What I'm Made Of (Sonic Heroes OST) 🤝 With Me (Sonic and the Black Knight OST): Final boss songs who's lyrics apply almost just as much to Sonic as they do to the villain he's facing
#im crazy im crazy#also i know with me is used as Merlina's leitmotif but like#you know who throughout all of satbk is like accepting being the villain of the story? Just like Merlina does? Sonic#He's literally like oh killing king arthur will make me the bad guy? oh well lol can't always be the hero#they're both willing to do what they must even if they become the villain because of it#''you know every world will have its end and i'm here to prove it all to you''#''i am who you don't think i am''#like come oonnnn that's exactly what Sonic and Merlina are arguing about throughout the final battle#and those lines could apply to either of them#AND THEN DONT GET ME STARTED ON WHAT IM MADE OF#that song people are more likely to immediately think of Sonic when they hear it for the first time#but if you listen from the perspective of Metal Sonic it's like mind blowing#especially since its such a sonic style song like its got such a familiar feel to all of Sonic's other Crush 40 themes#and I'm including Open Your Heart and Live and Learn in this#Open Your Heart is just Sonic singing directly to Perfect Chaos and Live and Learn is similar to the songs im talking about above#in that Live and Learn can apply just as much to Shadow as it can to Sonic it's their duet as they save the world from Gerald's plan#(insert an ''I'm Live'' ''and I'm Learn'' the Live and Learn Brothers joke here)#but anyway the point is that you think of those songs when you hear What I'm Made Of#it SOUNDS like a Sonic song#but then really you listen to it...... and it sure does sound like things Sonic would say yeah#but ultimately? It IS a Metal Sonic theme. And it is playing on the parralels between Metal and Sonic on purpose#''i don't care what you're thinking as you turn to me cause what i have in my two hands is enough to set me free''#LIKE THAT'S THE FIRST LINE IN THE SONG... Sonic is ALREADY free. You know who isn't and is doing everything in order to be free?#''let me show you just what i'm made of'' is a Sonic line but oh my god is it also a Metal line#dont get me fucking started on the verse about 'one by one they all become black marks on the floor' and how insane the implications make m#these boss songs are all CONVERSATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#anyway. Sonic music good#sth#moodle rambles

Hello! I'm a Brazilian fan and I love your work so much! Congratulations on that! I'd like to ask you what's the best Sonamy fanfic you've ever read and what's the best you've ever done in your opinion? It's okay if it's in English and I'm sorry if I wrote something wrong, I'm still not a professional in the language ❤️
I get a lot of fanfic questions so I figured I'd lump them all together here. Also, @blsantos your English is great, please don't apologize :) Honestly, some of the best fanfics I've ever read are sent to me as recommendations anonymously. So please, always send me your recs!
On that note, I want to specifically send 1,000 kisses to the anon above who recommended "I Love You - Come With Me" by @molinaskies
"I Love You - Come With Me" by @molinaskies was one of those stories where I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I started reading it I PHYSICALLY COULD NOT STOP until I finished it. It has not only romantic love but self love. It's healing and cathartic. The author nailed the intricacies of Sonic's and Amy's characters.
"Subliminal" by @maddiebat takes place post-Sonic Frontiers and ahhh it just makes my heart explode. I can see this fic actually happening in canon! It will pull on your heart strings, I guarantee it.
"Late Night Talks" by @luescris takes place during the Metal Virus arc of the IDW comics. I haven't read the comics yet but I was aware of that arc enough for this story to make sense. I loooooove touch-starved themes and this fic really hit it outta the park!
"Birthday Surprise" by Shteph is a BLAST! It's a one-shot but it is filled with tons of great moments and humor and romance. There are scenes in this fic that legitimately gave me butterflies and had me kicking my feet and squealing 🥰
If you haven't read "What Was Stolen" by @beeextraordinary123 you are DEPRIVING YOURSELF! For the love of all that is good, go read it! If you aren't aware of it, it's an AU where Amy is a princess who meets a dashing blue thief 😉 It's full of all the delicious angst you could ever want with tons of romance and fantastic character exploration. I've physically sobbed over this story.
If you're looking for something short and sweet, check out "Late Night Texts" by @paddy-nic. It's one of those stories that gives me second-hand giddyness.
These are just some of the fics that have been on my mind recently and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! And again, please always send me recommendations. I'm always looking for good sonamy fics. I live and breathe for these cotton-candy dorks.
-
As far as my own fics, I write a lot but I don't post much of what I've written. Of the fics I have posted so far, my favorite is Bubbles and Blush. There's no drama, it's just slice of life with pre-established sonamy and LOTS of lovin'. I had a whole lotta fun with that one!
Also for those interested, I am on AO3!

Oops my hand slipped
1003 words
---
"I worry. You accompany me everywhere. Anything I ask of you, you do so without complaint." Shadow says. "I don't understand. You have the option to leave."
Metal stares. Waits for him to analyze, recognize, and then retract the erroneous statement just as Metal had determined in three-tenths of a second. Organic brains could take longer to do such things, based on prior observations.
"You have a new life. Free to do as you please." Shadow continues.
Metal crosses his arms.
"Do you understand my concern?"
His advanced language processing has suggested a few phrases that are the most statistically likely to follow, and he prefers exactly none of them.
"You can go if you don't want to be here. Live life for yourself. Not just for-"
Metal grabs Shadow's arm, pricking his claws into his black fur with a pressure calculated to pierce his upper epidermis but no further. But Shadow's facial expression does not change. He does not speak anything more.
So, he balls his other hand into a fist and punches Shadow with 2,000 Newtons of force, sending him stumbling backwards into the wall, but not hard enough to fracture the drywall. Damaging their current living space would be inconvenient.
"If that's really what you think of me, then keep going." Shadow hisses.
Metal lowers his fist. How could he have possibly come to that conclusion?
"If I somehow forced you to be here, like how the doctor forced you to-"
He does not wait for his language processing to register the rest of the sentence before he ignites his turbine and lunges for Shadow's throat. They tear a hole through the drywall and land on the gravel outside. Metal tosses him to the ground, ensuring to avoid an angle that would result in any fractured bones.
Shadow scrambles upright, spreading his feet to a stable configuration and curling his fists. A shiver passes through his body, likely a response to a release of adrenaline. He flinches as the wind blows across his fur. Then he stares into Metal's optics.
"What are you waiting for?!"
Metal waits. Watches for any gestural indication of understanding, as cataloged from prior social interactions.
"Are you going to try and kill me or not?"
The simulation runs instantaneously- battle statistics taken from previous encounters calculated into a hypothetical opponent compared against current operating characteristics to quantify the odds of victory.
Shadow has not reciprocated attacks or engaged in defensive moves.
Odds of victory 1:0, the simulation affirms.
And this sends a jolt of something strong enough to overload the LEDs in his optic screen for an entire half a second.
He steps backwards. Again. Again. It's only when he measures the acoustic amplification bouncing back from the walls of the house does he realize that his turbine is still operating. He shuts it off. He turns around and re-enters their dwelling, passes by the corner covered in thin decorative drapes and tiny lights strung up with wires and shelves that are empty but that are there to place any items you gather on your journeys, you understand? Anything you'd like. This is your place too.
Stops. Enters the space. Sits on the cushions on the floor. Finds the remote. Turns on the lights.
Waits.
Shadow enters the dwelling again through the hole in the wall, still breathing short, shallow breaths and maintaining an elevated heartrate. He approaches the drapery, extends a finger forward, and pulls the cloth aside.
He withdraws, and the cloth swings back into place. "I'm sorry. I'll leave you be."
Metal gives a negative ping from his vocalizer before he realizes he'd sent that command. He remembers that he has access to his vocalizer, now.
Shadow peeks through the drapes.
"Stay. Here. Now." Metal signs, his hands snapping.
Shadow enters, the light of the fairy lights sparkling against the whites of his eyes. Shadow has never entered here while the lights were on. Metal snaps a photo and notes to scrub the negative connotation surrounding the circumstance during defragging tonight.
Shadow seats himself on the cushion across. Metal points at him, and pats the cushion next to his frame. He shuffles across the floor but does not lean against his frame. His body remains tense, but his heart rate falls.
"Are you making up your mind?" Shadow asks.
No. A billion strands of data, maybe more, have all interwoven themselves the moment Shadow first alleged the concern. Billions of strands of data; internal, such as memory logs of hours spent together in quiet harmony; external, such as the decorations surrounding them, given with no expectation of payment or even use in return. Untangling the sheer volume of data into mere words created a delay of one minute and thirty-two seconds.
"No," Metal begins. His vocalizer gives a slight crackle.
"No?"
"Any act of service I perform for you is nothing but the highest indication of my free will to remain with you." Metal locks his irises into Shadow's own.
His face contorts into a series of microexpressions, too quick to check against Metal's database and are therefore unreadable. Eventually, he nods. "Good to know."
Metal waits for further elaboration.
"I'm. . . glad." Shadow continues. "That you want to be here."
"Do not doubt again."
"I won't."
For a moment, he wishes to repeat the command, but such an urge is illogical. Shadow has heard and acknowledged it. Repetition is unnecessary.
"I just needed to make sure-"
"Do NOT doubt me again." Metal snaps.
"Alright, I won't mention it."
There's more sentences being formed and dismantled in his processor, half-abandoned phrases, comforts, criticisms, gestures. Requests for confirmation that Shadow understands. Demands for an apology. An apology itself, even. But none follow clearly from the prior conversation or serve the purpose of continuing it.
Shadow slides closer and leans his head on Metal's shoulder.
Metal discards the attempt to formulate a response, and reciprocates the pressure with a slight tilt of his head against his quills.
i honestly kind of despise the notion that second chance metal exists/his only purpose is to benefit shadow, because it strips away all of metal's agency in his decisions and actions. he's chosen to be there. to be by shadow's side and at some capacity a healer is quite literally a turning point in his existence, and something he himself chooses to do, on his own accord, with no outside influence.
at the same time, not even shadow is immune to occasionally worrying that's exactly what's happened, that he's "forced" metal into an obligatory position of never doing or living for himself. but to worry metal's not capable of making his own decisions is to inherently question his validity as a person, isn't it?
how awful would it be, for metal to hear in shadow's dying moments, that all this time shadow's felt guilty and under the assumption metal was never doing what he himself wanted to do?
so they talk about it. repeatedly, if they have to, and this worry (and hypothetical dying-apology) is null and void. but the trend of "being obligated to remain at someone's side" is something the two of them on some level share, even in canon, so that's mostly what this was exploring.
#wrote this instead of sleeping#this post grabbed my braincells and wrung the words out of them like a wet rag#writing your Metal was a special challenge!! trying to communicate that lack of a theory of mind was Hard#I realize how much I rely on characters responding to facial expressions and body language to advance plot/dialogue#I still do that here but I always try to justify it. make it logical. etc.#I love your AU crew so much they have my entire heart#I hope I did all the details justice I tried very hard#metal sonic#shadow#second chance au#writing#fanfiction

Ya'll... I just watched the new Sonic movie (Sonic 3) and I have to say... I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Me ranting about it after the cut!!
SONIC 3 SPOILERS!!
