And the subject is right there, smack dab in the middle. Being tormented by the sins of the egg. (I drew him really cute but I can't share the rest.)

ALSO, I'd like to state that it's not corngraphic except like two maybe, it's more so like violent. We are all just having fun beating this guy up. Like, step right up and stomp on his face type shih. I never ever ever draw violent stuff, unless it's lewling related, so this is like cathartic.

This uhh feeling will fade after Halloween hopefully and we'll go back to our regularly scheduled wholesomeness and cammypus.

(Oh, dear... Yep, you'll unleash the beast with an ask such as this. The beast being all of the ROs because all of them are capable of being monsters if pressed, haha.)

S: S watches you from a distance, as they so often do when they are around you. It isn't on purpose. Their eyes are naturally drawn to you when their mind begins to wander. But what they wander to this time is less pleasant. They don't know who it is with you, but it is obvious the conversation isn't going well. Then, they strike you across the face. It happens in moments, but it slows down for S.

In theory, S knows you can handle yourself well enough. The hit was sloppy with little technique; they have seen you take worse. Yet the indignity of it all only makes them feel... angry.

"You do attract some odd sorts, MC," S says, stepping between you and the assailant, arms crossed with muscles flexed. "Now even rodents are vying for your attention."

The stranger steps forward momentarily, blind rage cutting through common sense before reason again takes hold. They weigh their chances against the two of you before quickly scuttling away with their head dipped low.

"I could have handled that, S."

S turns back to you with a soft smile. "I know. That was for me." S reaches out and gently caresses the area that was struck. "Let's find something cold for the swelling. Then you can tell me all about how you managed to anger the pest."

Rain: Rain's been a little distracted by their surroundings. They still have much to learn about the human world, which can be a lot to take in. So, they don't realise they have been gradually wandering further and further away from you; not until they turn around to ask you a question, and you aren't there. They are momentarily confused until they spot you a little away being confronted by someone who looks especially angry.

The man leers into your space before reaching out to slap you across the face. It shocks them. The blatant violence against you is harrowing and difficult to believe despite it staring them right in the face.

Rain sprints to close the distance, setting themselves between you and the attacker with a face of fury reserved for only the worst of creatures.

"Back off. Now."

The man scoffs, clearly not very impressed. "This has nothing to do with you. This is between me and them."

"Wrong." Rain pulls out an official-looking badge that denotes them as a government employee. "I suggest you walk away before this becomes my problem further."

The man tuts, shakes his head, then turns on his heel with a quick step.

"I had that handled, Rain."

Rain sighs. Then turns to you and shrugs. "At least he's gone now. Let's get some ice for that cheek, shall we?"

Taj: Taj has zoned out. Sometimes, they have to do it in public to stop themselves from feeling suffocated by the people around them, which gets them in trouble a lot. S can be whittling away battle plans on the fly and will quiz them once finished, only to find Taj had stopped paying attention about halfway through.

So, it isn't immediately apparent to them that you have begun to draw back. But they do not step too far away before their ears twitch, alerting them to a change in surroundings. They turn back, expecting you to already be rushing to catch up, but instead see you waylaid by a furious man shouting spittle in your face.

Taj is already rushing back in your direction when they see the closed fist contact your cheek. A burning heat engulfs the pit of their stomach, and their vision hazes red as Taj pounces onto your assailant, forcing them to their floor as their fists and claws start going wild.

"How dare you?! You filthy little--"

You have to drag them away. It isn't pretty. The man's face is bleeding from multiple lacerations, terror in his eyes as he crawls to his feet and dashes down the street.

Taj is breathing heavily, their skin burning hotter than usual. They feel tiny lumps of skin collected under their fingernails from where they dug them into the human's face. It was wild, untamed. They want to keep going.

"Taj?"

Taj inhales sharply, closing their eyes as they count to ten in their head. 0ne, two, three...

They feel your hand on their arm and open their eyes again.

"Are you... all right?" Taj finally says. "Are you hurt?" A warm hand encompasses your cheek with much more gentleness than they showed the man.

"We need to go. Now," you command, tugging on their sleeve. "Hopefully S will know how to fix this."

