very appealing. Gen even claimed that “Dear Senku is immune to those acts” (Chapter 105) before proceeding to flirt with Amaryllis himself. As we later see as well, Amaryllis starts to understand that Senku is uninterested in romance, able to tell from Kohaku hugging him, which Senku does not reciprocate, that he has no romantic interest in others as she says that it’s “not that kind of hug” (Chapter 138).

Senku is apathetic and repulsed to any advances made towards him, as is also later seen with Luna. Every relationship he has had was only due to circumstantial needs and always with a face of pure confusion and / or a certain amount of distaste, like his accidental marriage to Ruri, after Chrome fell unconscious and couldn't fight and he in his stead won their staged battle for the village chief's position, and whom he divorced seconds later, only wanting to take the alcohol of the village to finish the sulfa drug for Ruri (Chapter 39 - 40).

Later on, after he was shot by Stanley, and as an effort to save his comrades as well as his own life, he agrees to Luna's proposal to become her boyfriend, claiming it to be "Sorta like a political marriage!" (Chapter 178), again showing no actual romantic interest in her, which is supported time and time again by characters claiming "that you people don't know Senku at all" if they think his interest in a person is of romantic nature (examples: Chapter 51, Chapter 178).

Chelsea even claims that "Doesn't sound like you're an item to me." (Chapter 178) with Kohaku agreeing that she assumed as much as Senku isn't romantically attracted to anyone. Another example for it is when he wanted to gather information on Homura, who was spying on them, and Ginro thought Senku meant it in a romantic or sexual way, to which Chrome and Kohaku both replied that "No, pretty sure that's not the case. You people don't know Senku at all." (Chapter 51).

When he was a young child and wondered why the moon was following him, Byakuya jokingly insistent on the moon loving him "Having a thing for him" (Chapter 42), to which Senku replied in disgust, claiming that he was "doing serious science" in the Anime and "Huh? Enough bedtime stories. Gimme cold, hard science facts." in the manga with a displeased expression (Chapter 42).

When Luna expressed doubts about her dating Senku, since later was gone working against Xeno, she said "I mean you're not about to tell me... That Senku ten billion percent doesn't give a crap about dating... and would say whatever I want to hear... Just to accomplish his goals, right...? Because obviously nobody'd ever be that outta line... Right?" to which every character present made clear that he does those things, with Kinro adding that "Actually, in order to further his goals, he even went as far as getting married." with Luna expressing shock that he is married, to which Kinro clarified that "Well, then he ended it..." to which she again expressed shock (Chapter 163).

He despises and is disgusted by physical contact, escaping any hugs (Chapter 74) and even threatening Taiju for hugging him buck-naked (Chapter 1). He also shows disgust at Amaryllis act to charm him as she hugs him tightly and expresses her “love” towards him (Chapter 105). Another show of absolute disgust from physical contact being when Kohaku kissed his cheek in an effort to fool Kirisame from discovering that they're intruders and enemies (Chapter 107).

Another strong instance is the amount of disgust he expressed at the thought of having had to cuddle with Magma to prevent hypothermia (Chapter 56), calling it the "Worst-case scenario" and even putting emphasis on it being the worst-case.

At best, Senku exhibits little to no reaction about naked bodies, being very neutral about the fact and rationalising that in an emergency like that, it doesn’t matter whether or not one is naked, making no comments about appearances or the like. The complete opposite of Taiju, who became very worried for Yuzuriha’s comfort, not wanting her to be naked at revival (Chapter 3). He’s equally unimpressed with Ryusui at his revival and the confidence he showed, being more bewildered at Ryusui’s sudden comment about his naked state being “tacky” in front of three beauties (Chapter 85).

There are only a few rare times where he actually allows physical contact, most of them being little touches or even hugs after hard-fought battles or difficult tasks (not counting in the high fives and handshakes since they're not as "intimate" and Senku clearly has no problem with them), such as allowing Kohaku to hug him after defeating Ibara on Treasure Island (Chapter 138), noticeably not hugging her back. Amaryllis in that instance explains how the hug they shared is not of romantic love, saying "No, it isn’t like that. It’s not that kind of hug.“ when Gen claimed that Kirisame still thinks they're a couple when they absolutely aren't.