1) Okay, so, first of all. The movie was amazing. I felt so giddy and excited when I was sitting in the movie theate, just waiting for the next thing to happen.
2) I had to hold back my tears when Tom got brutally punched by Shadow, mainly at hoe Sonic reacted at that... poor boy thought he lost another parent:( I didn't want to cry in front of of my brothers. (They would've bullied me bc they always do)
2) Maria was sososososo pretty!!! I really wished that we could've seen more of the sibling dynamic between her and Shadow, but I honestly loved the relationship they had.
4) My boy Tails should've had more screen time though...💔 Along with knuckles...💔 (I understand they already had enough going on in the movie, and I think if they did what I wanted, it probably would've made the movie uncomfortably cramped)
5) TAILS LOOKED SO CUTE WITH THE HELMET ON IN THE HELECOPTER ATVTHE BEGINNING OMG⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️ I mentally agreed with Agent Stone when he said Tails was adorable, because he is.
6) Honestly, kinda wished Stone and Tails built up a friendship between them. Would've been fun to see them interact more! (Again, same thing I said earlier in nr.4)
7) I actually thought about this before seeing the movie. If I remembered correctly, the movie is based of Sonic adventure 2 (I believe) And Amy Rose was the one who comforted Shadow and got him to turn from evil to good? (I THINK. I SAW A PLAY THROUGH LIKE 10 YEARS AGO, DON'T YELL AT ME) So, I wondered how the would go about this. Honestly, the fact that Sonic comforted Shadow was a little odd to me, but what Sonic said was sweet. Since this is the movies we're talking about, it's on brand that Sonic was comforting him, since basically every single live action Sonic movie has him comforting SOMEBODY. Honestly, I liked it.
8) And... THE WAY MR. OLD REBOTNIC (can't remember name💔) GOT KILLED!?!?!? WHAT!?!? YOU'RE TELLING ME HE FOT STABBED IN THE BUTT BY A SUPER POWERED ALIEN HEDGEHOG QUIL, GOT LUNCHED UP, AND GOT INCINERATED BY A DAMN SHEILD!?!? Woah. Imagine telling other people how you died and someone says THIS to you??? My one brother quite literally looked at me like this when that happened: "😧" (my other brother laughed his arse off)
9) And the final message Robotnic gave Stone?? Omg, you can NOT tell me they didn't have SOMETHING going on over there....
10) Finally, the end credit scene... METAL SONIC AND AMY???? ARAGARAGATSGA!!!! Sigh, Why must I wait for the 4th movie to come out... 😔 (PLEASE GIVE REVERSE SONAMY IN THE NEW MOVJE OLEASE PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE PLEA) Also, when Amy revealed herself a little boy (who had a Sonic CAPE mind you) yelled out "IT'S AMY!!!" He might be a bigger fan then me chat... (I forgot my Tails plush 😔)
11) Fun mini fact about me, I'm not much of a Shadow fan (Don't come at me) so I've never been too interested in him. However, the movie got me much more interested in him, and Shadow is now up there with the others. (Also made me feel much more for the poor boy :<)
12) Overall, the movie was literally the best one I have seen in a WHILE. Even though the movie had a lot going on, I still felt immersed in the story the whole way through. Character development was was amazing, Sonic crashing out was SO COOL??? Tails and Knuckles trying to stop him was just as amazing. Tails looking like a scared kid while Sonic and Knuckles were disagreeing tugged SO HARD onto my heart strings💔 I really recommend the movie, it was a great watch. I do however recommend watching the first two movies before watching the third one.
PLEASE DONT COME AT ME!!!
I am simply a teenage girl who's a little obsessed with the STH franchise and movies.
Also, I am not a proper movie critic. Please don't take this stuff too seriously 🙏🙏 Like I said, I'm simply a teenage girl who likes Sonic.
#EW SPOILERS OH NO!!!!!#miles tails prower#sonic the hedgehog#tails the fox#sonic and tails#sonic#unbreakable bond#sega#miles prower#knuckles the echidna#knuckles#shadow the hedgehog#shadow#sonic 3#sonic 3 spoilers#I am... teenager

Idea for a future Shadow, Amy, and Rouge movie/mini series/ TV special that would take place after the 4th movie.
Spoilers: You know the drill
They combine the Team Dark plotline from Sonic Heroes with the Black Doom stuff from the Shadow the Hedgehog game.
I think we all know an amnesia plotline would be pointless in the movies. So instead, how about they finally introduce Rouge. We can't have her working for GUN in her debut since they just keep leaving a stink on the Sonic cinematic universe.
Amy finds Shadow, and she drags him around, kind of like she did to Silver. We dont know where Shadow landed. She reminds him of Maria, and he takes Sonic's advice about new love and finding family to heart. Just taking the natural route for their dynamic that Sega refused to expand on.
He follows her, mostly quiet, mostly observing. Amy engages with him. Just full of energy, being herself. Not a one to one of Maria, but more casual. Amy is just enjoying the world. A world Shadow never got to experience.
And Amy takes care of Shadow, holding his hand, answering his call. She doesn't even know she's doing it. That's just who she is. Shadow occasionally recoils from the light coming off her. Maria's light. The story would be about that connection and helping Shadow adjust.
Rouge gets introduced as someone drawn to the explosion of chaos energy in space like Knuckles and Tails were. My original thought was that she was searching for the Master Emerald, too. But that might have to change.
There was no Space Colony Ark. So, how would Gerald and Black Doom have communicated without a fuss? Maybe Black Doom had an envoy?
Perhaps Rouge's people could be servants traveling across the Galaxy under orders. Minor scouts. Expendable. Only given minimal information for their tasks. But Rouge is a sneaky creature, lasting this long due to cunning and gathering info.
When Gerald's Eclipse Cannon goes off, the Black Arms recognize the energy as their creation. They send Rouge to check it out. Rouge would be the B plot. Keeping track of her progress with Amy and Shadow in the background.
She arrives at the military base. Finds it empty. She doesn't pay mind to the wreckage like Sonic would. She goes through the tunnels.
Back to Amy and Shadow: Eventually, as they traveled the world together (with Shadows' underlying angst), Shadow tells Amy that he needs to get/do something. Something important. Something he didn't think he would need to before. (After all, the plan was for everyone to die, including him and Gerald)
Amy being Amy says she'll go with him. If he'll let her. She knows he's not telling her everything. But she's willing to wait.
When they get to the base, Amy sticks by his side, looking around, because this was his home. Shadow is still pained. Maybe he tells Amy that he had a friend here.
Rouge's presence is made known. This infuriates Shadow like it did when Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails intruded. Like a tormented ghost haunting a grave site. His energy starts bouncing off him, and Rouge recognizes it from what she saw when receiving her mission.
Rouge is caught. So, of course, Rouge blends in, like she always has. She engages with Shadow and Amy.
She plays herself off as a treasure hunter/explorer. Someone searching for rare artifacts and specimens, but was drawn in by the massive energy beam that came from this planet a while back. Saying she came to learn what it was.
Of course, Shadow is hesitant to say anything about that to either of the girls. Though Rouge already suspects that he's the result of Black Arms DNA.
They explore past the tunnels. I believe they would find a robot friend down there. A seemingly unfinished thing that reminds Amy of the metal hedgehogs she fought before. Only closer in design to the egg bots. Almost like a prototype, but not quite.
Shadow knows what it is. Another Gerald Robotnik discovery. (Opens up a future for Gamma and Omega after the Metal Sonic stuff. Personally, I think Gamma)
Maybe they come across the Biolizard down there. Dead or barely alive. Resting, possibly. Or Shadow simply has a flashback of the Biolizard hanging on to life, that he wasn't the only one confined to this place. Possible Shadow feelings on his predecessors?
Rouge is smoothly digging through old Project Shadow files the whole journey, but still being, well, Rouge.
Amy is unsure about the bat. Maybe even confronts Rouge at one point, saying that if this goes bad for him or Shadow is hurt in any way, she'll have to answer to Amy Rose. Protective of this quiet, overwhelmed boy that she found.
Of course, Rouge isn't nearly as repentant(yet) on the other side of Amy's little confrontation
We keep searching. Shadow learns about and recognizes the horrors of Gerald's experiments. What it may have taken to complete him. He doubts his own purpose. Emotional support hedgehog Amy Rose works to put a stop to that.
We only saw his eyes surrounded by rock, and he said he had no memories beyond earth.
We learn about the Black Arms. Why even the doctors looked at Shadow the way they did. Maybe Shadow wasn't fully formed when he crashed on earth. Why? Where did he come from? What did he come from?
Rouge is suave while she guides them in the direction of Shadow's past. Amy tells him he doesn't need to do this if he's not ready. Shadow has no idea where he came from, how he got here.
Well, now is his chance to know.
So, they go run across the world using Rouge's rings. The current GUN doesn't have the answers. They search through Walter's old stuff.
And that's how Shadow would learn about Black Doom. What deal was it that Gerald made.
Maria didn't seem to be sick in the movie, and there was no indication whatsoever that Shadow was ever going to be used for cures or medicine. The only thing we know is that they were obsessed with his energy.
What is Rouge's Endgame? Is she supposed to bring Shadow back with her? Is she meant to trigger something? Is there a beacon? Are the Black Arms coming here?
So yeah, that's my theory.
Hopefully, Shadow will be with his girls at some point, having an arc.

Sonic Movie 3: It's Not About Shadow
I am probably going to catch hate anons for this, but I've promised a few different people that I'll post one. So, here's your spoiler warning for Sonic Movie 3, and also a warning that this is going to be Long.
Getting my personal feelings about this movie out of the way first- it feels like a dramatized AU someone wrote. It had fun moments, and it had scenes that were done very well! But even if I take a look at the movie from that perspective, ignoring the canon from the game it supposedly drew so much inspiration from, ignoring the games that came after and Shadow's canonical lore, the movie has plot holes in its own canon. My personal views are that the movie did Shadow's entire story and supporting cast wrong. The only good part about it was Maria's innocence, and even she had her story nuked. I'll get into that later.
Let's start where the movie does, with comparing Sonic and Shadow. Sonic states that he doesn't know where he'd be without his family, and the movie cuts to Shadow waking up from stasis. This is a part that I both really liked and at the same time feel iffy about.
The cinematic choice of doing a flashback to Maria playing the baseline of Live & Learn as Shadow wakes up was perfect. The song's message about learning from what happened and living on anyway was essential to Shadow's character arc in Sonic Adventure 2, essential to closing out a story in which a character that is always hunting the truth realizes that what he thought was the truth was actually a lie. The Sonic Adventure games' final boss themes, both Open Your Heart and Live & Learn felt like they were messages from Sonic to the respective characters of Chaos and Shadow. Chaos opened his heart and it was alright. Shadow may never find his way, but he lives and he learns.
At the same time, Sonic isn't that kind of character. He's a kind person that never opted for revenge until it was his only choice in the world, and even then he would never take that route. The movie addressed this in the end, but it drew a dynamic that just... isn't there. The comics, whether it was Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog both before the Sega Genesis Wave and after, or if it's IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comics, have had multiple instances where other characters press Sonic to kill Eggman. They bring up the traumas he's gone through and the crimes Eggman has done, the fact that Eggman killed people- and Sonic always, without fail, says that there has to be another way. Not just Eggman, either- Sonic does this for everyone. Emerl. Shadow. Merlina. Silver. Metal Sonic. It's been beaten into our heads time and time again that Sonic doesn't take revenge.
