Sorry for lack of dinos lately, I dont have the attention span to paint much more than a bust, but I wanted to do a hadrosaur today. So heres a Saurolophus :) First time drawing this taxa so if i goofed anything up major lmk

I've been trying my best to post an art piece every week. I intended to post a different drawing yesterday, but I wasn't able to finish it in time. I needed to draw something smaller & quicker since my self-imposed deadline was getting too close! I didn't have any WIP headshots I could finish instead & the poll I posted last week hadn't closed yet. I couldn't see the results before the end date without voting myself, which I didn't want to do.. so I resorted to using a random number generator to help me decide which of my art ideas to use for this headshot!

I ended up not being able to finish THIS on time either, whoops. now that the poll is over, I see that Zhihao didn't get any votes.. but this is the only thing I could post today anyway! really, when it comes to deciding what to draw next, I do prefer taking your input over a random number generator. I will be using the poll results to help me decide how to prioritize my art ideas in the coming months! I'll make a more detailed follow-up post to the poll later because I'm super sleepy right now! if you voted, thank you ^w^ I really appreciate your input!

Protective Parents

Even a giant Deinocheirus should know better than to get on the wrong side of an aggressive mother Saurolophus.

I know I continue to be behind, but I'm trying my best amidst some mental struggles. Even if I'm left playing catch up, I'm determined to get every piece done eventually, hopefully before the end of the month <3

Saurolophus

Saurolophus is a large hadrosaurid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous. It is one of the few genera of dinosaurs known from multiple continents. The type species, S. osborni, was described from Canadian fossils, and a second valid species, S. angustirostris, is represented by numerous specimens from Mongolia. Saurolophus is distinguished by a spike-like crest which projects up and back from the skull. It was a herbivorous dinosaur which could move about either bipedally or quadrupedally.

A fossilized vertebra of an indeterminate hadrosaur or duck-billed dinosaur from the Horseshoe Canyon Formation in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. There are currently multiple species of hadrosaurs from this deposit including Edmontosaurus regalis, Hypacrosaurus altispinus, and Saurolophus osborni. Unfortunately, the presence of multiple genera make identification of isolated vertebrae difficult, if not impossible to narrow down to any particular taxa. This specimen comes from the old collection of the late John Hearty of Glasgow, England who obtained it from the late Betty Spiers around the late 1970s to early 1980s. This specimen was originally labeled as the tyrannosaurid Albertosaurus sarcophagus, but the specimen most certainly belongs to a hadrosaurid.
