The airport in São Paulo was buzzing with life as Lando Norris stepped out of the arrivals gate, sunglasses perched on his nose and a baseball cap pulled low. The fans who had caught wind of his flight cheered and waved, but he managed to slip through with practiced ease, his team ensuring he wasn’t overwhelmed. His mind, however, was still half a world away in Mexico, replaying the past few days over and over like a highlight reel he couldn’t stop watching.

Sneaking around with Amelie had been... intoxicating. Dangerous, in a way that left his adrenaline racing even outside the cockpit. Late-night whispers in dimly lit corners, her laugh muffled by her hand as they dodged prying eyes, and the way her lips always found his when no one was watching—all of it had left him buzzing. But now, back in the chaos of race week, he was determined to shove those memories into a box.

Except, of course, for Max Fewtrell.

Lando spotted Max and Pietra Pilão, Max’s Brazilian girlfriend, waiting for him near the car park. Pietra’s arms were crossed, her expression a mix of amusement and exasperation as Max leaned against a car, scrolling through his phone.

—Took your time, didn’t you?— Max called out as Lando approached.

—Yeah, yeah,— Lando replied with a grin, pulling Max into a quick hug before greeting Pietra.

—Welcome to Brazil,— she said warmly, her accent lilting and inviting.

—Thanks, P,— Lando said, smiling. —Hope you’re ready to babysit Max and me all week.—

—Oh, I’m leaving you two alone soon enough,— she teased. —You’re his problem now.—

After a quick round of introductions to Pietra’s parents, who were hosting Max and Lando for dinner that evening, they all piled into the car. The drive to Pietra’s family home was lively, filled with Max recounting stories about his latest sim-racing debacle and Pietra rolling her eyes at his exaggerated commentary.

Later that evening, after a spread of traditional Brazilian dishes and hours of chatter with Pietra’s family, Lando and Max finally found themselves alone. Pietra had gone off to help her mom with something in the kitchen, leaving the two old friends lounging on the patio, sipping beers under the warm glow of string lights.

Lando leaned back in his chair, staring out at the São Paulo skyline. His fingers tapped idly against the side of his bottle.

—You’ve been quiet,— Max said, glancing at him.

Lando shrugged, taking a swig of his beer. —Just tired.—

—Bullshit,— Max shot back, his eyes narrowing. —You’re never quiet unless something’s going on. What happened?—

Lando hesitated, the weight of the past few days pressing against his chest. He and Max had been best mates for years, but this? This was something he hadn’t even processed himself yet.

—Alright,— Lando said finally, setting his beer down. —You have to promise not to say a word. To anyone.—

Max leaned forward, intrigued. —Mate, you know me. What’s going on?—

Lando ran a hand through his hair, letting out a shaky laugh. —I, uh... I’ve been seeing Amelie again.—

Max blinked, stunned into silence for a moment. Then, —Wait... Amelie? As in Amelie Dayman? The one you...—

—Yes,— Lando interrupted quickly. —That Amelie.—

Max’s mouth fell open, but no words came out. He stared at Lando like he’d just confessed to something insane.

—Pick your jaw up, mate,— Lando muttered, though his own nerves were starting to fray under Max’s reaction.

Max finally closed his mouth, shaking his head in disbelief. He leaned back in his chair, letting out a low whistle. —Holy shit, mate. You’re telling me that after, what, nearly two years of not talking, you’re suddenly... back on?—

Lando winced at the phrasing. —It’s not like that. We’re not “back on.” We’re just... you know.— He gestured vaguely, searching for words. —Hanging out. Catching up.—

—Hanging out,— Max repeated, his tone dripping with skepticism. —And by “hanging out,” you mean...?—

—Alright, fine,— Lando admitted, throwing up his hands. —We’ve been shagging. Happy now?—

Max’s laugh erupted, loud enough that Lando had to shush him, glancing nervously toward the house. —Mate, I don’t even know where to start. What the hell happened? I thought you two were done. Like, done-done.—

Lando sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. —We were. Or at least, I thought we were. But then... Mexico happened.—

Max raised an eyebrow. —Mexico happened? What does that even mean?—

Lando let out a breath, leaning forward, his elbows resting on his knees. The string lights above cast a warm glow on his face, but the tension in his expression was unmistakable.

—It means we saw each other again, and things just… spiraled,— Lando said, his voice low, as though even the air around them could betray his secret.

