Seared bonito (cooking)

A famous dish of Kochi Prefecture. The surface of the bonito is roasted over a straw fire so that the surface is seared and the inside remains red. Cut this and eat it with sauce. It's exciting. I use a mixture of soy sauce, ground ginger, ground garlic, and tarragon to make the sauce.
カツオのタタキ(料理)
高知県の名物料理。カツオの表面を藁の火で炙り、表面を焼いて、中は赤いままとする。これを切り、タレを付けて食べる。豪快である。私は醤油、摺り生姜、摺りニンニク、タラゴンを混合してタレにしている。

かつおのたたき 高知の料理

Seared bonito Kochi cuisine
Bonito Tataki is a local Japanese dish made by thinly slicing fresh bonito and seasoning it with ginger, green onion, grated daikon radish, and soy sauce. Here I will explain how to make a simple bonito tataki. Materials: - Fresh bonito - ginger - green onion - Grated radish - soy sauce - Sesame oil (optional) Steps: 1. Preparation of bonito Wash the bonito thoroughly and remove moisture with kitchen paper. Slice the bonito thinly. 2. Preparation of seasonings Finely chop the green onions and grate the ginger. Prepare an appropriate amount of soy sauce. If you use sesame oil, you can mix in about 1 teaspoon. 3. Arrangement of bonito Arrange the bonito slices in a bowl. It's also delicious if you put grated radish on the surface. 4. Seasoning Place ginger, green onion, and grated daikon radish on top of the bonito flakes and sprinkle with soy sauce. If using sesame oil, add it at the end. 5. Enjoy If too much time passes, the flavor of the bonito will be lost, so please enjoy it as soon as possible. The key is to use fresh bonito.

The event period will run from October 10th until November 11th. Reservations will start on October 6th! It is advised to read the precautions before signing for a reservation, in which you can find through the AMOCAFE website.
Something peculiar about this collaboration menu is that it seems it will change halfway through the event. The first two weeks will serve a menu based off the Axis and the later half will serve based on the Allies! If you are dropping by this event for a certain character, please keep in mind of the dates!
That said, below are the menu items with each dish and drink being themed after each character. The dates, ingredients, and prices will all be included. Please keep in mind that I use a translator for all of these, so there may be mistakes!
Menu (10/10 - 10/24)
Italy
For dish, Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia- ¥1,540 yen each - Squid pasta/squid, tomato, and powdered cheese. For drink, Amaretto Milk Almond Latte - ¥880 yen each - Amaretto milk, and whipped/sliced almonds.
Germany
For dish, Baumkuchen - ¥1,210 yen each - Plain chocolate, marshmallow, and chocolate sauce. For drink, Kiba - ¥880 yen each - Cherry syrup, banana syrup, and milk.
Japan
For dish, Chestnut Rice and Seared Bonito Set Meal - ¥1,870 yen each - Seared bonito over straw, sliced onion, shiso leaf, daikon radish with ponzu sauce, boiled hijiki, chestnut rice, sesame salt, wakame, daikon miso soup, and bamboo charcoal powder. For drink, Brown Sugar Milk - ¥880 yen each - Brown sugar syrup, milk, and whipped warabi mochi.

July 31, 2024: Visited Kochi to sightsee at Katsurahama Beach, Kochi Castle, and Harimaya Bridge, and to eat “katsuo no tataki“ (seared bonito). I took a round trip from Osaka using a highway bus, completing it within 24 hours. Despite the short duration, I was able to fully enjoy the spontaneous trip.
It was too hot and tiring to visit Katsurahama Beach and Kochi Castle, but the highway bus was comfortable and the seared bonito was very tasty.

THE DEVIL ON MY SHOULDER: hunter sears faz parte de uma boyband que canta um estilo de música muito diferente da antiga banda de harry. os dois se conheceram num evento, ficaram amigos, e harry vive sendo a má influência que fica incentivando hunter a deixar a banda e seguir carreira solo. @huntsearsnod . 
DRINK BUDDIES: julian marrero participou de alguns episódios de the umbrella institute, e isso bastou para que ele e harry se conhecessem e se aproximassem. os dois não tem uma amizade muito profunda, exceto quando bebem, algumas verdades podem escapar. @jsmarrero .

