Royal Mail plc Financials: An In-Depth Analysis
Royal Mail plc, a historic and vital part of the UK's postal and courier services, continues to play a significant role in the industry. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of Royal Mail's financials, examining key financial indicators, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives that have influenced its financial health. Understanding Royal Mail's financial landscape offers valuable insights into its operational effectiveness and market position.
Revenue and Profitability
Revenue Trends
Royal Mail plc's revenue streams primarily consist of letters, parcels, and international logistics. Over the past few years, the company has faced fluctuating revenues due to changes in consumer behavior and market dynamics. The shift from traditional mail to parcel delivery, driven by e-commerce growth, has significantly impacted revenue composition.
In the most recent fiscal year, Royal Mail reported a total revenue of £12.6 billion, reflecting a slight increase from the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by an uptick in parcel volumes, which offset the decline in letter mail volumes. The company’s focus on expanding its parcel delivery network and enhancing e-commerce logistics capabilities has been a strategic move to capture this growing market segment.
Profitability Analysis
Royal Mail's profitability has been under pressure due to rising operational costs and competitive challenges. The company's operating profit for the latest fiscal year stood at £344 million, representing a decrease compared to the previous year. This decline was attributed to increased labor costs, higher transportation expenses, and investments in infrastructure.
Despite these challenges, Royal Mail has implemented several cost-saving initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational costs. These measures include optimizing delivery routes, investing in automation, and streamlining administrative processes. The company's commitment to operational efficiency is expected to enhance profitability in the long term.
Cash Flow and Capital Expenditure
Cash Flow Management
Effective cash flow management is critical for Royal Mail's financial stability and ability to invest in growth initiatives. The company reported net cash inflow from operating activities of £823 million in the latest fiscal year, reflecting robust cash generation capabilities. This strong cash flow performance provides the company with the financial flexibility to fund strategic investments and manage debt obligations.
Capital Expenditure
Royal Mail has made significant investments in its infrastructure and technology to support its strategic objectives. In the most recent fiscal year, the company allocated £493 million towards capital expenditure, focusing on areas such as parcel sorting automation, IT systems, and fleet modernization. These investments are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving service quality, and supporting future growth.
Debt and Liquidity
Debt Profile
Royal Mail's debt management strategy focuses on maintaining a balanced capital structure and ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet financial obligations. As of the latest fiscal year-end, the company reported total debt of £1.1 billion, consisting primarily of long-term borrowings. The company’s debt-to-equity ratio remained stable, reflecting a prudent approach to leveraging.
Liquidity Position
Maintaining adequate liquidity is crucial for Royal Mail to navigate market uncertainties and invest in growth opportunities. The company reported cash and cash equivalents of £673 million at the end of the latest fiscal year, providing a strong liquidity buffer. Additionally, Royal Mail has access to undrawn credit facilities, further enhancing its financial flexibility.
Dividend Policy
Royal Mail plc has a consistent track record of returning value to shareholders through dividends. The company’s dividend policy aims to provide a sustainable and attractive return, balanced with the need to reinvest in the business. For the latest fiscal year, Royal Mail declared a dividend of 20 pence per share, reflecting its commitment to shareholder returns despite challenging market conditions.
Strategic Initiatives and Future Outlook
E-commerce and Parcel Growth
One of Royal Mail's key strategic priorities is to capitalize on the growth of e-commerce and the increasing demand for parcel delivery services. The company has invested heavily in expanding its parcel sorting capacity, enhancing last-mile delivery capabilities, and developing innovative delivery solutions. These efforts are expected to drive revenue growth and improve market competitiveness.
Sustainability and Innovation
Royal Mail is also focused on sustainability and innovation as core components of its long-term strategy. The company has set ambitious targets to reduce its carbon footprint, including transitioning to electric vehicles, optimizing delivery routes, and investing in renewable energy. Additionally, Royal Mail is exploring new technologies, such as drone deliveries and advanced data analytics, to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.
Conclusion
Royal Mail plc's financial performance reflects a company navigating a dynamic and challenging market environment. Through strategic investments, cost-saving initiatives, and a focus on growth areas like e-commerce, Royal Mail is positioning itself for future success. By understanding its financials, stakeholders can appreciate the company’s resilience and strategic direction.

Hey! It's the mod here. I know it's been a while, so I wanted to make an update post regarding the unannounced hiatus I've been on.
As you may have guessed, based on the (aside from reblogging my ask for help from my main), I got a bit of burnout with this blog. I've been wanting to start it back up again for a while, and I've been plotting out a bit of plot for a while so I'm not just making this all up as I go along and can keep track of things lol. Now, while this is fun and all, there are some things I want to address.
Firstly, as some of you may know, this blog started because Levi's mod and I were going back and forth with a prince donnie idea, initially to help him sleep, in fact. As you can tell, it spun up into this blog and an entire universe of its own. Unfortunately, Levi's mod and I had a falling out. For those of you that do follow my main, back in August, there was a debacle from me freaking out over something and some confusion over who I was upset with, leading to a chain of hate mail that has continued to the point that I'm even less sure of my identity and self-worth than before. Levi's mod contacted me via DMs to talk about the situation, but never responded after I did. To my knowledge, at least as far as Tumblr is showing me when I look at old asks on this blog, their blog has since deactivated. I'm unsure if they have received harassment or anything on my behalf from this entire situation, but if that occurred, I do not condone it and I am ashamed of those of you that partook in that. In light of these developments, unless I am contacted by Levi's mod either directly or through a mutual contact, I will be leaving their contributions to this au and the origins intact out of respect. If he wishes to no longer be included in this au, he knows where to contact me, and I will overhaul as necessary and restart the blog to do so.