Shadow escapes from Prison Island, and here's another beat that I actually really liked about the movie. Shadow moves like a speed skater. I've had my issues with the updated way Shadow skates and how cartoony it is, and usually when I play the other games I preferentially look for mods that make Shadow skate like he did in SA2 because the little scoot scoot is so silly. SA2's animation looked fluid and natural in comparison.
Skipping ahead a little bit, another beat that was on-point for Shadow's characterization was when Sonic's team and Shadow meet for the first time. Shadow doesn't attack until he is pushed. That's not who he is. He just wants to be left alone and to process for a minute.
That is accurate. Without a driving force (Maria's promise, Rouge hunting for treasure, Eggman messing around with Emerl, the Black Arms invasion), Shadow spent his first few games just trying to process. We like to make fun of him and call it brooding, but when he's standing there with his arms crossed he's thinking. When Shadow gets a moment of peace- on board the ARK after saving Rouge, on the ship up to the ARK with Sonic- Shadow is going through the information in his mind and trying to make sense of it. He won't take an attack lying down, but he isn't going to just beat someone up for standing there.
And that's where Sonic Movie 3 stops feeling like it cares about Shadow as a character or his dynamic with Sonic. To explain that, I have to talk about Gerald Robotnik and Maria.
Stepping back for a moment, I spoke with someone who did not know the "deep" lore or anything really about the characters' backstory. They loved the movie and said it was enjoyable, and I agree that it was enjoyable. There were a lot of funny ha ha moments and witty lines. They also said that they agreed with my complains, but it didn't affect them as much because they weren't a die-hard Sonic fan.
I have a problem with that statement.
I try to avoid using the term "ableist" as much as possible, since I am not physically disabled and have no claims outside of mental health problems, but the simple truth is that the movie erased Maria's illness. Maria Robotnik was terminally ill. That's why Shadow was created in the first place. He wasn't a government project or an alien from space, he was something created as a medical cure.
This isn't something small in part for Shadow's backstory, it's a major point to his character. It's as major a part for Shadow as it is for Amy to admire Sonic, or for Knuckles to protect the Master Emerald. It's part of the entire plot of Sonic Adventure 2. Shadow would do anything for Maria, and her dying wish is his driving force in the subsequent games. He fully believes that the reason he has to destroy the planet is because Maria wished it. The only reason he stops the ARK from crashing into the planet is because the truth is that Maria didn't wish for that.
Sonic Movie 3 erases that critical aspect of Maria, of her being so kind that she would sacrifice herself for the sake of the very thing that was supposed to save her. It erases her disability. And it erases her dying wish. She just dies.
(By the way, you can find most of this out from the Wiki pages. I don't feel like this is about me being a die-hard Sonic fan so much as it is that the creators of the movie made a conscious choice to remove these critical aspects in favor of Ivo's story. You could argue that Sonic has also had many, many different versions of his backstory, including the one that movieverse has, but I will also reply to you that not in the universe in which Sonic was a ghostly force of good erased the presence of someone's disability.)
The lack of Maria's wish would normally be interesting to me, since Shadow now would have no direction to go off of, but the distinct shift in Gerald's character and the alteration of Shadow's backstory had me struggling throughout the movie. There's nothing of Gerald's original character present. The only similarities between Gerald Robotnik from the games and the Gerald Robotnik in the movie are the name and the fact that he was a scientist.
I know, Ivo is also very different from game Ivo. Like Sonic, we've had many different iterations of Eggman. The old Eggman from SaTAM and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was called Julian Robotnik, or even just "Doctor Robotnik." There was even a period in the old Archie comics where Eggman died (issue #50) and had to be replaced with a Julian from another universe for the sake of balance. A lot of the changes over the years were due to either lawsuits (thanks, Penders) or continuity problems, but the comics generally tried to follow the game canon.
But, again, the movie's directors were trying to follow Sonic Adventure 2, so we have to take a deeper look at who Gerald was. And Gerald wasn't kooky from the get-go, nor was he kooky when he was hell-bent on revenge.
Gerald Robotnik wanted to help mankind. He was one of the greatest scientists known, which was why he was asked to lead Project Shadow, a project to discover means to immortality. He wanted to use this as an opportunity to cure Maria. His first attempt produced the Biolizard. He managed to make Shadow after the intervention of Black Doom offering his own DNA. He realized his mistake and recorded a video of himself to eventually help Shadow when the Black Arms came back, but he was always trying to help mankind. He even gave Shadow a "heart" and a "soul" modeled after Maria's in hopes that Shadow would never become a tool for mass destruction. It was Maria's death that changed his personality from a kind old man to bitter and vengeful. He even says in his diary that losing control of his mind scared him.
Movie Gerald is just Movie Ivo, but older. He's insane from the get-go. The man is shallow and emotionally manipulative, playing as a kind of Deadpool-like character as the actor makes blatant references to the fourth wall. We get no explanation of his relationship with Maria other than he "brings her everywhere" and him telling Ivo that he is "no Maria." The subtleties of how he went insane are lost and his brilliancy in creating life is thrown to the wind in favor of the script just telling us that he's smart and that he supposedly loved Maria so much he wants to destroy the world.
There's no Space Colony ARK- that Gerald designed- with the Eclipse Cannon that was designed to destroy the Black Comet. There's no Black Arms or illness at all in the movie- Shadow is just a creature from a "black comet" and the term "the Ultimate Lifeform" is just a throwaway comment. Gerald's devotion and brilliancy is undermined in favor of cheap jokes and a frankly really strange montage between an actor and himself.
Once again, Maria's character- and Shadow's backstory- are reduced. We get more time going into Ivo's feelings than we do about any of the nuance that was in the original work.
Which leads me to the title of this rant: Sonic Movie 3 was not about Shadow the Hedgehog, it was about Ivo Robotnik.
We've been watching Ivo's journey from movie 1. Ivo is working for the government as a brilliant man, but everyone else sees him as a "dumpster fire." He's crazy, he's got no respect for others, and he has a sidekick that he doesn't really treat as a person but still somehow has a very sexually tense relationship with.
(I don't care what you say, nobody straight pins themself to a wall with a gasp like Stone does.)
Ivo outright states that he got bullied in school. Nobody likes him, so he lashes out at the world. With no one to talk to at the end of the movie, he starts descending into madness, where he's at with movie 2. Neato, they gave his mustache a backstory. He's back purely for revenge in movie 2, because he's lost his home and his position now too. We start movie 3 with Ivo's paunch having backstory, because he's fallen into a depressive state. He has no money, no power, no fame, and all of one person that hasn't left his side, and on top of that, the cause of his downfall shows up in the one place he can stay, which has to have caused him no end of emotional rollercoasters.
The movie then leads us on a story beat for Ivo. Someone wants his technology, someone thinks it's useful. (Hang in there, Stone.) It's been stated multiple times over the past few movies that Ivo has no family, which makes the appearance of his grandfather a pretty poignant moment for him.
Or. It would be. If it wasn't so weirdly done. I know, I know, I'm harping on a movie made for kids. But they could have made it fun while keeping the intricacies, and for all the hype, I personally was disappointed.
Again, this removes a lot of Eggman's canon dynamics with his family. In Sonic Frontiers, Eggman's diary entries talk about how he felt about his grandfather and how he never knew his cousin Maria. Sonic Adventure 2's Eggman states that he used to look up to his grandfather, and his plan for the ARK and Project Shadow just made Gerald look even more brilliant to Eggman. He is canonically attention-starved from his own family.
After a montage of Ivo finally having a grandfather, someone who needs his genius and thinks he is smart, we see a story beat about a neglected person realizing their true friend was right beside them all along. Stone doesn't give up on him the entire movie even though Ivo throws him aside because his grandfather could do him no wrong. Then at the end he realizes how insane Gerald is, that he doesn't want the planet destroyed- which is canon to SA2- and chooses to save it, even if it costs him his life.
This is more set up than the entirety of Shadow's story. The actor's dynamic with himself is focused on quite a bit, and with the additional phenomenal sad puppy eyes of Agent Stone's actor we have the kicked aside supporting cast we need. Of all the character "deaths" in the movie, Ivo is also the only one mourned for.
I'm bitter about that. But my personal feelings are another rant.
This is why Sonic Movie 3 is not an adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2. It is not a story about Shadow, or a way to set him up as a man-made powerhouse to contrast against Sonic's force of nature. It's a story about the Ivo Robotnik of the movieverse and his emotional journey with family.
There's so much more I want to say. I want to complain about how they only used Live & Learn for about five seconds, about how the stars twinkled on the moon, about Shadow not being mourned at the end despite the unskippable cutscene after the Finalhazard fight in SA2, about Tails the sweet 8 year old child cheering as an old man gets launched into what's basically a nuclear reactor-
But that's another rant, and if you've made it this far you're probably tired of reading for the minute. I'm doing my best not to bash the movie as it is.
All in all, I am glad I went to see it. But it is not Sonic Adventure 2. And I'm currently coping by envisioning it as a dramatized AU.
I look forward to deleting the hate comments from my inbox.

𝓚𝓾𝓻𝓽 𝓒𝓸𝓫𝓪𝓲𝓷 - 𝐵𝒾𝓇𝓉𝒽 𝒞𝒽𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝒜𝓃𝒶𝓁𝓎𝓈𝒾𝓈
warning: very, very long lol
I wanted to create an in depth chart analysis on someone, and it had to be someone famous whose life I knew well. I honestly don't keep up with celebrities much, but the obvious answer to me was Kurt. When I was an angsty, hurting, misunderstood young teenager, he had my whole heart. I came from a very 'pristine' upperclass neighbourhood, yet my home life was a battle ground. In my childhood, I didn't meet a lot of people like me who were also hurting or have been to dark places (or at least, nobody would talk about it), so someone as raw as Kurt & a sound as unapologetic as Nirvana was like an oasis, I felt love. I sort of grew out of the 'obsession' with him as a person, but I still remember the way Nirvana and Kurt's imprint on this Earth made me feel. I was utterly intoxicated. The music, the poetry, the eyes, the passion, the pain of an outcast, the sarcasm, the anger at injustice... magic.
So without further ado, let's delve into Kurt's chart. I'm going to try to talk about the key things I notice. I'll be applying Ernst Wilhelm's Dhruva Galactic Center Ayanamsa (on Astroseek, Galactic Center mid-mula).
Moon in Punarvasu
Let's start with the Moon, typically considered the most intimately personal planet in Vedic Astrology. It actually takes some adjusting for me to see Kurt as a Punarvasu Moon since in Lahiri he is Ardra and I think he's sort've become a 'poster child' for the moody, edgy, destructive nature of Ardra. Even I used him as a prime example of Ardra in a video a few years ago... but I realise now it makes perfect sense. He is still very Rahuvian, which I'll further explain in a bit.
