Love how Lucia is surrounded by the MAXIMUM number of eligible bachelors and drags back the equivalent of a lives-in-the-woods hobo who's probably a hit man and presents him to all of the eligible bachelors and it's just the "he don't bite YEAH HE DO" bit.

This YA fantasy graphic novel follows fourteen-year-old Aiza, who trains to become a knight for a war-torn empire while hiding her true background as a girl from conquered lands. Born a second-class citizen, Aiza has always dreamt of becoming a Knight. It’s the highest military honor in the once-great Bayt-Sajji Empire, and as a member of the Ornu people, her only path to full citizenship. Now, ravaged by famine, Bayt-Sajji finds itself on the brink of war once again. This means Aiza can finally enlist to the competitive Squire training program. The camp is nothing like she envisioned. Hiding her Ornu status in order to blend in, Aiza must navigate friendships, rivalries, and rigorous training under the merciless General Hende. As the pressure mounts, Aiza realizes that the “greater good” Bayt-Sajji’s military promises might not include her, and that the recruits might be in more danger than she ever imagined.

HOW TO ENHANCE YOUR SMILE FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY WITH COSMETIC DENTISTRY
Author: Dr. Sajjy Upinder
Your smile is one of the most important features of your appearance, especially on your wedding day. You want to look radiant, confident, and happy as you celebrate your love with your partner and guests. But what if you’re not satisfied with your smile? What if you have stained, crooked, or missing teeth that make you feel self-conscious? Don’t worry, there’s a solution. Cosmetic dentistry can help you improve your smile in various ways, from whitening to implants.
8 GREAT WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR SMILE WITH COSMETIC DENTISTRY
1. TEETH WHITENING
One of the simplest and most effective ways to brighten your smile is teeth whitening. Teeth whitening can help you lighten the existing colour of your teeth by several shades, making them look more attractive and healthy. The best option for teeth whitening is in-office whitening, where your dentist will apply a professional-grade bleaching agent to your teeth and activate it with a special light or laser. This can give you instant and lasting results in just one session. Before starting any whitening treatment, you should speak with your dentist. Your dentist will tell you what, if any, whitening procedures will work best for you, depending on the cause and extent of your discoloration.
2. TOOTH JEWELLERY
If you want to add some sparkle and glamour to your smile, tooth jewellery might be the option for you. Tooth jewellery is basically a gem, a rhinestone, or a crystal that’s attached to a tooth of your choice using an adhesive without damaging the enamel. Tooth jewellery can come in different shapes, colours, and sizes, allowing you to customize your look according to your preference and personality. Tooth jewellery is also removable and reversible, so you can change it anytime you want.
3. CROWNS
Sometimes, teeth whitening or tooth jewellery are not enough to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. In such cases, crowns can be a good solution. A crown is a cap that covers the entire visible part of a tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns can be made of porcelain, ceramic, metal, or composite resin, and they are matched to the colour of your natural teeth. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken.
4. VENEERS
Another way to improve the appearance of your teeth is veneers. Veneers are thin shells crafted of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of teeth. They are custom-made based on a model of your mouth and bonded to your teeth with special cement. Veneers can correct various cosmetic issues such as chips, cracks, gaps, stains, or misalignments. They are also meant to look like your natural teeth, enhancing your smile without changing its shape or function.
5. BRACES
If you have crooked or crowded teeth that affect your bite and smile, braces can help you straighten them and improve your oral health. Braces are devices that apply gentle pressure to your teeth over time, gradually moving them into their proper positions. While orthodontic work that begins while a child is growing helps produce optimal results, that doesn’t mean that adults can’t have braces. Thanks to advances in orthodontic treatments, metal brackets are not your only option. Removable aligners (also known as invisible braces), clear plastic brackets (also known as ceramic braces), or lingual braces (which are attached behind the teeth) can all be used to straighten crooked or crowded teeth without compromising your appearance.
6. IMPLANTS
If you have missing teeth that leave gaps in your smile and affect your chewing and speaking abilities, implants can be a great way to replace them and restore your smile. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed in the upper or lower jawbone. They function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth such as crowns or bridges that blend in with your other teeth. Implants are made of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the human body and do not cause any adverse reactions or infections. Implants are also a long-term option for restoring your smile as they can last for many years with proper care.
7. BRUSHING AND FLOSSING
It may seem obvious, but brushing and flossing are the most important tools for keeping a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile. Brushing twice and flossing at least once a day can help you remove plaque and bacteria from your teeth and gums, preventing cavities, gum disease, bad breath, and other oral problems. Brushing and flossing can also help you maintain the results of your cosmetic dentistry procedures and keep your smile looking fresh and clean.
8. Regular Dental Visits
Regular Dental Visits Something as simple as going to your dentist twice a year is one of the easiest things you can do to improve your smile. Aside from checking for cavities and oral diseases, and doing routine cleaning, your dentist can also provide other options for making your smile even brighter. Your dentist can monitor the condition of your teeth and gums, recommend the best cosmetic dentistry treatments for you, and ensure that your smile is always in good shape.
BRIDES, GROOMS, BRIDESMAID & GROOMSMAID to be.
When you are busy choosing your dresses and makeup artists, take time out to visit your dentist to help you improve your smile to make you look and feel your best as everyone around will be focusing on you and the photographers will be busy capturing the moment.

