ALRIGHT WOOOOOOW. I wanna reply and show appreciation for this in a proper way so it's a reblog🥹💙💙
Tumblr media
They would DEFINITELY vibe together naturally!! Nick is indeed a very cool and unique character that draws a lot of attention hihi, and he's quite charming too! A fan favourite for sure C:
THE JACKET ONE WAS A MUSTTTTTT and I also wanna draw him shirtless at some point!! not for thirst for ONCE BAHAHAH but because I wanna show all his damage. I might also introduce a few more chars from Fo4 and dbh C: already have ideas for a Reed900 appearance 😍
SAME HERE I love DBH design but the obvious synthetic look (like the ones in I, Robot or Bicentennial Man) are just UUGGGHH super cool imo!
AND ABT THE ATMOSPHERE AAAH HE IS THE NOIR VIBE, like I wanna explore more of that because I want Connor to be the younger less experienced detective that adapts to Nick's modus operandi and they both end up having this dark, smoky badass look to them KJASDFHKJHDSF im gonna blow the hell up just talking abt this
Tumblr media
BOTH IS GOOD. They have the synnergy to share both kinds of vibes I think :DD
AAAHHHHH AND OF COURSE THANK YOU SO FRICKIN MUCH, honestly this one came out a lot more naturally than I expected ;v; it was a lot of luck. I will post a process vid later!! its not finished but conveys most of it :D Thank you thank you thank you kindly💙💙💙 ;V; ig those boring design lessons paid off, and even though I still have doubts and know that I can do even better your comments are immensely appreciated and push me in a much healthier way C:
thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to go over it all and for checking the details. Making them is so fun, but the reward of having someone point them out is 1000x better C: 💙

Nick Valentine, Synth Detective
partnering up with
Connor-51, Deviant Hunter!
I am pleased to present this little partnership idea between two tin cans I'm extremely fond of 💙 making this brought me so much joy and I hope you guys like it as well!
Some background info under the cut!~
Connor is an advanced prototype of android within the universe of Detroit: Become Human. He was designed to assist in the investigation of deviants, other androids that have "gone rogue" and stopped taking orders. He's also known as the Deviant Hunter. Though initially convinced that he is "just a machine" designed to accomplish his mission, Connor might eventually begin to warm up to his partner, and his priorities might shift unexpectedly.
Nick Valentine is a synth, or Synthetic man in Fallout 4. He is a mysterious prototype with the implanted memories of an old detective that lived over a century ago, and woke up in a heap of garbage after being dumped by his creators, the Institute. He's quick witted and snarky, and although his damaged components might make him appear intimidating at first, he is a deeply compassionate man who genuinely cares about doing the good thing, and this has earned him the trust and respect of his community.

