seldom gets sick but when he does it hits him LIKE A TRUCK hates being sick he's allergic to penicillin so he feels very guilty about needing medication stubborn asf, will pretend he's fine for an annoying amount of time. will go to class watery eyed, sweaty, flushed red, shaking and half-delirious has to be forced to rest, but once that's managed he's very calm and sleeps through most of his sickness loves soup. his mom used to (and still does if he happens to get sick while he's home) make him some kind of special soup whenever he got sick and he loved it. give the boy some soup it will cure 99% of his illness.

todd anderson

gets sick frequently but goes through it pretty lightly he's never like, suffering, more like inconvenienced takes him such a long time though. he has never been sick less than a week fatigue hits him hard, he's falling asleep while standing gets pretty bad muscle pains and pretty irritable it makes him pretty snappy, which unfortunately, makes him funny asf, but no one can really laugh bc he's sick, that would be rude

charlie dalton

probably ate dirt as a kid so he's immune to all the germs, and doesn't get sick a lot but when he does his throat just... gives up on him. he looses his voice immediately i think since he barely gets sick the poets have no idea, so when one day he just shows up at breakfast dead silent they assume the apocalypse is near. gets really bad headaches. loud noises make his headaches worse. this is pretty ironic and funny to the other poets starts missing classes the second he can and doesn't come back until he's forced to by nolan himself would love being sick if it wasn't for the whole... being sick thing bc ouch... but like the attention is great

gets sick at very unfortunate times, like just at the beginning of spring or during school breaks and weekends. convinced he's dying every. single. time. "This Is The End, Write Down My Will For Me Please... Please Call My Mommy, I Shall Bid My Farewell To Her..." to be fair he does get a horrible migraine every single time, so the guys are mostly forgiving of all of the bullshit inhales soup and tea with lemon&honey.

his temperature spikes up by +0.1°C and immediately delirium hits him and it hits him HARD gets really emotional and cries a lot. mostly bc he loves his friends and animals and science hates taking medicine. you gotta hide it in his food bc he will not take it will not shut the fuck up, not even for a second. not even when he's sleeping (pray for meeks he's really going thru it), talks until he looses his voice also muscle pains get him soo bad, like his back and his legs are useless he can barely sit sometimes

barely eats anything. all the food becomes repulsive to him and he has to be coaxed to eat literal toddler portions just so he doesn't starve. throws up a lot deathly pale + flushed cheeks and nose + teary, puffy eyes sleepy. hates it. hates missing classes and complains about it a lot. would over-medicate himself to get to go to class quicker luckily he can be easily distracted (mostly by crossword puzzles and music) charlie will go into his room and play saxophone for him sometimes <3

he technically has a pretty good immune system but he's so irrationally afraid of germs that he walks around in a medical mask during flu season to protect himself still gets sick though it's like a vibe check from god to stop fucking panicking like neil, he refuses to admit that he's sick and goes to class shivering, sweaty, and only half-lucid but he will go to class goddammit, gotta keep that perfect attendance somehow still believes that some painkillers will fix him. he almost overdosed once (or twice) has to be forced to rest and argues about it a lot he's hungry. all the time. could eat a five course meal and still be hungry. get my boy some sustenance, he's dying also gets migraines (he gets those anyways, they get way worse when he's sick though)

oh you have no idea the box you just opened 🫶 this all that I have written rn but trust I will write more.

okay, so Helen was born into a really rich family. reputation was truly all they cared about. she was born and raised in tulsa. Her father was almost never home, and when he was, he was either screaming at her/her mother or hiding away in his office. her mother, who used to have big dreams, forces to stay down and settle with a man she didn't love. her mother drinks to numb the pain of her failed life(she had a boy she had fell in love with but her parents forced her to close that relationship and marry into another rich family and not some poor one). Growing up, Helen had 3 siblings, Elizabeth was the oldest(18 at the time), a half-brother she never met(unfortunately, her father had an affair), and a younger brother named Richard. Her older sister never really stuck around much. When Helen was younger, they used to be somewhat close until Elisabeth and her parents started fighting over stuff Helen didn't understand yet.

once Elisabeth had left and never returned it left Helen and Richard alone. Her and her brother never got along well, most of his time spent trying to learn everything her father taught him. because of this and the newly turned pressure on her Helen would sneak out and stay out late just to get away from the screaming matches she would have with her parents. she was a real artsy kid, often times drawing or singing which pissed off her parents a lot. she wasnt afraid of getting dirty nor did she care about her reputation. she often time just go to some place that had good views and just draw.

she met Joseph one night at a school football game. she wasn't super popular but people knew who she was due to her parents. she was considered the nice kid who helped others. she was a strongly believed in being kind to to others, helping those who couldn't help themselves. she had seen Joseph standing away from the crowd watching the game. she had gone over to join him and they just started talking like they've know each other for years.

at first they would just hang out during lunch or during the football game. then started to hangout at late at night. she would let him drive them around, seeing movies at the drive in and she would take him out to dinner knowing damn well he never had enough money to get a proper meal. he was a poor kid who struggled to show his emotions. he had been taught by his father never let people in because that's how you get hurt, and do whatever it takes to make it out alive. Joseph lived by that because why would his father lie? plus he had seen the pain his father goes through after he let in his mother who ended up dying during childbirth.

anyways they had gotten together in the rain(classic ik but it's cuteee). She had taken him to one of her favorite secluded spots to just watch the stars. they were laying out all closed together when it had started to downpour rain. she started laughing and asked him to dance with her. Joseph with the brightest grin on his face got up and they started dancing. he would spin her around and she would just laugh because this was the happiest she had ever been. eventually they just start slow dancing, her looking up at him and he just kisses her ever so gently. when he pulls back he just starts apologizing and she just starts laughing because she's so giddy. like girl is kicking her feet and twirling her hair she's so downright bad for him. she apologizes and tells him that she enjoyed it and he kisses her again, her hands resting on his cheeks as she stands on her tippy toes(short queen fr). that night he asked her to be his girlfriend and she's never said yes quicker in her life. he goes on about how he can't give her much but that he'll give her all the love he has and to treat her right. better than anything her parents are and she just melts because this is the most effort someone has ever given her before.

they start spending more and more time together. some nights when Joseph's dad isn't home she'll sneak over to his house and they will just sleep hand in hand together, especially after long fights with her parents and she just needs to be comforted because she knows damn well her parents will never give her the time of day. (they are super emotional distant and rarely ever actually talk to her. her brother is a different story.) she'll lay her head on his chest, listening to his heart beating as he gently plays with her hair.

one night where they had decided to go the drive in she had run into her brother who as learning to act a lot like her father. he was considered the only heir to the Thompson legacy so he spent a lot of time with his father so he can learn how to live and eventually take the place of him. anyways he starts going off about how hes going to tell their parents that shes off with a poor boy and she immediately start begging him not to tell them. he does and they start demanding to meet this boy. the next day Joseph dresses in his finest out he has and goes over for dinner. they immediately are like no this needs to stopped and a fight breaks out between Helen and her parents.

Helen screams that she will not end up like her mother, a broken woman who still in love with the poor boy from all those years ago because this is the same thing that happened with her mother a d she will NOT let herself turn into whatever her mother has turned out to be. Helen dreams of being an artist or hell a nurse, someone who helps others no matter what. Joseph tried to calm her down, telling her that he doesn't want to cause problems and that he should leave but she tells him that if he leaves she's leaving with him. her father disowns her right there and then and her mother is looking at her with the most hatred filled look she's ever seen. her mother is furious that she's getting to live the life she's always drempt about.

