Look deep inside yourself and ask why you want the indigenous female character to be scarred for the rest of her life, reliving a traumatic experience ALL TO BENEFIT A MALE CHARACTER.

Or…hear me out here…MAYBE ITS BECAUSE SHES a 14 YEAR OLD Girl??? Why do you want her to have a big chest? What the fuck is wrong with you? The show itself points out the way Katara is sexualized in the fandom in the ember island episode? And yet all of that just went over your head and you’re sexualizing her again and again? So she could fit Zuko better than Aang?

I have never ever felt so protective over a fictional female character. She’s a character I grew up with, she’s inspiring to so many people. She is an actually well written female character, with depth and flaws, and a character arc, yet certain shippers cannot stop undermining everything about her just to uplift their dumbass ship! And these are the people who preach feminism to the rest of the fandom. Leave Katara the fuck alone!!! Just admit you want to be with Zuko and SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Seriously take 80 steps back from me expeditiously. That ending reaffirms the idea that women should just give and give and give until it kills them. That the only good victims are dead ones. Oh season 6 is sad and uncomfortable and you miss the vibes of the previous seasons? Guess what every single person who has been traumatized wishes to be the person they were before that they can never get back to. Buffy season 6 and 7 is one of the most important representations of what healing looks like after severe trauma and chronic abuse. It’s an obscenely important story to exist. It tells victims of trauma and people who suffer from depression there is a way THROUGH you CAN recover you won’t be the same but you’ll be even better if you learn to love yourself. Because of seasons 6&7 Buffy gets to reach actual adulthood empowered and supported in a way she never has been before and escaping the town that had become her personal hell

This is not some sort of evolved, media literate take that so many like to present it as. Buffy ending at s5 would just reaffirm so many problematic and harmful narratives around mental health, healing, and what is possible for women and people with childhood trauma.

S7 & the comic s12 ending tell us that it DOES get better and that death is not the way out and fighting for your future even if you can’t picture is will be worth it 🖤

Adaine making peace with Aelwyn (who she hated at the start of the series), convincing her to betray their abusive father and then preceding to kill said father (who never believed in or loved her) in one hit by physically punching him in the face (aided by a extremely powerful spell that was handcrafted and named for her by an extremely powerful wizard who does believe in and love her (they’re best friends)) and then saving her sister’s life because she loves her and knows that Aelwyn was just a much a victim as her and wants to have a relationship with her outside of the control of their absolute piece of shit parents is simply one of the best arcs. Ever.

Erica Schultz' Elektra run so far has been intensely frustrating to me, because on one hand, she clearly has more love and knowledge about Elektra as a character than Zdarsky ever did. Little details, like Elektra's burner phone from when she was an assassin, or just giving her a character outside of Matt – these things are pretty good, and I like them. She clearly understands the feel of the character, and she's certainly done more for Elektra than Zdarsky ever did.

But I feel like every Elektra story of hers so far has fallen short in the same way. And I think it's because she's depicting Elektra a little more like herself, but seems ignorant to how unhealthy, uncomfortable, out of character, demeaning and unnecessary Daredevil!Elektra actually is. And she keeps squandering opportunities to shed the mask.

Maybe it's that her hands are tied. Or maybe it's that she genuinely likes writing Elektra in this way.

But there's something endlessly frustrating about the marketing for Unleash Hell using "Murder is an Art!" as a tagline, but then doubling down on the fact she doesn't kill now.

They're giving Elektra her font back. They're giving her a red band comic. But they refuse to let her reclaim her own name, or to have a life outside sharing Matt's identity just to please him. It's so exhausting.