MUSE 05: alguém que viva falando mal dele nas redes sociais. está sempre comentando as notícias que sai, incentivando as pessoas a não esquecerem das merdas que ele faz. ��não é só porque ele é um homem branco que devemos passar pano e esquecer as merdas que faz”. no entanto, quando se veem pessoalmente, muse 05 não fala nada por medo de sofrer algum tipo de agressão.

não tenho problema com age gap, porém como ele tem 36, acho que me sinto mais confortável com personagens a partir de 25 anos, pelo menos.  
MUSE 06: ela vive comentando as notícias dele, assim como muse 05, a diferença é que ela enfrenta ele pessoalmente também. a questão é: muse 06 ( cornelia reinhart ) se sente atraída por harry, que retribui o sentimento. por isso, ele vive a provocando e flertando com ela, coisas como “não dá pra passar pano só porque ele é bonito, porque ele é um escroto” “ah, então você me acha bonito???” @corneliarn. 
MUSE 07: há muitos anos, ele fez uma aposta idiota de dormir com essa garota, só porque ela estava no auge da fama. conseguiu o que queria, mas se ferrou porque acabou se apaixonando por ela. até hoje ela não o perdoa e sempre que pode lhe joga uma indireta (ou quem sabe uma música, se ela for cantora?)
MUSE 08: essa é o maior ponto fraco dele. costumava dizer que era o amor de sua vida, mas os dois sempre foram muito diferentes. como estavam apaixonados, era fácil superar isso e viver o amor que sentiam, até não ser mais. a idade veio, e a maturidade dela também, mas ele não acompanhou. muse 08 queria casar, ter filhos, e Harry também queria, mas ela simplesmente não confiava nele, então acabaram terminando. (bônus se hoje em dia ela estiver noiva ou casada, meio i bet you think about me mas ao contrário, onde ela casou, ele ficou solteiro, sozinho e infeliz).
MUSE 09: essa é que os fãs mais shippam com ele. muse 09 (cecilia white ) é tão encrenqueira e problemática quanto Harry, e os dois se estranharam no início, até se calarem com um beijo e perceberem que era muito mais interessante usarem suas bocas assim do que para discutir. hoje são amigos, que se pegam vez ou outra. @ceciwhite . 
MUSE 10: ela sabe que ele não presta. ele disse claramente, até tentou terminar o que nem começaram. mas muse 10 continua indo atrás, provocando até ele ceder... e ele sempre cede. vivem uma relação ioiô, um pouco tóxica, onde ele (um pouco de propósito e um pouco sem querer) acaba dando esperança para ela, apenas para partir na manhã seguinte sem nem se despedir. 
MUSE 11: ela flerta com ele por saber que é rico e famoso, mesmo sabendo da má fama e que ele é um cachorro. @scarlettfm . 
MUSE 12: florence madden é uma mulher mais velha, independente e com um currículo impressionante. tentando conseguir boas dicas, harry se aproximou dela há alguns anos, e os dois falavam apenas de trabalho, até harry decidir que queria tê-la em sua cama a qualquer custo. sabendo que se tratava de uma mulher experiente que não cairia fácil no seu papo, ele anda investindo aos poucos até descobrir do que florence gosta, e tentar alcançar o seu objetivo; que é pobre, por sinal. @lcdybird . 
MUSE 13: avery petterson se envolveu com harry durante uma noite. algo de momento, a noite mais louca e aleatória de L.A., uma das queridinhas da américa com o cara mais cancelado da internet. como bom cretino que é, acordou no dia seguinte e partiu sem dizer nada, nem deixar um bilhete, nem procurá-la depois. as coisas só pioraram quando, sem saber que eram ex-namoradas, harry passou a ser amigo com benefícios de cecilia. @averyxpetterson . 
MUSE 14: fahriye osbourne viajou com sua banda por alguns meses em um festival que percorreu os estados unidos. para o seu azar, a my physical romance também estava na turnê, e embora os outros rapazes fossem fáceis de lidar, harry atrapalhava os ensaios, os momentos de desconstração e a passagem de som. chegava caindo de bêbado, faltava ou atrasava para o show, arrumava briga com alguém... desde então, fahriye guarda um ranço do homem, que nunca fez questão de reverter, apenas aproveita que a irrita para atormentá-la mais um pouco e, vez ou outra, flertar com a artista. afinal, ela pode ser certinha e odiá-lo, mas ainda é uma gata! @miserybizz . 
MUSE 15: barbara moore aceitou uma relação muito casual e puramente sexual, não se importando se harry iria ligar para ela no dia seguinte ou não. no início, o músico adorava poder ter alguém em seus contatos que poderia ligar e pedir por sexo sem precisar de rodeios, mas de uns tempos para cá, passou a se incomodar por, pasmem, ser tratado como trata outras mulheres! só não se sabe se vai ter coragem de dizer ou fazer algo sobre. @barbiesinhamoore .