Secondly, as things have been somewhat bogged down as of late, for the sake of plot, I may timeskip to when everyone has been safely returned home to their universe. Before doing this, I will consult with the lovely mod that was assisting with the pizzaplex crossover arc before doing so to see what course of action I should take. If I do timeskip, I will answer the ask that Pride's mod has sent me to tie up a little bit of Michaelangelo and Ali's adventure into the canon Rise universe, and then proceed with the timeskip.
As of right now, anon will be remaining off to avoid further hate mail, insults, and threats to my life and safety, along with attempts at doxxing me in my own inbox. If there are questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to send in an ask, and I will respond as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience with this long wait, and I'm excited to continue the story of this blog, as I have a lot in store!

Good morning Aye, or afternoon maybe?
Could you explain what the Post Office scandal is about?
Howdy! Sure thing. The Post Office scandal is probably one of the biggest contemporary miscarriages of justice in the UK. To the point where calling it a 'scandal' actually minimises how terrible it is.
To be absolutely clear, the pressure and stress the victims of the 'scandal' had to deal with is linked with 4 suicides. An innocent young mum was jailed while she was pregnant with her second child. Countless others sent to prison or left financially ruined. Marriages and families were destroyed.
To start with, what is a Post Office? Some people might be under the impression that Post Offices in the UK are ran by the Royal Mail. They are not.
The Post Office is a retail company. Most Post Offices are run by franchise owners (In the same way, people can run a franchise of McDonalds). These people are referred to as 'Sub-postmasters'. The scandal saw over 700 sub-postmasters convicted of a number of financial misconduct crimes - straight up theft, fraud, providing false accounts.
The cause of all of this was a SOFTWARE ERROR.
The Post Office's Horizon system was had a fault which reported false shortfalls of money. The Post Office claimed the system was robust, and they went after these people.
The reason why people are talking about it more now is that ITV released a dramatisation of it at the start of the year. Hopefully it leads to convictions being overturned.

Beloved, Daniel… wake up. I have wonderful news to share with you… is it another ‘scam’, you ask? No, my love, it came through the electronic mail with shocking sincerity, even a congratulations. It seems a royal fellow from the country of Nigeria has blessed us with a hefty cash prize… one million dollars, to be particular. We must send him a measly deposit of $10,000 to receive the splendor of a gift!!! He has asked for information on your financial credentials. Yes, I have messaged him back, telling him that I will inform you! Beloved, have I upset you? Daniel? No, you CANNOT go back to sleep, he is waiting! Daniel—

What do you think about the settlement? I'm glad Harry got an apology for himself and Diana, but I think the push from Murdock to settle, demonstrated that he had a real case and getting access to messages between Murdock's news groups and the royal family communication houses would've been interesting for the public, and Harry to see, no?
All Harry wanted was an admission of guilt and an apology. That's what he wanted when he won his last suit, and that's what Meghan wanted when she won her suit against the Mail. Neither of them got it. They only got the financial settlement, which wasn't their main priority. So I think they realized that if they could get exactly what he wanted without the risk of losing the case, it was better to take the settlement. Don't forget that Harry wasn't suing Murdoch for a financial settlement. He just wanted an admission of guilt, and he got it. Now that they publicly admitted their guilt, the case can be passed on to the police where they can open a criminal investigation. This isn't over yet. This wasn't just a huge win for Harry, it is also a huge win for everyone involved in the phone hacking, including William and Kate, who will no doubt want to see the people responsible persecuted.

While enslaved people were mostly overseas, in colonies, out of sight, slavery funded British wealth and institutions from the Bank of England to the Royal Mail. The extent to which modern Britain was shaped by the profits of the transatlantic slave economy was made even clearer with the launch in 2013 of the Legacies of British Slave-ownership project at University College London. It digitised the records of tens of thousands of people who claimed compensation from the government when colonial slavery was abolished in 1833, making it far easier to see how the wealth created by slavery spread throughout Britain after abolition. “Slave-ownership,” the researchers concluded, “permeated the British elites of the early 19th century and helped form the elites of the 20th century.” (Among others, it showed that David Cameron’s ancestors, and the founders of the Greene King pub chain, had enslaved people.)
But as Bell-Romero would write in his report on Caius, “the legacies of enslavement encompassed far more than the ownership of plantations and investments in the slave trade”. Scholars undertaking this kind of archival research typically look at the myriad ways in which individuals linked to an institution might have profited from slavery – ranging from direct involvement in the trade of enslaved people or the goods they produced, to one-step-removed financial interests such as holding shares in slave-trading entities such as the South Sea or East India Companies.
Bronwen Everill, an expert in the history of slavery and a fellow at Caius, points out “how widespread and mundane all of this was”. Mapping these connections, she says, simply “makes it much harder to hold the belief that Britain suddenly rose to power through its innate qualities; actually, this great wealth is linked to a very specific moment of wealth creation through the dramatic exploitation of African labour.”
This academic interest in forensically quantifying British institutions’ involvement in slavery has been steadily growing for several decades. But in recent years, this has been accompanied by calls for Britain to re-evaluate its imperial history, starting with the Rhodes Must Fall campaign in 2015. The Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 turbo-charged the debate, and in response, more institutions in the UK commissioned research on their historic links to slavery – including the Bank of England, Lloyd’s, the National Trust, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Guardian.