N: It is common for N to fill the silence with the sound of their own voice. They have a lot to say, and their voice is lovely by the way. So, when you are wandering the street, and N is gesturing wildly as they recount the tale of their day, they don't immediately notice you lagging behind. "And that is when I said, 'Nice try. Next time try using your actual legs to--" They stop, eyebrows creased and turn towards you.

The instant they do, a resounding slap fills the space. Your head turns with it, but otherwise, nobody moves. N feels the Hael in them raging. The fire that keeps them tethered unleashes inside them, boiling their blood dangerously.

But they do their best to mask it, hiding behind an insidious grin.

"And who is this delightful individual, MC?" They ask, reaching out to grab the woman's hand before she can pull back, gripping it tightly. "You always make such interesting friends."

Sensing their darkness, you place a placating hand on their shoulder. "It's okay, N. I can handle this."

The woman senses it, too. N may be smiling, but there's no amusement there. She's scared; all previous bravado has wilted to nothing. So, N lets her go.

"Scuttle away now, my dear," they say, waving their hand away as if dismissing a servant. "Before my hand slips."

The woman does as she is bid in record time, and N's smile slowly twists to a snarl. "Wretched cur."

"It's fine. I'm fine. Let's just drop it."

N inhales deeply, the hatred still burning. Then, they firmly plant a smile back on their face. "Of course, my dear. Let us go about our day together, unspoiled. You should probably get that face seen to. We can't allow your perfect features to become marked, can we?"

Strangely enough, you don't bump into the woman again on your usual morning routes. It's almost as if she has vanished entirely from Albach Bay.

Umbra: Umbra spent some time away from you today. They are getting better at it. Their instinct is still to remain close, watchful, a silent sentinel destined to guard you. But they have since learned that it can be unhealthy to have such a strong attachment to a living person—unhealthy for the recipient and harmful for the provider. It's not something they particularly understand, but they want to learn—for you.

But now they are keen to return to your side. It's been two hours, after all. That's more than enough time for something dreadful to have happened. They need to see you. To see you safe.

They round a corner, their face lighting up when their eyes catch you. The other person with you barely gets a second glance. Until that person lifts a hand to you, anyway. Then, Umbra is instilling that face into memory. Within moments, a cloud of black smoke disappears and reappears beside the assailant, a black dagger curled beneath his throat, pressing against the skin.

Black smoke pillows out of Umbra's eyes, the typical whites of their eyes pitch black. Within a breath, a dagger is pressed close to the man's throat, nicking at the skin.

"How dare you?!" The voice is raspy, much lower than Umbra's usual tone, and joined by a myriad of dissonant whispers.

You reach out, grasping Umbra's arm to stop them. "No, Umbra! Don't!"

Your voice cuts through the fog, the black in their eyes returning white as they turn to you. "But this man--"

"Does not deserve to die!"

Umbra feels your anger and disappointment in them. It cuts deeper than any dagger could. But they do not know how to differentiate between those who hurt you and those who should die for it.

Umbra drops the knife from the man's neck, stepping away to let him run. And run, he does. Umbra watches a moment longer, allowing the man to shriek and holler far into the distance.

"We should go. Now. Hopefully S can fix this."

Umbra follows, their dagger arm still itching.

Alright alright haha. I've had a bunch of ppl begging for Zima's version now; don't worry, I hear y'all, I was just busy.

To preface: Zima would act very different with the MC as opposed to any other partner, so all these answers basically only apply to MC. With others, Zima is way less affected. Also, this is the longest of the RO alphabets, because Zima and MC's relationship is by far the most variable out of all of them.

A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)

Depends. If it's a hatefuck, Zima is just gonna zip up, f!Zima maybe lingering for a second to redo her makeup, but won't say a word. They'll be too overwhelmed to talk. They're seething, but they're also really disappointed in themself and just plain scared. So no, there'll be no cuddling, no pillow talk, nothing.

If the hookup happens after a truce has been achieved between Zima and MC, they won't be as angry, but still really overwhelmed and sad. I don't want to go into what Zima would be like in an actual relationship too much bc there's so much that needs to happen in the story for them to get to that point that it'd make this answer highly spoilery.