Another time being that he allows Suika, after seven years of her trying to break the second world-wide petrification event, to hug him (Chapter 196, start of Chapter 197), as well as Taiju and Chrome, after they seized victory and regained control of the Miracle Cave (Chapter 75). Here Inagaki himself confirmed that Senku is not the type of person to be considerate of others feelings, so he doesn't hug back. Even in the special chapter Senkū doesn't hug Kohaku back while lost on sea and doesn't even blush, despite the circumstances, which Kohaku calls out (Chapter 232.5).

When during the Communications Arc they catch Homura, to avoid her informing the Tsukasa Empire of Senku's recreation of telephones, Senku pinned her to the ground, to which Homura told him to be careful where he touches with Senku replying "That won't work on me, so drop the act." (Chapter 62), having her show a defeated face that Senku exhibited no reaction in being in such a compromising position. He also implies that he is not one of the men Homura can flirt with even after civilisation is up again (but considering her own affections towards Hyoga, she also wouldn’t try) "After our scientific civilization is up and running, there'll be plenty of impressionable young boys for you to flirt with.".

Senku, unlike other characters, has never been stated to be or have been in any romantic entanglement before the petrification event either in the Q&As (Big example in Volume 22 or 23 as seen in this translation from Reddit, the link is at the end of the post), as well as the relationship chart from Chapter 179, where love interests are shown, but Senkū himself has none because he’s not attracted to anyone romantically.

Even with the fanbook, the types of people each character enjoy are general statements, not indicative of romantic/sexual attraction considering that most characters talk about and say "people" in general. Senkū's for example are "people who do what needs to be done", which is reflected by the people he's surrounded by, as he says he likes those who quickly catch onto the situation, for example Ryūsui and Stanley, who get a verbal shout-out (Chapter 85, Chapter 221) since Senkū values intelligence.

He has yet to refer to himself as being in a relationship with anyone too and by the end of the manga, Senku stays single with his sole focus still being science, confirmed by Luna still trying to win Senku over, showing she hasn’t had any success in the past years since they first met (Chapter 232).

Senku's sole interest has been in science and science alone. Rather he exploits the romantic entanglements of others for himself, like getting Chrome on his site to make his Kingdom of Science grow using Chrome's attraction to Ruri (Chapter 21). The only two instances of him being in a relationship have been purely accidental and / or of strategic nature to reach a goal.

As seen in the Spin-off Chapters which notably take another few years after the series’ main storyline conclusion, Senku is still not in any sort of relationship. When Chelsea asks after Ruri and Chrome’s wedding whether Senku has any “romantic prospects” himself, to which he looks clearly confused and irritated going “Huh?” (Spin-off, Chapter 1, also see panel above). Moreover, he straight up says himself that “You oughta know I ain’t got the time for all that.” (Spin-off, Chapter 1) when Kohaku suggests she wouldn’t mind (which also doesn’t sound like she’s romantically interested either, and regards it more like another duty to fulfill). Afterwards any sort of romantic discussion for Senku is promptly shut down and never brought up again as the series reaches its final conclusion. Senku also agrees to Whyman’s statement that the “Heart and Emotions are just sophisticated programming to persevere social groups”, saying “Yep. No lies detected.” (Spin-off, Chapter 3), which mirrors exactly what he also told Kohaku when they first met in Chapter 17. It shows that to Senku STILL after over 10 years, these type of emotions are not something he regards with any positivity nor interest on his part.

On Ruri:

Never mind that Ruri herself isn’t interested in Senku, their accidental marriage due to Chrome fainting before he and Senku could finish their staged fight for the position of village chief and Ruri's husband was solely completed on Senku's part to get his hands on the resources necessary for the completion of the sulfa drug to save Ruri's life, claiming “Aaargh… This just got a whole lot more annoying“. He divorced her barely a few seconds in, as he wasn't allowed to leave the village due to his "marriage celebration" to which he instantly uttered "Then I demand a divorce" (Chapter 40) before taking off with Kaseki, Kohaku and the alcohol to complete the drug. Ever since their divorce has been referenced as pure comedic effect, even from Senku when he ridiculed Hyoga during their fight saying "What is this, an awkward confession of love at school? Hate to break it to you, but I'm married. Well, divorced... But still." (Chapter 80) as the other wanted to Senku to join forces with him. Kinro confirmed later on that the marriage was only "to reach his goals" (Chapter 163).

