I got commissioned to design a pterosaur back tattoo, and decided to use the opportunity to redraw my original dragons of the Mesozoic design.

I finally started watching Prehistoric Planet and these little sentient kites are doing their best

Nyctosaurus was a pterosaur from the late Cretaceous US. Weird critter best known for the fancy head crest, but it also deserves mention for being so adapted to aerial life that it decided to ditch its fingers.

Hello, I’ve been making more paleoart recently so I’m gonna be updating this blog again after so many years lol.

To begin, some pterosaurs from a while ago.

And here now the result of the Toolebuc formation #paleostream! This formation is the center of pterosaur diversity in Australia and after long back and fourth I decided to show a calm bay, with migrating protostegids being ambushed by a Kronosaurus.

Important note: this does not represent the depositional environment of this formation. The fossils were preserved in poor oxygenated waters with tons of specialized Inoceramus living on the substrate. However that doesn't really lend itself to an interesting composition.

As you can see in this size chart by B_Wither (modified by @petitepaleoartist and myself) the Toolebuc formation offers a host of predatory fish and marine reptiles. Interestingly ichthyosaurs and protostegids appear to be more common compared to older, colder formations.

Btw. the giant shark is present here as well, indirectly ;)

Aerotitan sudamericanus, an Azhdarchid from the Late Cretaceous with a wingspan of around 5 metres. It was maneuverable both in air and on land, stalking and snapping fish, frogs, lizards, birds and small mammals with it's beak. They are the only known Azhdarchid from South America so far.

Someone had a nice snack! First time trying to draw realistic blood in digital..Not very happy with it but I hope I get better. Currently I'm experimenting with art styles and trying to find what fits me more. I'll be glad to recieve any critique or advices! The colours were based on Swan geese.
