@cagedpotential gets Alex
It had started out as a way for him to help Meredith. He had called Izzie for several reasons, and it had been hard. He still had a lot of pride and was still very stubborn. Honestly, once he did call her, a part of him was hoping she wouldn't answer the phone. But, she had and after about 15 awkward silences, she had told him the truth. He had nearly dropped the phone. Alex from ten years ago would have yelled, would have flipped out, and he was angry at her. But, he needed to see her, them. He needed to see and talk to her in person. He had to help Mer get through the trial and then he would go see them all.
That's what he did.
Out of all the places she landed, did it have to be Kansas? He pulled up to the house she gave him the address to and he knocked at the door, running his hands through his hair. What does one say to their ex-wife and their new situation?
#cagedpotential#✖ [Izzie]#V: I left and I’m with Izzie [Alex’ life after Seattle in a new hospital back with the woman he loves and his children]#✖ [Character: Alex Karev]#I hope this works for you!

This just spoke to me
Every rose has its thorn
Paring: Derek shepherd x Reader, Ex!Mark Sloan x Reader.

MasterList ML2
It sucks when your whole life gets turned upside down. A group of friends being torn apart because of an adulterous act. Derek had come home one night to see his wife Addison Montgomery in bed with his best friend Mark Sloan... Mark Sloan just happened to be the boyfriend of y/n L/n. Both Addison and Mark cheated on Derek and y/n. Ruining their relationships forever.
Y/n felt terrible, her heart ached. She felt like she should have seen it coming, she thought she should have seen the signals. She was mad and heartbroken when I found out Mark cheated on her with Addison. Most of all, she was angry at Addison for cheating on Derek. Derek was y/n’s best friend and seeing him that heartbroken hurt worse.
Derek hated both Addison and Mark. Not only did they ruin his relationship and marriage, but they also hurt y/n as well. Derek was so upset that he decided to leave town. He was tired of the lies from Addison and Mark. He just wanted to move on. He knew he couldn't if he stayed there. That's when he and y/n made the move to Seattle together.
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
They both got drunk the first night they were in Seattle. Derek and her went to this small bar that was across the street from the hospital. Y/n never got drunk, she didn't like drinking but that's just how the night went. And too bad it took them being drunk to realize there was something between them.
Once they got drunk Derek started noticing things about her he had never noticed before. He started to see her in a new light. It made him see how beautiful she was. His feelings for her grew the more drunk they got.
“God I hate him” y/n rambled about Mark. “I wish I never fell in love with him”
Derek listened to everything y/n had to say. He hated that she loved a man like Mark. She deserved so much better. Derek couldn't wait to show her how much better he was for her…
“I hate her too” y/n sighed then looked over at Derek, there was just something there she hadn't noticed before. They always had some kinda connection, but always played it off as being best friend
She noticed his smile, his blue eyes. She always considered him a platonic soulmate, but maybe... Just maybe there was something more. Derek looked over at y/n. Her lips looked so soft. Her hair was perfectly curled. She stood out like a diamond, She was beautiful. Derek had never thought he would feel this way towards her. But as the night went on he realized there was something inside of him that was growing for her. He realized that he was falling in love with her. He had never felt this way before for anyone.
They both sat there wondering what would have happened if they chose each other instead of Mark and Addison. Derek always wondered what it would be like if y/n chose him over Mark. If y/n had chosen him, Addison would never have broken his heart. Would they have settled down with each other and had children? Had a family? The thoughts were racing through Derek's mind while he continued to stare at y/n. He wanted to make his move.
“Why are you looking at me like That?” she chuckled drunkenly.
Derek didn't realize that his lustful gaze was showing. He felt his cheeks burn red from embarrassment. He cleared his throat. “because your beautiful”
She blushed and looked away. “your just saying that”
Derek wanted her to know she was beautiful and he wasn't just saying that. He moved closer to her. “no. I mean it. You're so beautiful. I've never told you that before. But I'm gonna tell you now. You're gorgeous…”
She don't know what possessed her, but she placed her hand on his jaw and pressed her lips to his. Derek was absolutely shocked when y/n pressed her lips to his, that she had initiated it first. He pulled away, staring into her eyes. “Mark is stupid for letting something as amazing as you go” Derek whispered, he had been wanting this for so long. Derek immediately placed his hands on her hips and pulled her close to him. He kissed her with all the emotion and longing that had built up inside of him. He wanted her and he was going to get her.
Her lips parted and gently brushed her tongue against his lips, running her fingers through his hair
He kept kissing her deeply as he ran his hands up her torso, towards her neck. Derek couldn't wait to explore every inch of her.
Y/n slowly pulled away, resting her forehead against his as she tried to catch her breath and tried to focus my drunken mind. Now all logic was throwing away, she inched her face closer to his again, nudging her nose against his, hovering her lips over his. She couldn't get enough of the intoxicating scent of his cologne. Her eyes were fixed downward,watching his hands roam the outline of her body.
Derek's hands wrapped around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. They were both losing reason and logic. They were caught up in the moment. Derek felt their warmth building between them and it was turning him on, He wanted more. His hands wandered up her back now and they slowly ran through her hair. The smell of lavender wafted up to his nose and he was lost in her.
Before things could get too far, y/n pressed her hands to his chest, stopping him. “you wanna get out of here?”
Derek quickly nodded. “yeah, let's get out of here”
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
As soon as they got back to the trailer, her lips were back on his, the kiss was messy and rushed. Y/n quickly pushed his jacket off his shoulders as he pushed her backwards towards the kitchen counter. She moaned against his lips, running her fingers through his hair. Getting them lost in his soft, perfect hair.
Derek was absolutely stunned by her boldness. This was the moment he had been longing for all this time. He was ecstatic that she was finally showing him this side of her. He threw his coat to the side with the rest of their stuff and began to kiss her with more passion. His hands roamed from her back down her body, giving her ass a squeeze. He was feeling her up the way he had wanted to since the moment he met her.
He couldn't help but want more. His hands squeezed her butt and his lips kept on exploring hers while he moved her back towards the bed. His body was pushed against hers and he leaned her back. There was no going back now. Y/n fell backwards on his bed, pulling him down with her. She moaned softly, tugging on his hair as his lips and the scruff on his jaw brushed against her neck.
Derek loved her reaction, the moans she let out were sending shivers down his spine. Her touch felt so good on him. Derek could feel her body pressing against his. He was enjoying her just as much as she was enjoying him. He wanted to kiss every inch of her. He finally had the chance to make her his and he wasn't going to let her slip away from him.
“D-derek” she moaned softly.
Derek loved how his name coming from her mouth sounded. Hearing her breathless voice gave him everything he needed to continue on with her. His hands ran up and down her body and his lips traveled across her neck and down to her shoulders. His mouth was finally exploring her body in ways that he had wished he could do for so long. His scruff was rough on her soft skin. His lips were gentle and tender. His touch was so hot and passionate. He loved the way she tasted and smelled, every inch of her was perfect to him.
They were running on nothing but alcohol, bottled up feelings, and passion. Their clothes were gone in seconds and they fell into each other's temptations.
--------(1st pov)--------
The next morning I woke up with a hangover, my head was pounding. I looked around and noticed I was in Derek's bed and not my own. I peaked under the covers and we were both naked. Derek was still asleep, I slowly sat up and grabbed his red shirt from last night and covered my bare chest with it. I sat there processing the whole night, I didn't feel regret or anything, but when something feels so good, how can it not be bad. “Derek, wake up” I said, nudging his naked shoulder.
Derek's eyes slowly opened and he sat up from the bed, stretching and yawning. He turned his head in my direction and he froze when he noticed his shirt covering my chest. His eyes grew wide, but there was a smirk on his face.
“So... Umm…” I looked down shyly. “we umm... Last night, didn't we?” I asked softly.