But as public interest in exploring and quantifying Britain’s historic links to slavery exploded in 2020, so too did a conservative backlash against “wokery”. Critics argue that the whole enterprise of examining historic links to slavery is an exercise in denigrating Britain and seeking out evidence for a foregone conclusion. Debate quickly ceases to be about the research itself – and becomes a proxy for questions of national pride. “What seems to make people really angry is the suggestion of change [in response to this sort of research], or the removal of specific things – statues, names – which is taken as a suggestion that people today should be guilty,” said Natalie Zacek, an academic at the University of Manchester who is writing a book on English universities and slavery. “I’ve never quite gotten to the bottom of that – no one is saying you, today, are a terrible person because you’re white. We’re simply saying there is another story here.”

Interesting how none of the UK media was at The Royal Marsden, an NHS facility.
Kate completely ditched the royal rota, and they weren't notified of her engagement until she was leaving the hospital.
Instead, only Chris Jackson and Andrew Parsons were on hand to record the event.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will & Kate already have an in-house photographer and videographer on the payroll.
This approach is also in part due to the unedifying and, at times, downright cruel social media and public commentary around her illness in the first half of last year when, in the words of one insider, 'the world just went mad’. It upset – and angered – the couple more than many realise.  And it has made them even more determined to continue to tell 'their story on their own terms’. As a result, they have massively beefed up their own media team, employing in-house videographers and photographers and working with freelance filmmakers such as Will Warr (who shot the much- talked-about family video released in September).
Looks like KP is in the progress of eliminating the rota, just like Meghan & Harry wanted five years ago.
Many will empathise with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to take tighter control of media relations and no longer deal with the tabloid press, but from a PR perspective it is likely to only ‘fan the flames’. Judging by the raging front pages across the red tops today, it seems Harry and Meghan’s desire to dim the spotlight on their private lives could be doomed to failure. Yesterday, the couple publicly announced they want to step away from "senior" royal duties and become more financially independent. They stated they would like to "balance" their time between the UK and North America, having recently returned from a long trip to Canada. They also want to take far greater control of media relations, which includes engaging with "grassroots media organisations and young, up-and-coming journalists", providing access only to "credible media outlets focused on objective reporting". A key part of their new media approach is no longer participating in the 'royal rota' – which provides exclusive access to members of the royal family to The Daily Express, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Times and The Sun. In a pointed criticism of the royal rota, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated: "Regrettably, stories that may have been filed accurately by royal correspondents are, also, often edited or rewritten by media editorial teams to present false impressions", which are then amplified by media outlets across the world. The pair also took a swipe at the four tabloids, which they said often published photos and information "simultaneously or in advance of their own release". "This formula enables these select publications to profit by publishing these images on their websites/front pages. Any breach in this understanding creates long-term repercussions," the statement read. More content will be shared directly through the pair’s social media feeds. But is taking such a radical approach to media relations wise for one of the most high-profile couples in the world? In a snap PRWeek poll this morning, 44 per cent of Twitter followers thought it was a good move, 30 per cent believed it was ill-advised and the rest say time will tell.
[...] "This media strategy is straight out of Hollywood, where publicists hold all the power. Celebrities only talk to ‘friendly’ journalists and, more often than not, have total copy and image approval. That is absolutely not a ‘free and open media industry’. Harry and Meghan’s objectives may be understandable – even admirable – but the way they’re going about this is a lesson in how to alienate the public (not to mention Harry’s entire family). They’ve disrespected the very institution that gives them their fame and their platform – and Royalists won’t forget (or forgive) that." Rob Lester, managing director, ThreeSixty
Was this visit by Kate just a one-off in excluding the royal rota? Will we see this repeated IF Kate does any in-person events in the future? Or was this Kate's last in-person engagement for a lengthy period of time, and she's just going to use the KP in-house media-recording team from here on out?
Interesting in that the media was not alerted until Kate was leaving the hospital, yet the hospital looked completely prepared with a group of people for Kate to talk with while being on camera.

Nicholas Shakespeare’s elegant biography of the James Bond author Ian Fleming takes its subtitle from a journalist’s observation, quoted halfway through, that its subject was “for a moment of time, a complete man” while working for British naval intelligence in the second world war. Yet you can’t help read it as a promise to give the reader what was left out of previous biographies such as John Pearson’s crisp, more portable authorised life from 1966. And is there a claim, too, for the alpha male credentials of the man called “Flemingway” by his friend Noël Coward? Journalist, stockbroker, thriller writer and – like his famous creation – a playboy and 70-a-day smoker, who died of a heart attack in 1964 at the age of 56 after a plagiarism row over the origins of Thunderball, the ninth Bond novel.
After a dutiful account of how Fleming’s Scottish financier grandfather became a millionaire – later cutting Fleming and his brothers out of his will – Shakespeare gets going with his subject’s troubled boyhood in the shadow of his father’s death in the first world war. Family friends in Switzerland take his education in hand after hasty exits from Eton (hanky-panky with a woman) and Sandhurst (gonorrhoea). His exams aren’t good enough for the Foreign Office; an engagement to a Swiss lover ends amid maternal threats to cut off his allowance. He falls on his feet at Reuters – it was that kind of life – further honing his knack for a scoop at the Sunday Times, a handy source of contacts for his war work.