On Luna:

Their relationship is very one-sided on Luna's part, as Senku does not refer to Luna as his relationship partner, nor exhibits any interest in her that goes beyond her usefulness, as the only one with surgical and medical knowledge and skills, and as an ally. When Luna expressed her doubts about their arrangement saying "I mean you're not about to tell me... That Senku ten billion percent doesn't give a crap about dating... and would say whatever I want to hear... Just to accomplish his goals, right...? Because obviously nobody'd ever be that outta line... Right?" with everyone in her vicinity making clear that he did and that it's not his first time, as he got married to Ruri to "Further his goals'' as Kinro explains to Luna (Chapter 163). Senku calls their arrangement to be like a "political marriage" (Chapter 178), again clearly showing that there are no romantic or sexual feelings on his part towards her. Chelsea, as well as other characters, have noted that they aren't or don't seem like being in a relationship (Chapter 178) and Kohaku agreeing with her, claiming "This is Senku we're talking about, so I assumed as much" (Chapter 178), the only one claiming it to be one being Luna herself who is a very idealistic romantic herself, blind towards Senku's disinterest in romance and sexuality.

Senku has shown multiple times throughout the entire work his disinterest and open distaste towards both romantic and sexual advances, actively saying that love creates problems and is illogical next to stating that crushes and love is "Annoying crap" and makes him want to "curl up and die" (Chapter 17), next to openly telling Homura that her flirting and attempt to embarrass him on an intimate level "does not work on me" (Chapter 62) He has equally as often shown time and time again that he despises any kind of physical contact, referring to it twice as "worst-case scenario" (Chapter 56) even if it could save his life. Also evading every sort of attempted hug and showing displeasure at even a fake kiss on the cheek in a situation where he was forced to pretend being in a relationship (Chapter 107). Just like Ryusui has been only through the work itself confirmed as interested in both women and men, Senku has been confirmed to be aromantic and asexual through his open distaste towards romance and sexuality which is also called out in his own wikia.

Senku's "romantic" relationships have been purely for strategic purposes, mostly to literally save a or his own life.

Senku's sole interest lies in science and his self-proclaimed job and goal to save all of humanity, exhibiting zero interest in romance, sex or any sort of the like. He's a loveless AroAce. However, he can and does form strong friendships, caring for the people in his life in his own special kind of way.

this idea is one of those shards that i'm gifted at times of night when i'm supposed to be asleep 💀 i realized it would only work best in an x reader format, so here it is! still had fun tho since it felt more like character study than anything lmao

anyway i did the early KoS for this <3 will probably be unable to stop myself to do a part 2 with the tsuka empire!

characters: ishigami senku, ooki taiju, ogawa yuzuriha, kohaku, chrome, asagiri gen, + mini bonuses at the end!

cw: gn!reader, safe for anime only's, fluff, kind of implied romance but it's not at all explicitly... romantic?? just sweet,, so u can take it platonically if u want

"senku, what do you really want?"

naturally, "swoon" is much too strong a word for senku, but those words sure bring him close

of all the technical and practical questions people ask, you choose to go to him with—get this—a personal inquiry in genuine curiosity

and you're sure as hell not going to accept the same "save all seven billion people and restore humanity" mantra that he chants near-religiously

so as senku stalls you with a dry, "what, am i being interviewed now?" it strikes him hard that he wants a lot of things

to see the stars. to laugh with taiju and yuzu and gen and all the others. to rebuild funny modern gadgets with chrome and kaseki. to live a bit more normal again. to hear his dad's voice one more time. to—

shit, could he really tell you all that?

