Movie Review - One to One: John & Yoko
Here at Green's Party, I've been luck enough to cover John Lennon quite a bit! In addition to covering his work with The Beatles a ton, I’ve gotten to cover a number of documentaries about him (24 Hours: The World of John and Yoko, The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial, and Revival69) and last year I got to review the Mind Games Ultimate Collection box set. There's been a number of different documentaries about Lennon and each is looking at a different aspect of his history, i.e. last year's Daytime Revolution about John and Yoko's 1972 takeover of The Mike Douglas Show, The Lost Weekend about his relationship with May Pang, or Revival69 about The Plastic Ono Band's participation in the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival music festival in 1969. The most comprehensive doc about Lennon is 1988's Imagine: John Lennon. But as I've said many times with Beatle documentaries, if you're going to make a Beatles doc, you need to showcase something that hasn't been documented already, otherwise you're just re-iterating what previous doc has already covered. Which brings us to One to One: John and Yoko about John and Yoko's 1972 One to One charity concert for special needs children. The doc is co-directed by Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald and Sam Rice-Edwards (co-director of Meet Me in the Bathroom). After a successful festival run, Magnolia is releasing it this weekend in IMAX (including AMC Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers, MA).
movie poster
In 1972, John and Yoko were living in NYC's Greenwich Village and consuming a great deal of television, both serious news and escapist entertainment. The documentary intersperses the footage of the One to One concert along with never-before-seen archival footage and TV footage at the time. Sean Lennon is one of the producers and he also remixed the audio.
John and Yoko circa 1972
In 1972, there actually was a TV broadcast of the One to One concert on ABC-TV, but this doc goes a lot deeper. There's a lot of media collages of TV that was on at the time in between the concert and doc footage. I get that they are trying to present the TV footage that John and Yoko were watching at the time and put that into the historical context of what was happening in the world at the time, but I thought it became a device the doc relied on too much at a certain point. The home movies and the audio recordings are eye-opening. We always knew that Yoko got a bad wrap and was blamed for The Beatles breakup, but my goodness was she treated horribly. I think it's time for Beatle fans to forgive her after seeing some other recent Beatle docs - but I digress. Now, the real reason to see this is the concert footage! I could not believe how fantastic it looked 53 years later. I had the same feeling when I saw Questlove's Summer of Soul doc, where you felt like you were discovering old concert footage that still looked and sounded spectacular all these years later. I watched the screener on a laptop, but I'm guessing that it will look amazing on IMAX!
For info on One to One
4 out of 5 stars

I expect some people's initial gut reaction will be to say no- I was conflicted too. However, upon reflection, I have to admit that I do see the appeal of vampirism...
I don't think I'd want to live FOREVER, but like... Maybe a few centuries? Just to see what it's like?
And the perks of super strength, no physical pain, impossible beauty, and the ability to feel a deep spiritual connection through blood sharing with another vampire...? Not too shabby....
(I'm aware I'm glossing over a lot of the trauma, but it's just something I've been thinking about like A LOT so I wanna know what other people think!!)
((I'm also aware that there's a huge amount of variation in what it means to be a vampire that is dependent on the source material. So please do reblog and share your thoughts, it doesn't just have to just be abt iwtv vampires))