Derek laid on his back, smirking to himself. “yeah… Yeah we did”
I moved my messy hair out of my face. “we're no better than them,” I mumbled, thinking about Addison and Mark. They slept together, they were in the wrong, but what about us?.
Even if I was right or wrong, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief from last night. The bond we formed last night was undeniable. I had wanted him for so long and we finally had our chance. Mark and Addison may have won the battle, but there was this feeling that we were gonna win the war.
I fell backwards in the bed, laying on my back next to him. I rubbed my face processing everything. I didn't regret it one bit, but I wished it happened at a different time. “God... I just had sex with a married man” I mumbled, covering my face.
He rolled over on his side, facing me. He kissed my shoulder with a smirk on his face. “Separated... I'm not with Addison anymore” he kissed my cheek then looked at me with those pretty blue eyes. “and I gotta say... That was the best sex I ever had…”
I uncovered my face and turned my head towards him, smiling. “Dito”
Derek smiled. “Do you... umm... regret what we did last night?”
“No... Do you?” I asked softly.
Derek shook his head in a no. “I wanted to do that for so long.” he leaned forward and brushed his lips against mine for a soft loving kiss.
Derek pulled me close, kissing me deeply with no regrets between us. My heart fluttered as he kissed me passionately. This feeling was so new to me, but definitely wanted. His hands grabbed my hips and pulled me against his chest. The scruff on his jaw hitting my chin and cheeks. I smirked against his lips and placed my hand on his jaw, feeling the scruff that peppered his jaw. I pulled away from the kiss and rested my forehead against his, I rubbed my thumb over his cheek gently. “like this...” I mumbled, referring to his scruff. When he was with Addison he was always clean shaved. She liked it that way, I didn't matter if he wanted to let it grow.
“You like it?” his eyebrow raised with a smirk on his face.
“Yeah... It's sexy”
When he was with Addison he definitely shaved daily. But he was trying keep his scruff now. He liked the way he looked with a little bit of scruff now. He kissed my cheek slowly. “I'll keep it for you then” he smirked again.
I smiled, pulling him down for another kiss and slowly ran my fingers through his hair. I pulled away from the kiss gently. “we need to get ready for work...”
“yeah... First day” Derek chuckled and kissed my nose before climed out of bed.
~~~~~~~~(few months later)~~~~~~~~
I had to admit Seattle was just a better place to be than new York. No one knew us except Richard Webber, he still didn't know about our relationship and that was okay. As the months went by it was made clear that our firsr night here ment everything. We just fit too well together, even if that sounded cheesy. Being beat friends in the past nothing much changed except we were now kissing, cuddling, and having quickies in the shower.
Mark had tried to call me numerous of times, I hadn't awnsered once. I wasn't ready to talk to him, but I think I was ready to forgive him. I had moved on and was happy with Derek, so there was no reason to hate him. Addison is a different story. I couldn't believe it when she showed up in Seattle.
“Addison... what are you doing here?” Derek asked.
I couldn’t even looked Addison in the eyes. I kept my head down and my anger bottled up.
“you would have know if you had botherd to return any one of my phone calls” Addison turned to me. “or awnsered the phone when Mark calls”
“I have nothing to say to him” I said bitterly.
“of course not, your too busy screwing my husband” Addison shot back.
“that's rich” I snapped back. “you were too busy screwing my boyfriend”
Derek grabed my arm, rubbing it affectionately. He stared at Addison with betrayal and anger. “is there something you need? What are you doing here?”
Addison had a smug look on her face as she looked Derek up and down. I couldn't help but feel territorial, but at the same time insucre. I always thought Addison was prettier than me.
“your hair is different” Addison said, dodging the subject. She went to reach for his hair, but I pushed her hand away. Derek smirked slightly, but it disappeared and he turned back to Addison. “a lot of things are different”
“it's longer” Addison continued. “what's your problem?” I asked annoyed.
“what are you doing here?” Derek asked again.
“Relax, guys, I'm here for work. I'm helming the T.T.T.S. case you guys admitted last week. And after Richard's briefing...” Addison said, rolling her eyes.
“bullshit” I said. I didn't believe a word that came out of this woman's mouth. “I swear to God, if you brought Mark with you...”
“it's cute...” Addison started sarcastically. “That whole wide-eyed "ooh, he's a brain surgeon" act you have going on... It's sweet. Which is what you were going for, right? The anti-Addison”
I shook my head, staring daggers into her. She smirked like she had the upper hand now. I didn't know it was possible to love and hate someone so much. Addison was always like an older sister to me, I looked up to her and wanted to be like her. Not now she betrayed me... But in a sences I betrayed her too.
“let's go” Derek said in a hard tone and grabed my hand. I looked into Addison's eyes and showed her nothing but hurt as Derek pulled me away.
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
“why is she back!?” I yelled at Derek.
“I don't know! Why are you yelling at me?” Derek snapped back as he paced back and forth in his trailer. I don't know why we were taking this out on each other, it hurt we resorted to this.
“I don't know!” I sighed and sat down on his bed, rubbing my face in frustration. I think we weren't yelling at each other, just yelling in general. We were both frustrated.
Derek sighed and gave me a gental expression. “you know her coming here means nothing, right?”
I looked up at him, I trusted him but I just had to ask. “nothing between us changes?”
His blue eyes stared into my soul. I loved his eyes, I could just drown in them. “nothing changes... Hell, I'll devorce her”
He held his hand out to me and I took it. “I promise” he said softly and knelt infront me where I was setting so we were eye level. “we're not gonna lose each other... Not again”
~~~~~~~~(.......)~~~~~~~~
Then Mark came back...
Unlike when Addison showed up, I was just hurt to see him. I hadn't thought about him since me and derek started dating, but when I saw his face all that hurt and betrayal came rushing back.
The first time he visited Seattle he was on the ground and thanks to Derek I was the one that had to stich him him up. Richard sent me and Mark to the ER and Richard was chewing Derek out for the punch. That's when Richard found out about Addison and Mark's affair.
“you look amazing” Mark said as I got out the supplies to stich up his cheek. I ignored him as I tried to keep my anger and disappointment bottled up.
I cleared my throat and placed a towel on his shoulder and tried to get a decent angle to stich his cheek.
“here” Mark mumbled and to my dismay he pulled me in between by my hips so I could be closer. “thats better” he smirked.
I sighed and dropped the tweezers. “you think your funny?”
“I think I'm adorable” he smirked. I rolled my eyes and stiched up the gash. I sighed using the technique mark taught me long ago.
“I missed you... I really do” he said as I placed a bandaged on. I tried to stay silent but Mark wasn't having it. “will you please say something?”
I slammed the tweezers on the tray with a loud clink then turned towrds Mark. “What do you want me to say? I don't want you here and and sure as hell don't want Addison here”
Mark looked down staying silent. “I'm sorry”
I rolled my eyes tired of his sorrys. I did miss him and hell I unfortunately still cared for him, but every time I looked at him all I can think of is him in bed with Addison.
I gulped and looked at him as I felt the tears form. “I'll see ya around Mark”
“bye...” he said barly above a whisper.
--------(3rd pov)--------
Mark and Addison from a far, confused on what they were seeing. They just couldn't understand how fast y/n and derek fell for each other. Addison scolded herself for not seeing the signs earlier, but when she looks back she could see the way Derek looked at y/n.
“Derek never looked at me the way he looks at here” Addison said in a monotone voice.
Mark crossed his arms, staring at the new couple. He feeling so many different things it confused him. He wanted to fix his friendship with Derek, but everytime he saw his arm around y/n he just wanted to break it. Then on the other hand his heart broke seeing y/n smile and derek and not him, but he loved her enough to feel some sorta relief he didn't totally break her and she was happy.
“y/n looked at me like that... Every day we we're together” Mark said. “and I screwed it up big time”
Addison glanced at him, part of her felt fear Mark regreted being with her. It ment she lost two men she loved. She felt selfish for feeling like that, not only did she lose a husband she lost her closest female friend. This whole situation was a mess and she knew it.