First of all, we're looking at the Sidereal Gemini section of Punarvasu-a brilliant mind, comedic, a writer, a communicator, and as we know a musician. I see Punarvasu's Jupiterian nature in his kindness, gentleness and intense loyalty to his values when it comes to protecting & advocating for the innocent. Kurt was very protective of women and children and despite his 'rockstar' image, was humble and always seeking to use Nirvana's music to advocate for social change. I know this behaviour can be seen as Rahuvian in nature, but I actually think this perception comes from misunderstandings from the Ayanamsa issue. Rahuvians can absolutely take an interest in social/political protest, but often Rahu natives prefer to 'play the game' and find purity and order in the chaos & illusions rather than actively push for expansion (Jupiter) and change.
As seen through various forms of literature & media documenting his life, Kurt had a tendency to look out for & befriend underdogs- a common trait of Jupiterians.
Another thing to note is that Jupiter rules sound. A strong Jupiterian placement gives an extremely powerful sonic presence. Kurt was an amazingly versatile singer, his ability to alternate between soft, melodic vocals & raspy, fierce, powerhouse metal-esque vocals was- is, phenomenal. The emotion and meaning conveyed in his voice is felt vibrantly even when the lyrics are muffled (famously, Nirvana lyrics are hard to understand lol).
The gentle nature of Kurt's Punarvasu Moon really shines through in these photos I love. Not to mention, Punarvasu being the Cat yoni! Kurt adored his cats. He also adored his daughter, in the sadly, short time he spent with her, in interviews and photos taken around the time we get a glimpse of his love and tenderness.
Physically, yes, Kurt has very Rahuvian gorgeous eyes, the 'scruffy' look that's typical of Rahu men, etc. - but look at his chin! Jupiterian natives are easily identified by their prominent chins (Jupiter connecting to the voice places an emphasis on the chin/throat area). Not to mention his hair- Cat yoni Nakshatras often give very sleek, smooth hair like a kitty cat. I know a few Punarvasu men with that kind of hair.
Punarvasu Nakshatra is often connected to imagery of angels. A lot of famous photos of Kurt depict Angel-esque wings in the background. Nirvana's album 'In Utero', depicts the figure of a woman with angelic wings. I see the Punarvasu angelic effect in the way I often see people remarking that Kurt was 'too pure for this world'.
One more distinctly Punarvasu theme I want to mention - Punarvasu's mythology is all about second chances, 'trying again'. Before Nirvana, Kurt started a band called 'Fecal Matter' (lol, wonderful). The band fell apart, but then came Nirvana. It is said that Punarvasu natives always get a 'second chance' or that things come in twos.
tw//
Another much sadder manifestation of this theme: As talked about in 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck', as a teenager Kurt Cobain attempted suicide. He heard a train was coming then went and lay on the tracks. It turned out that the train went on the other track. I guess you could say he got a 'second chance' in a way.
As we know, his life ended through suicide :(
Kurt's Punarvasu Moon sits in his 10th house, considered the house of career, the public eye and ambition. This makes perfect sense and is a very common placement to see in celebrities. With Moon in the 10th house, the emotions and internal nature are on display to the public in some way, which is true for Kurt. The native is radiant and marvelled at in their vulnerability of spirit- the 10th house and MC can be seen as the sky, and when Moon is in the 10th, everyone is looking up at you, enchanted.
His Moon is quite close to Jupiter. Most people would say it's too far to be a conjunction and technically it is, but I have a very open mind when it comes to aspects- especially aspects to the Moon! The faster changing the planet, the more sensitive it is to surrounding planets. I would argue that the Moon can feel influenced by planets close to a whole sign away (I'll have to make a seperate post on this at some point).
Anyway, Jupiter being close to Kurt Cobain's Moon only enhances his Jupiterian qualities. Jupiter on (or near to) the Moon can amplify the intensity of a person's emotions and internal convictions.
Jupiter also relates to spirituality - Kurt explored different religious structures (Christianity, Buddhism, etc.) at various points of his life, which makes makes sense considering his Jupiter ('Guru', spirituality, faith) is in Pushya, a Saturnian (restriction, structure) Nakshatra. Pushya is also known to be the 'birth of sadness' amongst the Nakshatras.
Ascendant in Uttaraphalguni (conjunct Pluto & Uranus)
Of course, in traditional Vedic Astrology the outer planets aren't used, but I incorporate them; especially when they're this prominent in their positioning- Kurt has both Pluto & Uranus very closely conjunct his ascendant, Uranus & ASC forming a 0° orb. While amazing, it is very typical to see this or similar astrological placements in the charts of people who've had a major impact in this world! While the inner planets are more personal, the outer, slower moving planets speak of the masses. Outer planets are generational, showing their influence in major trends and global events.
Kurt having these outer planets so close to his Ascendant speaks to how powerfully influential he has been on our world. He's inspired not one, but now many generations of youth with his image, his legacy.
It is not uncommon for people with Pluto on the Ascendant to become famous for their death which rings true for Kurt. A lot of people who may know not much else about him or Nirvana, know of his death and the tragedy surrounding it. Pluto gives him a natural intensity.
Uranus on the Ascendant speaks to a person who is eccentric, erratic or somehow unusual. 'Alien-like'. Kurt is often praised for his unique, unconventional mind and approach to his artistry. The first house being intimately related to how a person dresses & represents physically, Kurt dressed in many controversial ways, often to make a statement on political issues (wearing dresses for example).
It is no wonder Kurt's ascendant is in Uttaraphalguni, a Sun ruled Nakshatra. Sun ruled Nakshatras are radiant and tend to make natural leaders. He was of course, the frontman or the 'face' of Nirvana. Uttaraphalguni tends to be very good natured, but no-nonsense. Especially in the Virgo section. Uttaraphalguni natives are often kind in my experience, but have little tolerance for lack of efficiency which is true of Kurt, who held his bandmates to a strong standard. This Solar objectivity of knowing what's up to standard and what misses the mark is likely a big reason for Nirvana's huge success! Kurt was known to be somewhat ruthless or at least, very particular in how he wanted things to go in the band. (also a trait we see in Venusian Nakshatras; Kurt having Rahu in Bharani).
Sun Nakshatras tend to bless their natives with a natural sense of ease and comfort. The unapologetic authenticity Sun Nakshatras radiate means it's not uncommon to see these people as pioneers in whatever their field is. Nirvana was a huge catalyst and made a name for themselves in the genre of 'grunge', but Nirvana continues to inspire all kinds of artists to this day.
Kurt having his ascendant in Uttaraphalguni made him a naturally magnetic person to women and men alike. People are extremely drawn to the warmth, loyalty and genuine nature of Solar natives.
Authenticity was a value held in extremely high esteem for Kurt. It was typical for him to do things like, playing songs Nirvana was told they couldn't play, just for the principle of it. While I mention Kurt's exploration of religion earlier, Kurt rejected the Catholic concept of God very strongly. He despised what he saw to be unfounded control over others' being, creativity & sexuality.
Sun Nakshatras are self made: they lead, others' follow/take inspiration.
A very good friend of mine showed me that people with strong Solar influence in their charts photograph very well in black and white because of their energetic radiance (they shine so brightly, they don't need colour to stand out). It also can be attributed to the fact that Sun Nakshatras tend to give strong and sometimes sharp & chiseled features. Another interesting thing is it's not uncommon to see Sun people with natural golden yellow-y streaks through their hair, which is true of Kurt Cobain.
Sun in Shatabisha
Shatabisha is the all seeing eye. It is the Nakshatra pertaining to secrets & the collective unconscious. Shatabisha natives are very tapped into the minds and emotions of the collective. They can be natural born mystics, very hyper aware of 'behind the scenes' or 'under the surface' societal themes.
A lot of Shatabisha natives are extremely cognizant of social & political issues. While I believe it is moreso Jupiter Nakshatras that take on that strong drive to actively make noise and make a change, Rahu is the observer, Rahu sees what is the issue. Hence Shatabisha translating to '100 healers'. Rahuvians will often dress or behave in unusual or eccentric ways, as if to show the world they cannot and will not be placed into a box of any kind. I mentioned earlier Kurt dressing and portraying himself controversially in ways such as wearing dresses, very aligned with Rahuvian nature.
Rahu/Shatabisha's sensitivity and attraction to altered states of perception (the all seeing eye wants to see the world from many angles) means that there is often a natural inclination to explore substances. A lot of Shatabisha natives I've met in real life engage in some form of escapism be it through gaming, drugs, or even sugary foods & energy drinks that give that hit. This is especially the case for Rahu influenced men rather than women, because the slightly more feminine nature of Rahu can feel less natural to men. They may feel they have a harder time dealing with the challenges/expectations related to being a man in society when they are influenced by such a flowy & feminine force. They feel themselves being the observer rather than the 'do-er' and it can cause self-esteem struggles. However, Kurt's other placements (namely, Jupiter & Solar influence especially) helped to give him a natural ability to be more hands on in life.
Of course famously & tragically, Kurt got lost in his addictions and his mental health deteriorated. I'm sure we can't blame the entire tragedy on Shatabisha energies and there's more in his chart we could look into to understand why/how this came to be, but looking broadly at patterns of Rahuvian men, we can understand the theme.
Shatabisha natives have the ablitiy make amazing art; the sheer vastness of their minds and Rahu's receptivity to external influences means that they have a wealth of ability to take in inspiration from others, then transform it into something unique and out of this world!
Every Shatabisha native I've met knows EVERYTHING there is to know about the artists, books, fashion, YouTubers, etc. they are interested in. They often have physical collections, and are very keenly attuned to pop culture (or just media in general). I've met a lot of Shatabisha natives who have a very specific genre/subculture they take interest in and know everything about, yet they still know everything about 'mainstream' culture too. Idk how they know so much lol, but I believe the all seeing eye effect of Shatabisha makes it easy for them to take in that information very efficiently.
We see this incredible art & knowledge of culture in Kurt, who was openly a fanatic of many other artists and referenced who and what he knows time and time again in his music.
Kurt's Shatabisha Sun is in his 6th house, meaning these energies are especially highlighted when it comes to his everyday life, day to day employment, etc. which we know is true seeing as he was a musician.
One of Kurt's first girlfriends used to be the 'breadwinner', and Kurt would stay home and paint or write music.
Also in his 6th house is Mercury in Purvabhadrapada- Mercury rules over the intellect, communication, thoughts. Kurt was known to be very moody and somewhat unpredictable. Purvabhadrapada's symbol is a man with 2 faces, so an unpredictable and dualistic quality can be see in the way he expresses himself. Mental health struggles can definitely be seen with this placement. Being the height of Jupiter, we also see a more aggressive form of Jupiterian challenging of limitations & societal expectations in Purvabhadrapada, which we do see with Kurt.
Uttarabhadrapada 7th House Stellium
Kurt Cobain has Venus, Saturn & Chiron in the 7th house.
The 7th house is the house of marriage, partnerships, business and other people. I learnt that the 7th house is associated with fame, as when you are famous you know a lot of people/are viewed by the people. Also, achieving fame often has more to do with connections, contracts, and partnerships than it does to do with ambition & talent alone. So it makes sense that a famous person would have a strongly lit up 7th house.