ooooo tell me about squire by sara alfageeh
OK so first thing u gotta know is its a graphic novel and the art is super duper cool i absolutely love the character designs. its a fantasy novel and its setting is based off like. the middle east but you also have elements from the ottoman empire and like. not a standard european fantasy setting so its very fun. similar concepts translated into different cultures
here’s some art from the end (like comcept art/character design pages)
anyway i really enjoyed the art and i think it made the plot even better.
and speaking of the plot — plotwise, it’s not new or anything, and it’s actually maybe — not simplistic, but at least not as deep as it could have been? but i think that the characters were really well done, the relationships were interesting and fun (especially the friendships) and you have a very different setting to what you see in standard fantasy peasant-to-knight sort of novels. so those things make up for any lacking plot anyway.
i had to reread to remember what actually happens in the plot, which is basically that the main character aiza signs up to train to become squire, which is like a knight. problem: she is ornu. they’re part of the bayt-sajji empire but comsidered second class because racism and recently conquered etc etc. now in the army she deals with training, making friends, and figuring out what she really wants to fight for, while also trying to keep her being ornu hush-hush
because its a graphic novel it is a bit faster to read which is why i think it doesnt go into as much detail as a uhh words book on certain plot points, especially if you sort of skim read like me, but homestly its so fun,, so worth it,, i also liked the thought that went into the main side characters, they’re not , like. flat (husni is GREAT).
it’s also a Thick and Big Book so it feels nice :>
#took me so longnto answer this because every time i remembered i was already incoveniently in bed so i couldnt take pictures#or i was busy#tsk#yellow’s mailbox#book recs#*shoves u into locker* sup nerd#yeah i really liked reading squire AND i got it second hand so cheaper than retail price heehee#its not my favourite but it is really ncie

Squire
The graphic novel Squire, written by Nadia Shammas and illustrated by Sara Alfageeh, was excellent. Aiza, an Ornu girl, enlists in the military of Bayt-Sajji in order to obtain full citizenship in the future. However, she quickly starts doubting that war is the solution to anything.
While this fascinating story takes place in an invented world, you can feel the influence of its authors' dual culture. Nadia Shammas is Palestinian American and Sara Alfageeh is Jordanian American.
The art is lovely and colourful.