Helen immediately packs a bag and leaves with Joseph. once they get back to his place she immediately starts sobbing and apologizing to him because now she's put him in a bad position. he just wraps her in a hug and tells her it's alright. that night he explains the situation to his father who hesitantly allows her to stay. Joseph's father is real kind to her but isn't around much. she gets a job as a waitress and starts pulling her part because she knows they couldn't afford to pay for 2 people let alone another(she was 18 and Joseph was 18 just a few months older). she is just barely 19 when she finds out she pregnant and she just feels utterly guilty. she is terrified to tell Joseph afraid he'll just toss her out to the side so she starts saving up money just in case he does. she tells him back at their favorite spot, where they had gotten together at and he just sits there frozen for a second before wrapping her in a hug and telling her that they will make it through this together. he was never really good at emotions let alone showing his own but he just tries his best to comfort his girlfriend as much as he can.

when they have Marcia they are terrified because they are unmarried, broke, and afraid of hurting their baby. both so unprepared to have a baby girl but are so overjoyed. they are so careful with her and are super involved with her up until she hits 10 years old. her father's business takes off and they move to the west side. her mother gets a good promotion at the hospital she works at and both Joseph and Helen start working long hours leaving marcia alone a lot. They don't even realize that they are slipping into the same patterns of their parents until it's far to late.

Helen and Joseph when home get into a lot of arguments over how to raise Marcia. On one hand Joseph wants Marcia to follow what he's learn from his father which ment hurting other to make it out alive plus putting pressure on Marcia to do good in school so she has a good change in life while Helen doesn't agree with her husband and wants Marcia to learn rom her to always help others no matter what and also puts pressure on her to do good in school. They unfortunately end up being really distant emotionally to Marcia due to overworking and their arguments. they fall back into a lot of the patterns they always promised they would never do :(

once they realized it later on when marcia finally breaks down sobbing at the dinner table. this is due to bob dying and seeing two-bit get brutally jumped and cherry distancing herself from marcia because marcia is trying so hard to fit in with the socs for her father which means she ends up following them doing not so great things like drinking etc(she hates drinking but if that means she won't be a disappointment then she'll deal with it) and also due to the pressure they've both put on her and from the conflicting pushes they both learned as a kid they realized that they had been acting just like how her parents had without even meaning to and that night they have a huge talk filled with apologizes and telling marcia about things they always kept from her because they wanted to shield her from the harsh world which wasn't always the best decision

so they left marcia alone by herself a lot so that night they promise to be more present and show how much they truly care about her. tha night she also opens up to them about everything that had been happening and they were truly shocked because they didn't know Bob had died let alone her witnessesing something so harsh.

OK insanely enough (from my readings on a03 and some here) I genuinely believe that the plot of the secret history would change drastically if Bunny had been a girl.

I saw a really interesting comment on Reddit where someone was asking "Hey what if Richard was a girl?" and someone replied to it and their comment said (and I'm paraphrasing) that the plot wouldn't change all that much because the characters driving the plot are Henry and Bunny. If Bunny hadn't existed, and the murder happened, everything would be fine because then there's no witness there's no drama. Richard might not even ever find out if they killed a farmer. Plot over! Does that make sense? Point being: No other relationship was as impactful in progressing the plot (aside from perhaps Julian and Henry but even that feels secondary). So only changes in their relationship would impact the plot significantly.

So you can swap all their genders and the story remains the same, but given the time context of that era, the behaviour towards girls and boys was very different.

Bunny was not very masculine so he didn't make for a good example of a typical man- he depended on others, he didn't work, he was highly emotional. If he was a girl (as sexist as this it would be) everyone would just be like "Yeah makes sense." And I genuinely believe Henry's relationship to fem Bunny would be different. It doesn't necessarily have to be outright romantic even.

It doesn't change one key element of a climac tho like bunny was dying either way I'm afraid 😔😔😔😔😔😔

Anon who asked a summary of Måneskin's recent interviews, under the cut there are a few :)

Che Tempo che Fa

It starts with compliments to the beauty and power of The Loneliest. Fabio Fazio is a big fan and comments that it is the first ballad in English, then they joke that it's the first time they have had sofas in their studio. Dami says hi to his mom and says something like, "Hey mum watch me!"

They start by talking about the fact that Måneskin are always around the world and that it must be difficult to realize what's going on. Dami says they actually have little time to realize what is happening but that they also manage to enjoy the moment, especially on big stages, like Rio and Coachella.

Fabio says Ethan has a philosophy, don't take things too seriously, Ethan confirms. Then they retrace the early days of the group's formation, how Thomas and Vic met in middle school, etc. and they also make a recap of all the nominations for future awards.

Speaking of The Loneliest Damiano clarifies, once again, that when he said that he risked dying while shooting the video he was joking, even if at the moment he'd been really afraid; then there is a dig at the headlines that are always too melodramatic.

After, Vic says that the reason for their success is mainly in their authenticity (she is almost voiceless, so she says she shouted too much on her sister's birthday the day before), Ethan adds that the music is cyclical and that's another reason why rock is coming back.

Fabio asks what they do in the evening when they are abroad. Damiano says Vic and Tom often party and Tom says they go around clubs and get to know the cities.

Later they also talk about the fact that they have had many experiences that have made them grow professionally but that they are still in their twenties. Speaking of the cliche 'sex drugs and rock and roll' Damiano jokes that he's always naked because it is hot on stage and that he's not the only one of the 4 to undress, but in the rest of the time he's just a normal guy (they show photos of him with Chili). He adds that the cliché about drugs is outdated and that out of respect for themselves and the public they have to put themselves in a position to always give 100%.

They also talk about how they chased after Shakira to take pictures with her, or that at the Cannes Film Festival, in a super chic evening Thomas took off his shirt and started dancing, so the security wanted to kick him out. Vic says that when they meet famous people they pretend to be calm, then as soon as they're alone they go wild and can't believe it really happened.

Fabio says that Måneskin are transgressive in a serious way, in the sense that they always say what they think and that they are not afraid to take sides, as in the case of the speech against Putin.

Always talking about the VIPs they met, Thomas says the craziest encounter for him was with Slash, Damiano says Keith Richards, for Vic it was Iggy Pop and Ethan tells about Dakota Johnson cooking eggs for them.

Then they remember all the tour dates and announce those in the stadiums in Rome and Milan. At the end there is a little joke with Luciana Littizzetto who is a comedian, Fabio asks the band to pretend to remember who Luciana is, but she's actually very famous in Italy (there is a person in the audience with a strange laugh, Damiano bursts out laughing and can't stop). When Luciana enters she jokes with Fabio and tells him to tattoo the line with which he usually launches the advst on his chest, instead of "Il Ballo della Vita". Vic instead asks him to take off his shirt.

RADIO 101

They start off by talking about the tour dates and how long they've been home over the last year. Vic says about one month in total. They are asked if they are anxious before an important concert, Dami Vic and Ethan make fun of Thomas who is the one who is sometimes nervous, like before Rock in Rio and Circo Massimo. Thomas says it depends on the situation, for example the first time they played The Loneliest in London it was very important to them so he was much more nervous.

Damiano says that of all the VIP meetings the most important was the one with Keith Richards who told them “I don't know who the fuck you are but they told me that you are good and that you actually play guitar, keep it up”.

They say they are always in such a hurry that since this summer they hardly even do the sound check before a concert, but still have no free time.

Speaking of the hardest audience to conquer, Thomas says it was very important to be able to conquer an audience made of rock fans, like at Rock 'em Ring or at the Stones concert. Vic jokes that sometimes when they ask the audience to crouch and then jump there are metalheads who just look at them in disgust and stand still with their arms crossed. Damiano also jokes about those people, because maybe to stay in the front row at Rock in Rio they have been there for three days, so he says in Roman 'pijatela bene', that means let yourself go, have fun. Then they add that conquering the smaller stages at festivals is really difficult.