Looking at photos of Kurt, I'm noticing how Saturnian he appears- the symmetrical features, 'stern' look. That also can be attributed to him having a prominent Sun Nakshatra which gives a 'stoic' nature, but Saturn really comes through as well. He is also very Saturnian in his rulebreaking tendencies- Saturn Nakshatra men tend to have a strong internal moral code but love to break rules that they don't deem to be rules that are there for a good reason.
At 19, Kurt spray-painted 'God is Gay' and was arrested for it. He did this to irritate homophobic people, homophobia being something he stood strongly against having had a very close friend in school who was gay.
Uttarabhadrapada in particular is an extremely intense Nakshatra. It's related to sacrifice & suffering in the name of providing for the greater good, being the cow yoni (as cows provide milk). It's symbolised by the death bed. This is eerie knowing of his suicide, but beyond that I think it really fits with Kurt's views on fame. He didn't necessarily enjoy being famous or plan to become as big as Nirvana did, but in a way being that famous is sacrificial. The media milked him and his life in whatever way they could as they do with most uber famous people.
The 'suffering', Saturnian starvation and sacrificial themes in Uttarabhadrapada have a natural connection to the story of Jesus, which of course we see Kurt depicting Jesus on the cross in the Heart Shaped Box music video. A beautifully poetic song.
Venus being the planet of beauty, love, art, and femininity, means it is very important to look at in the chart of an artist, and Kurt's Uttarabhadrapada Venus being conjunct Chiron really speaks to how a lot of Nirvana & Kurt's songs speak of pain and suffering. Chiron is 'the wounded healer'- it is said that where your Chiron is can be where you have the power to help or heal others, but struggle yourself.
Of course, Kurt's 7th house Uttarabhadrapada stellium reflects his infamous relationship with his wife Courtney Love, very well. Kurt's ascendant is in sunny, jovial Uttaraphalguni, and many are of the opinion that Courtney or at least, the relationship really dragged Kurt down and wore down his psyche sadly. I don't like to speak too badly of anyone, but a lot of people see Courtney as a huge influence on Kurt's deteriorated physical and mental health. They would exasperate one another's drug issues, both struggling to stay clean even with a baby in the picture.
Courtney is really painted as a villain by many which is very Uttaraphalguni-Uttarabhadrapada axis... Uttaraphalguni is the shining Sun, Uttarabhadrapada is the dark, cold depths of the ocean... also, ice. This perception is rampant, many viewing Courtney as a manipulative 'psycho', some even theorising that Kurt's tragic death may have been a homicide of her doing.
You could even say that Courtney is the Uttarabhadrapada 'sacrificial lamb'; her own reputation taking a drastic hit so that the image of Kurt as blameless for how things ended can live on. Of course, it could be read the other way around in that Kurt was the 'sacrifice' in this relationship. Either way, these energies are present.
These photos of their wedding (famously, Kurt is in his pyjamas lol) in Hawaii are actually very Uttarabhadrapada in nature- the stormy dark weather and the ocean outside. The Sun is feint in the background- perhaps could be interpreted as symbolic of Kurt's Uttarabhadarapada 7th house (of marriage) drowning the light & joy of his Solar ascendant. Not that they had no joy together, but more that together they were headed down this dark path.
Rahu in Bharani/Ketu in Vishakha & Mars in Swati
Being a Shatabisha (Rahu ruled) Sun, Rahu in Kurt's chart becomes extremely significant being a depositor.
Rahu in Bharani is I imagine, at the root of a lot of Kurt's artistic interests. Kurt had a fascination with life & death, life in the womb, & the female anatomy, all Bharani themes. The most obvious example of this being Nirvana's album literally being called 'In Utero'. Also, there is a Nirvana song literally titled 'moist vagina' lol, a personal favourite actually (I find it so sexy & raunchy in an odd way haha)
Another thing that comes to mind is Heart Shaped Box- after Lana Del Rey (Bharani Venus & Rahu) covered it, Courtney Love revealed that the song was about her vagina lol...
Ketu in Vishakha can speak to obsession and drive, Vishakha being 'the Star of Purpose'. This is an extremely strong willed and potentially very artistic placement for Ketu. Vishakha is ruled by Indra, King of the Gods & Agni, the God of fire. Indra ruled over storms and rain. Ketu in Vishakha gives way to very intense emotions and a very powerful drive to create and fulfil what gives the native that sense of purpose. For Kurt, that was his music. I'll note that this means Kurt has a Grand Trine in the three Jupiter Nakshatras -
Moon in Punarvasu, Ketu in Vishakha, Mercury in Purvabhadrapada
A grand trine in a chart can point to someone possessing a unique gift or ability that comes effortlessly to them. As mentioned earlier, Jupiter rules the voice & sound in general. Jupiter rules expansion, growth. The weakness of Jupiter comes with overindulgence, going too far into the deep end. While Saturn willingly goes into the deep end through sacrifice & limitation, Jupiter can drive itself into dark places with its sheer lack of limitation.
_
Mars in Swati is at first glance, a very gentle Mars as Swati is ruled by Vayu, God of the Wind. It is not an angry Nakshatra perse, but it can be extremely cutting and 'quick with words' as it is the butcher caste. Of course, Kurt was a poet at heart.
One of Swati's main mythologies (to make it short and sweet) is about a boy who impressed the Gods with his bravery and abilities, and was then blessed with powers. However, the boy was a mischievous child always causing pranks, so for his 'naughtiness' he was then cursed to forget his story & his powers. However, later down the track he was reminded of his powers and his past.
This story highlights Swati's tendency to be extremely self-doubting of their own capabilities. They have 'forgotten' their powers and need to remember. Swati natives really struggle with feeling as though they aren't 'enough' and just like the story, really need people in their life who consistently remind them of their abilities and what they're capable of.
Kurt was known to be very self-deprecating in this way, often doubting his abilities and and despising the way he looked (also something we see with Chiron conjunct Venus).
Swati also gives a playful and childlike nature, often taking an interest in dolls, cartoons and other playful novelty things which is true of Kurt.
IC in Mula, MC in Mrigashira
Lastly, I'm going to briefly talk about Kurt's IC-MC axis.
The IC represents the childhood, home life & inner/private self. Mula is the final Ketuvian Nakshatra, and translates to 'roots'. Mula's primary motivation is truth, getting to the honest root of things regardless of whether it's pretty or not.
Mula for this reason is a Nakshatra associated with destruction, because the truth will often break absolutely destroy the ground of faulty foundations in society.
As the IC, this could represent a situation where in the household, this child acted as the whistle-blower of truth and saw through the family dynamics + were outspoken about what they saw. This rings true of Kurt, he was seen as somewhat of a 'problem child' at home and was outwardly, vocally embarrassed and unhappy with the turbulent family situation.
So at Kurt's core inner self, he valued truth. He would rather an 'ugly' disturbing truth than a beautiful lie.
The MC represents a person's outer persona, the identity and values the person wishes most to present to the world. Mrigashira is the birth of Mars. Mars is the maverick, the rebel, but also the fighter.
I definitely see that society at large had this perception of Kurt that he was this martian, aggressive person in some ways; especially taking the emotion and lyrics put into him & Nirvana's music at face value.
Mrigasira Nakshatra is known for being a 'troll', and Kurt trolled the media a looot. I think of that time in Nirvana when he intentionally butchered Smells Like Teen Spirit. Or him mocking the media's constant gossip about him like in this clip '...dead, pregnant, on heroin... I'm a hermaphrodite as well!' lol.
I'm going to finish this analysis here, this ended up being very long, but I hope it was interesting for someone! It was good practice for me... it also reminded me why I don't do readings anymore lol, I love astrology but... man. This was just the icing on the cake too!
Thankyou for reading ♡

Some Undertale gamer headcanons:
Someone said that Toriel would be the world Tetris champion, and I'm not sure why, but I agree with that. And not just Tetris, but bubble-poppers, match 3, marble-shooters, all of those kinds of games. She's the new Candy Crush mascot.
I've also seen people say sans would be into rhythm games, and... no. Why would you think he would be into something that takes that much effort? Seriously, come on. What sans is into is farming sim games. He's written dozens of online strategy guides for Stardew Valley, all of them under different pseudonyms.
Papyrus is into online multiplayers. All of them, any genre- Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, Elder Scrolls Online, Runescape, you name it. He sucks at all of them, but none of his online friends is willing to tell him how bad he is because he's so darned innocent and nice. Nobody really wants him on their team because he'll always make them fail the mission, but he's so upbeat and uplifting that no one has the heart to tell him they don't want him.
Undyne loves Souls-like and dungeon crawlers, but she struggles with anything that requires stealth, she just doesn't. do. stealth. She says it's stupid to have to sneak up on enemies, she should just be able to barge in with guns or swords or spears blazing in any and all circumstances. Don't ever even suggest Metal Gear to her. Or Breath of the Wild- she rage-quit after the Yiga Clan Hideout quest (although it did leave her with the impression that bananas give you strength in battle, so she now always keeps a bunch of bananas on hand).
Blooky plays solitaire and Mah Jongg, and even those stress them out.
Maddie plays casino and slots games. On an unrelated note, she's always broke.
Mettaton is the rhythm games master. You will not change my mind on this.
Alphys is HEAVY into JRPG's. The more anime it looks, the more she loves it.
Asgore has no idea what a video game is. Well, ok, he has some idea, his kids both played games, but he never could figure them out. He thinks Sonic and Crash are both Mario characters and that Link is a girl- you get the idea. But he did used to play card and board games with Toriel. Especially chess (she totally owned his ass in every match). Ever since Toriel left, he can't bring himself to play chess. He plays checkers a lot, tho. He usually loses (he plays against himself).
Asriel and Chara were into action/adventure games. Asriel's favorite characters were Yoshi and Link, while Chara's favorites were Samus and Shadow the Hedgehog. What? No, I'm not projecting my favorite games onto the Dreemurr kids. What are you talking about?
Frisk has only ever played the hit indie game Undertale. About 500 times. Always Pacifist, they've never even tried a Geno run. They've been thinking about playing that Deltarune game, too, but they kinda wanna wait until the whole thing is released.

Sonic movie spoilers:
- I like that they do a different approach on Shadow’s origin by having him not be artificially created. Instead, he has sort of a Superman origin where he was found by the humans from within a space meteorite. Where he comes from is a mystery even to him, so this tell me the movie franchise are open to maybe doing a Black Doom arc one day. And I dig for it 👍
- This also means Gerald is not Shadow’s creator. More so kind of leading the project on analyzing Shadow’s powers and the benefits it can have. Maria didn’t seem to have a terminal illness as far as we know. Just happen to just be hanging out at the lab.
- The way Shadow and Maria start to bond with each. It is SO. DAMN. CUTE. Shadow Ofcourse starts off being cautious and skeptical about Maria coming in to meet him. But Maria’s innocent plays helps him bond with her. I also love that Maria would find every way she can to give Shadow the most typical kind of childhood experiences he can possibly can by having him ditch being tested on and just being. Well. A “kid”.
- before anyone criticizes how Maria’s death, please note that this movie is PG. Maria dying from a gunshot is possibly the closest thing the writers could get to making the backstory as accurate as possible. So really, I don’t really care. The tragedy of Maria, along with Shadow and Gerald’s grief still greatly hits home.