B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)

Zima fluctuates between feeling incredibly sexy and absolutely hating everything about themselves. Sometimes, f!Zima loves her slight abs, other times she's downright scared they make her look like a man. Sometimes, she adores her large ass, other times, she thinks it makes her look fat. M!Zima loves his muscles and towering over people, but it only takes one bad memory to resurface and suddenly, he hates how heavy he is and wishes he was more toned and graceful. It's a constant up and down.

In a partner, Zima likes just about anything. It's always different things that draw them to someone. Fun fact: They actually like bigger stomachs, butts, etc., even though they're deadly afraid of having one themselves. They love smackable parts xD of course, it's not a requirement. Zima always finds sth else to be drawn to. To them, any person can be hot.

C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)

It's a big shrug. Zima thinks cumming is overrated.

D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)

No secret of their own, but here's a plot point that kind of fits and might be cool to know: as the band's rise goes on, Zima turns into a sex symbol. They openly enjoy this.

E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)

They are the most experienced out of all the ROs!! DEFINITELY knows what they're doing.

F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)

Anything that has the other person lying down and Zima above them. Zima likes being in control, and watching the other person react to whatever they're doing. This might be different with the MC if it's a hatefuck. Zima might turn MC over to face away from them in that case.

G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)

Not humorous whatsoever. They're serious to the point of seeming methodical.

H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)

F!Zima waxes her legs and bikini zone, like, religiously. She prefers this over shaving because the wax makes it so the hairs come back soft and not stubbly, and she has a high threshold for pain.

M!Zima has a lot of soft body hair which he rather likes, but he does shave his chest sometimes, because he sometimes goes onstage shirtless and oiled up to show off his muscles, and the oil makes the chest hair look all weird.

I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)

messyyyy.... so messyyyy. It's too complicated to really describe; you'll have to wait and see how it is in the game.

BUT with a partner that's not the MC, Zima's pretty detached.

J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)

They masturbate a lot, and they love using toys on themself.

K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)

They like being in charge, and they like having the other person beg. Also they love using toys on the other person.

L = Location (favorite places to do the do)

A bed.

M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)

Could be anything! With the MC tho, it's mainly strong emotions. When they harmonize or sing into the same mic, Zima could melt right into a puddle. When they fight and tension is rising, there's a part in the back of Zima's mind that makes them want to tear their own clothes off right then and there.

N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)

Pretend like everything's alright and this is healthy.

Always and Forever (Jason Todd x f!reader) the first smut fic i ever wrote. i wrote this during finals season and i think i channeled some of the frustration and desperation i was feeling into this fic.

Words Left Unsaid (Jason Todd x f!reader) my own take on a soulmate au and the childhood friends to lovers trope. this one felt very personal to me since i was drawing on a lot of my own emotional experiences to write this, so the fact that readers reacted so kindly to it meant a lot. writing this fic was a really cathartic exercise in grief and living with loss. tissues not required but recommended.

The Ghost of You (Jason Todd x f!reader) possibly my favourite “jason is the red hood” reveal i’ve written yet. before i had even started writing fics, i would send asks in to ro (who i hope didn’t get too annoyed with me) about universes and fic ideas i had but was too scared to write. this was one of them. hopefully one day i’ll finish up the next chapter languishing in my drafts.

Singing in the Rain (Jason Todd x f!reader) this one was inspired by an ask and i remember so vividly feelings like i was possessed while i was writing it. i read the ask and immediately pulled out my laptop and wrote the whole thing in one sitting.

Kaz

As a child he pretended to be afraid of the dark for years because his mother would comfort him with stories from her homeland. She still thinks he is and asks the servants to keep some candles burning at night, even though they annoy him. He considers this karma for the lies.

He has a massive sweet tooth. He might project the image of a stoic, serious emperor but that man loves sweets. He doesn’t indulge too often in public though. He’d rather sneak into the kitchens at night and once frightened a poor cook half to death when he stumbled upon his sovereign eating honey straight from a jar at like 2 am.

He’s a remarkable artist. He draws a lot. Really into architecture too.

He fidgets with his signet ring when he’s nervous. He does this unconsciously most of the time, and those who aren’t familiar with his mannerisms might assume he’s just deep in thought. But really his mind is spamming the panic button.

I’m not sure if this is a “fun” fact but he enjoys bloodsport. His father’s reign was criticized for this and his friendship with Fang has given him a different perspective on how slaves in the fighting pits are treated so he’s distanced himself from it. But it bothers him a bit, how much like his father he can be.

