((Mun: It's sad that this blog is going away so soon after I founded it... But I am done with Tumblr and all its bullshit. Was fun while it lasted.... *Sighs*))
Good Bye for good, Tumblr. All good things must come to an end.
Well that just tears it. I am done with Tumblr. This site already pisses me off enough, but all NSFW being removed? I have had perfectly safe and harmless images flagged. And I have a NSFW blog.
I am leaving this hell site for good. It was a great run… The ask blogs were fun. My art blog was fun. But… I am done.
If you want to contact me, my Discord is ArthaDemon#6123

I am not really anywhere else, but I am looking for a good Tumblr alternative for blogging. Pillowfort looks nice… But I really don’t like that you have to pay and wait to join. Many of my friends will not have the money, and the site is down anyway.
@staff How can you be so stupid? Taking something away you have allowed for years is only going to destroy your site and drive off all your users.
There’s making a mistake… And there’s being so goddamn stupid that your brain probably imploded.
Way to go… All my favorite artists and friends are leaving and I am leaving too.

I mated with a human by the name of Sara... in my smallest form, of course. She couldn’t have handled me, otherwise. She happened to have a fragment of the Star Dragon Ao within her... and instead of hosting Spawn, she gave birth to a true daughter, Cthylla. She isn’t much taller than a human in her smallest form, and doesn’t get as large as me. She comes to visit from time to time. She named her after a story written about me and a daughter I had... though that Cthylla never existed. Many stories have been writteh about me over time that aren’t quite true... but I don’t mind too much. ((This version of Cthylla belongs to @robaschi, and appears in the RP we have featuring Cthulhu and various other Outer Gods.))

Many mysterious recordings are my calls, actually! I am the largest creature that inhabits the sea when I take my full size. I do believe that my shadow was even caught by human cameras once or twice. I use these calls to communicate with my Spawn, and sometimes... just to keep myself entertained. Without any others like me around, I do get rather bored at times.

((#2 and #3 are taken, but #1 is still up for grabs, so feel free to try for it!))
I am hoping to learn more about the world outside of my ocean home, but I am rather conspicuous to say the least, especially with my fearsome reputation.
As such, I am seeking three beings who can give one of my spawn a good home, so that the Spawn can relay information to me. If you would like to bring one of these Spawn home, you must show me that you can properly take care of them. They eat fish, and need a source of water so perhaps keeping them in your bath tub until they are large enough to get water themselves may be a good idea. They are quite hardy, though, so don’t woirry about doing it wrong! These ones are special, and they will not get any bigger than your average human. They will retain their softness as they grow. ((This is a Draw to Adopt! To adopt one of these little Cthulhu Spawn, draw your character taking care of the spawn and send it to my main Tumblr @artha-amberose as a submission OR reblog this post with your entry attached! I will judge the entry based on skill, effort, and chemistry between the character and the little Spawn! I will ALSO allow literature/written entries! Literature will need to be at least 800 words to qualify, and images will do better if colored. Once you have the Spawn, you may name it, draw it, add it to your blog, give it a personality… whatever you want to do with it! Have fun! ))

Not only do I accept hugs, I give them, too! There is plenty of me to go around, even at my smallest size. ((Thanks! I love how I draw him too, honestly! He was hard to figure out at first, but now I just love how I can make him expressive despite his very alien face x3))

Not much I find is of interest to me, though I did find some barrels of aged wine. It was still good, too! As for the sunken ships, I bring them home for the Spawnlings. They love them! A sunken ship with some holes rotted away will keep the little guys busy for ages!

Cthulhu: Time for me and time for you humans goes quite differently, but it does seem that my Spawnlings reach maturity at roughly the same rate as humans. Perhaps a little faster? I haven’t had much of a chance to compare them. They seem to mature... I do believe in about 12 to 13 human years. Early years are much quicker. They learn to swim immediately upon hatching, and within hours they are able to walk, and a few days they can flutter about.