Mark glanced at her, his blue eyes showing nothing but pain. “if I could turn back time I would in a heart beat”
Mark still loved her, but he loved her enough to let her go. At least he knew he could trust Derek not to hurt her. “let go of your pride addie, if you think Derek will leave n/n your crazy”
Addison raised an eyebrow at him, like she thought he was some kinda hypocrite. “well, y/n isn't leaving Derek for you”
“yeah... And I just need to learn to deal with that” Mark sighed, giving y/n and derek one last glance before leaving.
Birds of Paradise! This was done as a charity card for the Seattle Children's hospital. Essentially you get the drawing from a child and you're asked to render it out without changing as much as you can. The only thing I added was legs and some tail feathers, I was very careful not to taint Eli's vision.
I got this card for answering an email quickly, lol. I happened to be at a show when the email asking for interested folks went out and answered it in a few minutes, haha. I adored the previous set they'd done like this and was beyond excited.
The NEW McDreamy
Derek spent most of his days roaming the Seattle, observing the lives of his children, sometimes making it all the way to his sisters to see how they're doing. But most of the time he was in hospital. Wishing to be back in the OR, to be THE McDreamy everyone respected. The neurosurgeon. One of the best in the whole world.
His death was a tragic accident. His wife, Meredith decided to unplug him to not prolong his suffering. But he still had unfinished business on Earth, so he stayed as a ghost.
He traced Meredith’s steps, sometimes eaves dropped on his ex-colleagues conversations, but the most interesting thing that caught his attention recently was Meredith dating again. He was in the corner of her bedroom, jealous of the young doctor having a passionate sex with her.
He used to have that to. A hot body, hot steamy sex with his wife. Now a strange man, that slightly resembled Derek, was having sex with her in the bed that he used to.
Meredith spoke up to the guy:”You need to go, my children can’t see you.”
The guy:”I don’t really want to leave yet.” Meredith:”Seriously. You have to leave.”
The guy:”Could I at least take a shower before I leave? I don’t want to go to the hospital all sweaty again.”
Meredith:”Fine, but hurry.” The guy:”You’re more then welcome to join me.”
Meredith:”Go!”
The guy left to the bathroom in his briefs, while Derek followed him.
Derek:”What’s so great about you, huh? I was hotter then you. She just has sex with you because I’m not in the picture.”
The guy didn’t hear a thing and just proceeded to take his shower.
Derek’s jealousy grew. He got close, TOO close. Closer than he ever tried before. A force pulled him inside of the guy.
Derek:”No…” he couldn’t even finish his screaming as his soul was dragged into the body
Derek opened his eyes. Wait. Derek could open his eyes again. He felt the warm water falling on his body. Derek stretched his hands over to the head of the shower. It was real. His hands could feel the temperature again. He looked down.
Derek:”No way. I’m you.” He explored his new body. Still being more proud of his previous one, but not dening, that this body was attractive as well.
He got out of the shower and looked into the mirror. He kind of could see himself in this guy’s eyes. He inspected his new face.
Derek:”I don’t even know your name. How am I supposed to do this?”
He exited the bathroom and entered the bedroom again. Meredith was asleep. This gave him a chance to find out a bit more about himself. He took the guy’s jeans to his hands and found a wallet. Inside of it was his ID card and other documents. “Andrew, Deluca. Exotic.” He said to himself out loud which woke up Meredith.
Meredith:”What are you still doing here?”
Derek:”I was wondering if you were interested in second round?”
Meredith:”You’re bad influence, you know that?”
Derek:”What can I say.”
He jumped on the bed to get closer to Meredith. They started making out.
Derek made his way with his fingers to fondle her breasts.
Meredith:”Andrew. We have a lot of appointments for today. We shouldn’t be late.”
Derek:”We won’t. And besides. I kind of thought about switching to neuro anyway.”
Meredith looked at him suspiciously, but Derek didn’t give her enough time to think it through and used his finger to explore his way down.
Meredith was falling in love with Andrew more and more every day. He treated her kids as if they were his own, he exceeded in work and even after switching to neuro, he made unbelievable progress. And the sex. God the sex was amazing. It made her remember how Derek and her used to have sex all the time before the kids.
One day, she went to observe on one of Andrew’s first solo neuro surgeries.
He looked up at her, happy to see her in the audience, winking at her. She never saw him this happy before. He looked at everyone else. “All right everybody, it’s a beautiful day to save lives. Let’s have some fun.”
Meredith eyes widened. The catchphrase. His catchphrase. Deluca wasn’t there when Derek used to say that. Unless someone told him. But then Meredith recalled all the moments from the past weeks. How he treated the kids. His change of clothes style. The different sex moves. Wait… Derek?”
|——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
Abby had been moving around Seattle for a long while now. She had left the wolves after realising they were just a bad as the fireflies had once been. She had discovered that Isaac had been knowingly kidnapping Scar children in the hopes of making the parents turn themselves in. None of them ever did, and Isaac had ended up killing the Scar children each time.
Abby strongly disagreed with Isaac’s method, even though Scars were a pain in the ass, and she had left the WLF.
After leaving the WLF, it didn’t take long for her to be captured by a group of scars. They had jumped her out of nowhere, and they had tried to kill her by hanging her and cutting her guts out. Before that could happen, however, one Scar child was brought in by the other Scars.
Apparently they had betrayed their own people, just like Abby had done.
When the elder Scar gave the order to ‘cut the wings’ of the Scar child, the other Scars managed to break one of the girls arms before an arrow pierced their neck, killing them.
The eldest Scar reached for the hammer in an attempt to kill the Scar girl, yet before she managed to do so, Abby was able to reach herself forward, holding the elder Scar in a chokehold with her thighs, successfully killing her.
A little boy ran from a hiding spot, helping the Scar girl up. After, he had cut Abby loose, allowing her to breath once more.
Abby and the two Scar children moved on together, helping the other as they were trying to get away from the remaining Scars in the area still hunting them. The oldest Scar girl introduced herself as Yara, and the younger Scar boy introduced himself as Lev.
After a day or two Yara had become violently ill.
The arm that she had broken was red and swollen, and it was hurting Yara more than she could handle. It didn’t take long before Abby realised that the bone was shattered, and if the arm didn’t come off, Yara would die.
Unfortunately, Abby was not a doctor, nor was Lev. She had no idea as to how to save Yara.
Abby went over all the options in her head, mentally beating herself up over the fact that she did not pay attention when her father tried to teach her medical stuff.
After a long debate, and talking with Yara and Lev, they decided that Abby should try and take the arm off, even though the risk was high. If the arm was not soon amputated, Yara would die.
And so, Abby had gone to the hospital, gathering all the supplies she needed before heading back to Yara and Lev.
The surgery was surprisingly successful, and Yara was thriving after her arm had been taken off. The three of them were now living in Seattle, trying to find a way out of the city without being spotted by either Wolves or Scars.
You groaned slightly as you woke up, squinting your eyes to adjust to the light that was coming in through the upper windows.
“You’re a deep sleeper…” you heard someone say from beside you.
You groaned once more as you sat up, looking to your right to find Natasha sitting there, cleaning her gun.
“How long have you been awake?” you asked as you got up from the couch, reaching for your jacket and putting it on. You shivered slightly at the coldness of the Seattle winter. Even though the winter was nearly over, and spring was soon to start, the cold breeze was undeniable.
“A few hours. I’m a pretty light sleeper, and patrols moved along this theatre multiple times already,” Natasha explained as she finished cleaning her gun, putting it back in the holster on her thigh.
You frowned at that, glancing towards the door, seeing a chair had been put against it in a way that made it impossible to enter from the outside.
“Don’t worry, it’s nothing new,” Natasha explained as she stood up.
“Do they move past here often? And are they Scars or Wolves?” You asked.
