wish we got like a spin off series or something of Azula recovering and getting her own redemption arc

like after she is like released from being intutionialized(after a few years mind you)she gets put in irohs custody and she starts living in ba sing se and starts making her own choices and she can't really control anyone around her because Iroh is not putting up with that and over time she starts improving and she realizes that "oh shit i was..not good..at all" and she does her very best to make up for it by starting with writing to Zuko apologizing for everything(Iroh does remind her that "hey everyone might not forgive you and that's okay you still deserve love and respect anyway" but in his own yk)

and like At first Zuko doesn't forgive her(and that's okay) he's skeptical, he does care for her but after everything he's been through he's not sure if it's just some sick prank or not

eventually he does visit iroh and Azula and sees yes she is actively doing better and trying to be better and goes "okay... i don't forgive you yet but i'm willing to start trying to rebuild our relationship:)"

and Azula is okay with that

she probably also wrote to Mai and Ty lee informing them that she is sorry and that she's trying to do better and that nothing she says can excuse what she did and that they don't have to forgive her if they don't want to(maybe they do maybe they dont idk!)

she probably writes to the rest of the gaang too apologizing yk

oh also?? in the beginning maybe she like has nightmares about the war(like everyone else obvi) and also nightmares about the abuse she endured from Ozai and at first she stays quiet about it(she doesn't want to appear weak) but one night she ends up having a panic attack from a nightmare and Iroh comforts her:(

and idk...maybe she meets Jin...maybe they become friends...maybe she learns how be a good friend to Jin....maybe even more idk...i thought that might be cute....

maybe nearing the end or something she's like gotten her own apartment and everything and she's invited to go back to the fire nation if she desires to and she's like "..you know what? i think i'm okay here:)"(bc probably in the beginning she was like "I WANT TO GO HOME. I DO NOT LIKE IT HERE. WTF.")

idk obviously others have written Azula redemption arcs and have explained it better but this is just my vague idea of how it goes

MIND YOU A LOT OF THIS SPAN ACROSS SEVERAL YEARS!!!! Azula would take a lot of time to heal and to learn to grow and be better and that's okay, she needs that time to be better.

Sevika knows what’s coming before you even step into the room. It’s not just the scent, the lingering smell sugar and butter on your skin or the faintest dusting of flour on your cheek. its the mischievous look in your eyes. the plate in your hands, half covered by a napkin like you’re about to reveal something truly evil. She groans, dragging a hand down her face. “What is it this time?”

You grin “I did a thing” she rolls her eyes reach for the plate you slide up to her like you’re offering her a bribe. “I tried a new dough ratio, and I need my strongest, scariest, most brutally honest taste tester.”

Sevika scoffs She knows how this goes. You shove food at her, grin up at her expectantly, and watch her with entirely too much interest as she takes a bite. And maybe that was fine… maybe before she started noticing the way her midsection wasn’t as cut, before her waist pushed softly against her waistband, before she started pulling her shirt down whenever she caught her reflection. But you couldn’t understand? you don’t see what she sees.

No, you just beam at her, nudging her arm. “C’mon. Taste test, taste test.” She rolls her eyes but obliges, taking a slow, deliberate bite. It’s good… of course it is. but she’s too focused on the way you’re watching her, hands on your hips, already waiting for feedback. “Well?” You rock on your toes to your heels, eyes bright. “Fluffier than last time?”

Sevika chews slowly“Yeah. Good texture.” You hum in approval but don’t move, still watching her, your gaze lowers to the way she shifts in place like she’s uncomfortable in her own skin. You watch her a little long with a confused expression briefly crossing you features. Then, without hesitation, you step forward and rest a hand to her waist.

Sevika tenses and pulls back. “What are you?-”

“Appreciating my loving beautiful strong girlfriend” you say simply, squeezing lightly, rubbing small, slow circles over the muscle softened back a small layer of fat beneath your palm. “Do you know how happy it makes me to see you eat? Like actually eating instead trying to sustain life on 3 meals of tobacco washed down with alcohol!”

Her stomach clenches, whether from your touch or your words, she doesn’t know.

“You’re acting like Ive never ate before.” She tries for dry humor, but it comes out rougher than she intends. You scoff. “You survived, Now you eat because you can.” You squeeze her gently, then press yourself fully against her, arms looping around her waist, hands settling over her stomach like it’s your favorite place to touch.