Fang

He has talent for juggling and often uses it to entertain children in the marketplace.

He’s quite the pirate fanboy. He wants to be a pirate so bad and dreams of owning a ship and just sailing around the world someday. Fang once won a drinking contest against a notorious pirate captain, earning him a place on the crew if he ever felt inclined. Fang thinks about that offer everyday.

He learned how to read and write from his master and has a hidden stash of romantic poetry that he's written over the years, inspired by his various crushes and lovers. He's never shared these poems with anyone, as he fears they might ruin his roguish reputation.

He doesn’t have a home. He has enough gold stockpiled from his fighting days to live comfortably and Khazunef has made it clear that he’s welcome at the palace but he prefers to just… wander around. He claims it’s because he likes not knowing where he’ll end up, and that every day is a new adventure. But really it’s because when he thinks of home he remembers a time long ago when he was a boy, before the raiders, before the slavery and before the fighting, when his mother would cradle him by a warm hearth and sing a lullaby. He can’t recreate that feeling. He’s terrified even trying to.

Persa

She loves to play pranks. Her favorite involves sneaking into rooms while their occupants are away and rearranging their furniture just slightly, enough to make them question their own sanity when they return.

She has a photographic memory, which comes in handy for her favorite pastime: gambling. Do not under any circumstances challenge her to any games of chance, as she can easily remember cards played or patterns in a game. Several guards have lost months wages in this manner.

Shes the definition of having a green thumb. She has a fondness for winter roses, a flower that grows in the snowy peaks of her native land. She managed to cultivate them in the desert. Persa tends a small garden of these roses in the palace as a reminder of home. She’s skilled herbalist and often disappears into the palace gardens for hours at a time, gathering plants and herbs for her potions and remedies.

Persa is a gifted singer, but she only sings when she thinks no one is listening. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful, and it's said that even the birds fall silent to listen it. Something she finds herself humming tunes of the songs from her home, but she can never quite remember the words.

Ignasia

She absolutely detests spicy foods. Yes she knows, it’s ironic that a fire priestess can’t stand the heat. You can only make that joke once. Do it again and she might curse you.

Despite her serious demeanor, Ignasia has a wicked sense of humor. She loves to tell jokes with a straight face, leaving others unsure whether to laugh or not.

She has a talent for mimicry and can do impressions of almost anyone including fellow priestess, imperial courtiers and advisors. She won’t confirm or deny if she’s used this skill for dubious purposes.

She pretends leaving her noble family behind to become a priestess was a great sacrifice. In truth it was her greatest pleasure.

Sometimes, she tells people that she sees things in the flames that aren’t there. She tells herself it’s for the greater good. To give hope to the man who asked if his daughter’s sickness was fatal, to prevent a young lad who asked if the gods will protect him if he sought out his sister’s murderer from getting killed or simply because the truth was too heavy. She tells herself it’s for the best, and the flames wouldn’t mind. Right?

Well maybe I'm a little crazy for this, but I think with the genes that Branch's family seems to have, they'd definitely have a large family 😅

Being 1 of 5 brothers and then Bruce having 13 of his own... I think initially, Branch would be like "There's no way in hell I'm having a bunch of kids" but somehow ending up with quite a few... I've come up with not one, but... 7 kids for them. 😅😅

I think the first time would be a surprise/unplanned and the rest on purpose. Branch would be carrying the majority of the eggs, but Poppy would have some too! I have names for all of them but I don't know what they all look like yet but I have some information at least, so let me know if you'd like me to draw them or expand on this! 💖

She goes by Rosie, Rose, Ro-Ro, Zizi—She has a lot of nicknames from her parents tbh. She's very much like her dad and is quick to learn a skill. She's very close with her dad and it's likely that they're always together. She gets her stubbornness from her mom but she truly has a heart of gold and will always get a task done no matter what which has its good and bad moments.

#2: Frond

[Poppy carried]

He's a soft spoken, easy going kid with a surfer dude sort of attitude. Doesn't stress too much and loves to be in the water. Prefers to be on his own but loves to spend time with his mom, her singing voice is the best way to get to sleep. :]

#3 & 4: Sprout and BJ - Twins

[Branch carried Sprout, Poppy carried BJ]

BJ (Branch Jr.) is a carbon copy of Branch but has the personality of his mother, loud, excitable and honestly talks way too much.

