Anime Expo Final Day: Q & A and Live Draw with Witch Hat Atelier's Kamome Shirahama

Sunday was not as bad as Saturday crowd wise, but still a bit hard to deal with.

I got into the second Witch Hat Atelier panel, which was a live draw with Kamome Shirahama! We weren't allowed to take pics of her of course, and she came in the Iguin cosplay and somehow managed to draw in it, but I did get to take a pic of the brush buddy:

And here's the live drawing she did (Quifrey by audience demand) which we were allowed to photograph.

I was taking notes throughout the panel but then the notes app just decided to stop working and I lost it all. But I did write down everything I remembered immediately after, so here we go:

When asked, Shirahama said her influences were American and French comics in addition to manga. She mentioned Akira and the French comic Mobius, as well as a French comic with "cities" in the title I couldn't catch.

EDIT: (According to gaston26 in the comments: "I think she talked about French comics artist Moebius and the french comics with cities in the title is most likely 'Les Cités obscures'. ;)" That sounds right!)

She says she was inspired by the art style and diversity of American comics. She was also inspired by children’s literature like The Neverending Story.

When asked about the diversity in her story, she quickly said that the diversity was intentional and the fact that its even a question shows that we need more diversity. She said, "Nobody would ask this if it was just a romance between a boy and a girl or something like that, so it shows there needs to be more".

When asked how she feels about Quifrey being so popular, she mentioned that Quifrey was going to be a villain but his design was so good she promoted him to a main character.

She stated that she tries to write a story her younger self would read, but she says she was a “twisted kid” so as a child she’d be saying things like “a Pegasus with those feathers wouldn’t be able to fly!”

When asked about the magic system she said she was still actually trying to learn the magic system herself.

She talked about magic as a metaphor for creativity and said her audience is very creative so she feels they could relate. She always wanted to write a fantasy. She mentioned again that she had a mangaka friend early on and that it really made her appreciate what goes into making art and got her thinking in that direction.

She stated that there are no real villains in her story, just people.

When asked about how she comes up with names, she said she “asks Google”. She wanted names where her character would be the only one that comes up in the google search. Early on, with names like Coco and Agott, she didn’t do this, but it made her mad when other things would come up in the google search. When asked if she was inspired by any sort of ethnicity/culture for characters, she asked to pick one, and was asked about Kustas. She said that was a tough question and eventually said she took inspiration from Rome and also indigenous Japanese cultures for him.

She said she doesn’t use screentone because she’s "lazy" and prefers to work with her ink pen. When asked about her assistants she said they are the best ones at doing speed lines, which she’s "bad" at.

She said Quifrey and Olruggio were partly inspired by people she knows- not in looks, but in personality. She said traits like being strict on the outside and sweet on the inside (I imagine she's referring to Olruggio there) were inspired by those people she used as models.

She also mentioned that she draws very fast!

And that's about all I got down.

After that, the day was kind of rough, as I temporarily lost my wallet but fortunately someone eventually turned it in to lost and found. I went to Little Tokyo and attended the pop up Akiba Maid War café there. I got a Ranko cookie! The maid who served us mentioned the cafe's rivals like the poison the drinks and did the spell thing. We got a singing performance where both our maid and the woman playing Manager danced, with Manager intentionally doing it very badly. It was fun!

And that's all for my con report! Hope there was some interesting info! I'll be posting cosplay I saw and art and merch I got later.

🟢Windswept ~ A Witch Cottage🟢Simblreen Gift🟢TS4🟢

Windswept is a Simblreen Gift for all of you! I started this build on October 11th & finished it October 20th when I sent it to Bodaccia for testing. I started working on finding all the links (that I was able to find) Saturday, the 21st. Let me tell you that there are over 900 pieces of cc (and several of their swatches!) in this build… I think I’ve been dreaming about missing texture files, links, Google, & Wayback Machine every night when I finally went to bed, LOL. Bodaccia informed me of some things that needed changing, & I worked on those over Wednesday & Thursday & finished them all on Friday when I sent it back to Bodaccia for “emergency” testing. While she was doing that, I was finishing up the links & taking pictures. I think the only time I’ve worked harder & faster was when I was participating in DOTY. It is now about 4 pm on Saturday, October 28th, & I just need the Tumblr to work…

Happy Simblreen!!! I hope you are pleased with Windswept for a long, long time.

This build came about as a wish from my youngest son, Ben. He wanted a fantastical Witch Cottage to play in, & we both thought that all of you might enjoy it, too. Windswept is based on real-life architectural plans & my imagination. As many of us adults, he has loved The Sims since the beginning. In fact, both my sons (Travis is my oldest) were responsible for getting me into this game. Ruben Dias x Reader - A House Is Not A Home Part 1/8

It's finally here! So excited for this new fic!😊😊

Ruben's wife dies during childbirth along with their son. Ruben hasn't been in a relationship since. Y/N is a single mother to a four year old boy. She buys a house in the small town that Ruben lives in. The house needs alot of fixing which Ruben helps with, resulting in him slowly falling in love with Y/N. However, falling in love with Y/N makes Ruben feel like he is betraying his dead wife.