Vic says that it's her fault if there's always pizza in the dressing rooms, because it's she who wants it and that they eat a little before the concerts and again after, while Damiano has a closed stomach and he doesn't eat, either before or after.

They ask him how they define success. They joke that the real success is to have a Lamborghini then more seriously that the most shocking thing is to have the crowd abroad singing songs in Italian, like in Chile, or to be recognized every three steps at Copa Cabana. Damiano says he felt like the Brazilian national team.

Thanks to Måneskin, many young people start playing an instrument while until a few years before they wanted to be DJs. Vic says that she started playing because she saw a Danish movie as a child and that therefore certain things can affect a whole life. Thomas says he really appreciates it when fans tell him they started playing guitar seeing him and remembers that when he started he was the 'weird' guy because playing an instrument was not common.

A parody with the music of Zitti e Buoni starts and instead of the original lyrics there are all the things the band has done in the last few months. They ask Måneskin when they realized they were really going to break through. Ethan says that it was when they saw Beggin climb to the top of all the charts. Also, Damiano says it was when they went to Jimmy Fallon for the second time.

They ask what they would do in an alternate universe if they weren't musicians. Damiano laughs, says he would be doing high school for the sixth time.

Talking about other musicians, Vic says they've wanted to see the Artic Monkeys for five years and they never manage.

They got asked if they have ever thought of switching roles. Ethan says it already happened when they did a cover of Seven Nations Army. Ethan played bass, Vic the guitar and Tom the drums. Damiano sang because he can't play anything and Thomas says they can't sing. Then they laugh because it was a disaster.

Someone else's songs they like to the point they'd have liked to be thier own are: Baby I'm Gonna Leave you for Tom, Ethan says Can't Stop by RHCP, Dami Dream On by Aerosmith and Vic's answer I cannot hear properly, sorry ^^'

Since Måneskin have won everything (and maybe they will sign up for Miss Italia), the radio awards them useless prizes. The band itself has to vote: the award for the stingiest goes to Tom. Everyone wants the prize for being the one who showers the most, but Vic says the other three always make fun of her saying she is the one who washes the least, but that's not true, and they enjoy embarrasing her with people just met (Dami and Tom high five behind her back). The prize for the one who wakes up later is a good match between Tom and Vic. The one who eats the most is still Thomas. The one who looks at the phone the most is Damiano. The one who always loses everything is Damiano again. The most messy is Thomas, but Dami says Vic's room is a safari. The one who gets the most bras on stage is Ethan. Strange things arrived on stage are mostly underwear and fetish stuff. Their best memory, for Dami is Sanremo: he still cannot explain how it was even possible.

RAI Radio 1

Thomas says that there is an alchemy between them and that their success has been a natural process even if it always takes a lot of effort and discipline, also because they are always in the spotlight and everything they do gets judged.

Damiano, however, comments that even knowing absolutely nothing about an artist contributes to idolizing people too much and it is not a healthy thing because in the end everyone is human and everyone has flaws.

The interviewer reminds them that a few days earlier Manuel Agnelli was there: he said that the great merit of Måneskin is that they manage the success they are getting, and above all that Måneskin have brought the attention of the public and record companies back to rock music played live, with real instruments, especially among young people. The band says it's a big responsibility but also a very nice thing.

Still citing Manuel Agnelli, who spoke of the "dictatorship of numbers", the guys say that they don't pay much attention to numbers, they don't really read the statistics and they don't even know how many gold records they have won. Thomas says fixating on numbers drives people crazy. Damiano adds that it's a fake feedback, that numbers matter, but they aren't the only important thing.

Speaking of seeing other people's concerts, Vic says they do it out of passion, because music is not just a job but a passion as well. Tom adds that their inspiration also comes from everyday life and normal things.

They ask a question each, they start with Ethan talking about the role of the drummer, who is often the wise man of the group because he has to dictate the timing. Ethan says that's the way it is and that since he started playing with others he has had to become more empathetic and understand how others interpreted time and music, because there has to be a dialogue between them, especially with the bass.

They ask Damiano how he manages his role as frontman, if he manages to calibrate what little narcissism it takes to be on the front line. Damiano says he never really asked himself this question. That since he's the one who can move without instruments it has always come naturally to him to accentuate the music with the movements of the body. They also ask him why he has clearly exposed himself against Putin when many artists prefer to remain silent. Damiano says that he's not only a singer but also a person free to express an opinion and that there are arguments that leave little room for interpretation, such as war.

With Vic they talk about the tradition of women playing bass, because there are many of them and therefore they ask how her passion for the instrument was born. Vic says she startedat school with classical guitar but she wasn't happy with it, so she started experimenting. The transition to bass came naturally the first time she played with an amp.

With Thomas they talk about the guitar in The Loneliest which recalls that of Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machines. Thomas says that he usually writes music instinctively, so while working on The Loneliest he used the pedal (that Morello is the pioneer of) and the music came out on its own, without voluntarily mentioning anyone.

Finally, quoting Vasco Rossi they speak of the feeling of loneliness that a musician can feel immediately after a concert. Vic says they don't have the time lately, but that when they were less famous it was often the case that they felt lost after a concert, not knowing what to do next.

Ikaris defense squad : an essay

I love Ikaris. He is my favourite marvel character and not only because he is played by Richard Madden. But it saddens me to see sooo many people saying “he is just some white straight murderer” cause well,,,, it’s not just that. So here’s an essay on how Ikaris is actually one of the best written characters.

In the beginning… Ikaris is basically Ajak’s favourite or so we thought. He is a very good fighter and a very good soldier who obeys. He believes in Arishem’s plan, even without knowing him or it. He was told, from the beginning of his existence that he was a warrior who had to fight these malevolent creatures because some super old super huge guy with six eyes said so. The real things begin in Babylone. In the movie, he says that Ajak “told [him] everything right after [they] left Babylone”. But why ? Okay so here’s my theory. Ajak wasn’t that sweet and tender with Ikaris. She encourages him to get close with Sersi but why ? Maybe because she knows they will eventually die and she doesn’t want him to waste his life. But she tells him the truth right after that. I think that Ajak was “jealous” of Ikaris and Sersi getting real close and by telling him they would eventually die and get reborn, to help bring a celestial to the world, she wanted him to always keep his duty in mind and not getting distracted. But he and Sersi stayed together. They even married. I think Ikaris wanted to marry Sersi because he was afraid to lose her too soon and not having a real life with her. He wanted to enjoy the few moments he could have on earth before dying with her.

And here come several things. First, I think that the Eternals missions are some kind of cycle were events are bound to happen all over again. Maybe not them discovering they are advanced old robots but at least creating a family. If Thena and Gilgamesh, Druig and Makkari, Sersi and Ikaris all share relationships, it’s because they will always find each other, even with no memories of their previous life. They are linked together. I don’t believe Arishem when he says the Eternals can’t evolve. On the contrary, it may be a slow evolution but they do change. I envision something like Janet in the Good place. They all evolve a little bit when they die. And if they died many many times well… Earth Eternals are just the final and the best versions of themselves. I mean, they were capable of revolting against the very being that created them.

But back to Ikaris. I understand him. Just imagine you were told from the beginning of your existence you had one purpose and some day, when you are finally happy, out of the blue, your mom leader tells you : you are a space robot who is going to die with the planet you’re on and you won’t really matter cuz there will be other versions of yourself. The guy must have been traumatised to learn that and he must have feared to waste every single moment of his existence. So he hung on what he was told to do. His duty. And for millenias, he had to lie to the people he loved the most. No wonder he couldn’t get attached to the planet. Because he knew what he did was worthless and the people would die some day. But Sersi gave him hope. She gave him a reason to live.