“Usually Scars. They patrol this area quite often, but they always leave the theatre alone for some reason. Too much old world stuff, probably,” Natasha explained, reaching into her bag and handing you something to eat.
“Here you go. You should eat something, we had quite the day yesterday.”
You nodded as you reached for the energy bar, thanking Natasha and eating it quickly.
“So, I know you’re totally not looking for someone, but if you are, I was thinking of maybe moving towards the tv station. I heard some chatter over the radio saying trespassers had been spotted, and I figured it might be my sister, or you mystery person,” Natasha teased as she reached towards her bag, picking it up and putting it on her shoulders.
“You’re subtle,” you remarked as you followed her actions, picking up your own bag.
“How far from here is the tv station?” you asked Natasha as you followed her towards the door, waiting for her to remove the chair so you could leave.
“It’s about a day’s walk from here, but I’m sure we’ll be fine. We can find some place to haul up there if we have to,” Natasha explained as she carefully opened the door, checking the surroundings thoroughly before stepping aside, motioning you to go first.
You carefully left the building, watching as Natasha pulled the door close, grabbing a key ring from her pocket that held a bunch of keys.
After Natasha used one of the keys to lock the door, she put the keys back in her pocket, starting to move towards the other buildings before stopping, pointing to the tall buildings in the distance.
“That’s where we’re headed. The tv station should be around those other tall buildings,” Natasha pointed out.
“It’s not close…” you stated as you grabbed your gun, counting your bullets before putting it back into your belt. “I’m very low on ammo. Once encounter with either Scars, Wolves or infected and I’m out,” you explained.
Natasha nodded. “Me too. We should find some place to stock up on our supplies,” Natasha stated.
You two started moving, heading towards an old street full of shops. While moving through a few, finding multiple bullets and other sorts of useful supplies, you met Natasha outside the other shops. You both decided to check different shops, wanting to move towards the tv station as quick as possible before you lost too much daylight.
When you and Natasha we done in the shops, you decided to start moving again. It was a long and difficult walk to get to the tv station.
You two had to get around a ridiculous amount of water, and with the increased amount of Scar and Wolves patrols, most likely because of the spotted trespasser, it wasn’t easy avoiding the water and the people, not to mention the fact that the roads towards the tv station were very rough and messy. Many cars blocked your way, hindering you from moving on the same road for longer than a mile or so.
After walking for about half the day, and manoeuvring through multiple building due to the roughed up roads, you were finally starting to see the buildings increasing.
The tv station was towards the heart of the city, and so the building increasing signalled that you were getting closer. However, when you were finally starting to get more hopeful, you heard gunshots coming from the distance,
You turned towards Natasha, seeing her grabbing her gun and being more alert of your surroundings.
You reached for your gun as well, making sure it was loaded as you followed Natasha, staying close behind her and you two moved forward. Unfortunately, the gun shots were coming from the direction you were going in, and as you didn’t have many choices but to either move forward or go back, you were pretty much forced to move towards the gun shot noises.
After walking for about half an hour, you started hearing Clicker noises, and not just a few.
A lot of Clicker noises could be heard, indicating that there was most likely a hoard moving towards your location.
Natasha grabbed your hand as she dragged you towards one of the stores in the street, using her body weight to slam the door open, helping you inside before entering herself.
It would be the best to try and wait there until the hoard would pass.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Abby reached towards Lev as she pulled him down towards her hiding spot, wanting to stay hidden from the multiple Scars that were attacking them.
Abby, Lev, and Yara had been moving through this particular area of the city for almost two days. It was fairly quiet and there didn’t seem to be many things to go wrong. However, as everyone knows, nothing can ever be easy in a world such as this one.
The group of three was jumped by multiple Scars, hitting Abby in her arm as they were moving through a certain street.
Yara had fired multiple bullets to try and distract the multiple Scars attacking them, giving Lev enough time to bandage Abby’s arm in a messy way, hoping to stop the bleeding enough for them to finish the fight.
After bandaging the wound quickly, Lev reached towards his bow, taking out several Scars before he was being fired at.
Yara was in a hiding spot a little further from them, shooting with her gun as she did her best to stay hidden. Abby now reached for her own gun, using it to kill multiple Scars before the familiar sound of infected could be heard.
When she turned to her left to see how badly they were screwed, she was able to spot multiple Clickers and Runners heading towards them. All the shooting must have drawn them out, Abby figured as she looked towards her own gun, soon realising the amount of bullets she had left would not be enough for the Scars and the infected.
Abby whistled towards Yara, letting her know she was planning on running.
Yara fired multiple shots, enough to make the Scars retreat to their hiding spots so that Yara could quickly run towards Lev and Abby, getting ready to run away from the infected with them.
The Scars quickly started shooting again, the fact that Infected were heading their way seemingly not bothering them much.
However, when the Clickers started getting a little too close for comfort, even the Scars retreated towards higher ground, using the multiple buildings as coverage while Abby, Yara and Lev were left out on the street.
“What are we gonna do?” Lev asked, looking up at Abby.
“I don’t know. We have to try and run, go back the way we came,” Abby stated as she motioned towards the road they came from.
“Aren’t we heading towards the tv station anymore?” Lev asked.
“We have to get away from the Seraphites first, Lev. After that, we will find a different route to the tv station,” Yara explained, pulling Lev’s arm so he was standing in an upright position.
Let’s go,” Abby stated as she moved past Lev and Yara, leading the way as she ran towards the passage that they originally used to get onto the street. After helping Yara and Lev through, she stepped through herself, lifting the iron woven fence as she moved past it.
However, when she went to move through the hole, her arm got caught on the iron fence, the bandage ripping off and the wound starting to bleed heavily once more.
“Abby!” Lev yelled as he noticed the blood starting to pour.
“Leave it!” Abby ordered as she grabbed Lev’s hand, running through the street as she infected started increasing on the other side of the fence. They were with too many and their weight was starting to become too much for the fence to hold.
“Through here!” Yara yelled as she managed to get the door to a store open, pushing it open all the way to allow Lev and Abby to enter before entering herself, grabbing a led pipe that was laying on the ground, using it to barricade the door.
However, once they were inside they did not have any time to take a breath, nor have any time to take care of Abby’s wound as they heard a gun load behind them.
They were not alone in the store.
“Turn around,” a stern voice spoke, a gun being raised towards the group.
Slowly, Abby, Yara and Lev turned around, Abby using her body to try and shield Lev and Yara a bit, pushing Lev behind her a bit more as she fully turned around.
“Well, fuck,”
-------------------------------------------------------------
“Abby?!” you spoke in surprise when the three figures had turned around.
Abby fucking Anderson was standing in front of you, joined by two fucking Scars. She sure had changed. She had always been stronger than the average girl, but damn did she build some muscle since the last time you had seen her.
“Y/n…?” Abby questioned is confusion.
“What the fuck are you doing with Scars? You’re not a Scar, are you?” you asked hesitantly, scared it might be true.
“Seraphites.”
You heard a quiet voice speak from behind Abby.
“What?”
“That’s… Lev…” Abby started. “Listen, we’re not with the Scars. They are actually the ones that are hunting us,” Abby explained.
“Y/n, who are these people?” Natasha asked, slowly lowering her gun as she glanced towards you.
“This is the person I was looking for…” you explained, al though you did not take your eyes off of Abby. “You changed… You look good…” you said, unsure of what to say. You wanted to find Abby. You wanted to help her. However, you didn’t really account for actually finding her, let alone knowing what to say.
“What are you doing here?” Abby asked, looking at you a little sceptically.
“I heard people were looking for you. I wanted to come and help,” you explained, now realising it sounded a little awkward. You truly did want to help Abby, yet you hadn’t seen her in so long. Why would anyone simply risk their life to follow a lead about someone you might have known who might have been in danger.
“Is this your pretty friend you told us about? The special one?” you heard the boy behind Abby ask.
Abby’s cheeks flushed a little when she nodded.
You smiled.
