Just found out one of my favourite musicians is opening for Taylor Swift! I love Sofia Isella’s music and I’ve recommended it to my Swiftie classmates before but none of them would listen to Sofia Isella’s music. So this is just me saying that I knew her before seeing her open for Melanie Martinez in June. Just me saying I’ve been one of her og fans.

TBH I think it's telling that the most hard-to-please nerds who want to farm negativity are having to nitpick the trailer to still be negative about the show.
Like look. I ain't saying One Piece live action is gonna be a masterpiece out the gate. I have a feeling season 1 is going to have some season 1 growing pains, seeing what works and what doesn't. BUT. I think it will be good and (perhaps more importantly) FUN in ways true to the manga, and if it can get a second or third season it could become a masterpiece. It has potential to be great.
But I swear to god if I hear one more person saying, in disappointment, the gum-gum pistol looks "goofy" and "rubbery" LIKE MY DUDE DO WE READ THE SAME MANGA.

cw: fluff/comfort-ish although it's an overall mild conversation. mention of kidnapping.
Luffy is acting strange.
A little strange might be the baseline for him, of course, but what you’ve noticed in the past 12 hours or so is a bit different than his normal flavor of strange - he’s being odd when it comes to you.
Your shadow as always, but oddly stiff, Luffy has been navigating around you far too carefully, as if you were to shatter the moment he touched you. His hands hover gently over any part of your body but he avoids touching you unnecessarily; you notice he’s hesitant to hold your hand, and from the moment you woke up this morning, disoriented slightly by the sudden rock of the ship by an unexpectedly large wave, you noticed his modest distance, his forehead gently pressed against the back of your head and his arm loosely draped over your hip, rather than coiled around you like a snake.
Careful, gentle.
It’s so unlike him it makes you nervous.
“Luffy,” you start finally, once the two of you have a quiet moment, hanging back in the kitchen. Everyone has left by now for their own pursuits after dinner - a few comments about Luffy’s appetite being slightly less terrifying than usual notwithstanding, he was relatively normal. But he’s lingered, crossing his legs on his chair in that familiar pose of his. You didn’t rise, Robin being kind enough to help clear all the dishes, even the half-eaten meal before you (again unthinkable with Luffy around).
The longer you think about it, perhaps the two of you were left alone here on purpose.
Luffy doesn’t respond immediately to the sound of your voice and you repeat his name again, letting your head rest on his shoulder. You can tell he has something to say but is unsure what, and coax him gently to speak by running your hand down the length of his forearm, interlacing your fingers together once you reach the hand.
He turns slowly to you, and the look on his face is apologetic more than anything, surprising for a man who limits emotions more complex than anger and joy in his expression.
“I’m happy you’re safe,” he says, simply.
Yesterday you were kidnapped on your stroll through the city, while Luffy had deviated off your path for a moment to peer at all things shiny and good-smelling. You didn’t immediately follow, and used to Luffy’s lazy but alarming practical yoinks of your body in space, snapping towards his side, you weren’t too automatically surprised when your feet suddenly left the ground.
Until you were face to face with an individual that was decidedly not Luffy at all.
The aftermath of all of that was settled quickly, a flurry of fists and yells quickly resolving the issue, but that wasn’t the part that lingers in Luffy’s psyche.
“I wasn’t in any danger, really,” you insist, and you mean it, not even a singular bruise on your skin, or a hair out of place.
You squeeze Luffy’s hand then smile at him brightly, trying to raise his spirits, even if only in the way the moon reflects back the sun’s shine. He knows it’s true even if it doesn’t necessarily fix things.
He twists his mouth to the side.
“That’s not the problem, is it?” you ask, sensing his continued discomfort. “You can’t expect things like that to not happen, we all have bounties, and-”
“You thought it was me.”
You blink, taken aback, and Luffy lets go of your hand for a moment as he turns fully to face you.
“I came out right when you got grabbed, and you didn’t scream at first until you saw it wasn’t me.”
You pause, letting his implication sit in.
“Luffy, what are you trying to say?” you ask.
He pauses for a moment, mulling the words in his mouth again, and your eyebrow furrows.
“You’ve said I was too rough with you before, but I didn’t think I was that bad.”
You open your mouth and close it, considering the fact that you wouldn’t be surprised if he threw you off a cliff with the promise to catch you at the bottom, as it wouldn’t help.