When Ajak told him she wanted to stop the Emergence, it must have felt like another terrible treason. She who had told him everything, well, told him : “yeah man no worries your existence is a lie but you’re gonna make it ! Don’t listen to the six eyed guy !”. Killing her was an act of despair. She never really loved him, she had her own plans. But Ikaris was also blinded by the faith he had to protect himself. And that’s why he isn’t afraid of dying. Because somehow, he knows he will find his family in another time, another world. And with them, the love of his life, Sersi. That’s why I love so much the title “Across the Oceans of Time”. Because it doesn’t only mean the times they lived on earth. But all the lives, all the worlds they saw together. Their memories are contained in that single track / title.

At the end, when Ikaris says “I’m sorry”, I don’t think he says he’s sorry for what he has done, because once again he was following what he had been conditioned to do, but he is sorry for what he is about to do. To kill himself. The pain is so unbearable, to know he failed, he lost what he loved, he was lied to, he was just a toy in the hands of mightier, he needs to make it stop. And Sersi knows it. Because they are connected. But I don’t think Ikaris is *truly* dead. Maybe he will go to the world forge and seek his memories. Maybe he will do a Thor-Infinity-War-Style and crash into a ship.

But please, try to understand the character before saying he is a pile of garbage.

Let’s ramble a little

I was thinking about Castle, how it’s still so popular even here on Tumblr which I consider a slowly dying site. Whereas a lot of other fandoms have simply left or have found another subjects of interest, Castle is still going strong and keeping it’s loyal fan base, though certainly a little smaller than it used to be. I don’t think there are many other cancelled TV shows of this genre (police procedural drama) still receiving such amount of love as Castle. With that said, the circumstances surrounding its cancellation and all the other “bad stuff” around it suck even more. But I don’t really want to go there as it’s a big can of worms which I don’t wanna open ever again.

Anyways, it’s an obvious thing to say that the actors did a fantastic job bringing their characters to life. So I’m not gonna be rambling about how for example Stana’s Kate Beckett is a badass, super sexy, flawed and believable cop who is literally destined to be loved by the viewers or how she and Castle makes a perfect couple not only for the hardcore shippers. No, no, no, this is all true but it’s a well known acknowledged fact, therefore not the reason why I write this - idk what it is - let’s say a shitpost that nobody’s gonna read anyway.

What I think brings up the greatness of this show and helps keeping it alive the most, is fanfiction. Yes, due to fanfiction we can enjoy the lives of these characters (mainly Beckett and Castle ofc) in a way that the show itself could never provide us. Some of these talented authors have created amazing expanded worlds for this beloved couple or a completely new AUs which are a pleasure to explore. And by the talented authors I mean crazy talented, simply awesome ones. There are tons of writers for many different fandoms but how many of them write the quality content? Not so many, I’m afraid. But that’s not the case with Castle! I’m not saying all the stories in this fandom are good but there are many for sure. I’m confident to say that Castle fanfiction has some of the best writers who could be selling bestsellers (and maybe they are, this idk). Unfortunatelly, most of them aren’t active anymore or worse, they deleted their stories (or their work was simply removed for whatever reason) which saddens me the most. There’s nothing more frustrating than wanting to reread some fic which simply cannot be found anymore. And I’m definitely planning on rereading some of these gems again and again so maybe I should download my favourites just to be safe. Nevertheless, as long as the fanfic stories are here, the show will be alive as it’s a very necessary complement for me to enjoy the world of Richard Castle to the fullest extent. 

Through this post I wanted to give appreciation and thanks to all the writers out there even if none of them will see this.

“Glad I got to meet you before you died.” Richie tells Ben, who looks up at him with an annoyed look on his face. Y/N elbows him.

“Richard! Sorry, he has a disease where all the things he says come out of his ass.”

“Nu-uh!”

“Yuh-huh!”

Ben looks between them as they continue to bicker before finally speaking again. “Are you guys dating?”

Y/N and Richie stop fighting to process what he had just said. Then, they’re both dying of laughter. 

“No! He’s in love with Eddie.”

Richie glares at her, his ears and cheeks turning a dark shade of red. “No I don’t. And besides, she’s gay.”

“Trust me, Richie would be flirting with her non-stop if she wasn’t.” The voice of Stanley enters the area that they’re in, and Eddie follows behind him starting to fix up Ben’s wound that he had gotten from Henry’s knife. They continue talking until Y/N stops in her tracks when she spots a gorgeous redheaded girl coming towards them.

“Are you okay? That looks like hurts!” She asks Ben, who waves her off nonchalantly. Y/N suddenly recognizes that voice - it’s Beverly Marsh. The girl that Bill had kissed in the first grade musical. The girl that she was too afraid to talk to.

She dazes off just staring at her. God, she was beautiful. Her freckles highlighted those ocean blue eyes and her hair was as bright as a fire-

Y/N is snapped back into reality when Richie steps on her foot, smirking at her. She sticks her tongue out at him in response. However, she could only do it for a second because he decided to talk.

“Yeah, by Henry Bowers.”

“Shut up, Richie.” Y/N seethes, crossing her arms. Beverly has a bad history with Bowers. It was rumored that she had slept with him, but she doesn’t believe that. Just as Beverly starts to walk away, Y/N stops her. “Uh, wait! We’re...we’re going to the quarry tomorrow if you want to come. It’d be nice to have another girl around.”

Beverly looks at her for a minute before smiling and nodding her head. Y/N sighs in relief, but quickly stops herself when the losers are all giving her the same look.

“What?”

“Nothing, nothing.” Stan dismisses before turning to Richie. “Nice going bringing up Bowers in front of her.” 

“It’s the truth!” He defends himself, narrowing his eyes at him.

“Why, what’d she do?” Ben whispers curiously. Richie laughs before answering.

“More like who’d she do. From what I hear the list in longer than my wang.” He strokes himself jokingly and Stan whispers a retort. “Anyway, Bill had her back in third grade. They kissed in the school play! Reviews said you can’t fake that sort of passion! Oh, and Y/N is in love with her.”

“No I’m not!” Y/N says rather too quickly. “And besides, she didn’t ‘do’ anybody. Those were just stupid rumors by Bowers.” 

The day goes by rather quickly, and before she knows it, the losers and her are standing at the edge of the quarry playing loogie before she, Richie and Eddie are fighting about who won again. Well, that was, until a voice was heard from behind them. 

��I’ll go!” Beverly smiles, taking off her top and running into the water. “Sissies!”

“WHAT THE FUCK?” Richie exclaims, watching her jump. “We just got belittled by a girl!” That comment earned a smack from Y/N as she stared at her.

“Do we have to do that now?”

“Yes.” Eddie confirms, fear trembling in his voice. 

Y/N is the second one to jump, landing right beside Beverly. She laughs, putting her hair to the side. “Come on!”

After an exciting day in the water, Beverly is seen lying down on a rock attempting to get a tan, while the rest of them stare at her in awe. It was true, she was quite attractive. However, Y/N couldn’t help but be jealous. She seemed to have a connection with Bill. Oh well.

Beverly turns to face them, and they all immediately look somewhere else. She laughs before sitting beside Y/N. She could feel herself getting hotter and hotter at their contact.

Say something, you idiot, she thinks.

“I...I like your hair. It makes you look like a ninja. Well - like, a cool ninja!” Y/N quickly corrects herself, face red with pure humiliation as she ignores the smirks from her friends. Beverly giggles a bit, thanking her.