“As much as I’m enjoying this awkward reunion, we should try and move higher up. We should get away from the street,” Natasha spoke, breaking the silence.
“I agree. It’s not safe to stay here,” Yara agreed.
“Maybe we should take care of that first,” you spoke as you motioned your head towards Abby’s arm, the blood still violently pouring out.
“Here,” Natasha said as she opened her backpack, reaching in it to grab a first aid kit. She then moved towards Abby, helping her sit down as she carefully unwrapped what was left of the make shift bandage.
You moved towards Abby as well, kneeling on the ground next to her and opening the first aid kit. You grabbed some needle and thread before grabbing some rubbing alcohol, sterilising your equipment before pouring some of it on a cloth.
“This will sting,” you told Abby as you gently grabbed her arm.
Her skin was warm, a big difference from your cold arm. Abby hissed as you moved the cloth over the wound, cleaning the blood away and sterilising it.
After finishing, you carefully stitched her wound close, letting Natasha wrap it with a clean bandage after you were finished.
“Now we should move,” Yara said the moment you two were done, already walking towards the back of the building to see if there were any accessible stairs. Lev followed her, wanting to stay close to his big sister.
Natasha stuffed the supplies back in her bag, standing up and going after Yara and Lev. You and Abby stayed behind, Abby getting up first before extending you her hand.
“So you think I’m pretty, huh?”
Michael, a handsome 28-year-old man with a muscular build, found himself in a rather unique situation. As a professional surrogate, he had embarked on his second pregnancy, carrying the precious gift of life for a wealthy couple. Nestled in the breathtaking Aspen mountains, he resided in a luxurious facility specifically designed for pregnant men like him, surrounded by fellow surrogates.
Within this tranquil haven, Michael's days were filled with anticipation and longing as he nurtured the life growing within him. He had been chosen to carry a set of twins for a prominent Seattle Seahawks quarterback and his beloved partner. These twins, destined to inherit both their father's athletic prowess and their mother's beauty, were eagerly awaited by the couple in their opulent suite.
However, as the days turned into weeks, Michael found himself one week overdue. The weight of his burgeoning stomach, housing the two precious lives, caused his milk-filled pecs to throb and ache. It was a constant reminder of the immense responsibility he had undertaken.
As he paced the lavish corridors of the facility, Michael's mind was filled with both excitement and concern. The doctors had informed him that the babies were exceptionally large, raising worries of permanent stretching. Yet, his dedication to fulfilling the dreams of the couple overshadowed any personal apprehensions.
Chapter 2: Michael's Labor of Love
The moment had finally arrived. Michael, adorned in a soft, silk gown that barely concealed his swollen belly, was escorted to the delivery room by a team of attentive nurses and physicians. The room was bathed in a warm, soothing light that contrasted with the intensity of the situation.
As he settled onto the hospital bed, his body pulsating with anticipation, Michael couldn't ignore the mix of nerves and excitement coursing through his veins. The family anxiously waited in their suite, eager to hold their precious twins for the first time.
The doctors and nurses surrounded Michael, their experienced hands ready to guide him through the final stages of labor. The rhythmic hum of medical equipment filled the air, intermingled with Michael's deep, controlled breaths.
With each contraction, his muscles tensed and released, fueling the powerful surge of energy needed to bring the babies into the world. Michael's milk-filled pecs pumped rhythmically, a testament to his commitment to providing the best start in life for the twins.
Chapter 3: The Ultimate Sacrifice
Time seemed to stand still as Michael's body worked tirelessly, surrendering to the primal forces of childbirth. The room echoed with his primal moans and groans, a symphony of pain and pleasure, as his milk-filled pecs continued to pulsate with life-giving nourishment.
In the midst of the intense labor, Michael's mind wandered to the couple eagerly awaiting their newborns. He knew the sacrifices he had made, both physically and emotionally, were a testament to his unwavering dedication. The thought of their joy, their tears of gratitude, fueled his determination to see this journey through.
And then, in a moment that felt both eternal and fleeting, the twins were born. The room erupted with a chorus of cries, a symphony of life entering the world. The doctors and nurses worked swiftly to ensure the well-being of the newborns, their skilled hands cradling the delicate bodies.
As Michael held each baby, his heart swelled with a profound sense of fulfillment. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback and his partner, their eyes brimming with tears, embraced their children with overwhelming love and gratitude. In that moment, Michael's every worry and fear melted away, replaced by a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
This is directly tied to covid for a number of reasons including weakened immune systems from frequent infection and vaccine hesitancy strengthened during the pandemic.
By Eilis O'Neill
Whooping cough is spreading nationwide at the highest levels since 2014. There have been more than 16,000 cases this year — more than four times as many compared to the same time last year — and two confirmed deaths. And experts are concerned that the outbreak could worsen in the fall and winter months.
“More children are going back to school now, [which leads to] greater exposure,” said Dr. Eric Chow, the chief of epidemiology and immunization at the Seattle and King County public health agency. “We’re coming up on the kind of winter season when people are spending more time indoors with other people.”
The disease is most dangerous to babies: 1 in 3 who get it require hospitalization.
Whooping cough cases are especially high right now on the West Coast.
King County, where Seattle is, has seen more this year than any year since 2015 — “and the year isn’t even over yet,” Chow said. He said the county is still seeing new cases of whooping cough every week.
Why the big outbreak now? Experts say there are a number of possible explanations for the size of the current outbreak.
Doctors are testing for whooping cough more, so they’re identifying more cases.
It’s possible that the bacterium that causes the disease has mutated.
Also, people got behind on their vaccines during the pandemic, and they haven’t caught up.
“One of the challenges that we have with [the vaccine that protects against whooping cough] is that it is a five-dose series over the course of the first six years of a child’s life, so it does require regular visits to the primary care,” Chow said.
And, Chow said, not everyone can get to the doctor regularly.
But access isn’t the only problem.
“There still is a lot of vaccine hesitancy and anti-vaxers out there that will not vaccinate their kids,” said Dr. Tina Tan, a pediatric infectious disease physician at Northwestern University and the president-elect of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
For the first couple of weeks, whooping cough looks like a mild cold, but then the coughing fits start.
Babies who get it “are going to be whooping when they cough,” Tan said. “And they may cough, cough, cough, cough, cough, and then look like they're not breathing at all.”
Tan said those pauses in breathing are life-threatening, and a sign that it’s time to go to the hospital.
Whooping cough can also lead to pneumonia and other complications.
But babies can’t get their first dose of the vaccine that protects against whooping cough, also called pertussis, till they’re 2 months old.
“That’s why it’s important for pregnant women to get the pertussis vaccine when they’re pregnant,” Tan said, “so that you can protect your baby for the first two months of life until they’re old enough to be vaccinated themselves.”
Even before the pandemic, only about half of pregnant women got the pertussis vaccine. Now, that number is even lower.
In King County, of the 12 babies who have been seen with whooping cough this year, none of their mothers got the shot during pregnancy.
Vaccine fears, and confidence Dr. Chow, with Public Health-Seattle & King County, said that’s a missed opportunity.
“Sometimes you require a kind of sit-down conversation with the patient who may be a little bit more hesitant or may have encountered misinformation,” he said, “so it just requires a longer time to build trust and rapport.”
Also, not all obstetrician/gynecologists offer the vaccine in their offices, and some people don’t have the bandwidth to go to a pharmacy for a shot.
At a playground in Seattle’s White Center neighborhood, Kay said she has two kids, ages 12 and 4, and she’s always been hesitant about vaccines.
Kay declined to give her last name because she’s concerned about revealing private medical information.
“With COVID, it even made it even more scary, because everybody started coming out saying, ‘The COVID shot’s not actually good for you,’” Kay said. “So I was like, ‘Maybe the other vaccines are bad too.’ And then I went down the rabbit hole of looking up kids who have supposedly gotten vaccinations and passed away.”