Sprout looks similar but has her mother's face and eye color; she's very shy and doesn't talk much as all. Very cautious and anxious.

#5, 6 & 7: Petunia, Daisy & Petal

[Branch carried all three, they were only trying for one more egg, but surprise! 🎉]

The three of them are a unit but have very different personalities. Petunia is headstrong and takes on a leader role, she doesn't like to be bossed around and loves gardening.

Daisy is the brains. He likes to tinker and work with electronics and likes to take things apart and reassemble them for fun.

Petal is a total goofball and likes to play pranks. They're typically harmless! (Sometimes.) They like to play music with their uncle Floyd.

The triplets are very different from each other in personality, interests and looks, but they all get along pretty well and always seem to be on the same page. They're more likely to argue with their other siblings than with each other. They're very attached to Rosie for some reason.

What would the RO's reactions to an MC who flirts 24/7. Because it's fun to see people turn red and awkward around them. But when someone reciprocates MC just turn into a mumbling red faced idiot.

You’re in luck, no one has asked that yet Anon! That’s a sweet scenario too. 

Oswin:  It can be pretty easy to fluster Oswin. He’s out of his depth with flirting (at least intentional flirting). This would be something he would have to plan in advance. He’d come up with scenarios based on the lines MC usually uses, and have flirty comebacks in reserve to use at the right moment. During his shining moment, he finally gets to whip out a flirty one-liner he’s held on to for weeks…only for the MC to flounder in response. He likes it. He likes it so much. It gives him a little buzz, but this was a lot of work for him, lol. He won't push though.

Zahn:  They are very receptive to flirting of all types. They tend to be bold and direct. Bold flirting is fun for them and it makes everything more clear. Shy flirting is also fun, and it draws a response for them that is somehow equal parts nurturing and teasing. Shyness makes them want to dig in and stir up the MC, and make them face it more (encourage them) - maybe making them more red-faced in the process (delicious).

Duri:  They looove flirting, playing, and being irritating. Duri practically subsists on drawing reactions out of others. They love both bold and shy responses. Bold flirting becomes a game on a level playing field, but shy responses draw out a weird, almost predatory, instinct from them. A red-faced MC, reduced to a mess from their coy words, makes them want to press harder. They’ll escalate, get physically closer - speak in a low voice close to MC’s ear - and revel at the wind being taken from their sails.

Rune:  They like to act nonplussed about MC’s flirtations to try to discourage it (but the moment it stops, they’d get anxious about it). They can flirt, they just don’t always want to…but reducing MC to a red blubbering mess makes them want to try it more often. They don’t rub it in, but merely enjoy it with a smug amount of pride. Rune is likely going to keep smiling coyly at MC all night and watch them turn red again and again.

???:  “What’s this-what’s this? My sugar-tongued heartfire is all flustered? Where did all that guile go?” He’s going to gently guide MC to meet his eyes. “It seems the fire has moved from your heart to your cheeks, my dear. It looks good on you.”

In short, Jumper says on an exhale, as if resigned in advance—while you were gone, a lot of things happened.

I wasn't 'not there,' Ro says; I was doing art. I had exalted myself above human interests and needs and wove a different reality.

You got drunk on your tinctures, drew a couple of hexes, and passed out for a month—she translates for herself. Anyway, it doesn't matter right now; in short, blindfold bandits took even more people; there was also a war for spawn.

Just because you're technically right doesn't mean you can blame me for this. Ro interrupts her again. I'm sure he was right, and I wasn't planning on passing out for two months, just for a week.

Jumper claps her hands.

In short!—she repeats—in this difficult time, the Empire helped us decently, and we helped them too, so now we are in an alliance. At least remember that, okay?

Of course, of course, Ro laughs. The Empire, so the Empire. No season without teamup with Mapicc. It's really fate, or something. No idea, don't care.

We're not the same team; Jumper corrects him, giggling, just allies! Its different!

What a difference! Ro draws out, rolling his eyes. I'm still right. What are the plans?

