I have been recreating meanings of the runes for my own purposes based on nothing else than original and scholarly sources… and I’d like to propose a case for the ᛉ rune (in addition to ᛒ) to be associated with Frigg/Frig/Frija based on the Anglo-Saxon rune poem.

Elk-sedge keeps its home most often in the swamps,

it grows in the water, and grimly wounds,

it burns the blood of any man who grasps it.

This portion of the poem is something I have yet to see in “modernized” sources. Many say it means Elk based on the Proto-Germanic word of Algiz. But the Anglo-Saxon poem is the oldest that we know of, followed by the Norwegian and Icelandic poems. Or which, they read that this rune actually means “man.”

For me, I rather like the idea of the elk-sedge. Not only does it grow in the marshlands, the fens, it also feels very familiar to the story of the mistletoe.

Naming the runic sigils I made after Pokémon moves and abilities because dopamine and mnemonics

1. Reflect

Protects from negative impacts while sending it back to the original sender.

2. Counter

Like reflect but magnifies the energies when sending it back

3. Light Screen

Protection for a group or family against negative energies

4. Focus Energy

Energy is directed towards achieving a specific goal

5. Growth

Specifically for business success. Provides strength and energy to keep going.

In my drafts I have 3 I’m testing the design for (grassy terrain, payday, and upgrade).

All the sigils made were with the help of runic formulas from the Runic Formula app on Android, not sure if iOS has the same if not similar app but there are runic books out there as well.

I’ve found runes quite more powerful than personal sigils but that could be my own experience. Either way it’s a good thing to keep in you witchy toolkit.

If something that was yours was stolen from you, you can perform this powerful spell to get justice.

Draw the runes on a paper, call upon Norse gods:

Thor, Tyr, Odin, Jormungandr (this is World or Sea Serpent)

Call upon the elements (fire, air, earth, water)

Sprinkle some water on the paper, burn it, scatter the ashes on the wind.

If you know who has taken what was yours, you can draw the runes on this person's photo. Then it should be burned, water poured on the ashes and scattered on the wind.

Keep Us Safe

So, I was looking through some old papers recently, and I ended up stumbling upon the first real sigil that I ever made myself.

I created this Runic Sigil when I was 11 or 12, using the words “Keep Us Safe” as the phrase of desire, and combining the Elder Futhark letters Kaunan, Peorð, Sowilō, and Fehu. When I found it again, I felt inspired to make a digital rendering of it and share it here, even if it’s not the way I go about generating my sigils anymore.

It may be simple, but it served me well when I was a scared child trying to protect myself and my mother from abuse, and I hope that it can help someone else to feel just a little bit safer too.