She looks up at Richie, who is gesturing to hold her hand with his fingers. Y/N’s eyes widen before she shakes her head. However, he’s persistent. Finally, she caves, locking her fingers with Beverly, expecting her hand to be pulled away. Therefore you could imagine her shock when the girl smiled and rubbed her thumb soothingly with hers.

This gives Richie an idea.

Tales of Graces F Playthrough Thoughts Pt.2

Under the cut, as usual!

-Firstly, I love and adore Malik and would give my life for him, he's totally precious. Dumb, soft, dad vibes.

-Asbel is so ridiculously emo, like I feel bad for him but I kinda wanna pick on him too (affectionate). Also like everyone hates this dude. Like I get what he did hurt a lot of people and they don't have to forgive him but Cheria has been so insensitive and Hubert is so cruel now that it's almost a little comical.

-Sophie is precious as always, I wanna give her a big hug. She continues to be my favorite, I want nothing but love and support and happiness for her.

-I really love how much Asbel has been treating Sophie like she's his child or little sister or something. The dynamic is definitely different than all those years ago but it's clear he still cares about her very much, even if he's uncertain if she's really the same Sophie. -And on that note... seriously guys? Like, I know it was years ago so maybe they can't picture her perfectly but how many other girls with purple pigtails, amnesia, super strength, and clothes that make her look like she came from space are hanging around the meadow? Who else could it possibly be? (now watch me be wrong somehow lol) -Despite how she treats Asbel rn I still like Cheria. I heard they get married eventually?? I think they're a little bit cute, I'm rooting for them!

-Richard.... good lord, I am so in love with this man. His appearance, his personality, his voice. But he, on the other hand, seems to be in in love with (or at least quite obsessed with) Asbel, especially since he has now saved his life twice. He won't stop telling him how happy he is to see him, how he's the only person in the world that he trusts, how Asbel was able to make him laugh for the first time in a long time, how when he was in danger again this time he wished Asbel would somehow show up to rescue him again (despite not seeing him for 7 years), and saying things like "I know you, you [would/wouldn't] do something like that" as though the two of them hadn't only hung out for a collective few hours 7 years ago lol. He seems like a very lonely and untrusting man so I can understand how their brief friendship really impacted him all this time.

-Pascal... DO NOT LIKE. The way she treats Sophie makes me very uncomfortable, especially when Sophie is always cowering behind Asbel because she's so scared of being touched by her. I know she's just excited about her research (though she also implied that she thought Sophie had a crush on Richard and that that made Richard her rival so idk...) but I still feel really bad for Sophie. I really wish I could like her because her personality reminds me of Magilou who I love and adore but ehhhh 😬 I dunno, maybe I'm too sensitive or maybe I love Sophie too much or something but I don't find this running gag to be funny or charming. If they don't keep this going the whole game and she eventually drops it I'll probably like her a lot more since I think she's funny in the very few moments where she's not doing that and her design is my favorite so far.

-Now on to the big thing... what the FUCK is going on with Sophie?? Her image in that weird machine??? Richard acting strange/afraid when he's around her? The black smoke things that happened when he touched his hand before? Both of their chests hurting in those catacombs? And then of course... her coming back to life in the same place she was originally found and at the same age she was when she died but... somehow with amnesia again??? I don't really care much about the main plot with the war and all that, I'm just dying to know what the heck is going on with these two. -And lastly, if one more person (Asbel... we know I mean Asbel...) says something about protecting someone or the words "7 years ago" I think I might go berserk and trash the city.

May 13th 20--, age 17

My father once told me that my mother was an angel. My brother said she was the embodiment of a rainy day. My sister said that she could wage the fiercest storm and still be calm. I was told she was named after a bird.

I never knew my mother. I wish I had, for all I have are stories. My uncle told me to write. So here I am writing. My mother loved stories. All the books in our library have her name in them, her reviews of them, when she finished them. There is only one book she did not finish. We aren’t allowed to touch that book. I know, I tried. Father was upset with me. I was only eleven when I happened upon it.

I had read all the other books in the library that summer. It was easy since I had no friends and my family was busy with other things. It is easy to be a ghost within these halls. I slept in the library and read until my eyes shed tears and my head swam with words. The last book I came across after my journey through our library was small, not very well worn and it’s spine showed lack of use. ‘Perfect,’ I thought, ‘a fresh book.’ My father made sure to visit me twice a day, at noon and at supper time. When he found me to call me to supper he was flown in a rage.

I was halfway to mother’s point in the book, I was enjoying it immensely. The language was fun and the characters were fleshed. All the makings of a good book. Father saw me, asked what I was reading and when I folded the book to reveal the cover I swear he looked as if a casket was awaiting him. He did not yell, he did not scream, but in a strained voice full of so much emotion he told me to put it back where it came from. Of course I questioned him, I had no reason not to, especially since I enjoyed the book. He said nothing but his face said everything.

I never finished that book. Even when I saw it at shops I never have finished it.

May 30th 20--, age 17

My Uncle says I look the most like my mother. Sure both of my siblings and I have dark hair, but it would be impossible not to the punnet squares agree. I don’t just have my mothers eyes he said, I have her posture, her coloring, even the same bone structure. He swears we could be twins. 

I know father sees it. It is why he has grown sad as I have aged. Brother says he can see it as well, especially my eyes. Sister does not care. 

I refuse to tell my father of my powers. I fear he will shatter. I have been able to feel others emotions all my life. The first emotion I truly remember was sorrow. It filled every open space, clung to walls and skin, suffocated me for years. I was told I would cry a lot as a little one. It was the sorrow, I drowned in it, suffocated in it. There was nothing else I could do.

I have been able to move things since I was a tot. Small things like blocks or plush animals. Though now I can move much greater things; cars, small cottages, animals, people. I know I have tried. Not with my hands, for I do not have the physical strength for such things, but with my mind. 

I started flying when I was 3. I know because my Uncle was so afraid. Uncle Jason had been babysitting me for the first time, he is my favorite. Suddenly after staring at the television I started to fly, giggling and upside down is how he found me. He immediately called Uncle Richard. Father was never informed of my flying. I do fly from time to time, not as often as I would like, but enough to keep it well versed.

I figured I was able to teleport when I was six. Sister was mad at me for one thing or another and I created a portal and shoved her in it. She was not amused. She didn’t tell father though, I believe she knew it would kill him. The first time I teleported myself was when I wished to escape a party my family was hosting, I wanted to go to my room and read, so I created a portal in a dark corner and walked myself through. I ended up in the back part of the gardens.

 The first time I astral projected myself was to eavesdrop. It was a couple of years ago, I knew I could do it before then but never needed to. Father and my uncles were arguing over something, actually about me, and I wanted to know what was happening.

Yes, I was 12-13 years old at the time. I had just started puberty and was struggling to keep control of my emotions so that my powers would not explode. Neither of my siblings inherited my mother’s powers, lucky fools. They also were quite a bit older than me at the time. I believe brother was finishing college and sister was just starting.

Uncle Richard had asked me if I wished to join the family business so to speak. I declined. I have no interest in those things. I want to read, write, draw and play my instruments. Being a hero is dangerous. Look at what happened to my mother. Uncle was convinced father planted those seeds in my head. He did not. 

Father did not wish me to be a hero (I agree it seems tedious, especially when one could just kill the enemy). Uncle Richard wanted to try and train me. Uncle Jason asked what I wanted and said what I wanted should be what happened. Uncle Tim said that if I had inherited mother’s powers that I would be useful.

It seemed like the family was at war.

I was with Uncle Jason later when I told him that I knew of their, well, battle. He said that if I did not wish to join I would not have to. He bought me ten books that day. Three were in French, two in German, two in Spanish and three in Arabic. He also started gifting me my mother’s old tomes. Her spell books, journals, everything to do with her powers and magic. He truly is the best uncle.

