Reality and Herzog

The new Herzog doc is good, but very conventional. It leaves me wanting more. And I will just comment on one small, but crucial, idea: truth & art.

Words like reality, truth, fact and meaning often get mixed up. Do you mean what is real or what is true? What is the difference? Well, how do you define the words? How do I? A fact can be true, meaning correct (accurate, measurable), but not truth. Reality is a collection, a constellation, of facts, maybe? Truth is not measurable.

This is pertinent today for two reasons: People wanting their art to be good, productive, moral, and true. The inane idea that “If an author writes about something bad, they are promoting it” and so on. Black and white worldview of true or false, mixed up into notions of truth and fiction - such plastic, vague, abstract concepts. Maybe true or false can be an either-or-proposition (even if few things in the world we live in can be categorized with such blunt instruments). But truth and fiction are not that kind of a pairing. They are not opposites. I’m not really sure what they are.

In the end, the movie presents the image of a waterfall that was fundamental to Herzog as a child, and throughout his life. He says he doesn’t want to know where the water comes from. This is how the movie leaves us, with an image at the heart of this creative person's life symbolizing force and vitality that must be protected from explanation. The meaning of the image is a lack of explanation. It has meaning by not being explained, but that is at the same time an explanation. It is the way art can show us a symbol for something that does not exist. A symbol of lack, so that we can deal with it. 

There is a risk to this of “rosebudding” it. A risk of mistaking this lack of meaning for the meaning, reducing Herzog to this one singular explanation. As if this were the key to Herzog, and we now understand him, and have some privileged access to his work. This is where I think it necessary to separate truth from true, meaning from reality. And maybe we can think of art and fiction as ways to negotiate these separations?

ꔫHow to Voluntarily Age Regress

ꔫHi all! I wanted to post this, but I can't call it as much a "guide" as I usually would, since it is purely my anecdotal experience!

ꔫNonetheless, I hope this is helpful to you in your endeavors!

ꔫTypically, when I am trying to regress, I start with age dreaming! This comes with a number of things, maybe it's:

Watching cartoons or another piece of media that I find comforting or that I've found puts me in the space

Coloring a picture or doing worksheets

Babytalking with my cgs, babysitters or other in-community friends

^Asking my cgs/babysitters to care for me as if I am already regressed

^^Generally interacting with other littles or friends I find comforting

Scrolling agere tags on here or ingesting other agere content

Using little gear like pacis, bottles, etc.

Playing with toys or playing video games that I've found put me in the space

Listening to a playlist that one of my cgs made me

Writing agere headcanons or making content of my ocs who regress

Daydreaming about agere outings, playdates, etc.

Going shopping and looking at toys

Cuddling, holding hands, getting my hair pet, etc.

ꔫThis is just a short list of things I've put together, there's a lot more that could be done, especially since it's extremely individual! This is just what works for me!

ꔫFrom there, I try to maintain this comforting and safe space by not taking on any work/responsibilities or really anything else not suitable for my small age.

ꔫAnd, it’s not like it’s a 100% success rate either! Sometimes, I’m just not feeling it; sometimes, I just continue age dreaming for the rest of the night! For me, you can’t really force it — it’s okay if it does happen, it’s okay if it doesn’t!

ꔫSome other helpful things:

I find it much easier to slip when I’m tired.

You might feel kinda silly being big and trying to do your small things, but that’s okay!

It’s not just a switch one can flip, so don’t be frustrated if it doesn’t come easily!

It’s different for everyone — for some people it comes really easily, for some people not so easily. Some people need to do a specific set of things and have a specific set of conditions to regress. Going further:

Not everyone can voluntarily regress, and that’s okay, but there’s no harm in trying it out!

Mother Daughter Things

Ruby and Carmine:*behind a counter*

Thugs:*shooting everywhere*

Ruby:I counted 20 of them.

Carmine:Same. They kinda suck. What do wanna do?

Ruby:I take 10 and you take 10?

Carmine:I can take 15 and you can take 5.

Ruby:Sweetie, I can take all of them. I just wanted to include you.

Carmine:I can handle all of them too, but then you’d be biting your nails and sweating the entire time.

Ruby:Pfft, okay Ms. Sassy. I’m not that bad. Tell you what, I can take all of them and only use three bullets from Crescent Rose. If I can’t, you pick dinner.

Carmine:…Deal.

Ruby:Sweet. Now watch your mom clown these idiots.

In a puff of petals, the huntress was off towards the chaos. An unfortunate foe was given a high speed drop kick to the chest that sent him into the floor. Ruby landed with her hands beside her head, catching her fall and springing her back up to petal burst. A woman was immediately closed lined as Ruby blitzed by to full speed tackle a third into the wall.

Ruby yoinked the rifle in their hand and sped around an onslaught of bullets to club the shooter with the rifle before beaming the gun at another’s head. They couldn’t even recover before they felt an arm put them in a chokehold. The body spun around with the gun still firing, causing the thugs to dive for cover. Ruby dashed with the body and threw it at two people before uppercutting a shooter across the room.

Carmine:(There’s no way I’m picking dinner…)

A body flew by her and out the window. Her mother had the nerve to look her way and flash a wink before speeding off again. Admittedly, it was very cool. Ruby has always been very cool to Carmine, but maybe her mother had the urge to show off just in case Carmine started feeling otherwise. She hasn’t.

Ruby did a quick burst through someone’s legs, catching them mid fall and spinning them violently into four more people. A brave soul finally got close enough to swing a right hook only to get a swift knee to the chin. Ruby springboarded off them and made a vortex that pulled conscious and unconscious thugs to one spot. With one bullet in the chamber, Ruby dislodged her fire magazine and threw it at the crowd before shooting it. A big explosion sent every thug flying before they hit the floor in agony.