- I like how despite Gerald and Shadow sharing the same goal throughout most of the movie, Shadow is shown to be more sympathetic than the professor. With Shadow, one scene, questioning Gerald with this is what Maria truly wanted. Gerald’s vengeance has fully consumed him to the point where he manipulates the people close to him. And would do anything in his power to make sure the vengeance he has is fulfilled, even if it kills him.
Not gonna lie, the part where Gerald tells Eggman, his grandson, “You are not Maria” is a huge oof in the heart.
- So Eggman just not giving a care in the world after seeing his grandfather instantly disintegrate in front of him makes Gerald’s death much more humorous than expected.
- Man sometimes I both hate and love it when fans are right about something bad happening to someone. Talking about the fact Shadow unintentionally punches Tom to near death.
- And that’s where we get Sonic’s reaction to it by becoming Shadow. Seeing Sonic get so angry to the point where he uses his super form for vengeance is honestly the scariest part of the entire movie. We never see Sonic get consumed by this kind of anger, so it makes the situation between him and shadow all the more serious.
- I had a feeling they were gonna play Live and Learn. I mean, they played it in the trailers. So they had all rights to play it in the movie too. But the movie is good at reminding us that we’re watching the Sonic Movie Universe. Not Sonic Adventure. Have Super Sonic and Shadow being badass while Live and Learn is playing and suddenly cut to Gerald spanking away at Eggman’s butt.
Makes me surprise that didn’t turn up to be one of my weird dream sequences after all. XD
- everyone cheered when Eggman accidentally “pisses” on the moon.
-The ending with Team Sonic having their wholesome moment once the whole ordeal is over will always stick to my mind.
- oh neat! Hi Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. I had a feeling you would show up. Didn’t feel the same hype I did with Shadow, but still pretty hype to see them in the next movie.

Hello there, love your blog, it's one of my favourite ones, I had a question... I read a comment that said Amy is no longer interested on Sonic anymore and that this is shown on frontiers, that they will make their own paths and lives, is this true?
Hey, anon! I'm glad you enjoy my blog! 🥰💙
No, no, Amy is definitely still madly in love with Sonic 🤭😁 The main reason she's been acting more tame and not so open about it is really just due to character development/maturity. According to Sega, "she's not [physically] chasing after Sonic anymore, but he's still #1 in her heart!" 💙🩷
Sonic Frontiers actually has a decent amount of Sonamy content, but moreso if you squint. 😁 First of all, it tends to address the situation more from Sonic's end, in his moments of saying romance-coded things like "Wish we were sharing an umbrella, Amy," and "Amy, I should've made up my mind sooner." 🥹
Sonic has always been shy about his feelings and therefore never said anything about said feelings to her, and he's more of an "actions speak louder than words" type of guy, but as she shared her desires to share her love with the world, he worried a little that he may have lost his chance. However, Frontiers also makes clear that his friends' plans to go on their own paths were not permanent. Especially seen in Amy's case when she told Sonic her plans, and Sonic replied, "I'm sure you'll do great. I wanna hear all about it when you get back!" 💙
As a bonus, the Final Horizons update treated us to a bit more Sonamy content as well. 🤩 In a conversation between Amy and Sage, Sage identified Amy as "the one who admires Sonic." Amy, with a bit of her younger behavior slipping out, replied with no shortage of sass, "Oh. And are you a fellow admirer? Hm?" 😂
There were a few conversations between Sonic and Amy, during one of which Sonic tried to tell Amy to take care of herself as well as the Koco. Amy ruefully retorted that she could say the exact same thing back to him. Sonic admitted that she got him there, and confidently stated that they would get through this together.
And of course, after all this, my favorite Sonamy moment of the whole game. After everything was over, his friends were restored, and he reunited with them.
The way Amy laughed and practically launched herself into his arms, Sonic's surprised little "oh!" but the way he welcomed the hug, and kept one arm around her as he high fived Tails and fist bumped Knuckles. 🥰 First of all, it's so obvious Amy had been dying to do that the whole game, and we can imagine it was tough on Sonic to be touch-deprived for an extended period of time once again (after the Metal Virus).
I think the main reason Amy didn't run to hug him when he freed her was because she immediately saw he was somehow struggling and likely didn't want to hurt him. (But then realized she wouldn't have been able to touch him, anyway. 🥲) Although it would've been kinda funny if she HAD tried to hug him and just fell straight through. 😂
I think it's worth noticing that Sonic has had this response to Amy's hugs several times lately. Instead of avoiding them, he lets her hug him and actually puts an arm around her in return. I've got a couple more examples from IDW.
Anyhoo haha, I think I got a little carried away. 😂 I hope this answers your question! Thank you for the ask! 💙

Opinions on Metal/Android Shadow?
Ah, unfortunately, you've touched upon one of the many reasons why I hate Sonic Heroes despite the fact that it's Omega's introductory game.
TL;DR: I don't like Android Shadow.
Putting my rant beneath the cut because I don't want to dissuade anyone from liking Android Shadow as a concept. I certainly am not the spokesperson for the fandom, and to be fair, I have seen a lot of fan works that play with the idea of Android Shadow in a way that I like quite a lot!
@wonderinc-sonic's works, specifically The Label-Maker Incident come to mind. Go check them out instead of reading my hater post, lol.
It's personal preference, but I always thought the question of whether Shadow was the "real one" or not was really lame. There's so much more interesting character drama you can do with Shadow and the whole "Shadow Android" storyline really distracts from that. (Where do I start? His trauma, his relationship with his creators, his difficulty adjusting to life on Earth already without the introduction of robot shenanigans, etc etc etc)
I hold the same belief about Shadow's amnesia, which is also from this game, which I also find really dumb. Sure, go ahead and take the fan favorite character and then erase literally everything he is as a character! Super compelling. Yayyy. (Sarcasm)
Plus, if Eggman can just build infinite Shadow Androids, it really upsets the power-scaling of the universe and makes you wonder why he doesn't apparently create perfect chaos-energy wielding, fast-as-sonic robots to just destroy everything that opposes him. You could say that the counter-argument is already presented in Heroes itself- Metal Sonic and E-123 Omega's rebellions -but in that case, why include Shadow Androids as a story element at all, then? To include them and then immediately throw them away because Eggman will never commit to it is just really lame.
Look, the Sonic franchise is a videogame series made for children with the reputation of some of the worst writing in all of videogames. We as Sonic fans like to embrace a lot of the weird, the dark, and the cheesy writing. There's a lot of earnest heart to it when you dig and transform it with your own hands! But that doesn't mean that SEGA writers are any good most of the time. Especially not in Heroes era.
Canon is fake and I am a writer committing word crimes. That's the reason I'll never really write about Shadow Android or Shadow's period of amnesia. I tend to omit them in any story, even if it's supposed to take place right around or right after Sonic Heroes chronologically. My biggest offenders are probably Residual Orders and Complex Inquiries in this regard. My only fic that's really even that compliant with Heroes is OPERATION: SELF DETERMINATION, but that's because Shadow is hardly even in that one.

Everyone please please please do yourself a favor and check out @suzienightsky's Phantom Ruby Illusion Tails AU, I am literally gnawing on the walls it's so good. This recent comic crumpled my brain like a soda can so enjoy this unhinged piece based off of it and its dialogue. ^.^
If you get there before I do, comin for to carry me home~
Stillness shatters against the soothing warble of an old friend.
Shards of sound so desperately sought after skewer him before he thinks better of opening his eyes, and soon after they burn in the blue crackling of electricity that blurs away at the outer corners of his vision like the stars he hadn’t seen in months.
He wants to wipe his eyes but can’t, for the fear of bringing his electrified restraints close to his face again, of which the last attempt had him seeing things that weren’t there, and left him forever wondering if he’d ever be able to trust them like he once did.
Tell all our friends I’m comin too~
He ends up weeping openly. This is a voice he trusts, even as everything else fails him.
“Tails!” He cried, but it’s hollow and hoarse and pathetic how little he had to say now that his days and nights blurred together in the miserable swirl of longing.
“T-Tails-!”
His pleas were underscored by the droning buzz of electricity that echoed off the metal and a melody so familiar that everything else gets carried away easily in the gentle fondness that came with it, in and out of the bars of his cell like the call of home.
A long forgotten and bespoke spark ignites within him, brought to life by Tails’ apparent easiness, in spite of the situation.
He remembers teaching him that song what felt like a lifetime ago…back when he was barely taller than enough than his legs that he refused to let go of.
It was a tad silly, he thought in retrospect, though Tails took to it so long as he kept his own promises to be back before the tune was finished.
As they grew, it fell by the wayside for quite a bit, though the assurances it was meant to symbolize lived on in the ways they always tried to protect each other from situations like these.
He really shouldn’t be so happy that Tails is putting himself in danger like this, but hearing his voice after nothing but the thrum of machinery and his own screaming was a balm on his aching heart.
It’s him-it was really-
“Comin for carry me home~”
A silhouette approaches the bars from the darkness, and as it does so, he notices that it glows with that same loathsome tint he can’t escape even in sleep-
It’s just another trick.
Another illusion meant to torment him-
“Here you are!” It called to him, though he doesn’t turn around. Maybe it will just go away on its own.
“You were right, you know…things are a lot less scary now.”
It hums the rest of the chorus sweetly, oblivious to the way each note pulverizes him and he feels mangled like he’s gotten caught within the mundane backdrop of pistons and gears.
“Who sent you this time?” He snaps before long, and the last note out of its lips sours and shrivels into silence.
Nevertheless, with a deep sigh that sounded more like static off an old TV than a transfer of air, its next words are no less chipper.
“You did…didn’t you? You wanted me here-”
“I don’t want ‘you’ here. I want YOU you-the real you-!”
“Sonic, don’t you recognize me? I’m sorry I took so long…really! I tried, honest…but you promised we’d be friends no matter what…didn’t you?”
Its voice quavers in that heartbreakingly agonizing way it used to, back when he would have to field this question at least twice a day.
He can’t help himself.
Against his better judgment, he looks up and stares into the slightly damp eyes of the doppelganger parading around in his little brother’s skin, as if it had the audacity to be upset when it couldn’t even be bothered enough to try to be someone he missed.
“It’s me…you still love me, right?”
The pounding in his head grows as his mind splits itself apart. For once he wondered if it would all stop hurting so much if he just went along with it and gave in because he’s been here eight lifetimes as far as he knows. One of them might as well have a shred of comfort in it, even if he knows it’s all that’s left.
But the other, more stubborn part angrily refuses to give up, because if he never gets out of here he’d at least have done right by his real little brother, who’s out there somewhere probably moving mountains for him.
Tails is a fighter. They should be arguing right now about things they already know are implicit, just to hear it out loud again how much they meant to each other. It wasn’t like Tails to cave, to crumble, he just wasn’t that docile toddler anymore.
And yet…
“If it’s you…the real you…you’d’ve sprung me out of this place already.”
He glares at the faded red phantom of his brother with all the malice he can muster, and while its grin never falters, the rest of its form seems to slowly crack around it.
