I finished fixing five pebbles' antennae & I'm almost finished fixing the thingy five pebbles is attached to! I'll see if I can fix artificer's tail next, & maybe I'll redraw more of five pebbles' head too cuz it also looks like it changes shape a bit too much.

it's been a while since I last made a progress report on my artificer animation project.

unfortunately there's not as much progress as I would've liked to have made in this time, but at least it's something! I wanted to finish this shot in february but I wasn't able to for reasons I don't remember anymore, & I didn't work on it at all during the month of march because I wanted to put all my focus on rain world art month.

but now that rain world art month is over, I've gotten back to work on the artificer project!

I'm still dividing my time between animating this, working on other big art projects (though they're not nearly as big as this xwx), making smaller art pieces & playing games (mostly sky: children of the light, rain world: the watcher, & outer wilds as of late! I also played a bit of laika: aged through blood yesterday), so progress will probably continue being slow for a while, but once I've finished enough of my other big art projects I think I'll be able to allot more time to this & progress will pick up!

recently I've been focusing on polishing the existing animation instead of drawing new frames. though, there are a lot of new frames in comparison to how many there were in my last progress report anyway.

I've been redrawing five pebbles' antennae (adjusting the placement), which I'm still not done with, & I tried redrawing the artificer's tail but I think I might've reverted a lot of the changes because I couldn't get it to look any better. I might keep trying.. I feel like their tail shortens/changes shape as it moves in a way it's not supposed to, & I'd really like to fix it if I can figure out how!

I'd also like to redraw some frames of the thingy that five pebbles is attached to. it moves weirdly, & the ball joints change in size wayyy too much! at the beginning they're too big, & at the end they're way too small. I might redraw five pebbles' head in some frames too, I think it looks a bit oddly shaped and/or maybe too big sometimes.

I've known of these flaws for a long time now, but put off fixing them for a while cuz it's kind of a pain. but I think I'm ready to tackle it now! something about finishing my watcher animation made me want to make this one look better for some reason ^w^

once I'm done fixing those issues, I think I'll be able to finish this shot pretty quickly! I look forward to finally moving on to the next one :D though we'll be in anti-gravity for a while.. sigh.. can't wait until arti gets out of there & I don't have to animate a bajillion frames of them floating anymore.

btw, by "finish" I just mean fully lined! I don't plan on coloring this until I've fully completed lining the entire animation, so I can focus on making sure everything moves right first. if I had chosen to color it as I go, that certainly would've made fixing the flaws I mentioned a lot harder ^^'

saying that empathy is what makes someone human is such an ableist remark.

there are numerous disorders that can impact a person’s ability to experience empathy, such as NPD, ASPD, autism. and that’s just to name a few, there are several more conditions that can cause a person to have low/no empathy.

it’s dehumanising to these communities of people with these mental health conditions as it implies that these people are less than human because of these illnesses.

it’s gross.

empathy doesn’t make people human. being a human being is what makes someone human.

day 30 of rain world art month! today's prompt was "memory conflux". I forgot to acknowledge yesterday that I missed day 28. I had a big & fun idea, but for some reason I just couldn't stand drawing that day.

I'm having so much fun with the new campaign!! I'm taking leisurely time exploring instead of rushing to beat the game ASAP & man, I'm discovering so many cool new things it feels like I'm playing rain world for the first time again! and there's a lot of mysteries! I have so many questions.. I'm excited to beat the campaign & see what kind of answers I get (if any!) ^w^

day 27 of rain world art month! today's prompt was "past garbage wastes", which made me remember how often I would see scavengers just piling up in the acid. scavengers would come into the room where there were already a few scavenger corpses floating in the acid, & join in like it was some kind of pool party.

unfortunately I missed day 25 (I just couldn't bring myself to draw much yesterday, & I slept for most of the day) but here's day 26 of rain world art month! today's prompt was "explosive parry".

day 24 of rain world art month! today's prompt was "slugpups", so I drew my slugpups in game w/ their parents as well as three of my OCs as slugpups! I loved this prompt so much & I'm super happy with how this drawing turned out!!

up in the top right corner we have the rivulet with their slugpup.. whom I haven't settled on a name for yet. when I found them I was thinking of them as bananapup, but then I started calling them buttercup, and then while I was drawing them I thought they looked like a honey, or honeybee perhaps! & then I thought of the name lemon. none of those names fit my personal slugcat oc naming conventions but that's ok, I can call them one name in game & assign them another name for when they're featuring in fanfiction or roleplays or something, if I do ever use them for that!

I haven't played on my rivulet safe file much since I found that slugpup (instead I've been trying to retrieve moon's cloak as survivor, doing arena mode challenges, getting references & just.. doing other things) so I don't know a lot about their personality yet, but I played one cycle today & I noticed they hate blue fruit hahah. anyway, I had pretty mixed feelings when I found that slugpup, as illustrated. I didn't enable pups for everyone, but since I share the PC with my younger siblings some mods that they enabled (really just mods that my sister enabled hahaha my brothers are vanilla players) on their accounts carry over to my game.

I love slugpups!! having them is so scary cuz I don't want them to die & I don't like having to restart if they die (feels like cheating.. & it's more interesting if they can die), but I will adopt almost any I find anyway because how can I resist? they are so cute & it makes my cycles more interesting to have a little guy (or two!) to take care of. usually despite the fear I'm really happy to find a slugpup! but in this case, having this little yellow fellow around is gonna seriously inhibit my mobility. I knew that the moment I found them.

slugpups can't breathe underwater for nearly as long as the rivulet can. I really hope that bubble weed works on them.. but I doubt it. & honestly I don't wanna risk it not working! I had the idea to get the pups+ mod on the off chance they turn into a waterpup, but alas.. fluffy. I'm stuck with this hairy child now & I'm just gonna have to live with it haha. at least I have two more save files. I don't really wanna have to go through the rot again T_T but since I already beat the game on this save file, it will be worth it for me to be able to keep that adorable yellow slugpup!

& then we have the gourmand & their two slugpups, green bean & their yet to be named little sibling. maybe snow bean? Ice bean? (those names also don't fit my personal slugcat oc naming conventions) green bean was also a slugpup that was not meant to spawn haha, they spawned in farm arrays during my first gourmand playthrough. they have died several times & each time I also died because my will to live was so much weaker when I knew that surviving this cycle would mean goodbye to my little green bean.. q_q maybe I'm not cut out for letting slugpups die after all hahaha.

the white slugpup was the guaranteed spawn after beating gourmand! I haven't played that save file much after beating it (so many other things to do in rain world & also I'm terrified of my slugpups dying haha) but I know they're energetic, they aaaalways tug on my arm whenever I stand still for just a moment haha. dear child let your parent rest.. by the way, green bean's alternate name for if I ever use him for a roleplay or fancomic or something is seaweed!

aaand the trio of slugpups at the bottom of the picture are my ocs not based on any slugpups I found in game! the fluffy one's name is blossom, the purple one's name is pole plant & the blue-green slugpup on the left still doesn't have a name. their color scheme reminds me so much of eggbugs but I feel like the name eggbug doesn't suit their personality u.u

anyway those three grow up to form an aggressive & rebellious little band of slugcats donning vulture masks! I decided not to draw them with vulture masks here because they get them when they're older & because it's so hard to resist drawing their faces. I wonder if anyone can relate, having a character that's supposed to wear a cool mask & it's a big part of their identity but you still rarely draw them with it because you love drawing faces too much XD