Don't die, for starters, she shrugs; Rek has his own plans for now; I have a base to build. We have a couple of ideas; of course, we should discuss them together...

We need to bully Flame, Ro says authoritatively. Find his base and gradually change it. And then spawnkill him. 

That's a great idea! Jumper answers ironically; I can see how we will succeed, absolutely for sure!

She pauses and then bursts into laughter. Wiping away her tears, she chirps:

Haha, of course! Why not! It's going to end badly, but at least we're going to have fun.

Ro grins smugly.

Jumper cover his mouth. Ro continues to speak even through her fingers but does not attempt to free himself. She looks pointedly annoyed, but even now the corners of her lips are twitching, about to turn into a smile.

Honestly at this point you should just make a spin off that lets us romance all the side characters because they seem to be just as popular as the actual ROs, which says a lot about your strengths as an author!

I don’t care about what the plot would be, set it at a freaking summer camp for all I care lol just let me romance Cienna and Diana please 🙏!!!!

I appreciate the sentiment 💜 — I’m so honored that everyone seems to enjoy my characters, whether they’re romance options or side characters. It truly means the world to me.

Honestly, I was playing Resident Lover recently (the fan game for Resident Evil: Village) and your last statement made me think of it. Could you imagine Cienna being the Dean of the College? Diana would totally be the Art Professor (as she loves to draw in her spare within canon). Just a campus filled with hot teachers. 😂

A Summer Camp AU would be fun too though! All of them as councilors — let’s just not have it turn into Friday the 13th.

I'm sorry this took me so long to answer - I know there's no pressure (which I appreciate immensely!) but I really want to answer them, I'm just super slow!

Self, Job/Work: Honestly I'm super happy to talk about anything like this! With all my social links on my pinned posts it wouldn't be too difficult to find out a lot of stuff about me and my life anyway! Baggishield/Tolkien, Dragon Age, Johnlock/Sherlock, ineffable spouses, other fandom: Okay so while I enjoy all of these fandoms, and more besides, I get real single-minded about my special interests. Right now it's Bagginshield, and that's really all my brain has room for! OC's: I would genuinely loooove to talk about my OCs, so very much! As I said above, bagginshield is really my main focus right now, but I have two half-written original novels that I really hope to pluck up the courage to share one day. Honestly I would love so much to have the opportunity to talk about them more here, but I know there's not a lot of interest. Folks are here for the bagginshield stuff, and that's totally fair! But, I'm going to write these stories either way and I really would love any excuse to gush about them and my OCs! art/drawing: I don't draw, I'm afraid! Hey! I love this ask! I can definitely picture this exact scenario happening in the IF. Lets say that MC and the RO are just lounging around together in the common area, and MC leaves their sketchbook on the table to go use the restroom. I think it'll be fun to see how they react and their thought process while MC isn't around. 🤭 And lets set this in the crushing stage.

You've probably gotten a few of these before but my turn for praise. Even as a person who's probably a hopeless romantic I dearly appreciate that Wayfarer doesn't make itself a romance first game. So many IF do that and it makes the game lose any sense of plot and in the worse cases, outright repetitive because the options fail to add any flavor to the rest of the game. Even worse are all the games that sort of 'forget' the other characters are there once you're in a romance.

But what makes Wayfarer even better is the fact you have ace/aro-spec representation that actually matters because people fall into the pitfall of making them a "hard to get/aloof/unaware of anything ever" romance option. Having the ability to make platonic bonds that influence the game just as much as romantic ones and don't diminish aro/ace characters is so nice and I appreciate it so much.

I think this is maybe a good opportunity to riff a little on genre conventions and expectations.

Romance games have their own conventions. They're fun, they're often self-indulgent--the point is to indulge in the fantasy that the MC (and therefor you, the player) is the centre of the universe. Everyone you come across is at least a little bit in love with you. You are special. You are loved. And this is really fun!

Of course, there are romance games that colour outside these lines, but the general expectation is that you will have your selection of ROs, their individual routes, and that the ROs are always going to put the MC first. Having individual routes for each RO usually means that the RO is the star of their route, and all other characters take a backseat because they are the star of their own route. The MC and the romance is the focus, everything else is secondary.

I do really want to stress that there is nothing wrong with this format. It's successful for a reason! The problem comes when you try to apply these conventions to all games, especially ones that do not fall within this genre.