Eventually, gentle Louis resolves to leave his violent maker, but Lestat guilts him into staying by turning a young girl -- whose addition to the "family" breeds even more conflict." Favorite Takes - Marvel/Spider-Man
Where I cite my personal favorite non-source material (so film, TV, and video games only) adaptations of some comic book characters.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Marvel VS Capcom (Josh Keaton)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Christopher Daniel Barnes)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Josh Keaton)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Robbie Daymond)
Sony/MCU (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland)
NOTE: And the Spider-Men voiced by Paul Soles, Dan Gilvezan, Ted Schwartz, Rino Romano, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Edgerly, James Arnold Taylor, Mike Vaughn, Mike Kelley, Sam Reigel, Sean Chiplock, Griffin Burns, Jake Johnson, and Hudson Thames are all contenders.
Mary Jane Watson
Insomniac Games (Laura Bailey)
Sam Raimi Trilogy (Kirsten Dunst)
MCU (Zendaya Coleman)
MTV Spider-Man New Animated Series (Lisa Loeb)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Vanessa Marshall)
Marvel Rising (Tara Strong) and Marvel's Spider-Man (Felicia Day)
NOTE: Other fine MJs are Andrea Taylor in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game, Dana Seltzer in Web of Shadows, Laura Vandervoort in Edge Of Time, Quinn Ljoka in Marvel Avengers Academy, and Zoe Kravitz in Into The Spiderverse. Kari Wahlgren also did a decent Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-Man 3 video game, and Erika Harlacher Stone was spot on casting for her in Spider-Geddon, albeit wasted.
Gwen Stacy
Marvel's Spider-Man (Laura Bailey)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Lacey Chabert)
Spiderverse Trilogy (Hailee Steinfeld)
Marvel Rising (Dove Cameron)
Mark Webb Duology (Emma Stone)
Sam Raimi Trilogy (Bryce Dallas Howard)
NOTE: Yeah, Laura Bailey is Best MJ AND Best Gwen! And the only other Gwens I think come close to contending with these ones would be the ones voiced by Mary Kay Bergman and Ashley Johnson.
Harry Osborn
Sam Raimi Trilogy (James Franco)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (James Arnold Taylor)
MTV Spider-Man New Animated Series (Ian Ziering)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Max Mittelman)

Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Ed Asner)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Bob Joles)

Insomniac Games (Nadji Jeter)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Nadji Jeter)
Ultimate Spider-Man (Donald Glover, Ogie Banks)

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Alan Rachins, Steve Blum)
Sam Raimi Trilogy + MCU (Willem Dafoe)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Josh Keaton)
Spider-Man 90s Animated Series (Neil Ross)
Insomniac Games (Mark Rolston) and The Black Order (Steve Blum)
LEGO Marvel (Nolan North, Josh Keaton)
NOTE: Steven Weber in Ultimate Spider-Man was a decent Norman but an awful Goblin, while Len Carlson, Dennis Marks, and Sam Vincent all did good Green Goblins but weren't really Normans.
Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus
Sam Raimi Trilogy + MCU (Alfred Molina)
Insomniac Games and The Black Order (William Salyers)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Peter Macnicol)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Scott Menville)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.)
Universal Studios Ride (Rodger Bumpass)
NOTE: Olivia Octavius isn't included here since this is just for Otto. Vernon Chapman, Cam Clarke, Joe Alaskey, Charlie Adler, Tom Kenny, Kyle Hebert, and Dee Bradley Baker were also good Ottos.

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Ben Diskin)
Spider-Man PS1 (Daran Norris) and Sony/MCU (Tom Hardy)

Sony/MCU (Tom Hardy)
Sam Raimi Trilogy (Topher Grace)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Hank Azaria)

The Vulture
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Robert Englund)
Sam Raimi Trilogy Video Games (Dwight Schultz)
MCU (Michael Keaton)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Alastair Duncan)
Insomniac Games (Dwight Schultz)
NOTE: Gillie Fenwick, Paul Soles, Don Messick, Christopher Tabori, Brian George and Steve Blum also deserve acknowledgement here.
Mysterio
Spider-Man Cartoon and Spider-Man 80's Animated Series (Chris Wiggins, Michael Rye and Peter Cullen).
MCU (Jake Gyllenthal)
Shattered Dimensions (David Kaye)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Xander Berkley)
Spider-Man 90's Animated (Gregg Berger)
NOTE: Also mesmerizing as Mysterio were Daran Norris, Dee Bradley Baker, James Arnold Taylor, Robin Atkins Downes, Greg Baldwin, and Crispin Freeman.
Hobgoblin
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Mark Hamill)
Marvel Superhero Adventures (Andrew Francis)
Universal Studios Ride (Patrick Fraley)
The Spectacular Spider-Man (Courtney B. Vance)
Shattered Dimensions (Steve Blum)
NOTE: Marvel's Spider-Man barely counts for this, as it was just Harry and Norman respectively wearing a phony superhero identity.