“What if,” a line splits directly down and fractures from its ear to an eye, “the only way we could be together was if i joined you?”
“No!”
He tried to be intimidating, but as if his subconscious thought it looked enough like Tails to warrant the innate softening being around him usually did, it sounded less like a demand and more like a blatant plea to get him to stop eating stuff off the ground.
“You’re not real! You aren’t real! You’re just like the rest of them, just go back to where you came from and leave me alone!”
That was supposed to have been the end of it. Maybe he’d disappear after calling him pathetic, or maybe Infinite would appear again, least likely Eggman strolling by to gloat despite his obvious failure to trick him this time…
But nothing happens.
Another growing crack creeps up one of its tails and it looked pained as it watched, cradling it in its hands in a futile attempt to stop it.
“You always said it didn’t matter what I looked like.” While the words are despondent, there’s definitely an off-putting hint of anger buried within it that captures his attention.
“But now that I’m like this…?” It stopped, suddenly trying to hide all the cracks that marred his…its little body like scars in that way that was too uncanny to be replicated-
“I used to think maybe you were just like the rest of them too, y’know. You were supposed to prove me wrong.”
There’s years of pain and sadness compressed into his admission that terrifies him-makes him think that maybe he does have it wrong and Tails is really here-that maybe he’s had unspeakable things done to him too and he’s only making it worse by turning his brother away just because he’s also had parts of himself taken away that would’ve made the choice easier.
“Wait, Tails-!” He shouted, far too late. It’s gone again, and it’s all his fault he’s got nothing but the shadows to talk to now.
Until he turned back around.
“Hi Sonic!”
He nearly falls backwards onto the metal in surprise when he hears the high-pitched bleating of a dusty old computer struggling to start up.
“Tails…?”
The kid is behind him now. Inside his cell.
“Yes?”
And while he should be irritated at having allowed himself to be even momentarily swayed, it-he…still looked far too similar to his little brother to the effect that he doesn’t have the heart or the energy for this anymore.
“You’re…not really him…” He tried gently, deflated.
If he was lucky, the phantom would take after the real Tails and understand his approach.
His brother could take his licks and a bomb to the face with pride and come out of it no worse for wear, only to crumble away into nothing every single time his own careful fingers would softly brush against his wounds.
“What do you mean?” The phantom illusion of Tails beams and it stands in stark, unsettling contrast to the darkness that surrounds them, like he doesn’t understand and doesn’t want to.
“Of course I’m him!”
He appears to be completely indifferent to the way his voice distorts around the lie.
“I missed you more than anything-!” The phantom grabs at his hands and the electric cuffs sear into his skin at the agitation the static brings.
It felt like pins and needles everywhere else, and not in a normal way he gets to laugh it off when it’s convenient.
It’s chilling. And terrifying in a way he can’t explain.
“Sonic…?” Tails seems hurt that he pulled away, and tries toward him a second time as if to redeem himself. “It’s me…remember…? It’s okay to be scared, but…it’s just me…”
“No…” His heart races and he can’t hear himself thinking…normally this wouldn’t be a problem for him if he could just get away but there’s nowhere to run and he can’t, even if there was-
“It’s just me…let me help you-”
The phantom bounds towards him with outstretched arms and the world starts to close in and everything bleeds red…everything, from the walls to the bars to the stars that aren’t there to the streaks running down the phantom’s cheeks-
“Please…?”
He tries to steady himself on the metal that jutted from the wall, but as soon as he sits he’s crashed into atop the makeshift bed and what felt like a current of lightning erupts through his entire body as the illusion engulfs him in an embrace that’s something akin to running face first into an electric fence.
His thoughts dissolve quickly into a loud screaming chorus of pain and discomfort as the phantom sensation of his little brother burrowing into him continues.
Much as it hurts he missed it so much he’d burn forever if it meant he never forgot what it was like.
The illusion’s words become little more than a steady thrum that reverberate through him and remind him that he’s still alive.
“You’d never replace me, right? You promised you’d stay, always. I’m here now. Everything is going to be okay again…”
He doesn’t remember losing consciousness, yet he comes to so pleasantly he’d been momentarily thankful that it was all a dream.
But the only thing that illuminates his thoughts in the darkness is a persistent glow, reflections of things that were never there lending credence to his loneliness…
And a song he knew all the words to, once.
Sometimes I’m up, sometimes I’m down~
The phantom illusion kicks his small legs off the side of the bunk to keep time, smiling broadly in a way that made him queasy when he’d noticed he was alert again.
Comin for to carry me home~
His song punctuates itself midway through with a series of light-hearted giggles as if they were around a campfire, either unaware or unbothered completely by the sight of the oppressive prison they were confined to.
“I waited for you!”
There’s a deep gouge in his face, just below one of his cheeks that keeps him from grinning any wider.
“...why…?” It’s all his addled mind can produce.
Tails’ eyes flitted to the ceiling, almost as if wistful despite the grimy nothingness of the view he’d picked over time and time again out of boredom.
“You’re gonna be here forever,” he nearly whispers, and despite the severity of the statement it’s laden with no emotion whatsoever, “that’s why I’m here…to keep you company.”
The phantom of his little brother continues to hum softly as he stares, admiring the cracks in the darkened corners of the cell.
Now he’s more than annoyed…he’s scared beyond anything that his nightmares were finally becoming reality the less defined reality became.
He’d watched Tails die too many times for this to be the new normal.
Who’s idea was this? It’s far too ‘potentially altruistic’ a plan to have been Eggman’s design, and Infinite usually tormented him in other ways…maybe he’s finally lost it in here.
While he certainly doesn’t plan on being here forever, he absolutely prefers the company over nothing, though not necessarily all of his alternatives.
For all he knows, it’s already been forever.
And if this is all that’s left, then…
Maybe he would hang onto home just a little longer.

Silver had finally confronted the monster that had caused so much damage across his home city. Hospitals', schools', churches', and homes' were all destroyed. He had heard the rumors about who was doing it.
But he couldn't believe them. Sonic was dead, so how could it be him? He was a fool, and he knew that now, though at the same time his thoughts had truth about this thing, it wasn't Sonic; at least he didn't want to believe it was; it was simply a computer program gone rouge.
This is the first time he's seen this thing up close, and Silver was filled with rage knowing this thing had used his friend's face to perpetrate so many heinous deeds, not only his face but his voice and his mannerisms that smiled—the smile he had grown so fond of.
Silver stayed calm, though he wouldn't let his feelings get the better of him. He took a deep breath and stood in front of Hologram, who was just smiling at him. The smile was eerie and cold.
"Why?..."
That was all Silver could ask as he stared at the monster in front of him.
Hologram soon let out a hearty laugh before striking a snarky pose and faded away before suddenly appearing right in front of Silver for a moment.
"Why? Because they destroyed my legacy Silver, I was once a hero, and now? I'm a product placement and advertising thing I would never endorse. Even sweat shops use my likeness.
They don't see me for what I was; they see me as an advertising ploy, a way to use my likeness to make all these greedy people money, and I'm sick of it!"
Silver scoffed and waved his hand to disrupt the hologram's body; this made Hologram disappear and appear a few feet away from the other hedgehog, annoyed.
"You're not Sonic, because Sonic would never do this; the Sonic I know fights injustice; if anything, you're just a cheap copy that even Metal Sonic pulls off better."
Hologram turned red and grew in size before shouting loudly with a more robotic-sounding voice that was a bit distorted.
"I'M NOTHING LIKE METAL SONIC, I DON'T JUST THINK I'M SONIC, I KNOW I AM THE REAL SONIC, I'M NOT JUST A FUCKING UNTHINKING MACHINE, I HAVE MY MIND, I HAVE MY LOOKS, PERSONALITY, MEMORIES, EMOTIONS!"
Silver took a step back with a worried look on his face, but still had visible disgust and a hint of pity.
"One day you will realize your wrong... Hologram, but I'll humor you for now, 'Sonic' if you really were him, you'd snap out of it by now and realize what your doing is wrong."
"If you want to prove your 'Sonic' then please just stop; there is a better way of going about this! No one else has to die! I already had to accept your death once. Sure, I can visit you in the past if I want.
But I've seen you buried, and I can't bring myself to hurt you, even if you're not really him. Please prove you're still a hero and stand down. Think about the damage you've done. Just STOP!"
Hologram's face darkened; it disappeared completely as he thought about Silver's words. If he had a working heart, it would be beating right now. He questioned himself for a moment but soon stopped as a red glow appeared where one of his eyes should be.
"I'm sorry, Silver; I'm afraid I can't do that."
And before Silver could respond, he noticed something: he didn't see Techie with Hologram.
"Where is Kaboo-?"
An explosion was heard off in the distance, and loud screaming could be heard along with a large smoke cloud filling the sky. Silver turned around to look at it in utter awe and horror.
Hologram appeared right behind Silver, the red glow completely covering the other hedgehog as he whispered, "Go on, 'hero' save the day; you always told me you wanted to be a hero like me, so prove it and go die like one too."
Silver had tears fall down his face as he heard Hologram say this, and he turned around in an attempt to punch him, forgetting he was intangible, and he shouted loudly. "SHUT THE HELL UP, FAKER!"
Hologram just looked at him with that iconic smug smirk he had always seen Sonic look at Eggman with and responded one last time.
"Heh, well, I gotta skedaddle, old buddy, but I'll see you again later; this hedgehog's got a busy day napping ahead of him. Good luck, buddy! I believe in you."
And like the smug bastard he was, he blew a kiss at Silver and winked before disappearing as quickly as he appeared.
Silver's heart skipped a beat for a moment, but he soon shook his head and wiped tears from his eye before heading towards the city in an attempt to save what lives he could from whatever this imposter did.
While Techie and Hologram escaped the crime scene before he could get there, this wasn't the last encounter they'd have, but Silver knew that he needed to stop Hologram at any cost, feelings be damned.

Drained Chaos
Based on an idea @mcfanely and I chatted about.
It’s short and another of my “no real idea what the bigger plot is, but this scene popped into the ol’ noggin and wouldn’t leave” dealies.
~~~~~
The fight was going well.
Sonic and crew had been chasing a gang of weasels around the city, after getting a tip they were stealing technology for Eggman. Why Eggman needed other technology when he could just as easily create his own was a question they’d yet to answer, but that was something for another time. They’d cornered the weasels in a warehouse, half-empty with crates of unused goods.
They’d split up, and each focused on one of the Eggman lackeys. Knuckles could hear the whirring of Sonic’s spindashes, and the hard poundings of Amy’s hammer. Tails was overhead, using his altitude to rain destruction down. The kid loved to dish out some well-deserved justice.
Knuckles himself dealt with a particularly brawny weasel, and the two seemed well matched. The echidna did not pull from his chaos reserves, what would have given him access to his full power for his blows, instead electing to keep his strength closer to his opponent’s. He hadn’t had a fight this satisfying in a while.
As the two sparred, trading blows and over-confident quips, something began to pull at Knuckles’ mind. A warning. Something was wrong.
It suddenly occurred to him that his opponent didn’t seem to be trying all that hard to overpower him. In fact, he seemed to be . . . almost herding him to the far end of the warehouse. Away from his friends. Where there were more crates stacked, the perfect place for--
Two more weasels stepped from the shadows, one holding a thick metal collar in his hands.