Testimony woven from diaries, papers and interviews gives the book a flavour of oral history. Shakespeare goes to great lengths – not least tracking down a 94-year-old veteran, the last surviving member of a covert commando unit that Fleming organised – to dispel the idea that Fleming’s service, occluded by state-sanctioned secrecy, was just “in-trays, out-trays and ashtrays”. The book’s first half puts the future author at the heart of military and journalistic history – a search for German weapons of mass destruction; the race to get an inside scoop on the Cambridge spies – as well as the bedroom shenanigans of the English well-to-do. (Shakespeare, who encourages us at one point to smile at the mention of a “germanely” named Nazi admiral, Assmann, shows his assumptions of his audience when he writes confidently of “that small, turn-of-the-century intellectual clique, the Souls”.)
Fleming may be “the man behind James Bond”, in the subtitle of Andrew Lycett’s 1995 biography, but Shakespeare’s project, you sense, is partly to say there’s more to him. Eager to prove Fleming’s interest beyond the reasons that will draw most of his readers to the book, he is almost comically insistent on the degree to which his subject was ahead of the curve. Not only might he have sparked the idea of creating the CIA – in a memo written when the US-UK special relationship was being forged – but he also came up with the idea of putting a Christmas tree from Oslo in Trafalgar Square.
As for the dozen Bond novels that poured out of Fleming after 1953’s Casino Royale – written in a month in his winter bolthole in Jamaica a year earlier – they were, in Shakespeare’s telling, essentially the literary expression of a midlife crisis accelerated by the encroachments of fatherhood and a faithless union as the third husband of Ann Charteris. They had got together with an affair that caused a high-society scandal during her previous marriage to the Daily Mail heir Esmond Harmsworth; she later cheated on Fleming with the Labour leader Hugh Gaitskell, who told him that the “sex, violence, alcohol” formula of the Bond novels was “to one who leads such a circumscribed life as I do, irresistible”.
Fleming, injecting the American dirt of Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer novels into the English thriller, launched 007 on what Shakespeare calls the “spam-munching gloom of Attlee’s Britain”, writing (Fleming told his publisher) in order to make “as much money... as possible” and to have “as much fun as I personally can”. Respectable sales rocketed when JFK took a shine to From Russia, with Love – and the movies were yet to come. While Fleming was self-deprecating – telling Raymond Chandler the Bond novels were “straight pillow fantasies of the bang-bang, kiss-kiss variety” – he was proud enough to greet the director of the first Bond movie, Dr No, by telling him: “So they’ve decided on you to fuck up my work.”
“Luck had to be accepted with a shrug or taken advantage of up to the hilt,” Bond thinks in Casino Royale; he sees luck “as a woman, to be softly wooed or brutally ravaged, never pandered to or pursued”. Squint enough and Fleming took some care to cast his main character in ironic light. Early in that novel, the reader gets a fly-on-the-wall thrill of watching fieldwork in action, with the scene of theatrical care Bond takes to ensure his hotel room isn’t being searched; but soon enough his French sidekick turns up to let Bond know his upstairs neighbours have been listening in to his every move.
In Shakespeare’s biography, the novels are mostly a source of supporting quotation – he doesn’t get bogged down in questions of what it means to read Bond now, confining himself to a remark on how his “cavalier treatment of women... carried the sexual climate of the Blitz into the austerity of the cold war, and was less modern perhaps than it was later cracked up to be”. And perhaps there’s no need for his defenders to overstate the case for Fleming’s novelistic subtlety. Bond has always been shaped by a collective amnesia that allows us to make him what we wish him to be at any given moment; when he parachuted into the Olympic opening ceremony with the queen, it was as the best of British, not as a connoisseur of (Fleming’s words) “the sweet tang of rape”.
The novels, in a way, are irrelevant to 007, but the course of history would surely have run otherwise had Fleming not had the foresight to change his protagonist’s name from the original “James Secretan” – Fleming’s typescript revision perhaps his most significant literary act.

Meghan and Harry only interested in charity to line their pockets by u/EleFacCafele
Meghan and Harry only interested in charity to line their pockets A Sussex insider has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle only do charity work to help themselves financially, while the Duchess of Sussex is uncomfortable meeting the public.Harry is set to receive the prestigious Pat Tillman Award for Service – named in honour of a late NFL player and soldier - at the televised ESPYS on Thursday in recognition of his signature Invictus Games foundation for wounded veterans. However, the nod has drawn the ire of Tillman’s own mother Mary, who said the award deserved to go to a more worthy recipient.“I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” she told British newspaper the Daily Mail last week.Harry's latest award is named in honour of late NFL player and war veteran Pat Tillman. Picture: Plus via Williamson Stealth Media Solutions.Royal biographer and frequent Sussex critic Angela Levin has joined the calls for broadcaster ESPN to rescind the honour and claimed the former working royals are primarily motivated by money, with Meghan in particular finding interaction with the public “awkward”."Unfortunately, Harry and Meghan do everything that will help them and get them money,” she told GB News on Tuesday.“They're fantastically interested in money and not people.”Harry and Meghan have also set up their Archewell charitable foundation, but tax filings released last year revealed the couple spend just a few working hours a week on their charity.Ms Levin, who worked with the Duke of Sussex on a biography prior to his marriage to Markle in 2018, claimed the Prince’s priorities had changed since marrying Meghan and moving to the United States.  "Harry, when I went around with him and I was doing his biography, he was marvellous with ex-military people,” she said."(He was) wonderful but Meghan is very awkward, she's not used to talking to people and I don't think she wants to. So I think that's very difficult.”https://ift.tt/MD86rQs post link: https://ift.tt/u9pbZFL author: EleFacCafele submitted: July 09, 2024 at 08:24AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. royal mail is hiking prices again, at the same time it's parent company is asking shareholders to raise the CEO's maximum take home pay to over £3 million. last November, ofcom fined royal mail £5.6 million for missing delivery targets for the whole of the 2022-23 financial year. this is what happens when parts of the economy are run for the benefit of private owners. them and their lackeys extract as much cash as possible from us while delivering the minimum service they can get away with. capitalism's day has passed. onwards to social ownership of the economy

UK government approves Royal Mail takeover
The British Labour government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer approved the takeover of UK postal service Royal Mail by Czech oligarch Daniel Křetínský.