he realizes that's one of the things he wants, too. to just tell you, to make sure another human knows that even his calculated heart aches for things he knows he simply can't have

so when he looks back at you, with your tilted head and die-hard curious eyes, he thinks that one of these days, he will end up opening up

"taiju, i'd spend everyday with you."

at first, he merely blinks, stuck between whether to think "well duh" versus "oh my god really?"

he ends up settling on the latter, squeezing you in one of those all-too-familiar bear hugs and undeniably touched that you found the need to tell him something so sweet

you'd think that letting one single thought sit in his brain for too long would make it go stale, but really, it's the best way for him to process it to its fullest extent

so it's only a bit later on (after he tosses your words left and right inside his head) that taiju realizes that it means that your care for him overrides any and all of his flaws and antics

it's a reminder that you do want to see him everyday, and that you'd never get sick of him even if you did

and that... well, that tugs straight at his heartstrings, making him tear up faster than he thought possible

so at times when he worries even just the least bit that he's being overbearing, he only has to remember what you said on one very specific day

and when he does, you best expect that you will get scooped up in another hug out of nowhere

"yuzuriha, i don't know what i'd do without you."

she's well overworked at this point of the day, and you insist that this tiny, tiny, super insignificant favor of mending your shirt can wait until tomorrow, or even the next day, really!

but yuzu is stubborn and insists—she insists that she still has the energy and that it'd be a waste of concentration if she doesn't do it now

you can only stand outside the tent until she comes out a couple minutes later and hands the garment to you, good as new

so you say it, quietly and out of breath, as if you're the one who had just expended all their energy quite literally fixing up other people's problems

she has to take a moment to completely process your words, and only then does she take your hands in hers in silent gratitude

surely anyone sensible can realize that they'd be lost without her expertise, and yet it's few and far between that she's reminded how irreplaceable she is

but yuzuriha also understands that you're not just talking about her skills; you'd undoubtedly be completely, utterly lost without this girl you hold so dearly

and when you gingerly wipe the sweat off her forehead and hand her a glass of water, she's dead sure that all she strives for is more than worth it

"kohaku, you make me feel safe."

immediately, pride swells through her veins; but there's another fuzzy feeling somewhere in her chest that she can't exactly name

there's some deja vu from the feeling of when ruri squeezes her in a warm, cozy embrace after thanking her for the millionth time for all she's done

as well as the feeling of when suika looks up at her with sparkling eyes behind her lenses and the admiration one could only have for a big sister

but... there's still something else. this feeling is still somehow different from those, if that makes sense?

despite the mild confusion, kohaku does the single logical thing to her: she's direct to you about it

"you're... wow," she starts, a small smirk playing at her lips, "you really are special, huh?"

almost instantly, you fumble over your own feet in surprise, but she's quick to laugh it off and catch you in a hug; she wouldn't know what she'd do with herself if you didn't realize just how much she meant it

a fierce protector through and through—kohaku is well aware that that's what she is, but coming from you, the sentiment means double than what it already is

"chrome, teach me!"

his excitement for this upcoming project is contagious, and senku would chew you out for not doing anything, so you might as well learn how to help get it up and running

the words slip from your mouth with zero hesitation—they're so simple, yet chrome genuinely can't wrap his head around what it does to him

he's admittedly so used to everyone else defaulting him to the backseat role of little brother figure, so it's such a refreshing splash of water to the face to finally be the one being looked up to

he has to bite his lip to try and put a lid on the giddiness that surges through him at the idea

seriously, you, asking to learn something new from him? he hasn't felt this much adrenaline since that real baaad sulfurina incident

you wave a hand in his face, yanking his thoughts back to earth with a call of his name

"oh, yeah! yeah," chrome says brightly, moving over to give you space at the workbench, "of course, c'mere. i know exactly what you can do."

and just like any other time, his intensive focus and hands-on expertise makes a great scientist's apprentice out of you without fail

"gen, just be yourself, okay?"

you say it nonchalantly, almost teasingly, on a day that he tries to make himself look particularly bad

and he knows that you know exactly what the words mean to him: you're calling him out for the anti-hero drama king act, and he absolutely wants to hate you for it

how dare you take the fastest route to his heart? what in the world gave you the RIGHT?