You were stringing along an old country road on your way to your knew house. The gravel made the tires swerve beneath you but your grandpa's old Chevrolet was up for the challenge. It would be dark soon and light rain already tapped the car windows. By the time you arrived at the adress that you had been given, the breathtaking landscape was already swallowed by the night, preventing you from seeing anything beyond a two kilometer ratio. From the driveway of the house you could see a shed rising in the fields. Must be the barn, you thought. You had been informed that there would be a barn. You didn't own any animals but you could do other things with it, like turn it into an atelier to hold your art.

"Shit!"

You rushed towards the house as the rain was pouring now. Upon turning the key in the lock you were welcomed into a dark house with silhouettes of overcast furnitures.

"Shit."

You were told that the house was left furnished for the next owner, however you had not been informed about the absence of electricity. Seeing as there was a storm, you suspected a power outage. Despite this knowledge you kept flipping the switch, with nothing happening. The house remained in darkness.

"Come on." You sighed. It had already been long journey and all you longed for was a hot shower before bed. Getting started on the house would have to wait until tomorrow.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for a Ruben Dias?"

In case of any emergency, you had been informed to call the number of a local bar, perhaps the only bar in what appered to be a very small town. Despite the storm it only took you a couple of minutes to arrive. Since there was no power you hadn't been able to call. You had entered the semi full bar, asking for the name that was written next to the number you had been given.

"How can I help you sweetheart?" Said the man tending the bar. It was a Saturday night and the bartender found a way to take the next man's drink order, at the same time give you his full attention.

"A...are you Mr Dias?"

"Dias?" The man snorted. He looked to be in his late fifties, but it was hard to tell because of his vibrant personality and youthful smile. "As in Ruben Dias?"

"Yes. Are you him?"

The man laughed. "I'm afraid not. You won't get a hold of him tonight, I promise you that."

"B...but I was given his number to call in case of an emergency. I just moved into the house down the road but because of the storm I have no power."

"No?" The man looked genuinely concerned. "I'll see what I can do." He took a step back from the bar, grabbing the home line that hung on the wall behind him. As a call was made you took a seat in one of the stools before the counter, curiously turning your head. The people here looked different from the ones in your hometown. People back home looked more diversed, and younger some how. On a Saturday night like this one the bars back home would be swirling with loud college grads and well dressed people from the city. The people in this town looked old, you observed. At least the majority of them appered to be over forty years of age. There was a young man though, sitting on a stool not too far from you. Sitting was the wrong word to explain his posture. The man lay passed out drunk, his limb body collapsed upon the bar counter. He appeared to be asleep, snoring peaceful despite the noise around him. He wore flannel, typical attire for the majority of the men in the bar. It seemed to be the typical attire for all men of small towns in the English country. That and heavy boots that came in handy during their hard labor. To your surprise the drunk man wore black sneakers, Converse, for those who are interested in knowing the brand. As you focused more on the man's facial features you could tell that he was handsome. Beyond his thick beard and untamed hair, lay a young man with fair skin.

"Alright..." Said the bartender as he hung up the phone. He had noted your fixation of the man laying passed out on his bar table, causing you to feel embarrassed for staring. "My wife is on her way. She can help you." He said.

"Is she an electrician?"

Again the man's face flared up along his marvelous laughter. "No she is not, but I dare see her try. She is truly stubborn like that."

"Why is she coming then? How could she possibly help me?"

"Well, you are in a need of a place to stay, are you not?"

Because of the power outage you had no place to stay for the night. At least not if you wanted somewhere dry and warm to sleep.

"I would've taken you to her myself, but as you can see..." The man gestured at the sea of people before him. "....I am a little busy."

"Aren't there any hotels in town?"

Not to be rude, but the thought of being taken in by strangers automatically raised a red flag within you.

"Hotel?" The man frowned. "Aren't those for tourists, thought you were a local now?" There was a twinkle in his eyes, one that instantly made you feel at ease.

"What are you drinking sweetheart?" He asked, grabbing a glass from a trey.

"Um...somthing hot." You were shivering in your seat, your hair still wet from the rain.

"Tequila shot?"

"Not that kind of hot." You laughed.

"Hot chocolate it is." He winked, disappearing into the kitchen in the back. He would return with the tastiest hot chocolate that you had ever had.

"Oh poor girl..."

The bartenders wife arrived a few minutes later. She was a short and plump woman with platinum white hair.