I did not care for Breath of the Wild.
WAIT WAIT WAIT! I CAN EXPLAIN! DON'T SHOOT!
It's not that I HATE BotW. I certainly don't. I just don't love it. Though I very much DON'T like totk... that's an opinion for later. This is in no way a good critique or a review. It's just my opinion.
Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda game that I ever played, like many of you in the fandom right now. I bought it with my own money (I'm a jobless minor) after interacting with the fandom for a bit before even picking up a game. And like most people, the feeling of starting the game and waking up in that bathtub, that feeling of wonder and mystery, was awesome.
I will give credit where credit is due, BotW got me through a time when I was at my lowest. It gave me an escape to a much better world, a safe space, one I could go to when I had no hope for reality, something to hold onto if you will. The release of TotK gave me something to look forward to during a time when I didn't want to wake up the next morning.
I have every reason to love this game, but I don't.
Honestly, I'm TIRED of BotW and all the sequels and spin-offs.
Botw came out since people were so tired of the linear Zelda formula. ... that formula lasted for longer than I've been alive, yet it's only been about 8 years, and there's been such an uproar of people complaining about the new shiny open world formula.
Why? Well, because most of the gaming industry is open world now and having a linear formula is what made Nintendo feel unique... oh, and also because Nintendo completely failed at making totk's map feel new and interesting. They just slapped a bunch of random crap on the map here, and there with almost zero thought. When I first played totk, I felt like I was playing some kinda modded version of botw. It felt a little illegal. And playing it feels like a chore. That's never happened with any other Zelda sequel.
Even though Majora's Mask's assets were all reused from Ocarina of Time, the game still felt new and inventive. The game had meaning. The game had a THEME. AND THAT GAME WAS MADE IN TWO YEARS. TOTK TOOK SIX!!!
Cough cough. Pardon me.
Another reason I'm just sick of botw.
It's everywhere. It's Nintendo's golden goose. Just about everyone who plays games has played BotW. It's so big that it overshadows the rest of the franchise. It's basically Ocarina of Time all over again. Just... worse.
A sequel, a prequel, and another on the way. Ocarina of Time was never THAT BAD. It was given one sequel. That's it! Nintendo is just turning into Disney. And let me tell you something.
I loathe disney.
Too afraid to make anything new, so they rely on things that they know will make them money. Too afraid to say anything and spark controversy, so all of their content is void of anything actually meaningful. There's no particular audience. They appeal to no one by appealing to everyone while overly reliant on a fan base they know will bow before them and just buy whatever they churn out.
And, again, it's just like the word Zelda has just become synonymous with Breath of the Wild. Any Zelda content on most platforms like Tik Tok, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest..
Tumblr media
I AM SICK OF HIS FACE. WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES HE'S ALL I SEE. WHEN I OPEN THEM, HE'S ALL I SEE. HE IS EVERYWHERE AND I CAN'T ESCAPE HIS STUPID. FACE.
EVERY DAMN SKYWARD SWORD EDIT IS SOMEHOW MADE ABOUT BREATH OF THE WILD ZELINK I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!!!
and this isn't a you problem, by the way. If Breath of the Wild's your favorite game, own that, bro. This is a Nintendo problem.
Like... echoes of wisdom... seems like everyone kinda forgot about it. Including me. It brought new things to the table. AND NOBODY CARES!!!! BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO FOCUSED ON BINKLE BONKLE'S MISADVENTURES. Though, it did keep the art style of Link’s Awakening... which I honestly do not like all that much. C'mon Nintendo, give us a new art style, you bunch of greedy cowards.
Now, to get off track for a moment.
My favorite game is Skyward Sword. Yes, this is relevant. Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword are almost complete polar opposites of each other. One leans into tradition, while the other runs from it. One is reliant on story and characters, the other on gameplay.
People absolutely HATED Skyward Sword once upon a time. Now more people are starting to like it. People LOVE Breath of the Wild, and now more people are starting to think differently.
This point I'm making here is expanded further in this very ahead of its time video that explains this far better than I ever could.
youtube
Basically. People complained. Nintendo over corrected. Now we're here.
These two games are what REALLY got me into the franchise. Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda game I ever touched... but Skyward Sword was the first game I ever finished. Like ever not even lying, I'd never finished a game in my life before Skyward Sword.
The game actually motivated me to continue. The dungeons were fun and engaging, and same with the characters. I was genuinely invested and finished the game at one in the morning, shaking and in tears. Keep in mind I'd watched a playthrough of the game before I was able to play it myself. I already knew the story.
Then I finished breath of the wild.
I did not cry.
I did not shake.
I just finished it and put the game down.
Skyward Sword gave me a reason to give a damn, Breath of the Wild did not. Sksw Link felt like a person to me. He wanted to get his Zelda back, and so did I. Breath of the Wild Link, however... he just woke up, and he has no idea who the heck Zelda even is, so he's just gonna go collect koroks and blow stuff up. No motivation... just... do whatever whenever. Which is fun, yes... but it's not all that impactful.
Skyward Sword gives me a cozy, warm feeling, while Breath of the Wild gives the opposite. Empty. Cold.
Like... I just don't care about Breath of the Wild. I really just don't. And I am just so tired of it being the only thing on the menu nowadays. The characters felt like cardboard cutouts to me. You have to actively seek out any character or personality in them (the main ones). That was not a problem in Skyward Sword. Just sit down on a dang bench, and you'll find more character in Link there than in most botw memories.
I know botw Link's whole silence thing has a reason behind it, but it just feels like an excuse. They could've expanded on it a bit more. In concept designs, he's shown to have a family. But they scrapped it. They really could've done so much more with that.
This rant was incredibly messy, I know, but I just needed to get this out somewhere. This has been boiling within me for far too long, and I had to put it into a teacup and make tea, or else I'd go insane. I'm not trying to be a contrarian or anything. This is just how I feel. And I'm not trying to say any fans of botw or people who don't have access to the other games are fake fans. I understand that games are expensive and hard to access.
This is purely my opinion, and you're allowed to think differently. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk, and have a nice day.

