I need a Science-Fantasy (Sci-Fy) story that starts like a typical medieval fantasy, before one day the heroes see something streak across the sky and they save a body from being destroyed from the wreckage. It turns out to be an alien being from the stars.

From there, the story combines magic and science, typical and nontypical situations, were the science fiction crosses into fantasy and back, creating this wild and crazy story about aliens and mad scientist, wizards and knights.

NO! I’m not talking about Star Wars or Star Trek.

I mean something original and strange that I feel that everyone might like, because it’s so different that it becomes something that people would want to see.

I don’t think I really have to worry about any of that Norm, because “The Signal” has tried to access my abilities as a (as I call myself) “Human Program”, which allows me access to a strange energy that’s supposed to be the source of weird science, mad magic, and things that people call “Imaginarium”.

But anyways, when they tried to call me, “The Signal” mentioned that I tasted weird when we talked. We talked once and they didn’t contact me after that.

Are there any other harmful extranormal religions to look out for? Other than Radiant Heart, I mean.

I’ve actually been meaning to put out some information on this. We’ve been seeing a lot of weird stuff lately in certain areas of the country and we haven’t yet collated it into an official statement. I checked and I’m okay to give you a rundown of this ahead of a more detailed overview later on.

Yeah, that’ll do it. Anyway, uh, content warning for explicit mentions of violence here. Theft, murder, assault, brain uploading, extranormal mutilation and/or vivisection, torture, attempted apotheosis, transmogrification, attempted creation of a post-post-post-human being via cyborgification, trafficking harmful extranormal items, the list sort of goes on.

We’re still trying to nail down a belief system or ontology. The ones we’ve managed to corner are not super…talkative. But we think that they’re related to The Signal, an extranormal force/phenomenon our AbTech division dealt with in the 1980s. We don’t know much about that either, but what we do know is that it travels or exists entirely within analog transmission devices and exerts a cognitohazardous effect on humans or near-humans.

Now, we don’t know how widespread they are, but we’re asking people to keep their eyes open for the following warning signs:

- cathode ray tube televisions behaving oddly

- an abnormal amount of static in televisions or radios

- a heightened interest in cathode ray tube televisions in the local population up to and including theft of such devices

- abnormal appearance and behavior of visually standard coaxial cables including growth, self-propulsion, splitting and “ivy” behavior

- blood or other substances “leaking” from the aforementioned devices

- persons using the aforementioned devices in place of surgically removed body parts, or integrated into the body. This includes coaxial cables, televisions, radios, VHS tapes or players, etc.

- graffiti or markings relating to any of the above

For the Laicion nation (aka, me and three other people)

I had this illustration commissioned (a big thank you to @lunehowls) for my werewolf AU Laicion fic (still a WIP).

The general pitch is as follows :

AU in which Laios never got to meet his sister again, putting his life on a whole other path, a more desperate one. A military deserter with barely a coin to his name, Laios hitches a ride on a boat to one of the elven continents, where he learns about magical tattoos that binds one’s soul to a wolf’s, effectively making them artificial werewolves. Illegal magic be damned, this feels like the answer to… everything.

In the process, he learns about the existence of an illegal fighting ring in one of the elven cities, where beastmen gladiators gather. Freshly tattooed and without anywhere else to go to, Laios decides to head there, where he meets Lycion, an elf and artificial werewolf gladiator. If they first bond over a simple shared meal, by spending time together (sharing the same room in the barracks, maybe the same bed? gasp) they find that they have a lot in common, notably a shared distaste for the body they were born in, a dysphoria partially remedied by becoming a werewolf.

They bond :)

Something that makes Farscape feel so bonkers (in a good way) is how they take an idea and just keep extrapolating from that to get every bit of story and characterization out of it they can.

Like, take Moya - a living ship. They could have just left it at, like, Moya occasionally having opinions that differ from the crews. But instead they take it much further...okay so if she's alive, then her species must reproduce. How do they do that? What happens when a leviathan is pregnant? What does giving birth look like? Are they a peaceful species or a violent one? What does it mean for a leviathan's identity if they are born with weapons? Do they have deities? If so, what are they like? What happens to leviathans as they age? How about when they die?

So on and so forth.

Or take the translator microbes. It'd be too easy to have translator microbes literally translate everything all the time and be forgotten after the first episode. But instead the show calls back to them occasionally. There's the old Luxon language that the microbes don't know. There's Sikozu, who can't use translator microbes.

It's worldbuilding, yes...but only through the lens of the experiences of the characters on screen. So it doesn't feel like lore-dumping. And yet everything keeps building off of what came before. So it feels grounded and bonkers at the same time.

Anyway I really like this show.