Experts say vaccines are very safe and can prevent diseases that once killed or harmed many babies, children, and adults.
Kay eventually got her 4-year-old daughter the shots required for daycare but nothing else.
“It's hard for me to get childcare, and it's just easier for me to say, ‘OK, just give me whatever she needs, just to get her into school,’” Kay said.
So her daughter did get the required whooping cough vaccines — but not any COVID shots, which are not mandated.
Aaron Sittinghorse was at the same playground with his 3-year-old daughter. He said the pandemic had the opposite effect on his thoughts about vaccines.
“It opened up my eyes to how important they are,” he said, “and so now, I'm a believer in vaccines. It's important, even if it's not for yourself, but for everybody around you.”
Sittinghorse said he saw on the news that there’s a whooping-cough outbreak right now, and it worries him a little — but not too much, because he and his family are up to date on their vaccines.
Hi! Could you elaborate a bit more about PCOS as an intersex condition? I have PCOS myself, I've actually been told (very aggressively) the opposite, that people with PCOS (esp those who identify as cis women) hate to be categorized as intersex for several reasons, so your comment about it really being an intersex condition was surprising.
Well, it's pretty simple:
Intersex is defined as atypical variations of sexual traits or the reproductive system. Especially if it results in a mix of traits society considers masculine and feminine.
PCOS is exactly that. It's a variation of the development of ovaries, and it often results in increased testosterone production in relation to typical AFAB people, as well as other hormonal differences, leading to a particular body type and increased chance of growing facial hair.
If that's not an intersex condition, what is?
The thing is, it hasn't been considered or treated as an intersex comdition for a long time.
So interphobia comes into play, and maybe some people who have it don't want to identify that way. But mostly, what you're encountering is bullshit from gatekeepers.
The intersex community is full of people who've been deeply traumatized and fighting fruitlessly for recognition for generations. It's pretty easy for us to fall prey to the urge to gatekeep, even though intersex is a really wide and varied umbrella covering a hugely diverse set of conditions and experiences.
And then you've got the TERFs and their ilk trying to define us and pit us against trans people, and sewing misinformation that way. The whole "cis women who have PCOS don't want to identify as intersex" thing really sounds like it comes from them, honestly.
Anyway, if you ask an actual intersex activist, or just about any scientist who works at an intersex clinic (such as Seattle Children's Hospital Differences in Sex Development) they'll say it's really an intersex condition.
Life Is Strange. Where are they now scenarios
It's officially been 10 years since the events of LIS1. So this is my scenarios for what could happen in both of the endings for each of the characters.
Save Chloe ending
Max and Chloe are wanderers. Until they decide to settle down in New York. Or in Seattle. I'd like it to be Seattle since Max's parents are there and Victoria too. But regardless of where they choose, Max settle down. Max gets a job as a photojournalist and Chloe becomes a mechanic/tattoo artist and opens up a garage that offers both of her expertise. At some point Max meets a man named Brody. Brody tells the story of two boys he met and asks Max to help prove their innocence. Max eventually does. She goes back in time to witness the Seattle Incident. Max witnessed everything and uses her eyewitness testimony plus photographic evidence to help prove Sean and Daniel's innocence. Eventually Max and Chloe are haunted by the storm. The memories of what they lost and decide that the only way to deal with these emotions and thoughts is to go to the Arcadia Bay Memorial. When they get there. Max passes out and is brought to a nightmare. She's brought back to the week, she has to go through it several times and notices several variables she missed(Nathan knowing about the storm, Sean Prescott as the mastermind, saving Nathan and ending in the hospital) but it keeps going until Rachel appears. For a more in depth look, see this post. But bottom line is Max eventually saves Rachel and by saving Rachel she saves Arcadia Bay AND Chloe. As Max, Chloe and Rachel prepare to leave Arcadia Bay, everyone is there to see them off. Joyce hugs them, Chloe and David shake hands, Warren and Kate hug Max goodbye and it closes on Max, Chloe and Rachel driving off into the rainbow and heading towards Los Angeles.
Victoria sees a therapist and leads her family's gallery until she overcomes her trauma and does not let what Jeffershit does harms her love of photography. Max and Victoria occasionally get together and share their work since Arcadia Bay.
Kate survives in the hospital since Michel confirmed she survived on threads. She writes a book for children and does podcasts about surviving Arcadia Bay and about surviving a serial killer and bullying. This is how Max, Chloe and Victoria find her. At some point Kate and Victoria go through a slow burn of dealing with their trauma in therapy, going through the bullying and learning to forgive each other. It begins as friendship and blossoms into a relationship and what started as a victim and a bully ends as girlfriends.
Steph is with Alex. Steph and Alex start off as a traveling band and even Izzy joins them. Eventually they visit Haven and catch up with RYan, but Ryan asks to join them as he can't stay knowing what his father did and losing Gabe and his mother, there's nothing for him there. So Ryan leaves with Alex and Steph and joins the band. At some point Steph and Alex meets up with Max and Chloe. Steph and Chloe reconnect and Max befriends Alex. They bond over their powers and what they've been through. However Alex notices Max's guilt after hearing Steph's story about surviving Arcadia Bay. Alex convinces Max to tell Steph the truth. Max eventually tells Steph about how saving Chloe caused the storm that wiped the town. Steph is mad for a while, but eventually forgives Max and Chloe. Every year or so Alex, Steph, Mikey, Max and Chloe get together to play D&D. Alex and Steph eventually settles down in Salem.
David would remain in Away. He would be visited by Max and Chloe, Sean and Daniel and to his shock and relief, Kate. While David mourns for Joyce, he found peace in Away and has a better relationship with his step-daughter and made peace with someone he really hurt, even if he doesn't deserve it.
Save Arcadia Bay
Max grieves for a long time until she decides to live her life. She realizes that Chloe would want her to live. She has the memories of Chloe and holds her in her heart. She has Warren, Kate and all her friends in Arcadia Bay. She graduates with Warren by her side. Max goes on to be a successful photojournalist. At some point Max meets a man named Brody. Brody tells the story of two boys he met and asks Max to help prove their innocence. Max eventually does. She goes back in time to witness the Seattle Incident. Max witnessed everything and uses her eyewitness testimony plus photographic evidence to help prove Sean and Daniel's innocence.
Warren would be a positive presence for Max, always there for her and a good influence during her grieving period. They’d watch movies together in their dorm rooms and just hangout. In a sense, Warren becomes what Rachel was for Chloe, her angel. Warren’s presence soothes Max’s broken heart and this is why Max slowly falls in love with him. They graduate together, go to college, Warren becomes a chemistry professor in the UO while Max becomes a photojournalist. When they are older, they get married and have children. Warren becomes the Maes Hughes of his university showing off Max and their kids lol
Like in the Save Chloe ending, Kate goes on to become a author for children's book and goes on to talk about her experiences with Jefferson and bullying in the hopes it could help so many people struggling with bullying. While maintaining a close friendship with Max.
Victoria would be horrified of what Nathan and Jefferson did. Max and Victoria would make peace and Victoria would help her through her grief, which would result in Max and Victoria finally becoming friends. Victoria, Taylor and Courtney would take Max out for shopping, dress Max up and Victoria would help reignite Max’s love for photography and would not let Jefferson ruin her passion. Max and Victoria together would take some killer shots. Victoria would tell Max “when you are a famous photographer, you can put your pictures in my gallery” and it was a deal, Max would focus on becoming a photographer and Victoria would become heir to the Chase Space. Max and Victoria embrace in a hug.
Joyce and David would divorce. Joyce just had enough and realizes she held responsibility for failing Chloe and for allowing David to be a toxic and abusive influence in her life, but she just didn't want to see it. In a way she still loves him, but she can't have him in her life anymore, while David knows he failed Joyce and Chloe and leaves to atone.