“I trust you, Luffy,” you say instead, unexpected Gum-Gum Rockets aside. “It’s okay if you get excited, I know that you love me and would never hurt me.”
He pauses for a moment, eyeing you as if to detect any softening of the truth, and perhaps you are smoothing over the truth, but you are telling the truth.
The rowdy man before you, a little too strong for his own good, perhaps passionate as ever, never means to hurt you, and loves you terribly.
“I’m sturdier than you think,” you remind him. With that, you offer him a kiss on the cheek, which warms him, and he’s quick to take your own face in his two hands, the grin back on his face.
“I’ll be more careful,” he still promises anyway.
“Sure, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be a little playful at all,” you remind him, your hands gently covering his.
“I want you to feel safe with me,” he finally says, in a soft voice and you offer him back the biggest widest smile.
“There’s no safer place than when I'm with you.”

Luffy would ruin every last one of the undercover missions because as soon as he sees you, no disguise of yours fooling him, he would wave at you excitedly, calling your name and saying, “cool costume!” the marines surrounding him looking between him and you in confusion and then realization as they saw who was within their grasps, not only the straw hat captain but a crew member too. Luffy paid them no mind, his excitement only growing as he stretched his arm to wrap around your waist and pull you towards him, you hit his chest with a thump, your stolen marine hat falling off your head. he laughs delightfully and you cannot help the blush that tents your cheeks, the growing smile on your face. the marines surrounding you both said something about surrendering but luffy was preoccupied with peppering kisses all over your forehead, cheeks, nose, and neck. how could he not? it’s been hours since he saw you, touched you, kissed you. he kept praising you, saying how awesome it was that you went undercover with the marines. as you told him how you did it a marine's gun gets pointed at your head and his smile turns to a scowl and he remembers where you both are. he punches the marine threatening your life so hard his body dents in the ceiling, then he stretches his leg and spins in a circle, taking out the rest of the marines surrounding you both. he turns to you and smiles, "let's go!" you hold onto his shoulders and he Gum-Gum Rocket's right out the window. you both laughing as you run back to the Sunny.

SITTING PRETTY: LUFFY x Y/N
(cw: alcohol, kitsune, east blue crew, yes i was imagining the opla cast but so were you, kissing, sitting in someone’s lap)
(a/n: this was so fun. smut maybe coming soon? we’ll see)
Songs: “Hotel” by Claire Rosinkranz
words: 1.2k
Luffy is staring at you.
He’s sitting across the campfire from you, sipping a glass of milk through a straw. You have your own moscow mule in hand, the copper mug sweating with cold condensation.
The air smells like smoke.
“So!” Luffy speaks, twirling his straw around in his drink. He slurps it loudly before continuing, “Let’s play a game!”
He smiles around at the rest of the crew, who are all in their own various states of intoxication. It’s been a long night, after several days at sea with no islands in sight. Everyone is a little bored, a little stressed, and more than a little in need of blowing off some steam. Nami shrugs.
“Sure, captain. What’s up?”
Luffy leans forward, wicked smirk painting his charming features. You stare down into your melted ice and muddled mint leaves.
“Let’s play truth or dare!”
Zoro sighs, but leans forward too. Sanji and Usopp also perk up. The Merry creaks in the waves as she sails. The ocean laps at her sides, soothing and peaceful in the summer night air. The campfire sparks up with a flare.
Luffy slurps his milk.
“What are the stakes?” Nami asks, adjusting in her seat, her boots slung over one another as she leans back. Usopp is fiddling with his slingshot.
Zoro shrugs, “Drink if you won’t take a dare, drink twice if you won’t take a truth.”
“So, we’re trying to outmatch each other? Get stuff we won’t wanna do?”
“Sorta,” Zoro says, “S’alright with everyone?”
“Sounds fun,” you admit, downing your glass before handing it off to Sanji. He’s a sucker for your sparkly eyes and fluffy tails. Your ears flick back and forth, excited. Nervous.
Sanji hurries back with a refill.
He straightens his suit jacket before sitting back down. The indigo night washes over him with a flattering, velvet softness. You wonder what shade of blue his eyes are, up close.
Luffy clears his throat.
“Sooo, who wants to go first?” His shining eyes scan the crew, and you flick up a tail (or two). He smiles, and takes a sip of his kid’s drink.