The Financial Times reported the £5.3bn (€6.4bn) sale on Monday, 16 December, citing people familiar with the matter.
As part of the final deal, the UK government will retain a so-called ‘golden share’ in the postal service giving it special rights over the governance of the company.
The authorisation should also entail a number of obligations, such as retaining Royal Mail UK’s headquarters, recognising the employees’ union and complying with “the obligation to deliver mail everywhere in the UK at the same cost.”
Křetínský’s EP Group sealed the deal to buy International Distribution Services (IDS), Royal Mail’s owner, after its improved offer was recommended by the company’s board in May. Křetínský already controls a 27.5% stake in IDS, which also owns Dutch parcel delivery business GLS.
In addition to his past contacts with Gazprom and senior Russian business figures, Křetínský has also been criticised by environmental and energy analysts in Central Europe for his carbon footprint.
Royal Mail, which has existed for more than 500 years, faces scrutiny over its future shape and operations in a world dominated by the e-commerce services of global technology giants. The company employs more than 160,000 people and has recently been rocked by industrial action.

King’s Study, Cordonian Palace
It was late into the evening as Liam opened the financial report for Portavira on his computer. Taking note that Duke Ebrim was requesting a sizeable amount of emergency funds for the coastal region in the form of stipends.
Opening his e-mail to respond, a knock on his study door got his attention.
“Come.” Liam called out and continued typing, not taking his focus off the screen.
“Hey, Li. Am I interrupting?” Drake asked hesitantly.
Without looking up, Liam answered, “Drake, hey...what brings you here tonight?”
“Well, I need your advice on something.”
Closing his laptop, Liam stood up and walked to his bar cart, picking up two glasses and a bottle of Macallan.
Liam chuckled, “Why do I think this has something to do with a certain blond in your life?”
“Yeah, well...”
Pouring two glasses of scotch, Liam slid one to Drake and sat back down, taking a sip.
“Delaney wants to visit her parents in Austin....and she wants me to go with her.”
Drake exhaled a breath and Liam grinned.
“So, what’s the problem, Drake? Nervous about meeting your future in-laws?”
Drake shot his friend a look, and Liam roared in laughter.
“Seriously, Drake? This is not a problem, buddy!”
“Yeah, well...the thing is, her parents are pressuring her to move back home to the States. Laney is seriously considering it.”
Shaking his head, “Laney wants me to move back with her.”
Liam looked at his friend, noting the conflict in his expression.
“I don’t want to lose her, Li. I also don’t want to leave Cordonia.”
Queen’s Study, Monterissian Palace
“Geoffrey, do you have the video footage of the arrest from last night taken outside the palace?”
Amalas spoke to her guard through the speakerphone on her desk.
“Not at this time, your majesty. Interpol has not uploaded the file yet to our systems.”
“Wait a second. Pause and rewind...what did you just say?” Leo asked incredulously.
“Your majesty?” Geoffrey asked questionably.
“Leo, its protocol that the Interpol inspectors have access to all palace systems ahead of my Royal guard.” Amalas answered.
“Access, yes, but to commandeer all viewing?” Leo challenged.
“Thank you, Geoffrey, that will be all at this time.” Amalas tapped the app closed and spun around her chair, glaring at Leo.
“What the hell, Ams? You are taking orders from some ‘suit’ in Lyon, France? ….Why?”
“First of all, I don’t care for your tone. Do. Not. Speak. To. Me. Like I don’t run this country! Especially in front of my people.” Amalas countered angrily.
Leo sat back in his chair and closed his eyes. It was a challenge for the former Crown Prince to remember not to interject his personal opinions into conversations with the Monterissian Royal guard.
Amalas is the Queen, and he was overstepping.
“Secondly, I appreciate the expertise and assistance of Interpol.”
Leo sighed, shaking his head in disbelief. “I am surprised, to say the least. The ‘Spy Queen’ needing help in her own country.”
“And thirdly,” Amalas stood and frowned at Leo. “I am respecting the King of Cordonia’s request for a united front to uncover the truth behind the duplicity of the Royal guard in our countries.”
“Leo, we need to ‘cut the head off’ of this faction. There is someone or something controlling and directing operatives, like Bastien in Cordonia, that has infiltrated our highest security levels in the Royal guard of our countries.”
“Case in point: how a known fugitive can gain access to my private chambers, can pass through my security protocols. Allowed access to the Crown Princess of visiting monarchs, no less.”
“I get it Ams, I really do. ….and I am truly sorry.” Leo sighed and shook his head.
Amalas stood and walked over to Leo. Taking his face in her hands, she kissed his lips sweetly and touched her forehead to his.
Clearing his throat, Geoffrey stood outside the open door and waited to make his presence known.
“Your majesty.”
Amalas turned to look at her head guard. “Yes, Geoffrey?”
“Interpol has successfully captured and detained the security breach.”
Cordonian Palace
It was shortly after 1 am when Liam returned to the south wing of the palace. Loosening his tie, he nodded at Mara as she stood guard outside of Eleanor’s chambers and continued to walk to his personal chamber he shared with Riley.
