I just noticed you have Ghost (and possibly Hollow and any other vessels?) communicate in sign language. I'm not the only one now who thinks this as well.

Yep! It doesn’t come up a lot since i’m not usually having them talk in many of the more serious comics I do, but it does come up in less serious ones where they have dialogue - they’re making various signs to indicate they’re speaking and the text is bracketed ((like this)) to indicate it’s not verbal communication.

I think the other vessels would communicate in sign language as well, yes! They’re all mute and they seem to learn pretty quickly, so I imagine once someone else or the Knight taught them they’d all sort of start using it.

(For something a bit closer to canon, though, the Hollow Knight is someone I tend to interpret as being extremely literate but having very limited communication, as I imagine anything that could have affected their ‘purity’ was heavily restricted and controlled (and also the Pale King seemed like the type of person to want to keep an eye on them every second of the day). They can read and their vocabulary is extensive, but they have little way of expressing themselves since they were discouraged from learning how.)

So what be going on with Sweets? I JUST found your blog and am trying to catch up with the story and all.

Oh, boy. Strap in, Weaver Mun is going to tell you a tale.

Cut underneath cause it’s DENSE

Sweets and her brother, Bonbon, where a part of a traveling bardic troupe from Pharloom. While on their travels, her and her two wives and her son contracted a plague from a Higher Being called the Godspiral. In order to save her family; Sweets takes them to Hallownest on rumors that a possible cure could be found in the Teacher’s Archives.

The only problem with the Godspiral is that it effected bugs differently. Wasp (Bee wife) became hyperfixated on her art to the point where she couldn’t stop. While Kos (Snail wife) loss her mind entirely and was in a vegetative state. Sweets, on the other hand, was sound of mind, but her insides where quietly literally into liquid. However, she was the only hope to save her small family.

Shenanigans ensue which eludes:

Befriending everyone she could find (including every single Vessel, Quirrel, and bugs that she probably shouldn’t be friends with)

Falling in love with multiple people

Hot springs

Finally getting to the Archives and not being about to read Monomon’s shorthand

The Radiance pissing of the Godspiral so much that it just...murdered her family out of spite

Depression

An attempt at depression sex which ended so disastrously that it put her best friend in a coma for a week

And finally getting so sick that she was offered to become a member of the Grimm Troupe just to save her life

But the ride doesn’t stop there. After having a Dream Fight with her depressive self and coming out victorious (aka becoming a member of the Grimm Troupe). Minus her memories. Everyone she knew just kinda...weren’t her friends (or went missing) for a bit because they were grieving for the ‘old’ Sweets.

Quirrel (who became her lover after her fam died) gave in to the Radiance. She tried to save him with fire. He’s missing. Spirals (one of her BFFs) also got Infected and her ass beat by the Traitor Lord. Caretaker (the friends with benefits) basically ignored her.

All of this isn’t good when you are a brand new member of the Grimm Troupe cause there’s a high likelihood that you’d just become a Grimmkin. Luckily that didn’t happen cause Sweets made some more friends, Quirrel forgave her and she got some of her memories back. Yaaaay.

And that’s more or less where the story is now? Sorry about the word vomit, but Hollow Knight: Godseed never really started out as a thing I was going to share publicly. Most of the backstory with her family and the Godspiral where just little one off chapters I was writing until I...made this blog. It didn’t have an ending until I started RPing her. I’m super happy that people seem to like this poor bug. I’m really proud of her.

Not much I find is of interest to me, though I did find some barrels of aged wine. It was still good, too! As for the sunken ships, I bring them home for the Spawnlings. They love them! A sunken ship with some holes rotted away will keep the little guys busy for ages!

You inspired me to start a Starbound ask blog. That's the easy part. The hardest part is deciding which race I wanna go with! @A@ I'm torn between Human, Apex, and a few modded races (Mainly Avikan, Felin and Sergal).

It made me quite happy to hear this~ If I inspired someone, I’ve done my job. …it is kind of tricky to decide. Personally, I would welcome more Apex. They don’t seem to popular with the fandom and deserve more love in my opinion ^.^;; Or you could go with human? I’ve never seen one of them as the focus of a Starbound blog, which is a shame, considering the potential. Good luck with it, whatever race you pick! Drop me a line sometime and I’d be happy to introduce my little band to some new friends

I feel bad for Chara, but at the same time I don't blame them, especially their motives in the future. Anyway, I feel that their colony is very cult-like, correct? Hence why they claim the other Humans are considered "rotten" to them?

Yeeah, as is the usual case with these things, the comic’s just an attempt to explain their behavior, not excuse it. 

And yup, pretty much. It’s sectioned off from the rest of the human village for that reason.