You sigh. “Truth,” you say, staring at Nami. You figure she’s gonna strike the worst, so might as well get it over with first. She stares at you, flicking her eyes up and down your scrappy frame. She arches an auburn brow.
“So, Kitty,” she sips her cider, and Sanji shifts in his seat. “Have you ever had sex before?”
She’s smiling, devilish, as you snort through your drink. She laughs as you cough, orange hair swaying in the soft breeze. Everyone else stutters and laughs, and Zoro mutters something about “starting off strong.” You swallow, sucking your teeth as you swirl melted ice around your drink.
“Yes.”
Everyone sighs out in relief, tension removed for a second of release.
Your eyes flick up to hers.
“Your turn.”
She stares back at you: a challenge.
“Dare.”
You shrug, mouth turned down, “I dare you to say when the last time you had sex was.” You stare at her glare, as she clocks you basically just gave her a truth anyway. She sniffs.
“Last week.”
“Liar!” You say, and she giggles. You shove the bottle of tequila closer to her, and she swallows what is certainly more than just one shot.
“Your turn,” she says to Zoro, who glances at Luffy for his prompt.
Luffy stares at the floor, now-empty glass held loosely in slender fingers. “What…is your favorite color?”
“I didn’t say truth, captain,” Zoro snorts, “Truth or dare, Luffy.”
“Dare?”
Sanji sighs, and Usopp says “we might as well go with it,” so Zoro sighs and starts to think of something to dare his already-reckless captain with. He settles on something silly, and tame.
“I dare you to slingshot back and forth across the ship five times.”
Happy to be moving, your hyperactive friend shoots up and starts gum-gum rocketing across the ship with no small amount of shouting. You swirl the mint leaves in your drink. “Your turn,” you murmur to Usopp, who gives Sanji a glance.
“Truth or dare?” The chef asks, his own glass of wine clutched in his delicate fist. It’s as dark as the sea.
“Truth.”
“What do Kaya’s lips taste like?”
The group ooo’s in scandalous delight, all eyes on the sniper as he stares down into his drink. “Pass,” he says, and takes a huge slurp. It dribbles down his chin. “Who’s turn is next?”
“Sanji,” you say, turning to him with a smile, “Truth or dare, handsome?”
He blushes at your pet name, and someone coughs. The blond boy licks his lips. His eyes meet yours, reflecting the fire’s red heat.
“Dare.”
“Kiss my cheek,” you preen, tails flicking around you. You bare the side of your face to him, sitting pretty by the campfire. Your scrappy jeans have stitched-on patches, and your crop top hangs loose around your frame. A single pendant hangs around your neck, and your hair is twisted into messy braids. You knock your steel-toed boots together.
Sanji hums, peaceful, as he delicately scoots toward you. He’s already sitting next to you, tall legs and broad shoulders bumping into yours as he settles closer in. His hand is slightly cool as it graces the side of your neck. “Be still, pretty,” he whispers, just for you, as he presses a slow smooch against your cheek. He bites it, playfully, and you swat him away with a fearsome blush.
Usopp giggles, and Nami snorts into her cider again. Zoro and Luffy are both silent. You swallow, and cast about the crew for someone else’s turn. “Is it me again?” You ask, and Zoro nods.
“Truth or dare?” He says, sake almost drained from his bottle. The air stills, sudden breeze gone quiet as you sit together. You curl two tails around yourself, petting the soft, arctic fur in your lap. It scratches against the striped patch on the side of your left hip.
“Truth.”
“Nope,” Zoro says, swigging his sake, “Truth is boring. You’re doing a dare. Sit in the lap of the person you’d most like to have sex with.”
Everyone gasps, except for you.
Your eyes burn with smoke, staring down the swordsman across the crackling flames. Sparks shoot up between you, orange and hazy in the moonlight. Something thumps against the ship; a fish or a shark that swims away silently.
You stand.
Sanji shifts, still close to you from his kiss. He scratches the fabric of his slacks above his left knee. His shoes are shiny and black beneath the stars. You step over them, carefully.
And you make your way across the circle, slowly as a shark circling prey.
“Sorry,” you whisper, standing in front of the captain who saved you, “Is this seat taken?”
He stares at you.