June 5th 20--, age 17

It seems that someone has snitched. I truly hate my cousins. I never have liked them. The majority of them are loud and annoying. 90% of them are also at least a decade older than I am too. 

My least favorite cousin (she does not deserve her name to be used, that bitch), has informed my father of my powers. That did not go over well. He asked how long I knew I had them and all the usual questions. I answered honestly, no use in lying. He was upset, which is an understatement, that I had not informed him sooner. I told him exactly;

“Father, I knew that if I told you your emotions would sour and that look you have whenever you think I am not looking would appear more and more. I do not wish sorrow on you father, and if I told you, you would look at me as if I am her.”

So tonight while father is being ‘The Dark Knight’ or whatever, I am cutting my hair. Shaving more like. I am shaving half of it off and dying the tips of the remaining hair red. I never rebel, but I am sure as soon as everyone knows, in the hero community, of my powers that I will be faced with many many annoying, pompous, supers trying to direct me. Father may even let them

I would get a piercing but my sister said that once she was in town she would go with me. I am not my mother. She may have been named after a bird and I may also be named after a bird, and we may possess the same features in many ways, but I am not her. Father will see. The supers will see. I will not be forced to become a hero. I will not succumb to anyone.

My name is Ibis and I will not be my mother.

Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 4

This episode has been the best for the season so far, I loved it.

Jackson and Jo

(Never thought I'd have to put them in a title together.)

Jackson and Jo I was intrigued at first when they were being just friends but then they swapped it and slept together. At this point I'm not sure if I like the pairing it's kinda odd borderline cringe, but maybe it'll change. It might be because it came on so suddenly and different. They've pledged to be a friends with benefits thing which is for the best, because Jackson really does go through clothes like he does clothes, but we all know how that is going to end up, someone is going to catch feelings and I don't think it's going to be Jo.

Honestly I'm not sure what they're doing with Jackson. He hasn't had a plot in a really long time it seems like they're just using him as a general filler to put the ladies in relationships, and where did my baby Harriet go she carried the show for the few seconds she was in it last time.

Other than their new arrangement neither Jackson nor Jo have any pressing plots at the moment.

Link and Amelia

(Currently carrying the Grey's relationship game.)

Before we get into it can I just express how adorable it was seeing Amelia gardening and mothering. She's really doing a great job.

And Link and his one man band serenading his son is adorable as well. He's an awesome father as everyone knew he would have been.

The pandemic and the possibility of Meredith dying is getting to them, as it would for anyone in their positions. I loved that he sat with Amelia and allowed her to feel all her feelings. Link has been the only partner Amelia has had who actually listened to her instead of talking over her concerns and dismissing them and in return she sat with him and allowed him to process his grief in the way he preferred to. Their levels of communication is on point right now and I am excited to see where it goes. Then there's also the scene where she's afraid for Meredith, her and Meredith had a rocky start and even now they don't have the best relationship but still it's great to see the moments where they let us know that they do care about each other.

Nico and Levi

(At this point I'm sad to put these two names together up here.)

I shipped those two so strong at the beginning but now I just want Levi to stand up for himself and leave Nico hanging, give him some time to let him realise what a good thing he is messing up. I'm still seething at his hypocrisy calling Levi a baby gay and lowkey pressuring Levi to come out to and move out of his mother's basement only for him to find out that Nico hasn't come out to his parents either and worst of all basically left him homeless by putting him out.

I was sad to see that Levi was falling down the same rabbit hole again. Levi hunny you deserve better. At the beginning of the episode when they had that awkward hi moment I was like oh no here we go again. Jo's reaction to finding out about them was perfect their friendship really has grown on me. It was a little odd at first but I approve of them as each other's persons, and for Jo to let him know he's worth more until Nico gets his crap together.

Owen

Oh Owen, no just no, he miss diagnosed a patient because he didn't look at the whole picture and just saw a piece, however he took the time to educate himself so I'm feeling a little better, I was expecting him to get mad or offended but he wasn't he took it in stride usually some of the doctors would tend to get snippy at the resident's when they pointed out that they made a mistake but he didn't. This is a common mistake made where doctors don't take into concept ethnicity when they're diagnosing patients and I'm glad they touched on this topic.

Owen has no other current plots at this point to touch on, at least until him and Teddy talk again.

Richard Webber

Meredith better be alright and come out unscathed, because if she does that will destroy Webber. He was so stressed all episode trying to make the decision of whether to put Meredith in the trial or not and I could only imagine the panic that went through him when he heard her mention George. Finally he made the decision to put her in the trial. Her reason for putting her as her POA was because Richard tends to be calm in most situations but she underestimated how important she is to everyone in the hospital they were all literally only interested in her during the briefing, and seeing him in her room all the time was adorable she was alone yet not alone at the same time because he was always in the room watching over her. He is the father that Meredith never had.

She really didn't do much other than educate Owen, worry over Meredith and express her concern about her parent's recent move to an assisted living facility.

Seeing her and George together again warmed my heart and seeing her on the beach with Meredith was a surprise as well especially because the few conversations they had in season 16 were the most I'd seen them talk about things that didn't involve work, but they've been together from the beginning along with Richard and been with her through it all, they're all a family and even though her and Meredith have their ups and down they have a similar relationship to Amelia and Meredith they fight sometimes but when push comes to shove they are there for each other.

Teddy

(A moment of silence for season 5 through 7 Teddy. May she rest in peace.)

Her plot wasn't so much as about her as it was about Meredith but I understand her concern about Meredith dying under her watch. The whole hospital was basically looking over her shoulder with pitchforks for incase she screwed up. It's a lot of pressure when Meredith Grey is your patient, and after the whole her being heard cheating on Owen with Tom by the whole OR the eyes were probably sharper than ever.

But then onto the worst part, her going to visit Tom. Now I know he said he was going to move on for his own sake, but out of all the times they broke up or separated he has never actually ignored her he would have answered even if it was to say go away and even so he has Covid and wasn't answering the door, why didn't she try to open the door or call 911 that's concerning. She could have even threatened to call the ambulance first just to make sure he wasn't really ignoring her. That would have gotten a response from him for sure. But I just can't fathom how she just left after getting no answer from him.

Maggie

Her and Winston are so cute and they haven't even met in person yet. Seeing the way how they handled the whole dinner with his father was a nice moment. The dinner was super awkward and he managed to make me hate his dad in one scene. This one seems to be the real deal for Maggie she isn't freaking out at the pace like she usually does and took the invitation to family dinner quite well. I'm glad to see she's no longer a cheerleader but now has a life of her own and probably soon maybe even a plot.

Tom Koracick

(Take Owen instead.)

NOOOOOO not Tom, we haven't gotten to see his character development yet. And why has he been through as much as someone who has been on the show since season 6 give the dude a break man. The whole time I knew he was going to get worst being asymptomatic doesn't necessarily mean that you won't get them later plus the fact that they sent him home alone was enough to know that something was going to go bad.

First thing first the rest of the doctors are sickening the way they treat him, can he come on strong and be a douche yes but I remember Bailey telling George at one point when he was making fun of Karev that they still had to be on his side even if they didn't like him. They are not on Koracick's side they just sent him home to rot and now it may very well cost him his life. I know Meredith is the sun but they could have at least kept Tom in the hospital to just to monitor him or if that wasn't able to happen they could have kept better tabs on him to make sure he was ok.

Am I the only one who's seeing Helm as his intern later in the future? They clearly have the same taste in video games and they would get along better when he becomes more open to people. Plus idk Helm just reminds me of someone in Nuero or even cardio, she has that tough attitude and strong drive like Cristina and Stephanie etc.