An ambush.
Knuckles cursed his lax in focus, and dug deep to pull chaos energy to the surface. But before he could get more than his fist raised, his large opponent got a solid blow in on the echidna’s nose. There was pain, and stars flooded his vision, right before something cold and hard and heavy clamped around his neck.
Uttering a strangled cry, Knuckles reached up to rip the collar off, when it activated. He froze, his stomach dropping, his heart racing. The world swam as he felt a strong pull, and the chaos energy he’d always felt inside—that warm, comforting feeling that swirled within him since he hatched, giving him strength and focus—suddenly drained away. He gasped, nearly choking on the way his body lurched forward.
He couldn’t focus. Couldn’t concentrate. The world around him felt fuzzy and dull and unreal.
He felt like he was underwater, but his lungs still pulled in air. His body still moved, although slower and without conviction. He was vaguely aware of movement around him, someone talking. The sounds floated over him, never finding purchase.
Was he still here? Everything felt so far away. Disconnected. He blinked, his normally deep violet eyes faded to a light lilac. He fell to his knees, suddenly too weak to stand on his own.
Knuckles the Echidna was being drained of every last bit of chaos energy he possessed.
“Knux!”
The cry floated over him, and he blinked up to see Sonic hurl himself at the remaining weasels. Tails and Amy were hot on his heels, and the three quickly formed a protective ring around the downed echidna.
“Get that thing off him!” Sonic called to Tails, his face pulled in an angry snarl. “Ames and I will take care of these bozos.”
“I’m on it!”
As Sonic and Amy tussled with the weasels, the little fox spun and pulled a screwdriver from the pouch on his belt to fiddle with the collar around Knuckles’ neck. The second his tool touched the metal, however, sharp spines shot out of the inside of the collar, piercing the echidna’s neck. Knuckles cried out in pain, the sound loud and sharp.
Tails backed off immediately, holding his hands up and away from the device. After a few more seconds, the spines retreated back into the collar, leaving Knuckles panting on the ground.
“I can’t touch it!” the fox called, voice full of frustration. “It’ll hurt Knuckles!”
“Great,” Sonic grumbled, before grabbing on of the nearest weasels by the jacket. “Get that off him, NOW!”
The weasel sneered, uttering a little chuckle. “No can do. The only one who can remove it is Dr. Eggman. He’s got plans for that musclehead.”
Before Sonic could say anything else, the weasel in his fists pulled a detonator from his pocket and pushed the button. The entire back half of the warehouse exploded outward, giving Eggman’s henchmen a chance to escape. The hedgehog zipped next to Knuckles to be sure they wouldn’t take him with them, and shielded the echidna with his body to protect him from falling debris.
The four friends stumbled out of the destroyed warehouse, coughing and hacking at the smoke in the air. Amy and Sonic supported Knuckles as they escaped to the fresh air of the outside, and Tails hovered before the echidna with a worried expression.
“We need to get him to my workshop,” he said, his hands curled to his chest. “I don’t know what that collar’s doing to him, but he’s looking really bad.”
Knuckles was in no shape to argue. His limbs felt simultaneously heavy and numb, his mind a fog. He couldn’t stand. Couldn’t speak. Couldn’t comprehend the words said around him. It was as if his entire being, everything that made him him, was gone.
The echidna hung between his friends, as they hurried toward Tails’ workshop.
~X~X~X~
An hour later, Tails looked between the monitor and his Miles Electric. He’d run every test he felt safe enough to do so, and the results weren’t promising.
“So what’s going on?” Sonic asked. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed. “What is that thing and can you remove it?”
Tails shook his head. “I don’t know, and I don’t think so. Everytime I tried to touch it, even to just examine it, it exhibited some sort of ‘deterrent’ by hurting Knuckles. I don’t dare even get near it at this point.”
They looked to the echidna, lying on the table in the middle of the room. His breathing was short and shallow, and his fur looked as though it had paled. He’d fallen unconscious on the way over, and now lay limp and motionless.
“What’s it doing to him?” Amy asked, her voice soft. She reached toward Knuckles, gently brushing her hand over his.
Tails sighed, flicking through a few screens on his Miles Electric. “Near as I can tell, it’s acting as some sort of capacitor. It’s draining the chaos energy stored in him. Storing it away. There’s a faint radio signal coming from it, which I assume is Eggman keeping tabs on him. But as for why?” He shook his head. “I don’t know.”
“Eggman’s always trying to find the chaos emeralds to use as power sources,” Sonic said, his muzzle wrinkled in disgust. “Why not go after them? Why do this to Knux?”
The fox kit rubbed his chin. “Knuckles has a special connection to the Master Emerald. And I’ve taken readings on him in the past that show he possesses more chaos energy than anyone, except when you go Super, Sonic. Maybe . . . maybe Eggman is using him as a conduit? Kind of a living battery.”
They all turned to look at Knuckles then, and an unspoken thought passed between them.
He didn’t look like the ‘living’ part of that description was going to apply much longer.
“So what do we do?” Sonic asked, moving closer and planting his hands on his hips. “How do we get that thing off him? It’s gonna bleed him dry and then . . .” He turned away hands curled into fists. “What do we do, Tails?”
“Maybe we should take him back to Angel Island?” Amy suggested, her hands clasped before her chest. “Maybe his connection to the Master Emerald will help.”
Tails shook his head. “His connection to the Master Emerald is exactly why we can’t take him near it.”
She furrowed her brow. “Why? What do you mean?”
The fox kit held up a finger before reaching to the unlock the lead-shielded cabinet against the far wall. Then he pulled out a black gem. Holding it up, he nodded toward it. “Because this is what he did to a red chaos emerald.”
Amy and Sonic stood and stared at the gem in Tails’ hand. The only time an emerald turned black is when every bit of chaos energy was sucked out of it.
“Knuckles did that?” Sonic asked, moving closer to take the gem into his own hands. It felt heavier without its energy. “How?”
“When I discovered his chaos energy was being drained, I thought introducing more might help stabilize him. But the moment I brought this close, he just kinda . . . pulled the emerald’s energy to him, and it went straight into the collar.” He took the dead emerald back. “I think taking him close to the Master Emerald would be a very bad idea.”
Silence settled over the workspace then, and all three looked at the failing echidna on the table.
~X~X~X~
Knuckles’ consciousness floated. Adrift in the swirling currents of chaos.
He felt the pull of chaos, that constant, ever-present flow he’d felt since he hatched. But there was another pull, one that felt unnatural, as if trying to redirect the current of a river. It tugged at him, pulling that warm, comfortable chaos away.
Floating. Pushed and pulled without direction. He couldn’t understand what was happening. He wanted to call out, to reach for the Master Emerald, to ask it to help him get himself back under control.
But the more he reached for it, the more it pulled away. It was afraid of him. Afraid for him. And a part of him, some small part that still understood, pulled himself back, too. If they connected now, disaster would befall all of Mobius.
And so Knuckles faded. The unnatural pull continuing its thievery of his chaos energy, his very life force. And he allowed it to happen, severing his connection to the Master Emerald in a last act of his duty as its guardian. He vowed to keep it safe. And that included safe from him.
New fic! For @eggseabutter (sorry for tagging you again)
Eggdad propaganda! It’s a 5+1 fic
Sometimes you find family in the most unexpected of places. You know what they say— keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Read Below 🔽
Dr. Ivo Robotnik was bored. Very bored.
But esteemed doctor, you ask, how does one such as you get bored? There’s still a world to conquer!
You see, conquest is only so entertaining. It’s no fun if there isn’t someone trying to stop you, is it? The terror of villagers tends to get tiring after a while, especially when they simply run and hide at his approach.
He mulled over his problem as he flew around aimlessly, having been testing his new aircraft. It’d definitely make things more interesting if there was someone to help out the other side. His evilness was exceeding his own expectations. There was too much of an imbalance.
He needed an enemy. An archenemy! Someone who was heroic and kind and brave and whatever they say heroes are like. Someone who’d be fun to mess with, someone who’d pose a challenge. Yes, yes. He just had to find someone.
Where was the only question…
A sharp scream, abruptly cut short, startled Robotnik out of his musing, causing him to pout. He looked around to find an unusual sight— a gaggle of kids, not older than twelve, had… what’s the word… ganged up on a little blue hedgehog and were carrying him, each one gripping a squirming limb, to somewhere undetermined.
Peculiar. It didn’t look very friendly to him, but maybe this was something children did now?
The doctor watched the strange procession, because why not. The kids hadn’t noticed him at all— at least, that’s what he thought… until the victim of this happening suddenly stared up at him with wide emerald eyes; terrified, pleading.
Robotnik was taken back by the direct eye contact, but he didn’t have the time to think about it. Nor did the boy, who peeled his gaze away with a strangled whimper. Right then, the older children stopped at their destination. Before he realized what was happening, the band tossed the hedgehog over the side of the cliff, leaving him only enough time to cry out before a loud splash announced his plunge into water, probably a lake, eliciting a cheer from the bullies above.
Something surged within the doctor right then— anger, perhaps. Heart over mind, he fired a few shots from his aircraft, scattering the mean bunch, before diving downward to check on the hedgehog.
He was not faring well. It was clear at once that little blue couldn’t swim, yet was making a pathetic attempt at it, splashing frantically and taking in enough water to rival a sinking ship.
That angry feeling grew stronger.
What kind of children would do something like this? Condemn another to what could very well be death?
A metal claw extended and caught the boy by the scruff, quelling his struggle, and pulled him back up to where the bullies stood just moments prior. As soon as he was let go, the hedgehog squirmed and coughed up water violently, gasping.
Robotnik hopped to the ground and knelt beside him, awkwardly patting between his back quills as the events that had transpired sank in (pun not intended). Oh Chaos, this is weird, he thought. What am I doing?
He wasn’t supposed to save people. That’s what heroes do. And he was a villain.
To make himself feel less uncomfortable, the doctor began to talk. He’d always been good at that. “You know, kid, you need to stand up for yourself. Get a weapon or something. Fight back” he rambled, and an image of the little hedgehog carting around a blaster made itself known in his mind’s eye, causing him to snort. “Okay, maybe a blaster’s a little extra. That’d definitely scare them off, though. It’d be funny to watch. Or— Ooo, maybe you could set up a trap. That’d be fun. Pit traps, net traps, cage traps, bear traps… the possibilities are endless! They step in the wrong place and BAM! Problem solved.”
The hedgehog peered at him curiously, emerald eyes tinged with what was probably horror, and Robotnik realized that he’d gone off on a tangent again. Oops. “Ahem. Uh, just something to think about.” He hoisted himself back up into his aircraft, settling comfortably.
Meeting the gaze of the wide-eyed boy as he lifted off the ground, Robotnik spoke in a hushed tone. “If anyone asks you, this whole saving-your-butt thing”— he waves his hand for extra effect— “never happened. Got it?”
The hedgehog blinked, then offered him a small grin in response, giving a playful salute as the doctor flew off, engine sputtering faintly.
And if anyone saw him smile at that gesture— no, you didn’t.