this stupid ass show's timeline is so fucked up omg
according to the wikia, the year is 132 AC, which is already stupid in and of it itself but whatever, moving on.
I think it was last episode that they say that Daeron is 16, which is fine, okay, but then you remember that according to the timeskips and the wikia, Helaena is 17 and Aemond is 17-16. Jaehaerys & Jaehaera are 4 years old, so Helaena had them at 13, which is just.... yikes. But did Alicent have three children in two years? Why is Aemond's birth so uncertain when all the other major characters have birth years?
Alicent says that Gwayne was 8 and motherless when she and Otto came to court, and yet in episode 1 of the first season, Daemon mentions that Otto's wife died recently and we see Gwayne was old enough to participate in the tourney.... are there two Gwaynes or did the writers forget that they had already introduced his character? Also, him saying that he is the oldest son and should be raised at Oldtown is so stupid, because Otto is the second son and none of his children will inherite the Hightower, not unless his brother's kids all drop dead, which we know doesnt happen in the books (though they could do that in the show, who knows).
the writers make such stupid choices in regards to the timeline. Why did they make Joffrey, Aegon III and Viserys II so young when it is going to create so many problems for the narrative later on? How is Aegon going to flee on dragonback when Stormcloud is the size of a cat? Is someone going to rescue him and leave Viserys behind? One of the reasons Aegon III was so broken is because he was forced to abandon his brother and he never forgave himself. how can that happen in the show when he doesnt even have the ability to properly eat by himself?
and now they made Hugh Saera's son, when he looks like he is the same age as Daemon, and Saera was only 14 when Daemon was born in the books? hell, when he was born she hadnt even had that whole scandal business.... not to mention that they make it see like Hugh was born in Westeros, probably the Crownlands or even King's Landing itself. Are they trying to say that Saera worked at a brothel in the city while her father was king?

Thinking about it, Mephiles had a reasonable crash out. I'm not wrong am I? I keep seeing other people in other parts of the web say that Mephiles was a heartless villain that was created to have no redeeming qualities and nothing to sympathize about but?? There's the fact that Mephiles is LITERALLY a broken remnant of a presumably benevolent (or simply was minding its own) god, forcibly drawn apart for the greed of one man that staged it as a benefit for all of soleanna?
Also there's the potential that none of 06 could have happened if Shadow hadn't trapped Mephiles (or dare I say even Iblis, though being a potential raw form of solaris' wrath, it's hard to say). Yes, they had the foresight that Mephiles was going to mislead and cause problems in the future, but they never had the full picture until it was too late for them. Mephiles, for all we know after Solaris split, was scared and confused. If you were stripped of your identity, but also didn't comprehend who you were and what you were, and were just left to your own devices without any direction, wouldn't that be overwhelming? Like here in 06, Mephiles sounds lost when Shadow finds them... Escaping? Finding their way?:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shadow immediately jumped into sealing Mephiles into the Sceptre. Sure it was to ensure that a worse future didn't actually, in fact, happen, and it's more than likely in Shadow's nature to ensure there's no possible room for errors like that to happen. Though, it seems that the crux of the issues lie in Mephiles (and Iblis in silver's future) understanding that the world saw them only as forces of destruction and ruin that needed to be sealed away. They weren't wanted, because they aren't what the Solaris Project hoped for. Iblis caused Silver's timeline to occur when they were finally released from their prison, rage building and snapping. Mephiles holds a grudge when Shadow seals it away. When they finally, FINALLY reunite as Solaris, what way to take revenge than to deliver what happened to them; Out of sight out of mind on cataclysmic proportions.
Maybe if sympathy had been extended to Mephiles and Iblis, things could have turned out differently, and they wouldn't have become the villain we all hear about. Shadow and Silver had the potential to rewrite a LOT of things right then and there in that past timeline.

recently i've had a lot of asks/dms/tellonyms about mlm content and fetishising and i just,,,
first of all, i've done a whole video on this here so i don't want to risk repeating myself but the main point in that video is that this is the exact rhetoric that limits mainstream representation. not just representation, but education - when you reduce mlm media to fetish content, you're implying that these stories and the relationships in them are inherently sexual, the same way that politicians assume queer relationships are inherently sexual and remove them from the curriculum, limiting the amount of education people have on different family dynamics and identities that are so so soooo important to know. i also talk a bit in that video about why women may be more drawn to mlm stories, as well as how mainstream media's approach to female characters influences that too.
BUT anyway, i think,,, right now? not the time. right now - when books are being pulled off the shelves, when queer rights are in jeopardy, when there's been a massive wave of anti-lgbtq+ politics worldwide - is not the time to start critiquing fanfiction for what people write and why it's written.
there is absolutely the possibility for people to engage in this media in a way that does fetishise certain sexualities, but the approach of "women reading mlm" "men reading wlw" "sex in fanfics" being fetish content?
i fear that whilst trying to be progressive, we loop all the way back round and end up in the same mindset of those pulling books from shelves. queer stories aren't inherently sexual. sex in queer stories is not inherently fetish content. and dare i say, nothing in fanfiction is inherently anything - it's all about individual engagement.
and i could say a lot more, but really i'm just quite upset that we're not only having this discussion again, but we're having it at a time when fanfiction and individual voices are so important.