When romance isn't the focal component of the game, the narrative can ring a little hollow if you try try to employ conventions like this. I think there needs to be room for IF games where the MC isn't special, where they are literally Just Some Guy, where the characters they interact with have a range of things going on with them that don't have anything to do with the MC at all. Characters having a life outside the MC is really important for creating deep bonds and meaningful relationships; it's part of having rounded, fleshed-out characters. There needs to be room for conflict and complications, because that's where character development lies.

There's a reason why Aeran doesn't spill all his secrets in Episode 2. If this were a romance game, he might--but it's not and he won't. He is in a significant amount of emotional distress in Velantis and it is not in character for him to break down and reveal everything at the MC's request. Relationships aren't easy, especially when both parties have a lot of growth and healing to do.

And I think, too, when it comes to early IF development it's very easy to want to rush right to the romances. Romances draw in an audience, they give folks something to look forward to. They're the thing you get asks about, which generates interest in your game, and helps you inspiration and drive afloat. But when the focus remains only on that, it's very easy to overlook other necessary narrative aspects. There needs to be balance.

With regards to aro/ace characters - it's easy to fall into tropes for them, even if you don't intend to. There are expectations about what a "good" and "satisfying" relationship looks like in fiction, and aro/ace characters often fall outside of that. To grasp being aro/ace, you have to question what sexual and romantic attraction actually is, which you don't necessarily have to grasp with other characters because the assumption is that it is there naturally.

And even then, aromanticism and asexuality is hard to communicate effectively in fiction without making it feel "lesser". Take for example, Aeran's intimacy scene in Episode 2. There's a difference between the allosexual option (where the MC sleeps with him and they are emotionally and physically intimate) and the asexual option (where they don't have sex, but the emotional intimacy is still there). Even though I was being as careful not to weigh one option over the other, in comparing the two the allosexual version is the more traditionally "satisfying" ending to that arc than the asexual one because it follows conventions. I am personally really happy with the asexual option, but it still feels like it lacks a certain… "oomf", for lack of a better term.

I think this is why it's really important to have substantial relationships outside of romance. When romance and sex aren't weighted as a signifier of the deepest bond you can have with a person, there's room to explore more diverse relationships and how they can take form.

AHHH... Wandering Karate, my truest beloved!!!! I do!! But I am rewriting my canon :3c so this is kind of messy and due for a little bit of changing maybe?! Orz !!!!!!!!

The basis for a lot of this is a really old fic I wrote for myself that doesn't exist anymore waaa qwqq sorry if this doesn't make sense!

• Joe's family lives in one of the villages Ronin (Wandering Samurai) has rescued.

• Specefically I imagine the one in "Super Samurai Slice", since he leaves unnoticed.. However, Joe saw the whole thing! (Imagine this is some like, 3rd incident lol)

• I like to think Joe would attempt to jump into action and help out (foolishly brave!), but due to being a teensy bit of a clutz he ends up being carried most of the way.

• But he still helped out you know, and like, real danger! Ronin is impressed. And gave compliments where it was due

• Samurai is invited for a drink / some steak and rice. They hang out!! They just chat. I think both of them are a little lonely, and it was just easy to talk. And they did, for hours.

• Joe's inspired by Ronin's skill. Ronin thinks Joe is inspiring for jumping into the situation despite his misteps. Like the desire, but weak energy for skill (Joe, who i project chronic fatigue onto lol), in contrast to the unstopping precise performance, that could fear nothing more than a mistep.

• To me, Joe is a guy who's embarrassed a lot, but he keeps trekking! But hes also frozen still into his current situation, unable to free his wings. While Ronin has light feet when it comes to his embarrassments. And, ofc, cannot let himself stay too long, anywhere! I think due to his nature, he's lonesome and is locked into a endless cycle of self reflection/percieved redemption (over critical)

• Anyways the family comes home. And Ronin's like, ah, I shall go. (Not wanting to be a disturbance) and heads out the door.

• BUT Senior is like "Joe, I need you to pick up my epic gi from -inserts convenient far away comical temple post office-" and Joe, somehow not irritated, and now given a journey, is like 💡‼️ and chases after Ronin.