Insomniac Games (Jason Spisak)
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Martin Landau, Richard Moll)
Marvel's Spider-Man (Jason Spisak)

Michael Morbius
Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Nick Jameson)
Sony/MCU (Jared Leto)
Ultimate Spider-Man (Ben Diskin)
Sam Raimi Trilogy Games (Sean Donnellan)
Marvel Superhero Squad (Tom Kenny)

Spider-Man 90's Animated Series (Roscoe Lee Brown)
The Punisher Video Game (David Sobolov)
Raimi Trilogy Video Game (Bob Joles)
Insomniac Games (Travis Willingham) and The Black Order (Tim Blaney)
NOTE: Tom Harvey, Stan Jones, Stephen Stanton, Gregg Berger, Jim Cummings and JB Blanc also gave commendable takes on Fisk that worked for the iterations they were playing. Sorry to say, Spiderverse fans, but Liev Schreiber's Kingpin does nothing for me.
Doctor Doom
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Clive Revill)
90's Animated Marvel (Neil Ross, Simon Templeman, Tom Kane, Ross Marquand)
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (Lex Lang)
Marvel VS Capcom (Paul Dobson)
Disney Marvel Animation and The Black Order (Maurice LeMarche)
The Fantastic Four '94 film (Joseph Culp)
Spider-Man 80's Animated Series (Ralph James)
NOTE: Henry Ramer, Freddy Stebbin, Charlie Adler, Fred Tatasciore, Travis Willingham, and Grahama McTavish are also good Dooms.

So this has been something that's been asked for a few times, so after a long times work, here we have it! A hypothetical voice cast for the characters of Autobot Academy. If there's a character you don't see, it's as we don't want to rush figuring out a character. We may update this list in the future, however it'll be in our own time, so we won't be taking any questions about specific missing characters.

(please let the episode title be the only dig about twilight henceforth) very goth. bela lugosi's dead, haven't thought of that song probably since the 90s.
oh. kristen, huh. with the plaid and the long brown hair and the awkward. oh god and the papercut scene inside the restaurant scene recreated in this club-ish place. this man even has pattinson's edward delivery on a lot of these lines.
twilight: new moon (2009)
dear god. this is just like. seriously a mishmash of straight up lines and beats from the twilight movies (twilight series is a comfort watch for me so i'm very familiar with them). and his name is robert. hoo boy.
this takes making fun of twilight to new heights. and boy do people LOVE to make fun of twilight. oh and it just keeps going!
DEAN Look at this. He's WATCHING her sleep. How is that not rape-y?
sigh.
DEAN (Reading from the book.) "He could hear the blood rushing inside her, almost taste it. He tried desperately to control himself..." "...Romero knew their love was impossible -- " Romero? Really?
SAM Dean. Shut up.
DEAN This is a national bestseller. How is that POSSIBLE?
fuck you all very much. we get it. you think twilight is trash. enough already.
that reaction to the guys kissing... guess it'd been a while since they got some good no homo in
guess it'd been a while since a solid noticeably-soulless incident and in case we'd forgotten, decided to go big with letting dean get turned
the sound design has always been good on this show (all the stuff aside from music, basically). and i really like what they did with this part of being in dean's head while he's turning and all the extra exterior noises kind of muffled and loud. very immersive
and i like how dean's noticed through all this that sam's heart rate isn't elevated. also makes me wonder what sam's thinking with all this, if he doesn't realize something is wrong/different at this point. is it, doesn't know it's wrong/wrong doesn't apply to him because now he's effectively got antisocial personality disorder?
how many times is he going to make poor lisa listen to the i'm about to die goodbye speech. accidentally hurting ben, great. that would give him a more lasting out, i imagine.
SAM I should come with you.
DEAN No. Dude, you REEK. You're like a walking hamburger.
shame he can't stay a vampire,
well i was thinking sam was gonna be the one with the cure and he just wanted a guinea pig (but i mean in that case he could use any rando) but kind of a big tell there trying to convince grandpa he didn't know about the cure already. using him to get intel on the big bad is certainly more crafty.
SAM Are you serious? You think I'd do something like that, risk my own brother? What's wrong with YOU?
very convincing! but again. whhhyyy did grandpa not notice this behavior in the year? he's been hunting with sam.
DEAN Yeah, first chance I get, I'll...I'll show you myself.
having a moment with edward robert
BORIS You're off...by about...six centuries? And these are the best days in the last six hundred years to be a vampire. "Dracula"? Anne Rice? PLEASE. These stupid little brats are so horny they've reinvented us as Prince Charming with a Volvo.
le sigh.
ugh okay. i guess it'd also been a while since someone did any sort of SA threat to dean.
it's dean fogg! i knew he was in the show, and i thought as a vampire (half remembered posts when i was following the magicians stuff), so hello there, friend.
the magicians (2015-2020) rick worthy as dean fogg
twilight (2008)
okay.
it's a good look on him
welp. glad/not glad dean remembered sam letting him get turned. we're nearing the end of this ride, i gather. and now i'm imagining we're gonna get back on the "i'm having trust issues with sam" ride after he gets sorted.

