Somehow found my way back to Rocket Monkeys. Man, that show was a lot of chaos.

Obscure Animation Subject #119: Rocket Monkeys

WHAT EVEN IS THIS?! This is a Teletoon show produced by Atomic Cartoons and aired on Nickelodeon in the US. This show is annoying and never seems to shut up.

It’s about space monkeys Gus and Wally as they fly through different planets to fight villains along with their robot friend Yay-OK who oddly resembles BMO from Adventure Time…

For a start, the animation looks stiff and choppy, being produced by Atomic Cartoons who also produced Johnny Test at that time, yeah the show with the whips, and many of the character designs either look bland at best or ugly as worst. The main characters are obnoxious assholes and they torture every villain and creature they come across especially Lord Peel, the main antagonist of the series and they are very similar in personality and constantly flip flop between personalities like Gus is supposedly the smart one yet he acts stupid like his brother. The plots are also very cliche, for examples, the character becoming assertive, the bland babysitting plot and JEALOUSY PLOTS, which is the worst plot you want to use for a cartoon. Don’t get me started on the humor as the show likes to cut to random stock images of monkeys (like with what modern Family Guy does with celebrities) and there’s also fart and butt jokes and a whole episode revolving around the characters covered in feces, not joking…

Positives? Well, there’s only two likable characters Yay-OK and Lord Peel as they scold Gus and Wally for their actions but that’s it.

Overall, this show is a mind-numbing and grating cartoon that we all can forget existed. I recommend avoiding this one.