I don't think he's going to die though or at least I hope he's not going to die. Bailey's mother is there for a reason I more see her as the one to die.

Meredith

Last but certainly not least is Meredith am I the only one who suspected that George was next Ellen Pompeo and T.R Knight have a good relationship off set. If anyone was coming back it was going to be George. I can't see Eric Dane coming back. Chyler is filming Supergirl in Vancouver I think and the others are still alive which makes it more unlikely for them to show up on the beach unless if they heard about Meredith being sick and came back to help or something.

Either way I was ecstatic when I saw George, as I said at some point before he was one of those characters that I didn't like before but the more I watched the show the more I appreciated him until he became one of my favorite characters on the show. He's every bit as 'Georgelike' as I remember him. The only thing was I was a little peeved at the fact that she got to be close to George and talk about her kids with him and not Derek but as I realised later apparently Derek is death and when she reaches him it means she choose to live. Which I'm ok with I guess it was good just seeing them again, and it was even better when we got to see the 4 OG's sitting together again even if it was just in a dream.

She has to pick her kids, they need her and so does GreySloan, she needs to live.

I'm hoping she recovers soon, as much as I would like to see even more visitors at the beach. Has Meredith not been through enough? Although this is as peaceful as I've seen her to be completely honest.

Koracick is worst like I said before I don't think he will actually die but something extremely dramatic is going to happen besides him being near death it might be another peice to the Teddy, Owen and Tom love triangle seeing that they're both working on him.

And the last part I saw was Bailey's mom I knew her talking about her parents all of the sudden meant that something was going to happen to one or both of them. Unfortunately I think she might be the one to die Grey's has a habit of bringing in secondary characters when too many primary characters are at risk. Plus it'll give Bailey her plot which I'm lowkey ok with because Chandra Wilson's Emotional scenes are always on point.

My new baby!! Well, okay she’s like really not new but she’s also new because I never really developed her before — so she’s an Amazing Spider-Man OC but very heavily influenced by Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark because idc that everyone hated it that musical fucking slapped (except for the flashing lights can lighting designers please stop using flashing lights they are literally never necessary fight me)

So her name is Constance Osborn, and she’s Harry’s half sister, a bit less than a year younger than him!  Like, she’s younger enough that Harry always teases her for being the baby, but old enough that they’re in the same grade!  I think around nine-ten months, but idk for sure lmao!  Also just a fun fact but her name is a reference to st. conrad of constance bc of the spider story but like i know very very little about the spider story lmao 

anyways so okay she was raised by her mom when she was very young, but her mom died when she was 5, at which point she moved in with Norman (and Harry), and she barely remembers her mom.  But I can tell you that her mom was a geneticist who Norman met at a conference and had an affair with, and who was close friends with Richard & Mary Parker

which constance doesn’t know lmao but like, i know it and norman knows it so it’s being said — also bc @perfectlystiles implied doubt in my ability to reach maximum angst potential with a dead mom, y’all should know that Constance thinks that her mom killed herself, and that it was because of her, and has always blamed herself for it

anyawys okay fast forward many years, Harry and Constance and Peter were thick as thieves as kids but then Harry and Constance get sent off to Europe for boarding school and they lose contact and the osborns miss peter and he misses them rip

but anyways moving into the actual plot; constance ends up visiting new york during some of the events of TASM, spoilers happen and she gets powers, she accidentally kills someone with her powers, and swears to herself that she’ll never use her powers again, she goes back to europe and never tells anyone what happened

fast forward a bit and she’s graduated high school and her dad is dying, and Harry manages to convince her to return to New York with him — they both know that Harry is going to get Oscorp but they’d also always agreed that while Harry would handle the science (Constance is good at science but she’s an artist at heart, she only really started getting super focused on science after getting her powers), she would handle everything involving people

but then there’s an accident in the lab and when Electro appears on the scene, she recognizes him as being another one of Norman's experiments (she doesn't know about the accident yet, she thinks he's like her) and feels obligated to help, which becomes her first real appearance as a superhero

I don’t want to give away too many spoilers but she’s a Peter ship, Gwen doesn’t die, and Norman Osborn is a piece of shit

also her superhero name is Arachne, though her powers are more similar to Carnage (minus the parasite part) than Peter — I’m still working on the science side of her powers but I’ve got most of her main abilities figured out I think

also (i know, i need to stop saying also lmao), just some fun facts!  She’s an artist and very into arts of all sorts, though as a creator she tends to be mostly a visual artist!  She loves fashion, she’s afraid of the dark, she’s even more afraid of needles, she bakes in the middle of the night a lot, Arachne and Spider-Man really don’t trust each other even though Constance and Peter are best friends, and Harry is the only person who can get away with calling her Connie 

this was probably a bit more than you were expecting from “she has no name/title/plot” to “she has a name and maybe a plot” but now she has everything and just needs a summary and I’m so excited about her!!

The Case Files of Jeweler Richard - Book 6 chapter 4 summary

I know other people are doing summaries but there are scenes I want to write down so that I can remember them fondly, so here goes! Please notify me if I get things wrong and such, since I mostly write this from memory (I read this yesterday) while glancing at the book sometimes. Also I sure hope this sounds coherent, the original text is very graceful...

The events in this chapter actually starts at the end of the same day chapter 3 took place. Seigi's biological dad finds him as Seigi is walking home from Etranger. (Unfortunately I don't remember his name, Seigi doesn't refer to him by name, and I also refuse to check his name, so we'll stick with "dad" here) He starts trying to talk sweetly to Seigi, telling him how he managed to know Seigi's whereabouts.

During the conversation, Seigi has flashbacks on dad being abusive in the past and how he barely paid for damages to Hiromi after they divorced. Dad later explained that his mom (Seigi's grandma) died, and thus he lost his financial support and eventually lost his home. He implies strongly that he wants Seigi's help for food and shelter, while also badmouthing Hiromi. The exchange is honestly so raw and frustrating and I hope someone translates this in all it's.... glory. Seigi is extremely upset and is contemplating to just hit him, but anyway dad decides to leave after the conversation goes nowhere.

Also scattered in the chapter is that Hiromi divorced dad during Seigi's elementary school time, then she married Tanaka-san (the current husband) during the same period of time. Thanks to this and the ex being abusive, Seigi had to move schools multiple times.

Seigi gets stressed about the ordeal, thinking that he probably needs to skip work tomorrow since he thinks dad will come back. After he informs Richard through email, Richard asks if everything is alright and Seigi lies, saying that he just has events related to job-seeking and school works.

The next day, after spending his time outside, Seigi goes home only to be welcomed by dad in front of his apartment. Seigi walks away while dad still keeps following him and talking to him, then Seigi decides to walk in a hardware store. He buys something, walks out, and comes this scene (rough translation):

(Seigi) "Have you ever thought of dying?"

(Dad) "Dying? Why are you saying such a scary thing?"

"I have"

"Uh, let's stop talking about this. It's weird. Unpleasant."

"When I was in elementary school, I thought of killing you and then dying myself."

And now, just a little, I wish I really did just that.

In this peaceful Japan, even though there are a lot of violence happening every year, people can still buy a knife in hardware stores. Once this guy realizes that what I just bought was a sharp object, he takes a step back.

"Seigi, joking like that isn't good. You'll get involved with the cops."

"Do you want to see if this is a joke or not?"

"Why do you say things like that? I love you so much. That's why I went all the way to look for you, why don't you get it? I worked so hard to find you. Are you heartless now? Have you become a bad kid?"

"Let's decide here whether you'd leave or not. I'll give you 30 seconds."

Dad turns completely pale, and Seigi starts counting. Dad keeps trying to reach out to him but Seigi doesn't budge, so he eventually leaves.

