Amy Pond canon-compliant character study (I will rip your heart out just like I did mine)
You are Amy Pond and your best friend is a man who tumbled into your life when you were a child and turned you into the town’s Cassandra, doomed to never be believed, doomed to believe without salvation, and yet your faith in has never wavered, because what would you be without him? You don't remember existing in a world without your god.
You are Amy Pond and you are kind and you have faith until that faith is forcefully broken to save your life. You become Lucy Pevensie, cast out of your kingdom by the only god you have ever believed in, so you choose to build your own kingdom, to make a life out of the wreckage that he left behind.
But that is not enough. It will never be enough. You are not allowed to leave this story. You are not allowed to grow up in a way that matters, because every time you try to choose, every time that you try to build a life of your own, you are dragged back into this story.
You are Amy Pond and this is a horror story, a tragedy, because you were never allowed to make a choice unless that choice is to die. You are not allowed to choose unless it is to kill yourself. You die on Appalappachia. You die in Manhattan. Any time you get to make a decision, death is there, hand outstretched, ready to walk you off the stage.
You are Amy Pond and you are a ghost haunting other people's stories.
You are Amy Pond and you died before you were born.
You are Amy Pond and you are kind even though the world was never kind to you and maybe, just maybe, this would have been a kinder story if you hadn't believed. If you hadn't held faith. If you had let the memory of your imaginary friend slide away.
The world might have ended earlier. The universe might have been worse off. But would you have? Would you have been happier?
The answer doesn't matter in the end. It never did.
Because there's nothing you can do. No other way this story ends.
You are Amy Pond and you do not get to leave. You do not get to change your story.
You are Amy Pond and you are Amelia Williams and you are Amelia Pond and your story ends as it began: with a girl sitting in a garden, waiting for a man to pick you up and take you to your death.
(Amy Pond and being trapped within the narrative: aka, the question of narrative framing and the consequences of faith.)

My Hot-Take/Controversial Ranking of Doctor Who Seasons (excluding specials bc my special order is really unhinged)
3 > 1 > 10 > 4 > 5 > 8 > 11 > 12 > 9 > 7b > 2 > 6 > 13 = 7a
Disclaimer: I have favorite episodes that come from every single season on this list, including 7a. For example, even though Season 6 is low on the list, the God Complex, Almost People/Rebel Flesh, and Impossible Astronaut are some of my favorite of the show. I do really love the Power of Three. These are based on season arc/average feeling per episode/rewatchability on a subjective level.
#doctor who#listen seasons 1 and three are basically perfect television for me#season 10 is one of the most fun of the show and bill is my second favorite companion and I love the twelve/missy arc#season 4 is full of banger after banger and journey's end slaps it just doesn't quite hit for me personally like seasons 1 3 and 10 do#season 5 has some episodes i don't like (victory of the daleks for example) but the fairytale vibes/beast below/amy's choice/big bang SLAP#Season 8 has some great episodes/good arc but i just really don't vibe with how cruel the Doctor is sometimes/Danny deserved better#Season 11 (other than fucking kerblam) i really enjoy! it has some weak writing in places but i love graham&ryan's arc & the smaller vibes#Season 12 is objectively better than season 11 but has weaker character arcs and some weaker episodes so eh#season 9 has one of the best finales in the show/some fun two-parters (i adore under the lake/before the flood) but the arcs feel off#7b is...fun & i like a lot of the episodes but i don't like the name/day/time of the doctor & it drags it down + clara's not fleshed out#season 2 is so good in places (cybermen 2-parter/school reunion/new earth) but has so many weak episodes & not as much character developmen#season 6...I love some episodes but I DESPISE the pregnancy arc/let's kill hitler/wedding of river song & how little agency Amy & river hav#season 13 is just...FINE. I enjoy some of the side characters (vinder bel karvanista) but the flux itself felt weirdly...boring? no emotion#(Jodie was SO GOOD in this season though btw)#and season 7a...asylum of the daleks dinosaurs on a spaceship & angels take manhattan are on my least favorite episodes list. like bottom 1#and I'm sorry but a town called mercy and power of three can't save that#amy and rory should have left with the god complex/christmas special and popped back like martha did in season 4#i said what i said#wow i really went off in the tags on this one#meta#rankings

Happy Easter 2024!
Here’s some pictures of chocolate eggs that I put very little effort into. (The pics I mean I didn’t put an effort into. Not the chocolate eggs. I will put an effort into eating the chocolate eggs though.) And a chocolate Easter bunny for a bonus.