After preparing for bed, he opened the veranda door and stepped out into the cool night air. Looking out over the gardens, he took a deep breath and smiled. Tomorrow, he and Riley would find out the sex of their twin babies. He grinned thinking about all the possibilities, but if he was being truly honest with himself, he favored having a son. Or...he chuckled, maybe another Ellie.
Shaking his head, he decided to turn in for the night to get some sleep considering the day would bring much excitement for him and his family.
Approaching his side of the king-sized bed, he noticed that Riley’s side of the bed was slept in, but Riley was not in bed.
Liam went to his closet and slid on a pair of sweatpants. After stepping into the hallway, he returned down the hall towards Ellie’s chambers. He quietly opened her bedroom door and entered the darkened room. Beside her canopy bed, the single night light glowed, and he saw his daughter's outline. Wrapped snugly and securely in her mother’s arms, she was fast asleep along with Riley.
As he placed a soft kiss on Ellie’s forehead, Riley awoke and smiled. “Hi”, Riley whispered and touched his hand. After carefully detaching her arms from her daughter, she rose from bed to join her husband in their bedroom.
Liam closed the door behind him, after following Riley.
Joining his wife under the silk sheets, he wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him.
“That’s better,” nuzzling her neck.
Smiling, Riley ran her fingers through his soft hair. “Working late tonight?”
“Yes, and no... Drake came to see me tonight.”
“Oh really, and here I thought you were avoiding me,” Riley smirked.
“Never!” Liam playfully teased.
“So, what was so important for Drake to pay such a late visit?"
“AHHHH, well...he wanted my advice. Drake is debating whether he should a, stay in Cordonia; or b, move to Delaney's home in Texas. And c, where he should go with his relationship with Delaney.”
Riley looked at her husband, “I know what you said.”
“I know you do, love,” kissing Riley’s nose.
“Home is where your love of your life is. I asked him what his true feelings were for Delaney. Once he can honestly answer that question, he will have his answer.”
Monterrisian Palace
The temperature in the Monterrisian palace holding cell area was at least 10 degrees cooler in the lower-level security offices. Amalas and Leo followed the Interpol officers and were shown to the viewing privacy window. Amalas was accustomed to the temperature change, but Leo had shivers go down his spine; from the temperature change, or nerves, or both.
On the other side of that window, Lena Rys was sitting in a chair alongside a female Royal guard. On the other side of the table sat Alex Cossoy and Olivia Nevrakis.
Amalas listened intently to the questioning, while Leo stared at the blond woman. Shock, mixed with disbelief left him speechless.
“What is your end game?” Olivia asked impatiently
“My end game is to take my place in the Rys family,” Lena coolly answered.
Olivia eyed Lena in disdain.
“My mother told me that my father wanted to hide me from my half-brother. That the ‘Cordonian royal family can’t find out who I really am... for my sake’.”
“’That’s horrible’,” Olivia sighed.
“’I didn’t want to believe those things about my family, but my mother had never lied to me’.”
"Your mother?"
"Yes, Sigrid took care of me in place of my true mother."
“You were brainwashed, she was obviously lying to you!” Olivia seethed.
“’I saw what Cordonia’s royal family really thinks of me when King Constantine came to Vallenheim for a diplomatic visit’.”
“’King Constantine told my mother that he wanted no part in foreign influences on Cordonia. He said that Queen Eleanor is gone. Which is why he wanted nothing to do with me. That Eleanor was her friend, but that association ended when Eleanor died. He does not owe us anything’.”
“My mother wanted me to meet my brothers, but Constantine said ‘he won’t be guilted with a child.’
I remember that my mother begged Constantine to meet me, and Constantine said no. 'My sons and I want nothing to do with me, my mother, Vallenheim, or any of our people!’”
My mother told me, 'This is exactly why Queen Eleanor wanted me kept away from Cordonia.’"
Lena’s eyes 'welled with tears that are equal parts anger and sadness.'
“In that moment, I knew everything my mother had said about my father and brothers was true.”
“Sometimes memories can be the worst form of torture.”
Olivia stood up and paced the floor. Stopping directly in front of Lena,
“’Liam didn’t even know about you. Your brother is a better man than your father was.’”
“’I always resented Leo and Liam for having the life I could’ve had in Cordonia. I’ll even admit to envying Liam’s throne.’”
“’He’s a lot more than you were told. You might even like him if you gave him half a chance.’”
Lena’s features hardened, “’I think that ship sailed a while ago.’”

Dr Rameriz’s office, Cordonia
Looking at her reflection in the changing room, Riley placed her hands on her tummy. Her belly had grown so quickly this time around. Her morning sickness was now gone, and she felt more energized.
Slipping on the hospital gowni and robe, she opened the door to be greeted by the nurse.
“Your majesty”, the nurse curtsied and opened the door to the examination room.
Liam quickly stood offering his wife his hand.
“Are you ready for this, my love?”
“Oh Yes, Liam! Let’s do this!
Chuckling, he helped Riley get comfortable on the exam table, as the nurse placed a heated thermal blanket over top. Grasping his hand, she laid back and relaxed against the pillow.
Dr. Ramirez greeted the monarchs with a warm smile.
“Okay, today we are going to find out which sexes these little ones are.”
“Most definitely,” Liam smiled, squeezing Riley’s hand as she also smiled.
The doctor placed the doppler wand and the sound of heartbeats immediately could be heard.
“I will never tire from hearing those sounds.” Liam watched the monitor as the babies appeared.