Squire - Graphic Novel By Sarah Alfageeh, Nadia Shammas Published 2022 by Quill Tree Books
This stunning graphic novel by Sara Alfageeh and Nadia Shammas follows a young girl named Aiza who finally gets the opportunity to follow her dreams and join the military to become a Squire- and then Knight.
Along the way, we as the reader learn that there is heavy tension between races within the Bayt-Sajji Empire; especially towards the Ornu people which Aiza is a part of. In joining the military, she covers up her Ornu distinctive tattoos and faces challenges of new friendships, rivalries, and training- and racial tensions- under the intense General Hende.
As Aiza works harder and harder to prove herself to the empire and General Hende, she soon learns to question and defy the "greater good" that Bayt-Sajji's military promises- realizing just how exclusionary and damning it is upon the Ornu people like her. She takes action to protect her friends and right her wrongs in attempting to change her course and that of the empire. She risks losing her friends and self along the way.
Will her friends join her in her revolt? Will other members of the military join? Will she make a difference in the way people see her once her identity is revealed?
Take a look at this wonderful, young adult, historical fiction, graphic novel and follow along with themes of fantasy and adventure that hold discussions and conflicts very real in our own world.
Quote: “There is no justice in joining them, but there is no justice in simply waiting on the side either.”
Finding, reading, and enjoying a work from a writer of Palestinian -and another of Jordanian- descent just felt right this week and this time given what is happening in our world now. There is so much we can do every day to show our support and make our voices heard and simple ways include boycotting businesses that support heinous behavior and reading from the voices that need to be heard.
I understand that as a librarian and working in a library, we are supposed to pose and present as unbiased in our presentation of information to the public so personally I have been gravitating towards non-fiction information and the accessible world of YA fiction. This was an excellent way, I think, to hold conversations about racism, prejudice, and war while also having a greatly presented story in graphic novel form. These are difficult but necessary topics to be held in conversation, especially today. The more forms these can take, the better; educating audiences of all ages and interests. People should get involved in learning and putting their voices out there. Like I said, a great way to do that is simple, honest boycotting and, of course, reading.
Beyond that, this is a well written and visually stunning piece. A lot of effort went into the presentation of these characters and this story and you can tell page to page as well as how Alfageeh and Shammas talk about their work- where it has come from and how it has grown into the book we get to hold.
This book was found in my local library in the YA section; it is also available digitally. I was able to read it in a couple days between shifts and classes and it was lovely just to get sucked in and follow along.
As a YA Librarian, I would use this text as a discussion piece about war and its impact on those targeted racially/ by the overwhelming power. It could sit in a display discussing war as a whole or highlighting veterans/ military personnel perhaps.

Some Nas fun facts!! W/ some doodles
• Born with monochromatic vision, but has audio/visual synesthesia that stems from her perception of the Force as color patterns. Once she became connected to the Force at a somewhat young age, her vision became normal and, to her, colors either fade or become non-existent if something is wrong in the Force.
• Most of her life was spent with trichromacy (normal color vision), but has had a few times where she was achromatic for months at a time.
• Failed the Jedi Trials the first time she took them at 19 - about 1 or 2 years before the Clone Wars began. She was permitted to keep training under her master until she was ready to take the Trials again, which was right before the war began. She passed that time yippee
• Her original tattoos are made up of two layers of five descending diamonds - the first layer was earned after the Gathering and the second, just below, was after a rescue mission with her master.
• During the war, she suffered a huge loss against a darksider who wanted revenge. Her padawan was kidnapped and disappeared for a few months. In order to heal mentally, she reluctantly took some time away from her men to rehabilitate on Nörthul (original planet) with a village of Force Healers. Bitch move if you ask me. Cue the rehab arc.
• Nas leaves Nörthul prematurely to go back to the front lines and uh yeah she never really fully healed mentally.
• After Order 66, in an attempt to disguise herself, she enlists the help of an old friend, Bax, who did her original tats. She wanted them removed, but Bax refused and instead drew over the originals, and added chin tattoos and a forehead one.
Forehead - A design her master came up with pre mortem, symbolizing Nasia’s rehabilitation on Nörthul.
Chin - Symbolizing the second time Nas took her Trials and passed.
Cheeks - Symbolizing courage in the face of change.
• After the Purge, she takes on the name Sajja Luten as an homage to her padawan and master, Sajji and Biwu Luten, respectively. the creativity is astounding