Full Day off In Kyoto
We started the day by walking over to our tour! Thomas thought it would take 20 minutes, but it was actually a 30 minute walk. We did it in 25. (Very proud of Meaghan and her still sore calves.)
We met the tour group outside of a FamilyMart at a train station nearby. There was an older Australian couple, a younger couple from LA (an Israeli guy and a Chinese woman) and then a young American-born Japanese kid from Mystic, Connecticut. We made a quick stop all together to have miso ice cream. It was good!
We hiked into the back of the temple and it was actually trickier than I would’ve expected. This is a theme with Japanese hikes I’m learning. I tried to hang back and help the older folks with the slick and steep parts. They’re 78 and it was definitely a little scary for them. The first stop was the old shrine. It was beautiful, moss-covered and full of fox statues. It is less visited because of the newer shrines at the top.
From there we visited a bamboo forest. It smelled of fish — apparently from the rotting of the new bamboo shoots. After that it was a hefty hike up to the gates themselves. We got to skip a lot of the tourists going this way! We saw shrines to many different Shinto deities and prayed at a few of them. The number of gates was insane. Most are donated by local companies as a thank you for the prosperity they’ve received. There are fox statues everywhere as they represent those specific gods. The foxes will hold specific things in their mouth- a scroll to represent wisdom and knowledge, a ball to bring your wishes to the gods, a key to bring benefits down from the gods to the people and a rice place to represent good harvest and business.
We walked up and down the ridge line visiting the different god’s shrines, and then climbed back down into town and the main temple area. It was pretty packed by the time we were done. Me and Meag immediately jetted out of there in an Uber because we wanted to make it to the Nishki fish market. We got there and it was a long covered hallway setup, like a lot of neat places in Japan.
We were both hungry so we stopped at the first stall. Big ole plate of that fat assed toro. Fuck me up with a little octopus with a quail egg brain on a stick. What’s next? Mother fucking EEL baby. Little beers.
After that we kept swimming up stream. Our next step was a little food hall area. Tempura shrimp & eel, eel on skewers, and a little horse sushi. All good. All groovy.
Next we stopped in a little shop and bought a few condiments. One was a nice furikake mix, another was a spicy miso, and then a chili paste. While Meag did that, I went and bought us little rice cake donuts with apples and nuts.
We loved this, and did a bit more wandering in the alley before calling it for nap time. Back at the hotel Meag sawed logs and I logged time in our outdoor bathtub. A tight hour later we were good to go! But go where? Anywhere.
We strolled one way. Nothing. We strolled another way: shrines. Temples. Towers! Cheese filled pastries in the shape of 10 yen coins. They have it all here folks. I tried to snap a photo of some ceramic wall titties and was accosted by the titty owner, and had to pay 100 yen copyright fee.
Having wandered a lot of alleys, we dipped into a beautiful little cocktail bar for a drink. I had a Japanese whisky. Meag had a shisho gin and tonic. My next round was their matcha old fashioned, but Meag stopped the show with the parmagiano gin mare. It had little peppers, drops of olive oil and cheese shaved right into it. So tasty!
Sadly we had to take off for dinner at this point, but dinner was a stunner in what had been a series of stunner dinners. Our first round was a wonderful sashimi. Then a seared eel and bonito. He seared it directly on a charcoal! That was cool. After that we had some amazing wagyu served on a hot ass brick.
We also had a little crab salad (don’t eat the leaf, I ate the leaf.) We also had the most amazing skewer of eel over rice with a raw egg. Not to be defeated by the end of our omakase I ordered an uni sandwich. So much uni! It fell out and Meag and I had to scramble to put it back in.
The chef was incredible! He suggested his favorite sake. He shared a bottle of sparkling sake with us for our anniversary (always lie when booking reservations, you never know what you’ll get!). It was great. He was so kind and his food was so good. The center of his kitchen was a charcoal grill with three stations. To our left, a steamer. It steamed plates, rice and fish! To the center: a super hot grill. There’d he’d top off charcoal, or heat… bricks. Then to the right was his multi-level grill. He’d move items up and down depending on their done-ness.
All and all it was great. Then we went home and realized I left my camera so we want back, said hi again, and then left for real! It was a really great way to spend our last night in Kyoto.
This morning we packed, we ate tiny hotdogs and egg sandwiches and hopped on the bullet train back to Tokyo. Tonight we hope to check out the Deaf owned izakaya, do another omakase and check out a bar we’ve been wanting to see.