Nathan does time in a prison for a brief period before he goes to a mental institution. He gets visits from Victoria and his sister Kristen. Max would confront Nathan in a mental institution. Upon being visited by Max, Nathan would break down in tears and tell her he did not mean to kill Chloe, hurt Kate or hurt Rachel. He didn’t want to hurt anyone and profusely apologize, but he knows he has to live with what he’s done and Max takes it upon herself to forgive Nathan. This results in a monthly visit where Max and Victoria would visit Nathan, think of this like the fanfic The Sense Of Me for Max and Nathan’s friendship.
The whole “suspected Claims Adjuster has terrible back pain and a lumbar fusion” addition to the lore is crazy because it reminds me that my own major medical story only had a happy ending because insurance companies didn’t get a chance to fuck with me.
When I was a kid I had such a bad case of progressive idiopathic scoliosis that I was one of the rare cases where if they didn’t operate to fuse my spine, I would have died a slow, painful, deforming death. It was a six hour surgery involving a lot of expensive titanium hardware and ten days in the hospital.
The only reason my parents weren’t irreparably bankrupted was because Seattle Children’s Hospital directed part of a Gates Foundation grant to cover the surgery in full. I can’t imagine how much worse that situation would have been if they’d had to fight with an insurance company too. 12 years later, they got slammed with a $13,000 bill for an emergency ankle surgery my youngest brother needed, and it’s been a serious financial burden.
All that to say, fuck insurance companies and bravo Luigi if it really was you.
He attended the University of Iowa for his undergraduate studies. He pursued a career in medicine, attending medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
Alex began his medical career as an intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, where he quickly gained a reputation for his brash and competitive demeanor. Throughout his residency and beyond, Alex advanced in his career, specializing in pediatric surgery. He demonstrated exceptional surgical skills and earned the respect of his colleagues, even if at times, he faced ethical dilemmas, which put him at odds with superiors.
Alex faced various personal struggles throughout his career, including insecurities stemming from his difficult upbringing and challenges in his relationships. He can be quick-tempered, cocky and harsh, but over time, Alex underwent significant character development, revealing a more compassionate and caring side. . He formed close bonds with his patients, particularly children, and showed a willingness to go above and beyond for their well-being.
He also formed close relationships with fellow interns Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, George O'Malley, and Izzie Stevens. Over time, he turned into less of 'evil spawn' and more Alex to them. He and Meredith were especially close, once they were the only two left.
He was a womanizer for a long time, but had some long-term relationships too, with people, such as Izzie Stephens, who he had a tumultous relationship and marriage with, before she left, Lexie Grey, and Jo Wilson. There are many others (which can be found at the bio linked below).
Later down the road, it was revealed that Alex reunited with Izzie Stevens, who had his children through IVF, using his sperm. He chose to make the hard decision to Seattle and his career behind, to be with Izzie and their children.
Banana Fish & Films PART 1
Recommendations based on aesthetics, themes, decade etc…
These are just my personal recommendations for movies similar to Banana Fish. Most of these films from 1960-90s revolving around some sort of street culture gangs, prostitution, trafficking, drugs all that good stuff…also a few of these I haven’t watched in years so the description may be a little off LOL
TAXI DRIVER 1976
“All the animals come out at night. Whores, skunk-pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies. Sick and venal.”
Taxi Driver follows a former Vietnam solider insomniac 26-year-old Travis (Robert De Niro) who takes night shifts as a cab driver in NYC. The story is mostly told through his inner monologue, where he talks about his his loneliness and depression along with telling stories of his interactions with his customers. He crosses paths with a 12-year-old prostitute Iris, (Jodie Foster) whom he tries rescuing from her situation.
This film was recommended by Yoshida.
THE WARRIORS 1979
“Since when the fuck are you a diplomat?”
After being blamed for the killing of a rival gang leader in the Bronx, the Warriors have dozens of New York City street gangs are out for revenge battling over turf that ranges from Bronx to Coney Island where the Warriors reside.
STREETWISE 1984
“No one to tell you where to go or what to do.”
A documentary on Street Kids in Seattle Washington 1984. Many of the teenagers do dangerous hustling gigs to survive on the streets.
There’s a story about a girl who is a prostitute with her mother’s knowledge, though her mother is against the idea she doesn’t stop her since it brings in money. Similar situation with Ash and his father..I have seen people say “I can’t believe his father would do that!” or that it’s totally unrealistic. Unfortunately these terrible things do happen, and even though Banana Fish is fictional and exaggerated, the crimes featured are really not far off for the time. Child exploitation human trafficking was huge, that’s one of the reasons how the milk carton missing persons started back in the eighties, especially through mafia/politicians in Europe.
PLATOON 1986
“Any way you cut it, Barnes is a fucking murderer.”
This movie was recommended by Yoshida.
Chris Taylor (Charlie Seen) leaves university to enlist in the Vietnam war. His experiences in combat fades his idealisms of what war is really about and what the troops are fighting this war for. His two Sargents, Barnes (Tom Berneger) and Elias (Williem Dafoe) are constantly arguing together over their morals. Barnes has violent approaches and believes the villagers are harboring Vietcong, while Elias has a more sympathetic view of the villagers and the war. Their disagreements began putting soldiers up against each other, as well as the enemies.
CRUISING 1980
“They told me that there was some... special assignment... and that I was right for it.”
Steve Burns (Al Pacino) is tasked to go undercover cop as a gay man infiltrating New York’s S&M clubs for a psychopath who’s been violently killing homosexuals. Steve begins immersing himself in the subculture and club hopping. While this is going down, he becomes increasingly distant with his girlfriend and the police forces homophobia becomes more apparent as the case goes on.
KING OF NEW YORK 1990
“ I spent half my life in prison. I never got away with anything, and I never killed anybody that didn't deserve it.”
The biggest Kingpin of the underground Frank White (Christopher Walken) just got released from prison. He’s different from most gangsters though. He shares his benefits with the poor, opening children’s hospitals and protecting the wellbeing of underprivileged citizens. Though the streets are much tougher than before. The mafia, Chinatown and Colombian gangs are running the streets partaking in child human trafficking and prostitution, unnecessary killings and racketeering. Frank’s not a fan of how they do business, and puts an end to it.
One of my favorites..the ending even ends similar to Banana Fish and there’s these two gay ass cop partners that the one kisses him towards the end (no spoilerrr) Frank is a super morally grey gangster and very similar to Ash in his beliefs. Film features many famous 90s actors. Must watch.
THE OUTSIDERS 1983
“I used to talk about killing myself all the time, man. But I don't wanna die now. It ain't long enough. Sixteen years ain't gonna be long enough.”
Based on the novel of the same name, an American classic most of us had to read in middle school.
A teenage gang in 1960s Oklahoma, the Greasers have constant clashes with another rival gang the Socs. When Ponyboy (C. Thomas Howell) and Johnny (Ralph Macchio) get into a brawl that leads to the death of a Soc member, they are forced to run away into hiding. With help from their friend Dally (Matt Dillon) he tells them a place out in the rural part of town they can hide until the situation dies down. They are eventually forced to return back to their town after a tragic incident with Johnny happens, and they’re subjected to the consequences of their violent lives once again.
First Christmas with College! Abby
Warnings: mentions of death, swearing, mentions of grief…Summary: A little background on how you got into a relationship with lacrosse player Abby Anderson and how the two of you spent your first Christmas together.
You’d started dating Abby Anderson towards the end of your freshman year, of college. She was a year older than you, but that had never made anything about your relationship unorthodox.
The two of you had actually met at an on campus support group, for students who were grieving the loss of their loved ones. You’d lost an aunt who you’d been very close with, leading you to join the group. Per your guidance councillor’s suggestion. That’s when you met Abby.
You’d heard briefly about the horrifying civilian attack on the Seattle Women and Children’s hospital, just not the full extent of it. All you knew was that an angry man had stormed the building, killing multiple doctors, surgeons and patients. Two months into attending the group and you’d found out that one of the victims was named Jerry Anderson. Abby’s father.