i love the idea of deuce dying his hair to blond highlights or smth like that bc think about it
The last time deuce had blonde hair from what the game recalls was back when he was a delinquent, a part of his past that he continues to regret, hate and hide for the sake of moving on. He gets frustrated when he falls back into his old habits and embarrassed when he becomes angered, hating the way his own mannerisms remind him of the things he did and people he hurt. To him, the bleach on his hair was as much of a stain as his own wrongdoings. To him, there was no one without the other because every person he punched, every kid he bullied, every victim of one rude remark after another, all of them learned to avoid the head of blonde they saw in crowds knowing that out of everyone in their town, it could’ve been Deuce.
I like the idea that hair holds memories bc to me, it means deuce could have a happy ending. If he ever decided to willingly dye some of his hair blonde, I take that as him making peace with himself. To me, it is him acknowledging that yes, what he did was wrong and his actions can’t be undone, but he doesn’t deserve to berate himself for something he is trying to correct. The first step is to acknowledge that what happened was wrong and take proper responsibility for it, and he did. He took that step a long time ago and he is still actively trying to keep going and better himself and do more.
Some people don’t make it past that first step. Deuce didn’t have to. He didn’t need to become an honors student, he did it for the people he loved, for his mother.
I feel like he got rid of his blonde hair because it was the last shred of who he was as a delinquent. A minuscule detail tied so greatly to a point in his life that he despised. So the idea of him willingly bringing it back—even just a little—fills me with absolute joy bc to me, it solidifies the idea that he is the same exact person who he was all that time ago. And that’s okay. Because that person changed and grew and found somewhere to flourish even if he continues to struggle day in and day out.
Tldr I would die for this man thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Really wish tloz had hammered in more mythology. Like... have the heroes be representative of a certain thing, and give them all altars or worshippers or just some damn hieroglyphics or statues FOR THE LOVE!!!
For instance, have Sky be a symbol of love like Cupid, maybe. Warriors... war... dur. Maybe magic for the hero of Legend? Though, that one has multiple contenders (hyrule, four).
Wind could be heavily worshipped by islanders and people who live by the ocean in general, and possibly the rito due to his association with wind. So... he's worshipped by islanders, Rito, and Zora.
Time... perhaps youth? His games have childhood and growing up as MAJOR themes, so I'm thinking youth is fitting for him. Hyrule could be like... health...? grasping for straws here, help me. Wild... tough one there. Nature COULD be his thing, but I feel like that's sorta... lazy. Unfortunately, i can't think of anything better for him 💔. Twilight, crops, farming, and such. Four... I know absolutely nothing about his games. Despite reading both mangas, I have no idea, dawg.

Project SEKAI Movie spoilers
(i'm gonna ramble about Ichika and an important plot point)
To me. Ichika's reaction to Miku's voice disappearing entirely from the world makes so much fucking sense. A pure panicked face. That's the same reaction I would have if I lost.. My Nintendo Switch or something. Something so precious that I would panic when I lost it. Something I'd bring with me if my house was on fire. Holy shit I went insane when I saw her reaction. so insane in fact, that I stomped the floor. In the theatre.
Like Miku means a LOOOT to Ichika. This is special interest levels of love for something. Miku was there for Ichika when she felt lonely and alone in middle school, she sees traits in Miku that she desires, she always got comforted by her songs. It's literally the only thing she listens to. And then she loses Miku.
The reason she listens to Vocaloid is FOR Miku. She sees, as I said, traits in her that she desires. Freedom, in particular. She felt trapped in middle school, like her hands were tied, but Miku had no such thing. To Ichika, Miku has freedom.
Symbolically, the reason Ichika is the singer of Leo/need is because she has trouble with communication for one, and that she wants to connect people like Miku. She got hurt and changed by what happened in middle school, and being the lead singer and lyricist makes her face her problems and flaws she got from it. It makes her grow, and so she's able to communicate her feelings.
Miku is perfect at communicating her feelings and singing (forgetting the producers for a second </3) unlike Ichika. She's the ideal she strives for.
And not only that, Miku was a comfort for Ichika. Ever present when she was down. It's the only thing that stayed when everything in middle school changed and she couldn't do anything. There is a truth to Miku everyone knows: Miku can't die. She is forever. You will always be able to listen to her songs
And then.. Miku is GONE. The idol Ichika holds dear is GONE! It's like she's losing any chance at becoming her ideal and connecting people. Something she wants to do because she got hurt by not doing it! Miku, who comforted her in her worst times and who she is super passionate about, gone!
When Leo/need Miku finally came back from (basically) the dead Ichika hugged Miku which god is so justified the poor girl lost her Sekai's Miku and Miku the Voice. That was literally double death. She deserves a good warm blanket and chocolate milk after that