Riley let out a breath and started to tear, squeezing Liam’s hand even more.
“So, what do you think, love?” Liam asked.
Riley grinned, “It’s a boy.”
The doctor nodded, “incredibly good instincts. Your majesties, you have a son.”
Liam beamed with joy and kissed his wife.
“...and baby number two?”
“A boy,” Riley answered.
The doctor shook her head smiling.
‘Your wife’s instincts are quite correct. Your children are both boys.”
Liam let out a breath.
Riley, now crying, was overcome with emotion.
“Riley, love,” Liam whispered, raising her hand, and softly kissed her palm.
“Yeah?”
“You did it again.”
Riley looked up at Liam with a question in her eyes.
Caressing her swollen tummy, “You made another dream come true for me. I love you so, so much.”
Riley, full of emotion, answered back, “as do I.”
Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her lips and said, “let’s go home.”
Liam and Riley walked slowly out of the hospital, holding hands, both smiling as they approached the waiting SUV.
“We should spend the weekend in Valtoria.’ Liam smiled.
“I would love that, and I know that Ellie will be ecstatic to go to the festival in town.”
Liam grinned as he followed Riley into the SUV.
Not mentioning that he and Ellie have a special Mother’s Day celebration planned at the estate already for her.

Timeline: Part 7 - October 2017
For earlier timeline posts: click here or here.
There are three installments of the "Meghan's PR Timeline" today, which will see us finish out 2017: October 2017, November 2017, and December 2017.
One particularly interesting observation about this period of time is that from mid-October to mid-November, there are actually whole days without a single item or piece about Meghan. It's very strange because from about the end of April 2017 to the end of September 2017, we were being bombarded DAILY by stories about Meghan.
Is the missing coverage because those pages, stories, and articles were scrubbed in 2018/2019 when Meghan's PR was cleaning up her image?
Did Meghan finally get the ring in early October and no longer needed her PR to pressure Harry and force him to propose?
Or is it the quiet before the storm (i.e., the engagement announcement)? Meghan decided to drop coverage to get more bang when the engagement was announced?
10/1/2017: Toronto Invictus Games Closing Ceremony. Meghan, Doria, Jess, and Markus arrive early and are in a box. Meghan arrives first and is caught directing photographers where to go and what angles to use. Harry arrives later. Meghan leaks that Harry and Doria met at the closing ceremony and they get along fabulously.
(For additional context timeline-wise: 10/1/17 is the Route 19 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas)
10/2/2017: Harry returns to London via Heathrow Airport and it's listed in the Court Circular. Meghan teases an engagement to E News and says that her friends have become Harry's family.
10/3/2017: Meghan merches her shoes from a September 2017 papwalk. She also tells Elle Magazine that she and Harry are unofficially engaged, and everyone knows.
10/4/2017: Meghan modernizes the monarchy if she marries Harry. Charles is in Malta.
10/5/2017: Ronan Farrow's Weinstein expose is published by The New York Times. Meghan merches her Invictus Games clothing - Opening Ceremony Outfit, Closing Ceremony Coat.
10/6/2017: Carole Middleton and Doria Ragland are the same.
10/7/2017: Charles's letter to Tony Blair about the hunting ban is published.
October 7th is the first day with no Meghan stories or Harkle coverage since early summer.
10/8/2017: Meghan has moved to London and is being driven by a royal chauffeur.
10/9/2017: Harry's ex Cressida makes the news for being connected to Harvey Weinstein. Jess Mulroney sources an "all about Meghan's bestie, Jess" story.
10/10/2017: Meghan's PR takes a dig at William and Kate, asking why they never hold hands. Kate makes her first public appearance since announcing her third pregnancy, implying that she is on the mend from HG.
10/11/2017: Meghan's 2011 film, Dysfunctional Friends, resurfaces. Her character is a photographer for male underwear models. Meghan tries to be a fashion influencer, gets linked to Julia Roberts, Naomi Watts, and Greta Lee as a major "power dresser". She also merches the nail polish she might wear for the wedding and/or the engagement announcement.
Meanwhile, Harry attends the 100 Women in Finance Gala Dinner. Kate's aide, Rebecca Deacon, receives the Royal Victorian Order. Buckingham Palace announces that Charles will lay wreaths at the Cenotaph for The Queen during the Remembrance Sunday service, and The Queen returns to London, ending her summer Balmoral haloriday.
10/12/2017: The Queen's first day back in London/work following summer holidays. Harry has #1 sexiest celebrity beard. (No, they're not talking about Meghan. They mean the actual hair on his face.)
10/13/2017: Meghan and Harry leak that they're house-hunting in the Cotswolds for a marital home and merch a few properties in the Daily Mail. Meghan also teases wedding speculation and Soho Farmhouse's newest financial report reveals that they lost $34.48 million in 2017 (hence the Harkle sponcon throughout 2018)
10/14/2017: Royals living in the US - forgotten Spencer cousins who call the American Pacific Northwest home.
10/15/2017: Meghan confirms that she is finished with Suits when Season 7 wraps in November. #MeToo movement begins and James Middleton, Donna Air split is revealed.
10/16/2017: Meghan leaks that she and Harry are already engaged but won't announce it until Suits filming has ended. Harry attends the WellChild Awards. Also, Harry tells people that he doesn't want a formal pageanty Cambridge-like wedding.
Meanwhile, Harry accompanies William and Kate to an engagement celebrating the release of Paddington 2.