"David, get her a towel." She said, ushering her husband back into the kitchen. Whilst he was gone you two made acquaintance. You told her your name and she told you hers, which was Katarina. You told her about moving into town and the power outage at your house, most likely caused by the storm.

"Not the warmest welcome huh?" She chuckled as she tried to warm you up with a blanket that had been draped over your shoulders. Her husband, David, returned with a towel, actually a table cloth, for your hair.

"Make sure to tell Ruben to come by early tomorrow." Katarina told her husband. "He might have to help Y/N clear up her yard after the storm."

At least they didn't lack hospitality in this town, you thought.

"Alright Y/N, I'm taking you home with me so you can take a hot shower and get yourself cleaned up."

"That's so kind of you, thank you."

You stood, your body shivering with cold. Katarina held you close, ready to escort you out of the bar. She turned to her husband. "You make sure he gets home too." She said, reffering to the man passed out drunk by the bar.

"Always. " David winked.

They were so kind and thoughtful here, you thought. You already felt at home.

I am super nervous to wear something else than D.Gray-man for the first time since 2019, it's my comfort fandom, but I wanted to try something else. ♡ Gray hair that reach to the back of his neck, red eyes with one of them has plus sign in them, pale skin, wearing the usual RSA uniform but his are more darker and more unique, one of his ears has more piercings than the other, he always wear that two necklaces who he always say to 'keep him at bay'. He had that halo that is both broken and melting but look closely to see that halo glitching from time to time and he has a tattoo on his shoulder(look below to see the tattoo)

Personality:

♡ Silent, mysterious but helpful is what any RSA student would say about him. Nobody knows much about him other than that he is very closed with RSA's headmage. He has the curiosity of a child but with a wariness of someone who seen some things. However he has a tendency to break and corrupted any devices in anger since he does not like it when people took videos and pictures without his consent. He is very kind to everyone even the children and the elderly. He is wary of certain NRC students even during the tournaments. He is very secretive with his information but he only trust very people. But after Chapter five, his personality changed(Add Wanderer's personality to his and this is him now)

This Housewarden of Misfits’s paradise is the prime example of never judge the book by its cover. He may look calm and collected but…don’t let him see you in that area. He is not afraid to use the side of his..a side that gotten him a horrifying reputation in Xegrari: The Merciless Angel.

saturday came by faster than heeseung would've liked. he didn't know how he pulled it off but he was beginning to think he shouldn't have. here he was in odd atelier, sitting among the audience as everyone watched his first love and her "guard dog" best friend sing a duet.

he looked around, watching the love struck expressions on his friends' faces. he couldn't believe what it has come to. all of his friends and himself, fighting for the only girl he has ever cared about in his life.

the song ended and heeseung thinks that even without his friends' boisterous applause, you would've still gotten huge cheers for your performance. you've always gotten attention wherever you went. maybe that was the one regret he had with falling for you. maybe if you hadn't been so lovable to everyone, he could've had you all to himself.

he snapped out of his selfish thoughts when an older woman walks onto the small stage.

"give it up to our acoustic duo of the week, y/n and donghyuck!" jisoo speaks enthusiastically into the mic. the two walks off, bowing in gratitude at the people cheering for them as they go to behind the bar for some water. singing for an hour straight really made their throats dry.

"now today's gonna be a little different, we have a special guest here singing for us tonight. i know all of you are only ever here for y/n," she jokes, causing the room to burst into small laughter. "but this one'll be a short one so if you have some time to spare, feel free to stay and listen!"

you and donghyuck share a questioning look to each other as you tied your aprons back on, both of you not knowing about this part of the night. the other closer, jay, who was making drinks, too was confused. acoustic nights had always been 8pm-9pm and was always the only event of the night. what did their manager jisoo have in plan?

someone from one of the tables stood up, making their way to the small stage. your eyes widen and you almost spit out the water in your mouth when they turned to you. donghyuck was no better when he actually did spit out his water, you jolt at the sudden cold on your neck, turning to smack him on the back of his head. he apologises, grabbing napkins to wipe your neck and shirt as you both watch the boy you once called your lover.

he sits on the seat you were previously sat on; behind the keyboard, and when he looks up right at you, you feel the world stop and your heart beating faster. the look he had on was a determined one, as he slowly plays a tune that was familiar to you.

he begins and you feel a tug in your heart. you've missed his singing voice. when you were dating, duets were a norm with you two and when those sleepless nights came to you, he would always sing you to sleep through the phone, only stopping when he could hear your soft snores on the other end. you turn to the older woman stood not too far from him, finding her looking right at you with a soft smile.

"what's going on?" you mouth, trying to push out his angelic singing voice out. you assumed all of them knew who heeseung was to you and you felt a little betrayed jisoo had done this. she replies with a short, "just listen," and you frown, turning away from her.