ROBIN WAS ALWAYS MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP WHEN IT CAME FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST EVIL. his answer was always an enthusiastic 'yes' when buffy needed him for his muscles or even knowledge. he wanted to be helpful and make his mother proud, that's all he ever really wanted, and with the first parading around with the face of his mother, there was nothing more he'd like to do then to take this evil thing down. that's why he was here; patrolling alongside @wickedlehane , enjoying her company and her wit and even the valuable advice she'd throw his way ( when she was in a good mood, anyway ).
WITH HIS STAKE IN HAND, AT THE READY, AND HIS HIP PRACTICALLY CONNECTED TO HERS, THEY WALKED IN SYNC THROUGH THE FOG OF THE SUNNYDALE CEMETERY. faith had spunk and this positive, fun light he wasn't used to being around. it was definitely something he could get used to; something he knew deep down he needed currently in his life. he was hooked on something that he couldn't seem to let go of... avenging his mother. he looked over at her as he walked, “ i think i'm still figuring out the dynamic of the group back at buffy's house. i feel like i can't get a good read on --- what's that blonde guy's name ? spike. what's his story [ .... ] ” he asked, trying to be subtle because all the while, he knew damn well who that infamous vampire was. the son of a bitch that killed his mother, the same one that took away his whole life and childhood.

For pete's sake, we have to wait until november until the second part of season 7?! They can't blame covid or the strike. Both parts were filmed before the strike happened and we got a full trailer for 7b in august, and it's also a UK production, the strike was a Hollywood thing. Every other show who was actually affected by the strike is up and running. They were delayed by a couple of months, NOT ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF. This is bs. I don't even know with this show anymore. I'm a book reader so i'll still be on track with the story and the characters that i love so much if i choose to stop watching because this is really throwing me off.

There is no face, but the parents' names, the baby's name and her date of birth are shared. Congratulations to the parents and a life full of health and joy for little Blake Julia! https://www.instagram.com/diarmaidmurtagh/p/C4tdGaLPNC-/?img_index=1
Dear Blake Julia Anon,
The birth of a child is perhaps the greatest possible joy, to anyone. And I really liked her father's Buck Mackenzie impersonation in Season 7A, wrote about it, too.
Rankin and Maril already sent in their best and warmest wishes. Zero from the others, as far as I could check.
Congratulations to the happy & overwhelmed parents - and yes, this is exactly how it should be done:
Tumblr media
Things like this make you think there is something very strange about other people's birth announcements, no matter how you'd turn things around. Why, oh, why did She act like a single mom? Isn't that supremely disrespectful towards the co-creator of the happy event and painfully strange for herself?
Unless.... Enough said.
PS: and no, that was not about shippers. Shippers were just a readily available pretext to an incredibly cruel fuckery.

One of the most wonderful - and on my part, unexpected - story arcs from Season 7A was Claire's love for William, and the beautiful (if unusual) relationship they build.
William grows to know her and respect her. Claire grows to love William - not just because he's Jamie's son, but for his own sake.
From the moment she learned about William, Claire had two choices. She could have resented Jamie for fathering him, and tell Jamie to never speak of him. Or, she could have accepted him for what he is, and how he came to be, and recognize that it's a part of Jamie's life that doesn't belong to her.
Fortunately she chooses the second option. And as time passes, William becomes part of her life.
Which is demonstrated so beautifully in 07x08 "Turning Points":
Claire picks up the portrait of William from the battlefield, and gives it back to Jamie.
Claire brings up William when she's in the tent, bandaging Jamie's hand for the first time.
Claire goes to speak with William when Jamie is at Simon Fraser's bedside, and they have a wonderful exchange that shows just how much their relationship has grown this season.
She does all of these things because she recognizes and respects Jamie's love for William, and because she's grown to be fond of him herself. She wants to talk with Jamie about him. So that she can help him shoulder the burdens he carries, the worry he will always feel for his son.
Something so moving, and so emblematic of the selfless love she has for Jamie.