The next day, Seigi is completely distraught. Tanimoto greets him, notices that Seigi isn't well and looks upset, then asks if it's better if she just leaves him alone, and does just that.

Seigi starts thinking of quitting Etranger, since he's afraid Richard will also get bothered by stalker dad, especially knowing that Richard is a british nobleman who treats Seigi to 3000yen+ dinners weekly. He makes up his mind and decides that the coming saturday will be the last time he works at Etranger, and starts making lots of pudding.

Shaul sends an email to Seigi, saying that Richard is worried of him so he's asking if everything is fine. Seigi's reply is a lie, once again. Seigi learned that dad apparently tried to ask for Seigi's key to the apartment's landlord, but since he couldn't prove himself he wasn't given anything.

Trivial stuff but Seigi starts thinking about how both Tanimoto and Richard are like angels to him. While Tanimoto is an angel that softly flies on the sky, Richard is an angel who despite having wings, he still walks firmly on the earth.

The next day Seigi is woken up by dad waiting in front of his apartment. He brings a piece of "gem" that looks like it's bought from a 100 yen shop. They talk for a bit, Seigi can't handle it anymore and throws a 1000 yen bill through the gap of his still-locked door. The dad grabs the money, complains that it's not enough, but eventually leaves. Seigi starts planning to move to weekly rental apartments, and throughout the week the dad has resorted to calling Seigi instead of physically visiting him. Then, Saturday comes.

The day in Etranger goes normally and smoothly, which is a nice surprise to Seigi. He's obviously emotionally very tired and worried, but he tries to appear cheerful because it's his last day. At the end of the day, he finally tells Richard that he wants to quit his job, effective tomorrow. Richard just says yes, and then invites him for a "goodbye dinner", though he hates saying that, so he just says that he wants to make good memories during the dinner.

Richard invites him to the high end hotel they went that other time in the case with Hase-senpai. They go to a restaurant high up (i think it's a rooftop restaurant but i'm not super sure) and apparently Richard has ordered set menu, so all they have to do is sit and wait for orders to come. After finishing, Richard brings him to the hotel's bar, both ends up ordering non-alcohol coctails, and Richard offers Seigi some high-end chocolate with liquor filling. Then comes this scene:

(Seigi) "This is so good, it feels like a waste to eat it..."

(Richard) "I think so too"

"Hn?"

"I don't want to.."

"Did you say something?"

"I don't want to send you home"

Seigi double takes and reconfirms that Richard did just say that to him, and no one else around. Richard confirms and pulls out a hotel card key, inviting him, light as if he's just asking Seigi to get into the car as usual. Seigi is determined to make today a good last part-time job day, so he will never say no regardless of what Richard says. All Seigi replies is "what floor?" but Richard doesn't answer.

Once they reach the right floor, Richard hands Seigi the card and Seigi proceeds to open the door. Inside, Jeffrey is waiting, yelling surprise, and Seigi is so surprised he's about to run away. Richard leads him back into the room and makes him sit on a chair. By the way the hotel room is the super high end one with multiple rooms and stuff, not the standard single room.

Jeffrey starts telling Seigi about how since he's been "legally" stalking Seigi for... a long time.... , he finds out about the stalker dad problem and informs Richard. Richard then asks Seigi why Seigi won't tell him anything. Seigi retaliates and says that it's not Richard's business, it's not like Richard wants to hear anything bad like that, etc. Then Richard says that he likes Seigi so, so much, that it makes him angry. At this point Jeffrey leaves the room for a bit so there's just the two of them.

At first Seigi denies Richard's concerns, saying that he might have been influenced by his dad more than Richard would ever know. As a kid Seigi looked in libraries about domestic abuse, and found a book that mentions that statistically, boys who witness domestic violence in their homes have a higher chance of growing up to be an abusive partner themselves. Seigi then recalls how sometimes as a kid he ended up punching and destroying things, how Hiromi enrolled him to learn karate to release the steam and learn how punches and kicks actually hurt. However he still thinks that he has the potential to be violent, and he doesn't want Richard to see that.

Richard gently tells Seigi that all Seigi does is being prejudiced towards himself, and that his prejudice means he's also prejudiced towards every other kid who are also victims of domestic violence. He adds that someone who isn't kind to themselves won't be able to be kind to others as well. Richard also thinks the reason Seigi never gets tired of Richard's looks is because he always sees Richard from afar, refusing to get closer. He encourages Seigi to seek help when he has problems, not just to Richard, but to anyone else.

At one point Richard kneels in front of Seigi who's sitting on a chair, Seigi thinks of how it's like if an adult is trying to comfort a child. Then he starts crying (again). Then Richard tells Seigi to answer the phone. He does, and the dad says he's waiting near Seigi's apartment. Seigi's supposed to go there alone, but apparently the game plan between the two brothers is that Richard is going to accompany Seigi. Jeffrey jokes that Richard might look slender when clothed, but if you see him naked he has pretty well built muscles, so everything should be fine if ever a brawl or anything happens. Richard shushes him.

Richard and Seigi ride on the usual Jaguar to the dad's location. Inside the car, Richard asks why Seigi was so gullible in accepting his invitation to a hotel room, he was sure that Seigi would say no to that. Seigi just says that it's because he trusts him. If Tanimoto ever tells Seigi she wants to punch him, Seigi will let that happen too.

They arrive, Richard stops the car, and encourages Seigi who has made up his determination, calling him a "good boy". Seigi notices that's usually a line used for dogs, but he shrugs it off. However, Richard ends up being the only one who walks out of the car and meets dad. Dad acts confrontational in front of Richard, until Nakata-san (Seigi's now-dad and Hiromi's current husband) appears and grabs shitty dad's shoulder.

Nakata-san confronts shitty dad, asking him why he's bothering his son, if he actually knows anything about Seigi, what he likes, what he's good at, etc. Shitty dad panics and runs away, leaving Nakata-san, Richard, and Seigi there. Seigi walks out of the car stunned, trying not to cry (for the nth time tonight), thinking about how happy it is that Nakata-san comes to help him. The dad and son hugs tightly.

Nakata-san explains that he comes because Hiromi and Richard contacted him about the incident. As it turns out, after the events in England, Richard contacted the couple to apologize about involving their son to all his mess. Nakata-san also apologizes that he couldn't come to Seigi's coming-of-age ceremony, and wants to make sure that he can be here today.... which is Seigi's birthday. He forgot about that because he was panicking.

The couple prepared a birthday present they ordered from Etranger. It's a pair of cufflinks made of tanzanite. Tanzanite is a pretty fragile stone, and by putting them as cufflinks, they want to make Seigi remember to take time to think before leaping into action and to stop him if ever he's about to get violent (though that isn't gonna happen, we all know he's a good boy!) so that the stone doesn't break. The designer of the cufflinks is Maya, the lady from Book 5 chapter 1 who told Seigi he had pretty hands (lol). If Seigi breaks the cufflinks, Maya will absolutely raise hell over it, or so Richard says.

Nakata-san says bye to our two boys because he has to go back to Hiromi's side as she's also pretty stressed from the whole ordeal, telling Richard to take care of Seigi. They both drive back to the hotel, Richard tells Seigi that Jeffrey will help sort things out as Seigi will need to temporarily move around to avoid stalker dad. Seigi asks why they're willing to go this far for him. Richard answers that the family owes Seigi a lot. Jeffrey also previously told Richard that if anything happens to Seigi, Henry will never forgive him, so Richard wants Seigi to just think of Jeffrey as a talking wallet.

Seigi asks Richard to let him go back working in Etranger, and of course Richard says yes. They then turn to go eat sweets somewhere.