1- Cherik , ever since I saw X-men: First Class. They are opposites but soulmates, they fight then make Up, they ende Up together (Only good thing about Dark Phoenix ) and they are two sides of the same coin. They had unmatched chemistry . Also James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are Hot, and look good together.
2- Loustat .Since I first read about them . They are soap opera level of messy , they both are abusive and toxic as fuck, yet Anne Rice managed to make readers root for them to be together. Also they have been canon before I was born. They are everything : enemies, lovers, and everything in between. The show has given us an excellent (and very Hot) cast, which helps a lot. Sam Reid is Lestat de Lioncourt. And Jacob Anderson IS making Louis even better than he was. So i love them your honor.
3 Twilight ones (both official and non official) : Blame Ao3 and FanFiction for the weird ones XD Jalice (best one to me, fated complete each other , super pretty together), Karrett (just amazing , they were super cute), Carlesme (as many of you say they are father and mother twilight edition), Rosemmet ( she needed someone who made her forget her inner demons he needed an ángel who beared with his himboness, they are perfect for each other), Bellward ( she is his peace he is her dream, they are perfect for each other, enough said) Aro/Bella (crazy one, but Bella has a interesting dark side that could be very well exploited if she was with him. Also She is Vampire Queen material) , Ángela/Edward (he said she IS beautiful and her mind is even more beautiful, which to me sounds like this could be love material, Ángela liked him and found him beautiful too, It could work).
4 - Sookie / Eric since I read the books and Saw True Blood. They have chemistry. Good one ❤️ Dark one that works . Both are Hot and look super good together. Height difference (I LOVE It).
5 Hannigram Most toxic one here, but like, I LOVE them? They are soul mates, they are both so fucked up that putting them with anyone should be considered crime against society. They get each other, they need each other, they are complete when they are together. They both have tried to kill each other enough times that It has become a meme at this point. They both are super Hot, they deserve each other and look good together.
6 Klaroline (dark and good, Hot, undeniable chemistry, look good together ) Delena (Hot , look good together , they complete each other, they deserve each other) Kolmonnie (he liked powerfull pretty witches, she likes her men dark and powerfull. They did with him and Davina what they should've done with him and Bonnie on Vampire Diaries, tbh. They would've been a powercouple)
7-Djats pairings : Canon ones - Daisily (in book Its wished by Camila aka she made them be together off the record/book , like...She always got what she wanted, in show It was also her wish so we got the wholesome iconic end) : They have unmatched chemistry (many people are obsessed with It) , they are soul mates, they deserve each other, they need each other, they made unmatched art together...Also they totally they need to go to therapy individually and together tbh, they both have daddy/mommy issues respectively, they look good together, their height difference in show Its perfect, he is Brown haired greenish eyed + she is redheaded and blue eyed , they match well (which I LOVE)....also they are both so fucked up that putting them with anyone else should be considered crime against society (Imagine how fucking much I love Camila , that even being a Billy lover too, I will always think that she deserved better than what Billy put her through). Karengraham my the ones that got away, if circumstances were different they would be perfect. Show made them even better (cause the made Graham nicer and Karen softer) they broke my Heart. In all my aus they are together. Their height difference Its perfect, they look good together.
Camily, I LOVE them, they are lovebirds, she is his peace he IS her passion (cause passion means both love and torture), they had a calm chemistry so beautiful to see, they are sweethearts, they look good together, one is caucasic the other latino which I liked a lot, they are super cool...And thats why I was torned reading and watching the show too. I love Camila, she IS a force. She is brutally soft and nice. I found her interesting.