Sevika swallows.

“You don’t have to love it yet,” you murmur, resting your chin against her chest, gazing up at her. “But I do. Every inch of tou.”

She exhales sharply but she doesn’t pull away. Doesn’t tell you to stop. And when you press another treat into her hand, eyes warm and teasing, she eats it she might be muttering and rolling her eyes but she doesn’t outright and directly argue with you.

Since Ichigo dies at about 15, and Hatake get their marks at like 14? what do her clan markings look like? 👀

OHHH OK THIS IS ACTUALLY A WHOLE THING, SO,

Ichigo got moon stripes !! It's also known as the story teller stripes, and is the traditional tattoos of the Hatake clan's religious leader and story keeper. Which Ichigo does end up in training to become!

There's actually a bit of drama with the fact that Yuki, the current clan shaman, is so old (she's in her 70's, which is basically like being in her 120's for a shinobi), and she's only now picking an apprentice in Ichigo.

Yuki did actually have an apprentice before, who was fully trained and set up to take up the position whenever Yuki died— but they were one of the 5 Hatake to die to illness the winter before the Hatake were summoned to iron court (which is the event that got the ball rolling on the Hatake joining Konoha a year or two later)

Yuki settled on Ichigo being her next apprentice relatively quickly after that, but wouldn't actually tell anyone about it for some more years— stubbornly staying quiet on the topic even when pressed with increasingly stressed and worried questions about it. Ichigo was only about 8 at the time, but Yuki set to training her just a little bit under the table

It was easy enough, when Ichigo was always happy to listen to her stories and gossip about past and present events. Ichigo kind of ended up soaking in a lot of things she'd be expected to learn in the role (religious rights / mythos of spirits and gods / traditions and why they do them / stories passed down through the family / etc.) naturally throughout the years.

Finally, Ichigo turned 14 and lead her first hunt— the marker of a Hatake coming of age. Afterwards, it was Yuki's job to give her the stripes Yuki deemed to 'fit her best,' which is ofc when she gave her the moon stripes and officially announced her plans with a "teehee congrats <3"

It wasn't actually too much of a surprise to those who'd been paying attention to what had been going on, but still caught some off guard. Ichigo had been "training" for like, 6 whole years at that point, without even realizing it. So she was honestly pretty well into her education on the roll, and would probably only need a few more years afterwards to be deemed officially ready to take it on

But then ofc, she dies a year later. And Yuki dies in very quick succession. (Losing her third apprentice, and so old already, had done terrible things to her heart and spirit) And with both of them went a very large portion of the clans history.

Others in the clan, of course, still knew plenty. Yuki's teachings had not been for Ichigo alone, and many had sat by her side and listened to her stories as well. But no single person knew as much as they had or had been in the same position of authority to do things like honoring the spirits of their ancestors or assigning Hatake stripes to their young.

In their deaths, Haruka had to take up many of their duties, mostly by default via being the highest other figure of respect in that regard. But they lost a lot.

There's some sort of interesting point to be made that the Hatake's religious leader wears tattoos that symbolize a red moon. And that Kaguya-hime is among the gods they pay respects to.

I don't really have any real thoughts on it other than going "hmm." and writing that down to reference later, but like !! That's something

godd these last pages have been so heart wrenching for everyone but who really breaks my heart is Rachel. if anyone’s feeling like a fool it’s her!! turns out your best friend of however many years/boss and your other bestfriend/little brother surrogate are the same person and you don’t know if something happened to one of them or if they’re even real or if it was all just an act or what!! but you cared SO much for them and you were so so worried and maybe a little overprotective, but you were trying to get better, you were working on it, but turns out it was all a lie!! you knew them- you thought you knew them, him- only to watch in horror as one transforms into the other. you loved them and laughed with them and worried and cried for them and for what? why? what was the point? did you just spend the last two years babying your boss? did your oldest friend decide to fuck with you and act like someone else? was it just for fun? did something happen to him- did he do this to himself? how didn’t you notice something was so wrong? were you just a tool to use? part of a game you didn’t even know you were playing? was hyde even real? was any of this real? you still care for both of them, though, whoever, whatever, they are. you still spent all that time together, all those conversations and bonding moments and everything else- surely that meant something, right? some part of you still wants to help. but what the hell are you supposed to do? where do you even start? what do you even say?