—Spiraled how?— Max pressed, his grin growing as he leaned in closer. —Come on, mate. Spill it.—

Lando groaned, dragging a hand down his face. —Alright, so it was the party after the race in Mexico, right? I was just minding my business, having a good time, when she walked in.—

—Of course she walked in,— Max cut in, laughing. —Checo’s her brother-in-law. It’s not like she was gonna skip it.—

—Yeah, I know, but seeing her… I wasn’t ready for it,— Lando admitted. —It’s been so long since I last saw her. I mean, properly saw her. And she looked... different. Older. More... I don’t know, more Amelie.—

Max rolled his eyes. —Wow, poetic. So what happened? You two just started chatting like nothing ever happened?—

Lando shot him a look. —Not exactly. We ignored each other most of the weekend. Didn’t say a word. It was awkward as hell. But then at the party... we were both drunk, and somehow we ended up talking. One thing led to another, and we were dancing, and then...— He trailed off, gesturing vaguely.

—And then you shagged,— Max finished for him, grinning. —Classic.—

—It’s not like I planned it,— Lando defended, though he could feel the heat rising in his face. —But yeah, we ended up back at my hotel room, and... it just felt like old times. Like nothing had changed. Except everything has changed.—

Max shook his head, leaning back in his chair. —You’re insane, mate. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love Amelie, she’s great. But after everything that happened between you two? I thought you’d sworn off whatever the hell it was you had going on.—

—So did I,— Lando said quietly, staring down at his hands. —But I don’t know, Max. Being with her again, it’s like... I can’t help myself. We just click, you know? Like we always have.—

Max studied him for a moment, his playful grin softening. —Alright, but what does she want? Is this just a casual thing again, or is there... more to it?—

Lando hesitated, his fingers tightening around the neck of his beer bottle. —I don’t know. We haven’t talked about it. Not really. We’re just... seeing where it goes.—

Max let out a low whistle. —Dangerous game you’re playing, mate. You’re both gonna end up hurt again if you’re not careful.—

—Tell me something I don’t already know,— Lando muttered, taking another swig of his beer. —But right now? I don’t care. Being with her… it feels right. Even if it’s just for now.—

Max shook his head, clearly trying to make sense of what Lando had just unloaded on him. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

—Mate, you’re playing with fire,— he said, his tone more serious now. —I mean, I get it. She’s… Amelie. But come on, you two went through hell last time. And it’s not like either of you has a track record of making things simple.—

Lando sighed, setting his beer down on the small table between them. He knew Max was right, but he couldn’t bring himself to think too far ahead.

—I know it’s messy,— he admitted. —But it’s not like I planned for this to happen. I thought I’d moved on. I thought she had too. But then we saw each other again, and it was like... all the walls we put up just crumbled.—

Max stared at him, his expression unreadable. —And you’re okay with this? Sneaking around, keeping it a secret from everyone? You do realize that if anyone catches wind of this, the internet’s gonna explode, right?—

Lando laughed humorlessly. —Yeah, trust me, I’ve thought about that. But honestly? I don’t care. Not right now, anyway. When we’re together, it’s like nothing else matters. It’s easy to forget about all the noise when it’s just us.—

Max raised an eyebrow. —Easy, huh? Until you have to leave Mexico and go back to your lives. Or until one of you decides you’re ready for something real and the other isn’t.—

—Jesus, Max, can you let me enjoy this for five seconds?— Lando snapped, though there wasn’t much heat in his words.

Max chuckled, holding up his hands in mock surrender. —Alright, alright. I’ll shut up. For now.—

They sat in silence for a moment, the faint hum of São Paulo’s nightlife filling the air around them. Lando stared at the skyline, his thoughts a tangle of memories and what-ifs.

—You really like her, don’t you?— Max said finally, breaking the quiet.

Lando didn’t answer right away. He took another sip of his beer, his mind drifting back to the way Amelie had looked at him that last morning in Mexico, her smile soft and teasing as she told him to stop staring.

—Yeah,— he said quietly, almost to himself. —I do.—

Max let out a long sigh, shaking his head. —Well, I guess I can’t blame you. She’s one of a kind, that’s for sure.—

—You’re telling me,— Lando muttered, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Max stood, clapping a hand on Lando’s shoulder. —Alright, lover boy. Let’s get back inside before Pietra starts wondering what we’re up to. Just... try not to screw this up, yeah?—

Lando laughed, though the sound was tinged with nerves. —No promises.—

As they headed back inside, Lando felt a flicker of relief at finally sharing the truth with someone. But it was fleeting, replaced by the heavier weight of uncertainty. Whatever this thing with Amelie was, it wasn’t simple. And deep down, he knew Max was right—sooner or later, they’d have to figure out what they were doing.

But not tonight. Tonight, he just wanted to hold onto the warmth of her laughter echoing in his memory, the ghost of her touch still lingering on his skin. For now, that was enough.

What if TMNT took place in São Paulo, Brazil instead of New York?

Welcome to my Brazilian au, I made this character sheet of Casey Jones, but let's be honest, here she would be named Cássio Jonatas

One of the things that unfortunally had to be changed for this auis that he doesn't play ice hockey (this au takes place in Brazil and since here is a tropical country, it takes a lot of money to keep ice hockey fields running, also, here this is considerated a rich people sport and Cássio isn't a rich guy)

So I changed the sport to Roller Derby cuz it has the same amount of chaos and it's more easy to find here.