~Cthulhu motions towards one of his matured Spawns holding a wiggly Spawnling by the scruff, said wiggling Spawnling squeaking indignantly because it wanted to go off and explore but the adult stopped it from getting lost!~ Spawn do not have enough genetic material to successfully reproduce. While they do have intact and functioning organs, they do not have the urge nor instinct to try to breed. Even if they did, they are unable to produce any offspring whatsoever. I couldn’t allow them to breed even if I wanted to, as they are physically incapable. Because of their lack of hormones, they are usually quite docile. Only those that rise from my breeding with another like me are capable of producing offspring of their own. But this is because they are not Spawn. They carry new genes, a combination of two parents. The Spawn just carry bits and pieces of my own genes. They are capable of coupling and even feeling pleasure, but, unlike creatures that reproduce, there is never a real need there. They do it for fun, sometimes, but it’s not something that is ever first and foremost on their minds. The mature Spawn usually help me keep track of and care for hatchling Spawnlings as well as other tasks around R’lyeh.

I will be as tasteful as possible, for my more... innocent followers. I will leave out the grisly details. All of my kind have both organs, fully functioning. For highly advanced and evolved creatures, gender dimorphism does eventually go away entirely. Humans are not at that level yet, but there is some signs of this advancement among them that I have seen thus far. Gender is soon to become naught but a concern of the past, I think. Of course, the time scale we follow is quite different, so soon by my standards could be thousands of years by yours. While one of us may identify as either male or female... it’s really no big deal to us. I, for example, appear as and identify as male, but I do have fully functioning female parts as well. Either way, we have the ability to both lay, and even incubate eggs, as well as fertilize them. My eggs, at least, are soft and jelly-like, and quite small, especially when compared to myself. I can choose to incubate them myself, but such is tiring on my resources so I much prefer a willing host. Creating Spawn does not require a partner. I both provide the eggs... and fertilize them. This creates my Spawn, who are smaller and less powerful than I am, as they only get a small bit of my genetic material. They often look like me, though their color and body type can vary widely. While they can be just about any color, I find blues and greens are the most common. Generally, I will choose a host. They can also be hidden away, but they take three times as long to incubate that way, and are at greater risk of being found and eaten by some ocean predator, or never hatching. Incubating them myself is also an option, but this does get rather tiresome after a time. I find humans make the best hosts, as they take half the time to incubate eggs as other sapient species. In short, the host will take the eggs into their own womb, incubate them, then be drawn to water when they are close to hatching. Once they reach some water, the eggs will come back out and hatch. The hatchling Spawn are tiny compared to me, but they are drawn to follow me, even if they do tend to wander off due to their natural curiosity. A side effect of Sapience, you see, so I like to see them being curious and even helping each other and cooperating. I usually create between four and fifteen spawn per clutch, but the average is between six and twelve... depending on the host, of course. Stronger hosts can handle more eggs. Spawn are unable to reproduce, and while they each have their own personality, they are instinctively drawn to me as their progenitor. They are not bound to my will, and are free to be who they want to be, but they know that I take care of them and watch over them. They do not have the power my kind have, and they grew much faster. True reproduction, as in creating an offspring instead of a Spawn, is achieved quite similarly. Myself, or whoever I am breeding with, will place eggs into our own womb. They are, in fact, produced in a separate organ. Once there, they can be fertilized by our chosen mate. It’s useful, really. Any pregnancy has to be intentional, so if there are not the resources to raise a new offspring, there will be no new offspring.
When they are a true offspring, not just a spawn, we can only incubate one at a time. No matter how many eggs one starts with, only one will survive to hatching when they are an actual offspring. Our relationship with our Spawn is... something like a queen ant and her workers, only each one of them has their own sapience and they are not bound to our will, and will not die if we are not there. They are capable of living on their own, even if they are instinctively drawn to us. They are able to speak, communicate, have emotions and thoughts and opinions, and many of us feel our spawn are our children. Especially myself, as they are all I truly have left after my original reality was destroyed. I am the progenitor of my race, a name which does not translate to your tongue, and I will not be bringing them back. There are other Old Ones, but each one has their own workings. No two of us are the same. One thing that holds common among all Old Ones is that we are all capable of creating Spawn. We have no need to reproduce at this point. Our reality is gone. Earth belongs to the Humans, not to us. So even if I had the opportunity to breed with another like me, I would not. My Spawn are good enough. They are like children to me, and they can not rise to take over the world even if they wanted to, for they can not breed. To truly make a dent, they must be able to breed so I am in direct control of their population.
#Cthulhu#Answer#Reproduction#Science Sorta?#I did kinda logic stuff#I know that Lovecraftian creatures are supposed to be horrors that follow no known laws#but I am taking a lot of that with a grain of salt and explaining it away as he just did not understand what he saw#So to him#Cthulhu and the other creatures may seem inconceivable to human minds#But they still have rules of nature they followed in their own reality#You can ask more questions for more explanations! :D