"too young to dumb to realise, that i should bought you flowers~"

at this point, jay had finished doing whatever orders he had and was standing next to you as everyone in the cafe watched heeseung perform. he had an arm around you, whispering a small "you okay?" in your ear, rubbing your upper arm in comfort as you only looked at him defeated, eyes watering. you couldn't help but feel like the song was dedicated to you.

you tried so hard to push away all the memories of him since he reappeared in your life and to have him come barging in once again, at your place of comfort, felt like you were being cornered. you loved him, truly you did love him a lot. but how could you forget all the hurt and pain he's caused you?

"oh, i know i'm probably much too late to try and apologise for my mistakes~"

"jongseong i—i'm gonna go, i can't do this right now," you quickly untie your apron, walking out the bar and straight to the exit, ignoring the worried look donghyuck sent from where he was taking orders at the moment. jay looked at jisoo, shaking his head in disappointment at the older woman. he respected her a lot but he couldn't believe this happened.

he takes a glance around the cafe, figuring jisoo and donghyuck could handle by themselves as the crowd seemed to be dying down. he shares a look with the older boy, the older telling him to hurry and find you. jay didn't care if jisoo scolds him later for leaving mid-shift, all that mattered to him right now was you.

sitting outside a random convenience store near your old college, you hear the chair scrape beside you. a familiar, comforting scent invaded your space. you sigh, looking down at your cup of mint chocolate ice cream.

"how ya feeling, bub?" jay scoots closer, lowering his head to look at your face. "how'd you find me, jjongie?"

"am i really your best friend if i don't know where you go when you're running away from all your problems?" he states matter-of-factly and you lift your head up to finally look at him. his cocky expression turns soft once he sees your face.

"come 'ere," he forcefully pulls you into him, not saying anything when he felt the collar of his shirt get wetter. you bury your face in his neck as he soothingly strokes your hair.

"why would he come back, jjongie?" you sob out, completely breaking apart in his arms. jay doesn't say anything, opting to just rub your back and let you cry all you want. he hasn't seen you in this state since your last boyfriend broke up with you. even then it wasn't this bad.

he gritted his teeth at the thought of lee heeseung. not only did the boy leave you at your happiest moment, it took you so long to build back trust towards those who truly loved and cared for you. and now that you were happy and content with life, he comes back ruining everything for you.

lee heeseung was lucky jay had to run off to find you. he was sure if he even got to interact with him one minute, the older wouldn't dare show up anywhere near odd atelier.

"shh, don't think about it, bubs. i'll make sure he doesn't come back, okay? now finish your toothpaste ice cream, i know you hate ice cream soup," you pout as he lifts your chin up to wipe the stray tears that fell. "i'm kidding," he grins, finding you adorable.

"you left work to find me?" you question the boy, stirring the melted ice cream around with the little spoon before finally putting it away on the table. "'course i did," he crosses one leg over the other and leans back, resting one arm on the back of your chair. "how will they manage? it's a saturday night,"

"they'll be fine. hyuck told me to find you, he's gonna bring our stuff over after shift so we can stay here for as long as you need until you're ready to go, okay?" you feel your heart warm at this. you were so lucky to be surrounded by people who care about you as much as your friends do.

you lean closer to the boy, resting your head on his shoulders. "thank you, jongseong."

jay has heard you call him that his whole life so why now, did his heart flutter? you two have had sleepovers and have slept in the same bed a million times before so why now, does he feel flustered at the proximity?

"anything for you, bubs."

The Queen is Dead (Manchester 2024) Day 1 🎀 (June 15th 2024, Saturday)

Set in the historical venue of Victoria Baths, this event was indeed unique!

My favorite part was ofc meeting mutuals. Tina ( @snow_priestess on IG) is such a major fashion inspiration. Actually seeing her and buying something from her booth was so fun!

Same goes for Krys ( @ hasenlace on IG) who I usually only see during special occasions. So I had to to travel to Manchester to see them even though we both live in Germany. 🥹 Coincidentally, we both wore pins from the same German artist on our collars, that was fun!

And Josine ( @ josinemaaike on IG) has been my fashion icon for years!! I'm so happy we finally got to meet. 💗

What occured to me during Sunday: The necklace I wore with my coord was actually the first ever egl / kawaii accessoire I bought during my first convention. I'm so happy I still wear it almost 10 years later! 🎀💗

One of the main events of that day was the fashion show, featuring Haenuli and Atelier Pierrot as the main brands, but also Wirehead, R. R. Memorandum, Distant Melody, Starlusthats, I do declare, Summertales Boutique, Naddine Atelier and more!

This year, we shall pit against each other 64 fictional magic users (double what we had last year!) in an attempt to see who the ultimate witch, wizard, mage, or caster is! Our winner last year was the lovely Eda Clawthorne from The Owl House (who will, from this moment on, be my profile picture until the new crown is distributed!), and today and for the next week and a half we will see who will take her crown!