not to be like "buck needs a story line this season!!!" because i don't think we need a repeat of seasons five and six, but i must admit i AM curious how the season starts for him now that he's embraced his (bi)sexuality, got himself a boyfriend, and is just overall happier. putting him in the background for a handful of episodes made sense when there was only 10 to work with, but we know happy characters don't have a whole lot to do (hello, eddie in 7A!) so obviously there's about to be trouble ahead 👀

Respectfully, I don’t understand those who want a buddie realization or canon in season nine. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to settle for BuckTommy for a whole season. The relationship, is no different than bucks previous relationships. And season 7a, Tommy had 14 minutes of screen times. In 7b, he had 4. They were deliberate in his dialogue and their scenes together. Buck is STILL on his hamster wheel. We have made him such a “important character” in the 9-1-1 fandom. On both sides. However, his role in the show is never going to be as important we discuss him. The only important thing about him, is that he’s a male. Bucks first same sex relationship. That’s it. Oliver and Tim both said that buck would need to work for his next relationship (this was after BuckTommy was already together) (but not on our screen). What has buck needed to “work”? Tim made a point of telling us, more than once, that Buck's coming out and relationship with Tommy is deliberately light. Also, from Lou’s own mouth, said this relationship is just so buck can figure out the kinks.

so... first thoughts on the episode titles: "buzzkill" is the 118 dealing with gerrard and the bee emergency (and hopefully bt bones bc he's been nothing but a buzzkill) episode 2 (immediately thought it'll be "eddie begins again" because why else withhold that information but release the episode 3 title??) and it's all about eddie unravelling and starting to unrepress and the beginning of his queer/coming out arc "no place like home" is getting mara back with henren, bobby back at the 118, eddie going to texas (with buck?) to get chris back and tell his parents off and deal with that aspect of his repression/trauma/ queer arc (also if bt isn't bones by the end of 8x01 it'll be bones by the end of 8x03 when buck realises that home is wherever chris and eddie are).
I like the way you think nonie. I think ep 1 will be the bees and the new normal with Gerrard. If T*mmy is back for season 8 I think we should all anticipate him sticking around for at least a few eps. I mean it could be shorter, he could have been written out completely 🙏🙏 but we should just be prepared to deal with him for a little longer. I definitely don’t see him sticking around beyond mid season though especially given how annoyed Tim seems to be with that fandom. I think if T*mmy comes back both him and Gerrard will likely be wrapped around the same time.
It’s highly probable ep 2 is something about Eddie which is why we don’t know the title yet. Although they just might not have the title locked down yet. At the end of season 7 they changed a few titles if I remember correctly so it happens. Not to say that means the episode won’t be about Eddie cause I do think 8a in general is going to be heavily Eddie focused in the same way 7a had a lot of Buck.
I don’t know if Chris will be home by ep 3 nor do I think it’s necessarily the right time. I mean I love Chris and I hate that he’s with his grandparents but at the same time him being away kind of forces Eddie to deal with himself in a way he’s never had to before. I think it’d be better if Chris doesn’t come back till around mid season.
My speculation for ep 3 is that we may get some kind of sliding doors ep (a bunch of people on TikTok have talked about this). The ep title is a reference to The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy has a dream and in her dream she sees all the people in her real life just as different people. The sliding door trope is an alternate reality which shows a character what life would be like if they had made a different decision. So I suspect we may get that with Eddie.
Also The Wizard of Oz has for basically ever been connected to the lgbtq community. So the title “no place like home” could also be about Eddie having his queer awakening and coming home to his true self.
Plus like you speculated and another tie in with the title we’re likely to see Bobby back and Mara home with Henren by this ep.
(here’s a link to one of the videos about the sliding door theory btw - I posted a few on my blog)