His breath comes ragged and hazy, as he sets his glass down to make room. His hands are sweaty, so he wipes them off on his shorts as you stand beside his hip. He leans back, slightly, to let you sit side-saddle across his legs. He shifts on the deck so he’s cross-legged, and you take your seat with a searing blush. Your ass fits neatly into the space between his crisscrossed legs, his heat spilling into your body as he wraps his arms around your waist.
He nuzzles into your cheek, his soft hair tickling your jaw. “Sleeping in my hammock tonight,” he whispers, his lips in your hair, “Captain’s orders.”

☆ STARS, SNORES & SAKE, feat. roronoa zoro — after a long day of celebrations, all zoro wants is to spend some quiet time with his lover.
contents. gender neutral reader. established relationship, fluff. use of y/n + pet names (zoro calls reader baby, you call him birthday boy). zoro birthday special! ♡ word count. 1.4k
notes. guess who’s back from the dead… that’s right it’s me! and just in time for zoro’s birthday too ♡ (watch me disappear after posting this) lowk zoro might be ooc but who cares i just want soft zoro maaaan. i haven’t written in so long but i really hope you guys enjoy! follows & reblogs are appreciated!
Tumblr media
ZORO WAS EXHAUSTED. it had been seven in the morning when he’d been ambushed by the straw hats with party poppers and balloons as he was on his way towards the crow's nest for his daily morning workout. all day, he’d been surrounded by noise, confetti, and luffy gum-gum-rocketing into him every five minutes. now it was nine in the evening, and the crew was still partying the night away.
he didn't understand why they made such a big deal out of celebrating it, really. his birthday was never that important in the past, so why should it be now? but he supposed that everything was different here than in shimotsuki village, out on the grand line.
well, at least they had booze.
he picked up a new bottle of sake from the counter and made his way back over to the table, avoiding luffy and usopp chasing each other around the kitchen with chopsticks stuck up their noses. he’s surprised how they still had so much energy after devouring the feast that sanji had made for dinner. (actually, he was more surprised that the shitty cook spent so much effort on the food, considering it was him they were celebrating.)
he couldn't help but glance over at you, who was chatting with robin across the table. as he sat down, your eyes met his for a brief moment, and a silent conversation was exchanged between the two of you.
i'm tired of this. come with me?
give me just a little longer, 'kay? wanna finish this piece of cake.
he sighed and made himself comfortable in his chair, his eyes never leaving you. taking a few sips from his bottle, once glancing at nami across the table, who was staring at him.
what? he mouthed.
nothing, she mouthed back.
as soon as zoro saw you eat the last bite of your cake, he stood up and and was beside you at the table before you could even put the fork down.
“come to the deck with me.” he left the question mark out of his sentence; he knew you would come whether he asked you or not, anyway.
you giggled and pushed back out of your chair, taking his awaiting hand. “sure, birthday boy.”
“don’t call me that.” zoro grumbled at the name, but there was just a tiny hint of a smile on his face.
“oi, zoro! where are you and y/n going?” luffy asked, mouth half-full of meat.
“out for some quiet time,” the swordsman replied. “you guys are too noisy. you can have the rest of the cake if ya want, captain.”
luffy laughed in approval as zoro turned away, ignoring the cook’s grumble of “ungrateful marimo” as he made his way out the kitchen holding his bottle of sake in one hand and your intertwined fingers in the other.
the smell of sea salt was fresh on the breeze. gentle waves rocked against the hull of the ship, and the stars peeked out in the clear night sky.
“perfect weather for stargazing tonight, isn't it?” you asked him, the sound of your shoes clacking against the wooden deck of the sunny.
zoro nodded, finding a comfortable place to sit at the bow of the ship by the sunny's masthead. he patted the empty space next to him, which you gladly settled down into.
"finally, some peace and quiet," he sighed, arm instinctively curling around your waist. “i love the crew, but they’re noisy as hell.”
you nodded your head against his shoulder, listening to the sound of the waves. then suddenly you jumped up to your boyfriend's surprise with an "oh! i almost forgot." you turned and smiled mischievously at him. "wait here for a minute."
before he could answer, you were scurrying off towards your shared cabin. zoro exhaled, taking a swig from his bottle of alcohol. you were always like this, spontaneous in everything you did. he'd stopped asking you what you were up to a long time ago. most of the time it was just you surprising him with things, anyway. he figured it was probably the same this time too.
before you long you came back up to him, holding a paper gift bag with a green ribbon tied around the handles. "here," you smiled down at him, and he swore he was seeing the sun. "it's your present. it isn't much, but i hope you like it!"
