INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 (2013)

A somewhat captivating but ultimately befuddling sequel to a lackluster film. I thought this film had a little bit of charm to it though while still overall being a mid film.

The beginning of this story we see how the dad went through something very similar to what the son went through in the first chapter. After that it is a direct continuation of what happened after Chapter 1. Mama Renai is in a police station trying to explain how a psychic ended up dead in her living room and how her husband, Josh, was momentarily missing… Long enough for Renai to see the photo the psychic took of him/the ghost on her camera. They are living at grandma's house but creepy stuff like the piano playing by itself is still happening. Renai wants to investigate these things further but suspiciously Josh is content leaving things as they lie… Suspicious! 

The son that used to be in a coma has a bad dream that was really just what happened one fucked up night and everyone goes on different journeys. While grandma goes on a quest to find out what is really going on, Renai is being haunted as fuck and Josh is being told by his demons to kill his family. Renai again wants to do something but, again, Josh is deflecting and telling her to relax even. Then they hear the piano playing and he immediately investigates it which he was just telling Renai not to do but it comes out that this version of Josh doesn’t know the song that Renai wrote for Josh back in Chapter 1 so now she is really onto him/knows that this isn’t her Josh. 

The grandma's adventures take her from the dead psychics house to an abandoned hospital she used to work at and then an old house of a patient she had. The poor kid keeps having bad dreams where the dead keep coming for his body (and boy are they ever) while Josh is looking evil as ever and it seems Real/Good Josh is stuck in dreamland. We find out a madman went after their son because his mother made him kill people and also he dressed up in a black wedding dress and veil… (Wack) Okay. They called where the Real Josh was the Further this time which was neat. There was another callback to the first movie where Real Josh in the Further made changes to things in the real world back in time… Wack. Very confusing. But Real Josh meets up with the dead psychic in the Further and they try to figure out where “mother” is hiding. While they are up to all that, Renai and the kids are fighting off Evil Josh who is very evil and pretty spooky! There is even a moment when one of the kids had to take a bat to dear old dad to protect mommy! Wow! The little boy decides to go into the Further to look for his father, what a brave little kid! 

Josh is able to defeat the mother which in turn defeats the child (his possessor) but uh-oh! He cannot find his way out of the Further! Thankfully his son came in to rescue him. Together they make it out of the Further and have the new (living) psychic clear their memories to protect them from astral projecting or having anything fishy happening to them again. Our story ends with the dead psychic still helping the dead try to move on but she encounters something very big and scary that we will just have to wait to see in Chapter 3!

Listen. I’m in the camp of folks that believe Monty destroyed poor Glam Bon BUT. I’m part of the sub-sect that believes he didn’t do it of his own volition

I think Bonnie was supportive of Monty trading places with him as the bassist, but something ended up happening while they were hanging out that neither of them saw the warning signs soon enough to prevent.

The virus in its early throes was still being tinkered with and engineered by Vanny and William’s combined efforts. Little pokes and prods made here and there, ‘glitches’ that would occur. Many unfortunate circumstances occurred during the months that led up to Security Breach (shit, just look at the ‘Moon makes a kid pee themselves’ incident 😭), some worse than others. The duo had to get this thing juuust right so even if any techs or engineers managed to catch onto the nasty bug, the roots would already be planted so deep that their efforts to fix things after the damage was done would be for naught.

The Vanny Virus was playing the waiting game, stalking and observing before it pounced so when it attacked? It would be the most successful it possibly could. For that, it needed to find each animatronic’s weakness. It was parsing out how best to get a chokehold on these weaknesses, as well as how to strengthen its grip after the fact. This time ‘round, it went for Monty specifically. Saw the opportunity after figuring out how close the bunny and the gator were…

The fits of rage he has in Security Breach? He’s lashing out in anger at himself. He wasn’t strong enough in the briefest moment to stop himself from destroying his friend, The Hypest Of Hype Men, the guy who’s been helping him get acclimated to the Glamrock life. And he doesn’t even know why he’d do something like that. He’s angry, and afraid, and confused, and that whirlwind of conflicting feelings is exactly the opportunity the Vanny Virus was looking for. It got him.

@/space-mantis had this genius hc that Monty literally Can Not chill out because that’s how the virus was tailored to target him specifically. Make it so nothing he does to try and alleviate the anger works, gradually ramp it up, up, up until he explodes. And he comes-to way later after his room is already in shambles. Worst thing to wake up to after blacking out, because there’s no telling if it was just the room, or if this time someone was unfortunate enough to get in his way…

Monty was genuinely chill and doing great as a glam, but ah… nothing good lasts forever

Hella playing a couple songs off the Tripper album in 2022. I have a shard from one of Zach Hill's cymbals that broke off and flew through the air and landed at my feet at one of their shows. I worshiped the ground these two guys stood on in the early 2000's. Cool to see them still getting together even though they haven't released anything in over a decade.

Ok does anyone know where to direct me in the direction of Zach Hill’s short films? I know he’s made some and shit but tbh I cannot find them on YouTube. At all. So pls if anyone knows where I can see some of them pls let me know. I watched one in high school but I’ve never been able to find it again :,(.
