In modern au Aelin is definitely one to try and befriend Manon because she is her best friend’s girlfriend. They get along for the most part, although whenever they’re alone together they always end up in trouble because they don’t hold back and it can be destructive.

One thing they don’t share is punctuality, and it drives Aelin up the wall. They’d have an appointment set up for 1 pm, Manon would say that she’ll pick up Aelin and go together. Aelin is the kind who’d leave early enough to arrive at the appointment a few minutes early. However, Manon does not have that same punctuality and would show up five or ten minutes before their appointment.

It stresses her out, really. Because yes, Manon is right even when they’re late, their appointment usually starts at least 15 minutes after the set time so they’re good. She knows it, but it still stresses her out.

And Dorian covers up for his girlfriend.

Aelin would call Manon when she’s really late but her calls go unanswered. She’d call Dorian, asking him of her whereabouts.

“She’s on her way,” He’d say.

“She still hasn’t left, has she?”

“Why do you say that, she’s probably driving and can’t pick up the phone,”

“Tell her that if she’s not there in five minutes, I’m leaving,” Aelin knows that Manon hasn’t left yet, it’s the way Dorian is coming up with excuses that tells her what she needs to know. On her way? She’s probably still getting ready and Aelin doesn’t do well with waiting.