New York, New York - in English

I've traveled extensively and visited many places—I'm grateful for that. And there will be many more to come, amen. In 2013, after numerous trips to Europe, I first visited New York. The planning for this trip was unlike anything I'd done before, and I was so excited that I started a travel journal.

This is one of my projects on hold—but not abandoned—that, along with many others, makes me question my competence and causes me deep anxiety. Well, this anxiety is one of the reasons I'm writing here, so somehow, everything must be right.

But beyond the ridiculously slow pace that would require many lifetimes, I'm increasingly disappointed with the most popular social networks. They have transformed into polarized, chaotic marketplaces and no longer serve as spaces for sharing ideas.

The much-discussed algorithms remove authenticity from connections between people and replace it with commercial and, often, political agendas. It's increasingly difficult and necessary to remain neutral and sane, on the famous Middle Path. So today, I don't exactly know the future format of that travel blog project anymore, I just sense that it exists. You see, I have my North Node in Gemini, so it doesn't seem right (although I must confess it is very natural) not to share what I've seen out there.

Well, back to New York, my first day there was just the way I like it, all nicely planned out and perfect. Yes, it has to do with control, but also with a sense of productivity, efficiency, competence - see the anxiety mentioned above. But also after the ASD diagnosis, I really need to be gentler with myself, my brain prefers things this way for a reason. And I also think it's important to leave room for wonderful things to happen, I like flexible plans. It's a paradox, but isn't that what the Middle Path is?

I managed to take a look at Times Square, had time to be shocked by it and feel everything one feels there. I went to a Baseball game (something only possible with planning), almost understood the game, and went to a Harry Potter exhibition. By the way, I was recently in a Harry Potter Exhibition in São Paulo, and although it was the same "brand", I was disappointed with what happened to the world. It became almost entirely interactive and 'instagrammable,' as they say. It wasn't the same as the one I visited in NY, which had a vibe much more like the London studios - which I hadn't been to yet by that time, so I loved the exhibition in NY.

What a timeline I created here, kind of Nolan-esque! And there was still room for wonderful things to happen. The Baseball game was incredibly exciting, everything changed in the last play and I'll never forget it! And I also saw a Spy exhibition that wasn't even in the schedule.

By Friday, all across town—but particularly in the dense and verdant inner loop neighborhoods that radiate from the city’s skyscrapers—Houstonians confronted a cityscape of debris left by winds of up to 100 mph, as strong as some of the hurricanes that have hit the city in recent years. Decades-old oak and pecan trees were ripped in two or knocked over at the roots, flattening fences or blocking roadways. Stop signs leaned at sharp angles. Highway billboards buckled. Residents spoke of horizontal rain and detritus swirling into the air, and wondered whether a tornado had passed through. “It was like we were in the middle of a blender,” said Martha Rosas.

An airstrike kills 20 in central Gaza and fighting rages on (AP) An Israeli airstrike killed 20 people in central Gaza, mostly women and children, and fighting raged across the north on Sunday. The airstrike in Nuseirat, a built-up Palestinian refugee camp in central Gaza dating back to the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, killed 20 people, including eight women and four children, according to hospital records. Palestinians reported more airstrikes and heavy fighting in northern Gaza, which has been largely isolated by Israeli troops for months and where the World Food Program says a famine is underway. The Civil Defense says the strikes hit several homes near Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahiya, killing at least 10 people. DRC army says it stopped attempted coup involving US citizens (Reuters) The leader of an attempted coup on Sunday in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been killed and some 50 people including three American citizens arrested, a spokesman for the Central African country's army told Reuters. The brutal murder of a Congolese man at a Rio de Janeiro beach has cast a harsh spotlight on the ordeals African migrants face in Brazil, the country with the biggest black population outside Africa.

Moise Kabagambe, a 24-year-old migrant who fled to Brazil with his family in 2011 to escape violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, was beaten to death with clubs and a baseball bat at the beach-front bar where he worked in Rio's upscale Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood.

His family says a group of assailants attacked him after he demanded payment of two days' overdue wages.

The January 24 killing has unleashed a flood of outrage, grief and soul-searching in Brazil, where many African migrants say they face poverty, violence and double discrimination as both foreigners and blacks.

