Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Dino Megazord

Story/Background stuff under the cut, design notes + commentary in the tags!

When needed, the Power Rangers can summon colossal machines known as Zords from their Power Coins. The form a Zord takes is dependent on their personal thought of what could be most powerful at the time of bonding to their coin. For Zordon's originally chosen Power Rangers 10,000 years ago, it was mythical creatures significant to each of their alien cultures, similar in appearance to a Dragon, a Unicorn, a Griffin, a Stone Lion and a Phoenix.

In this team's case, upon finding the coins, Billy posits that the coins could potentially date back to the Ice Age, or even the time of Dinosaurs. Zack and Trini latch on to the Ice Age comment and eventually manifest the Sabertooth and Mastodon Zords, while Jason, Billy and Kimberly think of a Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and Pterodactyl, respectively.

While the five Zords don't appear as physical contructs until some time into the team's struggle against the Dark Green Ranger, once they do, the Rangers are able to combine them into the great Dino Megazord.

Armed with the powerful Mastodon Cannon and the Triceratops Saber, the Dino Megazord is easily a match for Rita's Dragonzord, eventually gaining the ability to combine with it when Tommy reclaims the Green Power Coin and summons her own purified version.

She had two brothers and one sister. Her father, a South Vietnamese army (ARVN) officer, was tasked with protecting Saigon from communist North Vietnamese army. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, he was forced to leave his family behind and fled the country, immigrating to the United States. Trang and her family lived in a detention camp as her father petitioned the U.S. government for political asylum for his family. They fled Saigon when Trang was two years old.

The role was originated by actress Audri Dubois in the pilot episode before Trang took over the part. After securing the role, Trang moved from Fountain Valley to Los Angeles to be closer to the set of the show, which she found to be a major adjustment. Trang described her character as having "quick hands and a peaceful soul", and felt the character was inspiring for viewers who have long desired an Asian superhero: "Asians are not portrayed in the media very well, and there are not many roles for Asian people except for the stereotypes – gangsters, hookers, things like that. A lot of older Asian people come up to me and say that I'm doing a service to the Asian community."

She was a Vietnamese-American actress. She was known for her role as Trini Kwan, the original Yellow Ranger on the original cast of the television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

“Solon could have done the science stuff” is another point to my “Minh should’ve been the MMPR rep” agenda. Because she should have been I think it would have been a fun dynamic with other rangers plus having the only two Sabertooth Tiger rangers together

Honestly if not for Hasbro's weird mandate that Cosmic Fury and Once and Always be as separate as possible Minh probably WOULD have been the MMPR rep. Or at the very least been there along with Billy. Becca Alwyn and Simon love their OCs too much for me to think they would willingly leave her behind lol

There are so many dinosaur rangers that should have that instead of what they already have in the Dino department-

They actually have such a good array of dinosaurs, WHYYYY do they stick to the classics— not to mention they add NOT DINOSAUR animals like sabertooth tigers and fUcKiNg dragon— there needs to be a season that’s got CREATIVE dinosaurs here 👀

Fern should've had therizinosaurus instead. Therizinosaurs were the Giant Ground Sloths of the cretaceous. Smilodon (Sabertooth Cats) and its cousins hunted ground sloths. Perfect Fizzy tie in too! plus Therizinosaurus means "reaping lizard" or "scythe lizard", so Fern should've had a scythe. also therizinosaurus probably had feathers, so shes floofy like Izzy!

What do the Dinozords look like when separated in the RotMMPR AU? Cause I imagine that the proportions they have to each other is kind of funny, because the Triceratops and Pterodactyl Dinozords are just so smol compared to the Maston and Tyrannosaurus Dinozords. Sabertooth Tiger is in the middle.

haven’t done any proper designs yet simply bc i’m not comfortable enough w my skills to pull them off BUT

I think your size estimates are pretty spot on, Pterodactyl Zord’s definitely the smallest w Triceratops being just slightly bigger - Tyrannosaurus and Mastodon are definitely YUGE compared to them and ya, Sabertooth’s right in the centre

Design wise they’d be sort of like, not too dissimilar to the original designs, but in the style of Transformers Animated, if that makes sense?? Eventually I’m gonna refine the design a lil more, but that’s kinda the gist of it, put simply. Also, because of their nature as like, constructs formed from their connections to the Power Coins, they kind of act more as Digimon partners to the Rangers than as big built robots - so they’ve kinda got bonds with them ala later teams in PR and they’re less robotic, with the Megazord’s design coming from the Rangers being like “okay the Dark Dragonzord is a giant monster basically, obviously the way to beat it is with a giant robot”

Hence why I make the Omnimon comparison in the tags of the Megazord post, it’s a bit less of a combining mecha and a lil more like a Jogress/DNA Digivolution, if that makes sense? They kind of become more robot-y for the purposes of combining

I’m watching the first episode of Power Rangers Dino Fury, and man, Power Rangers loves having non-Earthborn human-types who’s planet was fucked over by bad guys. There’s Orion in Megaforce, Andros in PRIS, uhhh, probably more because again this is a series with over 900 episodes.

Also: the dinosaurs fought the bad guys.

Also, I see a sabertoothed tiger, a T-Rex, and a Triceratops. Hehe.