The fact that she still loves Daisy ("i'm her biggest fan, I love the beautiful Life she made for herself", even in show she blessed Daisily in her final wish video? I would never i'm too spitefull XD) even with everything that was going on is...No one deserved her.
The final fight of Camila and Daisy is more realistic but less interesting in show... I liked better that in book. They switched the "You can be what you wanna " of the end to put It in the garden party, glad they didn't erase It, but It should been placed where it was suppossed to be.
Simornie, I LOVE them, they look very good together, they are well written, Bernie IS hard Simone soft, they were super cute and had nice chemistry too.
Warrenlisa, they were funny and wholesome, I loved them.
Only if well written : Camaisy (there are good fics around written on the Spirit what if both dump Billy and Runaway together, if Daisy was less selfish and Camila more selfish, and both bi It could work), Edaisy (because of you @porkchop200324 because he crushed on Daisy in the book, I kinda have a messy Au were Billy punches Eddie out of jealousy after he sleeps with Daisy , also Eddie and Daisy look good together ) and finally the throuple my cousin is obsessed with and IS trying to convert me to, can be super interesting: Daisilyla (Daisy/Billy/Camila).
It requires : 1- Daisy and Camila acknowledging their Bisexuality, 2- for them to realize that, if they are both in love with Billy , and both like each other so much , like literal Daisy: "She is perfect"/"Camila Saw a Life for me that I couldn't see, she believed in me" and literal Camila:"i'm her biggest fan, I love the beautiful Life she made for herself, i'm rooting for her" , and 3- for Camila to see that she loves Daisy for the same reasons she loves Billy : tortured artist Who loves her and with a dark side that deserves better and she could devote to to give It to him/her. 4- For Billy to accept It...Not very difficult like living a permanet threesome with the two women he loves?! He would sign the fuck of that deal, lets be honest here XD, he would be the happiest with that throuple thing (even more than my teen cousin XD).
8 The official hunger games ones:
Odesta +my poor perfect soulmate tortured sweethearts baby Angels, they deserved better than canon, and thats what fics are for ) Everlark (so cute, they fit each other, I like them) , Hayffie (movies made It super cool, opposites attract trope).
And the unnoficial ones : Gale/Johanna (they could work, she like pretty and complicated people , he likes tough women ), Johanna/Finnick (if Annie didn't exist I think they could work , she is crazy and Hot he IS pretty , complicated and charming), Finnick/ Katniss (tough cookie vs hardened charming, could be interesting to explore) and the throuple Finnick/Annie/Johanna...feels slightly canon : I mean after the mockingjay fiasco Johanna moved with Annie to take care of her and help her raise odestas tiny baby, I feel that , had Finnick survived, both Finnick and Annie woulve convinced Johanna to move with them for a while until she recovered...And It would've become a forever thing.
9 . Wolfstar (opposites attract, super Hot, also tortured babies) Harry/Luna (weirdly works for me , especially in movies, they would be cute and both get each other as Strange orphans) Snily (opposites attract, dark one light one best Friends before) , Jily (Bad boy/ good girl , enemies to lovers if you squint, chemistry galore) Lily/Severus/James (if the 3 of them were less pigheaded and the boys nicer, also half of James and Severus issues would been fixed with a good apology on both sides, a punching match to even each other...and a kiss / good snog too) Fremione (mischief clever boy VS Mrs reasonable smart good girl, I love that trope), Bill/Fleur (they were perfectly cute).
10 - AHS : Zoe/Kyle, Zoe/Kyle/Madison, Countess/Donovan, Liz Taylor/ Tristán Duffy, Misty / Cordelia. I LOVE mess , as you can see.
Honorable mentions : Madney, Malec, Elizabeth/Darcy.
Too long I know XD I was summoned with this Game XD.
I tag Whoever wants to play, @mutuals feel all as nicely tagged here if you wanna play!!! :) 😊.
New tag game:
List your top 10 fictional couples, why you ship them, and when you started. Feel free to add any extra stuff.