Eu já viajei bastante, estive em muitos países, sou grata. E estarei em outros mais, Amém. Mas estive em Nova York a primeira vez em 2013, depois de ter ido várias vezes à Europa e,  empolgada com o planejamento, que era diferente do que eu já tinha feito, comecei um blog de viagens. Esse é um dos projetos em grande pausa, mas não abandonados, e que junto com alguns muitos outros, me causam uma angústia de incompetência. Bem, essa angústia é um dos motivos de eu estar aqui escrevendo, então, de alguma forma, todas as coisas devem estar certas. Por um tempo, eu pensei em transpôr esse blog para o instagram e por alguns anos me dizia que eu estava preparando material para isso colocando (bem) aos poucos minhas fotos antigas no Instagram. Mas além do ritmo que exigirá muitas vidas, eu sigo mais e mais desapontada com as redes sociais mais populares, que se transformaram em grandes mercados loucos polarizados, e hoje já passam longe de um lugar de compartilhamento de ideias. Os falados algoritmos tiram autenticidade da conexão entre as pessoas e, no lugar, colocam interesses comerciais e, muitas vezes, políticos. É cada dia mais difíciil e necessário se manter isento e são, no famoso Caminho do Meio. Então, hoje, eu não sei exatamente o formato do futuro do projeto do blog de viagens mais, mas vejo que ele existe. Veja, eu tenho o Nodo Norte em Gêmeos, então não me parece certo (embora deva confessar que é sim muito natural) não compartilhar o que vi por aí.   Bem, de volta a Nova York, meu primeiro dia lá foi bem do jeito que eu gosto, todo planejadinho, e todo certo. Sim, tem a ver com controle, mas também com uma sensação de produtividade, de eficiência, de competência. Vide a angústia acima. Mas também depois do diagnóstico de TEA, preciso mesmo ser mais gentil comigo, meu cérebro prefere assim por uma razão. E eu acho também importante deixar espaço para que coisas maravilhosas aconteçam, gosto de planos flexíveis. É um paradoxo, mas não o é o Caminho do Meio?Eu consegui dar uma olhada na Times Square, tive tempo de ficar em choque com a Time Square e sentir tudo que se sente ali. Fui num jogo de Baseball (algo possível com o planejamento), quase consegui entender o jogo e fui numa exposição do Harry Potter. Aliás, recentemente, estive em São Paulo, e era a mesma "marca" Harry Potter Exhibition, mas me desapontei com o que aconteceu com o mundo. Ela se tornou quase toda interativa e 'instagramável', como dizem. Não foi a mesma que eu visitei em NY, que tinha uma vibe muito mais na pegada dos estúdios de London mesmo - que eu ainda não tinha ido, então adorei a exposição.  Que linha do tempo criei aqui, uma coisa meio Nolan. E sobrou espaço para coisas maravilhosas aconteceram. O jogo de Baseball foi incrivelmente emocionante, tudo mudou no último lance e eu nunca me esqueci! No último final de semana (15 e 16 de fevereiro), foi realizada a 3ª edição do Torneio “Camelo, mamãe?!”, com a participação de nove times de softbol e de três no Beisebol, modalidade que foi a novidade da edição. A equipe de softbol livre do Tôtoro/Bulldogs foi a grande campeã da categoria e entre os iniciantes o Cooper Ladies ficou com o título.

No softbol, os participantes foram: Gecebs, Atibaia, Tozan, Camelo Iniciante,  São josé Wild Eagles, Universo Tata, Tôtoto/Bulldogs,  Cooper Ladies e BFGV. No beisebol, contou com a presença da Medicina Santos/Poli, Camelo beisebol e do São Paulo.

O torneio teve muitas atrações para todas as idades. A banda Solta o Play animou o pessoal, além do show do Palhaço Pipoco, uma oficina de Costura, Oficia de jogos da Escola Supera e de Cosplayers do Alladin, Homem Aranha e Chun-li. O ponto alto do dia, foi a Palestra da fonoaudióloga Licia Verissimo falando sobre o DPAC (Disturbio do Processamento Auditivo Central).

Projeto “Camelo, mamãe?”

No dia 11 de janeiro de 2013 o blog “Camelo, Mamãe?” foi criado. O objetivo do blog é mostrar a aprendizagem, dificuldades, alegrias, tristezas, euforias e decepções de uma mãe que luta para que o seu filho seja aceito por uma sociedade que dita regras de comportamentos e atitudes.

Cristhiane Akie Higashi é esposa de Herbert Higashi e mãe de Gabriel e Nathalia. Quando Gabriel tinha 6 anos foi diagnosticado com DPAC (Distúrbio do Processamento Auditivo Central). Gabriel fez diversos tipos de terapias e acompanhamentos médicos, melhorou muito, não se curou, mas superou vários obstáculos.

Para ajudar ainda mais seu filho em sua melhora, Cristhiane e Herbert buscaram um esporte onde todos possam jogar, onde todos são tratados da mesma forma, não existe diferenças, fortes laços de amizade e familiar. O esporte escolhido foi o beisebol.

Com o esporte Gabriel conquistou sonhos, venceu desafios e principalmente fez amizades verdadeiras.