10/17/2017: No new Meghan or Harkle stories, but Eugenie is papped in Los Angeles; William and Kate announce the baby is due in April; and Camilla gives a landmark speech on osteoporosis.
10/18/2017: Meghan leaks to the Daily Mail that she and Harry had tea with The Queen at Buckingham Palace on October 12th, and it's the first time Meghan met Her Majesty.
Note: This version of events contradicting Harry's claim in Spare that Meghan met The Queen for the first time on Sunday at the Royal Lodge while visiting the Yorks. October 12th is a Wednesday.
10/19/2017: Meghan teases Harry's proposal plan.
10/20/2017: Meghan's copycatting of Diana's outfits and behavior finally gets noticed. Meghan hints about etiquette lessons and teases the engagement.
Samantha Markle sets up a gofundme to raise money for an accessible home as her MS progresses, capitalizing on Meghan's fame.
10/21/2017: No new Meghan or Harkle stories.
10/22/2017: No new Meghan or Harkle stories.
10/23/2017: Harry has an away day in Lancashire.
10/24/2017: Meghan makes a dig at Kate - why she never wears red nail polish.
10/25/2017: Meghan merches her voice (perhaps this is when she starts negotiating for a Disney documentary voiceover gig...).
10/26/2017: DailyMailTV discusses Meghan's ancestry. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan leak that:
Harry has had a crush on Meghan since 2015 when he saw her on Suits and he did tell friends back then that she was his ideal woman.
KP aides have been instructed to begin wedding planning and are reviewing dates.
The Cambridges announced Kate's pregnancy early because protocol requires the wedding can't take place until after the baby is born.
10/27/2017: Channel 4 broadcasts a "10 Things About Meghan Markle" documentary.
10/28/2017: Meghan and Harry are actually related! They're distant cousins.
10/29/2017: No new Meghan or Harkle stories.
10/30/2017: No new Meghan or Harkle stories.
10/31/2017: Harry is in Chicago to attend the Barack Obama Foundation Summit, and Charles and Camilla are in Singapore for royal tour.

CC, some Prince Andrew gossip for you. Mail on Sunday editor Charlotte Griffith on "Palace Confidential" YT channel this week said she heard that Andrew may do another big interview soon. 🤦‍♀️😖 If it's true that Andrew plans to do a major interview to try to repair his reputation after the BBC interview disaster in 2019, I hope he gets the best PR team possible and follows their advice. However, short of a miracle, I don't see Andrew being able to rehabilitate his reputation at this point.
Hi Nonny,
My response to that news is #headdesk#. No interview that a royal has done on TV has ever turned out well, so I don't know why Prince Andrew thinks this time will be different, especially considering the disaster that was his last interview.
Prince Andrew is a walking talking disaster waiting to happen at this stage. In my opinion he has done far too many stupid and dodgy things for people to see him as a blameless innocent (for example his friendship with Maxwell and Epstein, his past dodgy financial dealings, his it wasn't me because I can't sweat defence, and so on). I think the best thing he can do is to shut up, lie low, avoid any future scandals, and let the truth come out through the actions of other people.
The media is completely against him, so any action on his part will only be met with mockery and denigration, and that will be the tone of the media articles that people read to form their opinion. That is a big red cross against any interview as far as I am concerned.
I sympathise with his attempt to clear his name and restore his reputation, but it hasn't worked in the past so I have no idea why he thinks it will work now.

https://at.tumblr.com/royal-confessions/carole-is-135-million-in-debt-and-trying-to-get/dpgvpxau7knr
Do you know if this is true?
This individual makes a lot of claims so to break it down:
Party Piece’s finances are private, they don’t share full accounts because of the type of company they set up. So we can’t know for sure. The Daily Mail reported they have a deficit of £1.35 million (not dollars; other countries exist and they use different currency!). That is apparently because they invested in expanding the business. I have no idea if that is true because I don’t know where they got it from. I’m not an expert in corporate finances but you’ll find that with organisations - charities, companies, etc - there is a different approach to individuals. If I spent £1.35 million on credit cards I’d probably be in a lot of trouble. But if a company has a deficit of £1.35 million that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Look at Victoria Beckham’s company which has never been profitable, it haemorrhages huge amounts of money every single year, but it still operates. So there’s nothing inherently concerning about your company being in deficit if you have a plan to get out it. Think of it like a mortgage. Anyone with a mortgage is in massive debt to the bank, but it’s not usually concerning because you have a plan to pay it back in small chunks. So obviously profit is better than deficit but if they’re not concerned, I wouldn’t be yet either.
In terms of them not wanting to pay suppliers, the Daily Mail reports they are in a “payment dispute” with suppliers. It provides no evidence so we can’t be sure of how truthful it is, but it also states that the dispute is Carole would like to make the payment cycle 90 days to reflect the Royal Mail strike, the cost of living crisis etc and her suppliers want to stick with 30. So it’s not about not paying, it’s about changing the payment dates.
As their accounts are protected, we have no evidence to support the idea Gary has given funds to Party Pieces. It would only be a problem for me if they’d accepted his money after he hit his wife in 2017. Before that, he was a gross idiot but that was about it. Also Party Pieces was started in 1987. Gary was 22 lol. From what I can tell he didn’t become a director of the company that made him his money until around 2000 and became a millionaire in 2005 so for the first 15 years - when they were sending their kids to expensive schools and lived in a nice house they bought almost mortgage free - they couldn’t have been relying on him to bank roll them exclusively.
So basically there’s some kernels of truth here, some things are made up, and all of it is viewed through the lens of hating Carole, a private citizen whose financial situation is not actually our business!