"for me?" he took the bag tentatively as you sat back down next to him, wondering what it could possibly be. he wasn't one for gifts, really; but if it was from you it was sure to be something thoughtful. he started pulling things from inside the bag; there was a fancy bottle of sake; he was sure it had to have been expensive. and there was something else. a full-color drawing of himself, held in a wooden picture frame.
"when did you draw this?" zoro asked. he already knew it was you who made it; the art style was the same as the doodles you liked to draw of him for fun.
"a few days ago, when you were training," you replied. "i sat n' watched, remember? i was drawing the whole time. i tried to be sneaky about it, but i still think you noticed."
now that he thought about it, he had seen you sketching something in your notebook when he was training. he thought you were simply passing the time with him, but it was really for a different purpose.
"well, it looks just like me." he was impressed at the likeness of the drawing to himself; you'd captured his intense stare, the miniscule droplets of sweat rolling down his face. you'd even drawn the metallic sheen on his swords reflecting in the sunlight.
"are you sure you like it? it looks okay, right?" you asked him nervously. you had spent extra time afterwards making sure it looked just like him, and even more time perfecting the colors and shading.
zoro chuckled and leaned over to kiss your forehead. "more than okay, baby. it's beautiful. thank you." he pointed to the unopened bottle of sake. "and thanks for this too. i'm sure it must've been expensive."
you shook your head. "not really. i just borrowed a bit from robin, that's all."
he laughed. "at least ya didn't borrow from nami. that witch would probably be all up in your face to pay her back already."
"yeah, i guess." you leaned against his shoulder, and it was quiet for a while; just you, him, and the gentle lullaby of the ocean waves.
"i'm glad you like it, though." you whispered after a while. "i was worried…"
"the hell you'd have to be worried about?" zoro straightened up to look at you then. "you know i don't give a damn about what you get me, as long as it's from you. though… next year, i wouldn’t mind if you drew the two of us. so i can look at it when i miss you."
you blushed. "zoro, you see me almost every day." then suddenly, you laughed. "wait a minute, is the hard-as-steel swordsman of the strawhats being romantic?"
it was his turn to blush. "i don't know what the hell you're talking about, you idiot." he cleared his throat, then continued. "but really, y/n. don't worry so much 'bout these things, got it? you know i keep all your gifts, anyway."
“okay.” you kissed him under the pale moonlight, with just the moon and the stars to bear witness to it. his lips tasted like sea and sake and home. “happy birthday, ‘zo. i love you.”
“love you too, baby.”
you made yourself comfortable in the warmth of zoro's arms, gazing up at the bright stars above. before you knew it, the rocking of the ship and the soft lull of your boyfriend's chest was enough to send you drifting off to sleep.
zoro sighed contently, the sound of your soft snores peaceful in his ears. careful not to disturb you from your rest, he stood up. carrying you with one arm and holding your gifts to him in the other, he slowly walked back towards your room.
he was never one for birthdays, but you made them worth celebrating.

On the one hand I love short king Luffy and his brick shit house boyfriend but on the other hand I think it would be hilarious if Luffy gets a late growth spurt that puts him at like eight and a half fucking feet, right around the same height as his dad and gramps, but absolutely nothing about his and Zoro’s dynamic changes. Luffy becomes one of those big ass dogs that still thinks it’s a lap dog and Zoro has to endure his giant husband climbing on him and tackling him and hanging off him like he’s a jungle gym because Luffy Refuses to understand that he now has three feet and damn near a hundred pounds on Zoro and he should maybe stop acting like he’s a cat and Zoro is his perch. I also think it would be very funny to graft Luffy’s personality into such a big ass man. Let me see this loud, affectionate fool gum-gum rocket his long-suffering first mate into orbit. It’ll be Luffy and his “Sorry, Zoro” against Zoro’s “I swear I’m gonna cut this guy someday” all the way to the end. And I think that’s beautiful.

sabo has some catching up to do, mostly on the new ways luffy's learned to create near death experiences. frankly it's shocking that ace survived luffy learning to perfect gum gum rocket, considering luffy's notably poor aim as a kid and the fact he was definitely practicing in a densely wooded area