days—maybe even a couple weeks—pass of him being quieter around you than usual, and you're almost sure that you had somehow upset him with the remark

until he finally comes to you with a cute little wood figurine of your favorite flower—a peace offering, if you will (though it was acquired through kaseki's help)

after his two very simple words of "thank you," your natural first response is "???" but he quickly adds, "for reminding me. just what i needed, actually."

while still somewhat baffled at the sudden gift, you can't help but melt at the gesture (and from the smirk on gen's face, you can tell that he's well aware)

you just have to admit: for a compulsive liar, he sure does have one of the most genuine hearts you've ever had the pleasure of meeting

bonuses !!

"kinro, i want to be just like you." -> nobody would've thought about it, but he gets insecure that his stubborn nature comes off as being a party pooper. it's a big relief to hear that his dedication to be a good role model pays off!

"ginro, be proud of yourself!" -> he's told so often that he isn't trying hard enough that sometimes he really starts to believe it ): nothing could ever make him feel more validated than your words do.

"suika, i never regret asking for your help." -> sweet baby gets a serotonin rush whenever her efforts bear fruit. it only pushes her to work harder, and just like everyone else, you adore her for it.

"kaseki, your work inspires me." -> it seals your spot on his long roster of emotionally adodpted grandchildren. because c'mon, the passion he's dedicated his whole life to, appreciated? i don't think i need to explain further.

Anorexia Nervosa is when you restrict your intake of food to a very unhealthy amount & you have a fear of gaining weight

Please don’t read if this makes you uncomfortable

Senku

- He didn’t notice at first

- It’s the stone world so he automatically assumed it’s because there’s isn’t much available tasty food, maybe you were a picky eater and thinned out because of it

- But then he saw how you never finished your food, you picked at it and only took small bites

- Boy was he annoyed when he realized. What kind of dumbass would be worrying about something so trivial in the stone world?

- And he made his thoughts known! He told you it was dumb and ‘No one cares how you look!’

- He tries to tell you this with your feelings in mind, he wouldn’t want you getting worse

- Now whenever you eat he keeps an eye on you, makes sure you atleast get enough nutrients

Gen

- Also didn’t know at first but caught on quickly

- It wasn’t until he heard you talk bad about yourself, very subtle comments about how you didn’t like your body

- Most people wouldn’t notice this but Gens whole thing is to pick up on these things

- After that, he kept an eye on you. Made sure to compliment you more often, make you feel loved

- And yet, when you ate he still saw you only pick and move your food around, not actually eating it

- It saddened him, he couldn’t understand why you would do that to yourself

- So he confronted you. He subtly leads you away from the others after supper and tells you his thoughts

- Tries to be gentle about it and lets you know you can always talk to him

- If you’re up for it, he’ll do mental exercises with you to gain more confidence

Playing Stardew Valley With Them!

i’ve been playing so much stared valley recently it’s not even funny (i may or may not have a save file with about 100 hours)

cw:// spoilers for one of shane’s cutscenes in game, and can be seen as either platonic or romantic, since these are mostly just general head canons

Senku:

-he is a completionist no doubt about it

-all he wants to do is collect everything in the game and finish the storyline

-however

-he is terrified in the mines

-something tells me that he doesn’t like fighting (wonder where i got that)

-so!

-you get to be his protector!

-you two go on little excursions in the mines so he can collect minerals to make whatever appliances you need in game

-though somehow he always finds a diamond for you and leaves it in the chest on your side of the bed

-ALSO

-he tried to recreate maru’s little gadgets in her room and is best friends with her, demetrius and harvey

Gen:

-he is everyone's best friend

-you two started the save file 30 minutes ago and suddenly he has 4 hearts with robin already

-is that even possible? apparently so

-however, he insists on not using the wiki for some reason

-he says it’s “insincere” and wants to find out what each character likes or doesn’t like himself

-that’s why when you look over and him while playing, you see him adding his latest observations to his spreadsheet that he uses as a reference instead

-”no you don’t understand, how can I consider myself their best friend if I don’t care enough to figure out their personalities myself?”