A long time ago, before my corruption and subsequent long slumber, I was allied with a human tribe.. I believe they were in a coastal area of Africa? I am not exactly sure. There are no signs of them that I can see since Awakening. Not even ruins, but time does erase so much. They were a peaceful group of dark-skinned humans that I watched over. They thought of me as the God of the Sea, and during Midsummer they would throw a special celebration, believing that my favor would bring them bountiful fishing throughout the year. They brought me one of their finest cattle as a sacrifice. There was a great feast, with singing and dancing and laughing. They even built a stone pedestal for me to sit on, and when I did they all seemed very excited about it. I took notice of many statues of my likeness being crafted. It was a long time ago, so they weren’t as advanced as humans today, but they had agriculture, raised livestock, and had a rich and colorful culture. All in all, I found it very enjoyable. I would get something other than fish and squid to eat, and after their celebrations I would take my smaller size and interact with them directly. At the time, I had an amulet that allowed my power to not overwhealm them. I don’t know what became of them when I was corrupted... but many of the dealings of the cult that was active during my slumber remind me of their celebrations, albeit in a twisted, dark and dangerous shadow of what they once were.
It went from cooking a large cow in a pit and giving me the warm, fragrant and well-seasoned meat to sacrificing living humans as if their blood would appease me. So many innocent lives lost, because of them. I find that rather sad that the innocent village who worshiped me as their God of the Sea, twisted into a dangerous cult that only served to further my terrible reputation. I feel responsible for them, even if my corruption, and theirs, was not ever in my intentions.

The version of me many people know of... is that of a vicious and ferocious monster, destroying everything in my path. A loyal cult of followers who did human sacrifices, and did terrible damage. That was never my true self, and most of the memories are foggy. Even so, not a day goes by that I do not suffer from the memories and effects of what I once was. I believe it will take some time before the fear starts to die down, because what I was, I was for centuries. The reason I slumbered was a moment of clarity, to avoid the Evil Beyond from doing further damage using me. Even my followers, the humans I allied myself with, twisted into a vicious and dangerous cult. They are the only humans who approach me, but their motives are cruel and dark. I believe that they now follow the Evil Beyond who corrupted me. And if I let them get close... well... that won’t be good.

I would try various human foods, but humans are so much smaller than me that it would take a lot of their food to sustain me. While I do tire of them from time to time, giant squids are a very good food source and breed prolifically. They aren’t too hard to keep fed, either. I have heard that humans eat squids as well? They call them Calamari.

I can’t say I know much about this Flying Spaghetti Monster, but it does sound rather tasty! Spaghetti is a food eaten by humans, yes? I am rather curious to try it, as humans are very creative with their food. As for a relationship, I haven’t really been in one. I’ve had a few small flings, but nothing recent. There aren’t many like me left, after all. I much prefer a bit of fun without all that Commitment kerfuffle.

Cthulhu: I don’t mind them! They are much older than mankind, having gained the use of tools back in the Cambrian, but they keep to themselves. They don’t fear me as humans do, and if I take my smaller form are often quite happy to be hosts for my spawn. They tend to hang out in R’lyeh, with my Spawn.
