⛧ my opinion & how I found about them:

They're my all-time favorite band. I discovered them in late May because my father wanted to see them live in June. I immersed myself in their first album and instantly fell in love. When June arrived, I finally saw them live! They were amazing, but the stage was way too small. If they had performed in a bigger hall, it might not have paid off because only about 50 people showed up, which is really sad considering they deserve a much larger audience. After the concert, I gradually started exploring their other albums and fell even more in love. Their thrash albums are incredibly good, these guys can really thrash! Even though I generally prefer thrash over groove/nu metal, their newer albums are great too. I can proudly say that there isn't a single song I hate. Sure, some songs are better and some are worse, but there isn't one that really sucks.

Leon Russell “Stranger In A Strange Land”

Okay, I’m going to write this like it’s to my bestie cause that’s what inspired this post and it might be the only way I can get it out.

So here is a story of being in a relationship with someone you deeply love while trying to figure out if you can meet each other’s needs. It is broken down into playlists, each playlist is sort of like a chapter of the story/relationship made in real time as the relationship was unfolding. I’m going to use the playlist title within the story which will be in bold – click it and it will take you to that spotify playlist.

I love you. I’m sorry you’re going through this, that you are hurting. You know I believe in soulmates and that people come into our lives for a reason. Soulmates come in to help us grow and learn things about ourselves, which ain’t always a pretty process. I see you being challenged in ways that are building you up, breaking down barriers, and pulling back the layers of who you are. Learning about what you want, need, and deserve. You are so strong. And love is worth it. It can be unbearably painful too. Music helped me process and make sense of what I was feeling, I’m hoping there is something in here that could help you too.

Alright, I’ll skip the playlists/chapters from the early stages of the relationship – all the butterflies and goo. And start with when you begin seriously considering and desiring to build a life with a person. You got that long term commitment on the brain, reflecting on what that truly means. You've gone through some highs&lows and things are good, you’re groovin along. My playlists #737 and My playlist #742 are overall happy testaments to the relationship, the everyday ins and outs. As you reach new levels of intimacy you recognize you’re entering uncharted territory. Some hiccups hit and you feel distance growing. <3brown you see some issues that feel minor and able to be resolved. So, overall you feel safe and start talking about the future together. #771; you’re happy and confident about the relationship.

A past someone pops up trying to get your attention, sharing things that take a minute to process. You remind yourself of who your ****Baby is and what your priorities and values are. You feel a little twisted, and actively untwist yourself. You’re reminded of the spark the two of you share, and snap, you’re back in the groove. And for the harder moments, you remember how love is a choice. Still, relationships are hard sometimes and take effort – storms are a part of life. Plus, you know how comfortable you are with this person, how they have become your home. How tied you are to one another, you see and want that future together <3orange. Not to mention how much fun you have together \850. You just want to support your partner and have them support you – flakes.

Then a ball gets dropped \\0// that has you seeing things differently and feeling uneasy.  You freak and wonder if you need to make for an escape. Instead you talk and talk and talk it through. This person means so much to you, and you think about all the reasons why you wanna be with them and what does work in the relationship. It could be nice... The scales seem to heavily weigh in the positive. You’re gunna make it work. You’re trying. You pause for a second and wonder, wait, “u sure ur sure?” and hope to God, pls b sure. You start finding your way back to one another. Things feel okay and the dust settles.

You start reflecting, am I sure? About this relationship. Your love is deep and you know it could be like really, quite nice – actually. But the issues are still there #925, so you take a step back and decide to ease off the pressure you are putting on yourself, you will know when you know. You give it over to the moonbeams. But the foundation isn't solid so you're skittish. You honestly acknowledge the parts of the relationship that aren’t working, and yikez. Yet, you just want to get past these issues and move forward. Focus on the future you’ve imagined and the good things, wanting that. To feel fonder.

Of course the issues keep poking out – and after the back and forth, after trying to explain it from every angle you can think of with still a massive disconnect, you see what’s happening and painfully accept that the only way to stop the loop is to leave it %[.