Ruby:Okay, so, what do you want for dinner?

Carmine:What? You just won the bet.

Ruby:Yeah I shot a bullet, but I technically used all my ammo. *smiles* Want me to make your favorites?

Carmine:…*smiles* Sure, but let’s have your favorite dessert.

Jaune:Why is it that every time you two are as thick as thieves, a warehouse is a criminal front?

Ruby and Carmine: Warehouse brawls are fun. It’s a side quest.

Jaune:…At least you’re honest.

Big up Simon Snow for being the only person that really cared when Baz went missing. Yes, it started as self-preserving panic, thinking that Baz was off somewhere plotting to kill him, but that fear wasn’t unfounded. And very quickly that panic turned to genuine concern. He was the only person saying “hey, this minor has gone missing can someone check on him? He loved school and I know him best and I don’t think he’d purposefully miss his last year, should we send someone to find him?”

And everyone else was just going “oh Simon you’re so paranoid.” Teachers were saying “well really it’s none of our business.”

No adults seemed to care. Only Baz’s closest friends were shocked by his absence and even then they did nothing.

And then the gang find out Baz was KIDNAPPED and HELD CAPTIVE, STARVED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS and Simon, rightfully so, goes “that’s horrible! Guys we shouldn’t leave him alone right now, I’m going to go back to this house full of people that want me dead so I can comfort him.”

And I don’t think that stems from his underlying feelings for Baz, I think he did that because Simon is a hero to his core. Baz had tried to kill him multiple times and make his life hell, but in that moment all Simon saw was a young man who’d been through something traumatic and abandoned by everyone around him. A young man who Simon wanted to save in whatever way he possibly could.

“Hello?” a groggy voice said on the other side of the telephone line. “Who is this?”

“Meeks,” Todd said, wide awake despite not having slept a wink the night before. “It’s Todd. I need you to put Charlie on.”

“Todd?” Meeks mumbled. There was a rustling and then he said, “Are you and Neil not in your room?”

“No. Please go get Charlie, it’s important,” Todd said again, more urgently. “It’s about Neil.”

Silence filled the conversation, and Todd worried that Meeks would press for details. As he had stared at the dark ceiling throughout the night, all Todd could think about was Neil and his father. He decided that the fewer people who knew about it, the better, so Charlie was the only poet he was going to tell. For now.

On the other end, Meeks let out a tired sigh and said, “Okay, give me one second.” After a click indicated that he had set down the phone, Todd let out a sigh he didn’t realize he had been holding.

The silence gave Todd a moment to think about exactly what he was doing. Before this he had called Mrs. Perry and briefly discussed what her plan was. “I’m going to call the cops and tell them I did it,” she explained with a wobbly voice.

“But you haven’t yet?” Todd clarified.

“No, but I—”

“Good,” Todd interrupted. “Don’t. Not yet.”

He promptly hung up with out explaining any further, and then dialed his dorm’s number that he remembered from when he had agreed to call Neil over Thanksgiving break when he visited his family and Neil had to stay at school and take extra lessons.

And now, here he was, waiting and hoping for the boy who once told him he’d rather die and go to hell than wake up before seven in the morning to come talk to him at five fifty after staying out late the night before. But thankfully, Charlie’s voice rang in Todd’s ear only a minute later.

“Todd, what’s up?” he asked with a scratchy voice.

He’d rehearsed this probably a dozen times in the mirror, but it still felt very wrong and at the same time incredibly right when he said, “Neil killed his father last night. And we need you to help with the cover up.”

ꔫWhy Do People Age Regress?

ꔫThere is a number of reasons that an individual may age regress!

ꔫBecoming familiar with terms “voluntary” and “involuntary” will be very useful in your understanding!

Voluntary: “intentional, done because one wants to”

Involuntary: “unintentional, carried out without one’s own wishes”

ꔫSo, age regression is something that can be done voluntarily or involuntarily. To restate, it can happen because one chooses to or because one unintentionally falls into the state.

ꔫVoluntary regression, oftentimes, is for fun or relaxation! However, it is sometimes also done voluntarily as a choice between different coping mechanisms.

ꔫInvoluntary regression is “triggered”. Despite the connotations of the term “triggered”, this does not always mean something negative! Yes, triggers for regression can be stress, anxiety, fear, etc., but they can also be happiness, comfort, external environmental factors, etc.

ꔫWhen used as a coping mechanism, age regression is commonly defined as “returning to a time where you felt safer, things were easier, and/or less stressed out.”

ꔫRegression is not always a bad experience, but it’s not always a good one either! Both happen, both are real, that’s okay!

ꔫWhether or not you are a voluntary or involuntary regressor, if you regress for fun or to cope — or a combination of all of these things — that is perfectly valid. All that matters is that you are safe, happy, and doing what’s good for you!

So Rosi has to be 100% OP but her father's still see her as their daughter. I can see a scenario where Roci finds herself in a crazy battle and Luffy and Law rushing to try and help her but when they get to her she has completely dominated the battlefield.

”Todd.”

A hand shook Todd’s arm and he stirred, cracking his eyes open to see a brunet sitting next to his bed.

“Oh, Neil,” he mumbled, rolling away.

“No, no, Todd,” Neil said again. The break in his voice made Todd sit up, the sleepiness disappearing from his eyes. Neil’s eyes were wide and filled with shock, but the first thing Todd noticed were the tear stains on his cheeks.

“What happened?” he whispered urgently.

Neil looked down at his hands. They were covered in blood. “Todd, I…” His voice broke into a sob.

”Neil,” Todd said carefully, sitting up straighter and subconsciously inching away. “Wh-who’s blood is that?”

Neil looked up, glassy eyed and shaking. “I killed my father,” he whispered.