Kohaku:

-remember how I said senku didn’t like fighting in the mines?

-she loves it so much

-literally destroys her way through the skull caverns, it's her favorite part of the game

-always has the best tools and weapons so quickly

-whenever you see those commissions in town asking for bone shards or bug guts, she has them by the next day

-you two become best friends with the wizard because she has so many monster drops

Ruri:

-she’s the farmer

-has a little grudge with Pierre because his seeds are expensive but still supports him

-though she considers buying from joja mart every time she sees Abigail’s message where pierre takes credit for her gold star produce

- “what is she talking about I sold him those beets yesterday”

-she becomes great friends with penny and haley because she grows poppies and sunflowers a lot

-she also desperately wants to join robin, caroline and jodi in their aerobics class

Ukyo:

-he raises all of your animals

-always asks you what he should name them though because he trusts you and always likes your recommendations

-doesn’t understand why marnie is never tending to her store

- “her hours are from 9-4 why does she leave so early? i need to buy hay”

-best friends with leah and elliot because he has so many animals drops and constantly has duck feathers and goat cheese

-also quite literally screamed when he got the shane cutscene with the blue chickens

maybe if i went and lived on my own again…i wouldn’t have to deal with it—no. senku needs me. he needs me…what does he need me for again? you rolled onto your stomach; your pillow rustled as you flopped it on top of your head. he doesn’t need me. i’d rather be lonely than hear everyone say some bullshit about me.

everyone in the village knew you as a miss. yuzuriha made you more neutral clothes upon request, but everyone assumed you were tomboyish. luckily, no one read more into it; it was nice to dress comfortably, but it was like no one else understood. why were they still calling you a girl? and the older folks, you knew they meant well! but you couldn’t help but feel like their constant “sweet girl”s were making fun of you at this point.

i can’t do it, i can’t do it, they’re making fun of me right now, as i think. as i exist!

you felt a tear trickle down the side of your nose.

oh, you’re kidding. crying? again? is this—

a knock on your door halted your thoughts; you quickly flipped back and sat up in your bed on the ground of your hut, and wiped your face quickly. you lightly slapped your cheeks to stop yourself from continuing crying.

“yeah.”

“it’s me. can i come in?”

senku’s voice brought some sort of relief; personally you felt it was better for him to come in at such a time than anyone else.

you took a deep breath. “sure, but i just woke up. i’m staying under my blanket.”

senku laughed behind the door. a small shove was made and it opened, revealing a quite chipper senku. he liked to come early in the morning when the rest of the village was quiet.

his smirk faltered once he saw your face. you believed you hid your crying well; you didn’t think to check your red eyes or stinging cheeks.

“what’s wrong?” he asked, his words much gentler than when he asked to come in.

damn. how could i not realize i was so obvious?

with a deep breath, you whispered, “senku.. we’re pretty good friends, right?”

he snickered. “of course we are, way more than that asshole gen.”

his voice was closer. you laughed as well, and wiped your eyes clear. he slowly walked over and sat down on the floor next to you. senku was looking at you, really looking at you; it was intense, almost if he was making sure his closeness or anything about his presence wasn’t bothering you.

“okay…i’m about to say a lot of stuff. let me know if you need me to explain more, or if i’m talking too much. or—“

your words halted as senku put a hand on your shoulder, a smile light on his face. “all ears.”

you smiled back softly. “okay. so—back in..our time,”you gestured between the two of you with your hands, “i told my family and friends i was, uhm… nonbinary. like i don’t feel male or female, i use they/them pronouns; all that good stuff. still feel that way now. and, for quite some time, they didn’t believe me. not in a direct ‘you’re lying’ way, but more of ‘i don’t understand it therefore you shouldn’t understand it’ type of thing. i got a lot of shit from people who weren’t my friends, too. but with my friends’ support and getting more confidence after coming out, my parents were able to kinda see it. but yeah, it took quite some time. probably like.. eight months? even then, i had to remind them constantly, ‘not a daughter. please don’t call me she or he. please don’t call me a woman.’ but we were getting there. and right when we got petrified, right when it happened, i saw the look on my mom’s face.