Reluctance was the perfect word to describe your feelings towards befriending Abby. At first glance she wasn’t the kind of person one would think to approach, but once you’d started to share more and her the same, you knew you wanted to get to know her better. Not to mention you’d always had a crush on her ever since you’d seen her photo in the college newsletter.
‘Top right, Star Lacrosse Player; Abby Anderson’ With a photo of her holding up a bronze trophy, her teammates huddled around her in joy. Since then she’d been merely a hallway crush, someone you’d see at games and swoon over or pass by in different campus buildings and drool about.
Tired of waiting, you made the move to talk to the bulky and fierce girl one day after group. You were mixing yourself a cup of coffee to go at the craft table when you spotted her doing the same. After you’d made a quirky comment on her lack of sugar she let out the cutest little chuckle ever. One thing led to another and the day ended with you being walked back to your dorm by the girl you’d been silently crushing on for months.
The relationship started off slow, with your and her education and her athletic career you both had your hands tied. But by the end of the summer your relationship has blossomed into something you’d only thought happened in movies. The two of you spent the first three weeks of summer vacation at her late fathers lake house. Your relationship only growing stronger. But by the second month of summer she’d flown off to Europe with her lacrosse team for professional training. Her absence though saddening was relieving to you, as you always worried about her spending the holidays alone in her home without anyone their to care for her.
Fast forward to four months later and you and Abby were spending your first Christmas together. You’d spent months wracking your brain on what kind of gift you’d be getting your girlfriend. Seeing as she could afford anything she wanted with the large inheritance she’d gotten after her fathers death. You knew she appreciated things from the heart rather than grand gestures so that’s what you did.
You recalled a few months into your relationship with Abby when you had told her your favourite holiday was Christmas. She’d simply frowned and then told you all about how lonely Christmas usually was for her. When her dad was still around he was usually stuck at work, leaving her to spend the holidays on her own. She’d never gotten experienced a big Christmas dinner, the taste of homemade eggnog and had never even had a Christmas stocking.
That’s when you knew exactly what you’d be getting her this year. You’d made a commission on Etsy, sending a design you’d made on your own. Including her lacrosse number, her initials, little symbols that meant a lot to her and the embroidered Star signs of both her and her father. You’d spent the entire week hiding the stocking in different areas of the house, seeing as Abby always seemed to be looking for something.
When Christmas morning had finally come you’d coaxed your handsy and needy girlfriend from bed, before things could escalate further and ushered her towards the little but full of life Christmas tree. She’d insisted you open your first to which you reluctantly agreed.
“Abby, you didn’t!” You yelled, a little louder than necessary.
“It has our initials, do you like it?” She was scared from your reaction that maybe she’d gone a little over the top.
“Like It? I fucking love it. You bought me a Tiffany Abby!” You inspect the necklace further, only to find your initials and hers had been engraved onto the back. Immediately the waterworks were let free and she was rushing over to hug you in fear that she’d somehow upset you.
“Baby, please don’t cry.” She holds you tightly towards her broad chest and you’re trying to stop the tears but you’re just so happy.
“I’m sorry, it’s just so beautiful. Thank you Abby.”
“Ofcourse, anything for you.”
“Alright, mine isn’t as fancy and expensive. I hope you still like it.” You hand her the box that was wrapped in red wrapping paper and littered with little snowman’s.
“Anything from you I’ll like, trust me.” She grins, her hands making quick work of tearing apart the wrapping paper. She finally gets to the gift box and slowly opens the lid. She lifts the stocking and immediately her heart stops.
For a few minutes the house is dead silent, you were sure you could hear a pin drop. Abby hasn’t said a word and you’re fearing that maybe your gift wasn’t good enough in comparison to hers. Before you could ask she’s sobbing and throwing her arms around you.
“Thank you, I love you so much, I love it.” She’s mumbling into your chest, the tears making your sleep shirt damp but you didn’t mind.
“You really love it?”
“My dad and I’s horoscope, our initials, the stocking in general. You know that’s all I’ve ever wanted thank you for being so thoughtful.”
“I’m glad you liked it.” You smile, as she finally removes herself from your chest, wiping away the tears.
“Not liked, I fucking loved it, best Christmas ever.”
“Abby it’s only 9am.”
“Doesn’t matter, still the best Christmas ever.”
The rest of the day was spent in the kitchen, with you instructing Abby on what to do as you attempted to put together the best Christmas dinner you possibly could. The table consisted of a whole leg ham, eggnog (a recipe you’d found online), lots of potatoes and a Yule log that you had to stop Abby from devouring before the ham had baked through. After a filling dinner, shared kisses and screening of home alone in the living area. Abby had taken you into the bedroom to give you your last Christmas present of the night
Erin Reed at Erin In The Morning:
In an interview with ABC News on Sunday, JD Vance claimed that Minnesota Governor and Harris VP running mate Tim Walz signed a bill allowing the state to kidnap a transgender child if their parents did not approve of their transition. However, the bill Vance referenced actually provides refuge for transgender youth and their parents fleeing unsafe states where their care is criminalized. The legislation contains no provision allowing the state to “kidnap” children when their parents do not support their gender transition. These claims arise from an intentional misinterpretation of a provision that specifically applies to custody disputes between parents in different states. In the interview, Vance sat down with "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl, who pushed back against the claims:
[Karl: “[Trump] said that Tim Walz signed a letter letting the state kidnap children to change their gender, allowing pedophiles to be exempt from crimes… this is not true, this is not remotely true.” Vance: “What President Trump said, Jon, is that Tim Walz has supported taking children from their parents if the parents don't consent to gender reassignment, that is crazy…Tim Walz gets on his high horse about ‘mind your own damn business.’ One way of minding your own damn business, Jon, is to not try to take my children away from me.” Karl: “He has not signed a law allowing the state to kidnap children to change their sexual identity.” Vance: “What I just explained to you I would describe as kidnapping.” Karl: “That’s crazy, come on.”]
The claim that HF 146, also known as the “Trans Refuge Law,” would allow the state to kidnap children stems from a deliberately misleading interpretation of the bill. Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project and director of millions of dollars in anti-transgender ads targeting Democrats, pointed to a section of the bill stating that the state can take jurisdiction if a child is “present in the state” and has been unable to obtain gender-affirming healthcare. Deliberate misinterpretations of this clause is the primary source of false claims about the Minnesota law.
What Vance, Schilling, and others fail to mention is that the provision in question applies to Section 518D of Minnesota law, known as the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act. This act, adopted by most states in the U.S., addresses disputes between divorced parents when one parent lives in or moves to a different state, or when multiple states have competing claims to jurisdiction over custody cases. The specific provision highlighted by Schilling and referred to by Trump and Vance states that the state can take “temporary emergency jurisdiction.” This does not equate to taking custody of the child; rather, it allows a judge to hear a case in a custody dispute where one parent resides in a state that criminalizes trans care and the other in a state where such care is legal. Notably, it does not even tell the judge who should be awarded custody, it merely allows a court in Minnesota to hear such a custody dispute.
[...] Most importantly, the claim that Walz supports the state “kidnapping children” from their parents to “trans” them is absolutely false. Walz signed a bill making the state a refuge for transgender people fleeing states that criminalize their care. The bill not only responds to states like Texas and Florida, which have indeed threatened to remove transgender kids from supportive parents, but also to cases where attorneys general attempted to subpoena medical records across state lines, such as when Attorney General Ken Paxton sought medical records from Seattle Children’s Hospital; a similar law protected transgender youth who received care there. Similar protections have also since been extended to abortion patients and providers, who face nearly identical issues.
Appearing on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, JD Vance (R) baselessly claimed that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) signed a bill (HF146) that allow the state to “kidnap children”. The bill in question deals with custody disputes and trans safe refuge.
Interviewer Jonathan Karl called out Vance’s bogus lie with this: “He has not signed a law allowing the state to kidnap children to change their sexual identity.”