• He really wants to tag along for just a while. He helped after all! Whats some more time together..? Ronin briefly attempts to decline, before deciding the company wouldn't be a bother... letting Joe come along- call this a ROADTRIP!

• Anyway, the idea was they had two nights of travel / chitchat, with a bit of shenanigans to themselves. Learn about one another. Kind of can see a glimpse into the others perception. And like.. yah... Dudes who want to be friends so bad, everytime they talk there's a silent spark inside both of them bc they're so lonely and a!!!!

• My oc, Karate Maccie, played into my fic uhmm,,, she became the unwanted child tagalong. She's the comic relief pretty much lol!!! but she also is like really trying to set them up as friends you know? She sees these two introverts trying to make it happen. She thinks Joe could use the friend :] She's also just nosey. I know what you are (lonely.)

• More shenanigans & silly adventure for Senior's mail... In the end, Joe and Ronin would have to part ways, but, they would keep touch in letters!!!! Joe being given a post office to write to, and Ronin promising to be there in time to recieve it!

Also I think Maccie + Ronin would have a mini rivalry arc, but it's mostly one sided from Maccie's end lol, and by the end it's somewhat resolved, and Ronin actually offers to train with her or something some time! They all had fun okay! Ugh!!!

I think from there their relationship is just you know, they get each other I guess? They share their thoughts in letters, and are honest and discuss anything and yeahaha... Sometimes a letter is just. "I saw a bird :)" -drawing-, and they get it...!!! they repeatedly will express in their letters how much they truly treasure the others company. Idk man!!! Queer platon guys okay!!!!!

Ronin would definitely make time to come around and visit the village, and Joe would up and leave the house w/o anouncing for mini trips to travel and meet the wandering samurai when hes close to the area!! Skipping practice?! For the samurai he holds dear?! It's serious, you know!!!

But I think the tension takes forever to boil over into melting their boundaries with one another. These dudes need to embrace. So bad. I think. But it's so hard, when you know the lack of it can hurt???? But one day.. I will feel confident enough in both of us, to hold you...??? And know that even when we part, ill see, and hold you again? Wails???

Also they both have a somewhat similar family life in my hcs. Dead mothers, somewhat strained relationship with father, tradition, a clash in how they want to live? Something. They can't be together, but they treasure and hold their shared time dearly, and hold their long distance relationship with nurture :) I lovegh. Them.

Also, food for thought- Bon Odori is also in the village Joe lives in. (And I hc the toss boys are kids in this village, so fourth) maybe Samurai Slice Endless (DS) is there too :] I think he'd do that anywhere needed, but I like the idea of him going from not well known anywhere aside from few legends, to becoming apart of this community because of Joe? Or something? Sobs...??? Sorry idk...

Also I imagine a mini plotline of their relationship regarding the fact Ronin doesn't have a true name + Joe's rise to doing things outside the house ??? Things.. !!!

Here's the OC Dice Generator I came up with!

I had three categories I wanted and had to think real hard on how to make them all fit on 6 sides of a dice.

1. Species

I had pretty large groups for each, but being dice it still gives it a bit of a handicap (which is why I like these challenges).

I had

Animal; Human; Monster; Mythical; Alien; Spooky

2. Color Pallette

A huge handicap for creativity is the color scheme. A lot of creations are very much determined by what colors you have available, but sometimes you sketch something out before you think of colors and then struggle to find complementing colors to the art.

I had

Pop; Dark; Warm; Cool; Pale; Rainbow

3. Bonus Time

I really wanted something to make each piece unique in a six-option-only kinda way. Some on the sides have two options to either choose from or use both prompts. But the idea of the challenge is to use the prompt given and work your creativity to its max to make it work.

I also figured this last dice could be rolled twice for maximum creativity spark.

This was quite fun to do and I'm excited to find out what kind of creative OCs I can come up with! The whole point of the dice was to help you along with prompts ro make you think and help break you out of your art block.

You could totally use these for backgrounds/landscapes as well. The prompts I used were a mixture of things I really like drawing on a character and prompts I probably would never have tried otherwise. But trying new things is part of having fun!

Anyone who's interested is more then welcome to create your own OC Dice Generator using my prompts or your own. It would be amazing to see the art blocks slowly chipped away with these little blocks of prompts!
