I love the "Ryou pining for an oblivious Yugi" brand of Heartshipping a lot, but I think it’s time for me to write my personal favorite spin:
"Space cadet Ryou beginning to realize he likes Yugi and is unsure of how to proceed with those feelings, while Yugi has been EMBARRASSINGLY PINING FOR HIM EVER SINCE HE TRANSFERRED IN AND HAS BEEN DESPERATELY WAITING FOR HIM TO NOTICE"

hot take maybe, but I only truely like prideshipping if it’s heavily unrequited and obsessive on Seto’s end, because of two reasons.
Reason #1. the fact that ignoring romance it’s basically freaking canon. The spirit beat kaiba in a duel and made him experience death by being killed by his favorite game than doesn’t give him a second thought until Mokuba and DeathT( early manga) But kaiba is fixated on this experience for, seemingly months. Obsessed with the only person who’s ever won against him and designing new technology and an entire amusement park attraction in order to kill him. He’s putting innocent bystanders and his own brother in danger in order to humiliate and destroy his seemingly only equal. Than he loses.
in duel monsters Kaiba creates a tournament and enters Yuugi as a top level duelist and monitors his every movement throughout the tournament. As the spirit is losing hope for winning against Slifer and Marik, Kaiba shows up just to tell him that only he’s allowed to win against the pharaoh, and afterwards he straight up tells him that the only thing he wants to do in that moment is duel him. In the finals Kaiba demands that Yuugi put Slifer in his deck in order to have the ultimate battle that he’s deemed worthy against his greatest rival because anything less wouldn’t be worthy of the title of the king of games. The title he never wins
in Dsod Kaiba builds an advanced AI based off Atems personality and strategies but ultimately hates it because it’s not really him. Kaiba collects almost all of the pieces of the millennium Puzzle and builds a ELEVATOR into SPACE( probably costing millions of dollars to build) in order to rebuild the puzzle because he believes that it will bring back Atem. He announces Another tournament in order to get the last missing pieces of the puzzle because he’s desperate for closure against him and Atem. After the puzzle is destroyed he literally breaks the laws of REALITY in order to go to the after life for his closure duel. And it’s left unknown if he ever won against the man who made Kaiba strive to be a better duelist, create new advanced inventions and technology that ultimately make the world a better place all because of Kaiba’s unhealthy relationship with winning and losing.
reason #2. I’m an absolute sucker for unhealthy, obsessive relationships that end in tragedy

You are so real for liking Miho. Watching DM after going through s0 is just me being sad that Honda is kinda uninteresting. Like Miho was such a fun character and her presence really felt like it rounded out the rest of the cast. I was surprised when I found out she was an anime-only character because her involvement just felt so natural in the story.
Honestly Miho is just the centerpiece of a lot of things that made s0 a weirdly good adaption. The writers looked at the charmingly flawed source material and said "What can we fix about this. Okay step one we are giving Jonouchi's miserable background friend a personality and some bitches." And then they proceeded to go absurdly hard abt it. Side characters are more fleshed out. Storylines like Jonouchi's old gang feel more natural. Anzu actually gets screentime where she isn't getting assaulted or swooning over Yugi. Kaiba feels more like a looming threat slowly getting stronger over time. It's definitely not perfect but I think the series greatest stregnth is not needing to be a perfect 1:1 adaption of the manga. And there is no better example of this than the greatest character in the series.

not to post a yugioh take on this, my 25th birthday, but duel monsters never quiet captured the level of chaotic delinquent energy that jonouchi had in season zero & the manga. he is also sort of rough and tumble in the main series, uncouth and abrasive and short-tempered, willing to get physical when he's frustrated and backed into a corner, yet always charming and loyal and a damn good friend. he's a good character in dm, but he's definitely lighter, missing that extra dynamic and a depth behind his temper that tells you he can and will deliver on it.
but, man, something about season zero & the manga really let jou walk that line of 'delinquent with a heart of gold' a lot more closely, and it's good. it's central to how i understand his character, and these are the parts of him that inspire my portrayal the most. he acts like he's only just started to mend his ways, the way he pretty easily slips back into the tendency to settle things with his fists rather than his words. he's so obviously comfortable in a fight, so much so that he shows off, plays around with his opponent, aims to humiliate them in the process of kicking their ass. he has this devilish glint in his eye and when his temper flares, he delivers on his threats. he's cocky and just plain lucky and sometimes - more often than it should - it pays off, but he also does get knocked around a lot. and that feels real to him, too. because if there's one thing katsuya jonouchi knows how to do, it's take a punch and keep standing. he's impulsive - that is something that is so central to jou, always - and he cares so damn much and it gets him into trouble. he's a good kid that does stupid, dangerous things for the right reasons, for the people he wants to protect, but also sometimes just because fighting back is the only way he knows how to survive.
