Re: Chloe Bailey’s new record In Pieces

So I saw this little think piece on Facebook and you know what… I can’t help but saying that this person is actually 100% accurate. I don’t know who is responsible for the image not that I don’t think she can do whatever she wants to do I like women to do whatever they want to do especially when it comes to women in rap but I just feel like she’s way more creative than this. I feel like this album is limiting and it doesn’t give the people who are her real fans and who are fans of Chloe and Halle any of the level of cerebral engagement and fun and natural beauty that the Chloe and Halle had on their record.

I feel like she dumbed herself down for trending content rather than actually exploring what she really wanted to say, musically. Most of her fans don’t give a fuck who “their man is fucking” because we been on Dreeezy FDN time, and we’ve been listening to Beyoncé and Ciara, and we’re holding out for a hero, not an abuser or a waste youte who’s going to do us dirty. We want to have fun if we can’t bag a billionaire. We do not want to chase no waste niggas who are cheating on us.. like in Ciara’s Russell Wilson having still outside half naked and getting it poppin 2023?? Like in Meg the Stalli’s fun party girl with a man but doing what she wants on her boss bitch shit 2023? Crying over a man is very 2016. I ain’t praying for no niggas souls. Okay so I gave the album a quick run through and there are 3 really good tracks —

1) Heart on my sleeve / the shortest track but absolutely beautiful and in reality exactly what I expected the entire album to sound like from Chloe. Ethereal, beautiful, complex and layered vocally because she’s a great singer. This song is beautiful, has a lot of strength and is like a gem for the mind. It’s glittery and a display of fierceness. It’s short length is really sad because it’s like when Rihanna had done Birthday Cake and it was incredible and everyone wanted more, that’s this song.

2) In Pieces / a piano ballad, it’s giving Lady Gaga, but it feels authentic and highlights her voice and the lyrics are great. It feels like when Beyoncé killed Dangerously in Love as her own solo ballad when she went solo. It’s that. It’s just a gorgeous showcase of Chloe’s capabilities.

3) How Does It Feel w. Chris Brown / this song is my favourite on the record, however I REALLY feel like she could have put Khalid in place of Chris Brown and this song would have been a MAJOR HIT. Like it would have been next level. I feel like anyone outside of Chris Brown could have amplified the reach and level of this song: Lucky Daye, Sampha, Daniel Caesar, Brent Faiyaz, so many combination duet-type singers could have taken this outside into the world and blew the record up. Anyway, missed opportunity.

I can’t see any replay value on any of the rest of the album and that’s something because we all had high hopes. Body Do is fun tho. But Missy went harder on her tracks with Lizzo and FLO than she did on this record. It is what it is. Cheat Back would have been better with a new rap girlie on it. Saweetie or Doja would have killed it.

I call Gara Prime 'Gazza' cause she's a queen, and I'm Aussie (we have a good way of finding nicknames). Gazza is a fun silly gal and oddly enough, I actually love her a lot lol. Unironically got me through some hard times, which is weird to say, all things considered lmao.

She also gets Gamma cas I like Halo and she's a perfect fit- She's got the Harrabussa Helmet from H3 (idc if I spelt it wrong, just know she slays and the h3 fans are malding).