“we were talking about me and my identity and it was like something had clicked in her brain. like, she knew exactly what i meant and how i felt when i said what it meant to be nonbinary. i don’t even remember what i said specifically, but i remember her expression as if she were standing in front of me right now. i was so hopeful i’d see her again, her expression got me through my petrification and even helped me break out of it. but of COURSE, i didn’t ever see her again after i woke up. and then i almost lost my own sense of self after being by myself for probably a year.. i was under the assumption i’d never meet another person again, so when i did run into your village—i had this gross feeling of dread. and i realized it was the same feeling that basically lived inside of me before i came out.”

you sat up straighter and looked away from senku. “it’s like, i have to rebuild my identity all over again. people always say you shouldn’t care about what other people say, but i can’t help it. i’m a sensitive person. i get hurt easily, no matter how hard i try to thicken my skin. they all, they all just use ‘she’ and ‘her’ and ‘that girl’ so often, it feels like they’re making fun of me, like they’re constantly telling me i’m not who i say i am. and i can’t tell them senku, being nonbinary was confusing for so many people in our time, i hardly believe they’ll understand it now. sure, my parents were fine, but it took a while before they got it. i can only imagine how long it’ll take for everyone here.”

senku was quiet. have you over explained yourself? was it too overbearing? in all honesty you’d only been good friends with senku a short while; you should have waited at least a little bit longer before letting him in on something so personal—

“it all, it all kind of makes sense now.”

huh?! “what?”

“what you told me, i think i get it now.”

you gave him a look up and down. it was possible, but you didn’t think there was much of a chance that senku would be so..cool with it. not right away. you expected some form of silent treatment for at least a day or two, so he could collect his own thoughts.

“i’m gonna say something, and i need you to listen. yeah?”

you stared at him like your brain short-circuited. what the fuck is he gonna say to me.. oh god, he doesn’t wanna be friends anymore. but he’ll be too nice to kick me out of the village. but it is his village—

“hey, hey…are you with me?” you both sat facing each other now, and his hands rested on your shoulders.

just hear him out. “yeah. all ears.”

he smoothed your shoulders with his thumb. “you’re just as valid as everyone out there. i know you’re scared, but believe me when i say they will not be mocking you in any way. sure, it might take a while for them to understand, but theyre not going to give up just because they dont get something right away. it took me a few months to fully convince this village i could help them, and even then, there were still a few who didn’t fully understand the experiments and contraptions i made until a while later. i know that isn’t the same as your situation… but what i’m trying to say is that they will try their best to know you, the real you. they aren’t going to mock you; if anything, they’ll have lots of questions to ask you.

“also, you have me, you have gen to help out in case you don’t have the capacity to answer everything yourself. i’ve a few things about gender before the stone world, and gen definitely knows a lot of things that are relevant to it as well.

“everyone here… they’re all so eager to learn, i highly doubt they’ll be unaccepting. they’ll be curious. and they’ll be happy you’re letting them in on something that is so important.”

tears had made their way down your face and on your clothes halfway through his mini-monologue; you didn’t notice him continuously wiping them away until he was finished. “it’s going to be okay. trust me.”

with a quiet sob, you pushed yourself into his arms for a hug.

“thank you.”

you knew he wasn’t particularly one for any type of physical contact, but he gladly accepted. for the occasion, he thought. his arms slowly wrapped around your slightly shaking body as you tried to calm down. neither of you spoke for a few minutes; only your soft sniffles were heard in the hut.

“senku, i think that was the most i’ve heard you talk about something that wasn’t directly related to science,” you laughed into his neck.

he laughed back. “i had a lot saved, since there were moments i could tell you were kind of uncomfortable. i didn’t want to force you into talking about it either, so i just waited. tried to figure out what i was going to say. it had to be good.. you are one of my closest friends, after all.”

both of you embraced each other a little tighter. “i hope all of this helped, i want you to live here with none of those worries. especially after so many months of having it bottled inside.”

you nodded in response.

today.. today will be the day i tell everyone not to use what they used to call me; that won’t do at all anymore.

today, i’ll tell everyone my name.
